IB Home Tutor in Remraam

An IB home tutor in Remraam is a search about convenience, but the thing that changes a Diploma result is subject detail: which component carries the marks, what each mark scheme credits, and which three topics eat a grade. This page is organised by subject group rather than by postcode, because that is where the work actually is. Lessons arrive in Remraam one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; IB Gram does not send tutors to UAE addresses.

  • Tutors chosen by subject group and level, not by driving range
  • Work set from the student's own syllabus and option
  • Internal assessment help limited to feedback on the student's own draft

IB & IGCSE in Remraam

Six subject groups, and the marks sit in different places in each

A Diploma result is six subject grades plus the core, and each of those six is assembled differently. The sciences put a fifth of the grade in an investigation and most of the rest in a response paper. Mathematics puts a fifth in an exploration and splits the rest across papers that test different skills. Languages put real weight on an oral. Individuals and societies subjects reward application to a named case rather than general knowledge. A plan that treats all six the same wastes most of its hours.

Remraam adds a particular constraint. It is a low-rise apartment community in Dubailand, built across the Al Thamam and Al Ramth clusters with its own park and retail, reached from Al Qudra Road and Emirates Road. South View School sits close by, which makes it one of the few communities in this belt where a secondary school is genuinely near. What Remraam does not have is a Diploma school on its doorstep, so sixth-form students travel further than their younger siblings.

That travel is why a subject-led approach matters more here than a proximity-led one. A tutor who can reach an Al Ramth apartment within twenty minutes is drawn from the pool living around Dubai Sports City, Motor City and Dubai Investment Park, and that pool is made of generalists covering several subjects at two levels. For Standard Level support that is often adequate. For Chemistry at Higher Level, or an Economics commentary three weeks from a deadline, it usually is not.

The subject detail is also what a parent can check. Asking a tutor which option their school teaches, which papers they have marked, or what a particular criterion rewards produces answers you can verify against the school. Asking whether they are experienced produces a sentence. Half of this page exists so that a Remraam family has the first kind of question available to them before any money moves.

One more thing is worth saying before the subject detail starts. A Diploma is a long game with a small number of decision points, and almost all of them arrive before a family feels any urgency. Subject and level combinations are fixed in Year 11. Internal assessment topics are approved early in Year 12. The Extended Essay question is settled before the writing. A family that understands the subject structure early makes those decisions well and often needs fewer tutoring hours afterwards, which is the opposite of how this market usually works.

Delivery is one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time so a session can begin at a quarter past four for a student home early or after eight where both parents commute. Home visits are something IB Gram runs in India only, and no sentence here should be read as an offer to arrive at a Remraam address. The comparison table in the next section sets out what that trade actually buys.

At a glance

  • Each subject group places its marks differently, so one plan shape cannot fit all six
  • Remraam has a school nearby but no Diploma provision inside the community
  • Option topics and schemes of work differ by school, so name the school when you enquire
  • Specific questions about papers and criteria are verifiable; questions about experience are not
  • Market rates for a qualified online subject tutor in Dubai run roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour (Unitors)
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three IB programmes appear in requests from this part of Dubailand, and the subject work differs completely across them.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects spread across the groups, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. External papers carry most of each subject grade and every subject has an internally assessed component. Higher Level usually means extra content and, in several subjects, an additional paper.

Remraam Diploma students travel outward, most often towards Dubai Hills, Al Barsha South or The Sustainable City. The practical result is a compressed evening, which argues for sessions built on timed questions rather than on content delivery that repeats the school day.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four published criteria each, marked out of eight and converted to a 1 to 7 grade. There is no compulsory external examination, so the criterion descriptors carry the entire assessment language of the programme.

In Remraam the MYP is less common than IGCSE, so families asking about it have usually moved a child into a continuum school recently. The first reporting cycle is where most of the questions come from, and they are about vocabulary rather than about content.

COREAges 16-19 · Across Years 12-13

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

A Theory of Knowledge exhibition and essay, plus a 4,000-word Extended Essay in a chosen subject. Both add points on top of the six subject grades, and both are routinely left until the point at which they are expensive to rescue.

The Extended Essay subject choice deserves a session of its own long before any writing. Students in this belt often choose a subject they enjoy rather than one with accessible sources and a question answerable in 4,000 words, and that decision sets the ceiling.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Below is subject detail rather than a list: what each component examines and the loss that recurs most often in marked work.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Stoichiometry through to organic mechanisms. Equations left unbalanced and state symbols omitted cost marks mechanically; arrows drawn from a positive centre make a mechanism wrong even when the product is right.

Physics

HL and SL

Extended responses need the assumption named, not implied. Gradients must be converted into the physical quantity the question asked for, and the Higher Level extension in fields and induction separates students with identical notes.

Biology

HL and SL

Data questions reward reading axes, units and scale before any biology is applied. Long answers reward sequence and named products, and the command term decides whether description or explanation earns credit.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Paper 1 is taken without a calculator, so fluency rather than understanding is tested there. The exploration credits presentation, engagement and reflection separately from the mathematics, which is where most marks are left.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling and statistics, with technology assumed. The reliable loss is finishing a correct calculation without the sentence that interprets the result in the context the question described.

Economics

HL and SL

Three commentaries form the internal component, and article choice is part of the assessment. Diagrams earn marks when applied to the named market and almost none when described in the abstract.

Business Management

HL and SL

Stimulus-based papers where frameworks score only against the named organisation. The Higher Level research project needs a question that primary research can actually answer within the constraints available.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Guided analysis, a comparative essay, the Individual Oral on a chosen global issue with two extracts, and at Higher Level the HL Essay. Comparative answers that treat texts in sequence lose the comparison credit.

Arabic B

HL and SL

Reading, writing in specified text types, and the oral components. Distinct from the Arabic that KHDA requires all Dubai private schools to teach, which sits beside the Diploma rather than inside it.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways a subject-led plan runs from Remraam, all delivered over live video and chosen from the student's marked work.

One subject, one level, weekly

A single Diploma subject taken weekly, following the school's own topic order and internal deadlines. The format that suits a student whose grade sits a band below what their classwork suggests it should.

  • Same tutor and subject each week so diagnosis carries forward
  • Questions taken from the student's own option and session
  • Notes after each session naming the next target
  • Slot can move within the evening at no cost

Internal assessment block

A short block on a science investigation, a mathematics exploration or Economics commentaries, worked strictly as teaching and feedback on the student's own draft against the published criteria.

  • Research question or article choice interrogated first
  • Criterion descriptors explained in the student's own words
  • Draft marked against descriptors, with gaps named
  • No drafting, rewriting or supply of text or data

Paper technique block

Two sessions a week across eight to twelve weeks, built on timed questions from the student's subject and marked against the published scheme. For content that is known and marks that are not being collected.

  • A timed section in every session
  • Marks reconciled against the scheme by the student
  • Error pattern stated by the student in one sentence
  • Topic repair chosen from the scripts rather than a checklist

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Remraam

01

What a home tutor search means from a Remraam apartment

Taken literally, the search is for someone to arrive at a flat in Al Thamam or Al Ramth at a usable hour. That service exists in Dubai and it is quoted accordingly: in-home one-to-one visits are advertised at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel folded into the price, Bestimate's range being AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors publishing AED 200 to 500. Nobody itemises the drive; it simply sits inside the rate.

What a Remraam family is really choosing between is a tutor selected by distance and a tutor selected by subject. Distance narrows the field to people living along this corridor, around Dubai Investment Park, Dubai Sports City and Motor City, and that field is mostly made of people who teach several subjects at IGCSE level with Diploma work as an extension. Subject selection removes the geographic filter entirely.

There is a scheduling dimension too, and for apartment families with two children at different schools it often decides the matter. A visiting tutor needs a fixed arrival window and cannot absorb a twenty-minute delay when a bus is late, because the next household is somewhere else. A video session begins when the student sits down, and a slot can shift by half an hour without renegotiating anything, including after Iftar during Ramadan.

IB Gram runs home visits in India only, so the honest answer to the literal search is no, with a comparison attached rather than a deflection. The table below sets the two formats side by side on the terms that matter from this community.

Group 4: how a Diploma science grade is assembled

  • The investigation is marked on design, analysis and evaluation, not on a clean result
  • Extended responses must match the mark allocation statement for statement
  • The experiment stays with the school; the write-up carries the marks
  • Option topics differ by school, so the school name changes the plan

The sciences share a structure, which makes them easy to plan once it is understood. Each subject has external papers plus an internally assessed investigation worth roughly a fifth of the grade, and the investigation is marked against criteria rather than against whether the experiment worked. A modest investigation, carefully designed and honestly evaluated, scores better than an ambitious one written up loosely.

On the papers, the highest-value technique is answer construction in the extended-response questions. Physics loses marks to unstated assumptions. Chemistry loses them to loose notation and unbalanced equations. Biology loses them to description where the command term asked for explanation or evaluation. All three lose marks to answers that do not match the mark allocation, because a six-mark question wants six creditable statements rather than one long paragraph.

The investigation is also where online tuition has a clear limit worth stating. The experiment belongs to the school, its equipment and its safety rules. What a session does is interrogate the research question before the laboratory, then examine the data, the graph choice, the uncertainty propagation and the evaluation afterwards. Those stages hold most of the criterion marks, and students rush them.

Option topics vary between schools, so a Remraam student at GEMS International School Al Khail and one at Fairgreen may sit the same core and different option questions. Naming the school with the enquiry prevents a term of preparation aimed at the wrong material.

A note on the laboratory scheme itself. Schools differ in how much practical work they run and when, and that determines when an investigation can realistically be designed and carried out. Asking the department early for the practical calendar, rather than waiting for a deadline to be announced, is the cheapest piece of planning available in any science subject.

03

Group 5: the two mathematics routes and what each punishes

  • Analysis punishes arithmetic fragility in its non-calculator paper
  • Applications punishes a missing interpretation sentence
  • The exploration credits presentation, engagement and reflection separately
  • Non-calculator fluency degrades silently because classwork never tests it

Mathematics at Diploma level is two courses, not one subject at two difficulties. Analysis and Approaches is algebraic and proof-centred with calculus at its core, and its first paper is taken without a calculator. Applications and Interpretation is built on modelling and statistics with technology assumed throughout. Both exist at Higher and Standard Level, and both carry an exploration worth roughly a fifth of the grade.

Each punishes a different thing. In Analysis the punishment is arithmetic fragility: a slip in the second line of a manipulation reaches the final answer, and follow-through credit only partly rescues it. Classwork is almost always done with a calculator to hand, so this fluency degrades invisibly and is discovered in a mock. The repair is short timed non-calculator sets, marked at once, with every error labelled as either a slip or a method failure.

In Applications the punishment is silence. A student produces correct mathematics, reaches a modelled value, and never writes the sentence interpreting it in the context the question set out. That sentence is where the mark scheme puts the credit. The repair is a rule: no answer is finished until it has been read back in the language of the question.

The exploration behaves the same way in both routes. Students spend their effort on the mathematics, which is one criterion, and lose marks on presentation, personal engagement and reflection, which are credited separately. A reflection identifying a limitation in a model and considering what relaxing an assumption would change scores; one saying the topic was interesting does not.

04

Groups 1, 2 and 3: languages and the human sciences

  • The Individual Oral is the most preparable component in the Diploma
  • Language acquisition loses marks to register and text-type conventions
  • Economics and Business reward application to the named case, not description
  • Article choice in Economics commentaries is part of the assessment

Language and literature subjects are often treated as unteachable by tutors, which is wrong. Their components are as structured as a science paper. Guided textual analysis rewards a line of argument about how a text works rather than what it says. The comparative essay rewards texts held in conversation rather than described in sequence. The Individual Oral rewards a global issue the student can defend with two extracts they know intimately, and it is the most preparable component in the Diploma.

Language acquisition subjects, including Arabic B, sit on specified text types and oral components. The reliable loss is register: a task asking for a blog post that receives an essay loses marks that strong language cannot recover. Learning the conventions of each text type is a short, mechanical piece of work with a high return.

Individuals and societies subjects reward application. In Economics, a diagram earns marks when it is applied to the named market and almost none when it is described; the three commentaries are assessed partly on the article chosen, which makes article selection part of the work rather than a preliminary to it. In Business Management, a framework earns marks against the named organisation and nothing in the abstract.

Across all three groups the single most common avoidable loss is answering a different question from the one asked, usually because the command term was skipped in a long stem. That is diagnosable from any marked script and it responds to a fortnight of deliberate practice.

05

Internal assessment across the six groups, compared

Every Diploma subject has an internal component and they are easy to confuse, because they have different names, different lengths and different criteria. What they share is the thing that matters most: they must be the student's own work, authenticated by the teacher, and they carry a meaningful share of the grade with a deadline a family can still influence.

That last point makes internal assessment the highest-return work available in Year 12. Papers are months away and can only be prepared for. The investigation, exploration or commentary is in front of the student now, and a session spent interrogating a research question is worth several spent polishing a draft later. Families who understand this move their tutoring spend earlier in the year and buy less of it overall.

The failure modes differ by group and are worth knowing in advance. Science investigations fail on scope, with a question the school's equipment cannot answer. Mathematics explorations fail on the non-mathematical criteria. Economics commentaries fail on article choice. Extended Essays fail on a research question that cannot be answered in 4,000 words. In every case the failure happens before any writing, which is exactly when help is cheapest.

The boundary applies identically across all of them. A tutor explains criteria, interrogates a question, critiques a method and marks the student's own draft. A tutor does not draft, rewrite, edit to completion, supply text or provide data the student did not collect.

INTERNAL COMPONENTS BY SUBJECT GROUP
Subject groupThe internal componentWhere it usually failsThe session that prevents it
SciencesScientific investigationScope: the question the equipment cannot answerInterrogating the question before the laboratory

06

The highest-frequency loss in each group

If a Remraam family wanted one page of this to keep, it would be this one. Across marked Diploma work the losses are strikingly repetitive, and each group has a signature failure that accounts for a disproportionate share of missing marks.

In the sciences it is the unstated step: a calculation without its assumption, a conclusion without the reasoning line, an evaluation that lists rather than judges. In mathematics it is the unwritten interpretation or, in Analysis, the arithmetic slip under non-calculator conditions. In language and literature it is sequential treatment where comparison was asked for. In language acquisition it is register. In individuals and societies it is description where application was required.

These signatures are useful because they make the first session efficient. A tutor who knows the signature for the subject can look at one marked script and confirm or rule it out within minutes, rather than running a generic diagnostic hour. Where the signature is present, the plan is obvious. Where it is absent, something more specific is going on and that is worth knowing too.

The second use is for the student. A teenager who can say out loud that they lose marks by calculating without stating assumptions has something actionable. A teenager who believes they are bad at chemistry does not. Converting the second sentence into the first is a large part of what a good first session does.

One caveat. A signature loss is a starting hypothesis, not a diagnosis. Where a script does not show it, the honest response is to look harder rather than to force the evidence, and occasionally the answer is that the student is doing nothing wrong technically and simply has not covered two topics. That is a different plan with a longer timescale, and it should be said plainly rather than dressed up as technique work.

Remraam, South View School and the sixth-form question

  • South View School makes the IGCSE years local; the Diploma usually means moving
  • The step adds internal assessment, the core and independent working
  • Mathematics, chemistry and physics carry the largest subject-level jump
  • Ask the receiving school about subjects offered, option topics and entry thresholds

Remraam is unusual in this belt for having a secondary school close at hand. South View School sits near the community and takes students through Year 11, which makes the IGCSE years straightforward for families here in a way they are not for Mudon or Town Square. The Diploma question is different, because it generally means moving.

That move is the conversation that shapes tutoring demand from this community. A student finishing Year 11 locally and entering a Diploma at GEMS International School Al Khail, Fairgreen International or elsewhere is changing assessment systems as well as schools. IGCSE is examined, linear and content-dense; the Diploma adds internal assessment, the core components and the expectation of sustained independent work.

The subject-specific part of that step is larger than families expect in mathematics, chemistry and physics, where notation, mathematical demand and the requirement to justify all rise at once. Six to eight sessions across the summer between the two years, aimed at those specific gaps, converts a difficult first term into an ordinary one. That block has to be booked before results arrive if it is going to happen.

The administrative part is worth asking about early too: which Diploma subjects the receiving school actually offers, which option topics it teaches in the sciences, and what its entry thresholds are from an IGCSE profile. Those three answers shape both the subject choice and the first year of tutoring.

There is a practical timing point as well. Sixth-form applications in this market open well before Year 11 results, and several schools interview. A student who has thought about subject combinations, and can say why they want Higher Level in a particular subject, interviews better than one who has not, and that conversation costs nothing to have early.

08

Honesty, permits and the four questions worth asking

  • Which level and option, and how many cohorts of it?
  • Which papers or criteria have you marked?
  • What will you refuse to do with an assessment draft?
  • Do you hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit?
  • IB Gram holds no regulator permit and claims none

Two rules bound what any Diploma tutor should do. Assessed work must be the student's own, which means a tutor teaches, explains criteria, questions a method and marks a student's own draft, and never writes, completes, edits to completion or supplies text or data. One provider competing for these searches sells completed internal assessments; that is the offer to refuse, and it is worth saying so to the student as well as declining it yourself.

The second rule concerns board material. IB, Cambridge and Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables belong to their publishers. Sessions reference and link to the official pages rather than circulating copies, and nobody holds unreleased material whatever is claimed about examiner connections.

On the legal side, an individual giving private lessons in the UAE needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18, and MoHRE's own service listing shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Tutoring without it attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published.

The four questions that separate a useful tutor from a plausible one are short. Which level and option have you taught, and for how many cohorts. Which papers or criteria have you marked. What will you refuse to do with an internal assessment draft. Do you hold the private tuition permit. IB Gram holds no KHDA permit, no ADEK registration and no board affiliation, and will not describe its tutors using a regulator's name.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Remraam

Remraam sits among communities whose Diploma demand and school access differ noticeably, which changes what each one asks for.

Mudon

Villas and townhouses on the other side of Al Qudra Road, with no school inside the community at all. Diploma requests from there mirror Remraam's but start from a longer run.

Arabian Ranches 3

New villas with a young population, so most science requests are pre-Diploma and the Diploma questions are about subject choice rather than about rescue.

Dubai Investment Park

Immediately south along the same corridor, and where a share of the freelance tutors advertising to Remraam are based. Mostly IGCSE-level coverage.

Dubai Sports City

GEMS United School and Victory Heights Primary. Stadium-district congestion between four and six makes travel-based arrangements unreliable from here.

Town Square

A longer run than Remraam's in every direction, which pushes a realistic session past seven on a school night.

DAMAC Hills

Jebel Ali School sits inside that community and takes students through Year 11, so its Diploma families have usually moved a child elsewhere for sixth form.

Dubai Hills Estate

GEMS International School Al Khail and Kings' School Dubai Hills. One of the two realistic destinations for Remraam students entering a Diploma.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Name the subject, level, option and school

Four facts in one message. The subject and level decide the tutor; the option and school decide the material and the internal deadlines. Two Diploma students in Dubai studying nominally the same subject can be examined on different option content.

  2. 02

Attach one marked script or draft

A marked response paper, a returned investigation draft or a commentary with comments on it lets the first session confirm or rule out the group's signature loss within minutes instead of spending an hour on a generic diagnostic.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson with the subject tutor

Over live video, at no cost, before any payment, with the student doing most of the talking. The test afterwards is whether they can state their own error pattern in one sentence. If the lesson did not produce that, ask for a different tutor.

  4. 04

Fix a slot the Remraam evening can hold

Sessions sit on Gulf Standard Time around the run back along Al Qudra Road or Al Khail Road. A quarter past four suits students home early; after eight suits commuting households. The slot can move within the evening, or after Iftar during Ramadan, at no cost.

  5. 05

Review by component, not by feeling

Every four to six weeks the plan is checked against the internal deadline and against which component still holds recoverable marks. Session notes record the named error pattern and whether it has closed, so the review is short and factual.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The match is made on subject, not on range

Selecting by distance from Remraam means selecting from generalists based around Dubai Investment Park, Dubai Sports City and Motor City. Selecting by subject means selecting from people who have taught that level. At Higher Level that is the difference the grade responds to.

Each group is planned by where its marks sit

Sciences, mathematics, languages and the human sciences place their marks differently, and a plan shaped for one wastes hours in another. Knowing the signature loss for a group makes the first session fast and the first month targeted.

Internal assessment is treated as the live component

Papers can only be prepared for; the investigation, exploration or commentary is in front of the student now and has a deadline a family can still influence. Buying help earlier in Year 12 usually means buying less of it in total.

What a parent can check is published

Every AED band here is attributed to the provider or cost table that published it, and the questions worth asking a tutor are listed so they can be asked before money moves. Claims about experience are not checkable; claims about papers marked are.

The laboratory limit is stated outright

Online lessons cannot run an experiment. They prepare the design and interrogate the analysis and evaluation, which hold most of the investigation's criterion marks. Implying more would be easy to write and dishonest to sell.

Availability is disclosed, not discovered

Some combinations, including Further Mathematics at Higher Level and less-taught languages, are thin in every market. Where that applies you are told with a timescale or an alternative rather than matched with a generalist and left to find out.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Remraam: your questions answered

Will an IB tutor come to our apartment in Remraam?+

Not one arranged through IB Gram. Lessons are taught one-to-one over live video, and home visits are something IB Gram runs in India only. Visiting tutors do exist in Dubai and are quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel folded into the price, according to Bestimate's Dubai cost table and the rates independent home tutors publish. From Remraam the practical argument for the online route is selection: you choose a tutor who has taught Chemistry at Higher Level rather than whoever can reach Al Ramth by five.

Which Diploma component should we spend the first month on?+

Whichever internal component is currently open, in most cases. Papers are months away and can only be prepared for, while an investigation, exploration or set of commentaries sits in front of the student now with a deadline that is still movable. It also carries a meaningful share of the subject grade. A session interrogating a research question or an article choice before any writing is worth several spent improving a draft later, and it usually reduces how much tutoring is needed overall.

What is the signature mistake in Diploma sciences?+

The unstated step. A calculation is correct and the assumption behind it is never named. A conclusion is reached and the reasoning line is missing. An evaluation question receives a list of advantages with no judgement. The marks for those steps are separately available and the student usually knew the physics or chemistry involved. The repair is to plan two lines before writing any extended response, naming the science to be used and the assumption to be stated, then to self-mark against the published scheme until the habit holds.

My son is at a 4 in Chemistry HL. Where does the first session go?+

Into a marked script rather than a syllabus. A 4 at Higher Level is normally a pattern: equations left unbalanced, state symbols omitted where the scheme wanted them, mechanisms drawn with arrows from the wrong species, equilibrium answered qualitatively where a quantitative line was required. The session names the pattern and the next three attack it with timed questions from his own option, marked against the scheme, with annotated scripts going back to him. Marks on individual questions move before a predicted grade does.

Does the exploration in maths really need separate work?+

Yes, because three of its criteria are not about mathematics. Presentation, personal engagement and reflection are credited separately, and students pour effort into the mathematics while leaving those thin. A reflection that identifies a limitation in a model, and considers what would change if an assumption were relaxed, scores properly; one that says the topic was interesting does not. The mathematics does not need to be exotic to score well. It needs to be correct, clearly communicated and genuinely owned by the student.

How preparable is the Individual Oral?+

More than any other component in the Diploma, which is why it is worth prioritising. The student chooses a global issue and defends it using two extracts, so the entire shape of the assessment is known in advance. The work is choosing an issue that both extracts genuinely support, knowing those extracts in detail, and rehearsing aloud until the structure holds under questioning. Students who leave this to the fortnight before lose marks they could have banked months earlier with three or four sessions.

Why do Economics commentaries lose marks when the economics is right?+

Usually because of the article, or because diagrams are described rather than applied. The article is part of the assessment: too old, too long, or lacking the economics the student wants to apply, and the commentary is capped before it is written. On diagrams, a labelled curve shifted with an explanation tied to the named market earns marks; the same diagram described in general terms earns little. Choosing and rejecting candidate articles together is one of the most efficient sessions available in that subject.

Can online lessons support a science investigation without a laboratory?+

They support everything except the measuring, and the measuring carries the fewest marks. Before the practical, a session can interrogate the research question, test whether the method will produce a measurable relationship, name the variables needing control and anticipate the dominant uncertainty. Afterwards it can examine the raw data, check whether the chosen graph hides the relationship, work propagation on the student's own numbers and read the draft against each criterion. The experiment belongs to the school and its equipment, which this page states rather than glosses.

Is a tutor allowed to look at an internal assessment draft at all?+

Yes, as teaching and feedback on the student's own writing. A tutor can explain what each criterion rewards, ask the questions the descriptors imply, say that a method will not produce usable data, point out that a paragraph asserts rather than evidences, and mark the draft against the published descriptors. A tutor must not draft, rewrite, edit to completion, supply text or provide data the student did not collect. The work is authenticated by the teacher, and an authenticity finding can cost the Diploma rather than marks.

How does the step up from South View School to a Diploma feel?+

Larger in independence than in content. IGCSE is examined, linear and content-dense; the Diploma adds internal assessment in every subject, the core components, and the expectation that a student manages long-horizon work without being set exercises weekly. In mathematics, chemistry and physics the subject-level jump is also real, with notation, mathematical demand and the requirement to justify all rising at once. Six to eight sessions across the summer aimed at those specific gaps turns a difficult first term into an ordinary one.

Which questions actually tell us whether a tutor is any good?+

Specific ones. Which level and option have you taught, and for how many cohorts. Which papers or criteria have you marked. What will you refuse to do with an internal assessment draft. Do you hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which is free of charge, valid two years and issued in a stated two working days. Those four answers are checkable against the school and the regulator. A question about whether a tutor is experienced produces a sentence that cannot be verified by anyone.

What does a Higher Level Diploma tutor cost along this corridor?+

Specialists publish roughly AED 200 to 450 an hour and above, with TutorChase at AED 270 and Bestimate's Dubai cost table giving AED 200 to 450 or more, while premium examiner-led provision reaches AED 650 at BartyED. A qualified subject tutor working online sits at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200. In-home visits run AED 180 to 500 with travel inside the quote. These are published market figures with their sources named, not IB Gram prices, and a free trial comes before any payment.

Can one tutor take two subjects for the same Remraam student?+

Sometimes, and it is worth asking where the subjects share content. Physics and Analysis and Approaches overlap in calculus, vectors and graph interpretation, so one can reinforce the other. Chemistry and Biology share the science-group investigation criteria exactly, so coursework coaching transfers without relearning the assessment language. At Higher Level in two heavy subjects simultaneously the honest answer is often two tutors. Either way the scheduling is identical, since no travel has to be arranged between slots.

What if the subject or option we need is not covered?+

You are told, with a timescale or an alternative, rather than matched to a generalist. Common combinations such as Biology SL, Applications SL, English A and Business Management are usually covered within a few days of you naming subject, level, option and school. Narrower ones, including Further Mathematics at Higher Level, less-taught languages and certain option topics, can take a week or more, and occasionally the honest answer is that we cannot cover it well. Saying so loses a booking and prevents a wasted term.

Four facts and one script

From Remraam the useful first message contains four facts and one attachment: the subject, the level, the option the school teaches, the school itself, and one marked script or draft. That is enough for a tutor to confirm the group's signature loss in minutes and propose something specific. A free trial lesson over live video is arranged before any payment is taken, and if the match is wrong you say so and another tutor is proposed. Lessons are delivered online on Gulf Standard Time; home visits are a service IB Gram runs in India only.
