IGCSE Home Tutor in Remraam

Looking for an IGCSE home tutor in Remraam usually means a family has already chosen a curriculum and now wants help inside it. This page takes a step back first and compares IGCSE with the other routes a Dubai family could be on, because the comparison explains what the qualification is for and therefore what tutoring should aim at. Lessons reach Remraam one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; IB Gram does not visit UAE homes.

IB & IGCSE in Remraam

Why a Remraam family is probably on IGCSE, and what follows from it

Dubai offers an unusual number of school systems in one city. In 2024-25 the emirate's private sector held 387,441 students across 227 schools offering 17 different curricula, with the UK curriculum accounting for 37 per cent of enrolment, the Indian curriculum 26 per cent, the American 14 per cent and the International Baccalaureate 7 per cent. A family arriving in Remraam chooses from most of those within a reasonable drive, and the choice usually gets made on availability and fees rather than on a comparison.

That matters for tutoring because a qualification is a means rather than an end. IGCSE at sixteen leads somewhere specific: to A Levels, to an IB Diploma, or to a sixth form abroad, and it feeds a Ministry of Education equivalency rule with a particular shape. Knowing where the route goes changes what a tutoring hour should buy, because a student aiming at a UAE university has a different subject calculus from one aiming at a British one.

Remraam itself is one of the easier communities in this belt for school access. It is a low-rise apartment development in Dubailand, built as the Al Thamam and Al Ramth clusters with its own park and retail, reached from Al Qudra Road and Emirates Road. South View School sits close by and takes students through Year 11, which means IGCSE years here need less travel than they do from Mudon, Arabian Ranches 3 or Town Square.

What Remraam does not have is a dense local tutor pool. The people advertising along this corridor are based around Dubai Investment Park, Dubai Sports City and Motor City, and most of them cover several subjects at IGCSE level. For a student who needs a specific Extended-tier science paper eight weeks out, that pool is shallower than it looks, and distance is a poor way to choose from it.

There is also a transfer dimension that other pages in this market ignore entirely. Dubai's population moves, between countries and between schools inside the city, and a meaningful share of IGCSE students in this corridor did not start the course here. A child arriving from an Indian board, an American school or an IB continuum brings a different combination of content strength and technique gap, and the first thing they need is a map of what the new syllabus assumes rather than a course taught from the start. Two sections of this page are about exactly that.

IB Gram answers the search honestly rather than literally: lessons are one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, with the tutor matched to the board and code the student is actually entered for. Home visits are a service IB Gram runs in India only, and nothing on this page should be read as an offer to arrive at an Al Ramth or Al Thamam address.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Four routes are realistically available to a Remraam family at secondary level, and they are not interchangeable.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE, Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel

Subject-by-subject qualifications examined at the end of Year 11, tiered in several subjects. Cambridge codes include 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry and 0610 Biology; Pearson codes include 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1 and 4BI1. Grades decide sixth-form access and feed Ministry equivalency.

UAE Cambridge candidates sit the June and November series, and the February and March series is offered in India only. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May and June and again in November, and Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones whose timetable must be used.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four published criteria each, marked out of eight and converted to a 1 to 7 grade, with the Personal Project in the final year. External examination is optional, so most MYP students finish without a public qualification at sixteen.

MYP provision in Dubailand is thinner than IGCSE provision, so a Remraam family choosing it usually accepts a longer school run towards Dubai Hills, Al Barsha South or The Sustainable City.

USAges 14-18 · Grades 9-12

American curriculum and the diploma route

A high school diploma accumulated over four years with grade point averages and standardised testing rather than terminal subject examinations. Advanced Placement courses sit on top for students who want subject depth.

Ministry of Education equivalency on the American track asks for English proficiency through an IELTS academic score of 5, a TOEFL iBT score of 61 or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section, and mathematics through at least 450 in the SAT Math test.

INDIANAges 14-18 · Classes 9-12

Indian curriculum boards

The second largest curriculum group in Dubai by enrolment, with terminal board examinations at Class 10 and Class 12 and a content load that is heavier and more prescriptive than IGCSE in the sciences and mathematics.

Families moving between an Indian board and IGCSE in either direction meet a real content-order difference, not just a difficulty difference, and that transfer is one of the more common tutoring requests along this corridor.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the International GCSE subjects most requested from Remraam, with the detail that decides which board a tutor needs to know.

Mathematics

0580 Core and Extended; 4MA1 Foundation and Higher

The two boards expect different amounts of written method, so cross-board practice can cost earned marks. Early rounding and abandoned final pages are the other two reliable losses.

Physics

0625 and 4PH1

Electricity and electromagnetism carry most of the losses. Explanations that state without a causal link, and practical answers that name apparatus instead of describing a repeatable method, cost marks the student had earned.

Chemistry

0620 and 4CH1

Moles, electrolysis, rates and organic. Unbalanced equations and missing state symbols are mechanical losses; qualitative analysis questions are routinely available marks left unclaimed.

Biology

0610 and 4BI1

Long answers reward sequence and precise terminology, and data questions reward reading axes and units before applying content. Command-term misreading costs more here than content gaps do.

English Language

0500 and 4EA1

Directed writing and reading responses, where register and task form matter as much as vocabulary. Strong writers lose marks for answering in the form they prefer rather than the one the task set.

English Literature

IGCSE

Extract and essay questions on set texts. Quotation accuracy and a sustained argument score better than plot recall, and timing is the most common cause of an unfinished final answer.

Business Studies

IGCSE

Case-study papers where definitions earn one mark and application to the named business earns the rest. A trainable habit rather than a knowledge problem for most students.

Economics

IGCSE

Diagram accuracy and precise terminology, with much of the loss mechanical: an unlabelled axis or a curve moved without an explanation. That makes it one of the most improvable subjects by drilling.

Arabic as a second language

IGCSE

Reading, writing and oral components, separate from the Arabic that KHDA requires every Dubai private school to teach alongside the licensed curriculum.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways IGCSE support runs from Remraam, all over live video and chosen by the student's position in the two-year course.

Transfer mapping block

For a student who has recently moved into IGCSE from another curriculum. A short block establishing exactly which content the new course assumes and the previous one did not cover, which is a mapping job rather than general teaching.

  • Previous curriculum's coverage compared with the IGCSE syllabus
  • Specific gaps listed rather than the syllabus retaught
  • Board and code confirmed with the new school first
  • Tier implications raised before the entry is lodged

Term-time single subject

One weekly session following the school's topic order, with past-paper questions from the entered code. The standard arrangement for a student whose grade has drifted rather than collapsed.

  • Tracks the school's own sequence rather than duplicating it
  • Homework set from the student's own board
  • Weekly notes naming the topic and next target
  • Slot moves within the evening at no cost

Pre-series technique block

Two sessions a week across six to eight weeks on timed papers, marked against the published scheme, with practical-style questions drilled separately because they follow their own rules.

  • Timed sections in every session
  • Scripts marked by the student against the scheme
  • Errors classified rather than simply corrected
  • Slots after Iftar during Ramadan where families prefer

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Remraam

01

What Dubai's curriculum mix means for one family's choice

The scale of Dubai's private sector is what makes the comparison worth making. In 2024-25 it held 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering 17 curricula, with the UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian at 26 per cent, American at 14 per cent and the International Baccalaureate at 7 per cent. For the following intake, seven new private schools were announced, four UK curriculum and three IB, creating 16,846 new places, and KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year.

Those proportions explain something a family often reads as coincidence. A Remraam household will meet far more IGCSE students than MYP students, because the UK route is more than five times as large by enrolment in this city. Advice circulating in community groups is therefore overwhelmingly British-curriculum advice, which is useful if you are on that route and misleading if you are not.

It also explains the tutoring market. Tutors follow enrolment, so IGCSE coverage along this corridor is broader and cheaper than MYP or American coverage, and finding help for Cambridge 0580 is straightforward while finding someone who has marked against MYP criteria takes longer. That asymmetry is worth knowing before choosing a curriculum, not after.

What the proportions do not tell you is which route suits a particular child, or where each one leads. The next sections take those in turn, because a tutoring plan built without them tends to optimise the wrong thing.

02

IGCSE compared with the Middle Years Programme

  • IGCSE is terminal, subject-based and produces a portable qualification at sixteen
  • The MYP is criterion-based, continuous, and usually ends without external examination
  • The MYP prepares better for the IB Diploma; IGCSE prepares better for A Levels
  • Choose on fit and destination rather than on perceived prestige

This is the comparison Dubai parents ask about most, and it is usually framed as which is harder. That is the wrong question. The two systems differ in what they measure and in what they leave a student holding at sixteen, and either can suit a child depending on how they work.

IGCSE is terminal and subject-by-subject. A student sits papers at the end of Year 11 and receives grades that a sixth form anywhere can read without explanation. It rewards content mastery, examination technique and the ability to perform on a given morning. It also produces a portable qualification, which matters for a family that may move country, and it feeds the Ministry of Education equivalency rule directly.

The MYP is criterion-based and continuous. A student is assessed on skills demonstrated in tasks against published descriptors, across eight subject groups, with external examination optional. It rewards research, reflection and sustained independent work, and it prepares a student unusually well for the IB Diploma because the assessment language carries over. What it generally does not produce is a public qualification at sixteen.

The practical consequence for a Remraam family is about fit and about destination. A student who performs well under examination pressure and may move schools or countries is well served by IGCSE. A student who works steadily, writes well and is heading for an IB Diploma is well served by the MYP. The mistake is choosing on prestige, because neither is more prestigious; they answer different questions.

03

IGCSE against the American and Indian routes

The American route changes the shape of the whole secondary experience. There is no terminal examination at sixteen; a student accumulates credits and a grade point average across four years, with standardised tests and Advanced Placement courses carrying the subject depth. A student who performs inconsistently on a single morning is better protected here, and a student who coasts for a year cannot recover it with a strong examination run.

The Indian boards sit at the other end. Content load is heavier and more prescriptive than IGCSE in mathematics and the sciences, with terminal examinations at Class 10 and Class 12. Students transferring from an Indian board into IGCSE are often ahead on content and behind on the style of answer IGCSE rewards, particularly on application and extended written response. Students moving the other way meet a volume increase they rarely expect.

Transfers in either direction are a meaningful part of the tutoring demand along this corridor, and they need mapping rather than general teaching. The useful first piece of work is a list of exactly what the new syllabus assumes and the previous course did not cover, built by comparing the two documents rather than by teaching from the start.

For the equivalency question, the tracks differ. The British track asks for five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education not counted among the five, plus one Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. The American track asks for English through an IELTS academic score of 5, a TOEFL iBT score of 61 or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section, and mathematics through at least 450 in the SAT Math test.

04

Remraam's school access against its neighbours

Within this corridor, Remraam is comparatively well placed, and that changes the tutoring calculation in a way worth stating. South View School sits close to the community and takes students through Year 11, which means the IGCSE years can be managed with a short run. Families in Mudon, Arabian Ranches 3 and Town Square face longer journeys in every direction, and that difference shows up in how late an evening session has to start.

The advantage is narrower than it looks, though. A school nearby is not a tutor nearby. The people advertising along this stretch of Dubailand are based around Dubai Investment Park, Dubai Sports City and Motor City, and the tuition centres are concentrated in Motor City. A Remraam family can reach a school in ten minutes and still face a thirty-minute round trip for a group class at six.

For the Diploma the position reverses. There is no IB provision inside or immediately beside Remraam, so a student continuing to a Diploma generally moves towards Dubai Hills, Al Barsha South or The Sustainable City. That makes Year 11 a decision year here more than it is in communities where the same school continues to eighteen.

The table sets out what each community in this corridor can actually reach, because the answer to the tutoring question depends less on distance than families assume and more on which board and level they need.

One operational note. Because the run from Remraam to South View School is short, evening sessions here can start earlier than almost anywhere else in this belt, which is worth using. A session at a quarter past four with a student who is not yet tired is a better hour than the same session at eight, and families who have only ever known a long commute often do not realise that option is open to them.

Moving curriculum mid-phase: what actually breaks

  • Content order differs between curricula, which looks like random weakness
  • Answer style differs: application, extended response and timed performance
  • Tier placement is made on limited evidence for a mid-phase arrival
  • Map the gaps against the syllabus before paying for general teaching

Transfers happen constantly in Dubai and they are handled better when the specific risks are named. Three things break, and none of them is general ability. The first is content order: two curricula can cover the same topics in a different sequence across two years, so a student arriving in the middle has met some later material and missed some earlier material, which looks like random weakness.

The second is the style of answer. An Indian-board student may know more content and write it in a form IGCSE does not reward, particularly on application and extended response. An MYP student moving into IGCSE brings strong research habits and has not sat timed papers. An American-curriculum student arrives without terminal examination experience at all. Each of those is a technique gap with a different fix.

The third, and the most consequential, is the tier decision. Where a subject is tiered, schools place students on the evidence they have, and a student who arrives mid-Year-10 has produced little evidence at the new school. Conservative placement is a reasonable response and can cap a grade the student would otherwise have reached. Raising this with the school early, with work from the previous school attached, is the single most useful administrative act available to a transferring family.

The right first piece of tutoring in all three cases is mapping rather than teaching. Comparing the two syllabus documents produces a list of specific gaps, and a list is both cheaper and more reassuring than being taught a course the student has largely already done.

06

Online, in-home and centre help compared from Remraam

  • In-home: AED 180 to 500 with travel inside the quote and a fixed arrival window
  • Centre class: a lower fee paid for with the family's evening
  • Online one-to-one: AED 150 to 300 qualified, with no travel on either side
  • Monthly bands: AED 240 to 600 budget, AED 600 to 1,200 mid, AED 1,000 to 2,000+ specialist

A fair comparison counts the whole arrangement rather than the hourly figure. In-home visits carry travel inside the quote, which is why they are advertised at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour in this market, with Bestimate's range at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors publishing AED 200 to 500. They also carry a fixed arrival window, and a visiting tutor cannot absorb a late bus when the next household is elsewhere.

Centre classes shift the travel to the family. A ninety-minute class in Motor City from an Al Thamam apartment is a round trip at peak time, which for a Year 11 means leaving before homework starts and returning after it should have finished. The fee looks lower and the evening pays the difference. Where the group matches the student's board and tier and the timing genuinely suits, that trade can still be worth making.

Online one-to-one sits in the qualified band at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150, and it removes travel from both sides. What it asks in return is a quiet room, a stable connection and a parent who reads the session notes. For practical science work it cannot replace the school laboratory and does not claim to; it teaches what the paper asks about practical work, which is where those marks sit.

Monthly, Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 estimates for a weekly one-hour arrangement run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support, with market packages including AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Those are published market figures, not IB Gram prices.

07

What the Ministry counts, and what no tutor can promise

  • British track: five accredited IGCSE subjects at E or 3 or above, plus A Level at E or two AS Levels
  • Arabic and Islamic education are excluded from the five
  • American track: IELTS 5, TOEFL iBT 61 or SAT 450 reading and writing, plus SAT Math 450
  • No IB points figure should be published without a Ministry source
  • No tutor performs, guarantees, or is required for equivalency

Equivalency is the part of this comparison that families discover late, usually when a university application is in view. On the British track, a student must show five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, together with one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade.

The detail that catches people is which subjects count. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects, even though Dubai private schools must teach them. A student who assumed those two carried part of the load can arrive at the count short. One page currently ranking for these searches states that UAE candidates need six IGCSE subjects; the published rule is five, and getting that right matters more than any ranking does.

For the American track the requirements are different, with English proficiency shown by an IELTS academic score of 5, a TOEFL iBT score of 61, or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section, and mathematics by at least 450 in the SAT Math test. For the IB, no points threshold should be taken from any tutoring page, including this one, without being read on the Ministry's own site.

Two things follow. IB Gram does not perform equivalency or attestation and cannot guarantee any outcome from it; the process belongs to the Ministry and the relevant emirate authority, and their official channels are the place to verify every detail. And tutoring is not required for equivalency. The rule asks for subjects and grades, and implying otherwise would be a false-urgency claim about a regulatory process.

08

Permits, premises and coursework boundaries

  • MoHRE private tuition permit: free, two years, two working days to issue
  • Centres with premises need a KHDA Educational Services Permit, renewed annually
  • No published fine schedule exists for unpermitted tutoring
  • Tutors teach, critique and mark; they never produce assessed work
  • Official board material is referenced and linked, never redistributed

Three administrative facts bound any tutoring arrangement in Dubai, and all three are checkable. An individual giving private lessons needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18 and university students.

MoHRE's own service listing is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, shows no fees and a two-working-day completion time, and is applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so a figure quoted to you as the penalty is unverified.

A tutoring operation with premises and staff is a different legal animal and needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least 30 days before expiry. IB Gram has no UAE premises, holds no such permit, and does not use a regulator's name to describe its tutors.

On coursework, where a centre runs assessed work it must be the student's own. A tutor may teach the subject, explain what criteria reward, say that an approach will not produce what the task needs, and mark the student's own draft against descriptors. A tutor may not write, draft, complete or edit the work to completion, or supply text. Board material belongs to its publishers and is linked rather than circulated.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Remraam

School access varies sharply across this corridor, and Remraam is better placed than most of its neighbours at IGCSE level.

Mudon

Villas across Al Qudra Road with no school inside the community, so families there travel in several directions for both IGCSE and Diploma provision.

Arabian Ranches 3

New villas with a young population and the same absence of an on-site secondary school, which makes the school run outward in every case.

Dubai Investment Park

Adjacent along the same corridor and home to a share of the freelance tutors advertising to Remraam families, mostly covering IGCSE subjects broadly.

Dubai Sports City

GEMS United School and Victory Heights Primary, with afternoon congestion around the stadium district that makes travel-based tutoring unreliable.

Motor City

GEMS Metropole School plus the densest cluster of tuition centres running IGCSE revision classes for this part of Dubai.

Town Square

The longest school run of the group, which pushes a workable session later into the evening and makes weekend slots more realistic.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say where the student came from

For a transferring family this is the most useful single fact. An Indian-board arrival, an MYP arrival and an American-curriculum arrival each bring a different combination of content strength and technique gap, and the first block of work differs completely between them.

  2. 02

Get board, code and tier in writing

Ask the school for subject, board, code and tier for each IGCSE entry. Dubailand schools do not all use one board across a timetable, and past papers from the wrong code teach the wrong habits for an entire term.

  3. 03

Map the gaps before buying teaching

Comparing the previous syllabus with the IGCSE one produces a list of specific gaps. A list is cheaper than a course and more reassuring than being retaught material the student already knows. It also gives the school something concrete for a tier conversation.

  4. 04

Free trial lesson, then a fixed slot

A trial over live video at no cost and before any payment. Afterwards the slot sits on Gulf Standard Time around the short run from South View School or wherever the student attends, and it can move within the evening or after Iftar during Ramadan at no cost.

  5. 05

Review against the series and the destination

Every few weeks the plan is checked against the entered series, the mock window and where the student is heading after Year 11. A sixth form in the UAE, a British sixth form and an IB Diploma each imply slightly different subject priorities.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The comparison comes before the coaching

Knowing what IGCSE is for, against the MYP, American and Indian routes, changes what a tutoring hour should aim at. A student heading for a UAE university has a different subject calculus from one heading for a British sixth form.

Transfers are mapped, not retaught

A student arriving mid-phase needs a list of specific gaps built by comparing two syllabus documents, not a course taught from the beginning. That is cheaper, faster, and gives the school evidence for a tier conversation.

Board and code are confirmed first

Cambridge and Pearson expect different amounts of written method and phrase questions differently. Confirming the code per subject takes one message to the school and prevents a term of practice aimed at the wrong paper.

Equivalency is described, never promised

The five-subject British-track rule and the American-track test thresholds are quoted with their source. IB Gram does not perform or guarantee equivalency, and does not suggest tutoring is required for it, because that would be a false claim about a regulatory process.

No travel on either side

An in-home visit prices the drive inside the hourly rate and a centre class charges the family's evening instead. An online session begins when the student sits down, which is also why a late bus from school does not cost the lesson.

No regulator names as credentials

IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform with no KHDA permit, no ADEK registration, no board affiliation and no UAE office. Where a competing page attaches a regulator's name to its tutors, that is a claim to check rather than a qualification.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Remraam: your questions answered

Does an IGCSE tutor visit homes in Remraam?+

Not through IB Gram. Lessons are taught one-to-one over live video, and home visits are a service IB Gram runs in India only. Visiting tutors exist in Dubai and are advertised at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel folded into the price, per Bestimate's Dubai cost table and the rates independent home tutors publish. From an Al Thamam or Al Ramth apartment the online route buys a tutor matched to the board and code the student is entered for, rather than whoever is willing to drive along this corridor at five.

Why is the British curriculum so common in Dubai schools?+

Mostly scale and portability. In 2024-25 the UK curriculum accounted for 37 per cent of Dubai private school enrolment, against 26 per cent Indian, 14 per cent American and 7 per cent International Baccalaureate across 227 schools and 17 curricula. IGCSE produces subject grades at sixteen that a sixth form in almost any country can read without explanation, which suits a population that moves. The practical consequence for tutoring is that IGCSE coverage along this corridor is broader and more price-competitive than coverage for the other routes.

Should a Dubailand child study IGCSE or the Middle Years Programme?+

It depends on how the child works and where they are heading, not on prestige. IGCSE is terminal and subject-based, rewards examination technique, and leaves a portable qualification at sixteen that feeds Ministry equivalency directly. The MYP is criterion-based and continuous, rewards research and reflection, usually ends without external examination, and prepares unusually well for the IB Diploma because the assessment language carries over. A student who performs well under examination pressure and may change country is well served by IGCSE.

What breaks when a child moves from an Indian board into IGCSE?+

Usually not ability. Three things break: content order, because two curricula cover the same material in a different sequence, so gaps look like random weakness; answer style, because Indian-board students often know more content and write it in a form IGCSE rewards less, especially on application and extended response; and tier placement, since a mid-phase arrival has produced little evidence at the new school. The first useful piece of work is a mapped list of specific gaps rather than being retaught a course largely already covered.

Which subjects does the Ministry count when a Remraam student applies locally?+

Five. Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track asks for five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five, which is the detail that leaves families short. One page ranking for these searches states six; the published rule is five. IB Gram does not perform equivalency, and the Ministry's channels are where to verify it.

Is Remraam better placed for school access than Mudon?+

At IGCSE level, yes. South View School sits close to the community and takes students through Year 11, so the school run here is short by the standards of this belt, while Mudon, Arabian Ranches 3 and Town Square have no secondary provision inside their boundaries at all. For the Diploma the advantage disappears, because there is no IB provision beside Remraam and a continuing student generally moves towards Dubai Hills, Al Barsha South or The Sustainable City. A nearby school is also not a nearby tutor.

Does an American-curriculum student need IGCSE-style tutoring?+

A different kind. The American route has no terminal examination at sixteen; a student accumulates credits and a grade point average across four years, with standardised testing and Advanced Placement carrying subject depth. The tutoring need is therefore steady coursework support and test preparation rather than examination technique in a single season. For equivalency, the American track asks for English through IELTS 5, TOEFL iBT 61 or SAT 450 reading and writing, and mathematics through at least 450 in the SAT Math test.

Which board does South View School use for IGCSE subjects?+

Ask the school directly and ask per subject, because schools in this belt do not all use one board across a timetable and a single answer for the whole student is often wrong. Request subject, board, code and tier in writing. Then check the code on the front of any past paper the student has been given against that list. Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel phrase questions differently and expect different amounts of written method, so practice from the other board can cost marks the student had earned.

Is a group revision class in Motor City worth the trip from Remraam?+

Only when the room matches the student's board and tier and the timing genuinely suits. A group works well where everyone sits the same paper with roughly the same gap, which happens most often in spring-term mathematics. Dubailand groups usually mix Cambridge and Pearson students at two tiers, which forces content teaching rather than paper technique. Then count the evening: a ninety-minute class at peak time means leaving before homework starts and returning after it should have finished, which is a real cost even when the fee is lower.

What should a transferring family ask the new school first?+

Four things, in writing. Which board and code is my child entered for in each subject. Which tier, where the subject is tiered. What is the last date that entry can be amended. And what evidence would you want to see to review the tier. A mid-phase arrival is placed on limited evidence, and conservative placement is a reasonable response that can nonetheless cap a grade. Work from the previous school, attached early, is the most useful thing a transferring family can supply.

Can one tutor handle a transfer mapping and then the teaching?+

Usually, and it is the efficient arrangement. The mapping block establishes exactly which content the IGCSE syllabus assumes and the previous course did not cover, which takes two or three sessions with both syllabus documents open. The teaching that follows is then narrow and targeted rather than a general course. The same tutor carrying both means nothing is re-explained, and the gap list doubles as a progress record for the school and for any tier conversation that follows.

How much should a Remraam family budget for one IGCSE subject?+

A qualified subject tutor working online in this market sits at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. Across a month, Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 estimates for a weekly hour run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Market packages include AED 799 monthly for eight online sessions. These are published figures rather than IB Gram prices, and a free trial comes first.

Do private tutors along this corridor need a licence?+

The individual does. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers registered school teachers, government and private sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's service listing shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Anyone tutoring without it is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no fine schedule is published. A centre with premises needs a separate KHDA permit instead.

Does the choice of curriculum affect UAE university admission?+

It affects the equivalency route rather than the welcome. Each curriculum has its own set of requirements to satisfy: the British track through five IGCSE subjects at grade E or 3 or above excluding Arabic and Islamic education, plus A Level or AS Level grades; the American track through SAT and English test thresholds. Those are Ministry requirements and they are verified through Ministry and emirate channels. No tutor performs equivalency, guarantees it, or is required for it, and any page implying otherwise is making a claim about a regulatory process it does not control.

Compare the route, then fix the subject

The most useful half hour a Remraam family can spend is not on choosing a tutor. It is on writing down where the student came from, which board and code each subject is entered for, which tier, and where they intend to go after Year 11. Send that with one marked paper and a free trial lesson over live video is arranged before any payment is taken. The plan that comes back will name specific gaps rather than offering a general course. Lessons are online; home visits are a service IB Gram runs in India only.
