IGCSE Maths Tutor in Dubai Investments Park

Families looking for an IGCSE maths tutor in Dubai Investments Park usually want to know two things: what this costs, and whether it will work. Those questions are connected, because the spending that fails is almost always spending nobody aimed. This page prices each intervention, names what it buys, and sets out the four ways maths tutoring money gets wasted. Lessons are delivered live online on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Every intervention priced as a block with a completion test
  • Cambridge 0580 and Edexcel 4MA1 taught as separate papers
  • The four ways tutoring money gets wasted, named plainly

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Investments Park

The money is not wasted on the rate, it is wasted on the aim

Dubai Investments Park sits in the southern corridor, split between DIP 1 and DIP 2, mixing industrial and commercial plots with residential enclaves including Green Community and Ritaj, served by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, Emirates Road and its own Metro station towards Expo City. A British-curriculum school and two IB schools sit inside the district, and most secondary students travel out to Jebel Ali, Al Furjan or Dubai South.

Families here ask about cost earlier in the conversation than families in central districts, and they are right to. In a corridor where the school run already consumes several hours a week, tutoring has to justify itself in both money and time. So this page leads with the arithmetic rather than burying it, and the arithmetic has a clear conclusion: the hourly rate is rarely where the waste happens.

The waste happens in four places. Buying general weekly mathematics support when the marked script showed one specific failure. Continuing after the problem is solved because nobody set a review point. Paying a premium rate for revision of content the student already knows. And paying for practice built from the wrong board's past papers, which is the quietest and most complete waste of all because everybody involved is working hard.

Avoiding all four costs nothing. Read the marked script, name the failure, confirm whether your child sits Cambridge 0580 or Pearson Edexcel 4MA1, ask any prospective tutor how many sessions the fix should take and what will show it is done, and set a review point before the first session rather than after the tenth. That is the whole method, and it reliably turns a vague monthly cost into a finite, comparable block.

It is worth being concrete about how short most fixes are, because that is what changes a budget conversation. Method marks lost to unshown working is roughly four sessions. Premature rounding is two. A calculator left in the wrong angular mode is one or two. Histograms with unequal class widths, and conditional probability without replacement, are about three each. At mid-market rates those are costs in the low hundreds to low thousands of dirhams, with an observable test of whether the money worked.

The expensive exception is worth naming in the same breath. A genuine algebraic fluency gap is not a block at all; it is a term of short regular work, because fluency is built by repetition over time rather than fixed by explanation. A family told that honestly can decide whether to commit. A family not told it discovers the same thing after four sessions have produced nothing, and usually blames the tutor.

One premise, stated plainly: IB Gram delivers one-to-one IGCSE mathematics tuition into DIP homes as live online video sessions on Gulf Standard Time, with working shared and annotated on screen. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-person home visits are a service we run only in India. In this corridor the in-home option also carries the highest travel premium in the market, which the tables below set out with sources.

At a glance

  • Cambridge 0580 is tiered Core and Extended; Edexcel 4MA1 is Foundation and Higher
  • Market rates: qualified online subject tutor roughly AED 150 to 300 per hour
  • In-home visits run AED 180 to 500 including travel, per Bestimate's 2026 Dubai table
  • Four sessions is the usual block for method marks lost to unshown working
  • UAE candidates sit June and November; the February and March series is India-only
  • Every block should carry a stated test of completion, not just an end date

Mathematics at IGCSE arrives in several versions and the version decides the cost of fixing a problem. Each is described below by what it demands and what support it typically needs.

0580Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics

Tiered Core and Extended, with papers set per tier and the Core tier capped below the top grades. Extended carries the algebra, trigonometry and function work that post-16 mathematics assumes. Papers reward method, so unshown working forfeits marks even where the final answer is correct.

Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, because it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong one. The authoritative timetable is the one the school's exams officer holds.

4MA1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A

Tiered Foundation and Higher, with a different paper structure from Cambridge and different mark allocation conventions. Content overlaps heavily, which is why families confuse the two, and the overlap is no help to a student who has practised the wrong format all term.

Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series and revises them, so plan against the live official document. Checkable reference points: June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026; November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026.

0606Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Cambridge Additional Mathematics

Taken alongside 0580 by stronger cohorts as a bridge to A Level or Higher Level IB, introducing calculus and more formal function work. A student comfortable in 0580 Extended who struggles here usually has a speed and fluency gap, which responds to short regular practice rather than to re-teaching.

Where a school in this corridor offers it, Additional Mathematics is the clearest available signal that a student is ready for post-16 mathematics. Where it is not offered, the equivalent evidence is a timed Extended paper taken under examination conditions.

POST-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

What the tier decides next

This corridor mixes British-curriculum schools offering A Level with IB schools offering the Diploma, and some offer both. A capped mathematics entry removes a prerequisite regardless of the grade achieved within it, so a Core or Foundation candidate is not positioned for A Level Mathematics or Higher Level Analysis and Approaches.

Families here move schools more often than in established districts because the corridor is still filling, so a tier decision taken at one school can bind at another with a different post-16 offer. That is a cost consideration as well as an academic one, since reopening a closed route is expensive and often impossible.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

IGCSE mathematics is best organised by the failure that shows up in marked work, because that is what a block of sessions can be aimed at and costed against.

Algebraic manipulation

All tiers

Expanding, factorising, rearranging and solving. Fluency here determines performance everywhere else, and a genuine fluency gap is the one problem on this page that costs a term rather than a block, which is why identifying it early matters financially.

Equations and simultaneous systems

Extended and Higher weighted

Quadratics by factorising, formula and completing the square, plus simultaneous equations including one non-linear at the higher tiers. Marks go missing when a solution set is found and never checked against the original condition.

Functions and graphs

Extended and Higher weighted

Sketching, transformations, gradients, intercepts and interpretation. Lost marks usually come from sketches that are qualitatively right but missing the labelled features the question named, which is a reading failure rather than a mathematical one.

Geometry and mensuration

All tiers

Angle reasoning, circle properties, similarity, and area and volume of composite solids. Reasons are marked as well as answers, so an unstated angle fact forfeits the explanation mark even where the number is right.

Trigonometry

Extended and Higher weighted

Right-angled and non-right-angled triangles, bearings and three-dimensional problems. The recurring failure is a calculator left in the wrong angular mode, which is a one to two session fix and is almost never diagnosed because each instance looks like carelessness.

Statistics and data handling

All tiers

Averages from grouped data, cumulative frequency, histograms with unequal intervals and scatter graphs. Histograms are reliably the worst-answered topic here because frequency density gets treated as optional, and three sessions usually closes it.

Probability

All tiers

Tree diagrams, conditional probability and set notation at the higher tiers. Errors cluster around failure to adjust for non-replacement, and around products left unsimplified where a value was asked for.

Vectors and transformations

Extended and Higher

Column vectors, magnitude and geometric reasoning. Marks are available for the reasoning chain rather than the final vector, so answers given without intermediate statements score below their apparent worth.

Number in context and precision

All tiers

Fractions, percentages, ratio, standard form and bounds. Premature rounding is the dominant error, producing answers just outside the accepted range on work that was correct throughout, and it is a two-session fix with a rule.

Method presentation and timing

All tiers

Showing working so method marks are collected, and holding a per-question time budget. Together these account for more lost marks across a paper than any single topic, and both are trainable in four sessions without new content.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three patterns, each with a price shape and a test of completion. All are live one-to-one video sessions, and none involves a tutor travelling to a UAE address.

Costed short block

Three to five sessions on one failure identified from a marked script, with the session count and the completion test agreed before the first session. This is the cheapest useful intervention in IGCSE mathematics and the one families most often skip in favour of an open weekly arrangement.

  • Session count estimated from the script, in advance
  • A stated test of completion, not just an end date
  • Practice drawn from the correct board and tier only
  • Finishes early if the test is met early

Term-long fluency work

One short session a week across a term where the diagnosis points to a genuine algebraic fluency gap rather than a technique habit. Slower and more expensive, and the honest answer when the script shows scattered losses with no single pattern.

  • Short regular sessions rather than long infrequent ones
  • Fluency treated as a trainable skill with measurable speed
  • Reviewed at the school's next assessment point
  • Stated plainly as the longer and costlier road

Pre-series block with a weekend paper

A short weekday technique session plus a longer weekend slot for full timed papers, across the weeks before the June or November series. Built for a corridor household where a complete paper cannot be sat on a weekday evening.

  • Full papers at the weekend, technique midweek
  • Papers taken cold, before the related revision
  • Marks predicted by the student before they are given
  • Ends at a stated review point before the series

IB and IGCSE tutors available to students in Dubai Investments Park

DIP families are matched with tutors who will tell you how many sessions a problem should take and what will show that it is finished. A tutor who cannot estimate a block length from a marked script is proposing an open-ended arrangement, which is the most expensive product in this market.

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Investments Park

01

What the market charges, cheapest first

Three of six researched competitor pages publish no price at all, two quote in US dollars and one publishes a star rating it awarded itself. So the first useful thing a page in this market can do is publish the bands, attributed and dated, so any quote you receive can be judged against something.

Budget online provision starts lowest: Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52 per hour and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65. At that level you are generally buying a university student or a general tutor, which is appropriate for homework supervision and practice company and is not appropriate for diagnosing why an Extended candidate is losing method marks across a whole paper.

The middle band is where most IGCSE mathematics work sits: roughly AED 150 to 300 per hour for a qualified subject tutor online, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. Specialists run AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270 and BartyED at AED 650 at the premium end. In-home one-to-one visits run AED 180 to 500 including travel per Bestimate's 2026 Dubai cost table.

All of these are other providers' published figures as at October 2026, not an IB Gram price list; ours is set after the free trial because it depends on the block the diagnosis actually requires. For wider household context, KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in Dubai private school fees for the 2026-27 academic year under the emirate's second economic incentives package, which makes tutoring the main variable line in most education budgets this year.

What each block buys, and how you know it is finished

An hourly rate is not a price; it is a unit. What a family actually buys is a block of sessions aimed at a problem, and a block can only be priced if the problem has been named and the length estimated. This is the table that makes a tutoring decision finite.

Notice how short most of the blocks are. Method marks lost to unshown working: four sessions. Premature rounding: two. Angular mode in trigonometry: one or two. Histograms: three. Conditional probability: three. Timing: four. At mid-market rates those are costs in the low hundreds to low thousands of dirhams, with a clear test of whether the money worked.

Notice also the last row, which is the expensive one. A genuine algebraic fluency gap is a term of short regular work, because fluency is built by repetition over time rather than fixed by explanation. Being told that honestly is worth money: a family that knows it is buying a term can decide whether to, rather than discovering it after four sessions produced nothing.

The completion test column is the part to insist on with any provider. A block with an end date drifts; a block with a test ends. The student predicting their own mark before it is given, the error disappearing from the log, a timed paper where the back page is no longer blank: these are observable, and they let a parent say with confidence that the spending achieved what it was for.

03

The four ways the money gets wasted

These are the failure modes, in rough order of how much they cost. None of them involves a bad tutor, which is why they are so persistent: in every case somebody is working hard and the money is still going nowhere.

First, buying general support with no diagnosis. A weekly mathematics session aimed at the subject rather than at a component will spend most of its time on material the student already knows, because that is what fills a syllabus. This is the single largest source of waste in this market, and the fix is one marked script read before anything is booked.

Second, continuing after the problem is solved. Without a stated completion test, a block becomes a standing arrangement, and a standing arrangement gets reviewed when the invoice becomes uncomfortable rather than when the work is done. Third, paying a specialist premium for content revision, which is paying AED 270 an hour for supervision that a budget-band tutor could provide equally well, because the task is practice rather than diagnosis.

Fourth, and the quietest: practice built from the wrong board's past papers. Cambridge 0580 and Edexcel 4MA1 differ in paper structure, mark allocation and tier vocabulary, departments choose independently, and the content overlap is large enough that nobody notices until a paper feels unfamiliar. This waste is total rather than partial, and it costs one email to prevent.

A fifth failure deserves mention because it is specific to households under time pressure: booking three subjects at once because all three feel urgent. Three simultaneous plans with no sequencing produce three shallow efforts and no completed fix, at three times the cost. One component, verified on a timed paper, then the next, is both cheaper and faster.

04

Cambridge 0580 against Edexcel 4MA1

Across the researched competitor pages for this market, exactly one syllabus code appeared in an entire seven-page cluster. That silence is the reason the board mismatch persists: families are never told the distinction matters, so they never check it, and the error is invisible from inside a session because the content overlaps heavily.

What differs is the examination rather than the mathematics. Paper structure, the number and length of papers, mark allocation conventions and topic weighting all vary. Tier vocabulary differs outright, with Cambridge setting Core and Extended while Edexcel Mathematics sets Foundation and Higher, which creates a specific hazard: a parent translating between those terms on a phone call can agree to the wrong entry without anyone noticing.

Check per subject rather than per school, because departments choose independently and a single student can sit Cambridge 0580 Mathematics alongside Edexcel Chemistry in the same year. The code is printed on the school's assessment paperwork and the subject teacher will confirm it in a line. Then state it to the tutor in writing and ask which series their practice papers come from.

On dates: Cambridge runs June and November for a candidate sitting in Dubai, with the February and March series offered to India only, and Edexcel runs May and June and November. Both publish provisional timetables ahead of a series and revise them, so plan from the official live document rather than from any restated date.

One further check costs nothing and catches the problem early. Ask the tutor to tell you, in writing, which code and which series each practice paper came from. A tutor with an organised set answers immediately; one who is improvising cannot, and improvised practice in Year 11 is the quietest way for a term and a budget to disappear together.

05

The tier decision as a financial decision

  • The capped tier needs fewer hours for a secure grade; that is a legitimate choice
  • A capped entry removes a post-16 prerequisite whatever grade is achieved
  • Reopening a closed route costs more than the extension work would have
  • Decide with a timed harder-tier paper rather than with a conversation about comfort

The tier entry is usually discussed in academic terms and it is also a money decision, because the two tiers need different amounts of work and because a capped entry closes a route that is expensive or impossible to reopen later.

On the work side, a secure grade within the capped tier needs fewer hours than a competitive grade at the fuller tier, since the extension topics absorb most of the tutoring time. A family choosing the capped tier for a student who genuinely belongs there is buying a cheaper and more certain outcome, and there is nothing wrong with that.

On the route side, the cost runs the other way. A Core or Foundation mathematics entry does not position a student for A Level Mathematics or for Higher Level Analysis and Approaches, whatever grade is achieved inside the cap. Reopening that route later means a resit or a different post-16 plan, both of which cost considerably more than the extension work would have. In this corridor the risk is higher because families move schools as the area fills, and post-16 provision varies between the established Jebel Ali schools and the newer ones near Dubai South.

Decide with a timed paper from the harder tier, taken now, with no notes and marked honestly. Mid-range or above and the decision is made. Near the bottom of the range and there is a genuine question about whether a block closes the gap in the weeks available, which is exactly the question a costed block answers. Ask the subject teacher for the confirmation deadline and work backwards from it.

06

Why in-home costs more out here than it looks

In-home one-to-one visits in Dubai run roughly AED 180 to 500 per hour with travel built into the rate, according to Bestimate's 2026 Dubai cost table, against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online. In Dubai Investments Park that headline gap understates the real difference for three reasons.

First, the travel component is doing more work here. DIP sits in the southern corridor off two motorways, and a tutor coming from a central district is making a long journey at the busiest hour. Rates quoted for central areas are not a reliable guide to what will be quoted for an address here, and some providers apply a surcharge outside a stated radius.

Second, the pool shrinks. The willingness to make that drive is a filter applied before any question of subject expertise, so a family insisting on in-home delivery is selecting from a short list that gets shorter for every specific requirement added. Paying more for a smaller choice is the opposite of what a premium is supposed to buy.

Third, reliability costs money indirectly. A session that depends on a vehicle arriving through afternoon traffic is a session that starts late or gets cancelled, and in a household already short of hours each lost session is both a sunk cost and a gap in the plan. An online session has no journey of its own, so it starts when it is booked and can be moved when the school run goes wrong.

What to verify before paying anyone

  • A published rate, or a clear statement of how it is set, in dirhams
  • A stated position on the MoHRE private tuition work permit
  • A free trial with its conditions on the same screen
  • A tutor who can name board, code and tier, and estimate a block
  • No claimed regulator or examination board approval
  • A review point agreed before the first session, tied to a school assessment

Comparing tutoring providers on warmth is unreliable, because warmth is the easiest thing to produce. These five items are checkable, and a provider who answers all five plainly is telling you something real about how they operate.

One: a published rate, or at minimum a clear statement of how the price is set, in dirhams rather than a currency you do not transact in. Two: a stated position on the MoHRE private tuition work permit, which individuals offering private lessons in the UAE need under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, which is granted free of charge for two years, and whose absence exposes the tutor to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so treat any quoted figure with suspicion.

Three: a free trial with any condition stated on the same screen, such as its length, eligibility or whether a commitment follows. Four: a tutor who can name the board, the syllabus code and the entered tier, and who can estimate a block length from a marked script. Five: no claimed approval from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson, because an independent tutoring platform holds none and IB Gram holds none either. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is issued to training institutes with premises and says nothing about an individual tutor.

There is a sixth item which is not about the provider at all: your own review point. Agree, before the first session, what will be looked at and when. A school assessment or mock is the right trigger. Without that, the most likely outcome is not a bad tutor but an unreviewed arrangement, which is how a reasonable hourly rate becomes an unreasonable annual total.

08

Starting from Dubai Investments Park

  • Send board and code, tier, school, two marked papers and a sustainable session length
  • Free trial lesson gives the failure and the estimated block length
  • Insist on a completion test, not just an end date
  • No grade promises, no claimed approvals, no invented statistics

Send five things: the board and code, the tier, the school, the last two marked mathematics papers, and the session length your household can sustain on a weekday. The free trial lesson comes before any payment and produces the two numbers that make the decision financial rather than vague: which failure you have, and how many sessions it should take.

Ask for the completion test in the same conversation. If a provider cannot say what will show that the block worked, the block has no end, and a block with no end is the most expensive thing in this market. We would rather tell you that a problem is four sessions than sell a term, partly because it is true and partly because a family that gets a true answer comes back for the next component.

What will not be claimed. No grade promise, because nobody can honestly make one, and no claim that a particular grade is achievable with a particular number of sessions. No suggestion that tutoring is required for Ministry of Education equivalency, university admission or school progression, which would be a false claim about a regulatory process. No regulator or board approval, no UAE office or centre, and no satisfaction statistics, because a figure without its sample, date and method is decoration.

Two final notes. Enquiry forms collect information about a child, so we ask only for what the plan needs, state why, and keep a privacy link on every page; we do not ask for a photograph and you can ask for the record to be deleted. And we do not publish or supply Cambridge or Pearson past papers, mark schemes or syllabus documents as downloads, because that material is the boards' copyright. We cite it, link to it, and work from what your school legitimately provides.

Where we tutor

Dubai Investments Park and the corridor around it

Location affects the session hour and, for in-home options, the travel premium. Each note gives the practical detail rather than a description of the community.

Dubai Investments Park 1 and 2

Industrial and commercial plots with residential enclaves inside a large footprint. Low residential density means thin local tutor supply, and the distance from central Dubai means the highest in-home travel premium in the market.

Green Community and Ritaj

Established residential enclaves within DIP. Arrival home ranges from under four o'clock to past five depending on school and transport, which sets what a weekday session can contain.

Al Furjan

Villas and townhouses north of DIP with a Metro station and a British-curriculum school inside the community, giving shorter runs and a realistic 5.15pm start for most addresses.

Jebel Ali

Established British-curriculum schools serving the corridor, with a return journey in afternoon traffic that typically puts a secondary student home between 4.45pm and 5.30pm.

Discovery Gardens

Dense apartment living where nearly every child is bussed out, giving long runs both ways and pushing the practical weekday start towards 6pm.

Dubai South and Emaar South

The newest part of the corridor around Expo City, with long runs and recent schools, so families here supplement at senior level more often than in older districts.

The Sustainable City

A planned community towards Al Qudra with a school inside it and walkable access, giving the earliest achievable session starts anywhere nearby.

Dubai Production City

A mixed media and residential district north east of DIP with short runs to schools in Motor City and Sports City and a middling arrival of around 4.30pm to 5pm.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Read the script before you price anything

A marked paper distinguishes unshown working, premature rounding, one weak topic and poor timing, which produce the same grade and cost between two sessions and a term to fix. Pricing before diagnosis is how families buy the longest option for the shortest problem.

  2. 02

    Confirm the board and code

Cambridge 0580 Core or Extended, or Edexcel 4MA1 Foundation or Higher. Four different practice sets, and using the wrong one wastes the whole block while everybody works hard. The school's assessment paperwork states it and the subject teacher confirms it in a line.

  3. 03

Ask for a block length and a completion test

How many sessions, and what will show it is done. A provider who can answer both is proposing something finite you can judge. A provider who cannot is proposing a standing arrangement, which is the most expensive product available here.

  4. 04

Match the rate to the task

Diagnosis and technique work justify a specialist rate because they need somebody who knows the scheme. Routine practice supervision does not, and paying AED 270 an hour for it is the second commonest waste in this market.

  5. 05

Set the review point in advance

Tie it to a real school assessment or mock rather than to a date. If the error has gone from the log, stopping is the right answer and will be said. An unreviewed arrangement is how a sensible hourly rate becomes an unreasonable annual total.

Every AED band named with the provider who published it, dated October 2026, cheapest first. Three of six researched competitors publish no price at all and two quote in US dollars, which is not a currency a Dubai family transacts in.

Blocks, not open arrangements

Each problem carries a typical session count and a test of completion, so the spend is finite and comparable. The commonest way money disappears in this market is an arrangement nobody agreed an ending for.

The waste named honestly

General support with no diagnosis, continuing past the fix, paying specialist rates for routine practice, and the wrong board's papers. None involves a bad tutor, which is exactly why each one persists.

The in-home premium costed for this corridor

AED 180 to 500 including travel against AED 150 to 300 online, plus possible surcharges, a smaller tutor pool and sessions that depend on a vehicle reaching a southern address at peak hour.

The tier decision treated as money as well as academics

A capped entry needs fewer hours and closes a post-16 route whose reopening costs far more than the extension work would have, which matters in a corridor where families change schools.

Five verifiable checks, including on us

A published rate, a stated permit position, a trial with disclosed conditions, a tutor who can name board and code, and no claimed approval from any regulator or examination board.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Investments Park: your questions answered

What does IGCSE maths tutoring actually cost in Dubai right now?+

The market, attributed and dated October 2026: budget online provision from AED 33 to 65 per hour, a qualified subject tutor online roughly AED 150 to 300, specialists AED 200 to 450 and above with TutorChase at AED 270, and in-home visits AED 180 to 500 including travel per Bestimate's 2026 table. Advertised monthly packages include AED 799 for eight online sessions. Ours is set after the free trial, because the honest price depends on how many sessions the diagnosis actually requires.

Why does our tutoring spend never seem to change the grade?+

Usually because nothing was aimed. A weekly session pointed at the subject rather than at a component spends most of its time on material the student already knows, since that is what fills a syllabus. The other three causes are continuing after the problem was solved, paying a specialist rate for routine practice, and practising from the wrong board's past papers. None involves a bad tutor, which is exactly why all four are so common.

Can we pay for in-home maths lessons at our DIP address instead?+

Not through us. We teach IGCSE mathematics one-to-one into DIP homes over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with working shared and annotated on screen, and we send no tutors to UAE addresses; in-person home visits are an India-only service for us. In this corridor in-home delivery also carries the steepest travel premium in the market, since a tutor from a central district is making a long journey at the busiest hour of the day.

How many sessions should a specific problem take?+

Most are shorter than families expect. Method marks lost to unshown working is about four sessions; premature rounding two; angular mode in trigonometry one or two; histograms three; conditional probability three; timing four. A genuine algebraic fluency gap is the exception and needs a term of short regular work, because fluency is built by repetition rather than fixed by explanation. Ask any provider for the estimate and for what will show the block is finished.

What is a completion test and why does it matter?+

It is an observable sign that the work is done, as opposed to a date on which the block happens to end. Examples: the student predicts their own mark before it is given, the error stops appearing in the log, the back page of a timed paper is no longer blank, or speed measurably improves on timed sets. A block with an end date drifts into a standing arrangement; a block with a test ends, and you can say with confidence that the money achieved something.

Is a budget tutor at AED 50 an hour ever the right choice?+

Yes, for the right task. Practice supervision, company while working through question sets and keeping a student on task are all genuinely useful and do not require someone who knows the mark scheme. What a budget rate will not reliably buy is diagnosis: reading two marked papers and identifying that the loss is method marks rather than content. Match the rate to the task and you will spend less overall than a family who buys one rate for everything.

How do I check which board my child sits?+

The code is printed on the school's assessment paperwork, and the subject teacher will confirm it in one line. Check per subject rather than per school, because departments choose independently and a student can sit Cambridge 0580 Mathematics alongside an Edexcel science in the same year. Then state the code to the tutor in writing and ask which series their practice papers come from. This single email prevents the most complete form of waste available in this market.

Why is the in-home premium worse in this part of Dubai?+

Three reasons beyond the headline rate. The travel component is doing more work, since DIP sits in the southern corridor off two motorways and a tutor from a central district is driving a long way at peak hour, with surcharges possible outside a stated radius. The pool shrinks to those willing to make that drive, so you pay more for less choice. And sessions that depend on traffic start late or get cancelled, which is sunk cost plus a gap in the plan.

Should we fix the tier entry or the grade?+

Settle the tier first, because it caps what any amount of tutoring can produce. Take a timed paper from the harder tier now, with no notes, and mark it honestly: mid-range or above and the decision is made. Remember the financial asymmetry too. The capped tier needs fewer hours for a secure grade, but it removes the A Level Mathematics and Higher Level Analysis routes, and reopening those later costs far more than the extension work would have.

Is it cheaper to use a tuition centre?+

Per hour, often yes. Per outcome, it depends entirely on what is wrong. A group class teaching a fixed syllabus cannot stop for your child's specific error, which is usually the whole problem, and from DIP you should add two car journeys per session as a real cost in time whether or not it appears on an invoice. If a marked script points at histograms and unshown working, three one-to-one sessions will get further than a term of class work.

What do we do if we can only afford a few sessions?+

Spend them well rather than spreading them. Use one on diagnosis, from the marked script, then put the remainder into the single highest-yield failure, which for most students is method marks lost to unshown working. That is marks on work your child already gets right, which is the cheapest possible source of improvement. Avoid dividing a small budget across three subjects, because three shallow plans produce less than one completed block.

Do you charge more closer to the exams?+

We do not raise rates as a series approaches, and it is a fair question to ask any provider, because peak-season pricing is a real practice in this market and it arrives at the point when switching is hardest. What does change near a series is availability: early-evening slots are genuinely contested because much of Dubai's Year 11 cohort wants the same hour, which is an argument for agreeing the pattern before mock results rather than after.

Can one tutor handle Mathematics and Additional Mathematics?+

Usually yes, and it is more economical, because 0606 Additional Mathematics extends the algebra and functions work in 0580 Extended and the same tutor can hold both. The thing to check is that they have taught 0606 specifically, since it introduces calculus and formal function work a general IGCSE tutor may not have covered. A student fluent in Extended who struggles in 0606 generally has a speed gap, which responds to short regular practice.

What is the single cheapest thing we can do this week?+

Two emails and twenty minutes, all free. Email each relevant subject teacher to confirm the board, code and tier. Then sit with the last marked paper, ignore the grade, and look for which pattern appears: correct answers with low marks, long answers with one mark, losses concentrated in one region, or a rushed final page. Those point to blocks of four, three to four, three to five and four sessions respectively, which means you will know roughly what you need before anyone quotes you.

Name the problem, then price it

IGCSE mathematics support becomes a straightforward purchase once the problem has a name and the block has a length. Most of the failures that produce a disappointing grade cost between two and four sessions to fix, and the expensive one, a genuine fluency gap, is worth knowing about honestly rather than discovering after a wasted term. Confirm the board and code, read the marked script, then ask any provider for the session count and the completion test. Send us those things and take the free trial lesson. Lessons run live online into your DIP home on Gulf Standard Time.
