IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Al Khan

Searching for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Khan is a price question as much as a location one, and the two pull against each other. The nearer and narrower the search, the scarcer the specialist and the higher the rate. IB Gram matches Sharjah families with IB and IGCSE specialists teaching one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time, and this page discloses availability and fallbacks instead of concealing them.

IB & IGCSE in Al Khan

Scarcity, not distance, sets the price

Al Khan occupies the lagoon strip between Al Majaz and Al Taawun, with schools in two emirates within reach and the Dubai boundary a short drive west. Families searching from here for a tutor near me are usually trying to solve two problems at once: find somebody reachable, and find somebody affordable. The uncomfortable fact is that in this market those two goals work against each other, and the mechanism is scarcity rather than geography.

Here is how it works. Common requests are cheap because supply is deep: IGCSE mathematics at either tier, Standard Level biology, English Language technique. Rare requests are expensive because supply is thin: Diploma Higher Level Mathematics Paper 3, Higher Level Chemistry and Physics, minority languages, and anything at a specific hour on a specific day. Narrowing a search by distance as well as by subject multiplies the scarcity, and the price and the waiting time both rise.

The published market gives the bands. Entry-level online sessions are advertised from roughly AED 33 to 65 an hour. Qualified online subject tutors publish from about AED 150 to 300, with Unitors listing IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Specialist IB and IGCSE tutors are quoted from AED 200 to AED 450 and above, with TutorChase at around AED 270 and premium named provision advertised as high as AED 650. In-home visits including travel run from roughly AED 180 to AED 500, with Bestimate's 2026 rate table placing the usual band at AED 180 to 350.

IB Gram teaches UAE families one-to-one over live video and makes no home visits anywhere in the country; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. That removes one source of scarcity entirely — the pool of people prepared to cross into Sharjah at five in the afternoon — and replaces it with the much larger pool of people who teach the relevant course at that hour, wherever they are.

Which brings this page to its real subject: disclosure. The thing a family cannot see when buying tutoring is whether a match actually exists. A provider under pressure to fill a booking can place the nearest available person into a scarce subject, and the family discovers the mismatch in week three. The fee is recoverable and the term is not, which makes concealment the most expensive practice in this market.

So what follows is an availability table rather than a sales argument, a straight account of what the scarcity premium buys, the real cost of a mismatched placement, and the one lever a family controls that genuinely lowers both the rate and the wait. None of that is flattering to this industry, and all of it is checkable in a few minutes by any parent who knows what to look at.

At a glance

  • Common subjects are cheap because supply is deep
  • Scarce Higher Level subjects are expensive because supply is thin
  • Filtering by distance as well as subject multiplies the scarcity
  • A mismatched placement costs a term, which no refund returns
  • Teaching is online one-to-one; no home visits anywhere in the UAE
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Scarcity differs sharply by programme and level, which is the main reason two families in the same building get quoted different numbers.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE, Years 10 and 11

The best-supplied part of this market. Mathematics and the three sciences at either tier have deep pools, so rates sit at the lower end of each band and match times are short. The exceptions are the practical-skills paper, Computer Science and minority languages, where supply thins considerably.

Candidates in this country sit the June series with November as the resit route. Where a family here has children at schools in two emirates, the boards can differ, and a tutor matched to the wrong specification is a cost rather than a saving.

DP SLAges 16-18 · DP1 and DP2

Diploma Standard Level

Reasonably supplied in the mainstream subjects, and the level at which a qualified tutor rather than a component specialist is often sufficient. Match times are usually short outside the contested late-afternoon window.

Diploma cohorts near this district are smaller than British-curriculum cohorts, so local in-home supply at any Diploma level is thin. Online delivery is what makes the Standard Level pool look ordinary rather than scarce.

DP HLAges 16-18 · DP1 and DP2

Diploma Higher Level

Where the premium is real. Higher Level Chemistry and Physics, and the extended-problem paper in either mathematics route, are thinly staffed across the whole region. A family requesting one of these at a fixed hour is asking for an intersection that may contain very few people.

This is the level at which disclosure matters most. A mismatched placement in the second Diploma year costs weeks that cannot be recovered at any price, because internal deadlines pass while the family is still discovering the problem.

CoreAcross both Diploma years

Diploma core components

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay are coached rather than taught, and the supply of people who have genuinely marked them is narrower than the supply of subject teachers. Priced in the specialist band and worth it, because up to three points sit there.

Core coaching is also the most flexible on timing, because it does not have to follow a school's teaching order. That flexibility is itself a discount, since it opens up hours the contested late afternoon does not.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Each entry notes how deep the supply actually is, because that is what sets the rate and the wait rather than how difficult the content is.

IGCSE Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 · Pearson 4MA1

Deepest pool in the market at either tier, so the lower end of each band applies and match times are short. The thing worth paying slightly more for is a tutor working to your child's exact code rather than to mathematics in general.

IGCSE Sciences

Chemistry, Physics, Biology

Well supplied at the qualified level. Noticeably thinner for the Cambridge practical-skills paper, where the marked skill is writing a method precise enough for a stranger to repeat, so expect a specialist rate for that specifically.

Diploma Mathematics AA

HL and SL

Standard Level is reasonably supplied. Higher Level, and particularly the extended-problem third paper, is one of the scarcest requests in the region and is priced accordingly. Flexibility on timing does more to improve availability here than anything else.

Diploma Mathematics AI

HL and SL

Thinner than Analysis at both levels, because fewer tutors have taught the modelling and statistics emphasis. A tutor defaulting to Analysis habits in an Applications course is a common and avoidable mismatch.

Diploma Chemistry and Physics

HL and SL

Consistently the hardest Higher Level subjects to staff anywhere in the Gulf. Where a match at your hour does not exist, we will say so rather than placing a generalist, because the alternative costs a term.

Diploma Biology

HL and SL

Better supplied than the other two sciences at the same level, and therefore cheaper. Command-term work produces the fastest improvement, which makes it efficient as well as available.

English across both systems

IGCSE First Language · Diploma English A

Deep supply and a strong transfer effect: planning and argument structure improve several other subjects at once. Usually the easiest match to make and one of the best-value purchases in a large entry.

Business, Economics and Humanities

IGCSE and Diploma

Mid-market rates with reasonable supply. Internally assessed components at Diploma level narrow the pool, because marking a commentary portfolio or historical investigation is a different skill from teaching the subject.

Computer Science and minority languages

IGCSE and Diploma

The thinnest supply in this list. Where availability genuinely does not exist we disclose it at the first conversation, because a near-match in these subjects wastes a term and the fee together.

Arabic and Islamic Education

First and additional language streams

Carried alongside the international curriculum under the federal position, in separate streams for Arab and non-Arab students, and excluded from the five subjects the Ministry counts on the British track.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements, differing in how they handle scarcity. The first two exist because the third is not always possible, and saying so is the point of this page.

Immediate match, common subject

Where the subject and level are well supplied, a match at a sensible hour is usually quick. Rates sit at the lower end of the qualified or specialist band, and the only real decision is which tier of tutor the marked work justifies.

  • Short match time in the well-supplied subjects
  • Lower end of the published band applies
  • Matched to the exact syllabus code or Diploma course
  • Free trial before any block is agreed

Dated wait for a scarce specialist

Where the combination is genuinely thin, the honest option is a wait with an actual date attached rather than a placement with somebody who does not teach the component. Families who take this route almost never regret it; families who accept a near-match frequently do.

  • A date, not a vague promise of availability
  • Interim free school support suggested meanwhile
  • No placement into a course the tutor does not teach
  • Reviewed if the date slips, with the reason given

Flexible-hour match at a wider pool

Moving the request out of the contested four-to-six window opens a much larger pool, frequently at the lower end of the specialist band. For a scarce Higher Level subject this is often the difference between a match existing and not existing.

  • Weekend mornings and later evenings widen the pool
  • Student arrives rested rather than after a long crossing
  • Often improves the rate as well as the availability
  • Works for core coaching, which needs no fixed teaching order

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Khan

01

Why "near me" and "affordable" pull against each other

  • Every filter added narrows the pool: subject, level, component, hour, place
  • Dropping the geographic filter widens the pool without lowering quality
  • In-home rates include a journey nobody is paid for online
  • Component-level scarcity is real and cannot be argued away

An IB IGCSE tutor near me, searched from Al Khan, is a request that contains a hidden constraint. Every filter a family adds narrows the pool: the subject, the level, the component, the hour, and then the geography. A family asking for Higher Level Chemistry at half past four within driving distance of the lagoon has applied five filters at once, and the intersection may be empty or may contain one person who can charge what they like.

IB Gram does not make home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we offer only in India. Teaching here is one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time. For a family whose requirement is a person in the room, in-home provision exists in this market at published rates of roughly AED 180 to AED 500 an hour including travel, and we are not the provider for it.

Dropping the geographic filter changes the arithmetic rather than the quality. The same subject, the same level, the same component, at a wider range of hours, from everybody who teaches it in the region rather than those willing to drive here at the worst time of day. That is why online rates for qualified subject tutors sit around AED 150 to 300 an hour while in-home rates including travel start higher: the pool is larger and nobody is being paid to sit in traffic.

What does not change, and should not be pretended away, is scarcity at the level of the component itself. There is no arrangement under which Higher Level Chemistry specialists become plentiful. What online delivery does is give a family in these towers the same access to that scarce pool as a family anywhere else, which is the most that can honestly be offered.

02

Availability and the fallback, disclosed

No competitor page in this market discloses a coverage limit. Several conceal non-local delivery behind a foreign phone number, and one routes families in this country to an international contact without saying where anybody is. The table below is the opposite practice: an honest statement of where supply is deep, where it is thin, and what happens when a match does not exist at the hour a family wants.

The principle behind it is simple. A family is entitled to know, before a trial lesson rather than after, whether the person teaching their child specialises in the component, roughly how long a match will take, and where that person is based. We state tutor location up front because concealing it is a trust failure, and because a Diploma family in the second year needs to know whether their timetable can actually be served.

The fallback matters as much as the availability. Where no specialist is free at a requested hour, there are three honest options: a different time with the right person, which is usually correct; a wait with a date attached; or a tutor based outside the UAE with their location and working hours disclosed in advance. What is not an option is placing somebody who does not teach the component, however convenient that would be for everybody except the student.

One further note on rates in a fallback. Where a scarce subject is matched outside the usual pool, the rate reflects the specialism rather than the location, and it is quoted before the trial rather than discovered afterwards. A family should never learn a price after a child has started working with somebody.

03

What the scarcity premium actually buys

  • The premium buys criteria and mark-scheme knowledge in a thin pool
  • It does not buy a grade, and price does not predict outcome
  • Unverifiable examiner claims should be treated with scepticism
  • Match the tier of purchase to what the marked work shows

A premium only deserves to be paid if it buys something nameable, so here is what it buys and what it does not. In a scarce Higher Level subject, the specialist rate from AED 200 to AED 450 and above buys somebody who has taught that syllabus and marked that component: who knows the criteria by letter, the mark allocations, the band boundaries and the specific places students lose marks in that paper.

What it does not buy is a different grade by itself. The relationship that holds in this market is between accuracy of diagnosis and outcome, not between price and outcome. A cheap, correctly targeted three sessions beats an expensive term aimed at the wrong thing, which is why every recommendation on this site starts with marked work rather than with a rate card.

The premium also should not be taken as implying access to anything. Premium named provision in this market has been advertised as high as AED 650 an hour, sometimes on the strength of examiner status. Examiner status for an individual is difficult for a parent to verify, and it must never be used to suggest access to marking, grade boundaries or paper content. We do not describe tutors as examiners without current evidence, and a family paying a premium is entitled to ask precisely what distinguishes that hour from one at half the price.

The honest summary is narrow. Pay the specialist rate where the marked work shows a criteria or mark-scheme problem at a level where supply is thin. Pay the qualified rate where the problem is content in a well-supplied subject. Pay the entry-level rate where the problem is organisation. Each of those is a defensible purchase; paying the top rate for the third is not.

04

The cost of a mismatched placement

  • A mismatch costs the fee and the term; the term is the expensive part
  • It is close to irrecoverable in the second Diploma year
  • Ask whether the tutor has marked that specific component
  • Ask what happens if the match turns out to be wrong

This is the figure the market never publishes, and it is the largest cost available in it. A mismatched placement — a subject generalist in a Higher Level component, or a tutor working to the wrong board's specification — costs a family the fee and the term, and the term is the expensive half.

The pattern is recognisable. Weeks one and two feel fine, because any competent teacher can run two pleasant sessions. By week three the student is being taught content rather than having a component diagnosed. By week five a parent senses something is wrong but has no vocabulary for it. By week eight an internal deadline has passed or a mock has been sat, and the weeks are gone. A refund, if one is offered, returns the fee and nothing else.

In the second Diploma year that is close to irrecoverable, because internal deadlines do not reopen. In Year 11 it is survivable but expensive, since the weeks between a mock and study leave are the only ones in which technique work pays. In both cases the damage was done at the placement stage, by a decision made to fill a booking.

The protections are cheap and worth insisting on. Ask whether the tutor has marked the specific component, and expect criteria and mark allocations in the answer. Insist that the trial lesson runs on your child's own marked work. Ask where the tutor is based. And ask what happens if the match is wrong, because a provider with no rematch mechanism is asking you to carry the risk of their matching decision.

05

Timing flexibility is the only real discount

Families look for discounts in package deals and rarely find one worth having. The genuine lever in this market is the hour, and it is free to use. Between four and six in the afternoon every tutor, tuition centre and after-school activity in the northern emirates competes for the same window, and the narrower the window a family offers, the smaller the pool and the higher the effective price.

Widening it does two things at once. It increases the number of specialists who could take the booking, which for a scarce Higher Level subject can be the difference between a match and no match. And it moves the rate towards the lower end of the relevant band, because availability and price move together.

For a household in Al Khan there is a quality argument as well. A student who has crossed the boundary from a Dubai school is rarely at their best at half past four. The same student on a weekend morning is a different learner, and the hardest material belongs there. Families who move a Higher Level subject to the weekend almost never move it back, and they usually pay less for it.

The table below sets out how the pool changes with the request. The practical ask is to tell a provider the whole week rather than a preferred hour, because a specialist who is impossible at half past four may be entirely free at six or on a Saturday morning.

HOW THE REQUESTED HOUR CHANGES THE POOL

06

What concealment looks like in this market

  • A foreign contact number that never states where teaching happens
  • Prices quoted in a currency the family does not transact in
  • No price at all, or a price contradicted by the page's own markup
  • Ratings with no number, date or method, sometimes two on one page
  • Any offer to produce an Internal Assessment or Extended Essay

A page about disclosure should describe the alternative, because the practices are specific and a parent can spot them. They were found repeatedly in the competitor set behind this page, and none of them is illegal — they are simply ways of not answering the question a family is asking.

The first is a contact route that reveals the delivery model by accident. Two pages competing for these searches route families in this country to foreign phone numbers, and one shows an address in a different emirate from the one the page targets. Neither states where the teaching happens. The second is pricing in a currency families do not transact in: two of the strongest pages quote United States dollars at parents who pay in dirhams, which makes comparison difficult and looks accidental.

The third is pricing silence. Three of the six strongest pages in this cluster publish no price at all, and one publishes an hourly figure in its visible copy that contradicts the figure in its own structured data. The fourth is self-asserted social proof: ratings and review counts with no number, date or method behind them, and in one case two different figures on the same page.

The fifth, and the one that should end a conversation, is a provider offering to produce assessed work. One in this region advertises completed Internal Assessments for sale. That is academic malpractice, the student carries the consequence, and no price makes it a reasonable purchase. A family can check for all five of these in about five minutes, and doing so is a better use of time than comparing adjectives.

07

Permits, regulators and what we do not claim

  • The MoHRE permit is free for two years and worth asking about
  • No provider here holds regulator or board approval, including us
  • The student writes every word of any submitted component
  • We publish no unverified examination dates and copy no board material

Three facts hold regardless of which provider a family chooses, and they are stated here because parts of this market imply otherwise.

The permit. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, free of charge, for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published, so a page quoting an amount has invented it. The code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school.

The regulator. Private schools in Sharjah are regulated by the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which regulates private education in the emirate and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Dubai's answer to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to the Department of Education and Knowledge, Ras Al Khaimah to its Department of Knowledge, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah to the federal Ministry of Education. No tutoring provider, including IB Gram, holds approval, accreditation or a licence from any of them.

The coursework boundary. A tutor teaches the skill a component assesses, explains the published criteria and their command words, tests whether a topic can carry the work, questions the student's reasoning and gives feedback on a draft the student wrote. A tutor does not write, complete or rewrite any part of it. We also publish no IB examination or results dates, because the board's own site cannot be verified by automated checking, and we do not reproduce or supply board syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables.

Where we tutor

Al Khan and the districts around it

Within Sharjah the availability answer is the same across these districts, which is itself the useful finding. What differs is the hour at which a session can start.

Al Khan

Lagoon-side towers with schools in two emirates in reach. Cross-border arrivals after 4.30pm rule out the contested afternoon slot, and a visiting arrangement would price the crossing in.

Al Taawun

A short run west with a near-identical commute. Specialist availability is identical; only the arrival time differs by a few minutes, which is not enough to change a plan.

Al Majaz

East along the lagoon, same school mix and same rate bands. Families compare across these districts and find the scarcity answer unchanged.

Al Qasimia

Inland, where locally schooled children arrive earlier. The one district in this group with a genuine 4.30pm option, which slightly widens its available pool.

Al Nahda, Sharjah

The densest commuting belt on the boundary, with the latest arrivals in the group. The district where flexibility on timing pays the largest dividend.

Muwaileh and University City

Inland with shorter runs and a separate school cluster, including Diploma provision. More weekday flexibility and therefore better access to scarce specialists.

Dubai's Al Mamzar and Al Qusais

Across the water and the boundary, where a share of these children attend school. A Dubai-based visiting tutor asked to come east at five will usually decline or price the journey.

School ecosystem

Schools within reach of the lagoon

Both British-curriculum and Diploma provision sits within a reasonable radius. For an availability conversation the relevant detail is which Higher Level options a school actually runs, since a thin cohort narrows the local pool further.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the component and the whole week

Subject, level and the component that is costing marks, plus every slot that is genuinely usable including weekends. The second half of that is what determines whether a scarce specialist can be matched at all.

  2. 02

We state availability before anything else

How deep the supply is for that combination, roughly how long a match will take, and where the tutor is based. If no match exists at any hour you can use, you hear that at the first conversation rather than after a trial.

  3. 03

Free trial on your child's own marked work

Run by the specialist who would teach the block, with the criteria or mark scheme open. You should be able to judge within the hour whether criteria-level work is happening or whether content is simply being explained.

  4. 04

A rate quoted before you commit

Including where a scarce subject is matched outside the usual pool. Nobody should learn a price after a child has started working with somebody, and nobody should discover a tutor's location afterwards either.

  5. 05

    A rematch mechanism, not persuasion

If the match is wrong we replace it. A provider with no rematch route is asking the family to carry the risk of their matching decision, which in a scarce Higher Level subject is a term rather than a fee.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Coverage limits disclosed, not concealed

No page in this competitor set states where its supply runs out. We publish an availability table and tell a family at the first conversation when a combination cannot be matched at the hour they want.

Tutor location stated before the trial

Two pages competing for these searches route families in this country to foreign numbers without saying where anybody teaches from. We say where a tutor is based before a lesson happens, not after.

No near-match placements

Nobody is placed into a component they do not teach to fill a booking. A mismatch costs a term, and in the second Diploma year that is close to irrecoverable at any price.

Timing flexibility passed on

Widening the requested hour genuinely improves both availability and the rate, and we will tell you so rather than filling the contested four-to-six window at the top of the band.

Prices in dirhams, with sources

Every figure here is in AED and carries the provider or survey that published it and the month it was read. Two of the strongest competing pages quote dollars at families who transact in dirhams.

No examiner claims we cannot evidence

Premium provision in this market is sometimes sold on examiner status. We do not describe a tutor as an examiner without current evidence, and never imply access to marking, boundaries or paper content.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Khan: your questions answered

Why does a Higher Level subject cost more than an IGCSE one in Sharjah?+

Supply, not delivery cost. Higher Level Chemistry and Physics, and the extended-problem paper in either Diploma mathematics route, are thinly staffed across the whole region, so a request for one at a specific hour may contain very few available people. IGCSE mathematics and the sciences at qualified level have deep pools, which is why published rates sit lower and match times are shorter. The premium reflects scarcity of the specialism rather than the difficulty of teaching it.

What happens if no specialist is free at the hour we need?+

You get three options stated plainly rather than a vague promise. A different time with the right specialist, which is usually the correct answer and often costs less. A wait with an actual date attached, if the subject is genuinely scarce. Or a tutor based outside the UAE, with their location and working hours disclosed before the trial lesson rather than discovered afterwards. What we will not do is place somebody who does not teach the component in order to fill the slot.

Does IB Gram send a tutor to an apartment in Al Khan?+

No. We make no home visits anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Teaching here is one-to-one over live video at a fixed slot in Gulf Standard Time. If a person in the room is your requirement, in-home provision exists in this market from others at published rates of roughly AED 180 to AED 500 an hour including travel, and we would rather say so than waste your trial lesson on a model that does not match what you want.

How much does a mismatched tutor actually cost us?+

The fee and the term, and the term is the expensive half. The pattern is predictable: two pleasant sessions, then content being explained rather than a component diagnosed, then a parent sensing something is wrong without the vocabulary for it, then an internal deadline or a mock arriving with the weeks gone. A refund returns the money and nothing else. In the second Diploma year it is close to irrecoverable, because internal deadlines do not reopen.

Can we lower the rate by changing the time of the session?+

Yes, and it is the only discount in this market worth chasing. Between four and six in the afternoon every provider in the northern emirates competes for the same window, so a narrow request means a small pool and a rate at the top of the band. Offering a later evening or a weekend morning widens the pool, moves the rate towards the lower end and shortens the wait. For a scarce Higher Level subject it can be the difference between a match existing and not.

What exactly does a specialist rate buy that a qualified rate does not?+

Component knowledge. At specialist rates from AED 200 to AED 450 and above you are paying for somebody who has marked the thing your child is being assessed on: the criteria by letter, the mark allocations, the band boundaries and the specific losses that recur in that paper. At qualified rates of roughly AED 150 to 300 you are paying for solid subject teaching, which is often enough at Standard Level or for a content gap. Match the tier to what the marked work shows.

Should we pay a premium for a tutor described as an examiner?+

Only with evidence and a clear answer about what it buys. Premium provision in this market has been advertised as high as AED 650 an hour partly on examiner status, which a parent cannot easily verify and which must never imply access to marking, grade boundaries or paper content. We do not describe tutors as examiners without current evidence. If you are offered that premium, ask what distinguishes the hour from a specialist at half the rate and expect specifics rather than reassurance.

How do we tell whether a provider is concealing where teaching happens?+

Check the contact route and the currency. Two pages competing for these searches route families in this country to foreign phone numbers and never state where the teaching takes place; one shows an address in a different emirate from the one the page targets. Two quote United States dollars at parents who pay in dirhams. Three publish no price at all and one contradicts its own structured data. All five checks take about five minutes and tell you more than any list of adjectives.

Is a wait with a date better than taking whoever is available now?+

In a scarce subject, almost always. Families who accept a dated wait rarely regret it; families who accept a near-match in a Higher Level component frequently do, because the cost appears three weeks later as a term rather than immediately as a fee. The sensible interim is free school support: the marked script, the subject teacher's priority topics, and any departmental revision clinic, which is often under-attended simply because nobody mentions it.

Which subjects are genuinely hardest to match near this district?+

Computer Science and minority languages are the thinnest, followed by Diploma Higher Level Chemistry and Physics and the extended-problem paper in either mathematics route. Cambridge practical-skills paper work sits in the middle. IGCSE mathematics and the sciences at qualified level are the easiest matches in the market. Where a combination genuinely cannot be served at any hour you can use, we say so at the first conversation rather than offering a near-match and hoping.

Does the price change if the tutor is based outside the UAE?+

The rate reflects the specialism rather than the location, and it is quoted before the trial lesson rather than after. What changes with a non-UAE tutor is the working-hours overlap, which we disclose up front so a family can judge whether their timetable can actually be served. Nobody should learn either a price or a tutor's location after a child has started working with them; both belong in the first conversation.

Do tutors working with students in Al Khan need a UAE permit?+

Yes. The private tuition work permit came in under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. Tutoring without it carries fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and its code of conduct bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school.

What should we ask before a trial lesson rather than after?+

Four things. Has the tutor marked this specific component, and what are its criteria and mark allocations? Where is the tutor based and what hours do they work? What is the rate, including if this is a scarce subject matched outside the usual pool? And what happens if the match is wrong? A provider with no rematch mechanism is asking you to carry the risk of their matching decision, which in a scarce Higher Level subject is measured in weeks.

Is a cheap near-match ever the right call?+

Where the problem is organisation rather than assessment, yes. A student who needs company and structure to finish homework is well served at entry-level rates advertised from roughly AED 33 to 65 an hour, and paying a specialist for that is waste. Where the marked work shows a criteria or mark-scheme problem, a near-match is not cheap at any price, because it consumes the weeks in which the right person could have fixed it. The marked script decides which situation you are in.

Tell us the component and the whole week

Send the subject, the level, the component that is costing marks, and every slot you can genuinely use including weekends. We will tell you how deep the supply is for that combination, how long a match should take, where the tutor is based and what it will cost — before any trial lesson. Where no match exists at your hours, you will hear that straight away. Teaching runs one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time for families across Al Khan and the Sharjah lagoon districts.
