IB IGCSE Tuition near me in Ras Al Khaimah

Searching for IB IGCSE tuition near me in Ras Al Khaimah puts you in an emirate with its own education regulator, one that approves not only school licences but tuition fees, curricula and assessment methods. That changes which questions are worth asking. This page works through what the Department of Knowledge actually approves, how the two qualifications' calendars collide in one household, and what support costs here, with every figure sourced.

IB & IGCSE in Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah has its own regulator, and it approves more than you would expect

Most UAE tutoring pages treat the country as one jurisdiction with one set of rules. It is not, and in this emirate the difference is unusually concrete. Private education in Ras Al Khaimah is regulated by the Department of Knowledge, and the published position is that the authority approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. That is a broader remit than inspection. It means the programme your child is studying and the way it is assessed were both signed off at emirate level before any awarding body entered the picture.

For a parent that changes the useful questions. In Dubai the first question is usually about an inspection band. Here the more productive one is which approved programme your child is actually on and which board sets the papers, because an emirate that approves programmes and assessment methods is an emirate where a school may legitimately be running a combination that a generic article about the British curriculum does not describe. Families routinely discover in Year 10 that the entry is not the board they assumed.

Ras Al Khaimah also has a smaller private-school set than Dubai or Abu Dhabi, concentrated around Al Nakheel, Al Hamra and Mina Al Arab, and specialist subject teachers are genuinely scarce locally. That is the fact behind a short near-me list, and it is why remote one-to-one matters more here than it does in a city with two hundred private schools. The honest version of a near-me answer in this emirate is about supply, not about search engines.

A third local reality is the household running two qualifications at once. It is common here to have one child in an IGCSE year and another in the Diploma, which means three calendars in one family: a Cambridge or Pearson series with entry deadlines months before the papers, a set of internal Diploma deadlines that the school controls, and the UAE academic year with Ramadan inside it. A plan that ignores any of the three produces a collision in February. The calendar section below lays all three side by side using the dates Cambridge and Pearson have actually published, which is the one thing no competitor page in this market attempts.

One thing stated at the top so nothing later surprises you. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. Every lesson for a Ras Al Khaimah family is one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. In an emirate where the local pool of Higher Level and Extended-tier specialists is thin, that is the reason a household in Al Dhait can work with somebody who marks the exact paper their child will sit.

At a glance

  • The Department of Knowledge approves fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods
  • Confirm the board and syllabus code per subject, not per child
  • Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones with its own timetable version
  • Three calendars overlap in a two-qualification household: series, internal deadlines, academic year
  • Specialist supply is genuinely thin locally, which is a supply problem rather than a search problem

Cambridge IGCSE

Four-digit syllabus codes, several subjects tiered into Core and Extended paper sets with different achievable grade ranges, and two sittings a year that matter here: a June series and a November series, with November doubling as the resit route. Cambridge does run a February/March series, but it offers that one to India only, so it is not a window a Ras Al Khaimah candidate can enter and any February exam date you see quoted is not yours. Every centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, and Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct timetable version for the zone, and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one.

In Ras Al Khaimah the tier decision is the one to pin down early, because a smaller cohort often means a single teaching group with the entry split by tier late in the year. Ask the department in writing which code and which tier appears on the entry. Buying Extended-level tutoring for a Core-entered candidate is the most avoidable waste of money available here.

Codes of its own — 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1, 4BI1 — with examinations available in May/June and November each year. The November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson also publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series.

Because Pearson publishes provisional timetables that can be revised, any date on a tutoring page is indicative and the live official timetable is the document to work from. Several schools here enter candidates across both boards within one student's subject set, which is why two teachers at the same school can each be right about a different board.

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects at Higher or Standard Level across the groups, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and creativity, activity and service. Every subject carries externally assessed papers and an internally assessed component marked inside the school and moderated externally. The internal deadlines are set by the school and sit months before anything external, which makes them the dates that actually shape a tutoring plan.

No IB session or results date appears anywhere on this page, because none has been confirmed from the IB's own site for this project. The coordinator at your child's school holds the authoritative calendar, including every internal component deadline, and that document is free and more useful than any date a tutoring page could offer.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

Four criteria per subject, each scored 1 to 8, where the criteria describe different skills rather than levels of difficulty. A student can be strong on knowledge and weak on the criterion asking for evaluation or reflection, and the reported subject grade averages that away. The programme closes with a personal project the student designs and documents.

Where a Ras Al Khaimah school runs the Middle Years Programme alongside IGCSE provision in the emirate, families comparing the two routes should ask the same question of both: which assessed output does my child produce, and who marks it. The two programmes report so differently that comparing grades directly tells you almost nothing.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the subjects Ras Al Khaimah families most often ask about across both qualifications, with the codes to confirm and the place the marks actually sit.

Mathematics (IGCSE)

Core and Extended · Cambridge 0580, Pearson 4MA1

Wide, stable content marked largely objectively, where the loss is working rather than knowledge: method marks dropped because a line of algebra happened in the head. Tier placement matters more here than in any other subject, because the Core paper set caps the achievable grade before any tutoring starts.

Physics (IGCSE)

Core and Extended · Cambridge 0625, Pearson 4PH1

Electricity and the paper assessing practical skills are where candidates lose most. The experimental marks reward naming the controlled variable and the repeat; circuit questions reward reasoning set out in order. Both are trainable quickly and both are routinely untrained in a small department.

Chemistry (IGCSE)

Core and Extended · Cambridge 0620, Pearson 4CH1

Two failure modes needing two drills: mole arithmetic failing on units and early rounding, organic chemistry failing because reactions were learned as isolated facts rather than as routes between functional groups. A single revision plan addressing both as one weakness repairs neither.

Biology (IGCSE)

Core and Extended · Cambridge 0610, Pearson 4BI1

Largely recall, which makes the grade distribution surprising. The extended-response marks turn on command words, so a six-mark answer to explain that only describes takes two or three. Practising against the published criteria rather than against a textbook is what moves it.

First Language English (IGCSE)

Cambridge 0500 and 0990

Marked against criteria rather than content, which is why well-written work can score modestly and a parent reading it cannot see why. Directed writing needs the register and audience the task specified; the reading summary is marked on selection and concision. Specialist marking helps more than extra reading.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (IB DP)

HL and SL · Group 5

Higher Level adds formal proof and deeper calculus, content that does not appear at Standard Level at all. Method marks reward sequence written down. The exploration is assessed against five lettered criteria, and the two most often lost are personal engagement and reflection, because both are written as bookends.

Chemistry (IB DP)

HL and SL · Group 4

The scientific investigation is assessed across research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation, and the evaluation criterion rewards named instrument and method limits rather than general caution. Higher Level extension material is the hardest part of the course and the scarcest locally.

Physics (IB DP)

HL and SL · Group 4

Marks exist for method as well as answer, so reasoning held mentally is unmarked. In the investigation, data analysis rewards correct uncertainty treatment and a graph that earns its axes. Both are specialist marking rather than general science teaching, which is exactly what a small emirate is short of.

English A: Language and Literature (IB DP)

HL and SL · Group 1

Assessed on how texts produce their effects rather than on what they say, and the individual oral rewards a connective argument tracing one global issue across two works. Students describe both works competently and never build the bridge, which is audible on a first rehearsal.

Economics and Business Management (IB DP)

HL and SL · Group 3

Diagrams are marked and are mostly drawn from memory rather than labelled to the question. Evaluation sits at the end of long answers and is the most frequently unwritten set of marks in either subject. The internally assessed work rewards one concept applied precisely rather than a summary.

Arabic as a first language

Mandatory alongside either curriculum

A federal requirement running beside the licensed curriculum, with teaching conditions set centrally, including the language of instruction and a requirement that classes for Arab and non-Arab students be organised separately. Families in the northern emirates tell us this is the hardest stream to resource locally.

Islamic Education and Social Studies

Mandatory alongside either curriculum

Also federally mandated and separately organised by group, with instructional time calculated in lesson units and content constrained: additional or different material may not be used without prior permission from the Ministry. That is a genuine limit on how any private tutoring in these subjects can be described.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements, all one-to-one over live video. Which one fits depends on which qualification and which stage of its calendar your child is actually at.

Weekly one-to-one by subject and tier

A standing hour in one subject at the tier or level actually entered, with a timed task marked before each session. For an IGCSE candidate the task is a past-style question set to the real time limit; for a Diploma student it is a paper-style answer against the published command terms. Either way the hour is spent on the marks rather than on reading the work for the first time.

  • Matched to the syllabus code and tier on the entry
  • A timed task every week, marked against the published criteria
  • A written note naming the mark lost, not the topic covered
  • Slots that account for the drive from Al Hamra or Al Qusaidat

Two children, two arrangements

Where a household is running an IGCSE year and a Diploma year at once, the honest structure is two separate arrangements rather than one rotating hour. The qualifications are marked differently, the calendars run on different clocks, and a single hour divided between them delivers a third of a session to each. Scheduling them back to back on the same evening is usually what families actually want.

  • Separate tutors matched to each qualification and level
  • Consecutive slots on one evening where the household prefers it
  • Each child's calendar tracked against its own deadlines
  • Priced per subject, because one child is not two arrangements

A deadline-anchored block

Four to eight hours placed against a fixed date: a Cambridge or Pearson entry and series, or a school's internal deadline for a Diploma component. Blocks have a named target and an end, which is what stops them becoming an open subscription. The spacing matters as much as the hours, because several component faults cannot be repaired after the data is collected.

  • Counted backwards from the official timetable or the school's calendar
  • A named target agreed before the block begins
  • Criteria read together before any drafting starts
  • No automatic continuation at the end of the block

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Ras Al Khaimah

01

What the Department of Knowledge approves, and what it does not

Private schools in the UAE sit under five different authorities. Dubai's are overseen by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain fall to the Department of Education and Knowledge, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools there. Sharjah has the Sharjah Private Education Authority. Ras Al Khaimah has its own Department of Knowledge, which regulates private education in the emirate. Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah sit with the federal Ministry of Education.

Two of those five have a notably wider published remit, and Ras Al Khaimah is one of them: the Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah authorities approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. A Dubai parent is used to thinking of a regulator as an inspector. Here the authority is also a gatekeeper on what is taught, how it is assessed, and what it costs. That distinction is not cosmetic, and it is one that returns zero mentions across the competitor pages researched for this market.

What the authority does not control is the awarding body. Cambridge sets its own syllabus codes, paper structures and series, allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, and publishes the timetable version that applies to each. Pearson sets its own codes and publishes provisional and final timetables per series. The International Baccalaureate sets subject guides and assessment requirements. A school's programme being approved locally does not change a single thing about how the papers are set or marked.

And a third layer sits above both. The federal position is that private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations. The table sorts the three layers, because knowing which body controls which thing tells a parent exactly who to ask when an answer is needed.

School fees are approved here; tutoring prices are not

  • The approved school fee is a firmer budget anchor than any tutoring rate
  • No authority approves or publishes private tutoring prices in the UAE
  • A northern-emirates quote can be reasonable and still sit above a national average
  • Ask any provider plainly whether their figure is inclusive of tax

This is the most practically useful consequence of the local regulatory structure and nobody writes it down. Your school's tuition fee went through an approval process at emirate level. The hourly rate a private tutor quotes you did not, and there is no published tariff, no approval step and no authority to appeal to on price. The two numbers sit in completely different regulatory worlds, and parents reasonably assume otherwise because both are called fees.

The practical effect is that the school fee is the more reliable anchor for a budget conversation. It is published, it is approved, and it is comparable year to year. A tutoring quote is a market price in a market where supply is thin, which in the northern emirates means a quote can be entirely reasonable and still be well above a national average, because the national average includes Dubai, where the supply is deep. Elsewhere in the country, Dubai's authority confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in that emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under an economic incentives package; Ras Al Khaimah's authority runs its own approval process and that announcement does not apply here.

Two further things follow. Treat any claim that a tutoring price is regulated, approved or set by an authority as false, because no such mechanism exists. And treat the absence of a published price as information rather than as discretion: three of six competitor pages researched in this market publish no figure at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, which is not a currency a Ras Al Khaimah family transacts in.

On tax, this page will not state the UAE VAT treatment of tuition fees as a matter of fact, because that requires a Federal Tax Authority citation that nobody in this market supplies. What is reasonable to expect from any provider is a plain answer about whether their own quoted figure is what leaves your account, and a tax registration number if they hold one.

03

Three calendars over one Ras Al Khaimah family year

A household with one child in Year 11 and another in the Diploma is running three clocks. The first is the awarding body's series, with entry deadlines that sit months before any paper. The second is the school's internal deadline calendar for Diploma components, which the school sets and which nobody outside the school publishes. The third is the UAE academic year, with Ramadan inside it compressing the school day and shifting family routines.

The entry-deadline point is the one that catches families, and the clearest published illustration for a UAE household is Pearson's November 2026 International GCSE series: the timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, and results from the equivalent November 2025 series reached students on 22 January 2026. Entries for a November series are settled long before late October, which is the whole lesson in miniature. Cambridge works the same way on its June series, the main sitting for candidates in Ras Al Khaimah, with November as the resit route: the papers fall across May and June, entries close in the spring several months ahead of the first one, and forecast grades follow after that. We are deliberately not printing a day and a month for those Cambridge milestones, because the exact dates arrive on your child's statement of entry and in the zone timetable the school is allocated to. Read the sequence backwards and the point is unmissable: the decision that fixes which papers a child sits is taken months before the first one, when the household still thinks of exams as a long way off.

Pearson's position is comparable and its dates are also published: International GCSE examinations are available in May/June and November, the November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, so these are a worked example of structure rather than dates to plan against; use the live official timetable.

For the Diploma side, this page publishes no session or results date at all, because none has been confirmed from the IB's own site for this project. The table therefore anchors the sourced Cambridge and Pearson milestones and treats the Diploma column as what the school's own calendar controls, which is how a parent should treat it too. Ask the coordinator for that calendar in the first term; it is the single most useful free document in the arrangement.

Which papers your child's school actually enters them for, and the email that settles it

  • Ask per subject: board, code, tier, and when the tier is final
  • Ask the exams officer which administrative zone the centre is in
  • Mixed board entries within one student's subject set are normal
  • For the Diploma, ask for the internal deadline for every component

In an emirate where the authority approves programmes and assessment methods, the thing a parent most needs is not an opinion about curricula but a fact about their own child's entry. That fact is held by the subject department and is almost never volunteered. It takes one email to obtain and it changes what tuition should be bought.

Ask four things, per subject rather than per child. Which awarding body sets this subject's papers. Which syllabus code. Which tier, where the subject is tiered, and when that decision is final. And which administrative zone the centre sits in, since Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six zones, states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for the zone, and says it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one.

The reason to ask per subject is that mixed entries are normal and nobody announces them. A school may enter Mathematics with one board and the sciences with another, which is how two teachers at the same school can give a parent two different and equally honest answers. For the Diploma side, the equivalent question is the level and the internal deadline for every assessed component, because those deadlines are what a tutoring plan has to be built against.

Two things follow once you have the answers. First, revision material written for the wrong board wastes weeks: codes differ, paper counts differ, tiering differs, and practical skill is assessed differently. Second, a tutor who re-plans around the actual code when you tell them is demonstrating something useful about how they work, and one who keeps teaching from their existing material is demonstrating something else.

05

The federal mandatory subjects inside a Ras Al Khaimah timetable

Whatever international curriculum a school is licensed for, Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies sit on top of it. That is the federal baseline: private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond those subjects, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations. Every emirate's mandatory-subject requirement rests on that, and in Ras Al Khaimah the emirate authority's approval of curricula and assessment methods sits alongside it rather than instead of it.

The conditions attached are more specific than families expect, and the published Dubai guidance is the clearest statement of the pattern. Schools must organise separate classes by group for Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, with combined classes for Arab and non-Arab students strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language, with the school's licensed-curriculum language used for non-Arabs in Islamic Education and in moral, social and cultural studies.

Two further details matter for anybody buying tutoring in these subjects. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, schools may vary lesson length provided the total weekly time is met, and it is advised that any mandatory-subject lesson runs at least 25 minutes. And the use of any different or additional content, without prior permission from the Ministry, is strictly prohibited — which is a real constraint on what a private tutor can legitimately bring to a session in these subjects, and one worth stating rather than glossing.

The practical position we take is narrow and honest. Support in these subjects is about the student's own set material and the skills the assessment requires, not about substituting a syllabus. Separately, schools are required to ensure that all teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold the relevant approval to teach those subjects, which is a concrete credential question a parent can put to a school. No tutoring provider, including this one, holds any such approval, and nobody should imply otherwise.

06

What IB and IGCSE tuition costs around Ras Al Khaimah, with the sources

Three of six competitor pages researched in this market publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars. The figures below are AED, each attributed to the provider or survey that published it, and all researched in October 2026. They describe the market an emirate family is buying in. They are not an IB Gram price list, and the correct use of them is as a yardstick against whatever quote arrives in your inbox.

At the budget end, EdFlik advertises from AED 45 to 65 an hour and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52, which generally buys group teaching or a university-student tutor rather than specialist one-to-one. For a qualified subject tutor working online the band runs roughly AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. For specialist IB, IGCSE or A Level work, a 2026 Dubai cost survey gives AED 200 to 450 and above, and TutorChase quotes AED 270. At the premium end BartyED publishes AED 650.

In-home visits are the band to read most carefully from a northern-emirates address. The same survey puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 an hour, and independent home tutors at AED 200 to 500 once travel sits inside the rate. Monthly shapes seen in this market are about AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits, which converts to roughly AED 100 a session online and AED 200 to 225 per teaching hour in home. From Al Marjan Island or Digdaga the travel element inside an in-home rate is larger than it would be in Dubai, and somebody pays it.

One honest observation about the local market rather than about any brand. Supply in the northern emirates is thin, and a thin market prices like one, so the same specialist hour costs more here than a national average suggests. The table lays the provider models out with their sources, and the last column names what is actually regulated, which is the point this emirate makes available and nobody uses.

Why specialist supply is thin here, and what to do about it

Ras Al Khaimah's private-school set is smaller than Dubai's or Abu Dhabi's and is concentrated in a few areas. That is not a criticism of the schools; it is an arithmetic fact with a predictable consequence. Fewer schools means fewer departments, fewer option blocks per subject, and a much smaller resident population of teachers who have taken a specific course to examination. The subjects that go short are consistent: Higher Level sciences, Group 2 languages beyond the common ones, Psychology, Computer Science, and Arabic as a first language.

The useful response is not to lower the specification. It is to stop using distance as the filter. The question that sorts candidates is which level or tier have you taught to examination, and which assessed component have you marked — not how far away do you live. A twenty-minute radius around Al Dhait is a smaller and worse-matched pool for Higher Level Chemistry than the country as a whole, and for some subjects it contains nobody at all.

There is a second response worth trying first, because it is free. Go back to the school and ask in writing what internal support exists for the course, because a department with four Higher Level students has options a parent cannot see: a lunchtime clinic, a shared group with another year, additional supervision for a component. Ask the coordinator whether another family is in the same position, since two households needing the same scarce subject is the easiest problem in this market to solve.

Where we can help, we say so with a subject and a level. Mathematics on both IB routes, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English A and B, IGCSE sciences and English, Economics and Business Management are generally matchable within a few days. Computer Science at Higher Level, the arts at Higher Level, some ab initio languages and Arabic as a first language take longer or occasionally cannot be matched at the moment you ask. You get that answer with the reason rather than being left on a list, because a parent who knows a subject is nationally scarce can act on it.

08

Authorship, materials and a regulator that approves assessment methods

  • Dated drafts, comments rather than rewrites, and a note of what was not touched
  • The test: could the student defend every sentence to their supervisor?
  • Reference board materials; do not accept a downloadable archive of them
  • No provider in this market holds a regulator's approval, and none should imply it

In an emirate where assessment methods are approved at regulator level, the integrity of what a student submits is not a side issue. Both qualifications carry work that must be the student's own: coursework and practical components at IGCSE, and an internally assessed component in every Diploma subject plus the core. The line is clear and it is worth saying out loud in the first session.

A tutor may teach the skill, read the criteria with the student, question whether a research question can actually be answered, ask what a paragraph is trying to establish, point at a thin section and say why it is thin, and mark a timed task. A tutor may not be the author of any part of assessed work. One operator researched in this market advertises finished internal assessments at a four-figure price; buying that moves every bit of the risk onto the student, since awarding bodies treat authorship breaches as malpractice and the penalty can reach a whole entry rather than one component.

The protection is a record, and it costs nothing if it starts in week one. The student keeps dated drafts rather than overwriting one file. Tutor input stays as comments and questions on the student's own text. A short note after each session records what was discussed and what was not touched. Nothing is submitted that the student could not defend, sentence by sentence, to their own supervisor — which is the whole test, and the one schools rely on when they ask a student to confirm authorship.

Materials deserve the same care. Syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables and subject guides belong to the awarding bodies. The right approach is to reference the official pages, link them, and work from what the school has legitimately issued. A provider offering a downloadable library of board material as a selling point is telling you something about their judgement, and for unreleased material it is worse than a copyright problem.

How lessons run from here, and the home-tuition question answered straight

Every lesson for a Ras Al Khaimah family runs one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. The student needs a device with a working camera, a stable connection, headphones, and paper and a pen on the desk. Written work is photographed and sent ahead so it arrives marked, which keeps the hour on the marks rather than on reading. The camera matters because a tutor needs to see written working appear, and paper matters because every paper in both qualifications is handwritten under time pressure.

Families here often begin by looking for somebody to come to the house, and it is fairer to answer that plainly than to steer past it. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. The in-home market exists and is priced in the table above so you can weigh it on its merits — AED 180 to 350 an hour in the published survey, AED 200 to 500 for independents once travel is inside the rate, usually on a two-hour minimum.

What video delivery buys in this emirate is specifically the thing the emirate is short of. A household in Mina Al Arab choosing between a nearby generalist and a remote specialist in Extended-tier Physics is not trading quality for convenience; it is choosing between someone who has marked that paper and someone who has not. Removing travel from the match means the subject decides it.

The honest limits belong in the same paragraph as the advantages. A screen cannot supervise a student into starting work, cannot handle laboratory apparatus, and reads a reluctant fifteen-year-old less well than an adult at the same table. Where one of those is the real problem, the local market option is the sensible recommendation and we will say so at the free diagnostic rather than after a term of invoices.

10

Starting, and what we will tell you that nobody else does

The sequence is short. Send the subject, the board and code if you know it, the tier or level, the year group, a photograph of recent marked work, and the two evening windows your household can genuinely hold given the drive from your part of the emirate. If a second child needs support, send both, because two children on two qualifications is two arrangements rather than one divided hour.

You get back a named tutor with their subject, board and level coverage and a proposed slot in Gulf Standard Time, or a straight statement that this subject at this level is not matchable at the moment, with the reason. The first lesson is free, no payment is taken before it, and its output is a written diagnosis rather than a sales conversation: board and code identified from the script, apparent tier or level, the two or three marks being lost repeatedly, and a three-week plan specific enough to be proved wrong by week four.

Three disclosures that competitor pages in this market do not make. Coverage limits are stated, including subjects we cannot cover. Every AED figure is attributed and dated. And no IB session or results date appears anywhere here, because none has been confirmed from the IB's own site for this project — your coordinator holds the authoritative calendar, and Cambridge and Pearson dates on this page carry their published source and their status.

There is also a version of this answer that recommends spending nothing. If the diagnostic concludes that the school's own clinic is the right first step, that the gap is supervision rather than teaching, or that a component has passed the point where it can be repaired, you will hear it at the free lesson. The week-six review exists to reach the same conclusion later if the marked evidence supports it: six scripts on the table, one question about whether the mark is still going missing, and a willingness to say stop.

Where we tutor

Where in Ras Al Khaimah families contact us from, and what each area needs

The emirate's private schooling is concentrated in a few areas, and the distances between the rest of it are real. These are the places we hear from and what each one tends to be solving.

Al Nakheel

Central and the most densely served part of the emirate for schooling, so school runs are short and an earlier session is workable. Enquiries here are most often single-subject IGCSE sciences a grade below target.

Al Hamra Village

Coastal community to the south with a longer run towards the city, which makes late-afternoon appointments fragile and video slots dependable. Diploma enquiries are proportionally higher here than elsewhere in the emirate.

Mina Al Arab

Growing residential district where households frequently run two children on different qualifications. The question we get most is whether one arrangement can serve both, and the answer is usually no for good reasons.

Al Dhait

Established residential area with longer internal journeys. This is the district from which the thinness of local specialist supply is felt most sharply, particularly in Higher Level sciences and in Extended-tier Physics.

Khuzam

Close to the city with reasonable access to the main school cluster. Families here ask most often about tier placement and about which board their child's department has actually entered them for.

Al Qusaidat and Al Mamourah

Northern districts where the drive to the main school cluster shapes the evening. Sessions sit later, and a shorter, sharper hour works better than a full one at the end of a long day.

Al Marjan Island and Al Jazirah Al Hamra

Coastal and lower-density, with the longest approaches of all. These are the addresses where a visiting tutor's travel element would dominate the rate, which is why the comparison on this page is worth reading carefully.

Digdaga and the inland villages

Spread out, with the smallest local pool of any part of the emirate. For a specialist subject, the honest position here is that proximity cannot deliver and was never the right filter.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah city and Al Hamra

The emirate's private-school provision is concentrated in these areas, spanning British and Indian curricula with IB provision among them. Every programme and assessment method is approved at emirate level by the Department of Knowledge. Students we support attend schools across this group.

  • RAK Academy – British School Al Hamra
  • RAK Academy – British School Khuzam
  • Ras Al Khaimah English Speaking School
  • Our Own English High School – Ras Al Khaimah

Indian-curriculum provision in the emirate

A substantial share of RAK households are on an Indian-curriculum route, and a meaningful number move across to IGCSE or into the Diploma mid-school. That transition, rather than classroom teaching, is what most of our northern-emirates enquiries are actually about.

  • Scholars Indian School
  • Indian School Ras Al Khaimah
  • Delhi Private School Ras Al Khaimah

Named schools appear as context for the Ras Al Khaimah education market only; no affiliation, partnership or endorsement is implied or claimed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the board, the code and the tier

Per subject, not per child, because mixed entries across boards are normal and nobody announces them. Add the year group, a photograph of recent marked work, any internal Diploma deadline you hold, and the two evening windows that work given the drive from your part of the emirate.

  2. 02

One email to the school first

Ask the subject department which awarding body, which syllabus code, which tier and when the tier is final, and ask the exams officer which administrative zone the centre sits in. Those four facts change what tuition is worth buying, and revision material written for the wrong board wastes weeks.

  3. 03

    Coverage stated before anything else

If the subject and level are matchable in a few days you get a named tutor, their coverage and a proposed slot in Gulf Standard Time. If they are not, you get that answer with the reason, so you can go back to the department or widen the search instead of waiting.

  4. 04

    A free diagnostic hour

No payment beforehand. The tutor works from the student's own script and reports in writing: board and code, apparent tier or level, the marks being lost repeatedly, and what the first three weeks will target. If the honest recommendation is to spend nothing, you hear it then.

  5. 05

    Calendars anchored to published dates

IGCSE work is counted backwards from the live official timetable rather than from any date on this page, and Diploma component work is counted backwards from the school's own internal deadline. No IB session date is used, because none is confirmed for this project.

  6. 06

    The week-six review

Six marked scripts and the criterion log on the table, one question: is the same mark still going missing? If it is, the diagnosis, the plan or the match changes. If the evidence says the money belongs elsewhere, that is said plainly rather than left for you to work out.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Anchored to this emirate's actual regulator

Ras Al Khaimah's Department of Knowledge approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, which is a wider remit than inspection. Every regulatory statement on this page cites the authority that published it rather than paraphrasing a national average.

Dates with their source and their status

Pearson's November 2026 timetable window and its published results dates are quoted as given, with the point that Pearson issues provisional timetables that can be revised. Cambridge June-series milestones are described by their shape rather than by a day and month, because the exact dates belong to your centre's zone timetable. No February or March exam window appears, because Cambridge offers that series to India only. No IB session or results date appears anywhere, because none has been confirmed from the IB's own site for this project.

Every AED figure attributed

Three of six researched competitors publish no price and the two that do quote in US dollars. Each band here names the provider or survey behind it and is dated to October 2026, so a northern-emirates quote can be judged against the band rather than against a feeling.

Matched on board, code and tier

Buying Extended-tier tutoring for a Core-entered candidate is the most avoidable waste in this market, and it happens because nobody checked the entry. Matching here asks for the board, the code and the tier, and re-plans when the school's answer differs from the parent's.

Two children means two arrangements

A household running an IGCSE year and a Diploma year gets separate tutors on consecutive slots rather than one hour divided in two. The qualifications are marked differently and their calendars run on different clocks, and a rotating hour delivers a third of a session to each child.

Coverage gaps named

No competitor researched in this market discloses a coverage limit. Higher Level Computer Science, the arts at Higher Level, some ab initio languages and Arabic as a first language may not be matchable when you ask, and you will be told that with the reason rather than left waiting.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Ras Al Khaimah: your questions answered

What does the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge actually approve?+

More than a Dubai parent would expect. The published position is that the Ras Al Khaimah authority, like Sharjah's, approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, and that the Department of Knowledge regulates private education in the emirate. That is a wider remit than inspection alone. What it does not control is the awarding body: Cambridge, Pearson and the International Baccalaureate set their own syllabus codes, paper structures, timetables and criteria regardless of local approval. Knowing which body decides which thing tells you exactly who to ask when you need an answer.

If the regulator approves school fees, why are tutoring prices not regulated?+

Because they sit in completely different regulatory worlds, and both being called fees causes real confusion. Your school's tuition fee went through an approval process at emirate level and is published. A private tutor's hourly rate goes through no approval step, has no published tariff and no authority to appeal to. Treat any claim that a tutoring price is approved or set by an authority as false. The practical consequence is that the approved school fee is the firmer anchor for a budget conversation, and a tutoring quote is a market price in a market where local supply is thin.

How do I confirm which exam board my child's Ras Al Khaimah school uses?+

One email to the subject department, asked per subject rather than per child, because mixed entries across boards are normal and nobody announces them. Ask four things: which awarding body sets this subject's papers, which syllabus code, which tier where the subject is tiered and when that decision is final, and which administrative zone the centre sits in. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six zones, states it is essential to use the correct timetable version, and says it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one.

Can one tutor cover an IGCSE child and a Diploma child in the same house?+

Usually not, and for good reasons rather than commercial ones. The two qualifications are marked against different things, the Diploma carries internally assessed components with school-set deadlines that IGCSE does not, and the calendars run on different clocks. A single hour divided between two children delivers a third of a session to each. What families generally want, once it is offered, is two separate arrangements scheduled back to back on the same evening, each matched to its own qualification and level and priced per subject.

How do the IGCSE series and the Diploma deadlines collide in one family year?+

Mostly in the spring, and the collision is worse than families expect. The Cambridge June series is the sitting a Ras Al Khaimah candidate takes, with November as the resit route; its papers fall across May and June, and its final entry deadline lands in the spring term, several months earlier. That spring window is also when the heaviest internal Diploma deadlines and the mock season sit, so one child is being entered for external papers while the other is closing components. Pearson runs May/June and November, with the November 2026 International GCSE timetable running to 19 November 2026 and those results reaching students in the following January. Ask the coordinator for the school's internal calendar, then overlay the official timetable for your centre's Cambridge zone on top of it rather than working from any date quoted on a tutoring page.

Why is specialist tuition harder to find in Ras Al Khaimah than in Dubai?+

Arithmetic rather than quality. The emirate's private-school set is smaller and concentrated in a few areas, so there are fewer departments, fewer option blocks per subject and a much smaller resident population of teachers who have taken a specific course to examination. The subjects that go short are consistent: Higher Level sciences, Group 2 languages beyond the common ones, Psychology, Computer Science and Arabic as a first language. The useful response is not to lower the specification but to stop using distance as the filter, because a tight radius is a smaller and worse-matched pool.

Do Arabic and Islamic Education still apply at a school with an international curriculum here?+

Yes. The federal baseline is that private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations. The published conditions are specific: separate classes must be organised for Arab and non-Arab students in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, with combined classes prohibited because expectations and the language of instruction differ. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, and using different or additional content without prior Ministry permission is prohibited.

What does IB and IGCSE tuition cost around Ras Al Khaimah?+

Published market figures, researched October 2026 and attributed: EdFlik from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52 at the budget end, which is generally group or university-student tutoring. Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200 for qualified online work. A 2026 Dubai cost survey gives AED 200 to 450 and above for IB, IGCSE and A Level specialists, with TutorChase at AED 270 and BartyED at AED 650. In-home visits run AED 180 to 350, and AED 200 to 500 for independents once travel is inside the rate.

Is there an inspection report I can read for a private school in this emirate?+

Start with the Department of Knowledge, since it regulates private education in the emirate and approves the school's programmes and assessment methods, and ask the school directly for whatever judgement or report it holds. Read at subject level rather than at headline level, because a school rated well overall can contain a department identified as needing improvement, and the detail that matters is in the body of a report. Check the date too: a department can be rebuilt in two years, so a judgement describes the school as it was on the inspection dates.

Does "near me" matter at all if the tuition happens over video?+

Three local things still matter and one does not. The tutor's address does not. What does matter is the drive from your part of the emirate, because it decides the earliest hour a session can realistically start — later from Al Marjan Island or Digdaga than from Al Nakheel. The examination centre matters, because that is where your child physically sits the papers. And the school's own internal deadlines matter, because the plan is built backwards from them. Those three are worth establishing in the first term; the tutor's postcode never was.

Can a tutor give my child past papers and mark schemes to keep?+

Marking your child's work against the published criteria is exactly what a tutor should be doing. Supplying a downloadable library of papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables or subject guides is a different matter, because those documents belong to the awarding bodies. The correct route is to reference the official pages, link them, and work from material the school has legitimately issued. A provider advertising an archive of board material as a feature is telling you something about their judgement, and for unreleased material the exposure is more serious than copyright.

What is the earliest a weekday session can realistically start here?+

It depends on the drive rather than on the hour. From Al Nakheel or Khuzam, where the main school cluster sits, a late-afternoon start is workable. From Al Hamra Village, Al Marjan Island, Al Qusaidat or the inland villages the return journey eats the early evening, and a session booked optimistically for 16:30 in September becomes a 18:30 session by October. Our practice is to set the slot at the hour a household can actually keep every week, because a slot that gets missed produces no marked work and therefore no evidence of anything.

Which Cambridge and Pearson dates are genuinely fixed, and which can change?+

Pearson's published windows are the firmest thing you can plan against in the near term — the November 2026 International GCSE timetable runs to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached students on 20 August 2026 and November 2025 results on 22 January 2026 — and even those start life as provisional timetables that can be revised. Cambridge publishes key dates per series and allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, each with its own timetable version, which is why a date that is correct for one centre can be wrong for another. Two things are worth knowing as fixed facts rather than dates: a UAE candidate sits the June and November series, and the February/March series belongs to India. Everything else, including the figures quoted here as worked examples, should be checked against the live official timetable and your statement of entry.

Do you offer home tuition in Ras Al Khaimah, or only lessons over video?+

Only over live video, one-to-one, timed to Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. The in-home market genuinely exists and is priced on this page so you can weigh it fairly, usually on a two-hour minimum with travel inside the rate. The one thing a visit buys that a screen cannot is an adult in the room, which matters where supervision rather than teaching is the real need, and we will recommend it at the free diagnostic when that is the honest answer.

What if you cannot cover the subject my child needs?+

You get told, with the reason, rather than left on a list — and then three things are worth doing. Ask the school in writing what internal support exists for the course, because a department with four Higher Level students has options a parent cannot see. Ask the coordinator whether another family is in the same position, since two households needing the same scarce subject is the easiest problem in this market to solve. Then widen the search, judging candidates on which level they have taught to examination rather than on how near they live.

Confirm the entry, then get a diagnosis

Two short steps put a Ras Al Khaimah family ahead of almost everyone searching for this. First, email the subject department and ask, per subject, which awarding body, which syllabus code, which tier and when the tier is final, plus which administrative zone the centre sits in. Second, send us that answer with the year group, a photograph of recent marked work and the two evening windows your household can genuinely hold given the drive. You will get a named tutor and a slot, or a straight statement that the subject is not matchable right now and why. The first lesson is free and produces a written diagnosis, and nothing is taken before it happens.
