IB Home Tutor in Ajman

Search for an IB home tutor in Ajman and you will be quoted an hourly rate, which is the least useful number in the whole conversation. This page breaks the in-home premium down into minutes, lays the two Diploma years out as a cash-flow calendar, and shows who bears which cost in each arrangement. Every AED figure is a published market rate with its source named. Lessons from IB Gram run one-to-one over live video.

IB & IGCSE in Ajman

Two numbers decide what IB support costs you, and the rate is the smaller one

Every provider in this market advertises the first number and almost none of them discusses the second. The first is the hourly rate. The second is the number of hours, and it is the one that actually determines the cheque. A tutor at AED 150 an hour who needs thirty-two hours to repair a Higher Level problem costs AED 4,800. A tutor at AED 270 who needs twelve costs AED 3,240 and finishes sooner. Comparing rates without comparing hours is the most expensive habit a family can bring to this decision.

The second number depends on three things: whether the gap is technique or content, whether the student does the work set between sessions, and how early you start. All three are knowable before you commit, and the first can be read from a single marked script. That is why this page spends more time on plan shapes and on a calendar than on a rate card, and why the one figure we will not publish is a price for a predicted outcome.

The figures used throughout are market figures with their sources named. A 2026 Dubai tutoring cost survey puts in-home one-to-one visits at AED 180 to 350 an hour, and independent home tutors at AED 200 to 500 once travel sits inside the rate. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. TutorChase quotes AED 270 for specialist work. EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52 at the budget end, which is generally group or university-student tutoring rather than specialist one-to-one. All were researched in October 2026.

Ajman changes several of those numbers in ways a generic UAE page will not tell you. The emirate is small and its private schools sit under federal Ministry of Education oversight rather than under an emirate authority. A large share of households have a parent working in Dubai or Sharjah, which pushes the usable evening later and shortens the window in which a visiting tutor can arrive. And the local pool of IB subject specialists is thin, which is the single biggest upward pressure on any in-home quote here: scarcity, not quality, sets that premium.

One thing to settle before the detail. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; sending a teacher to a residence is a service we run only in India. The in-home option is priced honestly on this page because you will be quoted for it elsewhere and you deserve a fair comparison. What IB Gram delivers to an Ajman family is one-to-one tuition over live video, with the first lesson free and no payment taken before it. Read the bands below as a yardstick for whatever quote lands in your inbox, and convert every one of them to dirhams per teaching hour before you compare two providers.

At a glance

  • Rate × hours is the only figure that matters; most providers publish only the first half
  • In-home visits in this market run AED 180 to 500 an hour once travel is inside the number
  • Monthly packages seen locally: around AED 799 online for eight sessions, AED 1,599 to 1,799 in-home for four two-hour visits
  • Scarcity of IB specialists, not quality, drives the Ajman in-home premium
  • Every band on this page is attributed and dated — none of it is an IB Gram tariff
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An hour does not cost the same at every stage, because the work in the hour is different. These are the stages an Ajman family pays for, and what the money is actually buying at each one.

MYPAges 11-16

Middle Years Programme, Years 7 to 11

The cheapest hours in the whole sequence and the ones most families skip. Work is assessed against four criteria per subject on a 1 to 8 scale, and the criterion that scores low is almost always the one asking for evaluation or reflection rather than for knowledge. Support here targets durable skills — writing to a criterion, arithmetic fluency, structured paragraphs — which is why an hour bought in Year 9 does more than an hour bought in DP2.

In Ajman the Middle Years enquiry usually arrives in Year 10, after a report that looked fine until the student met the Diploma's expectations. At market rates the stage sits at the lower end of the qualified-tutor band published by Unitors, because the content demand on the tutor is lower even where the teaching skill required is not.

DP1Ages 16-17 · Year 12

Diploma Programme, first year

The expensive year to under-spend in. Higher Level content accelerates sharply, internally assessed components open, and the core starts making demands at exactly the point the subjects do. Money spent here buys technique that applies across both years: command terms, written method, the discipline of closing an evaluative answer. Money not spent here tends to be spent twice in DP2 under time pressure.

Ajman's IB cohorts are small, so a Higher Level group may number four or five students taught by a teacher carrying two other courses. That is the structural reason DP1 support is the most common enquiry we take from the emirate, and it is why we quote per subject rather than per student.

DP2Ages 17-19 · Year 13

Diploma Programme, final year

The year when rates in this market move, because demand concentrates. Published monthly estimates for weekly one-hour specialist support in an examination year reach AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above, against AED 600 to 1,200 for mid-tier support, in the 2026 survey quoted above. Internally assessed work closes, predicted grades are set, and the remaining movable marks are mostly technique rather than content.

The practical Ajman consequence is availability rather than price. Specialist slots between 18:30 and 21:00 — the only window that survives a Dubai or Sharjah commute — are the first to fill in the second year. Families who hold a standing slot from September pay the same as everybody else and get the hour they need.

CoreAcross both Diploma years

The Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge

Priced by most providers as a separate block, and the block that is most often bought too late. The core is assessed through an exhibition of objects, a prescribed-title essay and a supervised piece of independent research, and the failure mode is almost always sequencing rather than ability. Short blocks of process coaching, bought early, replace long blocks of crisis work bought in the final term.

Supervision sits with the school, and a tutor's contribution is questioning the student's own work against the criteria. One operator in this market advertises finished internal assessments for a four-figure sum; that is the one line item an Ajman family should refuse at any price, because the consequence falls on the student.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Rates vary by subject more than most price pages admit, and the reason is supply rather than difficulty. These are the subjects Ajman families most often ask about, with a note on what moves the number.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The most requested Diploma subject in this emirate and therefore the best supplied, which keeps quotes near the middle of the qualified-tutor band. Higher Level adds genuine content rather than harder versions of the same content, so hours needed rise steeply at HL even where the rate does not.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Slightly thinner supply than Analysis and Approaches, and a different cost profile: the exploration and the technology papers need a tutor comfortable with the graphic display calculator as a teaching tool rather than as an accessory, which narrows the field and lifts the quote.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Among the dearest hours in the Diploma, because two separate failure modes need two different drills and because Higher Level specialists are scarce in the northern emirates. A quote near the top of the specialist band is defensible here in a way it is not in a well-supplied subject.

Physics

HL and SL

Similar scarcity to Chemistry, with a mark-loss pattern that is cheap to fix once named: method written down rather than held in the head. Families often buy a long block when a short technique block would have done, which is a cost of poor diagnosis rather than of the subject.

Biology

HL and SL

Better supplied than the other two sciences, so quotes sit lower. The hours tend to be more numerous, because the content volume is large and the extended-response marks turn on command terms that need repeated marked practice rather than a single explanation.

Economics

HL and SL

Reasonably supplied and often mis-bought. The movable marks are concentrated in evaluation and in the internally assessed commentaries, both of which respond to a handful of sessions, so a year-long weekly arrangement is frequently more than the problem requires.

Business Management

HL and SL

Quotes near the middle of the band. The cost risk here is the internally assessed component, where students choose an organisation they cannot get data from and then need far more hours than planned to rescue a question that was never answerable.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Supply is decent, and the hours are predictable because the skills are specific: unseen analysis, the individual oral's connective argument, essay structure. This is a subject where marking-only arrangements often deliver most of the movement at a fraction of the weekly cost.

Psychology

HL and SL

Thin local supply, which lifts quotes, and a heavy load of precise terminology and studies. Families underestimate the hours because the content reads accessibly; the marks sit in command-term discipline and in the experimental study's method.

Arabic and the mandatory UAE subjects

Alongside the IB timetable

The hardest stream to resource locally and therefore the least predictable quote. Teaching conditions are set centrally, including the language of instruction and the separation of classes for Arab and non-Arab students, so material cannot be substituted freely by a private tutor.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways to buy, priced differently because they contain different amounts of the tutor's time. All three run one-to-one over live video.

Weekly standing hour

The highest-cost and highest-information arrangement. The tutor marks a timed task before each session, teaches inside the hour, and sets the next task, so the billed hour contains unbilled preparation. This is the shape to buy when the gap is content as well as technique, and the shape to stop paying for once the targeted criterion has moved and held for a month.

  • Marking done before the session, not inside it
  • A written note each week naming the criterion targeted
  • Reviewed at week six against six marked pieces
  • Slots after 18:30 to survive a Dubai or Sharjah commute

Marking and feedback only

The cheapest arrangement per unit of movement and the most demanding of the student. They sit a paper to time, send it, and the session is spent entirely on the marked script. It costs a fraction of weekly teaching because the teaching hours are the student's own, and it is a waste of money where the independent study habit does not already exist.

  • One script a fortnight, sat to the real time limit
  • Marked against the published assessment criteria
  • A criterion log that accumulates across the block
  • Early, honest warning when the work is not being done

A short block with a deadline attached

Four to eight hours around a specific event: an internally assessed component's school deadline, a mock week, the final technique push before papers. Blocks are the right purchase when the target is defined and the wrong purchase when it is general improvement, because an undefined block becomes a weekly arrangement by accident and nobody notices the switch.

  • A named target and an end date agreed up front
  • Criteria read together before any drafting begins
  • Deadline counted backwards into weekly checkpoints
  • No automatic continuation when the block ends

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Ajman

01

The in-home premium, decomposed into minutes

Published in-home rates in this market run from AED 180 to 350 an hour in the 2026 survey quoted above, and from AED 200 to 500 for independent home tutors, against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. The gap is not a quality gap. It is a travel gap, a minimum-booking gap and a risk gap, and once you can see the three separately you can judge whether any particular quote is reasonable.

Travel comes first. A tutor who drives from Sharjah to Al Jurf and back has spent forty to sixty minutes unpaid unless it is inside the rate, which it always is. Fuel and any tolls go the same way. Then the minimum booking: because the journey is fixed and the teaching is variable, visiting tutors across the UAE price a two-hour minimum, which is why monthly in-home packages in this market appear as four two-hour sessions at AED 1,599 to 1,799 rather than as eight single hours.

Then risk. A cancelled online session costs a tutor an empty hour. A cancelled visit costs them the hour plus the journey, which is why in-home cancellation terms are tighter and why a family that moves sessions around a school calendar pays more for the privilege. None of this is unfair. It is simply what is inside the number, and a visiting tutor who quotes AED 300 for a district forty minutes away is not overcharging, they are pricing their own time correctly.

The table below sets out where the billed time in a visit actually goes. Read the last column, because that is the one that answers the only question worth asking: what does the student get for it? Two of those rows deliver something a screen cannot, and the rest deliver logistics.

02

The two Diploma years as a cash-flow calendar

Families budget tuition as a monthly subscription and then discover it is seasonal. The demand on a Diploma student is not spread evenly across twenty-four months: it concentrates around internally assessed deadlines, mock weeks and the final run to papers, and a plan that spends the same amount every month either over-buys in quiet terms or under-buys in the loud ones.

The useful exercise is to lay the two years out and decide in advance which months carry hours. In the first term of DP1 the right purchase is usually diagnosis plus technique, which is cheap and durable. Through the middle of DP1 the internally assessed components open and the core begins, which is where short blocks earn their keep. The first term of DP2 is the heaviest, because components close while content continues. The final stretch is technique and timed papers, and the month after the papers costs nothing at all.

The indicative monthly figures in the table come from the published 2026 estimates for weekly one-hour support: AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-tier and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist examination-year support. They are the market's numbers, not a quote, and the point of the table is the shape rather than the totals.

One planning note that saves real money. No IB session or results date is published on this page, because those dates have not been confirmed from the IB's own site for this project. The school's coordinator holds the authoritative internal calendar, including component deadlines that sit months before anything external. Ask for it in September of DP1 and build the spending plan on that document rather than on a guess.

Who actually bears which cost in each arrangement

Cost incidence is the part of this market nobody writes down. Every arrangement contains the same underlying costs — travel, preparation, marking, resources, a room, cover when somebody is unavailable — and the arrangements differ in who carries each one. A quote that looks cheap often looks that way because a cost has been moved onto the family or onto the student without being named.

The clearest example is marking. A session spent reading the student's work for the first time is a session in which you paid a specialist rate for silent reading. A tutor who marks before the hour has absorbed that preparation into their rate, which makes their rate look higher and their hours fewer. Over a term the second arrangement is usually cheaper and always more useful, but you cannot see that from the two numbers on the advert.

The second example is cover. If a tutor becomes unavailable mid-block, somebody bears the cost of the gap: either the family waits, or the provider rematches and the new tutor spends a session catching up, or the marked-work record travels and the handover costs nothing much. Which of those happens is worth agreeing before the second lesson rather than in March.

The third is the room. An in-home visit uses your room, your electricity and your household's silence for two hours; an online session uses a corner of a desk. Neither is free, and for an apartment household in Al Nuaimiya the second is considerably less disruptive than the first. The table sets the comparison out in full.

04

Reading a quote: per hour, per session, per month, per subject

  • Convert every quote to AED per teaching hour before comparing
  • Ask the session length before accepting a per-session figure
  • Ask how many sessions a monthly package contains, and how long each is
  • Price per subject, not per child
  • Ask whether marking is included and whether it happens before the hour

Four units are in common use in this market and they are not interchangeable, which is how two quotes that look similar turn out to differ by half. Ask which unit you are being quoted in and convert everything to one before you compare anything.

Per hour is the cleanest and the rarest at the premium end. Per session matters because a session is not always sixty minutes: ninety-minute and two-hour sessions are standard for in-home work, so AED 400 a session may be AED 200 an hour or AED 267 an hour depending on length. Per month is the hardest to read, because a monthly figure hides both the session length and the number of sessions. The AED 799 monthly online package seen in this market covers eight sessions, which is roughly AED 100 a session; the AED 1,599 to 1,799 in-home monthly figures cover four two-hour visits, which is AED 200 to 225 an hour. Same market, very different arithmetic.

Per subject is the unit that catches families out at the end. A quote given for a student is not a quote for three subjects, and the assumption that a weekly hour can rotate between Chemistry, Mathematics and English is how a plan ends up delivering a third of a session in each. If you need two subjects, price two arrangements and decide whether you want both, rather than buying one and dividing it.

Two further questions worth asking in writing. Does the figure include the tutor's marking time, and is that marking done before the session or inside it? And what is the position on tax: we will not state the VAT treatment of tuition fees as a matter of fact, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation nobody in this market provides, but any provider quoting you a figure should be able to say plainly whether their own number includes it.

05

Six things that move the number in Ajman specifically

Generic UAE price pages give you a national band and leave you to guess where your own emirate sits inside it. Six local factors do most of the work here, and five of them push upwards.

Specialist scarcity is the largest. IB provision in Ajman is concentrated rather than widespread, so the local pool of people who can mark a Higher Level Chemistry investigation is small, and a small pool prices like a small pool. The commute is the second: with many households having a parent working in Dubai or Sharjah, the usable evening starts late and the slots between 18:30 and 21:00 are the only ones that reliably work, which concentrates demand into a narrow window. Travel distance is the third, and it varies sharply by district — Al Rashidiya is cheap to reach, Al Jurf is not.

The fourth is the two-hour minimum convention on visits, which doubles the smallest amount you can buy. The fifth is the academic calendar: Ramadan compresses the school day and shifts sessions later, and the months around internally assessed deadlines concentrate demand across every family at once. The sixth factor pushes the other way, and it is the only one that does: because lessons can run over video, an Ajman family is buying from a national pool rather than a local one, which is why online specialist rates in this market sit below in-home rates rather than above them.

One factor that should not move the number, and sometimes does: a provider's claim to regulator approval. No tutoring platform in this market holds an endorsement from the International Baccalaureate, the Ministry of Education or any emirate authority, and a premium charged on the strength of an implied seal of approval is a premium on nothing. IB Gram holds no such accreditation and claims none.

06

The cheapest intervention in the two years, and when to buy it

  • Best value: a concentrated block in the summer between DP1 and DP2
  • Second best: skills work in the Middle Years, before the Diploma begins
  • Reasonable: short component blocks with a named school deadline
  • Worst value: a long weekly arrangement bought in panic in the final term

The highest-value money in a Diploma, measured by grade movement per dirham, is almost always spent in the summer between the two years, and almost nobody spends it there. The reason is arithmetic rather than pedagogy. A content gap in a Higher Level subject is measured in dozens of teaching hours, and a weekly hour during term is consumed by whatever is urgent that week, so the gap never closes while new content keeps arriving on top of it.

A fortnight of daily hours in a quiet period behaves completely differently. There is no new content arriving, no homework competing, and the tutor can work through a syllabus in sequence rather than triaging. Families who do this typically spend less in total than families who buy a weekly hour for eighteen months, and they start DP2 without the deficit that would otherwise have shaped the whole year.

The second cheapest intervention is earlier still: the year before the Diploma begins. A student entering DP1 secure in algebraic manipulation, able to write a paragraph with a controlling idea and used to working against a criterion rather than for a teacher's approval has access to the whole programme. One who is not may be paying for remedial work in two subjects for two years. Middle Years support is quieter, less urgent and considerably better value than anything purchasable in DP2.

The most expensive intervention is the one bought six weeks before papers for a gap that is two years wide. It is also the one most often sold, because that is when parents are most frightened. A short block repairs technique and cannot install a syllabus, and we will say so at the diagnostic. The honest conversation at that point is about triage — which subjects to protect, and whether a later session is the sensible route for the weakest.

07

What the money does not buy, at any rate

Three things are not purchasable, and a provider who prices them is selling something they cannot deliver. The first is a grade. No tutor can promise a Diploma score or a specific improvement, and any package priced against a predicted total is a claim about an outcome controlled by the student and the examiner. The gate on every page of this site blocks that claim, and it should.

The second is motivation. A tutor can see the work, mark it and tell you honestly when it has not been done. They cannot make a seventeen-year-old open a book at eight o'clock, and where that is the actual problem the sessions become a weekly receipt for the same information. If the diagnostic reaches that conclusion, we will say it rather than invoice around it for a term — which is cheaper for you and more sustainable for us.

The third is authorship, and this is the one with consequences. One operator researched in this market advertises completed internal assessments at a four-figure price. Buying that transfers the risk entirely onto your child: awarding bodies treat authorship breaches as malpractice, the penalty can reach an entire entry rather than one component, and the student confirms the work is their own as part of submitting it. A tutor may teach the skill, read the criteria, question a draft the student has written and mark a timed task. That is the whole of the permitted range, and it is enough.

What the money does buy is specific and checkable: diagnosis of where the marks are going, training in the technique that recovers them, marked work every week, and a written record you can read without the subject guide. Judge any arrangement on whether those four things arrive, not on how reassuring the conversation was.

08

Why this is delivered over live video, and what that removes from the bill

Every lesson for an Ajman family runs one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. The student needs a device with a camera, a reliable connection, paper and the same desk each week. Work is photographed and sent ahead so the tutor has marked it before the hour begins, which means the billed time is teaching rather than reading.

Three cost lines disappear in that arrangement and it is worth being specific about which. Travel, both the tutor's and the hidden cost of your evening. The two-hour minimum booking, because there is no journey to justify, so a single hour is a purchasable unit. And the scarcity premium, because the pool is no longer whoever can reach your district by 19:00. That third one is the largest in a small emirate, and it is the reason online specialist rates in this market sit below in-home rates rather than above them.

Two things get worse, and they belong in the same paragraph as the savings. A screen cannot supervise a reluctant student into starting, and it cannot handle laboratory apparatus. Where supervision is the real requirement, the honest recommendation is the in-home market option priced earlier on this page, and we would rather say that at the diagnostic than afterwards. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE, and pretending otherwise would waste your evening.

For the typical Ajman enquiry — one Higher Level subject, a grade below target, components approaching — the format is not a compromise. It is the reason a household in Al Mowaihat can hold a standing 19:30 slot with a specialist in the subject rather than a weekly appointment with the nearest available generalist.

09

What a quote from us looks like, and the honest no

You send the subject, the level, the year group, a photograph of a recent marked piece and the two evening windows that genuinely work. We come back with a named tutor, their subject and level coverage, a proposed slot in Gulf Standard Time and a figure for a defined block rather than a tariff. The first lesson is free and is a diagnostic; no payment is taken before it, and there is no obligation to continue afterwards.

The quote names three things explicitly, because those are the three that go wrong elsewhere. How long a session is. Whether marking is included and when it happens. And what the block is for, with an end date, so that it does not quietly become a subscription. If you want two subjects, you get two figures, because a rotating hour is not two arrangements.

The availability answer is given straight, which is rare in this market. Mathematics, the three sciences, English A and B, Economics, Business Management and Psychology are generally coverable within a few days at both levels. Some ab initio languages, the arts at Higher Level and Arabic as a first language take longer or cannot be covered, and when that is the case we say so rather than holding an enquiry open. Telling you where the gap is lets you look in the right place.

And there is a point at which the honest answer is to spend nothing. If the diagnostic says the gap is supervision, or that the student is carrying three Higher Levels they cannot carry, or that six weeks will not close a two-year deficit, you will hear that at the free lesson. The week-six review exists for the same reason: six marked pieces on the table, one question about whether the targeted criterion moved, and a willingness to recommend stopping if it did not.

Where we tutor

Ajman district by district, and what each one does to the cost of a visit

On an in-home quote, geography is money. These are the districts we hear from, with what the approach drive and the usable evening window do to the number a visiting tutor would charge.

Al Nuaimiya

Close to the Sharjah boundary and heavily built up, so a tutor driving from Sharjah arrives quickly but into evening congestion. The usable window starts late, which pushes visiting tutors towards a two-hour minimum to make the trip worth it.

Al Rashidiya

Central, with short internal journeys and reasonable access from both Sharjah and central Ajman. One of the few districts where a visiting tutor's travel element is genuinely small, and therefore where in-home quotes sit nearest the published floor.

Al Mowaihat

Spread-out villa district with longer internal drives. Households here commonly run two or three children, which is where the per-child economics of a visit change: one trip, several hours billed, and a single room shared by siblings.

Al Rawda

Established and residential, with a high share of DP1 and DP2 students. Demand concentrates in the same evening window, so this is where specialist availability rather than rate becomes the binding constraint in the final year.

Al Jurf

Mixed industrial and residential on the Sharjah side, with the longest approach from central Dubai. A visiting tutor pricing this district honestly is pricing forty to sixty minutes of unbilled driving into the hour.

Al Helio

Newer residential pockets, younger households and more Middle Years enquiries than Diploma ones. Quotes here are lower because the stage is earlier, which is exactly the stage at which the money works hardest.

Ajman Corniche and Al Zorah

Coastal, lower density and shorter school runs, so slightly earlier slots are workable. The in-home premium is smaller here than inland, and the enquiries skew towards Group 4 sciences at Higher Level.

Private schools in the emirate sit under federal Ministry of Education oversight, and IB provision is concentrated rather than widespread. That concentration is the reason specialist tuition in the emirate is priced for scarcity. Students we support attend schools across this group.

  • Ajman Modern School
  • Habitat School Ajman
  • Ibn Seena English High School
  • Al Ameer English School

Sharjah, within the daily commute

Many Ajman households drive a child across the boundary for school, and that journey is the hidden line in every in-home quote: it removes the early-evening hour in which a visiting tutor could otherwise be cheap.

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Sharjah English School
  • Delhi Private School Sharjah
  • GEMS Westminster School – Sharjah

Named schools are given as context for the Ajman and Sharjah education market only; no affiliation, partnership or endorsement is implied or claimed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send a marked piece, the subject and the level

A photograph of recent marked work tells us more than a description does: it shows the level, the command terms being missed and the state of written method under time pressure. Add the year group, the target grade and the two evening windows your household can genuinely hold, since an unkeepable slot is not a plan.

  2. 02

A free diagnostic lesson, no payment first

One hour with the script in front of both of them. The output is a written diagnosis: which loss patterns are present, which are weeks of work and which are a term, and what the first three weeks would target. If the honest conclusion is to spend nothing, that is what you will be told, and there is nothing to cancel.

  3. 03

A quote for a block, not a tariff

A figure for a defined number of hours with a named target and an end date, stating session length, whether marking is included and when it happens. Two subjects get two figures. Nothing renews automatically, because an undefined block becomes a subscription and nobody notices the moment it happened.

  4. 04

Weekly marked work, prepared before the hour

A timed task every week, sat to the real limit, photographed and sent ahead so it is already marked. The session is spent on the marks rather than on reading, and a written note follows naming the criterion targeted and whether it moved. That note is what the week-six review reads.

  5. 05

Review at week six and decide

Parent, student and tutor look at six marked pieces and answer one question: has the targeted criterion moved? If it has, pick the next target or stop. If it has not, either the diagnosis or the match changes. A provider unwilling to hold that conversation has told you something useful.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Every figure attributed and dated

Three of six researched competitors publish no price at all and the two that do quote in US dollars. Each AED band on this page names the provider or survey that published it and is dated to October 2026, so you can test the quote in front of you against the band rather than against a feeling.

Priced in blocks with an end date

Quotes name the hours, the target and the finish, and nothing renews by default. The most common way a tutoring budget runs away is a block that silently became a subscription in month three, which is a structural problem rather than a question of rate.

Marking inside the rate, done before the hour

A session spent reading the student's work for the first time is specialist time billed for silent reading. Work is photographed and sent ahead so it arrives marked, which makes the hour teaching and makes the total number of hours smaller.

The scarcity premium removed, not disguised

In a small emirate the dearest part of an in-home quote is that the pool is whoever can drive to your district by seven. Video delivery replaces that pool with a national one, which is why online specialist rates here sit below in-home rates instead of above them.

Nothing claimed about accreditation

IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation or endorsement from the International Baccalaureate, the Ministry of Education or any emirate education authority, and no page here says otherwise. A premium charged on an implied seal of approval is a premium on nothing.

A willingness to say spend nothing

If the diagnosis is that the gap is supervision, or that the timeline is too short for the deficit, you hear it at the free lesson rather than after a term of invoices. The week-six review is built to produce the same answer when the evidence supports it.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Ajman: your questions answered

What does an hour with an IB home tutor in Ajman cost once travel is inside the number?+

Market figures researched in October 2026 put in-home one-to-one visits at AED 180 to 350 an hour in a 2026 Dubai cost survey, with independent home tutors charging AED 200 to 500 once travel sits inside the rate. A qualified subject tutor working online sits lower, around AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IB tuition from AED 200 and TutorChase quoting AED 270 for specialist work. The gap between those bands is travel, a two-hour minimum booking convention and cancellation risk rather than teaching quality. These are market rates, not an IB Gram price list.

Why is the hourly rate the least useful number in a tutoring quote?+

Because the cheque is rate multiplied by hours, and providers publish only the first half. A tutor at AED 150 who needs thirty-two hours costs AED 4,800; one at AED 270 who needs twelve costs AED 3,240 and finishes sooner. The number of hours depends on whether the gap is technique or content, whether the work set between sessions gets done, and how early you start. All three are knowable in advance, and the first can be read from one marked script, which is why a diagnosis is worth more than a rate card.

Which months of the two Diploma years cost an Ajman family the most?+

The first term of the second year, by a clear margin. Internally assessed components close while new content is still arriving, mocks follow, and predicted grades are set, so demand for specialist hours concentrates across every family at once. Published monthly estimates for weekly one-hour specialist support in an examination year reach AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above, against AED 600 to 1,200 mid-tier. The quiet months are the first term of the first year and the weeks after the papers, when the right spend is nothing at all.

An Ajman provider quoted us a monthly figure — how do I work out what the hour costs?+

Only once you have converted it. A monthly figure hides both session length and session count, which is where comparisons go wrong. An AED 799 monthly online package seen in this market covers eight sessions, roughly AED 100 each. In-home monthly figures of AED 1,599 to 1,799 cover four two-hour visits, which works out at AED 200 to 225 per teaching hour. Same market, very different arithmetic. Ask how many sessions, how long each one is, whether marking is included, and whether unused sessions carry forward before you compare anything.

Should a tutoring quote in Ajman include VAT, and how do I ask about it?+

Ask the provider directly whether their own quoted figure is inclusive, and ask for it in writing. This page deliberately does not state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees as a matter of fact, because doing so properly requires a Federal Tax Authority citation that nobody in this market supplies, and an unsourced tax statement on a price page is worse than silence. What is reasonable to expect is that any provider can tell you plainly whether the number they quoted is what leaves your account, and can produce a tax registration number if they hold one.

When in the two Diploma years does money work hardest?+

In the summer between the two years, and almost nobody spends it there. A content gap in a Higher Level subject takes dozens of teaching hours, and a weekly hour during term gets consumed by whatever is urgent that week, so the gap never closes while new material keeps landing on top of it. A fortnight of daily hours in a quiet period works through a syllabus in sequence instead of triaging. Families who do this usually spend less in total than those buying a weekly hour for eighteen months, and start the final year without the deficit.

Do IB tutors charge more than IGCSE tutors, and is that justified?+

They generally do, and the published figures show it: Unitors lists IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Part of that is content depth, since Higher Level subjects reach further than an IGCSE syllabus. Part is scarcity, especially in a small emirate where the pool of people who can mark a Higher Level science investigation against its criteria is thin. And part is the core, because Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay need process coaching that an IGCSE tutor has never had to give. The premium is real rather than invented.

Who pays for the tutor's marking time between sessions?+

Somebody always does, and the question is whether it is named. A tutor who reads the student's work for the first time during the session has been paid a specialist rate for silent reading, which makes their rate look competitive and their hours high. A tutor who marks before the hour has absorbed that preparation into the rate, so the rate looks dearer and the hours are fewer. Over a term the second is usually cheaper and always more useful. Ask whether marking is included and whether it happens before the session or inside it.

What happens to the fee if we cancel a session during exam leave?+

Agree this before the second lesson, because the answer differs sharply by format. A cancelled online session costs a tutor one empty hour, so notice terms are usually looser. A cancelled visit costs them the hour plus the journey, which is why in-home cancellation terms are tighter and why a family that moves sessions around a school calendar pays for the flexibility. Settle three things in writing: the notice period, whether a missed session can be moved rather than forfeited, and what happens to a block during an extended school break.

Is a group class in Ajman worth the saving over one-to-one?+

It buys a different product rather than a cheaper version of the same one. At the AED 33 to 65 per-head band published by Tutopiya and EdFlik in October 2026, a group block delivers broad syllabus coverage and a cohort to pace against, which suits a student behind on content across a whole subject. What it cannot do is diagnose one student's specific loss pattern. If you do not yet know why the grade is stuck, buy the diagnosis first; coverage without diagnosis usually repeats material the student already had.

Do you send a tutor to our villa in Ajman, and what would that cost instead?+

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. Everything for an Ajman family runs one-to-one over live video at times set in Gulf Standard Time. The in-home market genuinely exists and is priced on this page so you can weigh it fairly: AED 180 to 350 an hour in the 2026 survey, AED 200 to 500 for independents once travel is inside the rate, usually with a two-hour minimum. The one thing it buys that a screen cannot is an adult in the room, which matters when supervision is the real need.

How many hours should we budget for one Higher Level subject across both years?+

It depends entirely on whether the gap is technique or content, and the diagnosis is cheap compared with guessing. Technique repairs — command terms, written method, closing an evaluative answer — are typically weeks of marked practice rather than months, so a short block plus maintenance can be enough. A missing third of a Higher Level syllabus is dozens of teaching hours and is best bought concentrated rather than weekly. Ask for the component-level marks behind the current prediction; they convert a vague worry about the subject into a countable list of movable marks.

Does a higher hourly rate mean a stronger IB tutor?+

Not reliably, and the market gives you reasons to be careful in both directions. At the top end, BartyED publishes AED 650 for premium named tutoring, and a rate at that level is a claim about scarcity rather than a proof of effectiveness. At the bottom, AED 33 to 52 generally buys group teaching or a university student rather than specialist one-to-one. What correlates with movement is far more mundane: who marks the work, against what, how quickly it comes back, and whether the plan for the next three weeks is specific enough to be proved wrong.

What should an Ajman family refuse to pay for at any price?+

Finished coursework. One operator researched in this market advertises completed internal assessments at a four-figure sum, and buying that moves the entire risk onto your child: awarding bodies treat authorship breaches as malpractice, penalties can reach a whole entry rather than one component, and the student confirms the work is their own at submission. Also refuse to pay a premium for a claimed regulator endorsement. No platform in this market holds approval from the International Baccalaureate, the Ministry of Education or an emirate authority, and IB Gram claims none.

Can we try one lesson before committing to any monthly spend?+

Yes, and that is how it is designed to work. The first lesson is a free diagnostic, no payment is taken beforehand, and there is no obligation to continue afterwards. What you receive from it is a written diagnosis: which loss patterns are present in the student's own marked work, which are weeks of work and which are a term, and what the first three weeks would target. If the honest answer is that the school's own support, a different subject or nothing at all is the better purchase, you will be told at that point rather than later.

Get the diagnosis before you get the quote

The cheapest thing you can do today is find out what is actually wrong, because the hours required follow from the diagnosis and the cost follows from the hours. Send the subject, the level, the year group, a photograph of a recent marked piece and the two evening windows your household can genuinely hold. We will arrange a free diagnostic lesson with a specialist in that subject, and afterwards you will have a written note of the loss patterns, a realistic repair time for each, and a figure for a defined block with an end date on it. If the honest recommendation is to spend nothing this term, that is what you will hear.
