IB Home Tutor in Al Warqa

Most families searching for an IB home tutor in Al Warqa are really asking a budget question: what does two years of Diploma support cost, and what does the money buy that the school day does not already provide? This page answers it in dirhams per month and per year, with every figure attributed to whoever published it. IB Gram delivers that support one-to-one over live video to Al Warqa, on Gulf Standard Time, with a free trial lesson first.

  • Monthly and two-year Diploma budgets, not vague hourly ranges
  • Every AED figure carries the provider or source that published it
  • Internal assessment weightings named per subject, not generalised

IB & IGCSE in Al Warqa

The Al Warqa IB budget, written out in full

A household in Al Warqa'a 2 or 3 deciding whether to buy Diploma support is making a two-year commitment whether or not anybody says so out loud. Weekly tutoring in one subject from the start of Year 12 to the May examinations is roughly seventy sessions. At market rates that is a four-figure monthly line and a five-figure total, and almost nobody is shown that arithmetic before the first invoice. This page does the arithmetic first and the persuasion second.

Al Warqa makes the calculation unusually clear, because the community is a long way from where Dubai's tutoring supply lives. The school run goes north to Al Qusais, west to Mirdif, or down Ras Al Khor Road towards Festival City and Academic City. A tutor driving in from Jumeirah or Business Bay at five in the afternoon is in the car for the best part of an hour each way, and that hour is paid for by somebody. In this postcode the travel premium is not a rounding error, it is the difference between two sessions a week and one.

The second thing the arithmetic exposes is which marks are cheap. Diploma grades are built from external papers sat in the May session and from internal assessment completed across the two years. The internal assessment is worth a fixed, published share of every subject grade, it is marked against criteria the student can read, and it is finished months before anyone sees an examination paper. Marks lost there are lost quietly and permanently. Marks gained there are the least expensive grade points available in the whole programme, and they are the ones a tutor can legitimately help with by teaching and reviewing the student's own work.

The delivery position has to be stated before any of this is useful. IB Gram does not run home visits in the UAE; that service exists only in India. Al Warqa lessons are one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. We are not pretending that is identical to a tutor at the kitchen table. We are saying that for a family whose nearest Diploma school is a twenty-five minute drive away, the choice is between a subject specialist on a screen and a generalist who was willing to make the journey, and that the specialist is usually the better purchase.

Everything below is written to be checked. The rate bands name their sources. The context table puts tutoring next to Dubai school fees and examination entry costs so the figure has a scale. The academic-honesty section states what a tutor will not do, because the providers in this market who blur that line are putting a student's IB registration at risk in exchange for a short-term grade. And where coverage is thin, the page says so instead of promising a specialist in every subject at every hour.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Al Warqa students reach three IB programmes, all of them by car. The notes below cover what each stage costs in support terms and what a tutor can change inside it, with the local detail that decides whether buying now or waiting a term is the better call.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three normally at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Most of each subject grade comes from external papers sat in the May session UAE schools use; the rest comes from internal assessment completed during the course. Higher Level carries extra syllabus content and, in several subjects, an extra paper, so the hours required are genuinely different rather than nominally so.

Al Warqa Diploma students mostly travel to Deira International School or Universal American School via Festival City, or to Uptown International School in Mirdif. That journey is the practical argument for fixing a tutoring slot at 17:30 or later and keeping it: a 16:30 booking looks fine on a calendar and fails the first time Ras Al Khor Road backs up.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1 to MYP 5

Middle Years Programme

Five years across eight subject groups, each marked against four criteria scored 0 to 8. There is no external examination, so reports convert criterion totals into a 1 to 7 grade. The cost implication is that general revision is close to worthless here: marks move when the weak criterion is identified and practised, and not otherwise.

For an Al Warqa family the MYP years are where support is cheapest and most effective, because the diagnosis made in MYP 4 is the one that prevents an expensive Higher Level mistake in Year 12. Uptown International School is the nearest full continuum school, so MYP criterion language is familiar to some households here and entirely new to others.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary units of inquiry rather than separate subjects, with reporting written against learner-profile attributes and no criterion marks or examinations. Useful paid support at this stage is narrow: number fluency, reading stamina and the beginnings of written structure. Anything broader is supervision rather than teaching, and should be priced at the bottom of the market band.

Few Al Warqa families buy PYP tutoring and fewer should. The exception is a child moving from a CBSE or British primary into an IB continuum school, where the shift from marks to inquiry-based reporting is disorienting for a term and a short block of sessions genuinely helps.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Two or more Diploma courses combined with a career-related study, a reflective project and a personal and professional skills course. It is assessed through a mix of DP external papers and course-specific coursework, and suits a student who wants IB depth in a few subjects alongside an applied qualification.

The CP is available at a small number of Dubai schools and rarely drives a tutoring enquiry from this area. It is worth naming because a student drowning in the full six-subject Diploma has routes other than abandoning IB, and a tutor who sells more hours instead of mentioning them is not advising honestly.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Diploma support is bought by subject, so the notes below say what each one actually assesses and where Al Warqa students lose marks. Internal assessment shares are published by the IB and are the same wherever the school sits.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebraic fluency, calculus and proof, with Higher Level adding a third paper. The exploration is the internal assessment. Marks are lost in HL on the unseen-structure questions in Paper 2 and on mathematical communication in the exploration, where correct work scores poorly because it is never justified.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and technology-led problem solving. Standard Level suits most social-science and business routes, but several engineering and mathematics degrees specify Analysis and Approaches. Checking a university's own prerequisite page before Year 12 is free and saves an expensive route change later.

Physics

HL and SL

Higher Level carries additional content and a longer examination load. The predictable losses are uncertainties and error propagation, graph gradients with units, and extended explanation questions where command terms are ignored. The scientific investigation is the internal assessment and rewards a controlled, well-justified design.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic mechanisms, energetics and equilibrium account for most dropped marks, along with the data-based questions that look like reading comprehension and are not. Higher Level adds depth rather than breadth, which makes targeted work on two or three topics unusually effective.

Biology

HL and SL

Volume of terminology is the visible problem; the real one is applying it to unfamiliar contexts under timed conditions. Students who can recite a process often cannot answer a question that presents it in a new organism. Past-paper work with command-term discipline is the fix.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy and evaluation carry the grade. Higher Level adds quantitative content and a policy paper. Internal assessment commentaries are a common place to lose marks cheaply, because students summarise an article rather than applying a single clearly identified concept to it.

Business Management

HL and SL

Tools are easy to learn and hard to apply. Marks are lost where a student lists a framework without using the case material, and in the internal assessment where the research question is too broad to answer with the evidence gathered.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Textual analysis under time pressure, the individual oral, and the HL essay. Strong readers lose marks summarising content instead of analysing how a writer's choices produce an effect, which is a technique problem with a short fix.

Psychology

HL and SL

Studies are remembered; critical evaluation is not. The grade sits in weighing methodology, ethics and cultural generalisability, and in the internal assessment's statistical reporting, which students frequently treat as an afterthought.

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

Core, all Diploma students

The core contributes to the overall Diploma total and is where organised students gain ground. A tutor may teach argument structure, question a research question that cannot be answered in the word limit, and comment on the student's own draft. Nobody here produces either piece of work.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements, with the cost of each stated. All run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; none involves a tutor at an Al Warqa address.

One subject, one weekly hour, two years

The standard Diploma arrangement and the one worth costing properly, because it is roughly seventy sessions from the start of Year 12 to the May examinations. It works where a single subject is clearly the problem and the internal assessment in that subject is approached early rather than in the final term.

  • Fixed weekly slot, usually 17:15 or later for Al Warqa addresses
  • Internal assessment work scheduled in the first year, not the last
  • Written feedback after each session naming the next target
  • Reviewed each reporting cycle against the school's own marks

Two subjects, alternating weeks near the core deadlines

Where two subjects are weak, alternating a single weekly hour between them costs half what two slots cost and works surprisingly well in the months when Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay are eating the student's evenings. It stops working in the final term, when both subjects need continuity.

  • One slot, two subjects, alternating fortnightly
  • Collapses into one subject for the final revision block
  • Suits Year 12 rather than Year 13
  • Cheaper than two slots without halving contact in either subject

A finite internal assessment block

Six to eight sessions concentrated on one subject's internal assessment, early enough that the student still has choices about scope. The work remains entirely the student's; the tutor teaches method, questions a research question that cannot be answered within the word limit, and comments on drafts the student has written.

  • Begins before the school's first internal deadline, not after
  • Teaches criteria and method, reviews the student's own drafts
  • Ends on a stated date rather than rolling into weekly tutoring
  • No tutor supplies text, data or a finished section

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Warqa

01

What two years of Diploma support in Al Warqa adds up to

Start from the month rather than the hour, because the month is what a household actually feels. Bestimate's Dubai rate table estimates a weekly one-hour arrangement at AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Packages circulating in this market put eight online sessions at around AED 799 a month, and four two-hour in-home sessions at AED 1,599 to 1,799. Those are published figures from the Dubai market, not IB Gram prices.

Now multiply by the programme. A Diploma runs two academic years, so a single subject at one session a week is roughly seventy sessions before the May examinations. At the middle band that is a total somewhere between AED 12,000 and AED 25,000 for one subject across the whole Diploma. Two subjects doubles it. Nobody shows parents that number at the enquiry stage, which is why so many families drift into a rolling monthly commitment they would have questioned had it been quoted as a total.

The useful conclusion is not that tutoring is expensive. It is that the shape of the spend matters more than the rate. The same total buys either a thin layer of weekly support across two years, or concentrated blocks at the three points where Diploma marks are genuinely decided: the internal assessment in each subject, the transition into Higher Level content in the first term of Year 12, and the final revision run. Families who plan the shape spend less and get more than families who simply start a weekly hour and keep paying.

The travel premium, priced in teaching minutes

The gap between the online band and the in-home band is roughly AED 100 to 200 an hour. It is tempting to read that as a convenience charge. It is better read as the cost of a tutor's unpaid commute, because that is what it is, and in Al Warqa the commute is long. A tutor coming from central Dubai at the hour a school child is free spends forty to sixty minutes each way on Ras Al Khor Road or Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road.

Convert it into the only unit that matters. At AED 200 an hour online, AED 1,000 buys five hours of teaching. At AED 400 an hour in-home, the same AED 1,000 buys two and a half. The in-home arrangement also constrains when teaching can happen, because a tutor making a ninety-minute round trip will only accept a slot that justifies it, which in practice means fewer available times and a booking that collapses the first time traffic does.

There is a second cost that never appears on an invoice: the pool. The set of tutors willing to drive to Al Warqa'a 4 on a Tuesday evening is small, and nothing about willingness to drive predicts knowing why Diploma Chemistry students lose marks on energetics. Online, the constraint is only the clock. A specialist free at 17:30 Gulf Standard Time is available regardless of where they sleep, and that is the whole argument for the format rather than any claim about screens being better than rooms.

Internal assessment is the cheapest grade point in the Diploma

Every Diploma subject carries internal assessment worth a published share of the final grade, completed during the course and marked by the school against IB criteria before external moderation. In the sciences it is the scientific investigation; in Mathematics it is the exploration; in Economics it is a set of commentaries; in the languages it is an oral and, at Higher Level, an essay. The share differs by subject and level, and the school will tell you the exact figure for each of your child's six.

Two features make these the least expensive marks in the programme. They are produced without time pressure, over weeks, with the criteria visible to the student from the start. And they are finished long before anyone sits a paper, so a weakness addressed in the first year cannot resurface in May. A student who treats internal assessment as homework and the examinations as the real event has given away a fixed percentage of six subject grades for nothing.

What a tutor may legitimately do here is specific and worth writing down, because this is exactly the territory where the worst providers in this market operate. A tutor may teach the method, explain each criterion in the words the examiner uses, challenge a research question that cannot be answered within the word limit, and give feedback on a draft the student has written. No tutor at IB Gram supplies text, data, analysis or a finished section for an Internal Assessment, an Extended Essay or a Theory of Knowledge essay. One Dubai provider found during research sells completed Internal Assessments outright; that is academic malpractice under IB rules and the consequence lands on the student, not the seller.

Tutoring cost in context: Dubai fees, entry fees and the 2026-27 freeze

A tutoring figure means nothing without a scale beside it. Dubai's private school sector served 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering seventeen curricula in 2024-25, with UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian at 26 per cent, US at 14 per cent and the International Baccalaureate at 7 per cent. The 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places; six new schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose by 6 per cent.

The number that changes a household budget is the fee decision. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in the emirate for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For an Al Warqa family that means the tutoring line is not competing with a fee rise this year, which is a genuinely unusual position and a sensible moment to plan the two-year shape rather than drift into monthly payments.

The other context is examination entry, which parents in Dubai routinely forget until a school invoice arrives. Entry fees are set by the school or, for private candidates, by the examination centre, and they are separate from tuition and from tutoring. Nobody should publish a single figure for them because they vary by centre and by subject count. The point for budgeting is simply that the two-year Diploma total includes a school fee, an entry cost and, if you choose it, a tutoring cost, and only the third is optional.

Where the Diploma money should go first

Families almost always buy tutoring in response to a grade, and the grade is the least informative thing on a Diploma report. A 4 in Higher Level Chemistry can mean a content gap in two topics, an inability to read a data-based question, or a student who understands the chemistry and writes answers that ignore the command term. Those are three different purchases, and only one of them is a weekly hour for two years.

The cheapest diagnostic is marked work. Two recent papers with the examiner's or teacher's annotations on them show the pattern within a session, and a competent tutor will ask for them before quoting anything. If a provider quotes a package before seeing any of the student's work, they are selling hours rather than diagnosing a problem, and the price is the only thing they can differentiate on.

The table below is the triage we actually use. It maps what a report or a paper looks like to the likely cause and the first thing worth buying, with a rough duration. None of it is a promise about a grade. No tutor, however experienced with Diploma mark schemes, can promise a Diploma score, and a provider who does is telling you something about their marketing rather than their teaching. The durations are honest estimates from the pattern in the work, and they are the figure to hold a tutor to at the six-week review rather than a vague sense that things feel better. A content gap that was supposed to take four sessions and is still open after ten is a signal that the diagnosis was wrong, which is useful information and considerably cheaper to act on than another term of the same arrangement.

Two children, two timetables, one Al Warqa evening

  • Two children, two subject specialists, one evening, no second journey
  • Ramadan sessions move to post-Iftar timing without renegotiation
  • Travel during school holidays keeps the slot by shifting the clock
  • Examination weeks can take three sessions, quiet weeks none

A detail that matters more in this community than the rate does: Al Warqa households commonly run two or three children at different schools on different timetables. One is collected from Al Qusais at 14:45, another from Festival City at 15:30, a third does sport until 17:00. A single visiting tutor cannot serve that household without someone waiting, and the waiting is usually the younger child doing nothing useful for an hour.

Online scheduling dissolves the problem rather than solving it cleverly. Two children can be taught on the same evening at different times by different subject specialists, from the same house, with no second journey and no overlap. A sibling who needs MYP Sciences and a Year 13 who needs Higher Level Mathematics are two different tutors, and in-home delivery forces a household to choose between them or pay two travel premiums.

The same flexibility handles the parts of the Dubai year that break fixed arrangements. Ramadan shifts the whole evening, and sessions move to post-Iftar timing without anyone renegotiating a driving commitment. Families travelling during the long summer keep the slot by changing the clock rather than cancelling the block. School examination weeks, when a student needs three sessions one week and none the next, are a scheduling change rather than a contractual one. The same applies to the stretch of the Dubai year when Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay deadlines collide with mock papers and a household genuinely cannot hold a fixed hour. Moving a slot by ninety minutes costs nobody anything when there is no journey attached to it, and that single fact removes most of the friction that makes families abandon tutoring halfway through Year 12.

07

The honesty line that protects your money and your child's registration

  • A tutor teaches, questions and reviews; the student writes every word
  • Malpractice sanctions fall on the candidate, not the provider
  • No regulator or examination board accreditation is claimed by IB Gram
  • No grade, score or improvement is promised anywhere on this site

This market contains providers who will finish a student's coursework for a fee. Research for these pages found one selling completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750. That is not an aggressive form of tutoring, it is academic malpractice under IB rules, and the sanction falls on the candidate: a malpractice finding can cost the Diploma itself. Any parent weighing a cheap route to a finished IA should price in that risk, because the provider does not carry it.

The legitimate boundary is not vague. A tutor teaches the method, explains the criteria in the examiner's own language, questions whether a research question can be answered within the word limit, and comments on a draft the student has written. A tutor does not supply text, data, analysis, a structure the student could not have produced, or edits so heavy that the authorship changes. On the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge essay the same line holds, and so does the student's declaration of authenticity.

Two related claims are worth refusing on sight. Nobody should describe themselves as approved or accredited by KHDA, ADEK, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson unless they hold the specific permit and can show its number; IB Gram holds none of those and does not claim them. And no provider should promise a grade, a score or an improvement. A tutor can make a weakness visible and teach the technique that fixes it. What the student does in the examination hall in May is not a product anyone can sell.

08

What to ask before paying, and what a good answer sounds like

  • Ask what they saw in the marked work, before any package is quoted
  • Ask for the MoHRE permit; it is free and takes two working days
  • Ask what they will refuse to do with an internal assessment
  • Agree the review point and the exit before the first payment

Five questions separate a tutoring purchase from a subscription. First: what did you see in my child's marked work? An answer that describes a pattern in the papers is worth more than any qualification list. Second: what will you do that the school is not already doing? A school gives twenty-five students the same explanation; the value of one-to-one is that it does not have to.

Third: do you hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit? The permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time through its app, website and e-services. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. Because it is free and fast, there is no good reason not to hold it, and asking costs nothing.

Fourth: what will you not do with the internal assessment? The right answer is immediate and specific. Fifth: how do we stop? An arrangement with no review point becomes a standing order. Six weeks, then a check against the school's own reporting, then extend or end, is the shape that keeps a two-year Diploma budget under control. At IB Gram the trial lesson is free, there is no fixed term, and if we cannot staff a subject at the level you need we will say so rather than improvise. A sixth question is worth adding where a provider is quoting a monthly package: what is the total across the Diploma at this rate? Hearing that number out loud changes how families choose, which is presumably why so few pages in this market print it.

Where we tutor

Al Warqa and the communities on the same school run

These are the pockets whose IB families share Al Warqa's constraints: a long drive to the nearest Diploma school, a late return, and almost no resident subject specialists. The notes are practical rather than scenic.

Al Warqa'a 1

Closest to Al Qusais and the Metro Green Line, with the shortest runs to Westminster and Apple International. Children home by about 15:45, which makes a 16:30 start workable here and nowhere else in the community.

Al Warqa'a 2 and 3

Villa plots towards Al Khawaneej Road. Longer runs to Mirdif and Festival City schools push a realistic weekday start to 17:15 or 17:30, and activity schedules compete for exactly those slots.

Al Warqa'a 4 and 5

The newest edge of the community, nearest Al Awir Road. Families here often drive to Academic City, adding a further twenty minutes in each direction, so one later session holds better than two early ones.

Mirdif

Where much of the local school supply actually sits, including Uptown International School on the IB continuum. Mirdif-schooled children can start at 16:00, which is why siblings at different schools need different slots.

Al Qusais

Dense school cluster to the north, mainly CBSE and British. Diploma students travel out of it rather than into it, and pickup traffic around Damascus Street is the variable that breaks an early booking.

Al Mizhar and Al Khawaneej

Villa communities east of Al Warqa feeding the same Mirdif schools. Short commutes but heavy after-school sport, so two fixed weekday slots prove easier to protect than four flexible ones.

Nad Al Hamar

Between Al Warqa and Al Rashidiya with fast access to Ras Al Khor Road. Very few resident specialists in any Diploma subject, which is precisely the gap online delivery closes.

Dubai Festival City

Deira International School and Universal American School sit here, drawing Diploma students out of Al Warqa daily. Return traffic across the creek is the reason a 17:30 session survives and a 16:45 one does not.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Warqa

Al Warqa, Al Qusais and Mirdif

The schools immediately around the community. The local supply is mostly CBSE and British rather than IB, which is why Al Warqa Diploma families drive, and why a tutor who happens to live nearby is unlikely to be a Diploma subject specialist.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Send two marked papers

Not the report card, and not a description of the worry. Two recently marked pieces of work in the weakest subject show the pattern faster than any conversation, and they let a tutor tell you whether you need four sessions or forty before anybody quotes a package.

  2. 02

Fix the slot around the real school run

For most Al Warqa addresses that means 17:15 or later on a weekday, earlier at the Al Qusais end of the community, and later again for families driving to Academic City. Choosing the time before the tutor prevents the usual quiet failure of a good match in an impossible slot.

  3. 03

Use the free trial as a diagnostic

By the end of it you should have a named weakness, an explanation of why marks are lost there, and an estimate in weeks. If you instead get a sales conversation and a monthly figure, change the match. The trial costs nothing and is the only cheap way to test a tutor.

  4. 04

Plan the two-year shape, not just this month

Decide now where the concentrated work goes: the internal assessment in each weak subject, the first term of Higher Level content, and the final revision run. Families who plan the shape spend less across the Diploma than families who start a weekly hour and let it run.

  5. 05

Review against the school's marks, then decide

After six weeks compare the school's own assessment data, not the tutor's impression. Extend, switch subject, or stop. A review date agreed in advance is what turns an open-ended monthly cost back into a decision.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The total, not just the hourly rate

One subject at a weekly hour is roughly seventy sessions across the Diploma. We publish that total in dirhams alongside the monthly figure, because the monthly figure is how families end up committing to an amount they never agreed to.

Figures with their sources attached

Every AED band on this page names the provider or rate table that published it, with the month it was read. Three of the six competitor pages researched for this project publish no price at all, and two quote US dollars to families who transact in dirhams.

Online one-to-one, said plainly and early

Al Warqa lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE; that is an India-only service. You will not discover the format after booking.

Internal assessment treated as the priority it is

A fixed published share of every subject grade is decided before anyone sits a paper. We schedule that work in the first year, teach the criteria in the examiner's language, and review the student's own drafts without ever writing them.

No accreditation claims, no grade promises

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, Ministry of Education, IB, Cambridge or Pearson approval and claims none. No page here promises a score, a grade improvement or a refund tied to a result, because none of those is a thing a tutor can deliver.

Coverage limits stated before you book

Where no specialist is free in a subject at the level you need, you get a time estimate, a named alternative, or an honest decline. Nobody is matched quietly to a tutor outside their subject and left to find out in week three.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Warqa: your questions answered

How much does an IB home tutor in Al Warqa cost per month?+

Published Dubai figures put a weekly one-hour arrangement at roughly AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 for a qualified subject tutor, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support, according to Bestimate's Dubai rate table. Packages in this market show eight online sessions at around AED 799 a month and four two-hour in-home sessions at AED 1,599 to 1,799. IB Gram quotes after a free trial rather than from a price list, because the sensible figure depends on how many subjects are actually weak.

What does two years of IB tutoring in Al Warqa cost in total?+

One subject at one session a week from the start of Year 12 to the May examinations is roughly seventy sessions. At the qualified-tutor band of AED 150 to 300 an hour that is somewhere between AED 11,000 and AED 21,000 for a single subject across the whole Diploma, and roughly double for two. Almost nobody is shown the total at the enquiry stage, which is how families drift into a rolling monthly commitment. Planning where the concentrated work goes usually costs less than letting a weekly hour run untouched for two years.

Is there an option for a tutor to visit our Al Warqa villa?+

No. IB Gram does not provide home visits anywhere in the UAE; home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Every Al Warqa lesson is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. In this community that is usually the better arrangement regardless: a tutor driving from central Dubai at the hour your child is free spends forty to sixty minutes each way and prices that into the rate, and the pool shrinks to tutors willing to make the journey rather than tutors who know the subject.

Why is an in-home tutor in Al Warqa so much more expensive than online?+

Because you are paying for the commute. The gap between the bands is roughly AED 100 to 200 an hour, and Al Warqa sits far enough east that a tutor from central Dubai spends most of an hour in each direction. Converted into teaching, AED 1,000 buys between three and seven hours online and between two and five and a half in-home. The hidden cost is the smaller choice of tutors: willingness to drive to Al Warqa'a 4 on a Tuesday tells you nothing about whether someone can teach Higher Level Chemistry.

Which part of the IB Diploma gives the best return on tutoring spend?+

Internal assessment, by a clear margin. Every subject carries it, it is worth a published share of the final grade, it is produced over weeks without time pressure, and it is finished long before any examination. A weakness fixed there cannot return in May. Students who treat it as homework hand back a fixed percentage of six subject grades. A finite block of six to eight sessions, started before the school's first internal deadline, is usually better value than a year of general weekly support.

What can a tutor legitimately do with my child's IB internal assessment?+

Teach the method, explain each criterion in the examiner's own wording, challenge a research question that cannot be answered within the word limit, and give feedback on a draft the student has written. That is the full list. No tutor should supply text, data, analysis or a finished section, and no tutor should edit so heavily that authorship changes. One Dubai provider found during research sells completed Internal Assessments outright. Under IB rules that is malpractice, and the sanction falls on the candidate rather than the seller.

What time can an Al Warqa IB lesson realistically begin on a school night?+

It depends which end of the community you live in. Al Warqa'a 1 families, with short runs to Al Qusais schools, can usually hold 16:30. Al Warqa'a 2 and 3 should plan for 17:15 or 17:30, because the run goes to Mirdif or Festival City. Al Warqa'a 4 and 5 families driving to Academic City often need 17:45. Fixing the time before choosing the tutor matters: the commonest reason a good match quietly fails is a slot that never actually worked on a Tuesday.

Can one tutor cover two Diploma subjects for the same Al Warqa student?+

Sometimes, and it is worth asking rather than assuming. Mathematics and Physics is a common and genuine pairing; so is Chemistry and Biology. Economics and Business Management overlap less than they appear to. What you should resist is a single tutor covering four unrelated subjects, which usually means general school support rather than subject teaching. Where two subjects are both weak, alternating one weekly slot fortnightly costs half as much as two slots and works well in Year 12, though not in the final term.

Does my child's Diploma school in Dubai set the examination entry fees?+

Entry is arranged through the school for enrolled candidates, or through an examination centre for private candidates, and the cost sits separately from both school fees and tutoring. Amounts vary by centre and by how many subjects are entered, so no single figure is worth publishing. For budgeting, the point is that a two-year Diploma carries a school fee, an entry cost and an optional tutoring cost, and the school's finance office can give you the first two precisely. IB Gram has no role in entry or registration.

Are Dubai school fees going up, and should that change our tutoring plan?+

KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For an Al Warqa household that means the tutoring line is not competing with a fee rise this year. It is a reasonable moment to plan the full two-year shape of Diploma support deliberately, rather than starting a weekly hour and discovering the total eighteen months later.

How do I know whether my child needs four tutoring sessions or forty?+

Marked work tells you, and nothing else does reliably. Good classwork with poor timed papers is technique and pacing, usually six to eight sessions. Marks lost across every answer type in one topic is a content gap, three to five sessions. Correct method with low marks is a command-term problem, four to six. Falling in several subjects at once is almost always workload and organisation rather than subject knowledge, and buying four subjects of tutoring makes it worse. Any provider quoting a package before seeing the work is selling hours.

We have two children on different school timetables. Does that work?+

It works considerably better online than with a visiting tutor. Al Warqa households commonly run children at Al Qusais, Mirdif and Festival City schools with pickups spread across ninety minutes. Two children can be taught on the same evening at different times by two different subject specialists from the same house, with no second journey and nobody waiting. An in-home arrangement forces you to choose one child's subject or pay two travel premiums, which is a poor use of the same budget.

Can sessions move during Ramadan or when we travel over the summer?+

Yes, and this is one of the practical advantages of the format. Ramadan shifts the whole evening, and lessons move to post-Iftar timing without renegotiating anyone's driving commitment. Families travelling during the long holidays keep their slot by changing the clock rather than cancelling the block. Examination weeks, where a student wants three sessions one week and none the next, are a scheduling change rather than a contractual one. None of that is possible when a tutor's journey is part of the arrangement.

Can anyone promise my child a higher IB score if we pay for tutoring?+

No, and you should treat the promise itself as the warning. A tutor can make a weakness visible, teach the technique that addresses it, and build the past-paper habit that converts knowledge into marks. What a student does in the examination hall in May is not a product. Equally, nobody in this market should describe themselves as approved or accredited by KHDA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson without the specific permit number to show. IB Gram holds none of those and claims none.

What if there is no tutor available for my child's subject at the level we need?+

You get told, with an estimate of how long a match is likely to take. Higher Level Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English are well covered. Less commonly requested subjects, and some language options, take longer and are occasionally declined outright. Where a near alternative is genuinely useful it is offered as an alternative and named as one, not quietly substituted. Where neither applies, declining the booking is the right answer, and it is cheaper for you than three weeks with the wrong tutor.
