IB and IGCSE tutors for Remraam families

Most enquiries about IB and IGCSE tutors in Remraam arrive in Year 11, with a budget attached. This community is apartment stock at a lower price point than its Dubailand neighbours, and the families here ask a sharper question than most: what is the least I can spend to move this grade, and what am I being sold that I do not need. This page answers both, with the AED bands set out and the things worth paying for separated from the things that are not.

IB & IGCSE in Remraam

The least you can spend to move the grade

Remraam is apartment-only, sits on the Dubailand side of Al Qudra Road, and is priced below the townhouse communities around it. That shows up in the enquiries. Families here are rarely looking for a prestige tutor or a two-year arrangement. They have a Year 11 student with two or three weak subjects, a budget that is real rather than notional, and a reasonable suspicion that the tutoring market is not being straight with them about what is necessary.

That suspicion is well founded. Across the Dubai market the advertised hourly rate spans AED 33 to AED 650, a twentyfold range for something described in identical language at both ends. Three of the pages ranking for this kind of search publish no price at all, and two quote in US dollars. One competitor's own frequently-asked-questions section asks what tutoring costs and then declines to answer. A parent in Remraam is being asked to buy a service whose price is deliberately obscured, which is exactly the condition under which people overpay.

The useful framing is marks gained per dirham spent, and it produces counterintuitive answers. The highest-return purchase in the whole market is a single diagnostic hour with a specialist who marks your child's real work against the real criteria, because it frequently collapses a four-subject worry into one subject plus a technique problem. The second highest is an eight-week block of timed-paper work before a series, for a student whose content is secure and whose technique is not. The lowest-return purchase is a weekly general session in a subject where the actual gap is reading or practice the student has not done, which no amount of contact replaces.

There is also a category of thing that should not be bought at all, because it is already available through the school. Past-paper access, mark schemes, subject guides, predicted-grade conversations and departmental revision sessions all sit with the school and its examinations officer. A provider charging for access to board material is charging for something they should not be distributing in the first place, and the material is not theirs to sell.

IB Gram is a matching platform, not a centre, and there is no IB Gram premises in Dubai. For UAE families every lesson is delivered one to one over live video with a shared whiteboard and a recording the student keeps. We do not send a tutor to any UAE address; home visits are a service offered only in India. For a budget-conscious Remraam household that matters directly: an in-home visit in this market carries AED 180 to AED 500 an hour with travel priced in, and this community is far enough out that travel is a large part of the number.

At a glance

  • The Dubai advertised range is AED 33 to AED 650 an hour for similar-sounding work
  • Highest return: one diagnostic hour that narrows the problem
  • Second highest: an eight-week timed-paper block before a series
  • Lowest return: weekly general sessions where the gap is unread text
  • Do not pay anyone for board past papers or mark schemes
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Remraam's cohort is weighted towards the IGCSE years, with a smaller Diploma group and a steady primary population in the newer blocks. Each route has a different cost profile.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE

Eight to ten subjects examined at the end of Year 11 on short, patterned papers with published mark schemes. Cambridge tiers several subjects into Core and Extended, and Core caps the achievable grade at C. Pearson uses separate codes and paper structures for the same subjects. Of all the qualifications here this is the one where cheap, well-targeted intervention works best, because the assessment is predictable.

This is where most Remraam money goes, and usually in Year 11 rather than Year 10. The cost-efficient sequence is one diagnostic hour, then weekly work on the single diagnosed weakness, then a timed-paper block in the final two months. Starting in Year 10 is cheaper per mark than starting at Easter in Year 11, because there is time for the student's own practice to do the heavy lifting.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects with three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Each subject's internal assessment is worth roughly a fifth to a quarter of the grade and is written over months outside lesson time. The cost profile is different from IGCSE: fewer hours, but concentrated around deadlines rather than spread evenly.

Remraam's Diploma students mostly travel to Greenfield International School in Dubai Investments Park or Fairgreen International School in The Sustainable City. For a budget-aware family the efficient pattern is not weekly tutoring across two years but short supervised blocks at the three internal assessment deadlines, plus an intensive before the May session.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria marked 0 to 8, converted to a 1 to 7 grade, with no external paper before the optional MYP 5 eAssessment. Marks are lost by students who can do the work but have not read what the criteria reward, which is the cheapest thing in the whole system to fix.

Middle Years enquiries from Remraam are usually about a specific criterion rather than a whole subject. Two or three sessions spent reading the criteria alongside the student's own marked tasks often produces more movement than a term of general subject work, and costs a fraction of it.

PYPAges 3-11 · FS2 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Inquiry-led, with descriptive reporting and no external examinations before the Year 6 Exhibition. For a parent judging value, the honest position at this stage is that most children need no paid tutoring at all, and the ones who do need it briefly and specifically rather than continuously.

Primary enquiries from Remraam's newer blocks are usually about reading. The cheapest effective answer is volume of reading at the correct level, which costs nothing but needs the level identified properly. One session to establish that, followed by a library habit, outperforms a term of paid comprehension work for most children.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The subject notes below name the specific, drillable weakness in each case, because a narrow target is what makes a small number of paid hours worth buying.

IGCSE Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended · Pearson 4MA1

The final third of each paper combines topics. Harvesting method marks from a correct opening line, instead of abandoning the question, is worth several marks a paper and takes about three sessions to establish as a habit.

IGCSE Chemistry

Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1

Qualitative analysis results are pure recall and can be drilled to automaticity in two or three sessions. Moles arithmetic under time takes longer. Electrolysis products are a small, closed set worth memorising outright rather than reasoning out each time.

IGCSE Physics

Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1

Circuit questions reward reading the diagram before calculating, and the practical or alternative-to-practical paper rewards knowing named apparatus and method. Both are closed-list items, which makes them unusually cheap to fix compared with conceptual topics.

IGCSE Biology

Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1

Genetic crosses are procedural and highly scorable once the layout is fixed, usually within two sessions. Most marks go missing through omitted gamete rows or a ratio the question asked for and the student did not state.

IGCSE Mathematics, Core tier

Cambridge 0580 Core

Worth treating separately because the tier caps the grade at C. If there is a case for moving to Extended it must be made with evidence early in Year 10, not argued in Year 11, and that case is itself a worthwhile reason to book a diagnostic hour.

IGCSE English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

Often the right entry for multilingual households, and frequently cheaper to improve than first-language English because the assessment is more procedural. Marks turn on following the directed-writing instruction exactly, including register and audience.

IGCSE Business Studies

Cambridge 0450 · Pearson 4BS1

Application to the named business in the insert is where the marks are. Definitions earn one each. This is a subject where a student can gain several grades from technique alone without learning any new content, which makes it a good target for limited hours.

IGCSE Accounting

Cambridge 0452

Highly procedural: the layouts are fixed and the marks follow them. Students lose marks on presentation conventions rather than on understanding, and presentation conventions are the cheapest thing in the subject to teach.

Diploma Economics

HL and SL

Paper 1 is decided by diagram accuracy, which is a closed skill: labelled axes, a marked new equilibrium, shaded welfare areas. HL Paper 3 is arithmetically simple and interpretively hard. Targeted diagram work is a small number of hours with a visible return.

Diploma Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Calculator-permitted throughout, with statistics and modelling carrying the weight. The recurring loss is interpretation: correct output, no statement of what it means in context. That is a writing habit, taught in a handful of sessions.

Diploma internal assessment supervision

All subjects, SL and HL

Worth buying as a short block at each deadline rather than as weekly contact. The highest-value hours are spent on the research question before any writing starts, because a vague question cannot be rescued by effort later.

Arabic as an additional language

KHDA mandatory stream, all year groups

Mandatory alongside the licensed curriculum in every Dubai private school and taught in separate classes for non-Arabs. Support uses the school's own material, since different or additional content requires prior Ministry of Education permission.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

The three formats below are the ones that make sense on a defined budget. All are delivered online over live video, which removes the travel component from the price entirely.

The single diagnostic hour

One session, bought on its own, in which a specialist marks a real piece of your child's work against the official criteria and tells you what they found. No teaching, no plan, no commitment. It is the highest-value purchase available in this market because it frequently establishes that two of the three subjects you were worried about share one fixable cause.

  • One hour, bought standalone, no package attached
  • An unseen paper or a marked school assessment
  • A plain written statement of the diagnosis
  • Often reduces rather than increases what you need to buy

Weekly single-subject work

One sixty-minute session a week in one subject, on the exact syllabus code the school entered the child for. Between sessions the student does the practice and the tutor reads the marked outcome. This is the standard arrangement and it works, provided the subject chosen is the one where an hour moves the mark fastest rather than the one that worries the parent most.

  • Board, code and tier confirmed before session one
  • Past-paper work from the correct series, marked live
  • Written task set after each session, checked at the next
  • Reviewed against marks every six to eight weeks

The eight-week exam-run block

Bought as a fixed block before a series, usually two sessions a week for eight weeks, entirely on timed papers marked live. It suits a student whose content is largely secure and whose technique is not, which is the most common profile in Year 11. It has a defined start, a defined end and a predictable total cost.

  • Fixed number of sessions, quoted as a block
  • Timed conditions, marked against official criteria
  • Error log reviewed at the start of each session
  • Ends when the series starts; no rolling renewal

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Remraam

01

What a Remraam parent should pay for, and what is already theirs

Before comparing tutors it is worth separating the things that genuinely require paying someone from the things a family already has access to. The tutoring market blurs this deliberately, because a package sounds more substantial when it includes items that were never scarce. For a family searching for IB and IGCSE tutors in Remraam on a real budget, that separation is the most useful thing on this page.

Start with the school. Past-paper access, mark schemes, subject guides, the examinations officer's knowledge of entry codes and deadlines, predicted-grade conversations, departmental revision sessions and in many cases after-school clinics all sit inside the school and are included in fees already paid. The examinations officer is also the only reliable source for which syllabus code and tier your child is actually entered for, and that single piece of information determines whether any tutoring you buy is aimed at the right paper.

Then the student's own work. Timed practice, honest self-marking, an error log and reading the set text are not purchasable. A tutor can enforce them, structure them and check them, which is real value, but the hours themselves have to be done by the student and no fee substitutes. A provider promising progress without the student's independent work is selling a story.

What genuinely requires paying for is expertise the family does not have: someone who knows the specification well enough to diagnose precisely, who can mark against the real criteria rather than a parent's impression, and who can teach the specific technique that is costing marks. That is a narrow and valuable thing, and it is worth buying properly rather than diluting across four subjects.

02

What each AED band actually buys in this market

The advertised range across Dubai is AED 33 to AED 650 an hour, and the language used to describe the work is nearly identical at both ends. That is the central problem for a price-sensitive family: the market does not explain what the difference is. The bands below come from providers' own published pages and from Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table, read in October 2026, and the fourth column is the part nobody publishes.

At the bottom, Tutopiya advertises from AED 33 to 52 and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65. At that price the tutor is typically a university student working from a textbook. For supervised homework or primary reading practice that can be adequate and honest value. For Higher Level Diploma content or IGCSE paper technique it is not, because the person does not know the mark scheme and cannot diagnose.

In the middle, Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200, which is the band for a qualified subject tutor working online. The important question at this level is not qualification but specification: a competent chemistry graduate who has never taught Cambridge 0620 will teach good chemistry aimed at the wrong paper. Ask which board and which code they have actually taught.

At the top, TutorChase publishes AED 270 and BartyED AED 650, and in-home visits run AED 180 to AED 500 with travel priced in. Above roughly AED 450 you are generally paying for scarcity or for a claimed examiner background, and examiner claims are worth verifying independently rather than accepting. Nobody should imply that examiner status gives access to marking, boundaries or paper content, because it does not.

03

One subject properly beats four subjects thinly

  • Weekly beats fortnightly because the seven-day task cycle is the mechanism
  • Prioritise closed-list, drillable weaknesses: they convert hours into marks fastest
  • Deprioritise subjects where the gap is unread text
  • If one cause is costing marks in several subjects, it is one purchase, not four

A family with a fixed budget faces a real allocation decision, and the instinct is to spread it. Four subjects at one session a fortnight each feels responsible and produces nothing measurable, because a fortnightly session has no continuity, sets no enforceable practice and cannot build a technique habit. The alternative, one subject weekly for a term, looks neglectful and is far more likely to move a grade.

The reason is that marks move through accumulated practice, not through contact hours. A weekly session works because it creates a seven-day cycle: task set, task done, task marked, next task set. Break that cycle to a fortnight and the student stops doing the task, because nothing is due. At that point the session becomes a conversation about the subject, which is pleasant and worthless.

Choosing which subject gets the slot should be done on marks-per-hour grounds rather than on anxiety. Subjects with narrow, drillable, closed-list weaknesses respond fastest: qualitative analysis results in Chemistry, genetic-cross layout in Biology, apparatus recall for the practical paper in Physics, diagram accuracy in Economics, layout conventions in Accounting, application to the named business in Business Studies. Each of those can be fixed in a small number of hours and each is worth several marks.

The subjects to deprioritise on a tight budget are the ones where the limiting factor is the student's own reading. If the set text for English Literature has not been read properly, no tutor can substitute for reading it, and paying someone to discuss a book the student has not read is the clearest waste available in this market. The honest advice there is to use the budget elsewhere and put the recovered hours into the text.

04

The resit and entry routes, and what they cost in time

A Year 11 family on a budget needs to understand the series structure before deciding how hard to push for a particular sitting, because a resit is sometimes the cheaper and calmer option and sometimes not available in the window they assume. The deadlines are also much earlier than parents expect, which turns a planning question into a closed door if it is left late.

Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October — Checkpoint is a lower-secondary diagnostic rather than an IGCSE sitting, and a family that budgets around it buys tutoring for the wrong year entirely. The two real series behave differently on money as well as on dates: a June candidate's intensive block has to be paid for across the winter and spring, because entries close in the spring term and results do not arrive until August, while a November candidate buys a block in September and October and then waits until January for the outcome. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, noting that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one.

Pearson Edexcel runs International GCSE in May or June and again in November. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables for both International GCSE series a year or more in advance and then revises them without notice, so the live official PDF is the only version worth planning around.

IB session dates are deliberately absent from this page. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so nothing here is confirmed from the IB itself. UAE schools sit the May session; the exact window should come from the school's IB coordinator or from ibo.org, and a revision plan should not be fixed until it has.

What a mark actually converts to, and why that changes the plan

  • Boundaries are set per series after marking; nobody knows them in advance
  • Two properly marked past papers tell you the gap in marks, which is the usable number
  • A small gap is usually technique: an eight-week block, high return
  • A large gap is content: consider a later series or a tier conversation before spending

Parents reasonably assume that a few more marks produce a better grade, and sometimes that is true in a way that changes everything and sometimes it changes nothing. A student sitting two marks below a boundary and a student sitting fifteen marks below it are in completely different positions, and the sensible spend differs accordingly. This is the part of the calculation that nobody explains, because explaining it occasionally argues against buying tutoring.

The structural point is that grade boundaries are set per series after marking, so no boundary can be known in advance. What is knowable is roughly where a student currently sits on recent papers, how many marks separate them from the next band, and which questions in the paper are reliably available to them. Those three facts are obtainable from marking two past papers properly, which is an hour of a specialist's time rather than a term of it.

From there the plan follows arithmetic. A student a few marks short usually needs technique rather than content: method marks they are not collecting, command terms they are misreading, or a question type they are skipping. That is an eight-week block and the return is high. A student fifteen or twenty marks short needs content, which is a longer and more expensive proposition, and the honest conversation includes whether a later series or a tier change is the better use of the money.

Anyone quoting you a specific boundary, a predicted score or a guaranteed outcome is not working from available information. Boundaries vary by series, and no provider has access to them in advance. Treat a specific promise about a final grade as a signal about the provider.

06

The risk at the cheap end, and the permit question

  • Ask which board and code the tutor has actually taught, not what they studied
  • The MoHRE permit is free and valid two years; there is no cost reason to lack one
  • No published fine schedule exists, so ignore quoted amounts
  • Feedback on the student's own draft is permitted; supplied text never is

Buying at the bottom of the market is a reasonable decision for some tasks and a bad one for others, and the risks are specific rather than vague. The first is specification mismatch: a tutor who does not know whether your child sits Cambridge 0620 or Pearson 4CH1 will teach competent chemistry aimed at the wrong paper, and neither you nor the student will notice for weeks. The second is the internal assessment, where an inexperienced tutor can stray across the academic honesty line without intending to, and the consequence lands on the student.

The third risk is legal and easy to check. Individuals providing private tuition in the UAE need a private tuition work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. The permit is granted free of charge for two years, so cost is not a reason for a tutor not to hold one. Eligible categories include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time.

Those providing private tuition without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so any figure quoted to you, including amounts circulating online, is unverified and should not influence your decision. A separate requirement applies to anyone operating a tutoring business with premises and staff in Dubai, who needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, renewed annually with the request made at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram has no Dubai premises and holds no such permit.

On honesty, the line is worth stating plainly because one provider in this market sells completed Internal Assessments outright. A tutor may teach method, narrow a research question, explain criteria, and give criterion-referenced feedback on a draft the student has produced. A tutor may not supply sentences, rewrite a draft, provide data the student did not gather, or produce any part of a submission. The student signs the authenticity declaration, and buying a finished piece buys them an expulsion risk.

07

The regulator, the inspection report and what it is worth to you

Dubai's private schools are overseen by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. KHDA inspects annually and publishes a judgement on six bands from Outstanding to Very Weak. Elsewhere the map differs: ADEK covers Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the Sharjah Private Education Authority covers Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah's Department of Knowledge covers that emirate, and the federal Ministry of Education supervises Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.

For a family weighing money rather than prestige, the inspection report has one practical use. It is free to read, and it contains subject and phase level judgements rather than only a headline band. A Remraam parent deciding whether a weak Physics position is the school's problem or their child's can look at the published judgement for that phase and subject and get a partial answer at no cost, which is more than most paid consultations provide.

What the band does not tell you is anything about your child. Schools rated Outstanding contain students who are failing and schools rated Good produce top grades. The inspection measures the institution. The only measure of your child is their own marked work, which is why a diagnostic hour is worth more than a school's reputation when deciding where to spend.

It also bears on claims. No tutoring provider should be described as approved by a regulator unless it holds the specific permit in question. The KHDA Educational Services Permit applies to training institutes with premises, not to individual online tutors, and a provider implying regulator endorsement is making a claim worth checking before you pay them anything.

08

Spending the budget in the right order

  • Step one costs nothing: get the code and tier from the examinations officer
  • Step two is one diagnostic hour; it frequently reduces the total spend
  • Step five, the timed-paper block, is where most measurable movement happens
  • Every block has an endpoint and ends there unless there is evidence to continue

The sequence matters as much as the total. Families who spend in the wrong order routinely pay more for less, because the first purchase determines whether the rest are aimed correctly. The order below is the one that produces the most marks per dirham for a Year 11 student in this community, and it starts with something very cheap.

First, confirm the board, syllabus code and tier with the school's examinations officer. This costs nothing and is the single most consequential piece of information in the process. Second, buy one diagnostic hour with a specialist in that exact specification, who marks a real piece of work against the real criteria. Third, read the diagnosis and decide which single subject gets the weekly slot. Fourth, run that weekly slot for a term with the student doing the between-session work.

Fifth, eight to ten weeks before the series, convert to timed-paper work. This is the point at which most of the measurable movement happens, and it is wasted if it starts too late or if content is still missing. Sixth, review against marks and stop when the goal is met. Blocks of work should have an endpoint and should end there rather than rolling into an open arrangement nobody has reassessed.

The thing not to do is start at step four with four subjects and no diagnosis, which is what most families are sold. It costs the most, aims at nothing in particular, and produces a term of activity that cannot be evaluated. A free trial session is available before any commitment, with its length and conditions stated at the time of booking, and it is a reasonable way to test whether a tutor can actually do step two.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Remraam

Remraam sits among the Dubailand communities along Al Qudra Road, and the differences that matter to a tutoring decision are price point and school distance.

South View School

Not a community but the school closest to Remraam, which gives some families here a genuinely short run while their neighbours in Town Square commute much further. A short run means earlier sessions and more of them available in a week.

Mudon

Townhouses and villas a short way along Al Qudra Road, with a younger average cohort and more primary-stage enquiries. Mudon Views apartments are the part of that community whose profile most resembles Remraam's.

Town Square

Dense townhouse stock with no secondary school inside it, so evening sessions there start later than in Remraam. Families in both communities often use the same schools in Motor City and Dubai Investments Park.

DAMAC Hills 2

Further out on the Al Qudra side with a longer bus run in most directions. Families there pay the largest travel premium of any community in this belt if they choose an in-home tutor, which is an argument for the online format.

Dubai Investments Park

Greenfield International School and Durham School Dubai sit here and take students from Remraam. Greenfield's IB continuum means a Remraam child can sit the Diploma without a long relocation at sixteen.

Dubailand inner communities

The Aquila School and the surrounding residential clusters. This corridor runs counter to the main afternoon flow, so arrival times back into Remraam are more predictable than on the northern routes.

Arabian Ranches

Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches and Ranches Primary School, on a longer and busier route. Remraam families choosing these schools accept a later evening and usually move to weekend sessions in exam years.

Motor City

GEMS Metropole School and GEMS Metropole Al Waha, reached via the Hessa Street approach that slows at pickup. This is the route where arrival times vary most, which matters when you are buying a small number of sessions and cannot afford to miss one.

Schools in the Motor City, Dubai Sports City and Arabian Ranches belt, reached on routes that slow considerably at afternoon pickup. Families on these routes tend to concentrate paid sessions at weekends in exam years, which changes the shape of the budget.

  • GEMS Metropole Al Waha
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • Bradenton Preparatory Academy
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches

Schools are listed as local context so parents can identify the board and timetable their child is actually on. IB Gram has no affiliation with any school named.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Get the code and tier before you spend anything

Ask the school's examinations officer which board, syllabus code and tier your child is entered for. It costs nothing, takes one email, and determines whether every dirham you spend afterwards is aimed at the right paper. Families who skip this step are the ones who discover in March that they practised the wrong paper format.

  2. 02

    Buy one diagnostic hour, standalone

A specialist in that exact specification marks a real piece of your child's work against the official criteria and reports what they found. No package, no commitment. This often collapses a three-subject worry into one subject plus a shared technique problem, which reduces the total you need to spend rather than increasing it.

  3. 03

Allocate the slot on marks-per-hour grounds

Put the weekly session where a paid hour converts into marks fastest, which usually means a closed-list, drillable weakness rather than the subject that worries you most. We will say when a subject is a poor use of a scarce slot, including when the real gap is reading the student has not done.

  4. 04

Run it weekly, with the student doing the work

One sixty-minute session a week creates a seven-day cycle of task set, task done, task marked. Fortnightly breaks that cycle and the student stops doing the task. The tutor's job between sessions is to read the marked outcome, so the next lesson responds to evidence rather than to a scheme.

  5. 05

Convert to timed papers, then stop

Eight to ten weeks out, the work becomes timed papers marked live with an error log carried between sessions. The block has a defined end at the start of the series. Review against marks every six to eight weeks, and if they have not moved, change the diagnosis or the tutor rather than buying more of the same.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Prices published, with sources and dates

Every AED figure on this page names the provider that publishes it and the month it was read, and the table says what each band does not give you. Three of the pages competing for this search publish no price at all, and one asks the question in its own FAQ and declines to answer it.

No travel premium

Lessons run one to one over live video, so the AED 180 to AED 500 band for in-home visits does not apply. IB Gram does not operate home visits in Dubai; that service exists only in India. For a community this far out, removing travel removes a real part of the price.

Diagnosis sold on its own

A single diagnostic hour can be bought standalone, without a package attached, because it is the purchase most likely to reduce what you need. A provider who will only sell it inside a term commitment is answering a different question from the one you asked.

Matched to a code and a tier

Cambridge 0620 and Pearson 4CH1 are different papers, and the Cambridge Core tier caps the grade at C. The board, the code and the tier are confirmed before anyone teaches anything, because the alternative is competent teaching aimed at the wrong assessment.

Blocks that end

Transition work and exam-run intensives are quoted as a fixed number of sessions with a finishing point, and they finish there. Nothing rolls into an open arrangement that nobody has reassessed, which is how tutoring budgets quietly double.

Honest about what tutoring cannot do

No grade is promised, by us or by anyone working from available information, because boundaries are set per series after marking. We will also tell you when the cheapest effective answer is reading volume, school revision sessions or a later series rather than paid hours.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Remraam: your questions answered

What is the cheapest thing that actually improves an IGCSE grade?+

One diagnostic hour with a specialist in your child's exact specification, who marks a real piece of work against the official criteria. It costs AED 200 to 450 at Dubai market rates and frequently collapses a three-subject worry into one subject plus a shared technique problem, which reduces the total you spend. After that, the cheapest effective purchases are closed-list fixes: qualitative analysis results in Chemistry, genetic-cross layout in Biology, apparatus recall for the practical paper, economics diagram accuracy. Each is a small number of hours and worth several marks.

Why is the Dubai tutoring rate range so wide?+

Because the market describes very different work in identical language. Published Dubai rates run from AED 33 an hour to AED 650, read in October 2026. At the bottom, Tutopiya advertises from AED 33 to 52 and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65, which typically buys a university student working from a textbook. In the middle, Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200 for a qualified subject tutor. At the top, TutorChase publishes AED 270 and BartyED AED 650. The deciding question is not qualification but which board and code the tutor has taught.

Should a Remraam family pay for past papers and mark schemes?+

No. Those sit with the school and the examinations officer, accessed through the boards' own portals, and they are covered by fees already paid. A provider charging for board material is charging for something they should not be distributing: boards hold copyright in syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables, and for unreleased material redistribution is a malpractice exposure as well as a copyright one. A tutor should reference and link official material, and spend your paid hours on diagnosis and technique instead.

Is one session a week in one subject better than a fortnightly session in four?+

Considerably better, and the reason is mechanical rather than philosophical. A weekly session creates a seven-day cycle: task set, task done, task marked, next task set. At fortnightly intervals the student stops doing the task because nothing is due soon, and the session degrades into a conversation about the subject. Spread across four subjects at that frequency it produces activity you cannot evaluate. Choose the subject where a paid hour converts into marks fastest and run it weekly for a term.

How much is an in-home tutor likely to cost out in this part of Dubailand?+

Dubai market rates read in October 2026 put in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to AED 500 an hour including travel, with Bestimate's 2026 table showing AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors advertising AED 200 to 500. Monthly in-home packages of AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits appear in the market. Remraam is far enough out that travel is a substantial part of that number, and the tutor you can get is selected by willingness to drive rather than by subject. IB Gram's UAE lessons are online, so the premium does not apply.

My child is a few marks off a grade. Is tutoring worth it at that point?+

Usually yes, and this is the best case in the whole market. A student a few marks short typically has a technique problem rather than a content one: method marks not being collected, command terms misread, or a question type being skipped. An eight-week block of timed papers marked live addresses exactly that and has a high return. A student fifteen or twenty marks short is a content case, which is longer and more expensive, and the honest conversation includes whether a later series or a tier change is better value.

Can anyone tell me the grade boundary in advance?+

No, and anyone who offers to is not working from available information. Boundaries are set per series after marking has taken place, so they vary and cannot be known beforehand. What is knowable is where your child currently sits on recent papers, how many marks separate them from the next band, and which questions are reliably available to them. Marking two past papers properly produces those three facts, which is an hour of specialist time. Treat a specific promise about a final grade as information about the provider rather than about your child.

When do we have to decide about a November resit?+

Earlier than most families expect, because entries go through the school months ahead of the papers. Cambridge runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series, and the November sitting is the usual resit route, which means an intensive block falls in September and October. Pearson Edexcel runs International GCSE in May or June and November, with its November 2026 final timetable running from late October to 19 November 2026 and November results reaching students in January, as on 22 January 2026. Ask the examinations officer for the entry deadline the moment results arrive.

Does the Cambridge timetable really differ by zone?+

Yes, and it matters. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong version. For a family planning a revision schedule that means printing the zone-correct official timetable rather than the first one a search returns. The school's examinations officer knows which zone the centre sits in, and confirming it takes one message.

Is a cheap tutor a false economy for Diploma coursework?+

It carries a specific risk rather than merely being poor value. An inexperienced tutor can stray across the academic honesty line without intending to, by tidying a paragraph or suggesting a sentence, and the consequence lands on the student who signed the authenticity declaration. The permitted work is teaching method, narrowing the research question, explaining each criterion in its own language, and giving criterion-referenced feedback on a draft the student wrote. Supplied text, rewriting, supplied data and any part of the submission are not permitted at any price.

Does a tutor in Dubai have to hold a permit, and would it raise their price?+

They need a private tuition work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and it is granted free of charge for two years, so it is not a reason for a higher rate. Eligible categories include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. MoHRE's service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Tutoring without a permit attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, with no published schedule.

Can the KHDA inspection report help us decide where to spend?+

Partly, and it is free to read, which makes it good value on its own terms. KHDA inspects Dubai private schools annually and publishes judgements across six bands from Outstanding to Very Weak, with subject and phase level detail underneath the headline. If your child's Physics position looks weak, the published judgement for that phase and subject gives you a partial answer about whether it is institutional or individual. What it cannot tell you is anything about your child specifically, which is what a diagnostic hour is for.

What if our budget only stretches to a handful of sessions?+

Then spend them in this order. Confirm the code and tier with the examinations officer at no cost. Buy one diagnostic hour. Use the remaining sessions on the single narrowest, most drillable weakness the diagnosis identified, as close to the series as is useful without being too late to practise. Four well-aimed hours on qualitative analysis, cross layout or diagram accuracy will outperform twelve unfocused ones. We will tell you if the honest answer is that your sessions are better spent in a different subject than the one you asked about.

Are the school's own revision sessions worth using before paying for tutoring?+

Yes, and they should be used first. Departmental revision sessions, after-school clinics, subject guides and the examinations officer's knowledge of codes and deadlines are all included in fees already paid. Use them, see what they leave uncovered, and buy only that. The specific things they usually cannot provide are one-to-one diagnosis against the criteria and sustained individual marking of your child's scripts, because a teacher with a full class cannot work at that resolution. That is the narrow gap worth paying to fill.

Is there a trial before we commit any money?+

Yes. A free trial session is available before any commitment, with its length and conditions stated at the time of booking rather than discovered later. The useful way to use it, particularly on a budget, is as the diagnostic step: ask the tutor to mark a real piece of your child's work against the official criteria and explain what they found. If they can do that convincingly, they know the specification. If they talk about motivation instead, you have learned something equally useful at no cost.

Start with the cheapest step, not the biggest one

Email the school's examinations officer for your child's board, syllabus code and tier. It costs nothing and makes every later decision aimable. Then send us that code, the year group and the two or three topics where marks are going, and we will match a specialist in that exact specification for one diagnostic hour over live video. The diagnosis quite often reduces what you need to buy rather than increasing it. If the honest answer is that your money is better spent elsewhere, or that a later series is the sensible route, we will say so.
