IB & IGCSE in Hydra Village

What the search results are actually sorted by

A proximity search ranks by two things: how close somebody is, and what their reviews look like. Both are measurable, which is why they are used, and neither is correlated with the thing that decides whether tuition works. Nobody in the list is ranked by whether they have taught Cambridge 0580 Extended, supervised a Diploma exploration, or marked a script against a published mark scheme. Those facts exist and are easy to establish, and no search interface asks for them.

Hydra Village makes this unusually visible. It is a small gated villa community on the mainland side of Abu Dhabi, out towards Al Shamkha and Al Reef, with no school inside it and no tuition provision. A proximity search from here returns either very little or a list of people a long way away, which is at least honest. Families in the island communities get a longer list and the same underlying problem, dressed up as choice.

Reviews are the second signal and they deserve a specific warning, because this market is full of unverifiable ones. Several providers in the UAE publish star ratings and review counts that do not match each other on the same page, and at least one shows a figure in its structured data that differs from the number a visitor sees. A rating that cannot be traced to real, countable, attributable reviews is a marketing device rather than evidence, which is why IB Gram publishes none at all.

Delivery here, stated plainly: IB Gram does not offer home visits in Hydra Village or anywhere in the UAE, because home visiting is a service we run only in India. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. From a community like this one that is less a preference than arithmetic: the set of people who can teach a given Diploma course at Higher Level, intersected with the set willing to drive out here in the late afternoon, is frequently empty.

Because families in Hydra Village are often comparing schools as well as tutors — the community sits between several clusters and a school choice here determines an hour of every day — a substantial part of this page is about reading a school rather than reading a tutor. What an inspection band means. What it cannot tell you. The questions to put to an admissions office that a published rating will never answer. And what happens when a child transfers school or country mid-course, which is a common pattern in the Emirates and is handled badly almost everywhere.

Everything factual here is attributable or marked as something to confirm, and the figures quoted belong to published sources with their dates. No examination or results date for the IB appears, because the organisation's own site is the only place to confirm one, and no grade boundary appears, because boundaries are set after each session and published afterwards.

At a glance

  • Proximity and reviews are measurable and uncorrelated with teaching the right course
  • A rating that cannot be traced to countable, attributable reviews is a marketing device
  • Inspection bands describe whole-school performance, not a single subject set
  • ADEK licenses and inspects Abu Dhabi private schools; four other bodies cover the rest of the Emirates
  • Lessons are one-to-one over live video, not a tutor driving out to Hydra Village
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

A Hydra Village household comparing schools is usually comparing programmes as much as institutions. These are the routes in play, with what the choice commits a family to.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson IGCSE

Terminal written papers, tiered by board, with coursework minimal or absent in most subjects. Eight or nine subjects, each largely self-contained, and a single examination series at the end of two years. Grading differs by board, letters for Cambridge and numbers for Pearson.

Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track requires five accredited subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus one Advanced Level subject at grade E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. Verify the current rules through the official channel.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects with three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS, graded one to seven per subject against a forty-five point total. Internally assessed work in every subject, with published criteria and word limits, running alongside the taught courses.

No points threshold for Diploma equivalency should be quoted to you without a reference on the ministry's own site. The session UAE schools sit is the May one; the exact windows and all internal deadlines come from the school's Diploma coordinator rather than from any website.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

Criterion-referenced assessment across eight subject groups, graded one to eight against four criteria per subject rather than by percentage. A continuum route into the Diploma that produces students fluent in reflection and often lighter on timed written technique.

The choice between an MYP route and an IGCSE route in Years 10 and 11 has consequences for equivalency documentation and for university applications outside the IB system. It is worth asking each school directly what qualifications a student leaves Year 11 holding.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the courses where availability, rather than teaching quality, decides what a Hydra Village household can actually buy. We state the position rather than concealing it.

Mathematics, IGCSE and Diploma

All tiers and levels

The strongest coverage across both systems, with specialists available at every tier and level. Match times are short in term time and lengthen in the weeks before a series as the specialist pool fills.

Chemistry

IGCSE, SL and HL

Good coverage at Higher Level and Extended tier. Higher Level availability concentrates in the same late-afternoon window every family wants, which is the real constraint rather than the number of specialists.

Physics

IGCSE, SL and HL

Good coverage, with the caveat that a physics difficulty is frequently a mathematics difficulty. A specialist who checks that first saves a term, and we would rather match on that diagnosis than on the subject label.

Biology

IGCSE, SL and HL

Good coverage. The constraint here is method rather than supply: the subject responds to written answers marked against criteria, so a tutor who only explains is poor value however available they are.

Economics and Business Management

IGCSE, SL and HL

Variable by level and board. Higher Level Economics in particular runs thin in the preferred evening window, and we disclose a wait rather than substituting a general business teacher.

English, First Language and Language A

0500, SL and HL

Good coverage, with the specific caution that First Language English and English as a Second Language are different qualifications and a student placed in the wrong one loses marks for unrelated reasons.

Combined and co-ordinated science routes

Double award

Thinner and board-specific. A double-award candidate tutored as though sitting the separate sciences loses real time, so the code has to be confirmed before a match is made.

Computer Science and ICT

IGCSE

Two distinct qualifications frequently confused, and both with thinner specialist availability than the sciences. We say so rather than offering a general technology teacher for an algorithms paper.

Theory of Knowledge

Diploma core

Available and almost never requested, which is the wrong way round given twenty marks across the essay and the exhibition and the strict word limits attached to both.

Less commonly taught languages

SL and HL

Limited and handled case by case. Where no specialist in a given language and level is available we state that plainly rather than matching a fluent speaker who has not taught the course.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements, all over live video. What differs between them is who the session serves: one child, two children in one household, or a specific neglected component.

One child, one subject, properly funded

A weekly session matched to the exact specification or course and level, with written work marked against the published scheme between lessons and a review date with a measure attached. The arrangement that most reliably changes a grade, and the cheapest of the three.

  • A written diagnosis in the first week naming the faults found
  • Marked work rather than ticked work
  • A review against marked evidence rather than impressions

Two children, consecutive slots

Where one child is on IGCSE and another in the Diploma, two specialists in consecutive slots on the same evening. One household calendar, one point of contact, and no compromise on either child's match, which is the practical benefit of video delivery in a community with no local provision.

  • Separate specialists per course rather than one tutor stretched across both
  • Consecutive timing where the household prefers it
  • A shared review date so both plans are judged together

Transfer catch-up block

A bounded block for a student who has changed school or country mid-course, aimed at the specific content and assessment differences the move created. These are finite, identifiable problems and they are best addressed in the first weeks rather than discovered in a mock.

  • A comparison of what was covered against what the new school assumes
  • Assessment-shape differences named, including board and paper changes
  • A defined number of sessions with an end point

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Hydra Village

01

The ranking signals, and a better question for each

A search result is a set of signals, and it is worth knowing which ones are doing the sorting. Distance, review score, review count, response speed and sometimes price. Each is cheap to compute and each is silent about the one thing that determines whether tuition works, which is whether this person has taught and marked your child's specification.

Distance is the clearest example. From Hydra Village it filters out almost everybody who can teach a Higher Level Diploma course, because the intersection of 'can teach Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level' and 'will drive out past Al Shamkha at five in the afternoon' is nearly empty. The filter is doing real work; it is simply removing the wrong people. A family that relaxes it and solves the time of day instead has a far larger choice set.

Review scores deserve more scepticism than they get in this market. Providers in the UAE publish ratings and review counts that contradict each other on the same page, and at least one publishes a figure in its structured data that differs from the one a visitor can see. Google's own structured-data policy takes a dim view of self-serving review markup. A rating that cannot be traced to real, countable, attributable reviews is a device, which is why we publish none and would rather be judged on a free trial lesson.

The table gives each signal with what it genuinely tells you, what it cannot, and the question to ask instead. None of the better questions requires any subject knowledge, and all of them can be asked in a single message before any money changes hands.

What an inspection band actually means

Families in the Emirates use school inspection outcomes as the primary school-choice signal, and ADEK supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in Abu Dhabi and publishes inspection results. Using them is sensible. Reading them as a proxy for the quality of a specific subject set is not, and that gap causes a great many misplaced decisions.

The band names used in UAE school inspection frameworks run from the highest rating down through a middle set of judgements to the lowest, and the current wording and criteria should be read from the regulator's own published framework rather than from any summary, including this one. What they describe is whole-school performance against a documented framework across several domains: student outcomes, teaching, curriculum, protection and leadership. They are compiled on a cycle and they describe the school as it was inspected.

What follows is that a band is an average over a large institution at a particular moment. A school rated at the top of the scale can have a Higher Level Chemistry set taught by a non-specialist this year, because a department carries a vacancy. A school in the middle of the scale can have an outstanding mathematics department. Neither fact is visible in the band, and both are decisive for one child in one subject.

The table sets out what each level of judgement broadly implies, what it cannot tell you, and the question that gets at the thing you actually need. Note the pattern in the third column: it is identical in every row, because the limitation is structural rather than band-specific. An inspection outcome is about the school; a tuition decision is about one child in one subject.

READING AN INSPECTION OUTCOME, AND WHAT TO ASK THE SCHOOL
Level of judgementBroadly what it impliesWhat it cannot tell youThe question to ask the school
Highest bandStrong performance across the framework's domains at inspectionWho teaches your child's set this yearIs this course taught by a subject specialist in the current year?

03

Comparing two schools for one child

From Hydra Village a school choice is also a choice about an hour of every day, which raises the stakes. Families here routinely weigh a nearer mainland school against a longer journey to the island, and the published information will not settle it. A short list of specific questions will get much closer.

Ask about the subject, not the school. How many students sat this course last year, at what levels, and what was the spread of outcomes. Is it taught by a subject specialist this year, and has that person changed recently. For the Diploma, which Higher Level combinations actually run, because a combination offered in a brochure may not run if too few students choose it, and discovering that in September is a serious problem.

Then ask about the things that only matter to a commuting family. What time does the day end, and what time does the bus reach this community. Are there compulsory after-school commitments, and when. How much homework is set in Year 10 or DP1 on an average evening. For Diploma students, when are the internal deadlines for the exploration and the Extended Essay, and are they published at the start of the year. Those answers determine whether your child has a usable evening, which determines whether any tuition plan can work.

For context on scale, the published figures are worth knowing. Dubai's private school sector in 2024-25 contained 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering seventeen different curricula, with UK curriculum at 37 per cent of students, Indian at 26, US at 14 and the International Baccalaureate at 7, according to the government media office. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, with six schools having opened during 2025-26 and enrolment up 6 per cent. Those are Dubai rather than Abu Dhabi figures, and they indicate the pace of change in the sector a family is choosing within.

04

Hydra Village, Al Reef and Al Ghadeer: three communities, one tutor pool

This page is written from a comparison angle, so it is worth testing the comparison properly. Three small mainland communities, each with different neighbours and journeys, and the question is whether any of the differences changes what a family should buy.

Hydra Village is a gated villa community with no school and no tuition provision inside it. Al Reef is nearer the Khalifa City cluster and has more within a short drive. Al Ghadeer sits on the emirate boundary, and some of its households use Dubai-side schools, which means a different regulator, potentially different term dates and a wider nominal choice of everything. Three genuinely different positions.

What is identical is the tutor pool for the thing that matters. A specialist in Higher Level Diploma Chemistry is scarce across the whole emirate, and no address among these three improves access to one in person. Published in-home visiting rates run from AED 180 to 350 an hour in survey data and from AED 200 to 500 among independent home tutors, read in October 2026, with the longest journeys at the upper end — so the nominal choice in Al Ghadeer comes with the same loading as the nominal scarcity in Hydra Village.

The conclusion is the same from all three. Stop using distance as the first filter, because it removes the specialists rather than the weak candidates. Filter instead by course, level and whether written work gets marked against a published scheme, and then solve the time of day, which is a solvable problem in every one of these communities. The table sets the three out side by side.

THREE MAINLAND COMMUNITIES COMPARED
CommunityWhat genuinely differsWhat is identicalSensible conclusion
Hydra VillageNo school or tuition inside the communitySpecialist scarcity by course and level across the emirateMatch by course over video; set the slot from real arrival times
Al ReefNearer the Khalifa City clusterSame scarcity; same published in-home loadingIdentical answer, reached with slightly less friction
Al GhadeerBoundary position; some Dubai-side schoolingSame scarcity; a second regulator to understandConfirm which emirate's rules and calendar apply to your school
Al ShamkhaLarger, with some local provisionSame scarcity; longer afternoon returnProtect a five o'clock slot and match on level
Khalifa CityInside the school clusterSame scarcity of Higher Level specialistsProximity shortens the journey, not the specialist list
Al Raha GardensA school on the doorstepSame scarcity; same exploration deadlinesConvenience in the morning, identical tuition decision
05

The two-board household's week

A household with one child on IGCSE and another in the Diploma has a timetabling problem rather than a curriculum problem, and in a community like Hydra Village the timetable is the binding constraint on everything. Two children, two different finish times, one adult doing the collecting, and a long journey at both ends.

The practical solution is usually consecutive slots on the same evening, with a different specialist for each child. That keeps the household to one disrupted evening rather than two, keeps both matches specific, and means written work for both children lands on the same rhythm. It is a mundane arrangement and it is the single most common thing families here ask for once they realise it is possible.

What does not work is the instinct to find one tutor for both children. The temptation is obvious — one point of contact, one invoice, one evening — and the result is a tutor stretched across two assessment systems with different command vocabulary, different internal assessment rules and different examination calendars. One of the two children is always underserved, and it is usually the Diploma student, because their needs are less visible week to week.

The other reliable error is funding both children thinly in the same term. Tuition works through the marked written practice between lessons, and two children in one household with a long commute have a limited combined supply of usable evenings. Funding the child in an examination year properly, and leaving the other to the school and their own retrieval practice for a term, produces more than splitting the budget. That is unwelcome advice and it is what the evidence in this market supports.

06

Transfers: changing school or country mid-course

Mid-course transfers are common in the Emirates and handled poorly almost everywhere, which makes them one of the clearest cases where a short, bounded piece of tuition is genuinely the right purchase. The problems a transfer creates are specific and finite, which is what makes them addressable.

The first is content sequence. Schools teach the same syllabus in different orders, so a student arriving in January may have covered topics the new class did months ago and missed topics it has already finished. Nobody usually audits this, and the student discovers it in an assessment. A comparison of the two schemes of work takes an hour and identifies exactly what is missing, which turns a vague sense of being behind into a list.

The second is a board change, which happens more often than families expect. A student can move from Cambridge to Pearson, or between Cambridge specifications, without anyone flagging it as significant. The content is broadly the same; the paper structures, calculator rules, formula provision, tiering vocabulary and grading scale are not. A student revising for the wrong assessment shape is doing real work in the wrong direction.

The third applies to Diploma transfers and is the most serious. Internally assessed work, supervisor relationships and the school's own deadline chain do not transfer cleanly, and a student moving in DP2 loses time at the worst possible point. The honest advice for a family considering a mid-Diploma move is that it is expensive in a way fees do not capture, and that where a move has already happened, the first fortnight should be spent auditing exactly where the student stands on every internal assessment rather than catching up on content.

07

What we can and cannot see about your child's school

It is worth being explicit about the limits of what a tutoring platform knows, because providers in this market routinely imply more. We can read the same published inspection outcomes a parent can read. We can see patterns across the marked scripts families send us, which is genuinely informative about where a syllabus tends to go wrong. We cannot see inside a school.

Specifically, we do not know who teaches a particular set this year, whether a department is carrying a vacancy, what a school's internal assessment data shows, or how a particular teacher marks. Any provider claiming familiarity with your child's school's internal standards is either guessing or describing a relationship they should not have. The people who hold that information are the head of department and the subject teacher, and they will usually share it if asked a specific question.

Nor do we have any relationship with schools. Students we support attend a wide range of schools in Abu Dhabi, and the school names on this page are listed as context for parents comparing provision. IB Gram claims no affiliation, partnership, endorsement or client relationship with any named school or group, and several competitors in this market list twenty or more schools as trusted partners with no relationship whatsoever behind the claim.

What we can do is specific and bounded. Read a marked script against the published mark scheme and name the faults. Match a specialist to a named specification, course and level. Mark written work and maintain an error log so that progress is visible to a parent with no subject knowledge. State honestly what the remaining time can and cannot achieve. And tell you when the better next step is a conversation with the school rather than a purchase from us.

08

The permit, our status and the claims we will not make

A 'near me' search in Hydra Village surfaces a person long before it surfaces a permit, so start with the permit. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation states a two working day completion time for a private tutor work permit and lists no fee whatsoever, with the application running through the ministry's smart app, its website or its e-services system. A tutor who tells a family here that the paperwork is slow, costly or not worth the trouble is contradicting the service page they would be applying on. The permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years, which means anyone who has taught across both an IB Diploma and an IGCSE cycle in this community has already renewed at least once. Eligibility is drawn widely: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen.

Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no schedule of amounts has been published — press reporting states that the ministry did not specify the fine amounts or detail the penalties — so a figure quoted to you as the penalty is invention. In Abu Dhabi, press reporting on ADEK's professional-ethics rules indicates that private and charter school staff may not provide paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and that the permit's code of conduct bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Verify the current ADEK document before relying on the wording.

The regulator map is worth knowing because families move. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain sit with ADEK; Dubai with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority; Sharjah with the Sharjah Private Education Authority; Ras Al Khaimah with its Department of Knowledge; and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah with the federal Ministry of Education. Sharjah's and Ras Al Khaimah's authorities also approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, so their remit extends well beyond inspection.

On status and claims: IB Gram is an independent online matching platform with no office, centre or branch in the UAE, holding no accreditation, licence, approval or partnership from any of those bodies or from the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. We publish no star rating, review count or satisfaction statistic. We decline to produce assessed work of any kind, to supply answers for live assessed tasks, or to reproduce board material. Our tutors are not described as current examiners for any board, and no tutor can promise a grade, a points total or a university outcome.

Al Ghadeer

On the emirate boundary, where some households use Dubai-side schools and therefore a different regulator, a different calendar and sometimes different term dates.

Al Shamkha

Settled villa housing immediately inland, around half an hour from the island on a clear run and considerably longer in the afternoon.

Khalifa City

The main mainland school cluster and the destination for most Hydra Village students, where the inspection reports worth reading actually apply.

Al Raha Gardens

Villa community with an IB continuum school nearby, which is the closest thing in the corridor to a walkable school run.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Replace the distance filter

Ask two questions instead: which specification, course and level has this tutor taught and marked, and who marks written work between sessions and against what. Both are factual, both take a message, and neither appears in any search ranking.

  2. 02

Read the inspection outcome, then go past it

ADEK publishes inspection results for Abu Dhabi private schools and they are worth reading. Then ask the school the subject-level questions a band cannot answer, starting with whether the course is taught by a specialist this year.

  3. 03

Audit a transfer in the first fortnight

If your child has changed school or country mid-course, compare the two schemes of work and check whether the board or specification changed. Those are finite, identifiable problems and far cheaper to fix now than after a mock.

  4. 04

Free trial lesson, with the marked evidence first

One live video lesson per child with a matched specialist who has read the script. You decide afterwards, no card is required, and nothing starts automatically if you choose not to continue.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

We publish no rating, deliberately

Providers in this market show ratings that contradict each other on the same page and figures in markup that differ from what a visitor sees. A rating that cannot be traced to countable, attributable reviews is a device, so we offer a free trial lesson instead.

Distance is not used as a filter

From Hydra Village, filtering by driving distance removes nearly everybody who can teach a Higher Level Diploma course. We match on course, level and marking practice, then solve the time of day, which is the solvable part.

Inspection bands explained with their limits

A band is an average over a large institution at a moment in time. It cannot tell you who teaches your child's set this year, which is the fact that actually matters, and we point you at the school for it.

Coverage limits disclosed

Where a subject, level or time slot is thin, we say so and name the alternatives rather than substituting a generalist. No competitor in this market publishes a coverage limit, which does not mean none of them has one.

Transfers treated as a specific, finite problem

A content-sequence audit, a check on whether the board changed, and for Diploma transfers an immediate audit of internal assessment standing. Bounded work with an end point rather than an open-ended arrangement.

Honest about what we cannot see

We do not know who teaches a particular set, whether a department has a vacancy, or what a school's internal data shows. Any provider implying otherwise is guessing, and we would rather send you to the head of department.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Hydra Village: your questions answered

Is there an IB or IGCSE tutor based in Hydra Village?+

Almost certainly not, and that is worth knowing rather than working around. Hydra Village is a small gated community with no school and no tuition provision inside it, so a proximity search returns either very little or people a long way away. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time and does not offer home visits in Hydra Village or anywhere in the UAE, because home visiting is a service we run only in India.

How much should I trust a tutoring company's star rating?+

Less than the interface implies. Providers in the UAE publish ratings and review counts that contradict each other on the same page, and at least one shows a figure in its structured data that differs from the number a visitor sees. Google's own structured-data policy discourages self-serving review markup. A rating that cannot be traced to real, countable, attributable reviews is a marketing device, which is why IB Gram publishes none at all.

How much should a Hydra Village family read into an inspection band?+

Whole-school performance against a documented framework at the time of inspection, across domains including student outcomes, teaching, curriculum, protection and leadership. ADEK supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in Abu Dhabi and publishes the results, and reading them is sensible. What a band cannot tell you is who teaches your child's set this year, whether a department is carrying a vacancy, or how one subject group has performed over three years.

What should I ask a school that the rating will not tell me?+

Subject-level questions. How many students sat this course last year, at what levels, and with what spread of outcomes. Is it taught by a subject specialist this year, and has that person changed recently. For the Diploma, which Higher Level combinations actually run rather than which are advertised. Then the commuting questions: when the day ends, when the bus reaches your community, and when the internal deadlines for the exploration and Extended Essay fall.

Does living in Al Reef or Al Ghadeer give more tutoring choice?+

More nominal choice and the same real choice. Al Reef is nearer the Khalifa City cluster and Al Ghadeer sits on the boundary with some Dubai-side options, so both have more within a short drive than Hydra Village does. What is identical across all three is that a specialist in a Higher Level Diploma subject is scarce across the whole emirate, and published in-home rates of AED 180 to 500 an hour carry the journey either way.

Can one tutor teach both my IGCSE and Diploma children?+

Usually not well, and we would rather say so. The two systems have different command vocabulary, different internal assessment rules and different examination calendars, and a tutor stretched across both leaves one child underserved — normally the Diploma student, whose needs are less visible week to week. What works instead is two specialists in consecutive slots on the same evening, which keeps the household to one disrupted evening without compromising either match.

Should we fund both children or just one this term?+

Usually one, properly. Tuition works through marked written practice between lessons, and two children in a household with a long commute have a limited combined supply of usable evenings. Funding the child in an examination year at specialist level, and leaving the other to the school and their own retrieval practice for a term, produces more than splitting the budget. It is unwelcome advice and it is what the pattern in this market supports.

What goes wrong when a child transfers school mid-course?+

Three specific things. Content sequence, because schools teach the same syllabus in different orders, so topics get duplicated or missed and nobody audits it. A board or specification change that nobody flags, which leaves a student revising for the wrong paper structure, calculator rule or formula provision. And for Diploma students, internally assessed work and supervisor relationships that do not transfer cleanly, which is why a DP2 move is expensive in a way fees do not capture.

How quickly can a specialist be matched from Hydra Village?+

For mathematics at any tier or level, usually within a few days in term time. For Higher Level sciences and Economics it is longer, and the binding constraint is the late-afternoon window every household wants rather than the number of specialists. Where a subject or slot is thin we say so and offer the alternatives — a different weekday, a weekend session, or a short wait for a named tutor — rather than substituting a generalist who is free.

Do you know how my child's school marks internally?+

No, and nor does any other platform that tells you it does. We can read the same published inspection outcomes you can, and we see patterns across the marked scripts families send us, which is genuinely informative about where a syllabus goes wrong. We cannot see inside a school: who teaches a set, whether a department has a vacancy, or what internal data shows. The head of department holds that and will usually answer a specific question.

Which regulator applies if we move within the UAE?+

Five bodies cover private schools. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain sit with ADEK, Dubai with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Sharjah with the Sharjah Private Education Authority, Ras Al Khaimah with its Department of Knowledge, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah with the federal Ministry of Education. Sharjah's and Ras Al Khaimah's authorities also approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, so their remit goes well beyond inspection.

How large and how fast-changing is the private school sector here?+

Large and changing quickly, which is worth factoring into a school choice. Dubai's sector in 2024-25 held 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering seventeen curricula, with UK curriculum at 37 per cent of students, Indian at 26, US at 14 and the International Baccalaureate at 7, per the government media office. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven schools and 16,846 places. Those are Dubai figures, and they indicate the pace of change across the sector.

Is IB Gram partnered with any Abu Dhabi schools?+

No. We have no affiliation, partnership, endorsement or client relationship with any school or school group, and the school names on this page are listed only as context for parents comparing provision. Students we support attend a wide range of schools in the emirate. Several competitors in this market list twenty or more schools as trusted partners with no relationship behind the claim, and at least one has listed a school that appears not to exist.

What will you tell me if the tuition is not working?+

Which part of the plan was wrong, and what we propose instead. A review date and a measure are set at the start, and the measure is marked evidence rather than how the lessons felt. The three honest outcomes are that the arrangement is working and can taper, that the diagnosis was right but the cadence is too thin for the gap, or that the diagnosis was wrong and needs redoing. Sometimes the answer is that the next step is not a purchase.

Drop the distance filter and ask two factual questions

Which specification, course and level has this tutor actually taught and marked, and who marks written work between sessions and against what. Both are facts, both take one message, and neither appears anywhere in a search ranking. Then read your school's published inspection outcome and go past it, asking whether the course is taught by a specialist this year. Lessons here run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, we publish no rating and offer a free trial lesson instead, and we do not offer home visits in the UAE because that service runs only in India.
