IB Physics Tutor in Remraam

Families asking about an IB physics tutor in Remraam are often comparing more than they say: Diploma physics against the A Level their neighbour's child is taking, Higher Level against Standard, and one subject combination against another for an engineering application. This page sets those comparisons out with the detail that decides them. Lessons reach Remraam one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; IB Gram does not send tutors to UAE addresses.

IB & IGCSE in Remraam

Three comparisons sit underneath one question about physics

A physics enquiry from this corridor usually carries three unspoken comparisons. The first is between systems: a Diploma student's parents watching a neighbour take three A Levels and wondering whether six subjects plus a core is the harder bargain. The second is between levels, Higher against Standard, usually framed as difficulty when the real variable is load. The third is between combinations, because physics is rarely chosen alone and what it is paired with decides what it opens.

Those comparisons matter because physics is a gateway subject. Engineering and the physical sciences expect it, often at Higher Level and usually alongside a particular mathematics route, and a combination assembled without checking can close doors quietly. The checking belongs with each university's own published entry profile rather than with general advice, and it should happen in Year 11 rather than in Year 13.

Remraam shapes the practical side. It is a low-rise apartment community in Dubailand, built as the Al Thamam and Al Ramth clusters with its own park and retail, reached from Al Qudra Road and Emirates Road. South View School sits close by and takes students through Year 11, so Diploma students have generally moved outward to Dubai Hills, Al Barsha South or The Sustainable City, which means a longer afternoon and a shorter evening than their IGCSE years allowed.

It also shapes supply. The tutors advertising along this corridor are based around Dubai Investment Park, Dubai Sports City and Motor City, and most of them work across several sciences at IGCSE level with Diploma physics as an extension. Higher Level physics is one of the thinnest specialisms in any tutoring market, which is the practical argument for choosing by level and option rather than by distance.

There is a fourth comparison that nobody frames as one, and it costs real money: the option topic. Schools choose which option to teach in physics, so two Diploma students in Dubai can sit the same core and entirely different option questions. A revision guide bought online, a group class assembled from several schools, or a tutor who was never told the option can all end up preparing material the student will never be examined on. One message to the department settles it, and almost nobody sends it.

Delivery is one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, so a session can sit early or after eight depending on the household. The experiment stays with the school and its laboratory, which this page states rather than skirts. Home visits are a service IB Gram runs in India only, and nothing here should be read as an offer to arrive at a Remraam address. Each of the four comparisons gets its own section below, with a table where the detail justifies one.

At a glance

  • Physics is a gateway subject and its pairing decides what it opens
  • Higher against Standard Level is a load question more than a difficulty one
  • University requirements belong to each institution's published entry profile
  • Higher Level physics is among the thinnest tutoring specialisms anywhere
  • Market rates for a qualified online subject tutor in Dubai run roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour (Unitors)
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three physics contexts arrive from this corridor, and the comparison between them is most of what families want explained.

DP HLAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Physics Higher Level

Core content plus the Higher Level extensions in fields, electromagnetic induction and the quantum and nuclear material, examined across several papers alongside the scientific investigation. Breadth is greater than an A Level and depth in any single topic is often slightly less.

This is the level engineering and physical-science applications generally expect, and students from this corridor taking it are usually also taking Analysis and Approaches. The two reinforce each other, which is an argument for pairing them with one tutor where the match allows.

DP SLAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Physics Standard Level

The core without the Higher Level extensions, across fewer papers. The question styles are identical to Higher Level, so technique demands do not reduce even as content does, which surprises students who dropped a level expecting relief.

A reasonable third science for students heading towards economics, business or architecture, and a common pairing with Applications and Interpretation. It will not satisfy most engineering entry requirements, which is the point to check before choosing it.

A LEVELAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

A Level Physics, for comparison

Three or four subjects studied in greater depth, with no equivalent of the Diploma core and usually a smaller internal component. Narrower and deeper, with mathematical demand concentrated rather than distributed.

Several schools within reach of Remraam run A Levels rather than the Diploma, which is why families here compare the two directly. Both are accepted by universities worldwide; the choice is about how a particular student works rather than about status.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the subjects physics is most often paired with from this corridor, with the specific reason each pairing matters for an application.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics, thermal physics, waves, electricity, fields and nuclear, plus a school-chosen option. Extended responses lose marks to unstated assumptions, and practical questions to methods a reader could not repeat.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The pairing engineering courses generally expect alongside physics. Calculus and vectors reappear in mechanics and fields, so the two can be taught through each other rather than separately.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

A workable pairing for architecture and some applied routes, and a risky one for engineering, where Analysis is frequently specified. Check each institution's published entry profile before committing.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Paired with physics for chemical engineering and materials routes. Shares graphical and proportional reasoning, so a maths repair lifts both subjects at the same time.

Design Technology

HL and SL

Where offered, it reuses physics content on materials, forces and energy, and its coursework rewards the same explicit reasoning about why a decision was made.

Computer Science

HL and SL

A common third choice for engineering-bound students. Problem decomposition transfers in both directions, and the discrete mathematics overlaps with Applications at Higher Level.

Biology

HL and SL

Paired with physics occasionally for biomedical engineering routes. Shares the science-group investigation criteria exactly, so coursework coaching transfers without relearning the language.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

The natural sciences are the most used area of knowledge in these essays, and a physics student who understands falsifiability and model limits writes the contrast with less additional reading.

Extended Essay in physics

Core

A demanding choice because the measurement has to be feasible with school equipment. Most weak physics essays ask a question the available apparatus could never answer.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three physics formats, chosen from the comparison the family is actually making. All are delivered over live video.

Choice and combination session

One or two sessions in Year 11 on the combination itself: which physics level, which mathematics route, and what the universities actually being considered publish as entry requirements. Deliberately sold as a short engagement.

  • Entry profiles read from each institution's own pages
  • Load across the chosen combination assessed honestly
  • The school's own subject availability confirmed first
  • No obligation to book anything further

Bridging block into Diploma physics

Six to eight sessions across the summer after Year 11 on what the first term assumes and does not teach: rearrangement at speed, standard form, logarithms, vector components and the habit of justifying rather than stating.

  • Mathematical prerequisites drilled separately from physics
  • Justification practised as a written habit
  • Pitched at the level the student is entering
  • No competing homework during the block

Weekly technique and investigation support

A term-time session split between extended-response construction and whichever component is live, with the investigation handled as feedback on the student's own draft against published criteria.

  • Extended responses planned before being written
  • Uncertainty propagation worked on the student's own data
  • Option-specific questions from the school's actual choice
  • No drafting, rewriting or supply of text or data

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Remraam

01

IGCSE physics into Diploma physics, mapped

The step from IGCSE physics into either Diploma level is larger than the grade at sixteen suggests, and it is larger in specific ways that can be prepared for. Content is the smallest part of it. The three real changes are mathematical demand, the expectation of justification rather than statement, and the arrival of a substantial internally assessed investigation with published criteria.

The mathematical change is the one that catches students from this corridor, who generally sat IGCSE locally and then moved schools. IGCSE physics rewards recall and single-step calculation. Diploma physics assumes rearrangement is automatic, uses standard form constantly, introduces logarithms in the nuclear and quantum material, and asks repeatedly for a gradient to be converted into a physical quantity with units. A student who was comfortable at IGCSE and slow at algebra will feel competent for a term and then stop coping.

The justification change is cultural. An IGCSE answer often earns full marks for stating what happens. A Diploma extended response wants the physics named, the assumption stated and the steps connected, and students carry the IGCSE habit forward for months without anyone identifying it as the problem. It reads as a content gap and is not.

The investigation is new in kind. Nothing at IGCSE prepares a student for being marked on design and evaluation against descriptors rather than on whether an experiment produced a tidy result, and the earlier they read those descriptors, the better the first attempt goes.

02

Diploma physics against A Level physics

Both qualifications are accepted by universities worldwide and the choice is about the student rather than about status. The structural difference is that the Diploma asks for six subjects plus a core while A Levels ask for three or four studied further, and physics sits inside those two shapes quite differently.

In the Diploma, physics is one of six commitments and carries an internal investigation alongside its papers, so a student is managing breadth, a coursework deadline in every subject, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge simultaneously. In A Levels, physics is one of three or four, usually with a smaller internal element, and the student has more hours per subject and far fewer parallel deadlines.

The consequence is temperamental rather than academic. A student who manages competing deadlines well and dislikes narrowing at sixteen is better served by the Diploma. A student who works deeply on fewer things and struggles to juggle is often better served by A Levels, and choosing the Diploma for its reputation while being the second kind of student is a predictable way to underperform.

On depth, A Level physics typically goes further in individual topics while Diploma physics covers more ground and distributes the mathematical demand. Neither is a disadvantage at university entry, but it does change what preparation looks like: A Level students need depth drilling, Diploma students need breadth retention and a plan for the internal component.

One practical note for families comparing locally. Several schools within reach of this corridor run A Levels after Year 11 while others run the Diploma, so the choice is often made at the same time as a school choice rather than separately. That bundling obscures the question, and it is worth separating the two decisions explicitly before either is made.

03

Subject combinations compared for engineering and the sciences

Physics is almost never the decisive subject on its own. What decides an engineering or physical-science application is the combination, and the combination is assembled in Year 11 by students who have not yet looked at an entry profile. That sequence is backwards and it is easy to fix.

The combination most competitive engineering courses expect is physics and mathematics at Higher Level, with Analysis and Approaches rather than Applications and Interpretation as the mathematics route. Substituting Applications is where students most often discover a problem after offers are published, because some institutions specify the route and not merely the level. Equally, Physics at Standard Level will not satisfy most engineering requirements however strong the grade.

For chemical engineering and materials, chemistry joins the pair. For architecture the picture is more permissive and Applications is often acceptable. For biomedical routes, biology enters and the physics requirement is sometimes relaxed. None of these generalisations should be relied on, because requirements differ by country and institution and change between cycles.

The useful action is narrow and free. List the five or six universities genuinely under consideration, read each one's published entry profile for the specific course, and write down what it says about level and route. Do that with the school's careers office before subject choices are confirmed, and the combination becomes a decision rather than an accident.

Load is the other half of the combination question. A student who assembles the most demanding possible set to keep every door open can end up performing moderately across all of it, which closes more doors than a slightly narrower set performed well. That trade is worth making consciously in Year 11, with the school, rather than discovering it in the autumn of the final year.

04

Higher against Standard Level: a load question

  • Higher Level is more content and an extra paper, not a harder style of question
  • A technique problem travels with a student who drops a level
  • Dropping helps where total load across three Higher Level subjects is the issue
  • Ask the department for its own level-change deadline in writing

The level question is usually asked as difficulty and is better answered as load. Higher Level physics covers additional content and examines an extra paper, and it is the level most engineering and physical-science applications expect. Standard Level covers the core across fewer papers. Those are facts about quantity and about doors, not about whether the examination is gentler.

The part families misjudge is that the question styles are identical. Standard Level is not an easier form of assessment on narrower content; it is the same form of assessment on narrower content. A student losing marks to unstated assumptions in extended response will lose them at either level, which means dropping a level does not solve a technique problem and should not be sold as if it does.

Where dropping genuinely helps is total load. A student carrying three Higher Level sciences, or Higher Level physics alongside Higher Level mathematics and chemistry, is carrying three content loads and three internal investigations on overlapping deadlines. That combination defeats capable students, and doing two of them well is a better outcome than doing three adequately.

Timing matters as much as the decision. A level change is practical early in Year 12 and in some schools becomes impossible once the second year begins because teaching groups diverge. If the question is live, ask the department for its own deadline in writing and for the evidence it would want to see either way.

There is one more consideration that is rarely raised. Dropping a level mid-course changes the teaching group and sometimes the teacher, and for a student who was coping socially rather than academically that disruption has its own cost. It is still often the right decision, and it is better made deliberately with the department than as a reaction to one bad report.

05

What the school's option choice changes

  • Schools choose the option, so two Dubai students sit different option questions
  • Published revision guides may cover an option the student never sits
  • Mixed-school group classes cannot teach any single option
  • The department's apparatus constrains what an investigation can attempt

Schools choose which option topic to teach in physics, which means two Diploma physics students in Dubai can sit the same core content and entirely different option questions. Families rarely know this, and it quietly wastes revision time and money every year in this city.

The practical consequences are three. A revision guide bought online may cover an option the student will never be examined on. A group revision class assembled from several schools cannot teach the option at all, because the room contains more than one. And a tutor who has not been told the option will prepare the wrong material, which is a mistake nobody notices until a mock.

The fix costs one question at a parents' evening or one message to the department: which option are you teaching, and which paper does it appear in. Write the answer down and give it to anyone who sets work for the student. It is the single most useful administrative fact a Diploma physics family can hold.

The school also determines the practical programme, which constrains the investigation. A research question requiring apparatus the department does not own is a dead end regardless of its quality, and asking for the practical calendar early is the cheapest planning available in the subject. Both facts are reasons a tutoring enquiry should name the school as well as the level.

A related point concerns moving school mid-Diploma, which happens in this city. Two schools may teach different options, so a transferring student can arrive having studied content they will not be examined on and missing content they will. That is one of the few situations where a short, targeted block of tutoring is genuinely unavoidable, and it should be arranged before the move rather than after it.

06

Why Higher Level physics help is thin along this corridor

  • IB programmes were 7 per cent of Dubai private enrolment in 2024-25
  • Local advertisers cover several sciences broadly rather than one level deeply
  • Selecting by level and option replaces a geographic pool with a subject pool
  • Some option combinations remain thin and that is disclosed, not hidden

Higher Level physics is one of the thinnest specialisms in any tutoring market, and the reason is arithmetic rather than neglect. A tutor who teaches only Higher Level physics needs a large catchment of Diploma students to fill a week, and the Diploma is 7 per cent of Dubai private school enrolment against 37 per cent for the UK curriculum. Within Dubailand, where most schools run IGCSE and A Levels, the local pool is thinner still.

So the people advertising along this corridor, based around Dubai Investment Park, Dubai Sports City and Motor City, sensibly cover several sciences at IGCSE level and take Diploma physics as an extension. That is a reasonable business and a poor match for a student at a 4 in Physics Higher Level who needs somebody who knows what Paper 3 rewards and which option their school teaches.

Removing the distance filter changes the pool completely. Selecting by level and option means selecting from people who have taught the level repeatedly, wherever they happen to live, and the lesson arrives over video either way. For Standard Level the difference is smaller, because the content is narrower and more widely covered. For Higher Level it is the difference between a tutor who explains and a tutor who keeps pace.

The honest corollary is that coverage still has limits. Higher Level physics with a less common option, or physics paired with Further Mathematics, is thin everywhere, and where that applies a family should be told with a timescale rather than matched with a generalist and left to discover it.

07

What physics tuition costs across these comparisons

  • Specialist band: AED 200 to 450 and above (TutorChase 270; Bestimate 200-450+)
  • Qualified online band: AED 150 to 300 (Unitors IB from 200)
  • In-home band: AED 180 to 500, travel inside the quote
  • A choice and combination session is one or two hours, not a term

The comparisons on this page imply different purchases, and two of them are small. A choice and combination session in Year 11 is one or two hours. A summer bridging block is six to eight sessions. Term-time technique and investigation support is a weekly hour. Only the final-stretch work in Year 13 is a sustained twice-weekly commitment.

Physics sits at the specialist end of the published bands because credible Higher Level coverage is scarce. Named IB and IGCSE specialists publish roughly AED 200 to 450 an hour and above, with TutorChase at AED 270 and Bestimate's Dubai cost table giving AED 200 to 450 or more. Premium examiner-led provision reaches AED 500 to 650, with BartyED publishing AED 650.

Below that, a qualified subject tutor working online sits at roughly AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200. Budget online and university-student tutors advertise from around AED 45 to 150, with EdFlik at AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya at AED 33 to 52, which suits routine question practice rather than Higher Level technique. In-home visits are quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 with travel inside the price.

Monthly, Bestimate's estimates for a weekly hour run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. For household context, KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that Dubai private school fees would not rise for 2026-27. These are market figures with their sources named rather than IB Gram prices.

08

Permits, laboratories and coursework limits

  • The experiment belongs to the school; the write-up carries the marks
  • Permitted: physics teaching, criterion explanation, method critique, marking the student's own draft
  • Prohibited: drafting, rewriting, editing to completion, supplying data
  • MoHRE private tuition permit: free, two years, two working days to issue
  • IB Gram holds no KHDA permit and claims no regulator status

Three boundaries apply and all three are worth stating plainly. The first is the laboratory: an online tutor cannot run an experiment, and the practical belongs to the school, its equipment and its safety procedures. What a session does is interrogate the research question before the practical and examine the data, graph choice, uncertainty propagation and evaluation afterwards, which is where most of the criterion marks sit.

The second is coursework. The investigation is assessed and must be the student's own, authenticated by the teacher. A tutor may teach the physics, explain what each criterion rewards, say that a method will not produce usable data, and mark a draft the student wrote against the published descriptors. A tutor may not draft, rewrite, edit to completion, supply text or provide data the student did not collect, and the temptation to do the last of those is real when an experiment fails near a deadline.

The third is permits. An individual giving private lessons in the UAE needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years, covering registered school teachers, government and private sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's service listing shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time, and tutoring without it attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws with no published fine schedule.

A business with premises needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit instead, renewed annually. IB Gram has no UAE premises, holds no such permit, and does not use a regulator's name to describe its tutors. Board material stays with its publishers and is linked rather than circulated.

Nearby areas we cover around Remraam

Physics demand along this corridor follows the sixth forms each community feeds, and the A Level against Diploma comparison is live in all of them.

Mudon

Villas across Al Qudra Road with no school inside the community, so the physics enquiries from there carry the same comparisons and a longer afternoon.

Dubai Hills Estate

GEMS International School Al Khail and Kings' School Dubai Hills, where a Diploma route and an A Level route exist within a few minutes of each other.

The Sustainable City

Fairgreen International School runs the full continuum, so its students rarely face the A Level comparison and arrive fluent in Diploma assessment language.

Motor City

GEMS Metropole School runs British curriculum, so physics requests from there are often A Level rather than Diploma, and the local tutor pool reflects that.

Dubai Investment Park

Adjacent on the corridor and the base for several tutors advertising to Remraam, almost all working at IGCSE level rather than Higher Level Diploma.

Arabian Ranches 3

A young population, so most physics enquiries concern subject choice for Year 12 rather than rescue work in the second year.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say which comparison you are making

Choosing a combination in Year 11, deciding between levels, bridging from IGCSE, or rescuing a grade in Year 13. Those are four different conversations and two of them are short, so naming it saves everybody a session of discovery.

  2. 02

Name the level, the option and the school

The level decides the tutor, the option decides the material, and the school decides the practical calendar and the internal deadlines. Without the option, preparation for the relevant paper is a guess, and that guess is wrong half the time.

  3. 03

Bring the entry profiles, not general advice

For a combination conversation, list the five or six universities genuinely under consideration and bring what each one publishes for the specific course. Requirements differ by country and change between cycles, so no tutor should be the source of them.

  4. 04

Free trial lesson with a physics specialist

A trial over live video at no cost and before payment, with the student doing most of the talking. The test afterwards is whether the tutor named something specific, such as unstated assumptions in extended response or rearrangement failing under time.

  5. 05

Review by component, on a stated schedule

Session notes record the topic, the error pattern and the next target, and every four to six weeks the plan is checked against the investigation deadline and the component holding the remaining marks. Blocks carry a length rather than rolling indefinitely.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The comparisons are set out before anything is sold

Diploma against A Level, Higher against Standard, and one combination against another are the questions underneath most physics enquiries from this corridor. Answering them first sometimes means the right purchase is one session rather than a term.

Entry requirements come from the institution

Engineering courses often specify Analysis and Approaches rather than merely a maths level, and that varies by institution and changes. Those requirements are read from each university's own published course page with the school's careers office, never from a tutor.

The IGCSE step is mapped, not assumed

The jump is mostly mathematical demand, the shift from stating to justifying, and a new kind of internal assessment. All three can be prepared for in a summer block, and all three otherwise surface as apparent content weakness in the first mock.

The option topic is confirmed first

Schools choose the option, so two Dubai students sit different option questions. Preparing the wrong one wastes weeks and nobody notices until a mock, which is why the school name matters more than the postcode.

The laboratory limit is stated outright

Online lessons cannot run an experiment. They prepare the design and interrogate the analysis and evaluation, which hold most of the investigation's marks. Implying more would be the easiest sentence on this page and the least honest.

Thin coverage is disclosed with a timescale

Higher Level physics is among the scarcest specialisms anywhere, and some option combinations are thinner still. Where we cannot cover one well you are told, with an alternative or a timescale, rather than matched with a generalist.

“Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry past-paper practice made the difference. The tutor was honest about pace and progress, and the lesson notes were structured.”

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Remraam: your questions answered

Is Diploma physics harder than A Level physics?+

Different rather than harder. A Level physics typically goes deeper in individual topics; Diploma physics covers more ground, distributes its mathematical demand across the course, and sits inside six subjects plus a core with an internal investigation in every subject. The practical difference is temperamental: a student who manages competing deadlines well and dislikes narrowing at sixteen suits the Diploma, while one who works deeply on fewer things and juggles poorly often does better with A Levels. Both are accepted by universities worldwide.

What actually changes between IGCSE physics and Diploma physics?+

Three things, and content is the smallest. Mathematical demand rises sharply: rearrangement is assumed automatic, standard form is constant, logarithms arrive, and gradients must be converted into quantities with units. The answer expectation shifts from stating what happens to naming the physics and the assumption and connecting the steps. And a marked investigation appears, assessed on design and evaluation rather than on a tidy result. All three are preparable in a summer block and otherwise look like weakness in the first mock.

Does an engineering application really need Analysis and Approaches?+

Many competitive courses specify it rather than accepting either maths route, and that is the detail students discover after offers are published. The pairing usually expected is physics and mathematics at Higher Level with Analysis as the route. Applications and Interpretation is more often acceptable for architecture and some applied programmes. None of this should be relied on generally, because requirements differ by country and institution and change between cycles. List the universities genuinely under consideration and read each one's published course page.

Will Physics at Standard Level be enough for a science degree?+

For most engineering and physical-science courses, no, however strong the grade, because the level itself is frequently stated as a minimum. Standard Level physics works well as a third science for economics, business and some architecture routes. The way to settle it is to read the entry profile for the specific course at each institution rather than to rely on general advice, and to do that in Year 11 while the choice is still open rather than in Year 13 when it is not.

Should our son drop Physics HL to reduce his workload?+

Possibly, and for the right reason. The question styles are identical at both levels, so a technique problem such as unstated assumptions in extended response travels with him and dropping will not fix it. Where dropping genuinely helps is total load, particularly for a student carrying three Higher Level sciences or Higher Level physics with Higher Level mathematics and chemistry, which is three content loads and three internal investigations on overlapping deadlines. Ask the department for its own deadline, because the change becomes impractical once the second year starts.

Why does the option topic matter so much for physics?+

Because schools choose it, so two Diploma physics students in Dubai can sit the same core and completely different option questions. Three things follow: a revision guide bought online may cover an option your child will never be examined on, a group class assembled from several schools cannot teach any single option, and a tutor who was not told will prepare the wrong material. One message to the department settles it, and the answer should be given to anybody who sets work for the student.

How should the summer before Diploma physics be used?+

On the things the first term assumes and does not teach. Rearrangement at speed, standard form and prefix conversion, basic logarithm manipulation, vector components, and the habit of justifying rather than stating. Six to eight sessions is realistic with no competing homework. Students from this corridor generally sat IGCSE locally at South View School and then moved, so they arrive in a class containing students from several boards with very different preparation, and the gap shows within weeks rather than months.

Is it true that weak maths is behind most physics failure?+

Very often, and misreading it wastes a term. The signature in a marked script is errors clustering around algebra rather than around concepts: rearrangement failing when the unknown sits in a denominator or under a root, slow standard-form conversion, logarithms blocking access to a question entirely, and gradients treated as bare numbers. The test a parent can apply is to strip the physics from a failed question and ask for the algebra alone. If that fails in isolation, the hour belongs to manipulation practice.

Can an online tutor help with the physics investigation?+

With everything except the measuring, which carries the fewest marks. Before the practical, a session can interrogate the research question, test whether the method will produce a measurable relationship, name the variables needing control and anticipate the dominant uncertainty. Afterwards it can examine the raw data, check whether a different graph reveals a relationship a direct plot hides, work propagation on the student's own numbers and read the draft against each criterion. The experiment belongs to the school and its equipment.

Why is Higher Level physics tutoring so hard to find near Remraam?+

Arithmetic rather than neglect. A tutor teaching only Higher Level physics needs a large Diploma catchment to fill a week, and IB programmes accounted for 7 per cent of Dubai private school enrolment in 2024-25 against 37 per cent for the UK curriculum. Within Dubailand, where most schools run IGCSE and A Levels, the local pool is thinner still, so advertisers here sensibly cover several sciences at IGCSE level. Selecting by level and option rather than distance replaces that geographic pool with a subject pool.

Can one tutor take physics and maths for a Diploma student?+

Frequently, and the overlap is genuine: calculus, vectors and graph interpretation all reappear in mechanics and fields, so one subject reinforces the other rather than competing with it. At Higher Level in both simultaneously the combination is less common and the honest answer is sometimes two tutors. The question to ask is which papers the tutor has marked in each subject rather than whether they can teach both. Scheduling is identical either way, because no travel has to be arranged between slots.

What does a physics specialist cost compared with a general science tutor?+

Physics sits at the specialist end because credible Higher Level coverage is scarce. Named IB and IGCSE specialists publish roughly AED 200 to 450 an hour and above, with TutorChase at AED 270 and Bestimate's Dubai cost table at AED 200 to 450 or more, while premium examiner-led provision reaches AED 650 at BartyED. A qualified subject tutor working online sits at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200. These are published market figures rather than IB Gram prices, and a free trial comes before payment.

Is a physics Extended Essay worth attempting?+

It can be excellent and it is unforgiving for practical reasons. The research question has to be answerable with apparatus the school actually holds, through a measurement a student can take reliably, within the word limit. Most weak physics Extended Essays are competently written and ask something the available equipment could never answer. One or two sessions interrogating the question before any work begins is worth more than ten afterwards, and the essay itself must be entirely the student's own, authenticated by the supervisor.

How long before results should a combination conversation happen?+

A full year before applications, which in practice means during Year 11. The combination is assembled then, by students who have not yet read an entry profile, and it quietly decides what the application can aim at. The exercise is free: list the five or six universities genuinely under consideration, read what each publishes for the specific course, and note what it says about level and maths route. Do it with the school's careers office, and the combination becomes a decision instead of an accident.

Name the comparison, then the subject

The useful first message from Remraam says which comparison is actually live: choosing a combination, choosing a level, bridging from IGCSE, or repairing a grade. Add the level, the option the school teaches, the school itself and one marked paper, and a free trial lesson over live video is arranged before any payment is taken. For two of those four conversations the right purchase is an hour rather than a term, and we will say so. Lessons are online; the experiment stays with the school, and home visits are a service IB Gram runs in India only.
