IGCSE Home Tutor in Al Raha Beach

The price of an IGCSE home tutor in Al Raha Beach is not the first number a family should look at. The first number is zero, because two support options are already inside your school fees, and the second is the cost of hiring the wrong person for a term, which is larger than any hourly rate in this market. This page costs all of it, names the hidden extras, and attributes every AED figure to the source that published it.

IB & IGCSE in Al Raha Beach

Price the whole decision, starting at zero

Al Raha Beach families pay substantial school fees and then, often, add a tutoring line without pricing it against what the fees already cover. That is the first and most expensive habit worth breaking. Two of the support options available to a Year 10 or 11 student cost nothing extra: the school's own departmental catch-up and teacher clinics, and the examination boards' published syllabuses, past papers and mark schemes. For absence and for a single specific misunderstanding, the free options are not merely cheaper, they are better informed.

The second habit worth breaking is treating the hourly rate as the cost. It is not. The cost of a tutoring arrangement is the hourly rate multiplied by the hours, plus the extras nobody mentions at the start, plus the value of a term spent on the wrong thing if the match is poor. That third component does not appear on any pricing page in this market and it is frequently the largest of the three.

The published bands are these, each attributed. Entry-level online tuition runs AED 45-150 an hour, with EdFlik advertising from AED 45-65 and Tutopiya from AED 33-52. A qualified subject tutor working online sits at AED 150-300, and Unitors publishes International GCSE tuition from AED 150. An in-home one-to-one visit with travel included runs AED 180-500, with Bestimate quoting AED 180-350 and independent home tutors quoting AED 200-500. Specialist International GCSE and A Level tutors run AED 200-450 and upwards, with TutorChase at AED 270, and BartyED publishes AED 650 for a premium named tutor.

Monthly, Bestimate's 2026 estimates for weekly one-hour sessions are AED 240-600 at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Package pricing in this market includes around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. None of those figures are IB Gram's prices; they are market rates published by the providers and surveys named, and they are here so that you can judge any quote you receive, including ours.

What that spread means in practice is that the same two-year course can cost a family a few thousand dirhams or well into five figures per subject, and the difference is almost entirely about how many hours are bought rather than what is paid per hour. A family that buys a bounded repair block after a diagnosis spends a fraction of what a family buying a continuous weekly arrangement from the start of Year 10 spends, and the evidence rarely favours the second.

IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Abu Dhabi families are taught one-to-one over live video, which removes the travel component from the rate entirely. The rest of this page costs the alternatives properly, names the extras to ask about, and sets out when to stop paying.

At a glance

  • Two support options cost nothing extra: school provision and the boards' own materials
  • The real cost is rate times hours, plus extras, plus the price of a poor match
  • Published online band AED 150-300; in-home band AED 180-500 with travel
  • Monthly estimates run AED 240-600 budget, AED 600-1,200 mid, AED 1,000-2,000+ specialist
  • Hours bought matter more to the total than the rate paid per hour
  • Lessons for Abu Dhabi families are delivered one-to-one over live video
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Cost varies by specification because the hour counts do. These are the programmes an Al Raha Beach family will be buying support for, with the spending shape each one implies.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

Two terminal written papers per subject with no coursework in most cases, split into Core and Extended routes. The spending shape is bimodal: a small amount early on the skills that compound, then a concentrated block of timed-paper work in the final terms. The long middle stretch is where continuous arrangements consume budget without adding much.

Cambridge runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series. The February and March series is offered to India only and does not apply to a UAE candidate. Cambridge allocates each exam centre to one of six administrative zones, states it is essential to use the correct timetable version for your zone, and says it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Tiered into Foundation and Higher with two written papers at each tier. Longer unsignposted problem-solving items at Higher tier are a practised skill rather than a body of content, which means they need spaced work across months rather than a late block, and that changes the spending profile.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE exams are available in May/June and November each year. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026; November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, and June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students the following day. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series.

0606Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics

Single tier, sat alongside 0580, with calculus and identities a year early. The one International GCSE entry where a continuous weekly arrangement is genuinely good value rather than a default, because there is no Year 10 runway and no realistic late block that covers it.

Also the scarcest specialism in this market, which affects price indirectly: a narrow pool means fewer competing quotes. Where a school near Al Raha Beach offers 0606, it is the best available bridge to AS Level or to Analysis and Approaches at higher level.

ASALAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

Cambridge International AS and A Level

The next stage for students whose school does not run the Diploma, and worth costing now because sixth-form class sizes are smaller and school support is correspondingly more generous. That makes the free option genuinely strong at AS Level and reduces the case for a paid continuous arrangement.

The Ministry of Education's British-track equivalency route asks for one accredited Advanced Level subject at no less than grade E, or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade, on top of five International GCSE passes at no less than E or grade 3. Worth knowing before paying for subjects that will not count.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Not every subject repays the same spend. These entries say what each one needs and therefore whether a paid hour there is good value or avoidable.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core, Extended, Foundation, Higher

The subject where paid hours most reliably convert into marks, because the failures are specific procedures breaking and somebody has to watch a student work to find them. Also the subject where early spending outperforms late spending, since fluency builds over months.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Good value in a bounded block on electricity and magnetism plus graph discipline for the practical-skills paper. Poor value as a continuous arrangement, because much of the content is recall the student can handle with the board's own materials.

Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Split the subject deliberately. Mole calculations and electrolysis half-equations justify paid attention; qualitative analysis tests and organic conditions are recall that a peer group or self-study handles for nothing.

Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core and Extended

The largest content volume in the sciences and the weakest case for continuous one-to-one, because most of the work is recall. The high-value paid hour here is command-term discipline, which is a technique block rather than a term of teaching.

English Language (0500 / 4EA1)

First Language

Needs individual feedback on the student's own writing, which is the one thing a group cannot provide and the one thing the class teacher provides free as part of marking. Ask the school before paying anyone for this.

English Literature (0475)

Single tier

Quotation banks and essay structure are buildable alone with the set texts and the board's published papers. The paid hour that earns its place is feedback on a timed essay the student wrote, which is narrow and cheap.

Economics (0455)

Single tier

Diagram accuracy can be drilled from published materials for nothing. Evaluation technique needs somebody reading the student's own paragraphs and saying where the judgement is missing, which is a genuinely good use of a few paid hours.

Business Studies (0450)

Single tier

Case-study application is a technique rather than content, which makes a short block unusually efficient. A term of weekly sessions on this subject is almost always more than it needs.

Computer Science (0478)

Single tier

Pseudocode and trace tables are mechanical and can be drilled alone against published past papers. Among the weakest cases in the specification for sustained paid support, and among the strongest for a two-session technique fix.

Additional Mathematics (0606)

Single tier

The exception to everything above. New content in Year 11 with no runway, multi-step questions without scaffolding, and a scarce tutor pool. This is the one entry where continuous weekly support across the year is the right purchase.

Geography (0460)

Single tier

Case studies with their specific figures are memory work, best spread across months and done largely for free. Skills questions on maps and graphs are a short drillable block, which is where a paid hour belongs.

Arabic as a First or Additional Language

First Language and Foreign Language

Required alongside the licensed international curriculum under federal rules covering Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies. Content is prescribed and may not be substituted, so support must follow the school's own approved material and the school is the first place to ask.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Four shapes of support with their cost implications stated. All are delivered one-to-one over live video; IB Gram does not attend UAE addresses.

Diagnostic session, one off

The cheapest useful purchase in this market. One session, one marked paper, one written output: named topics rather than general weaknesses plus an honest estimate of the hours a repair needs. Some families take the list to their school and spend nothing further, which is a legitimate outcome.

  • A single session with a written deliverable
  • Named topics, not a restatement of the problem
  • An hour estimate you can act on anywhere
  • No obligation to continue

Bounded repair block

Three to six sessions on one named problem with a defined end point. Priced as a block, which makes it the easiest arrangement in this market to budget and to evaluate: if the problem is not fixed by the end, the block failed and you will know rather than wonder.

  • Fixed session count agreed before starting
  • One problem at a time, finished before the next
  • Built on the student's own marked work
  • Ends with a timed set on that problem alone

Pre-series paper block

A compressed block in the final terms where papers are sat under conditions and marked together. Ninety-minute sessions, which costs more per session and less per mark, because a sixty-minute slot forces the marking to be cut and the marking is the part that teaches.

  • Two or three sessions a week in the run-in
  • Each paper marked against the published scheme
  • A ranked topic list that must shorten
  • Ends at the series, not afterwards

Continuous weekly, where it is justified

Genuinely right for Additional Mathematics 0606, where there is no Year 10 runway, and for a student with multiple diagnosed gaps in a subject that underpins others. Wrong as a default. We will say which of those two situations we think you are in.

  • Reviewed at every half term against evidence
  • Stopped when the ranked topic list is empty
  • Not the default recommendation
  • Justified in writing or not sold

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Raha Beach

01

The full price list, from nothing upwards

Set out from zero, the options separate by what each tranche of money actually buys. The first two tiers cost nothing and solve real problems. The middle tiers buy content coverage at a low price. The upper tiers buy individual diagnosis, which is the only thing money reliably buys in this market that nothing cheaper provides.

At zero sits school provision: departmental catch-up sessions, subject clinics and the class teacher's own marking, all inside fees you have already paid. Also at zero sit the boards' own published materials, which are authoritative and largely unopened. A student who has never read a mark scheme for their own specification has an unused asset of real value, and no fee will produce a better one.

Above that, entry-level online tuition at AED 45-150 an hour buys supervision and content recap, which is useful for a capable but disorganised student and inadequate for a candidate needing technique. A qualified subject tutor at AED 150-300 buys teaching to a named specification. An in-home visit at AED 180-500 buys the same teaching plus a journey. A specialist at AED 200-450 and upwards buys paper-level technique and mark-scheme work. A premium named tutor at AED 500-650 or more buys scarcity and availability.

The table sets these out with what each tier genuinely delivers. Read the column on the right rather than the one with the numbers in it, because the question that matters is not what a tier costs but whether what it buys is what your child's marked paper says they need.

The extras nobody mentions at the start

An hourly rate is the beginning of a quote rather than the whole of it, and the differences between providers sit in the terms rather than the headline. Five questions surface almost all of it, and asking them before the first session costs nothing and occasionally changes the decision entirely.

Is the price per hour or per lesson, and how long is a lesson? A provider quoting per session at ninety minutes and one quoting per hour are not comparable until you convert. Is there a minimum commitment, a block you must buy, or a notice period? Several providers in this market sell monthly packages, including around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions, and a package is a commitment rather than a discount unless you use all of it.

What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy, and who bears a missed session? This is where in-home and online arrangements differ sharply. If a school day overruns, an online session moves and an in-home session is either taken late with the tutor waiting or lost. Across two years that is a real number of paid hours, and it belongs in the comparison rather than being discovered in March.

Does the quoted price include VAT? Ask, and ask for the answer in writing. We do not state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition as a fact on this page, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority source and we have not published one; what a parent can reasonably require is a clear statement from any provider about whether the figure they quoted is the figure you pay. And finally: what happens if we stop after one lesson? A free trial with no card details taken answers that question before it arises, which is why ours works that way.

03

The cost of the wrong tutor, priced out

  • A mismatched tutor costs the fee plus two terms of the student's own effort
  • Tier is the other first-ten-minutes failure, and it caps a grade regardless of work done
  • Get board, code and tier in writing before paying anyone
  • Ask which code the tutor teaches most weeks, not whether they can teach yours

This is the number that belongs at the top of every tutoring pricing page and appears on none of them. Suppose a family hires a competent tutor who does not know their child's specification: a Cambridge 0580 specialist for a Pearson 4MB1 entry, or a generalist working from a Year 11 scheme rather than the actual syllabus. The teaching is not bad. It is simply aimed slightly wrong.

Price it. A weekly session at the mid-band AED 150-300 across two terms is twenty-odd hours. At the lower end that is a few thousand dirhams; at the upper end considerably more. But the fee is the smaller loss. The larger one is twenty-odd hours of the student's own time spent practising for a slightly different examination, plus the two terms in which the real gaps went undiagnosed and compounded, plus the final-term scramble that follows when the mock reveals it.

The same arithmetic applies to tier. A student capped on Core or Foundation whose tutor never asked about the tier can work hard for a year and be awarded a grade they could not exceed. The tutoring was not wasted in any absolute sense; it was spent on the wrong question. That is a failure of the first ten minutes of the relationship, not of the teaching.

The protection is cheap and specific. Establish the board, the syllabus code and the tier in writing from the school before paying anyone. Send one marked paper and require a diagnosis that names topics. Ask which code the tutor teaches most weeks. Those three steps take an evening, cost nothing, and remove the largest single risk in this market, which no amount of paying a higher rate addresses.

04

Which subjects deserve the money

A household with a fixed budget and three weak subjects has to choose, and the choice should follow what each subject's failures actually respond to rather than which grade looks worst. Some subjects convert paid hours into marks reliably. Others are mostly recall, where the same money buys very little that free materials and a peer group do not.

Mathematics is the strongest case. The failures are specific procedures breaking in the middle of a method, and finding them requires somebody watching one student work. No group class, mark scheme or revision guide does that. It is also the subject where early spending outperforms late spending, because fluency is built over months, which makes it the one place a Year 10 block is good value.

The sciences are mixed and should be split deliberately. Mole calculations, energetics, electricity and magnetism, and graph discipline on the practical-skills paper justify paid attention. Qualitative analysis tests, organic reaction conditions, and the large recall volume in Biology do not; they are peer-group and self-study territory, and a family paying a specialist rate to hear definitions repeated is overspending substantially.

The essay subjects divide differently again. What they need is individual feedback on the student's own writing, which a group cannot give and which the class teacher gives free as part of normal marking. The right move is to ask the school first and then buy a small number of hours for timed essay feedback if the school's capacity is genuinely exhausted. The table sets out the ranking.

Three spending patterns across two years, compared

The same family, the same child and three different plans produce very different totals and surprisingly similar outcomes, with one exception. Setting them side by side is the most useful thing a cost page can do, because almost nobody does the arithmetic before committing.

The first pattern is continuous weekly from the start of Year 10, in one subject, at the mid-band. Roughly seventy paid hours, most of them during a stretch when the school is teaching the same content at the same time. It is the most expensive pattern and it is also the most common, because it is what happens when a family starts a weekly session and never revisits the decision.

The second is targeted: a diagnostic, a Year 10 fluency block, a tier review if relevant, and a post-mock paper block. Perhaps twenty-five to thirty paid hours in total, concentrated where the school has least capacity and where a paid hour therefore adds most. It costs under half as much and in most cases achieves more, because every hour is aimed at something named.

The third is minimal: free options only, with one diagnostic session to decide whether anything more is needed. Some families genuinely need nothing beyond this, particularly where the child is capable and the problem is organisation. The exception to all of it is Additional Mathematics 0606, where new content arrives in Year 11 with no runway and the continuous pattern is the correct one. The table compares them.

The free tier, costed properly

  • School clinics require no journey for a student already on campus
  • The syllabus states exactly what is examinable at each tier
  • Learning to read a mark scheme critically is the highest-leverage free gain
  • The free tier stops at diagnosis, which is where paid hours belong

Calling something free invites scepticism, so it is worth being specific about what the zero-cost options actually contain and where they stop. School provision typically includes departmental catch-up sessions, subject clinics or drop-ins after the taught day, and the class teacher's marking and feedback on classwork and assessments. For an Al Raha Beach student attending a campus a short drive away, attending a clinic adds no journey at all because they are already on site.

The boards' own published material includes the syllabus document, which states exactly what is examinable at each tier, past papers, mark schemes and published timetables. A student who learns to read a mark scheme critically gets more from every paper they attempt afterwards, including the ones they attempt alone, which makes that one skill the highest-leverage free gain available.

We do not reproduce or distribute Cambridge, Pearson or IB syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables or subject guides, and a provider offering a downloadable library of them is offering something that is not theirs to give. They belong to the boards, are published through the boards' own channels and reach students through their school. Reference them and read them at source.

Where the free tier stops is diagnosis. School provision is capacity-limited and a teacher with a full class has limited time to watch one student work through a method and find the step that fails. Published materials tell a student what the answer was, not why theirs was wrong. That boundary is exactly where a paid hour earns its place, and knowing where it falls is what stops a family paying for the part they already have.

07

When to stop paying

  • Stop when a bounded block's closing timed set is passed
  • Stop when the ranked topic list is empty and scores have plateaued
  • Stop at the series; nothing helps after the final paper
  • If nothing has moved in six weeks, change the plan rather than continuing

Every cost page in this market explains how to start and none explains how to stop, which is why the commonest overspend is an arrangement that outlived its purpose. There are three clear stopping points and a family that uses them spends substantially less than one that does not.

The first is when a bounded block ends. A repair block finishes with a timed set on the problem it was bought to fix. If the set is passed, the block is done and the honest next step is nothing, not a continuation at the same rate on a different topic chosen by default. The second is when the ranked topic list is empty. In any paper-based block the output is a list of what is costing the most marks, updated after each marked paper; when it is empty and scores have plateaued near the top of what the papers offer, the work is finished.

The third is the examination. A run-in ends at the series. There is no version of tutoring that helps after the final paper, and a monthly arrangement that rolls past it is simply a billing arrangement. For a November resit the decision to restart should be made deliberately within a fortnight of results rather than by letting a package continue.

The test that catches a drifting arrangement is the same one that justifies starting it: evidence. Is the named topic list shorter than it was? Are timed scores moving? If neither has changed in six weeks, the plan should change rather than continue, and a provider who will not say that out loud is the one you are most likely to keep paying. We would rather tell a family the work is finished, because a block that visibly ended is a better advertisement than a subscription that never did.

08

What the schedule costs you, and why online removes part of it

  • Several large campuses nearby means a wider evening than most Abu Dhabi communities
  • 17:00 is workable for most households; 16:30 for those nearest their campus
  • In-home arrangements lose sessions to traffic; online ones move them
  • No part of an online rate pays for a journey

Time is a cost too, and in this corridor it is a visible one. Campuses serving Al Raha Beach finish their taught day between about 14:45 and 15:30, with co-curricular sessions later on some days. The community's advantage is that several large campuses are a short drive away, so arrival home is often between 15:40 and 16:15. Allowing three quarters of an hour at home, a workable session start is 17:00 for most households and 16:30 for those closest to their campus.

Our Abu Dhabi scheduling range runs from 16:30 to 21:00 Gulf Standard Time, and across two years the slots that survive are 18:00 and 18:30. The relevance to cost is simple: a slot that only works on a quiet week will break within a fortnight, and a broken slot in a paid arrangement is a session you budgeted for and did not receive.

In-home arrangements carry two further time costs that online ones do not. A session taken late because the school run overran is time the tutor spent waiting and you paid for. A session lost to traffic or to a closed road is a session gone. Online, both cases become a reschedule to later the same evening at no cost to either side, which across a two-year arrangement is a meaningful number of delivered hours.

IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. The practical effect on price is that no part of a rate pays for a journey, and the practical effect on delivery is that the hours you agree are the hours that happen. Published market bands for comparison, attributed above, put in-home at AED 180-500 an hour against AED 150-300 for a qualified tutor working online.

Where we tutor

What the surrounding areas do to the price

Area affects the in-home figure and nothing else. Each entry names what it does to a quote an Al Raha Beach family receives.

Al Raha Beach

Waterfront apartment districts on the Abu Dhabi to Dubai road, close to several large campuses. Convenient for school and thin for resident subject specialists, so an in-home quote here usually originates inland and carries its journey in the rate.

Al Raha Gardens

Villa community immediately inland, sharing campuses with Al Raha Beach. The shortest in-home journey available to this community, and therefore the lowest travel component in a quote.

Khalifa City

The deepest resident teaching population in the emirate and a short mainland drive. Most mid-band in-home quotes an Al Raha Beach family receives originate here, which is why the band's lower half is realistic in this corridor.

Al Reef

Near the airport and popular with staff at the corridor's schools. Short journey, modest travel component, and a plausible source of competitive in-home quotes if a family wants that option.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Further inland with a large resident teaching population and a longer afternoon drive. Quotes from here sit higher in the band for travel reasons rather than for any difference in teaching.

Yas Island

East along the coast with its own provision and a small resident teaching population. Not a realistic source of in-home supply for this community, and an unnecessary journey in either direction.

Al Reem Island and Saadiyat Island

Towards the city, reached with a longer run. Named here because island destinations carry the largest travel components in this market, which is the mirror image of this community's position.

Al Bateen and the Corniche

Central districts holding most of the emirate's tuition centres. Group classes there are genuinely cheaper per hour and cost an Al Raha Beach household a second journey into the city in the evening.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Raha Beach

The Al Raha corridor

Students we support here are entered across both boards, and the cost question usually turns on how many subjects are involved rather than which. A household supporting three subjects weekly for two years is making a decision an order of magnitude larger than one buying a single repair block.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Use the free tier first

Ask the school what departmental support exists and whether the class teacher can see your child about one specific thing. Point your child at the syllabus and one mark scheme for their own specification. Both cost nothing and both solve problems a paid hour would solve more expensively.

  2. 02

Buy a diagnosis before buying hours

One session, one marked paper, one written list of named topics plus an hour estimate. It is the cheapest useful purchase in this market, and some families take the list to their school and spend nothing more. We would rather that than sell a block nobody needed.

  3. 03

Get board, code and tier in writing

From the school, before paying anyone. The most expensive event in this market is a competent tutor aimed at the wrong specification for two terms, and these three facts remove that risk entirely for the price of one email.

  4. 04

    Ask the five money questions

Per hour or per lesson and how long; minimum or package and what happens to unused sessions; the cancellation policy in writing; who bears a session lost to a late finish; and whether the quoted figure includes VAT. Ask all five before the first paid session.

  5. 05

    Take the free trial lesson

A full one-to-one session over live video at no cost and with no card details taken. It answers the what-if-we-stop-after-one-lesson question before it arises, and it tests whether the tutor works from the marked paper you sent or from a script.

  6. 06

Agree the stopping point at the start

A block ends with a timed set, a paper block ends at the series, and an empty topic list ends an arrangement. Writing the end down at the beginning is the single most effective cost control available in this market.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The free options named before ours

School provision and the boards' own published materials come first on this page because they cost nothing and, for absence and single misunderstandings, they are better informed than any external tutor. We lose work by saying so and the page is worth more for it.

Every figure attributed

Each AED band names the competitor page or rate survey that published it. Three of the six competing pages we examined publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, which makes comparison impossible for a UAE family.

No travel component, because no travel

Lessons for Abu Dhabi families are delivered one-to-one over live video and IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE. That removes the gap between the published AED 150-300 online band and the AED 180-500 in-home band, which pays for a journey rather than teaching.

Blocks priced with an end point

A diagnostic is one session, a repair block is three to six, a paper block ends at the series. Agreeing the end at the start is what distinguishes a purchase from a subscription, and the open-ended weekly arrangement is the main overspend in this market.

We say which subjects do not need us

Biology recall, qualitative analysis tests, Computer Science trace tables and Geography case studies are peer-group and self-study work. Paying a specialist rate to hear definitions repeated is a substantial and avoidable cost, and we would rather name it.

A free trial that is actually free

A full one-to-one session over live video at no cost, with no card details taken, and the conditions stated here rather than somewhere you have to find them. That answers the question about stopping after one lesson before anybody has paid anything.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Raha Beach: your questions answered

What does an IGCSE home tutor in Al Raha Beach cost per hour?+

Published market bands put in-home one-to-one at AED 180-500 an hour with travel included, against AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. Bestimate's 2026 table quotes AED 180-350 for in-home and independent tutors quote AED 200-500; Unitors lists International GCSE from AED 150. Entry-level online runs AED 45-150, with EdFlik from AED 45-65 and Tutopiya from AED 33-52. Those are market figures from the sources named, not our prices.

What does a tutoring arrangement actually cost over two years?+

Far more than the hourly rate suggests, because the total is rate times hours plus extras plus the cost of a poor match. A continuous weekly session from the start of Year 10 in one subject is roughly seventy paid hours. Targeted blocks covering a diagnostic, a Year 10 fluency block and a post-mock paper block come to twenty-five or thirty. The second pattern costs under half as much and in most cases achieves more, because every hour is aimed at something named.

What are the hidden extras in an Abu Dhabi tutoring quote?+

Five things. Whether the rate is per hour or per lesson and how long a lesson is. Whether there is a minimum commitment or a package, and what happens to unused sessions, since monthly packages in this market include around AED 799 for eight online sessions. The cancellation and rescheduling policy. Who bears a session lost to a late school finish or traffic. And whether the quoted figure includes VAT, which you should get answered in writing.

How much of an in-home rate is actually the journey?+

Taking the published bands at face value, somewhere between AED 30 and AED 200 an hour: in-home runs AED 180-500 while a qualified tutor working online runs AED 150-300. That component covers the outbound and return journey, waiting time when a school run overruns, and the second booking the tutor could not take that evening. It is a legitimate charge for a tutor's afternoon. It simply buys no additional teaching.

What is the most expensive mistake a family can make here?+

Hiring a competent tutor aimed at the wrong specification. A Cambridge 0580 specialist teaching a Pearson 4MB1 candidate will teach well and slightly wrong, and the fee for two terms is the smaller loss. The larger loss is twenty-odd hours of the student's own practice aimed at a different examination, plus two terms in which the real gaps compounded undiagnosed. Getting board, code and tier in writing from the school prevents it for the price of one email.

Which subjects are worth paying a tutor for, and which are not?+

Mathematics is the strongest case, because the failures are procedures breaking mid-method and somebody has to watch a student work to find them. Additional Mathematics 0606 justifies continuous support because there is no Year 10 runway. The sciences should be split: moles, energetics and electricity justify paid hours, while qualitative tests and the large recall volume in Biology do not. Essay subjects need individual feedback, which the class teacher gives free as part of marking.

Does IB Gram publish a price list for Al Raha Beach?+

Not on this page. Every AED figure here is a published market rate attributed to the provider or survey that produced it, included so you can judge any quote you receive, including ours. Our own arrangement starts with a free trial lesson and a conversation about the board, the code, the tier, how many subjects are involved and how many weeks remain before the series. Those variables change the answer enough that a single headline number would mislead.

For an Al Raha Beach family, is a monthly package better value than paying per session?+

Only if you use all of it. Packages seen in this market include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Divided out, those are reasonable rates; left partly unused, they are not. The questions to ask are how many sessions the package contains, what happens to sessions you do not take, and what notice is required to stop. A monthly fee with no stated session count is a warning sign.

Does IB Gram send tutors to Al Raha Beach homes?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Abu Dhabi families are taught one-to-one over live video, scheduled to Gulf Standard Time. On a cost page the effect is direct: no part of the rate pays for a journey, and a session disrupted by a late school finish moves to later the same evening instead of being charged late or lost.

Is the free trial lesson genuinely free?+

Yes, and the conditions belong on the same page as the offer rather than somewhere you have to look for them. It is a full one-to-one session over live video, at no cost, with no card details taken. Its honest purpose is to act as a diagnostic you did not pay for: watch whether your child admits confusion to this person, whether the tutor read the marked paper you sent, and whether they named specific topics rather than describing the problem back to you.

Does the price quoted for an Al Raha Beach tutor include VAT?+

Ask any provider and get the answer in writing. We do not state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees as a fact on this page, because doing so responsibly requires a Federal Tax Authority source and we have not published one. What a parent can reasonably require is a plain statement about whether the figure quoted is the figure payable. A provider who is evasive about that, or who adds it later, has told you something useful about how they operate.

When should a family stop paying for tutoring?+

At one of three points. When a bounded block's closing timed set is passed, which means the problem it was bought to fix is fixed. When the ranked topic list is empty and timed scores have plateaued near the top of what the papers offer. Or at the series, because nothing helps after the final paper. If nothing has moved in six weeks, the plan should change rather than continue. An arrangement that outlives its purpose is the commonest overspend in this market.

What is the cheapest useful thing an Al Raha Beach family can buy first?+

A single diagnostic session built around one marked paper, with a written output: named topics rather than general weaknesses, plus an honest estimate of the hours a repair needs. Some families take that list to their school and use the departmental provision already inside their fees, spending nothing further. That is a legitimate outcome and a far better first purchase than a term of weekly sessions bought on a guess about what the problem is.

Do rates in Abu Dhabi rise closer to the exams?+

The published bands themselves are annual rather than seasonal, but two things change in practice. Availability tightens as the series approaches, which means the slot you want may only be available from a higher-rate tutor. And the band a family needs shifts: Bestimate's monthly estimates put specialist exam-year support at AED 1,000-2,000 or more against AED 600-1,200 in the middle. Booking a run-in during the autumn term rather than after the mocks avoids both effects.

How do the school fees around Al Raha Beach compare with what tutoring costs?+

Against a private school fee, one mid-band weekly session is a visible addition rather than a transformative one; three subjects at the specialist band across a full year is a different proposition entirely. Dubai's regulator confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in that emirate for 2026-27, under a package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. Abu Dhabi fee rules sit with ADEK, so confirm your own school's position with the school.

Spend nothing, then spend precisely

Ask the school what it already provides, read one mark scheme for your child's own specification, and buy a single diagnostic session before anything else. If a specific problem survives all three, buy a bounded block with a stated end point and a closing timed set. That sequence costs a fraction of a two-year weekly arrangement and usually achieves more. IB Gram teaches Abu Dhabi students one-to-one over live video, publishes market rates with their sources rather than a price list, and starts with a free trial lesson and no card details taken.
