IGCSE Science Tutor in Pearl Jumeira

Hiring an IGCSE science tutor in Pearl Jumeira is rarely one decision. It is three, because biology, chemistry and physics arrive as separate subjects with separate problems and separate invoices. This page works out what funding one, two or three of them actually costs per month at Dubai market rates, which syllabus choice halves the bill, and which 20 per cent of the grade is the cheapest to recover. Teaching is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Pearl Jumeira

Three sciences, and the arithmetic nobody does before booking

Science is the only part of an IGCSE timetable that can triple a tutoring bill without anybody deciding to spend three times as much. It happens by accretion. Physics looks shaky in October, so a tutor is engaged. Chemistry comes back badly in the December assessment, so a second is added. By February biology has been neglected because the week is full, so a third appears. Nobody chose a three-tutor arrangement; it assembled itself, and the monthly figure at the end of it is two or three times what a deliberate plan would have cost.

The figures are worth having in front of you before that happens. Published online rates for a qualified subject tutor in Dubai are AED 150 to AED 300 an hour, with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150 and TutorChase AED 270 for specialist work. In-home visits including travel are quoted at AED 180 to AED 500, with Bestimate's 2026 rate table putting the common range at AED 180 to AED 350. Budget online options start at AED 33 to AED 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to AED 65 at EdFlik. Monthly packages appear at roughly AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four in-home visits of two hours. Each figure belongs to the provider named and was read in October 2026; none is an IB Gram price list.

Multiply the middle of that range by three subjects across two academic years and the number stops being incidental. One weekly hour per science at AED 200 is roughly AED 2,600 a month during term time, and something close to AED 50,000 across Years 10 and 11. The same commitment in two sciences is two thirds of that, and in one science with a diagnosed block in a second it is under half. Those are materially different decisions and most families make them without seeing the comparison.

Two specific facts change the arithmetic more than any negotiation on rate. The first is which specification the school uses: Cambridge Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 is a double award covering all three disciplines in one set of papers, which means one tutor rather than three. Families who hire three specialists for a 0654 candidate are spending triple for no additional coverage, and this is among the most common and most expensive misunderstandings in this market. The second is the practical component, worth 20 per cent on Cambridge separate and Co-ordinated Sciences, which is the same small skill set in all three subjects and therefore the only part of the syllabus where one paid hour genuinely counts three times.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE, since in-home tutoring is a service offered only in India. Pearl Jumeira families are taught one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. On a cost page the relevant consequence is that nothing in the rate covers the causeway onto the island, and that a session can switch from physics to chemistry between one week and the next without a second person having to be found and paid to make the same journey.

At a glance

  • Three weekly hours at mid-range rates approaches AED 50,000 across two years
  • Cambridge 0654 is a double award, so one tutor covers all three disciplines
  • The practical component is 20 per cent and the same skills in all three sciences
  • Published monthly packages: about AED 799 online, AED 1,599-1,799 in-home
  • Online rates do not vary with the causeway
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The costings here apply across the stages a Pearl Jumeira science student passes through. These are the three that matter to a budget.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Sciences

Taken either as three separate sciences or as a co-ordinated double award. Cambridge separate sciences tier into Core and Extended and carry a practical component at 20 per cent, taken as Paper 5 or Paper 6. Pearson Edexcel runs Foundation and Higher tier with practical skills assessed inside the written papers.

For MoE equivalency on the British track a student must pass five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic Education excluded from the five. A double award in Co-ordinated Sciences contributes two of those five from one set of papers, which makes 0654 a budget decision as well as a timetable one.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme Sciences

One of the post-16 routes. Diploma sciences front-load quantitative work and carry a scientific investigation worth 20 per cent, and entry to Higher Level is typically conditioned on a strong Extended or Higher tier result.

Post-16 tutoring rates sit higher than IGCSE rates and Higher Level science supply in Dubai is thinner, particularly in chemistry. That is an argument for spending at IGCSE rather than saving for later: the cheaper stage is also the one that determines which post-16 courses remain available.

A LevelAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

A Level Sciences

Offered by most British-curriculum schools in this cluster. Entry usually requires a strong Extended or Higher tier grade in the relevant science, and the step up assumes quantitative fluency rather than teaching it again.

Several schools serving this island set grade thresholds at IGCSE for A Level science entry. A family deciding how much to spend in Year 10 is therefore deciding how many post-16 options stay open, which is a different calculation from deciding how much a certificate is worth.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Funding decisions are easier when the cost centre is named rather than the subject. These are the science topics Pearl Jumeira families most often pay for, with a note on whether each needs a standing booking or a block.

Physics: electricity and circuits

Core and Extended

The most requested single science topic in this cluster. Students recite the rules and fail unfamiliar circuit diagrams, which is a practice problem. Resolvable in a block of four to six sessions rather than a standing weekly booking.

Physics: forces, motion and energy calculations

Core and Extended

Rearranging before substituting is the real skill, and it is mathematics rather than physics. Worth diagnosing before funding, because a maths intervention may serve two sciences at once.

Chemistry: moles and stoichiometry

Extended mainly

The clearest dividing line between a middling and a strong Extended grade, and purely procedural. A funded term aimed specifically at limiting reagent and percentage yield beats a year of general chemistry support.

Chemistry: organic chemistry and reaction types

Core and Extended

Recall volume rather than conceptual difficulty, which means it responds to frequent short testing. One of the subjects where the published budget band is genuinely adequate for the task.

Chemistry: salt preparation and separation methods

Core and Extended

Practical detail that the practical and alternative-to-practical papers probe directly: which method, which observation, how a product is separated. Cheap marks for anybody who rehearses the methods.

Biology: transport, respiration and photosynthesis

Core and Extended

High mark density and precise language. Students who know the biology lose marks by giving correct ideas in the wrong order, which a marked script reveals in minutes and a block of sessions fixes.

Biology: genetics and inheritance

Core and Extended

Punnett squares, ratios and vocabulary, procedural once the convention is learned. Among the most reliably recoverable marks in the whole science timetable and rarely worth premium rates.

Biology: human physiology and homeostasis

Extended mainly

Negative feedback and hormonal control, where the loss is describing what happens without naming the controlling mechanism. A short, well-defined problem rather than a general weakness.

Practical skills and experimental design

Cambridge Paper 5 or Paper 6; within written papers for Pearson

Twenty per cent of the grade on Cambridge separate and Co-ordinated Sciences, and the same skills in all three subjects. The single best value target in any science tutoring budget.

Graph and data handling across all three sciences

Core and Extended

Plotting, lines of best fit, reading intercepts and describing trends in mark-scheme language. One hour here pays in biology, chemistry and physics simultaneously, which is the definition of efficient spending.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three spending patterns cover almost every science budget on this island. All teaching is one-to-one over live video.

One shared skills hour

A single weekly hour on the skills assessed across all three sciences: graph plotting, lines of best fit, identifying variables, reading instruments, evaluating a method and writing to the mark allocation. The most efficient science spending available, because one hour serves three subjects.

  • Covers Cambridge Paper 5 and Paper 6 demands
  • Applies to biology, chemistry and physics at once
  • Past practical questions marked against the scheme
  • One hourly rate rather than three

One diagnosed block at a time

Six to eight sessions in one science against a named problem drawn from a marked script, then stopped. Running blocks sequentially rather than three bookings in parallel is where the largest saving in this market sits, and it fits the week as well.

  • Triggered by a marked paper, not a report grade
  • Fixed length agreed before it begins
  • Topic list with approximate mark values attached
  • Ends when the diagnosis is resolved

Budget-band consolidation

Where the task is recall testing or homework momentum rather than diagnosis, the published cheaper band of the market is the honest choice. Biology in particular often needs testing rather than teaching, and paying specialist rates for that is a straightforward overspend.

  • Suits recall-heavy biology and chemistry revision
  • Published market rates from AED 33-65 exist for this
  • Not suitable for mark-scheme diagnosis
  • Reviewed each term against marked work

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Pearl Jumeira

01

What one, two and three sciences actually cost

The table puts the arithmetic in one place, using the published market bands rather than any price of ours. It is a planning tool: the figures show the shape of a commitment rather than a quotation, and the point is the comparison between rows rather than any individual number.

Two things stand out. The first is how quickly parallel bookings scale. Three standing weekly hours at the middle of the published range is roughly AED 2,600 a month in term time and approaches AED 50,000 across the two IGCSE years. That is not a small line in a household budget, and almost nobody arrives at it deliberately. It arrives one subject at a time, each addition looking reasonable on its own.

The second is how much cheaper sequential blocks are than parallel bookings. Running one diagnosed block at a time, six to eight sessions each, with a shared skills hour running underneath, covers the same three sciences for well under half the parallel figure. It also fits the week, which parallel bookings do not: a Year 11 student in this cluster has two or at most three tutored hours available before unsupervised study time starts disappearing, and unsupervised practice is where science is consolidated.

The third row worth reading twice is the 0654 row. If the school enters for Cambridge Co-ordinated Sciences, one tutor covers all three disciplines, and the whole three-subject arithmetic collapses into a single-subject arithmetic. Families who have engaged three specialists for a 0654 candidate have spent triple for no additional coverage, and the fix costs nothing beyond asking the school which code appears on the entry statement.

Why the syllabus code is a budget document

The most consequential cost question in science tutoring is not what a tutor charges. It is which specification the school entered your child for, because the answer determines how many tutors are needed and whether a practical paper exists at all. It takes one email to the department and it is printed on the exam entry statement.

Cambridge separate sciences, Biology 0610, Chemistry 0620 and Physics 0625, each produce their own grade and go deepest in each discipline. All three include a practical component worth 20 per cent, entered either as Paper 5, a practical test with apparatus, or Paper 6, the alternative to practical answered in writing. A student taking all three separately may genuinely need subject-specific help in more than one of them, which is the expensive case.

Cambridge Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 is a different proposition. It is a double award: one set of papers covering biology, chemistry and physics produces two grades, with a longer combined theory paper and the same practical component at 20 per cent. Depth in each discipline is shallower than in the separate sciences. What a 0654 student needs is one tutor comfortable moving across all three at the level the combined paper demands, which costs a third of three specialists. Combined Science 0653 is the single-award version and works the same way for budgeting purposes.

Pearson Edexcel sciences change the picture again. Biology 4BI1, Chemistry 4CH1 and Physics 4PH1 each have two written papers at Foundation or Higher tier, with practical skills assessed inside those papers rather than in a separate component. For a family budgeting against the practical paper that matters: there is no Paper 5 or Paper 6 to prepare for, so the cheapest high-value target described later on this page does not exist in the same form, and the hours are better spent on long written questions instead.

The cheapest 20 per cent in the whole science timetable

  • Twenty per cent of the grade on Cambridge separate and Co-ordinated Sciences
  • A small, learnable skill set rather than content
  • No apparatus required for either Paper 5 or Paper 6 preparation
  • The same skills apply across all three sciences, so one hour counts three times

On Cambridge separate sciences and Co-ordinated Sciences, the practical component carries 20 per cent of the grade. In a crowded Year 11 timetable it is also the component schools have least room to rehearse. That combination makes it the best value target available in a science budget, for a reason that is arithmetic rather than rhetorical.

What the practical and alternative-to-practical papers assess is a small and learnable set of skills. Reading a scale to the correct precision. Identifying independent, dependent and controlled variables in an unfamiliar method. Spotting the flaw in a described procedure. Proposing a specific improvement rather than suggesting greater care. Plotting a graph with sensible axes, drawing a line of best fit through scattered points, and reading a value off it. Describing a trend in the language the mark scheme rewards. That is most of it.

None of it needs apparatus. The alternative to practical paper is written, and the practical test rewards a student who knows what the examiner is looking for considerably more than one who has handled the equipment a few extra times. An hour spent marking past practical questions against the published scheme routinely moves a student further than an hour revising content they already half know.

The budget point is the multiplier. These are the same skills in biology, chemistry and physics, so one weekly hour on them serves three subjects. For a family with three sciences and a realistic ceiling of two tutored hours a week, this is the only part of the syllabus where a single hourly rate buys three subjects' worth of improvement. It is also the clearest case in this market where the efficient purchase and the cheap purchase are the same thing.

04

The four ways science tutoring money disappears

Overspending on science support in this community is rarely about the hourly rate. It is about buying the wrong arrangement, and the same four patterns recur.

The first is three parallel bookings. It happens by accretion rather than decision, it triples the monthly figure, and it displaces the unsupervised practice where science is actually consolidated. A Year 11 student here has two or at most three tutored hours available in a week that ends with school at 3:30pm, a causeway crossing, and activities until six. Three bookings do not fit; one of them quietly stops happening, usually the one scheduled latest, and the family keeps paying attention to a plan that has already collapsed.

The second is paying specialist rates for recall testing. A great deal of biology support is somebody testing definitions and keeping a student working, which is valuable and is not worth AED 300 an hour. The published budget band at AED 33 to AED 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to AED 65 at EdFlik exists for exactly this task and is honest about what it provides. Save the specialist rate for reading a marked script against a mark scheme, which the budget band cannot do.

The third is funding the subject rather than the failure. Marks lost in calculation questions across physics and chemistry are one problem about quantitative technique, not two subject problems, and frequently the underlying issue is mathematics rather than science at all. One diagnostic hour across the marked scripts will say so, and when it does the budget halves.

The fourth is the two-hour in-home block. It exists because a tutor who has crossed the city and the causeway needs the trip to be worth making, not because a fifteen-year-old does productive science for 120 consecutive minutes. Market monthly packages reflect that: roughly AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour visits against about AED 799 for eight shorter online sessions. The pricing follows travel economics rather than how science is learned.

05

Costs that sit outside the tutoring bill

  • UAE candidates sit June and November; the February/March series is India-only
  • Pearson runs May/June and November
  • November results reached students on 22 January 2026, delaying a grade by months
  • Confirm the school's Cambridge administrative zone before building a revision plan

A science budget that stops at the hourly rate will be wrong by the amount of an entry fee or a resit, and families discover this in August. Entries are made by the school, months before the papers, and the fees appear on a school bill rather than a tutoring one, but they belong in the same plan.

The calendar sets the timing, and it is worth being exact. UAE candidates sit Cambridge in the June series and the November series. The February/March series is offered to India only, so any February or March dates quoted at a Dubai family should be disregarded entirely. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and in November.

Checkable reference points help with planning a reserve. For Pearson, the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026; June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026; November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those are backward-looking citations and that is what makes them verifiable, though the live official timetable is what should be checked before acting, because provisional timetables are revised.

The practical consequence for a budget is a reserve rather than a precise figure. A resit decision taken in August needs funding in September, and the resulting grade arrives in the following January rather than in the summer, which matters for any sixth-form or university application that depends on it. There is also an avoidable waste worth naming: every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, the timetable differs by zone, and Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone timetable. Revision bought against the wrong dates is money spent twice.

06

Science tutoring against the rest of a Dubai school bill

Context matters for a figure approaching five digits across two years, and in Dubai the rest of the education budget has recently been unusually stable. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within an AED 2.5 billion total.

The market around that continues to grow. Dubai had 387,441 students across 227 private schools in 2024-25, offering seventeen different curricula, with the UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian at 26 per cent, US at 14 per cent and the International Baccalaureate at 7 per cent. The 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, after six openings in 2025-26 and a 6 per cent rise in enrolment.

Two consequences follow for a science budget on this island. A stable fee position means the tutoring figure can be set across the two IGCSE years in advance rather than revised each time a report arrives, which is what prevents the three-booking accretion this page opened with. And deep UK curriculum supply means no shortage of available science tutors and no reliable price signal distinguishing those who have taught your child's specification from those who have taught the subject, which is why asking about the code does more for a budget than negotiating a rate.

The proportion point is worth stating plainly. Against school fees, one well-chosen weekly hour plus a shared skills hour across two IGCSE years is a modest addition. Three parallel bookings at specialist rates is not, and it does not produce proportionally better results, because it takes away the practice time that converts teaching into marks. The expensive mistake in this market is the number of hours bought rather than the rate paid for them.

07

Verifying who you are paying, at no cost

  • The MoHRE permit is free of charge and valid for two years
  • Introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023
  • Tuition centres with premises need a KHDA Educational Services Permit
  • No guarantee, no self-awarded rating and no copied mark schemes

Before a recurring payment starts there is a free set of checks, and it reduces to two questions. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 Regarding the Introduction of Private Tuition Work Permits, and it is granted free of charge for two years.

Because there is no fee, lacking one is a choice rather than an obstacle, and eligibility is broad: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. MoHRE lists the service as Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, with no fees stated and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and since no fine schedule has been published, a specific amount quoted at you cannot be substantiated.

The second question concerns who may teach whom. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules prohibit private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. If a family is considering a teacher from their child's own school, that is the question to ask first. Separately, a tuition centre with premises and staff in Dubai requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, obtained with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry.

There are also claims that should affect how a rate is read. No grade, improvement or outcome can honestly be guaranteed, and no refund should be tied to a result. A satisfaction percentage, a pass rate or a star rating published without a sample size, a date and a method is a number nobody can check. And nobody should be offering copied syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes as a package, because those belong to Cambridge International and to Pearson and are referenced rather than redistributed. Each of those checks is free, and together they tell a family more than a price comparison does.

Where we tutor

Pearl Jumeira and the communities around it

Pearl Jumeira is an island community reached by one causeway from the Jumeirah 1 shoreline. In-home quotations here sit at the upper end of the Dubai range; online rates do not vary at all.

Pearl Jumeira

Villa plots on reclaimed land with a single access road. Three visiting science tutors a week means six causeway crossings, each priced into an hourly figure somewhere.

Jumeirah 1

The mainland district the causeway feeds into. Identical tutoring is often quoted lower here, which is the clearest available measure of the distance component in a rate.

LA Mer

The beachfront development immediately south, same school cluster and same specification mix, without the island approach adding to a quotation.

Jumeirah 2

Larger villa plots inland with many British-curriculum families. Science demand here peaks in the weeks after the Year 11 mock window, which is also when prices are least negotiable.

City Walk

Dense low-rise apartments across Al Wasl Road. Visitor registration and basement parking add time at both ends, the apartment equivalent of the causeway premium.

Al Wasl

The corridor every inbound tutor crosses twice. Thirty to fifty minutes each way in the late afternoon, which is unpaid time recovered inside the hourly rate.

Jumeirah 3

Towards Umm Suqeim, with longer internal drives. For a three-science family the travel component compounds with each additional visiting tutor.

Umm Suqeim

Several large British-curriculum schools and the deepest general science tutoring market on this stretch, which means plenty of supply and little price signal about specification experience.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Read the entry statement first

Find out whether the school enters for three separate Cambridge sciences, for Co-ordinated Sciences 0654, or for Pearson 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1, and whether Paper 5 or Paper 6 applies. That single answer can divide the number of tutors needed by three.

  2. 02

    Buy one diagnostic hour

A session spent reading marked science scripts together, producing a topic list with approximate mark values. It frequently shows that losses across two sciences share one cause, often quantitative technique, which halves the plan before any standing booking starts.

  3. 03

    Take the free trial lesson

A full session at no charge, taught rather than pitched, with the student. The tutor works from the marked script and begins teaching. One trial lesson per student, before any monthly commitment; if the match is wrong, say so and nothing is owed.

  4. 04

    Fund the shared skills hour

One weekly hour on graph work, variables, method evaluation and practical paper technique, which is the same skill set in all three sciences. For Cambridge candidates it also targets the 20 per cent practical component, which is the cheapest part of the grade to recover.

  5. 05

Run blocks in sequence, not bookings in parallel

Six to eight sessions in one science against a named problem, then stop and reassess. Sequential blocks cover the same three subjects for well under half the cost of three standing bookings, and unlike three bookings they fit into the week.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The arithmetic is shown before anything is sold

Three weekly hours at mid-range published rates approaches AED 50,000 across two IGCSE years. Most families never see that figure because the bookings accumulate one subject at a time. Putting it in a table is more useful than any rate comparison.

The syllabus code treated as a budget document

Cambridge Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 is a double award covering all three disciplines in one paper set, so one tutor replaces three. Telling a family that costs us two bookings and saves them two thirds of the bill.

The efficient purchase named

The practical component is 20 per cent of the grade on Cambridge sciences, assesses a small learnable skill set, needs no apparatus, and is identical across all three subjects. One hour there serves three sciences, which nothing else in the syllabus does.

Honest about the cheaper band

Where the task is recall testing or homework momentum, the published AED 33 to AED 65 band is the appropriate purchase and we will say so. Charging specialist rates for testing biology definitions is a straightforward overspend.

No travel inside the rate

Teaching is one-to-one over live video, so three visiting tutors becoming six causeway crossings a week is not a cost anybody pays here. Online rates are identical whether a family lives on the island or inland.

Figures with sources, and no unverifiable claims

Every AED number carries the provider that published it and the month it was read. No grade is guaranteed, no rating is self-awarded, and no copied mark schemes are supplied, because all three of those are checkable commitments rather than slogans.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Pearl Jumeira: your questions answered

What does funding all three IGCSE sciences cost per month in Dubai?+

At the published middle of the market, three standing weekly hours is roughly AED 1,800 to AED 3,600 a month, since qualified online subject tutors are listed at AED 150 to AED 300 an hour with Unitors from AED 150 and TutorChase at AED 270. Across the two IGCSE years that approaches AED 35,000 to AED 69,000. Almost no family decides on that figure; it accumulates one subject at a time, each addition looking reasonable on its own.

Can we cover three sciences without paying for three tutors?+

Usually yes, in two ways. If the school enters for Cambridge Co-ordinated Sciences 0654, one tutor covers all three disciplines because it is a double award from one set of papers. Otherwise, a shared weekly hour on the skills common to all three, graph work, variables, method evaluation and practical paper technique, plus one diagnosed block at a time in whichever subject the marked scripts implicate, covers the same ground for well under half the parallel cost.

Is hiring three separate tutors for Co-ordinated Sciences a mistake?+

It is one of the most expensive misunderstandings in this market. Cambridge 0654 is a double award: one set of papers covers biology, chemistry and physics and produces two grades, with a longer combined theory paper and a practical component at 20 per cent. The depth in each discipline is shallower than in the separate sciences. What the student needs is one tutor comfortable across all three at the level the combined paper demands, and asking the school which code appears on the entry statement costs nothing.

Which part of the science grade is cheapest to recover?+

The practical component, on Cambridge separate sciences and Co-ordinated Sciences, where it carries 20 per cent. It assesses a small learnable set of skills: reading a scale to the right precision, identifying variables, spotting a flaw in a method, proposing a specific improvement, plotting and reading a graph, and describing a trend in mark-scheme language. None of it needs apparatus, and all of it is the same in all three sciences, so one hour serves three subjects.

Do Pearson Edexcel science candidates have the same practical opportunity?+

Not in the same form, and it changes where the hours should go. Pearson Edexcel Biology 4BI1, Chemistry 4CH1 and Physics 4PH1 have no separate practical paper and assess those skills inside the two written papers. So there is no Paper 5 or Paper 6 to prepare for, and the equivalent best-value target becomes long written question technique and data handling inside the main papers. Confirm which board applies before any hours are bought against the wrong structure.

Is a cheaper tutor adequate for IGCSE biology?+

Often, and this is one of the few places where that is honestly true. A great deal of biology support is testing definitions, checking sequences and keeping a student working, which the published budget band at AED 33 to AED 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to AED 65 at EdFlik provides perfectly well. Save the specialist rate for reading a marked script against the mark scheme and identifying why a six-mark explanation earned three, which the budget band cannot reliably do.

Our mock results were poor in two sciences. Do we need two tutors?+

Probably not. Marks lost in calculation questions across physics and chemistry are one problem about quantitative technique rather than two subject problems, and the underlying cause is frequently mathematics rather than science. Marks lost in long explanation questions across biology and chemistry are one problem about writing to the mark allocation. A single diagnostic hour across the marked scripts will say which, and when it does the budget usually halves rather than doubling.

Why do in-home science packages use two-hour sessions?+

Travel economics rather than teaching. A tutor who has crossed the city and the causeway needs the trip to be worth making, which is why monthly in-home packages are commonly built around four two-hour visits at AED 1,599 to AED 1,799, against roughly AED 799 for eight shorter online sessions. A fifteen-year-old does not do productive science for 120 consecutive minutes, so the second half of a long visit tends to become supervised homework at a teaching rate.

How many tutored hours fit into a Year 11 week on this island?+

Two, or at most three. School in this cluster ends between 2:45pm and 3:30pm, the Al Wasl Road crossing plus the causeway queue takes thirty to forty-five minutes, activity programmes run to about 6pm, and useful work stops around 8:30pm. Beyond two or three tutored hours, the sessions start displacing unsupervised practice, which is where science is actually consolidated. Three parallel science bookings do not fit, and one of them quietly stops happening.

Should a science budget include money for a resit?+

A reserve rather than a precise figure. UAE candidates sit Cambridge in June and November and Pearson Edexcel runs May/June and November, so a resit route exists. The timing is the planning issue: a decision taken in August needs funding in September, and the grade then arrives months later. Pearson's November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, which gives the shape. Confirm current deadlines with the school's exams officer rather than any website.

Could we waste money revising against the wrong exam dates?+

Yes, and it is entirely avoidable. Every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, the exam timetable differs by zone, and Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone timetable. Ask the school which zone it sits in, and make sure any tutor planning a revision schedule works from that version rather than one found through a search.

Do both Co-ordinated Sciences grades count towards MoE equivalency?+

The published British-track rule is that a student must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade no lower than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic Education not counted among the five. A double award produces two grades from one set of papers, which in practice contributes two of the five. One provider ranking for these searches publishes a different subject count. Verify the current requirement through the Ministry of Education's own channel rather than any tutoring website.

Are Dubai school fees rising, and should that change a science budget?+

KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within an AED 2.5 billion total. For a science budget that stability is useful in a specific way: it means the two-year tutoring figure can be set in advance, which is the single best protection against the three-booking accretion that happens when each report prompts a new decision.

Does IB Gram charge extra for coming onto Pearl Jumeira?+

The question does not arise, because IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE. In-home tutoring is a service offered only in India. Pearl Jumeira families are taught one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so the rate is identical whether a family lives on the island or inland, and three visiting tutors becoming six causeway crossings a week is not a cost anybody pays. A session can also switch subject week to week without finding a second person.

Read the entry statement, then buy one hour that serves three subjects

Two actions change a science tutoring bill more than any negotiation on rate. Find out which specification the school entered your child for, because Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 means one tutor rather than three. Then fund the shared skills hour, which targets graph work, variables, method evaluation and, for Cambridge candidates, the practical component worth 20 per cent, using the same skills in all three sciences. Add one diagnosed block at a time after that, in sequence rather than in parallel. Take the free trial lesson first. Teaching is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.
