IGCSE Science Tutor in Al Warqa

An IGCSE science tutor in Al Warqa usually gets hired for one of three reasons: a Year 10 report that slipped a grade, a practical paper nobody has practised, or a mock result lower than the classwork suggested. This page prices all three. It sets out what Dubai families pay per hour and per month, which parts of a science grade that money reliably moves, and which parts it does not touch. Lessons run one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time.

  • Market AED rates published, with the source for each band
  • Syllabus codes 0610, 0620, 0625, 0653, 0654, 4SD0 covered
  • Paper 5 and Paper 6 practical technique taught directly
  • Trial lesson at no cost before any payment is taken

IB & IGCSE in Al Warqa

What science tutoring costs an Al Warqa family, and what it buys

Start with the bill rather than the brochure. A single IGCSE science subject supported once a week by a qualified online tutor runs from AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month at the market rates Dubai providers publish. Three separate sciences, taught by three people, triple that figure without tripling the result. Most Al Warqa families who come to us are already spending somewhere in that range and cannot say which of the three subjects the money is actually improving. That is the problem this page is built to solve: not whether to spend, but where.

Al Warqa sits in the eastern half of Dubai, within a short drive of some of the largest year groups in the emirate. The schools around Al Warqa, Al Qusais and Mirdif run cohorts where a science teacher may see well over a hundred and fifty students a week. Content coverage in those rooms is generally thorough. What is scarce is the thing that converts a grade: somebody reading your child's written answer, line by line, against the mark scheme, and saying why the second mark was not awarded. You are not buying missing information. You are buying marking attention.

That distinction decides the price you should pay. A budget tutor at the bottom of the Dubai market, from AED 45 to AED 150 an hour, will re-explain electrolysis or the eye perfectly well. Re-explanation is not usually the gap. A tutor at AED 150 to AED 300 who has marked Paper 4 scripts can look at a six-mark answer about osmosis and identify that the candidate described the direction of movement but never named the water potential gradient, which is where the final two marks lived. The price difference between those two tutors is often smaller than the difference in what they change.

The second place money disappears in Al Warqa is the practical component. Cambridge puts a fifth of the final science grade into either Paper 5, a hands-on practical test, or Paper 6, the alternative to practical. Families almost never buy tutoring for it. Students arrive at the paper having drawn perhaps four graphs in two years, with no habit of labelling axes with quantity and unit, and lose marks that required no scientific knowledge at all. An hour a fortnight on tables, graphs, anomalies and variable control is the cheapest grade movement available in the whole subject.

The third is timing. Science tutoring bought in the final six weeks before the June series is the most expensive version of itself, because the only thing left to do is damage limitation on three subjects at once. The same money spent across Year 10 and the first two terms of Year 11 buys tier decisions made on evidence, Extended-only topics taught when they appear rather than in a panic, and a Paper 6 habit built slowly. We would rather tell you that in October than take a larger fee in April.

Everything that follows is priced, sourced and specific to the eastern suburbs. Lessons are delivered online, one-to-one, over live video. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visiting is a service we run only in India. The comparison table further down shows what the in-home premium costs in this part of Dubai and what it actually buys, so you can make that call with the numbers in front of you.

At a glance

  • Qualified online science tutoring in Dubai: AED 150-300 an hour at published market rates

Al Warqa schools run the IGCSE sciences on four distinct routes, and the route decides both the ceiling available to your child and the number of tutoring hours the family ends up paying for. Identify yours before you buy anything.

COREAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE Science, Core tier

The Core syllabus covers the main content of each science without the supplement topics. Candidates sit Paper 1 and Paper 3 alongside a practical component. The highest grade available is a C, which is the single most important thing a parent should know before paying for a year of tutoring on this route. Core suits a student whose arithmetic and reading speed make the Extended papers a genuine risk, not a student who has simply had a weak year.

Dubai schools finalise tier entries with Cambridge months before the papers, and the deadline sits with the school's exams officer rather than with the family. If your child is on Core and aiming for A Level sciences, the conversation with the head of science in Al Warqa needs to happen in the autumn term of Year 11 at the latest, because after entries close the ceiling is fixed whatever tutoring you buy.

EXTAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE Science, Extended tier

Extended adds the supplement content and opens grades A* to E. Candidates sit Paper 2 and Paper 4 with the same practical component. The supplement material is where tutoring earns its fee, because large Dubai cohorts frequently teach it last and fastest. Extended Physics 0625 carries the heaviest mathematical load of the three, and students who are weak in 0580 Mathematics tend to lose Physics marks that look like physics failures and are not.

In the big Al Warqa and Al Qusais schools the Extended set can run to several hundred candidates, so written feedback on long answers is rationed by arithmetic rather than by willingness. That is the specific gap an outside tutor fills here, and it is why we price Extended support around marking volume rather than around teaching hours.

0654Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Co-ordinated Sciences, Double Award

Cambridge 0654 teaches biology, chemistry and physics as one subject and reports a double grade, counting as two subjects on a transcript. The content is lighter than three separate sciences but broader than one. For a family budget this is the most efficient route on the board: two subjects of credit for one tutoring slot a week, with a single tutor holding the whole picture rather than three people each seeing a third of it.

Several schools in the eastern suburbs place their middle sets on 0654 and their target sets on three separate sciences, which means siblings in the same Al Warqa villa can be on different routes with different paper counts. Check the code printed on your child's exam entry statement before assuming you know which one they are on.

4SD0Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Science

Pearson runs single and double award science alongside separate Biology 4BI1, Chemistry 4CH1 and Physics 4PH1. The structural difference that matters to a tutor is practical assessment: Pearson examines practical skills inside the written papers rather than in a separate paper. A student moving between a Cambridge school and a Pearson school mid-course therefore gains or loses a whole component, and the revision plan has to be rebuilt rather than translated.

Pearson publishes its International GCSE timetables for a May/June and a November series, and the November 2026 final timetable ran to 19 November 2026 with results reaching students in January. Entry and resit planning for UAE candidates should be read off the live Pearson timetable page rather than off any date restated on a tutoring site.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the science codes we see most often on exam entry statements in the eastern suburbs, with the part of each that costs families the most marks. Ask your child's exams officer which code appears against their name; it is printed, and it changes everything a tutor should be doing.

Cambridge IGCSE Biology 0610

Core and Extended

The content is accessible and the marks are lost in precision. Transport in plants, enzymes and homeostasis are examined through six-mark explanations where a candidate must name the gradient, the surface, the hormone and the direction. Describing the process in general terms earns one mark of four. Biology is the cheapest science to improve and the easiest to coast on.

Cambridge IGCSE Chemistry 0620

Core and Extended

Mole calculations, electrolysis products and organic naming carry most of the Extended losses. The arithmetic is not hard; the layout is. Candidates who write a chain of numbers with no units and no working get nothing when the final answer is wrong, and full marks when it is right, which makes marks volatile in a way that a few marked papers will fix.

Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625

Core and Extended

The most mathematically demanding of the three. Moments, circuits, pressure and the wave equations require rearrangement under time pressure, and the commonest loss in Dubai scripts is a correct method with a dropped prefix — milli, kilo, centi — rather than a conceptual error. Electricity and magnetism are usually taught late and revised least.

Cambridge IGCSE Co-ordinated Sciences 0654

Double Award

One syllabus, three disciplines, a double grade. The risk is uneven coverage: a student who is comfortable in biology can hide a complete gap in physics behind a middling overall mark. A tutor on 0654 should be diagnosing by discipline from the first session, not by paper.

Cambridge IGCSE Combined Science 0653

Single Award

A single-subject route covering all three sciences in less depth. It appears on transcripts as one science, which matters for the Ministry of Education equivalency count and for A Level entry. Families sometimes discover this late; it is worth checking against the school's own progression requirements in Year 10.

Pearson Edexcel Biology 4BI1

International GCSE

Two written papers with practical skills assessed inside them. The question style rewards longer connected prose than Cambridge does, so a student switching boards often keeps scoring at the same level of knowledge and a lower level of mark, purely because the answers are too short.

Pearson Edexcel Chemistry 4CH1

International GCSE

Quantitative chemistry and practical method questions dominate the difference from Cambridge. There is no separate alternative-to-practical component, so method, apparatus and safety reasoning appear without warning among the theory questions and are frequently answered in one line where three were wanted.

Pearson Edexcel Physics 4PH1

International GCSE

Two papers, the longer carrying the larger share of the grade. Equation recall is heavier than many students expect, and the practical-skills questions embedded in the written papers are where Dubai candidates taught mainly through demonstrations tend to lose the most.

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core and Extended

Included here because it is a science cost. Rearranging formulae, standard form, ratio and graph interpretation are physics and chemistry skills with a maths label. Families paying for separate physics help when the real fault is 0580 algebra are paying twice for one problem.

Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Extended only

Taken by target sets in some eastern-suburb schools alongside the three sciences. It raises the total paper count substantially in one exam season, and the scheduling consequence for a Year 11 revision plan is usually underestimated when the subject is chosen in Year 9.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Al Warqa families buy science support, priced as the Dubai market prices them. The right choice depends on how many sciences your child sits and whether the gap is content or technique.

Weekly one-to-one, one science

A single hour a week on one subject, with the paper your child sits actually marked between sessions. At market mid-rates of AED 150 to 300 an hour this runs AED 600 to 1,200 a month. It is the right purchase when one of the three sciences is clearly behind the other two and the family can name which.

  • One tutor, one syllabus code, one set of papers
  • Written answers marked to the published scheme, not read aloud
  • Works from the student's own school assessments, not generic worksheets
  • Cheapest route to a defensible tier decision

Fortnightly practical-paper block

A short series aimed only at Paper 5 or Paper 6, or at the practical questions embedded in Pearson's written papers. Six to eight sessions covers tables, graphs, anomalies, variable control and apparatus reasoning. Against a component worth a fifth of the grade this is the highest-yield money on the page, and almost nobody buys it.

  • Axes, scales, units and headings drilled until automatic
  • Anomalous results identified and explained in mark-scheme language
  • Independent, dependent and controlled variables named correctly
  • Suits a student whose theory marks are already sound

Triple-science planning with one lead tutor

For students sitting 0610, 0620 and 0625 together. One science tutor holds the plan across all three, works directly on the subject in most need that fortnight, and keeps the revision load from collapsing into whichever paper is next. It costs less than three separate weekly tutors and loses less to duplicated diagnosis.

  • One revision calendar across three syllabuses
  • The weakest discipline gets the hour, reviewed every few weeks
  • Shared skills — graphs, units, command verbs — taught once
  • Escalation to a second specialist only where the need is proven

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Warqa

01

What an IGCSE science tutor in Al Warqa actually costs

  • Budget online tuition starts around AED 45-65 an hour on published Dubai rate cards
  • Qualified subject tutoring sits at AED 150-300 for IGCSE
  • In-home visiting is quoted at AED 180-500 once travel is priced in
  • Premium examiner-led support reaches AED 650 and is rarely the right fit for IGCSE science

Dubai publishes more tutoring prices than any parent realises, just not in one place. Reading across the providers that do quote, in October 2026, the market for an hour of IGCSE science support ran from AED 45 at the budget end to AED 650 at the top. The spread is not quality alone; it is a mixture of the tutor's qualification, whether anybody drives anywhere, and whether written work gets marked outside the hour you pay for. The table sets out each band with the provider that published it, so you can check the figure rather than take ours.

Three of the six most visible competitor pages in this market publish no price at all, and two quote in US dollars, which is not the currency an Al Warqa family transacts in. That is why the bands below are worth more than any claim about value. IB Gram does not operate a published price list on these pages; what we can do honestly is show you what the market charges, tell you which band a particular problem actually needs, and let the trial session establish the rest.

The practical reading of this table is narrower than it looks. Most Al Warqa science problems live in the middle band. A student who understands respiration but writes four-word answers does not need an examiner at AED 650; they need somebody at AED 200 who will mark twelve long answers properly. Conversely, a Year 11 candidate sitting three Extended sciences with a tier decision still unmade is poorly served by a AED 60 undergraduate, however patient, because the judgement being bought is the expensive part, not the explanation.

Three sciences or a double award: the arithmetic nobody does first

The single largest variable in an Al Warqa science bill is not the hourly rate. It is how many sciences your child sits and whether one person or three is being paid to support them. A student on 0610, 0620 and 0625 with a weekly tutor for each is buying twelve hours a month. The same student on Co-ordinated Sciences 0654 with one tutor is buying four to eight, and the transcript still shows two subjects rather than one. Over the two years of the course that gap is substantial.

Families rarely run this calculation before they start, because tutoring is bought subject by subject as each report arrives. Biology slips in October, so a biology tutor appears. Chemistry slips in February, so a chemistry tutor appears. By June there are three people, three invoices, three sets of diagnosis covering the same graph-drawing weakness, and nobody holding the whole revision calendar. The waste is not in any one hour; it is in the duplication.

Our recommendation for triple-science students in the eastern suburbs is one lead science tutor with the authority to move the hour where the need is. Graph skills, command verbs, units and significant figures are shared across all three syllabuses and should be taught once. Discipline-specific gaps — organic mechanisms, electromagnetic induction, plant transport — then get targeted blocks rather than a permanent weekly slot. Escalate to a second specialist when the evidence says so, not when a report card says so.

Where science tutoring money is wasted in this part of Dubai

  • Ask what was marked last week, not what was taught
  • Settle the Core or Extended entry before buying a year of hours
  • Do not pay three tutors to diagnose one shared weakness
  • Group classes suit content revision, not individual technique

The commonest waste is paying for explanation that the school already delivered well. In a large Al Warqa cohort the lesson content is usually covered properly and on time; what is missing is individual correction. A tutor who spends the hour re-teaching diffusion to a student who can already define it has produced a pleasant session and no change in marks. You can detect this quickly: ask what was marked, not what was covered.

The second waste is buying hours instead of buying a decision. A family spending AED 1,200 a month on physics while their child remains entered for Core tier is paying for a ceiling of grade C. The entry decision is worth more than any number of hours, it is made by the school months in advance, and it is reversible only before the exams officer submits. One properly evidenced conversation with the head of science in the autumn term is worth more than a term of lessons.

The third is late buying. Science tutoring purchased six weeks before the June series across three subjects cannot do more than triage, and triage priced at specialist rates is the most expensive hour on this page. The fourth is group classes bought on price: a tuition centre class of twelve at AED 80 a head is good value for content revision and poor value for the thing most Al Warqa students actually need, which is somebody reading their own handwriting against a mark scheme.

None of this argues for spending more. It argues for spending the same amount differently: fewer tutors, more marking, one decision made early, and a fortnightly block on the practical paper that currently gets nothing at all.

04

The papers you are paying to fix, component by component

Cambridge splits each separate science into three components, and the weightings are public. The multiple-choice paper carries 30% of the grade, the structured theory paper 50%, and the practical component 20%. A parent who knows those three numbers can audit a tutoring plan in about a minute. If every session is spent on theory recall, half the grade is receiving all of the attention and the other half none.

The theory paper is where the most marks sit and where Dubai scripts lose them most predictably. Command verbs are the mechanism. Describe asks what happens; explain asks why; suggest invites a reasoned answer to an unfamiliar context; compare requires both sides in the same sentence. A candidate who answers every six-mark question with a description scores consistently around half. Fixing that is a technique job of a few weeks, not a content job of a year.

The practical component is the quiet one. Paper 5 is a hands-on test; Paper 6 is the alternative to practical, answered on paper. Both examine the same reasoning: variable control, measurement precision, table construction, graph plotting, anomaly identification, and improvements to a method. A student can score strongly on it with no laboratory access at all, because what is being tested is written reasoning about experiments rather than manual dexterity. This is why online delivery is not a handicap on this component, and why we treat it as a separate purchasable block. A student who has drawn thirty marked graphs will outscore one who has watched thirty demonstrations, and the difference costs a handful of sessions rather than a term.

Core or Extended: the decision that sets both price and ceiling

  • Core grades run C to G; Extended runs A* to E
  • The entry is submitted by the school's exams officer, months ahead
  • Evidence moves a tier decision; requests rarely do
  • Extended Physics 0625 demands secure 0580 algebra

Core tier caps at grade C. That sentence should govern every spending decision a family makes on this route, and in large Dubai cohorts it is frequently discovered late. A student placed on Core in Year 10 on the strength of one weak term, who then recovers, may still be entered for Core because nobody revisited the decision. Tutoring cannot lift a Core candidate above the ceiling of the paper they are sitting.

The decision is made by the school, not the family, and it is submitted to Cambridge by the exams officer. What a family can do is supply evidence: marked Extended-standard questions, a run of past-paper scores on supplement content, a tutor's written view on whether the mathematical demand of 0625 Extended is manageable. Schools respond to evidence far better than to requests. Producing that evidence is a legitimate and cheap use of four or five tutoring sessions in the autumn term of Year 11.

The honest version of this also runs the other way. Extended is not automatically the right answer. A student whose 0580 algebra is insecure will find Extended Physics punishing, and a candidate who scrapes an E on Extended has not done better than a confident C on Core for most progression purposes. We say so when we see it, and we have talked families out of a term of tutoring on that basis. A tier recommendation should come with the marked scripts that justify it.

06

The practical component when lessons are online

Parents in Al Warqa reasonably ask how practical science can be taught over video. The answer depends on which component your child sits. If the school enters candidates for Paper 6, the alternative to practical, then nothing is lost: that paper is answered in writing, and preparing for it means working through experimental descriptions, drawing results tables, plotting graphs and explaining anomalies. A shared screen and a document camera are perfectly adequate, and in some respects better than a lab bench, because every graph the student draws can be marked immediately.

If the school enters candidates for Paper 5, the hands-on practical test, the laboratory work itself happens at school and cannot be replaced by any tutor, in person or otherwise. What a tutor contributes is the written layer around it: how to record readings to a consistent precision, how to construct a table before taking any measurement, how to decide which variable goes on which axis, and how to phrase an improvement so it earns the mark. That layer is where most of the marks in Paper 5 are actually lost.

For Pearson candidates on 4BI1, 4CH1, 4PH1 or 4SD0 the practical reasoning is distributed through the written papers rather than isolated, so the preparation is the same work done in smaller pieces. In all three cases the honest summary is that online delivery costs nothing on this component, which is precisely the component Al Warqa families are least likely to be paying for.

07

In-home science tutoring in Al Warqa, priced honestly

  • Market in-home rate: AED 180-500 an hour, travel included in the figure
  • Market qualified online rate: AED 150-300 an hour for the same subject
  • The premium pays for travel time, not for additional teaching
  • Online delivery widens the tutor pool from one neighbourhood to the whole subject

In-home tutoring is what most parents searching this phrase have in mind, so it deserves a straight answer rather than a redirection. The Dubai market prices an in-home one-to-one visit at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour, against AED 150 to 300 for an equivalent qualified tutor online, and monthly in-home packages of four two-hour sessions have been advertised at AED 1,599 to 1,799. The premium is real and it is paid for driving, not for teaching.

From Al Warqa that premium buys a particular kind of inconvenience. A tutor willing to drive to Al Warqa 2 on a weekday evening is, by definition, a tutor who lives within a reasonable radius of Al Warqa 2. For a Core-tier biology top-up that radius contains plenty of competent people. For Extended Physics 0625 with a shaky algebra base and a tier decision pending, it may contain nobody at all, and the family ends up choosing on geography rather than on subject expertise.

IB Gram does not sell home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. Lessons for Al Warqa families are delivered one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, which is how a student in the eastern suburbs gets a tutor chosen for knowing 0625 rather than for living nearby. The comparison below is the argument, stated in the terms a parent can check, and it is the same argument whether your address is in Al Warqa 1 or Al Khawaneej.

08

A spending plan for the June series, counted backwards

UAE candidates sit the Cambridge June and November series. The February/March series is offered to India only, which matters because a family reading an India-facing tutoring site may plan to the wrong calendar entirely. Pearson runs May/June and November for its International GCSEs. Both boards publish live timetables, and both revise them, so the only safe practice is to work from the official page rather than from a date restated anywhere else, including here.

Counting backwards from a June sitting, the useful sequence for an Al Warqa science family looks like this. In the autumn term of Year 11, settle the tier and spend money on evidence rather than hours. Through the winter, buy marking: one science at a time, long answers corrected against the scheme, with the weakest discipline rotating into the slot. In the new year, add the practical block, because Paper 5 and Paper 6 preparation is short, cheap and almost universally neglected.

From the mock results onwards the plan should narrow rather than broaden. Three sciences cannot all be rebuilt at once in the final weeks, so pick the paper where the gap between current and achievable marks is widest and concentrate there. Keep one eye on the November series as a genuine option rather than a failure: a resit in a single science, prepared properly over the summer, is often cheaper and more effective than three panicked subjects in spring.

Cambridge allocates every exam centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that the correct zone timetable must be used, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after consulting the wrong version. Your child's school knows its zone. Ask for it in writing, and plan the final fortnight from that document.

Where we tutor

Where our Al Warqa science students actually live

Al Warqa is one community in a belt of eastern suburbs that share schools, bus routes and the same evening timetable. Students on these pages come from across that belt, and the practical detail below is what changes between one address and the next.

Al Warqa 1 to 4

Villa communities with short runs to the Al Qusais and Mirdif school clusters. Most families report a 3:30pm to 4:00pm arrival home, which makes a 5:00pm science session comfortable rather than rushed.

Mirdif

Smaller year groups than Al Warqa, more IB continuum and American curriculum provision. Science cohorts here are often under thirty, so the marking-attention problem is milder and the tutoring brief is usually content rather than technique.

Al Mizhar

Served by the same school belt with slightly longer bus legs. Families here more often ask for a 5:30pm or 6:00pm start, which is why we hold later Gulf Standard Time slots open for the eastern suburbs.

Al Khawaneej

Larger plots, longer drives, and a noticeable number of students who sit three separate sciences. The route arithmetic in the second table matters most to households in this pocket.

Nad Al Hamar

Close to the Ras Al Khor crossing, so the commute west is quick and the commute to the Al Qusais schools is quicker still. Sessions at 4:30pm are realistic for most students here.

Al Qusais

Where several of the largest Indian-curriculum and British-curriculum cohorts in Dubai sit. Candidates from these schools make up a large share of the Extended science work we take on from the eastern suburbs.

Dubai Silicon Oasis

A mix of apartment and villa households feeding both the Silicon Oasis schools and the Mirdif cluster. Science enquiries here skew towards Physics 0625 and Additional Mathematics 0606 together.

International City

Shorter commutes, denser housing, and a strong preference for online delivery on grounds of cost rather than convenience. The rate table below is the part of this page families here read first.

Science sets in this group frequently run into the hundreds across a year. Teaching quality is not the issue; written feedback per candidate is. Students we support attend schools across this group, and the briefs we receive from their families are overwhelmingly about long-answer technique and the practical paper rather than about missing content.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the code, not just the subject

Send the syllabus code from your child's exam entry statement — 0610, 0620, 0625, 0654, 0653, 4SD0 — along with the current tier and the most recent marked assessment. Those three pieces of information let us match a tutor who has taught that exact specification rather than a general science teacher.

  2. 02

A trial session that diagnoses rather than sells

The first session is at no cost and is spent on your child's own marked work. The tutor identifies whether the gap is content, written technique or the practical component, and says which. If the honest answer is that tutoring is not the right purchase, you will be told that in writing.

  3. 03

Agree the spend before the schedule

We set out how many hours the diagnosis actually justifies and where they should go, using the market bands on this page as the reference. One science weekly, a fortnightly practical block, or a short evidence-gathering series for a tier decision are different purchases with different prices.

  4. 04

Marking between sessions, visible to you

Written answers are corrected against the published scheme and returned with the mark breakdown, so you can see which marks were missed and why. This is the part that distinguishes the middle of the Dubai rate card from the bottom of it, and it is what you are paying the difference for.

  5. 05

Review on evidence, every few weeks

Every four to six weeks we look at the marked work and decide whether to keep the slot, move it to a different science, or stop. Sessions that have stopped producing movement should end rather than continue, and a tutor who never recommends reducing hours is not giving you advice.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The rates on this page are sourced, not implied

Every AED band here is attributed to the provider or rate table that published it, with the month it was read. Three of the most visible competitor pages in this market publish no figure at all, and two quote in US dollars, which is not what an Al Warqa family pays in.

A tutor chosen for the syllabus, not the postcode

Online delivery means the pool for Extended Physics 0625 is every tutor who teaches it, not the subset who will drive to the eastern suburbs on a Tuesday. For a niche need — 0606 Additional Mathematics alongside triple science — that difference decides whether a suitable tutor exists at all.

The practical component is treated as a real component

Paper 5 and Paper 6 carry a fifth of a Cambridge science grade and are the least-tutored part of the course in Dubai. We sell preparation for them as a defined short block, because that is the shape of the work and because it is the cheapest grade movement available.

Clear limits on coursework and assessed work

A tutor teaches, questions, marks and gives feedback on your child's own work. We do not write, complete or edit to completion anything that is submitted for assessment, and we do not supply board syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes as downloads. Those are published by Cambridge and Pearson and should be obtained from them.

Permit position stated plainly

Private tuition in the UAE is regulated through a MoHRE private tutor work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years. Ask any tutor, including ours, to show theirs. IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK or Ministry of Education approval and does not claim any.

Advice that sometimes costs us the sale

If the diagnosis is that the tier decision matters more than the hours, or that the school is already doing what a tutor would do, we say so. On a 4,500-word page about cost it would be inconsistent to pretend every problem is solved by buying more of what we sell.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Warqa: your questions answered

How much should an Al Warqa family budget for one IGCSE science subject?+

At the rates Dubai providers published in October 2026, a qualified online science tutor costs AED 150 to 300 an hour, so one weekly session is roughly AED 600 to 1,200 a month. Budget tutors start around AED 45 to 65 on EdFlik's own rate card, and specialist IGCSE support runs from AED 200 to 450 and above. For a single science with a clear, named weakness, the middle band is usually the right purchase. The figure that matters more than the hourly rate is how many sciences you are supporting at once, because that is what multiplies the bill.

Is it cheaper to support Co-ordinated Sciences than three separate sciences?+

Substantially, and the transcript barely suffers. Cambridge 0654 reports a double grade and counts as two subjects, but it is one syllabus with one tutor and one revision calendar. Three separate sciences on 0610, 0620 and 0625 typically attract three weekly tutors, three diagnoses of the same graph-drawing weakness and three invoices. At market mid-rates that is roughly AED 1,800 to 3,600 a month against AED 600 to 1,400 for the double award. The route is chosen by the school in Year 9 or 10, so the saving is only available if the conversation happens then.

Which of the three sciences is most expensive to leave until Year 11?+

Physics 0625 at Extended tier. Its difficulty is mathematical as much as conceptual: rearranging equations, handling prefixes, and working with standard form under time pressure. A student who reaches Year 11 with insecure 0580 algebra needs the algebra fixed before the physics will move, which means paying for two problems in sequence rather than one. Biology 0610 is the opposite case — accessible content where marks are lost to imprecise writing, which a few properly marked long answers will shift quickly. Chemistry sits between them, with mole calculations behaving like physics and organic naming behaving like biology.

Does a tutor at AED 60 an hour work for IGCSE science?+

For some purposes, yes. If your child has missed three weeks of lessons and needs the content delivered again, a careful undergraduate at the bottom of the Dubai market will do it and the saving is real. What that band generally does not include is marking: reading your child's six-mark answer against the published scheme and explaining which two marks were not awarded. Since that is the gap in most large Al Warqa cohorts, the cheaper hour often changes nothing measurable. Judge the purchase by what gets corrected, not by what gets covered.

What does the in-home travel premium actually buy a science family here?+

Driving. The Dubai market quotes in-home one-to-one visits at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour against AED 150 to 300 for an equivalent qualified tutor online, and that gap is travel time priced into the hour. From the eastern suburbs it also narrows your choice to tutors living within reach of Al Warqa on a weekday evening, which is a geographic filter rather than an academic one. For Core-tier biology that pool is adequate. For Extended Physics 0625 with a pending tier decision, it may not contain the right person at all.

Should we hire a separate tutor for each science?+

Not at first. Graph construction, units, significant figures and command-verb discipline are shared across all three syllabuses and should be taught once by one person. Our recommendation for triple-science students is a single lead science tutor who moves the hour to whichever discipline the marked work says is weakest, reviewed every few weeks. Add a second specialist when the evidence names a specific content gap that the lead tutor cannot cover — organic mechanisms, or electromagnetic induction, for instance — rather than because a report card showed three middling grades.

How much of our spend should go on marking rather than teaching?+

More than most families allocate. In a cohort where a science teacher sees well over a hundred students a week, content delivery is usually sound and individual correction is the scarce commodity. A useful test is to ask, after each session, what was marked rather than what was covered. If the answer is consistently that work was reviewed verbally, you are paying a marking rate for a teaching service. Expect written answers to come back with the mark breakdown shown, because that is the specific thing distinguishing the middle of the Dubai rate card from the bottom.

Is a group science class at a Dubai tuition centre good value?+

It is good value for one job and poor value for another. A class of ten or twelve at AED 80 a head is an efficient way to revise content, work through a topic sequence and keep a student engaged through the winter term. It cannot give individual correction on your child's handwriting, and it cannot make a tier judgement. If the diagnosis is missing content, the group class is a sensible purchase. If the diagnosis is that answers are too short and graphs are unlabelled, it will not touch the problem however many weeks you buy.

What does practical-paper preparation cost compared with content teaching?+

Much less, because it is finite. Paper 5 and Paper 6 test a defined set of skills: variable control, table construction before measuring, axis choice, scale selection, anomaly identification and method improvement. Six to eight fortnightly sessions covers it, which at market mid-rates is roughly AED 900 to 2,400 once. Against a component carrying a fifth of the final grade that is the highest-yield money on this page. Almost no Al Warqa family buys it, which is why it stays the cheapest improvement available in the subject.

Does our school's exam board change what tutoring should cost?+

It changes what the tutoring has to do. Cambridge isolates practical reasoning in Paper 5 or Paper 6, worth 20% of the grade, so it can be bought as a separate short block. Pearson distributes practical questions through the written papers on 4BI1, 4CH1, 4PH1 and 4SD0, so the same preparation happens in smaller pieces inside the main sessions. The hourly rate does not differ. What differs is the plan, which is why a tutor needs the syllabus code from the entry statement rather than just the subject name.

Is paying for a November science resit worth it after a disappointing June?+

Often, yes, and it is usually cheaper than the alternative. One science prepared properly over the summer and resat in November concentrates spending on a single known gap, with a diagnosis already in hand from the June script. Compare that with spreading the same money across three subjects in a panic the previous spring. Check two things first: whether your child's school will enter them for the November series, and what the centre charges a private candidate if it will not. Both answers come from the school's exams officer.

How many weeks before we should expect to see something change?+

For written technique, four to six weeks of marked long answers is usually enough to see movement on school assessments, because the fault is a habit rather than a knowledge gap. For missing content — a whole unit of organic chemistry, say — expect a term. For practical-paper skills, improvement shows within two or three sessions, since the marks being recovered require no new science. If nothing has shifted on marked work after six weeks on a technique brief, the problem has been diagnosed wrongly and the plan should change rather than continue.

Do Arabic and Islamic Education reduce the science time available?+

They occupy timetable space, yes. KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with instructional time calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit and separate classes organised for Arab and non-Arab students. In practice that means a Year 11 week in Al Warqa holds fewer discretionary science periods than a parent assumes from the subject list. It is an argument for planning the revision calendar early rather than for buying more hours, and it is published on the KHDA website if you want to read the requirement yourself.

Can one tutor take both our children and reduce the bill?+

If they are on compatible routes, often yes, though not in the same session. A tutor covering 0654 Co-ordinated Sciences for a Year 10 and 0620 Chemistry for a Year 11 holds one body of knowledge and can run consecutive slots from the same household with less switching cost than two separate arrangements. What does not work is teaching two children of different ability in one hour and calling it one-to-one. Tell us both syllabus codes and both school timetables, and we will say honestly whether one tutor is the sensible answer.

What happens if no specialist is free for triple science at the level we need?+

We tell you, rather than filling the slot with whoever is available. The honest sequence is this: if no UAE-based tutor covers the exact specification and tier, we look across our wider pool, which includes tutors based in India teaching the same Cambridge and Pearson syllabuses to Gulf Standard Time. If that still does not produce the right match, we say the need is unmet and suggest what else to try, including your school's own intervention programme. A tutor who does not know 0625 Extended will cost you a term before you find out.

Start with the diagnosis, then decide what to spend

If you are weighing science tutoring for a child in Al Warqa, the useful first step is not choosing a price band. It is finding out whether the lost marks are content, written technique or the practical component, because the three cost very different amounts to fix. Send the syllabus code, the current tier and one recent marked assessment, and the trial session will give you that answer at no cost. You may be told that a conversation with the head of science matters more than a term of lessons. On a page about where the money goes, that is the only consistent position to take.
