Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625 Tutor in Ajman

Three students can bring a Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625 tutor in Ajman the same grade 5 and have three unrelated problems. One cannot recall the equations. One recalls them and loses the marks on the graph. One knows the physics and answers a describe question with an explain answer. This page is about telling those apart from the marked script, and about what each repair actually involves. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

Same grade, different problem: what a marked physics script tells you

Physics grades are unusually bad at saying what is wrong. A grade 5 on an Extended paper can come from four or five distinct causes that share nothing in common, and the school report cannot distinguish them because it is a summary rather than a measurement. One student has not committed the equations to recall and loses every calculation. Another recalls them and loses marks on the graph question for an unlabelled axis and a hand-drawn line of best fit. A third knows the physics and answers a four-mark describe question in one sentence because nobody has shown them what the command word is worth.

Those three students need entirely different terms. The first needs a recall programme. The second needs about three sessions on presentation and will recover marks without learning any new physics. The third needs command-word work, which is closer to English teaching than to science. A household that funds general physics revision for any of them is buying something that may not touch the actual loss, and in Ajman, where households often support two or three children at once, that matters financially as well as academically.

So the work starts with the script. A timed paper at the right tier, marked against the published scheme rather than ticked, with the multiple-choice responses read as a pattern rather than as a number. Wrong answers on a multiple-choice paper are better evidence than right ones, because distractors in 0625 are written deliberately to catch specific misconceptions, and a student who chooses the same kind of distractor repeatedly is telling you which misconception they hold.

0625 also has an element the maths subjects do not: a fifth of the grade sits in the practical component, and which route your child is on changes the evidence entirely. Paper 5 is a practical test sat in the school laboratory; Paper 6 is a written paper about experiments. Confirm which one the school entered your child for, along with the component structure and timings for the exam year, at cambridgeinternational.org. Families frequently do not know, and the two routes need different preparation. The tier matters just as much: a Core entry caps the certificate at grade C whatever is spent, so establishing it is a five-minute task that reframes every budget conversation that follows.

Everything below is built on what a marked paper can show. There is a distractor-pattern table, a ledger of the presentation marks that graphs and tables carry, an equation-recall structure, and a plain account of what the practical routes demand. Tuition is delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; IB Gram does not send tutors to addresses in Ajman, because home visiting is a service it runs only in India. In-home rates quoted here are the market's published prices, included so the comparison is honest.

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Physics at 0625 is a stage with a distinctive evidence problem: much of what a student is assessed on is technique rather than content. The notes below describe what each stage demands and what proves it is in place.

Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625

A two-year course assessed by three components. A multiple-choice paper and a theory paper, both set by tier, plus a practical component taken as either a practical test or a written alternative to practical carrying a fifth of the grade. The six topic areas are motion, forces and energy; thermal physics; waves; electricity and magnetism; nuclear physics; and space physics. There is no coursework. Confirm the structure and timings for your child's exam year at cambridgeinternational.org.

Ajman campuses differ in how much laboratory time a physics cohort actually gets, and that is the variable that decides which practical route makes sense. A school with limited laboratory access that nonetheless enters candidates for the practical test is setting up a problem, and a family is entitled to ask which paper the entry names. Several Ajman households discover the answer only when a mock arrives in the wrong format.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE Co-ordinated Sciences

The combined-science route several Ajman and Sharjah schools run instead of three separate sciences. It covers physics, chemistry and biology to a reduced depth and produces one or two grades rather than three. A student on this route is not sitting 0625 and does not need 0625 past papers, and confusing the two is the commonest reason an Ajman family books tuition that does not fit the examination.

Check the subject line on the statement of entry rather than the timetable. A child described at home as 'doing physics' may be on a co-ordinated route with a shared practical component, and the tuition plan for that is different: less depth, more breadth, and a practical paper covering three sciences rather than one.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Physics, and A Level Physics

Where a strong Extended 0625 grade leads. Both courses assume the mechanics, electricity and waves content of the IGCSE as working knowledge and open with it rather than building to it, and both expect graph and uncertainty handling that 0625 only introduces. A candidate who reached grade 6 without securing the practical skills meets that gap in the first term, and it is more expensive to close at seventeen than at fifteen.

No IB session or results date is published on this page, because the IB's own site blocks automated checking; confirm any Diploma date with the school's coordinator or on ibo.org. UAE schools sit the May session, and the internal assessment deadlines inside a school fall months earlier, which is why securing practical technique in Year 11 is cheaper than repairing it in Year 12.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The six topic areas of 0625 fail in characteristic ways, and the evidence of security differs across them. The notes below say what secure work looks like and the error that recurs when it is absent.

Motion, forces and energy: kinematics

Core and Extended

Speed, velocity, acceleration, distance-time and speed-time graphs. Secure work reads a gradient as a rate with units attached and an area under a speed-time graph as a distance. The recurring error is describing a graph rather than interpreting it: 'the line goes up' where the mark was for constant acceleration with a stated value.

Forces, moments and pressure

Core and Extended

Newton's laws, resultant force, moments, equilibrium, density and pressure. Secure work draws the forces before writing anything. The usual loss is a moment calculated with the distance measured from the wrong point, which produces a plausible number and no marks, and it is almost always a diagram habit rather than a physics gap.

Energy, work and power

Core and Extended

Energy stores and transfers, work, power, efficiency and energy resources. Secure answers name the store at the start and the store at the end rather than saying energy was lost. Efficiency questions are lost on the ratio direction, and the energy-resources content is largely recall, which makes it the cheapest block in the syllabus to repair.

Thermal physics

Core and Extended

Kinetic particle theory, thermal expansion, specific heat capacity, latent heat and the three transfer mechanisms. Secure work distinguishes temperature from internal energy explicitly. The reliable loss is a conduction or convection explanation that describes heat as a substance moving rather than as particle interaction or density change.

Waves: general properties, light and sound

Core and Extended

Reflection, refraction, dispersion, lenses, the electromagnetic spectrum and sound. Secure work in ray optics draws construction lines with a ruler and labels the normal. Marks disappear when a ray diagram is sketched freehand, because the angles are measured by the examiner, and that is a presentation loss rather than a knowledge one.

Electricity: circuits and components

Core and Extended

Charge, current, potential difference, resistance, series and parallel circuits, and circuit components. Secure work labels every meter and states whether a reading is of current or potential difference. The recurring Extended loss is parallel resistance treated as a sum, and the recurring Core loss is a circuit symbol drawn ambiguously enough to be read as something else.

Electromagnetism and electromagnetic induction

Core and Extended

Magnetic fields, the motor effect, induction, transformers and the national grid. Secure answers state the direction rule being used by name. This area sits late in most schemes of work and is therefore thin in a January mock, which makes it one of the highest-return topics for a short block of paid hours in Year 11.

Nuclear and space physics

Core and Extended

Atomic structure, radioactivity, half-life, nuclear fission and fusion, the solar system and stellar life cycles. Half-life is the one genuine calculation here and it is lost on the number of halvings rather than the method. Space physics is almost entirely recall and sits at the very end of the course, so it is frequently unexamined in school mocks and entirely examinable in the real paper.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways of running 0625 support, separated by which component the marked script says is failing. All three run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and each begins with a free 50-minute trial lesson used as a diagnostic.

Weekly one-to-one through Year 11

A fixed slot following the school's teaching order, with each session producing a written answer marked against the published scheme. The weekly pattern is what catches the presentation habits early, because an unlabelled axis spotted in October costs one session and the same habit spotted in April costs marks in the examination. Electromagnetism and space physics, which sit late in most schemes, get covered rather than skipped.

  • Tracks the school scheme rather than a generic syllabus order
  • One marked written answer out of every session
  • Graph and diagram work done with instruments, not freehand
  • Compared against the first diagnostic at week six

A practical-component block

A narrow block on the practical paper alone, which carries a fifth of the grade and is almost always the least revised part of the course. The work differs by route: for the written alternative it is method, variables, tables, graphs, sources of error and improvements; for the practical test it is reliable method and write-up habits rather than rehearsing apparatus the student will meet in their own school laboratory.

  • Which paper the school entered your child for is established first
  • Independent, dependent and control variables drilled until automatic
  • Tables ruled with units in the headings, not in the cells
  • Error and improvement answers, where most of this paper's marks go

A recall and technique block before the series

Six to ten sessions after a mock, split between equation recall and command-word discipline according to what the marked script shows. This is the purchase that moves a borderline candidate most reliably, because both of those losses are measured in marks rather than in understanding, and both respond to drill inside a fortnight.

  • Opens with a timed paper at the entered tier
  • Equation recall tested cold rather than with the formula visible
  • Describe, explain, calculate and suggest practised as distinct tasks
  • Closes with a second timed paper for a like-for-like comparison

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Ajman

01

Reading the multiple-choice paper as a pattern rather than a score

A multiple-choice physics paper is the most under-used diagnostic document a family owns. Parents see a mark out of forty and treat it as a measure of how much physics the student knows. Examiners write the alternatives on purpose: the wrong options are not random, they are the answers a student arrives at by holding a specific, well-documented misconception. A student who consistently picks the option that treats heat as a substance, or that adds parallel resistances, has given you a precise piece of information.

That turns thirty-odd wrong answers into a handful of named repairs. The student who selects the distractor corresponding to a gradient read as a value rather than as a rate has a graph-reading problem that will also be costing them marks on the theory paper. The student who picks the option where the moment is taken about the wrong pivot has a diagram habit. In both cases the multiple-choice paper has diagnosed a loss that will appear in the longer paper too, where it is worth far more marks.

The practical method is simple enough for a parent to follow. Group the wrong answers by the misconception each distractor represents, count the groups, and work on the two largest. A score tells you a student is weak; a pattern tells you what to teach on Tuesday. This is also why a diagnostic session asks the student to explain why they chose a wrong option rather than simply marking it wrong: the reasoning is the evidence, and the choice is only the trace of it.

Graphs, tables and the marks that are awarded for presentation

Physics gives marks for things that are not physics, and an evidence-led plan treats those as the cheapest marks on the paper. A graph question awards credit for labelled axes with units, a sensible scale, correctly plotted points and a line of best fit drawn with a ruler where the relationship is linear. A student who understands the experiment perfectly and sketches the line freehand loses credit that has nothing to do with their understanding, and they lose it in every series.

Tables work the same way. Units belong in the column heading rather than beside each value, readings should be given to a consistent number of decimal places, and a repeated reading needs a mean that is calculated rather than estimated. These are rules, not insights. They take one session to teach, a fortnight to become automatic, and they appear on both the theory paper and the practical component, which means the hours spent on them are paid back twice.

The reason this belongs near the front of a plan rather than at the end is psychological as much as practical. A student who has been told for two years that they are weak at physics, and who then recovers eight or nine marks in a fortnight by learning to rule a line and label an axis, starts the content work from a different place. It is also the clearest evidence a parent will see: the same student, the same physics, a visibly different script.

Equation recall, and proving a formula is available under pressure

0625 expects a candidate to bring equations with them rather than to be handed them, which makes recall a separately testable thing. Confirm for your child's exam year which relationships are provided and which must be remembered, at cambridgeinternational.org, because this is exactly the kind of detail that changes between syllabus versions and that a tutor working from memory gets wrong.

The evidence problem is that recall in a quiet room with a textbook nearby is not the same as recall in the fortieth minute of a paper. So the test used here is cold: a blank sheet, a topic named, and every relationship the student can produce, written out with the quantities defined and the units attached. What comes back is usually revealing. Students often hold the equation and not the units, or hold it in one rearranged form only, which fails the moment a question asks for a different variable.

The repair is retrieval practice rather than copying. Equations grouped by topic, tested cold at the start of each session, with the gaps recorded so the record shows which group is secure and which is not. Rearrangement is drilled separately, because a student who can only use a formula in the form they memorised it in will lose marks on roughly half the calculations that use it. None of this is sophisticated teaching. It is bookkeeping, and it is the single most reliable way to move a physics calculation mark.

04

Paper 5 or Paper 6: which practical route, and what each needs

A fifth of the 0625 grade sits in the practical component, and there are two quite different ways of sitting it. The practical test is taken in the school laboratory with apparatus; the written alternative is a paper about experiments, sat at a desk. Both carry the same weight. Which one applies is a decision the school makes when it enters candidates, and a surprising number of Ajman families do not know the answer until a mock arrives in an unexpected format.

The preparation differs in ways that matter. For the written alternative, almost everything is teachable at a distance: identifying independent, dependent and control variables, designing a table before taking readings, plotting, describing a method precisely enough for somebody else to follow, and answering the error and improvement questions where most of this paper's marks are decided. Those last two question types are where candidates reliably lose most, and they reward a rehearsed structure.

For the practical test the honest position is narrower. A tutor cannot stand in an Ajman school laboratory and should not pretend otherwise. What can be done is the part that actually fails: the write-up. Students lose this paper not by misusing apparatus but by recording readings untidily, forgetting repeats, omitting units, drawing the graph badly and writing an improvement that is not an improvement. All of that is paper work, all of it is marked, and all of it can be drilled over a shared screen before the student ever touches the equipment.

05

Describe, explain, calculate, suggest: the command words and their marks

A large share of physics marks lost by competent students are lost to the first word of the question. Describe wants what happens, in sequence, with no reasoning required. Explain wants the mechanism and the because. Calculate wants a number with a unit and working visible. Suggest invites a reasoned possibility and accepts more than one answer. State wants a single short answer and nothing more. Students who treat all five as 'write what you know about this' lose marks on four of them.

The clue is the mark allocation printed beside the question, and teaching a student to read it is one of the highest-return habits available. A four-mark explain question wants four distinct creditable points, which usually means four sentences, each adding something. A one-mark state question receiving a paragraph wastes time that the last two questions on the paper needed. In marked scripts from this market, a mismatch between the mark allocation and the length of the answer is among the most common patterns visible.

This is also why physics tuition sometimes looks like English tuition for a session or two. The exercise is taking a marked answer, counting the creditable points the scheme awarded, and rewriting it so each one is unmistakable. For a student whose first language is not English, which is a large proportion of candidates in Ajman, this work is worth more than another topic review, because it affects every question on both papers rather than one area of content.

06

Why a physics grade moves later than a maths grade

Families who have bought maths tuition before often expect physics to behave the same way, and it does not. A maths repair tends to show up quickly, because a technique learned in October is used in November. Physics is more synoptic: an electricity question in a mock draws on circuit relationships, graph work, unit discipline and command-word reading all at once, so a repair to one of those four may barely change the mark until the other three are also in place.

The practical consequence is about expectations rather than about method. A ledger showing presentation marks recovered and content gaps still open is a plan working correctly at week six, even though the overall paper mark may have moved very little. Families who have not been told this read a flat mark as failure and either stop or double the hours, and both responses are expensive. The record is there precisely so that partial progress is visible before the total changes.

There is a scheduling consequence too. Because physics marks move in steps rather than smoothly, the review points matter more: a timed paper at week six and another at week ten, with the ledgers set side by side, rather than a continuous sense of how things are going. And because electromagnetism and space physics sit at the end of most schemes of work, a January mock systematically understates what a candidate will know in May, which is another reason to read the pattern rather than the number.

07

Reading the published rates as a signal of specialism

The published AED bands in this market are not really a quality ladder; they are a specialism ladder, and reading them that way makes a budget decision easier. At the bottom, budget and university-student online tuition is advertised from roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik publishing from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from about AED 33 to 52. That band buys supervision and routine. It does not usually buy somebody who has marked a practical paper against its scheme.

The middle band, roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour for a qualified online subject tutor with Unitors publishing IGCSE tuition from AED 150, is where syllabus-specific physics work sits: somebody who knows that the error-and-improvement questions decide the practical paper and that parallel resistance is the Extended distractor. Above that, named IB and IGCSE specialists run AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270, and premium or examiner-led tuition reaches AED 500 to 650 and above, with BartyED publishing AED 650.

In-home visits sit alongside at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour including travel, with Bestimate quoting AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors AED 200 to 500. For physics in Ajman the in-home option carries a specific weakness: the pool narrows to people who will drive to your district at your hour, and separate-science physics specialists are thin on the ground in the northern emirates. Every figure here was published by the named provider and collected in October 2026. They are market rates rather than an IB Gram price list, and any provider should be asked for the date and source of its own.

08

School practical work, and the line a physics tutor does not cross

0625 has no coursework, so there is no portfolio for anyone to improve on a student's behalf. What does exist is school practical work: write-ups, investigations and mock papers that a teacher collects and sometimes grades towards a report. The boundary there is the same one that applies to assessed work anywhere in the system, and it is worth stating plainly because one operator found in this market sells completed assessed work outright, which is an academic-integrity breach that puts the student at risk of malpractice proceedings.

A tutor may teach how a method is written, work through a parallel experiment that is not the set one, explain why a conclusion does not follow from the data, and mark a student's own write-up against the published criteria while naming exactly which mark was forfeited. A tutor does not produce the write-up a student submits. In an evidence-led plan that line is structural: a ledger assembled from somebody else's work describes nothing, and a grade built on it fails in a room where nobody can be asked.

Materials follow the same rule. Cambridge syllabuses, past papers, mark schemes and grade thresholds belong to Cambridge, are published on its own site, and are referenced and linked rather than reproduced or handed out as downloads. No tutor here is described as a Cambridge examiner unless that status can be evidenced, because examiner status is used across this market to imply access to marking standards and paper content that nobody outside the board actually has.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Ajman

What varies across Ajman for a physics family is laboratory access at school and workable space at home, both of which affect the practical component more than the theory. These notes are about those two things.

Al Nuaimiya

Central Ajman with the emirate's longest-established campuses, generally the ones with the most settled science departments. A candidate here is more likely to be on a genuine practical-test route, which changes what the preparation has to cover.

Al Rashidiya

Older Ajman near the commercial strip and the Corniche. Apartment living dominates, so the limiting factor for a physics session is a quiet surface big enough to draw a ray diagram with a ruler, which sounds trivial and is not.

Al Jurf

Mixed residential near the university area, with several households supporting children across different curricula. Where one child is on separate sciences and another on a co-ordinated route, the two need different past papers and the entry documents are the only way to tell.

Al Mowaihat

Inland villa communities with long school runs. Students here routinely arrive home late, and a physics session that produces drawn work needs the student alert, so the slot choice affects the quality of the evidence as much as the attendance.

Al Yasmeen

Newer residential development towards the southern edge. Resident physics specialists are scarce here, and the practical paper is exactly the content where a generalist tutor is least useful, so matching on syllabus experience matters more than proximity.

Al Zorah and the Corniche

Waterfront villas and apartments. Households here often have good study space, which helps with the drawn and graphed work physics demands; the constraint is more often the evening schedule than the room.

Emirates City and Al Alia

High-rise towers near the Sharjah boundary with a young, largely expatriate population. Many parents work in Dubai and are home after 7pm, which pushes physics sessions late and means written work is better set for the next day than the same night.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Establish the tier and the practical route

Two facts settle what any plan can do: whether your child is entered for Core or Extended, and whether the practical component is the practical test or the written alternative. A Core entry caps the certificate at grade C, and the two practical routes need different preparation. Both answers are on the entry documents, and both are worth getting in writing from the school.

  2. 02

Use the free 50-minute trial as a diagnostic

The trial is a working session. The student attempts a short multiple-choice set, a graph question and a four-mark explain question, and the tutor marks it live against the published criteria, grouping the losses into recall, presentation, command-word and content categories. That grouping is the plan. No payment is arranged before this session takes place.

  3. 03

Fund the presentation and recall repairs first

Axis labels, ruled lines of best fit, units in table headings and cold equation recall are the fastest marks on the paper and they need no new physics. Running them in the first fortnight gives a family visible movement early and gives a discouraged student a reason to continue into the content work that takes longer.

  4. 04

Set a slot the written work can survive

Sessions run on Gulf Standard Time, late enough for an Ajman household where a parent drives back from Sharjah or Dubai, but early enough that drawn and graphed work is produced by an alert student. Where the only workable hour is after 8pm, written work is set for the following day rather than the same evening.

  5. 05

Review at week six, re-test at week ten

Physics marks move in steps, so the review points are explicit. At week six the loss groups are compared against the diagnostic. At week ten a second timed paper is sat and the two records are placed side by side. A flat total with presentation marks recovered is a plan working; if nothing has moved at all, the approach changes rather than the hours increasing.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Wrong answers are treated as data

A multiple-choice paper is read as a pattern of misconceptions rather than as a score out of forty, because 0625 distractors are written to catch specific errors. Grouping the wrong answers names the two repairs worth making, which is a far more actionable output than a mark and takes one session to produce.

Presentation marks are recovered before content is taught

Labelled axes, ruled lines of best fit, units in table headings and consistent decimal places are credited on both the theory paper and the practical component. They are rules rather than insights, they move marks inside a fortnight, and funding them first is the cheapest visible progress available in this subject.

Equation recall is tested cold

Recall with a textbook nearby is not recall in the fortieth minute of a paper. Relationships are tested on a blank sheet, grouped by topic, with quantities defined and units attached, and the gaps are recorded. Rearrangement is drilled separately, because a formula held in one form only fails half the calculations that use it.

The practical route is established before anything is sold

A fifth of the grade sits in the practical component and the two routes need different preparation. Where a candidate is on the practical test, the honest offer is write-up technique rather than apparatus rehearsal, and that limit is stated rather than glossed over.

Step progress is explained in advance

Physics is synoptic, so a repair to one of four contributing skills may barely move a paper mark until the others follow. Families are told that at the start, because reading a flat mark as failure at week six is the most expensive misunderstanding in this subject and it leads to either stopping or doubling the hours.

The limits are published alongside the offer

Lessons are online, one-to-one and on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to Ajman addresses, holds no Cambridge or Ministry of Education accreditation, and does not produce work a student will submit. In-home figures quoted here are the market's published prices, included so the comparison can be made properly.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Ajman: your questions answered

My son has a grade 5 in physics. What does that actually tell you?+

On its own, almost nothing useful. A grade 5 on an Extended paper can come from unrecalled equations, from presentation forfeits on graph and table questions, from command-word mismatches, from a thin practical component, or from genuine content gaps in one or two topic areas. Those need completely different terms of work and different amounts of money. The marked script distinguishes them in about forty minutes, which is why the first session produces a timed paper rather than a plan. Ask any tutor what they would want to see before quoting a number of hours; the answer tells you a lot.

Why are wrong multiple-choice answers more useful than the score?+

Because the alternatives are written deliberately. Examiners build each wrong option around a documented misconception, so a student who repeatedly selects the option that adds parallel resistances, or that reads a gradient as a value rather than a rate, has identified their own problem. Grouping the wrong answers by the misconception each one represents turns a mark out of forty into two or three named repairs, and those same misconceptions are usually costing more marks on the longer theory paper than on the multiple-choice paper itself.

Can my daughter really gain marks just by ruling a line properly?+

Yes, and it is among the fastest mark recovery available in 0625. Graph questions credit labelled axes with units, a sensible scale using most of the grid, accurately plotted points and a line of best fit drawn with a ruler where the relationship is linear. A student who understands the experiment and sketches the line freehand forfeits credit that has nothing to do with their physics. Tables work the same way, with units belonging in the column headings and readings given to consistent precision. These are rules, they take a session to teach, and they are credited on both the theory paper and the practical component.

Which practical paper has my child been entered for?+

Check the entry documents rather than assuming, because the two routes are genuinely different. One is a practical test sat in the school laboratory with apparatus; the other is a written paper about experiments, sat at a desk. Both carry a fifth of the grade. The school decides when it enters candidates, and many Ajman families find out only when a mock arrives in an unexpected format. Ask the exams officer or the head of science in writing, then confirm the component structure for your child's exam year at cambridgeinternational.org before buying any practical preparation.

Can an online tutor prepare a student for the practical test?+

For the part that actually loses marks, yes. Students rarely fail that paper by misusing apparatus; they lose it by recording readings untidily, forgetting repeats, omitting units, plotting badly and writing an improvement that is not an improvement. All of that is paper work and all of it can be drilled over a shared screen. What a tutor cannot do is stand in an Ajman school laboratory, and nobody should pretend otherwise. If a provider implies it can supervise the apparatus work remotely, treat that claim with real scepticism and ask exactly what the session involves.

Does 0625 give my child the equations, or must they be remembered?+

Confirm it for your child's exam year at cambridgeinternational.org, because this is precisely the detail that changes between syllabus versions and that a tutor working from memory gets wrong. What is constant is the testing method used here: recall is checked cold, on a blank sheet, with quantities defined and units attached, because remembering a relationship with a textbook nearby is not the same as producing it in the fortieth minute of a paper. Rearrangement is drilled separately, since a formula held in only the memorised form fails roughly half the calculations that use it.

Why has my daughter's physics mark not moved after six weeks?+

Possibly because physics is synoptic and the mark moves in steps. An electricity question draws on circuit relationships, graph skill, unit discipline and command-word reading at the same time, so repairing one of those four may not change the total until the others follow. That is why the record tracks loss categories rather than the paper mark alone: presentation marks recovered with content gaps still open is a plan working correctly at week six. If nothing at all has moved in any category, the approach changes rather than the hours increasing.

What is the difference between a describe and an explain question in physics?+

Describe wants what happens, in sequence, with no reasoning required. Explain wants the mechanism, and the word because should be doing work in the answer. Calculate wants a number with a unit and visible working. Suggest invites a reasoned possibility and accepts more than one answer. State wants one short answer and nothing else. The mark allocation printed beside the question tells a student how many creditable points to produce, and a mismatch between that number and the length of the answer is among the most common patterns in marked scripts from this market.

Does a Core physics entry limit what tutoring can achieve?+

Yes, and it is the first thing to establish. Core candidates sit the Core multiple-choice and theory papers, and the certificate is capped at grade C regardless of how many hours are bought. Extended candidates sit the Extended papers with the full range available. A secure grade C is a real and sometimes exactly correct outcome, but paying specialist rates in the hope of an A on a Core entry is buying something the entry cannot award. Ask the school in writing which tier your child is entered for and when that decision was or will be made.

Is separate physics the same as my son's co-ordinated science course?+

No, and the confusion is a common and expensive one in Ajman. Co-ordinated Sciences covers physics, chemistry and biology to a reduced depth and produces one or two grades rather than three, with a practical component spanning all three subjects. A student on that route is not sitting 0625 and does not need 0625 past papers. Read the subject line on the statement of entry rather than relying on how the course is described at home, because tuition pointed at the wrong specification wastes about six weeks before anybody notices what has happened.

Which physics topics are usually missing from a January mock?+

Electromagnetism and electromagnetic induction, and space physics, because both sit at the end of most schemes of work and the mock is set on what has been taught. That has two consequences. A January mock systematically understates what a candidate will know by the summer, so the mark should be read as a diagnostic of the taught content rather than as a prediction. And those late topics are among the highest-return targets for a short block of paid hours, because they are examinable in full and largely unrehearsed.

How should I read the published hourly rates for physics support in Ajman?+

As a specialism ladder rather than a quality ladder. Budget and university-student online tuition is advertised from roughly AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik publishing from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from about AED 33 to 52, and that band buys routine rather than scheme-accurate marking. Qualified online subject tutors publish roughly AED 150 to 300, with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150. Named specialists sit at AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270, and premium tuition reaches AED 500 to 650 and above. Those are market figures collected October 2026, not an IB Gram price list.

Will a tutor write up my son's physics investigation for him?+

No. A tutor may teach how a method is written, work through a parallel experiment that is not the set one, explain why a conclusion does not follow from the data, and mark his own write-up against the published criteria while naming each forfeited mark. A tutor does not produce the work he submits. In an evidence-led plan that line is structural rather than decorative, because a record assembled from somebody else's work measures nothing. One operator in this market sells completed assessed work; that is a malpractice risk for the student and nothing here resembles it.

What if no separate-science physics specialist is free in our evening slot?+

You will be told before anything is booked. Separate-science physics at Extended with practical-paper experience is a narrower specialism than general science tutoring, and the post-7pm slots most Ajman commuting households need are the ones that fill first. The options then are a different hour, a short wait for one to open, or a named specialist based outside the UAE teaching on Gulf Standard Time, disclosed in advance along with the rate. What you will not be offered is a general science tutor presented as a physics specialist.

Does a private tutor in Ajman need a permit to teach my child physics?+

Yes. The u.ae portal records that the private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years, with eligibility covering registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Individuals tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no schedule of amounts is published anywhere. The application route is MoHRE's own private tutor licensing service, which lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time.

Send the mock paper, not the grade

A physics grade cannot tell you what to buy, and a marked script can. Send your child's most recent paper, including the multiple-choice sheet with the wrong answers still on it, together with the entry documents showing the tier and which practical route the school chose. The free 50-minute trial lesson then produces a short timed set, marked live against the published criteria, with the losses grouped into recall, presentation, command-word and content. From there the plan is arithmetic rather than guesswork. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and if no specialist is free at your hour you will hear that rather than a substitute.
