IGCSE Tutor near me in Pearl Jumeira

Looking for an IGCSE tutor near me in Pearl Jumeira produces a list sorted by distance and silent about price. This page sorts it the other way: from the cheapest published rate in Dubai upwards, saying what each band stops being able to do. The lowest advertised figures start around AED 33 an hour and the highest reach AED 650, and the useful question is not which is best but which one your child's actual problem requires. Teaching is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Pearl Jumeira

Reading the Dubai rate ladder from the bottom up

Almost every comparison of tutoring rates in this market starts at the premium end and works down, which flatters the expensive option. Start at the bottom instead, because that is where a family's money is genuinely at risk of being wasted and where the decisions are easiest to get wrong in both directions. The cheapest published online rates in Dubai are AED 33 to AED 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to AED 65 at EdFlik. Qualified online subject tutors are published at AED 150 to AED 300, with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150. In-home visits including travel are quoted at AED 180 to AED 500, with Bestimate's 2026 rate table putting the common range at AED 180 to AED 350. Specialists sit at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270. Premium examiner-branded providers reach AED 500 to AED 650, with BartyED at AED 650. Every figure there belongs to the provider named and was read in October 2026.

Read from the bottom, the ladder stops being about quality and becomes about capability. The AED 33 to AED 65 band buys somebody who can explain a textbook question and keep a fourteen-year-old working through the homework the school set. That is a real service and for a Year 9 student with a motivation problem it is the right purchase. What it does not reliably buy is somebody who can take a marked Cambridge 0580 Extended Paper 2, identify the two method marks lost on a reverse-percentage question, and design three weeks of work around them. Those are different jobs and only one of them needs the specialist rate.

The second thing the ladder conceals is subject count. A Year 11 student in this cluster sits eight or nine IGCSE subjects. Nothing in a rate card tells a parent how many of those should be funded, and the instinctive answer, all the weak ones, is usually wrong. A week filled with paid sessions removes the unsupervised practice time where the subjects are actually learned, and the effect is that nine partly-tutored subjects produce less than three properly-tutored ones.

The third is Pearl Jumeira itself. The island is reclaimed land off the Jumeirah 1 shoreline reached by a single causeway, which means in-home quotations here sit towards the top of the Dubai band for reasons that have nothing to do with teaching. A tutor crossing Al Wasl Road at the end of the school day and queueing onto the island spends thirty to fifty minutes each way, and that time is inside the hourly figure whether or not anybody itemises it. It is a distance premium presented in the same currency as a quality premium.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE, since in-home tutoring is a service offered only in India. Pearl Jumeira families are taught one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. On a page about cost the honest version of that is simple arithmetic: nothing in the rate pays for the causeway, and the band a family ends up in is determined by what the work requires rather than by where they live.

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The costings on this page apply to the qualifications Pearl Jumeira students actually sit between 14 and 19. These are the three stages a budget has to cover.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Eight or nine subjects over two years, tiered as Core and Extended at Cambridge or Foundation and Higher at Pearson. The tier decision sets a grade ceiling before teaching begins, which makes it the single most financially consequential choice in the course and the one worth paying for advice on.

UK curriculum schools accounted for 37 per cent of Dubai private school enrolment in 2024-25, across 227 schools and 387,441 students. That depth is why the general IGCSE tutoring market is large and why rates at the middle of the ladder do not reliably distinguish a subject specialist from a capable generalist. The distinction has to be established by asking, not by paying more.

A Level and DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Post-16 routes after IGCSE

Most students in this cluster continue to A Level or the IB Diploma, and entry to the harder routes is usually conditioned on Extended or Higher tier grades. Money spent on IGCSE in Year 10 is partly spent on keeping those routes open rather than on the certificate itself.

The Diploma accounted for 7 per cent of Dubai enrolment in 2024-25. A family planning for both stages should know that tutoring rates at post-16 level sit higher and supply of genuine Higher Level experience is thinner, which is an argument for front-loading spend into IGCSE rather than saving it for later.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

IB Middle Years Programme

The alternative route to 16 at continuum schools nearby, assessed against four criteria per subject rather than terminal papers. Tutoring here tends to be cheaper in total because a single targeted hour on one criterion usually does the work.

Families comparing schools on this island sometimes end up choosing between the two models mid-course. A transfer into an IGCSE Year 11 cohort costs roughly a term of work on paper convention and timed recall, which at published middle-band rates is a few thousand dirhams and is far cheaper done in the preceding summer.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

A Year 11 student sits eight or nine subjects and almost no family should fund eight or nine. These are the subjects Pearl Jumeira households most often pay for, with an honest note on how much tutoring each tends to need.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580; Pearson 4MA1

The most funded subject and usually the right first choice, because it is compulsory, it gates post-16 options, and gaps compound. Needs a standing weekly hour rather than a block, which makes it the largest single line in most budgets here.

Physics

Cambridge 0625; Pearson 4PH1

Tends to need help with calculation technique rather than content, which is a short, well-defined job. Frequently resolvable in a block of six to eight sessions rather than a two-year booking, provided the diagnosis is accurate.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620; Pearson 4CH1

Stoichiometry is where the grade separates, and it is procedural. A funded term aimed specifically at moles, limiting reagent and percentage yield is usually better value than year-long general support.

Biology

Cambridge 0610; Pearson 4BI1

Content-heavy and recall-dependent, which means it responds to frequent short contact. Often the subject where a cheaper band is genuinely adequate, because the task is testing and consolidation rather than diagnosis.

English Language

Cambridge and Pearson specifications

Improves with marked writing rather than with explanation, so the useful arrangement is fewer sessions with real writing between them. Over-funded more often than any other subject in this community.

English Literature

Cambridge and Pearson specifications

Text-specific, which means a tutor must have taught the set texts the school has chosen. Ask about the texts before the rate; a mismatch here wastes more money than a higher hourly figure would.

Economics and Business Studies

Cambridge and Pearson specifications

Command terms carry the grade and students write knowledge where evaluation is wanted. A bounded problem that responds to a handful of sessions, which makes it a poor candidate for a standing weekly booking.

Co-ordinated Sciences

Cambridge 0654 double award

One tutor across all three disciplines rather than three specialists, which is a significant saving families frequently miss. Engaging three subject tutors for a 0654 candidate is one of the clearest overspends in this market.

Computer Science and ICT

Cambridge and Pearson specifications

Specifications have been revised in recent years, so an out-of-date tutor is hard to detect and expensive to discover. Worth paying the middle band here for somebody current rather than the cheapest available.

Arabic as a first or additional language

Cambridge and Pearson specifications, alongside KHDA requirements

Sits beside the KHDA mandatory subject requirement. Teachers of Arabic in Dubai schools need appropriate KHDA approval for the subject, and additional content requires prior Ministry permission, which limits how tutoring here can be described.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three spending patterns cover almost every IGCSE budget on this island. All teaching is one-to-one over live video.

One subject, weekly, from Year 10

A single standing weekly hour in the subject that gates the most options, normally mathematics, held from the start of Year 10. This is the lowest total-cost arrangement across the two-year course, because it prevents compounding rather than repairing it.

  • One subject, one fixed slot, two years
  • Roughly seventy hours across the course
  • Hours taper in the final weeks on purpose
  • Tutor matched to the exact code and tier

Diagnosed blocks for other subjects

Six to eight sessions aimed at a specific named problem in a second or third subject, bought after a marked mock shows what it is, and stopped when it is fixed. Most non-maths subjects need this rather than a standing booking.

  • Triggered by a marked paper, not by a report grade
  • Topic list with approximate mark values attached
  • Fixed length, agreed before it starts
  • Ends when the diagnosis is resolved

Budget-band support for consolidation

Where the task is momentum, homework routine or testing recall rather than diagnosis, the cheaper band of the market is the honest choice. Paying specialist rates for supervision is the most common overspend in this community, and saying so is more useful than selling it.

  • Suits Years 7 to 9 and recall-heavy consolidation
  • Published market rates from AED 33-65 exist for this
  • Not suitable for mark-scheme diagnosis
  • Reviewed each term against marked work

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Pearl Jumeira

01

The ladder, cheapest first, and what each band stops being able to do

The table reads from the lowest published rate upwards. The right-hand column is the one to read first, because it names what the band cannot do rather than what it claims. All figures belong to the providers named and were read in October 2026, and none is an IB Gram price list.

Two transitions on this ladder matter and the rest are marketing. The first is between the budget band and the qualified subject band, somewhere around AED 150. Below it you are buying explanation and supervision; above it you are buying teaching against a named syllabus code. For a Year 11 student twelve weeks from a series, that transition is the whole decision, and paying below it is a false economy of exactly the kind that looks sensible on a spreadsheet.

The second is between the qualified band and the specialist band, somewhere around AED 270. That one is worth paying only for specific work: converting a marked paper into a diagnosis, rebuilding non-calculator technique, or moving a strong candidate from a grade 7 to a grade 8 or 9 where the remaining marks are all technique. For general subject teaching the qualified band is adequate and the specialist premium buys very little.

The premium band at AED 500 to AED 650 is a different product again, and it is honest to say that most families in this community do not need it. It prices reputation and scarcity. There are situations where that is rational, usually involving a narrow subject with almost no supply, and there are many more where it is a parent buying reassurance at four times the rate that would have done the job.

02

What you actually give up at the bottom of the ladder

  • The budget band buys momentum, presence and recall testing
  • It cannot convert a marked script into a costed topic list
  • One specialist diagnostic hour plus cheaper ongoing support is often best value
  • Close to a series, the cheaper band stops being adequate

This deserves its own section because the cheap band is both underrated and misused. Underrated, because a great deal of what families need is not diagnosis. Misused, because it gets bought for the one job it cannot do.

What the AED 33 to AED 65 band does well is presence and momentum. A student who will not start their homework will start it with somebody on a call. A student who needs biology definitions tested will have them tested. A Year 8 student who has drifted in maths will be pulled back by somebody competent working through the textbook. For all of that, paying four times the rate adds nothing, and a family who does so has not bought better teaching, only a more expensive version of the same service.

What the band cannot do is read a marked Extended past paper and tell you that your child is losing marks because they are not writing the method line before the answer, that this costs roughly four marks a paper, and that three weeks of specific work will recover most of it. That requires somebody who has marked those papers against the published scheme and knows what the examiner awards. It is a genuinely different skill and it is the thing the middle and specialist bands are selling.

The practical rule is to match the band to the task rather than to the stage. In Year 10, with time available and no diagnosis in hand, the cheaper band plus one specialist diagnostic hour is frequently the best value arrangement in the whole market. In the twelve weeks before a series, with marks to recover and little time, it is not.

03

How many of eight or nine subjects should actually be funded

This is the question that moves more money than the hourly rate does, and almost nobody addresses it. A Year 11 student sits eight or nine IGCSE subjects. A parent looking at a report with four weak grades feels the obvious answer is four tutors. The obvious answer is wrong, for two reasons that compound.

The first is the week. School in this cluster ends between about 2:45pm and 3:30pm, the causeway approach and the drive home take thirty to forty-five minutes, activity programmes run to roughly 6pm, and useful work stops around 8:30pm on a school night. That leaves two, at most three, tutored hours a week before unsupervised study time starts disappearing. Four standing bookings do not fit into that week; they displace the practice where subjects are actually learned.

The second is that weak grades frequently share a cause. Four subjects losing marks on extended response questions is one problem about writing to the mark allocation, not four subject problems. Four subjects losing marks on calculation is one problem about quantitative technique. A single diagnostic hour across the marked scripts will usually show which, and when it does, the budget halves and the outcome improves.

The table below sets out a spending sequence that fits a real week. It is deliberately conservative, because the pattern that produces the best results in this community is one well-funded subject, one diagnosed block, and nothing else. Families who fund more than that generally report the same outcome: more sessions attended, the same marks, and a student with no time to think.

Group classes, one-to-one, and where the saving actually is

Small group tuition is presented as the budget alternative to one-to-one and it sometimes is. Whether it is depends entirely on what the student needs, and the distinction is sharper than the marketing suggests.

A group works when the content is the same for everybody and the task is exposition. A session walking four Year 10 students through Cambridge 0580 Extended trigonometry is a genuinely efficient use of a teacher, and splitting the cost is a real saving rather than a compromise. A group also works for recall testing, where the competitive element helps, and for timed paper practice followed by shared mark-scheme discussion.

A group fails when the task is diagnostic. Four students lose marks in four different places, and an hour divided four ways is fifteen minutes each on the thing that matters to them. This is why group classes are often good value in Year 10 and poor value in the term before a series, when the remaining gains are individual. Families who switch at the right point get the saving without the cost.

There is a second consideration that cost comparisons miss. Tuition-centre group classes in Dubai are delivered by organisations with premises, which is a different legal category from an individual tutor. An operation with premises and staff requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, obtained with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. That is a specific permit for a specific kind of business, and it is a reasonable thing for a parent to ask about before enrolling a child in a centre.

05

The cost nobody includes: exam entry, retakes and the calendar

  • UAE candidates sit June and November; the February/March series is India-only
  • Pearson runs May/June and November
  • November results reached students on 22 January 2026, so a resit delays a grade by months
  • Cambridge zone timetables differ; using the wrong one is the school's zone to confirm

A tutoring budget that ignores the examination calendar will be wrong by the amount of one resit, and families regularly discover this in August. Setting the dates out properly also happens to be something no competitor page in this search does.

UAE candidates sit Cambridge in the June series and the November series. The February/March series is offered to India only, so any February or March dates quoted to a Dubai family should be disregarded entirely. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and in November. Entries are made months before the papers, by the school, and they carry fees that appear on a school bill rather than a tutoring one.

Checkable reference points help with planning. For Pearson, the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026; June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026; November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those are backward-looking citations that give the shape of a year reliably, though the live official timetable is what should be checked before acting, since provisional timetables get revised.

There is also a Cambridge administrative point with a real cost attached. Every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, the timetable differs by zone, and Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone timetable. A revision plan built from the wrong timetable is money spent against the wrong dates. Ask the school which zone it sits in. The practical budgeting consequence of all this is to hold a reserve: a November resit decided in August needs funding in September, and the result then arrives the following January rather than in the summer.

06

Tutoring cost in the context of a Dubai school bill

Tutoring is one line in a larger education budget, and in Dubai the rest of that budget has recently been unusually stable. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within an AED 2.5 billion total.

The wider market continues to expand. Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering seventeen different curricula, with the UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian at 26 per cent, US at 14 per cent and the International Baccalaureate at 7 per cent. The 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, after six openings during 2025-26 and a 6 per cent rise in enrolment.

Two consequences follow for a family on this island. A stable fee position means a tutoring budget can be set across the two IGCSE years rather than revised annually, which favours the steady weekly arrangement over reactive block-buying when a report arrives. And a market with deep UK curriculum supply means plenty of available tutors and no reliable price signal distinguishing those who have taught your child's specification from those who have taught the subject, which is why the questions matter more than the rate.

The last point about context is proportion. Against school fees, a weekly hour at the middle band across two IGCSE years is a modest addition. Against the same two years funded at four standing bookings and specialist rates, it is not, and the second arrangement does not produce proportionally better results. The expensive mistake in this market is rarely the hourly rate; it is the number of hours bought and the time they take away from the student's own practice.

07

Checking who you are paying, which costs nothing

  • The MoHRE permit is free of charge and valid for two years
  • Introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023
  • Two working days to complete through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services
  • No published fine amounts, so quoted figures cannot be substantiated

Before money changes hands there is one free set of checks worth running, and it takes two questions. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 Regarding the Introduction of Private Tuition Work Permits, and it is granted free of charge for two years.

Because there is no fee, a missing permit is a decision rather than an obstacle, and eligibility is broad: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. MoHRE lists the service as Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, with no fees stated and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and since no fine schedule has been published, a specific amount quoted at you cannot be substantiated by anybody.

The second question concerns who may teach whom. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. So the parent asks whether a permit is held, and whether their child attends the school where the person teaches.

A final point on money and claims. No tutor should be promising a grade, a specific improvement or any guaranteed outcome, and no refund tied to a result should be offered, because nobody can honestly stand behind it. A provider publishing a satisfaction percentage, a star rating or a success statistic without stating the sample size, the date and the method is publishing a number that cannot be checked. Those are the signals to weigh alongside the rate, and all of them are free to examine.

Where we tutor

Pearl Jumeira and the communities around it

Pearl Jumeira is an island community reached by a single causeway from the Jumeirah 1 shoreline. The rate arithmetic here applies along the coastal strip, with the island at the expensive end of the in-home band.

Pearl Jumeira

Villa plots on reclaimed land with one access road. In-home quotations sit towards the top of the Dubai range here, and the reason is the causeway rather than anything about the teaching.

Jumeirah 1

The mainland district the causeway feeds into. Identical tutoring is often quoted a little lower here, which is the cleanest available measure of how much of a rate is distance.

LA Mer

The beachfront development immediately south, in the same school cluster. Same subject mix, same specifications, no island approach, and slightly lower in-home quotations as a result.

Jumeirah 2

Larger villa plots inland with many British-curriculum families. Maths is the most requested subject and the specification is split between Cambridge and Pearson schools within a few streets.

City Walk

Dense low-rise apartments across Al Wasl Road. Visitor registration and basement parking are the apartment version of the causeway, and they are priced the same way.

Al Wasl

The corridor every inbound tutor crosses twice. Thirty to fifty minutes each way in the late afternoon, which is the unpaid time sitting inside an in-home hourly rate.

Jumeirah 3

Towards Umm Suqeim, with longer internal drives. Online rates do not vary across any of these communities, which is the point of including them on a cost page.

Umm Suqeim

Several large British-curriculum schools and the deepest general tutoring market on this stretch. Deep enough that price alone tells a parent almost nothing about specialism.

School ecosystem

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Buy the diagnostic hour before anything else

One session at the specialist band spent reading marked scripts across subjects, producing a topic list with approximate mark values. It frequently shows that four weak subjects share one cause, which halves the budget and improves the result. It is the hour families almost never buy first.

  2. 02

Fund mathematics weekly from Year 10

A standing weekly hour in the subject that is compulsory, gates post-16 routes and compounds when neglected. About seventy hours across the two years at the qualified band, which is less in total than the compressed alternative most families end up buying in Year 11.

  3. 03

    Take the free trial lesson

A full session at no charge, taught rather than pitched, with the student. The tutor works from recent marked work and begins teaching. One trial lesson per student, before any booking is made; if the match is wrong, say so and nothing is owed.

  4. 04

Buy other subjects as fixed blocks

Six to eight sessions against a named problem, agreed in advance and ended when it is fixed. Most non-maths subjects need this rather than a standing booking, and converting standing bookings into blocks is where the largest saving in this market sits.

  5. 05

Match the band to the task, not to the year

Where the job is momentum, homework routine or recall testing, the published budget band exists and is honest about what it provides. Where the job is reading a mark scheme, it is not adequate. We will say which one a request actually needs, including when that means spending less.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Rates listed cheapest first, with sources

Every figure on this page is attributed to the provider that published it and dated to when it was read. Three of the six pages ranking for these searches publish no price at all and two quote US dollars, which is not the currency a Dubai family transacts in.

What each band cannot do, stated plainly

The useful information on a rate ladder is where the capability changes, not where the prestige does. Two transitions matter in this market and the rest is positioning, and saying which is more helpful than recommending the top of the ladder.

Advice on subject count, not just rate

The decision that moves most money is how many of eight or nine subjects get funded. Four weak grades usually share one cause, and a diagnostic hour that halves a budget is doing its job even though it reduces what we sell.

No travel inside the rate

Teaching is one-to-one over live video, so nothing in the hourly figure covers the causeway approach or the crossing of Al Wasl Road at the end of the school day. Online rates are identical across every community on this stretch of coast.

Honest about the cheaper band

Where the task is supervision or recall testing, the published AED 33 to AED 65 band is the appropriate purchase and we will say so. Selling specialist hours for homework company is the most common overspend in this community.

No guarantees and no unverifiable numbers

No grade, improvement or outcome is promised, and no refund is tied to a result, because nobody can honestly stand behind one. Any provider publishing a success statistic without a sample size, a date and a method is publishing a number that cannot be checked.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Pearl Jumeira: your questions answered

What is the cheapest realistic rate for an IGCSE tutor in Dubai?+

The lowest published figures are AED 33 to AED 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to AED 65 at EdFlik, both online. That band is honest about what it provides: explanation, homework momentum and recall testing. It is the right purchase for a Year 8 or 9 student who has drifted, and the wrong one twelve weeks before a series, because it cannot reliably read a marked Extended past paper against the published mark scheme and tell you which method marks were lost and what they cost.

Where on the Dubai rate ladder does the capability actually change?+

At two points. Around AED 150 the purchase shifts from explanation and supervision to teaching against a named syllabus code, which is the transition that matters most for a Year 11 student. Around AED 270 it shifts again to mark-scheme level work: converting a marked script into a costed diagnosis, rebuilding non-calculator technique, or moving a strong candidate from a 7 to an 8 or 9. Everything above that prices reputation and scarcity rather than a further capability.

Is the AED 650 premium band ever worth paying for IGCSE?+

Occasionally, and less often than it is paid. BartyED publishes AED 650 at the premium end. It is rational where a subject has almost no supply and the alternative is nobody, or where a very specific niche within a specification is involved. For general subject teaching it buys nothing the qualified or specialist bands do not, and in this community most of what it sells is reassurance at roughly four times the rate that would have done the work.

Why are tutors more expensive for Pearl Jumeira than for Jumeirah 1?+

Because of the causeway. The island is reclaimed land reached by a single access road from the Jumeirah 1 shoreline, so a visiting tutor crosses Al Wasl Road at the end of the school day and then queues onto the island, thirty to fifty minutes each way in the late afternoon. That unpaid time is inside the hourly figure whether or not it is itemised. Identical tutoring quoted a few streets inland is often lower, which is the cleanest measure of how much of a rate is distance.

How many of my child's nine IGCSE subjects should we pay for?+

Usually one standing booking plus one diagnosed block, and almost never four. School here ends between 2:45pm and 3:30pm, the drive home takes thirty to forty-five minutes, activities run to about 6pm and useful work stops around 8:30pm. That leaves two or three tutored hours before unsupervised practice time disappears, and unsupervised practice is where subjects are learned. Four weak grades also frequently share one cause, which a single diagnostic hour across the marked scripts will reveal.

What is the single best-value hour in an IGCSE tutoring budget?+

A diagnostic session at the specialist band, bought first, spent reading marked scripts across several subjects and producing a topic list with approximate mark values attached. It costs AED 270 to AED 450 once and it regularly halves what follows, because it distinguishes four subject problems from one shared problem such as writing to the mark allocation or quantitative technique. It is also the hour families least often buy, because it does not feel like progress until the list arrives.

Are small group IGCSE classes better value than one-to-one?+

For exposition, yes. Walking four Year 10 students through Cambridge 0580 Extended trigonometry is an efficient use of a teacher and splitting the cost is a genuine saving. For diagnosis, no: four students lose marks in four different places, and an hour divided four ways gives each fifteen minutes on what matters to them. The sensible pattern is group work in Year 10 and one-to-one in the term before the series, which captures the saving without paying for it in results.

Does a tuition centre need a different permit from an individual tutor?+

Yes, and it is reasonable to ask. An individual tutor needs the MoHRE private tutor work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. An operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal category and requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, obtained with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry.

Should we budget for a November resit from the start?+

Holding a reserve is sensible rather than pessimistic. UAE candidates sit Cambridge in June and November, and Pearson Edexcel runs May/June and November, so a resit route exists. The timing is what needs planning: a decision taken in August needs funding in September, and the grade then arrives months later. Pearson's November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, which gives the shape. Confirm current deadlines with the school's exams officer rather than relying on any website.

Could a revision plan be built against the wrong exam timetable?+

Yes, and it is an avoidable waste of money. Every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, the timetable differs by zone, and Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone timetable. Ask the school which zone it sits in and make sure any tutor planning a revision schedule is working from that version rather than one found through a search.

Does Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 need three separate science tutors?+

No, and engaging three is one of the clearest overspends available in this market. 0654 is a double award: one set of papers covers biology, chemistry and physics and produces two grades, with a longer combined theory paper and a practical component at 20 per cent. The depth in each discipline is shallower than in the separate sciences. What the student needs is one tutor comfortable across all three at the level the combined paper demands, which is a third of the cost of three specialists.

Are Dubai school fees going up, and does that affect tutoring plans?+

KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within an AED 2.5 billion total. For a tutoring budget that stability is genuinely useful, because it means a two-year figure can be set in advance rather than revised each year, which favours a steady weekly arrangement from Year 10 over reactive block-buying whenever a report arrives.

Should I trust a tutoring company that publishes a success rate?+

Not without the sample size, the date and the method on the same page. A satisfaction percentage, a star rating or a pass statistic published without those three things is a number nobody can check, and the competitor audit for this market found pages showing different review totals in different places on the same page. No grade or improvement can honestly be guaranteed either, and no refund should be tied to a result. Those signals are free to examine and more informative than the rate.

Does IB Gram charge more for coming to Pearl Jumeira?+

The question does not arise, because IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE. In-home tutoring is a service offered only in India. Pearl Jumeira families are taught one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so nothing in the rate covers the causeway approach, and the figure is identical whether a family lives on the island, in Jumeirah 1 or further along the coast. On a cost page that is the most relevant thing about the delivery model.

Diagnose first, fund one subject properly, and match the band to the job

The money in this market is lost on the number of hours bought rather than on the rate paid for them. Spend one specialist hour reading marked scripts before committing to anything, because four weak subjects usually share one cause. Fund mathematics weekly from Year 10, which is the cheapest route across the two years. Buy other subjects as fixed blocks against a named problem, and use the published budget band where the task is genuinely supervision. Take the free trial lesson first. Teaching is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with no travel inside the rate.
