IGCSE Home Tutor in Dubai Investments Park

Parents searching for an IGCSE home tutor in Dubai Investments Park nearly always want the same reassurance: that the person teaching their child knows the actual syllabus, not just the subject. This page shows how to test that in one phone call, what to send with an enquiry, and where coverage genuinely runs out. Lessons are delivered live online, one to one, on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Dubai Investments Park

Knowing IGCSE is not the same as knowing your child's IGCSE

Dubai Investments Park sits in the southern corridor, off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road, split between DIP 1 and DIP 2 and mixing industrial and commercial plots with residential enclaves including Green Community and Ritaj. It has its own Metro station on the line towards Expo City, a British-curriculum school and two IB schools inside the district, and a wider cluster of schools in Jebel Ali, Al Furjan and Dubai South that its children travel to.

When a parent here searches for an IGCSE home tutor, the anxiety underneath is almost never about distance. It is about competence: will this person actually know the syllabus my child is sitting? That is a fair worry, and in the IGCSE market it has a precise answer, because IGCSE is not one qualification. Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel set different papers, with different codes, different tier vocabulary and different mark allocation conventions, and a tutor who has taught one may not know the other.

That is where most disappointment in this market comes from. Not from tutors who cannot teach, but from tutors working diligently from the wrong board's past papers. The student recognises most of the content, the sessions feel productive, and nobody discovers the mismatch until a mock paper looks unfamiliar. The fix costs nothing: confirm the code before the first session.

The second thing worth knowing out here is that general tutoring supply is reasonable and specific supply is not. A tutor who covers lower-secondary mathematics and science is relatively easy to find in any district. A tutor who has taught Edexcel 4PH1 Physics to Year 11 for several cohorts, and can read a marked paper and name the component losing marks, is a narrower proposition, and in a southern district with low residential density relative to its footprint, finding one locally and free at five o'clock is harder again.

The southern corridor adds one more wrinkle. Several schools around Dubai South and Expo City are recent, and families here move between schools more often than in older districts, which means a Year 10 decision such as a tier entry can turn out to constrain a post-16 choice at a different school entirely. That makes the boring administrative questions unusually worth asking out here.

So this page is practical rather than reassuring. It sets out the three questions that test a tutor's board knowledge, what to send with an enquiry so a useful answer comes back, which subjects we can and cannot reliably cover, the tier trap that catches families in newer schools, and what the market charges with every figure attributed. One premise first: IB Gram delivers one-to-one IGCSE tuition into DIP homes as live online video sessions on Gulf Standard Time, and sends no tutors to UAE addresses, because in-person home visits are a service we run only in India.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An IGCSE student in the southern corridor sits one board, or a mixture, and arrives from one of several routes. Each is described below by what it changes for a family choosing support.

CAIEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

Four-digit codes identify every subject and determine the paper structure. Many subjects are tiered Core and Extended, with the Core tier capped below the top grades and papers set per tier, so practice has to match the entered tier exactly rather than approximately.

Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, because it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong one. The timetable that counts for a DIP child is the one the school's exams officer holds, not one found online.

EDEXCELAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Different codes and structure: 4MA1 Mathematics tiered Foundation and Higher, 4PH1 Physics, 4CH1 Chemistry, 4BI1 Biology. Assessment is wholly written in most subjects with practical skills examined on paper, and some subjects are available modularly so units can be sat across series.

Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series and revises them, so plans belong against the live official document. Checkable reference points: June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026; November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026.

MIXEDAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Mixed-board timetables

Many UAE schools enter candidates with Cambridge for some subjects and Edexcel for others, because departments choose independently. A student can therefore sit 0580 Mathematics and 4CH1 Chemistry in the same year, with two sets of paper conventions and two timetables to manage.

This is the most common reason a DIP family ends up with a tutor using the wrong practice set. Check the code per subject on the school's assessment paperwork rather than assuming one board applies across the school, and tell any prospective tutor which codes they will be working from.

POST-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

What IGCSE leads into locally

The southern corridor mixes British-curriculum schools offering A Level with IB schools offering the Diploma, and some schools offer both. Year 10 tier decisions constrain that choice: a capped mathematics or science entry removes a prerequisite regardless of the grade achieved within the cap.

Because families here frequently move between schools in a growing corridor, post-16 provision can change between the tier decision and the year it matters. That is an argument for keeping the fuller tier open where the student can genuinely cope with it, and for asking the question explicitly.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IGCSE subjects DIP families ask about, with both boards' codes where they exist and the component where marks are actually lost.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended · Edexcel 4MA1 Foundation and Higher

Similar ground, different papers and tier language. Most lost marks are procedural: unshown working forfeits method marks, and premature rounding breaks a multi-step answer that was otherwise correct throughout.

Physics

Cambridge 0625 · Edexcel 4PH1

Electricity and waves cost the most at the higher tiers. Practical skills are examined on paper in both boards, so the student must describe a method precisely enough for a stranger to repeat it, which is a trainable writing skill.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620 · Edexcel 4CH1

Moles, stoichiometry and organic chemistry account for most dropped marks. Naming a correct product without the balanced equation or the units scores nothing in most schemes, however well the chemistry was understood.

Biology

Cambridge 0610 · Edexcel 4BI1

Revised as a memory subject and marked on command terms. Describe, explain and suggest demand different response shapes, and a correct fact in the wrong shape earns no marks, which is a short fix once named.

Combined and Coordinated Sciences

Cambridge 0653 and 0654

One or two awards covering all three sciences for students not taking separates. Breadth is wide and depth shallower, so revision needs a written rotation; the predictable gap lands on whichever science was taught first.

English

Cambridge 0500 First Language · 0510 Second Language

Reading questions reward precise selection and close inference rather than retelling. Writing is marked on structure and control as much as content, and summarising the passage instead of analysing it is the dominant error.

Economics and Business Studies

Cambridge 0455 and 0450

Diagram accuracy and application to the stimulus material decide the grade. Evaluation must reach a judgement, and a generic answer that never engages the case study loses the application marks outright.

ICT and Computer Science

Cambridge 0417 and 0478

ICT practical components carry strict output requirements where presentation errors cost marks unrelated to understanding. Computer Science rewards pseudocode in the board's own conventions rather than in a language the student happens to know.

Additional Mathematics

Cambridge 0606

A bridge to A Level or Higher Level IB taken alongside 0580 by stronger cohorts, introducing calculus and formal function work. Students fluent in 0580 Extended who struggle here usually have a speed gap rather than a conceptual one.

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies

Mandatory in Dubai private schools

Required alongside the licensed curriculum, with separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies. They sit on top of a full IGCSE load, which is a real cause of Year 11 timetable pressure.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three patterns, matched to what the marked work shows rather than to a budget tier. All are live one-to-one video sessions, and none involves a tutor travelling to a UAE address.

Board-matched weekly, single subject

One session a week in one subject, with the correct code confirmed before the first session and every practice paper drawn from it. Suited to a subject that is drifting rather than failing, and the cheapest version of the whole thing because prevention needs fewer hours than repair.

  • Code confirmed in writing before teaching starts
  • Fixed weekly slot set around the southern-corridor school run
  • Short note after each session on ground covered
  • Reviewed at the school's next assessment point

Mixed-board household plan

For families whose child sits Cambridge in some subjects and Edexcel in others, or who have children on different boards or systems. Each subject is matched separately, with sessions sequenced so one evening is not overloaded and a single point of contact for the household.

  • Each subject matched to its own board specialist
  • Sessions sequenced across the week rather than stacked
  • One combined family calendar drawn once
  • Siblings can share a slot pattern without sharing a tutor

Pre-series block

Two sessions a week across a defined block before the June or November series, built from timed past papers of the correct board and tier, marked against the published scheme. Used when the content is broadly known and the marks are not arriving.

  • Component identified from marked scripts before any teaching
  • Weekly timed paper with the mark predicted before it is given
  • Error log by topic and by command term
  • Ends at a stated review point rather than at term end

IB and IGCSE tutors available to students in Dubai Investments Park

DIP families are matched with tutors who state the board and code before they describe their experience. Knowing IGCSE is not a qualification; having taught Cambridge 0620 or Edexcel 4CH1 to several cohorts, and being able to name the paper a student is losing marks on, is.

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai Investments Park

01

Three questions that test whether a tutor knows your syllabus

  • Ask for the board and code, and expect a number of cohorts
  • Ask about tier structure and which papers each tier sits
  • Ask for a component diagnosis from marked papers before session one
  • Hesitation on question two is itself an answer

This is the most useful thing on the page, and it costs one phone call. The anxiety behind an IGCSE home tutor search in Dubai Investments Park is about competence, and competence in this market is testable rather than a matter of trust.

Question one: which board and code have you taught this subject at, and for how many cohorts? A specialist answers immediately with a code, such as 0620 or 4CH1, and a number. A generalist answers with the subject name and an adjective. Neither answer is dishonest; they describe different services, and only one of them is what a Year 11 student needs.

Question two: what is the tier structure in this subject, and which papers does my child's tier sit? Cambridge sets Core and Extended in many subjects; Edexcel Mathematics is Foundation and Higher. A tutor who blurs these terms, or who cannot say which papers correspond to each tier, is going to build the wrong practice set, and the student will not be able to tell.

Question three, and the decisive one: if I send you two marked papers, can you tell me which component is losing marks before the first session? A specialist says yes and then does it, naming something specific such as method marks forfeited by unshown working, or frequency density omitted in histogram questions. A general tutor offers to assess the student in the first session, which is a reasonable offer and a different one. Ask all three, in that order, of every provider including us.

02

What to send with an enquiry so the answer is useful

Most tutoring enquiries contain a subject and a year group, and that is not enough information to answer usefully. A provider receiving it can only respond with generalities, which is why so many first conversations in this market feel like sales calls: there was nothing specific to discuss.

Send six things instead and the reply changes character entirely. The board and code for each subject of concern. The tier the student is entered for. The school, so the plan can follow its calendar. The last two marked papers, photographed. The next deadline the school has set, such as a mock window. And the slot pattern your household can actually sustain, which in this corridor is usually a 5pm to 6pm weekday plus a weekend morning.

The marked papers do most of the work. A grade reports that something is wrong; a marked script shows where. With two scripts a specialist can usually distinguish four problems that produce identical grades: weak content, method marks lost to unshown working, a single catastrophic topic, and running out of time. Three of those are short fixes and one is a term, and nobody can tell which from a report card.

The table below sets out what each item changes, so it is clear why the effort is worth it. It also means you can compare providers on the quality of their reply rather than on the warmth of it, which is a far better test.

03

Why the board matters more than the district

Across the competitor pages researched for this market, exactly one syllabus code appeared in an entire seven-page cluster. That silence is why the board mismatch is so common: nobody tells families the distinction exists, and the content overlap between Cambridge and Edexcel is large enough that the error is invisible from inside a session.

What differs is the examination rather than the chemistry or the mathematics. Paper structure, the number and length of papers, mark allocation conventions, how heavily particular topics are weighted and how practical skills are framed all vary between the boards. Tier vocabulary differs too, which creates a specific and avoidable hazard: a parent translating between Core, Extended, Foundation and Higher in a phone call can agree to the wrong entry without anyone noticing.

Departments choose independently, which is the part families most often miss. A student at a school in DIP or Jebel Ali can sit Cambridge 0580 Mathematics and Edexcel 4CH1 Chemistry in the same year. So the check is per subject, not per school, and it takes one email to the subject teacher.

The practical consequence for a household in this corridor is simple. Your postcode decides what time a session can start. The board decides whether the session is useful at all. Of those two variables only one is worth spending time on, and it is not the postcode.

There is a related check worth making on the practice material itself. Ask to see, or be told, which series the papers in a session came from and which tier they were set for. A tutor who can answer that immediately is working from an organised set; one who cannot is improvising, and improvised practice in Year 11 is how a term disappears without any identifiable mistake having been made.

Coverage, disclosed before you spend anything

No competitor page in the research behind these pages states a coverage limit. Every service has one, so the omission is simply a decision not to mention it, and it is a large part of why families distrust the category. Here is ours.

Core IGCSE subjects at both boards are reliably covered, and a match can usually be arranged within a few days. Constraints appear in two places. The first is timing: early-evening slots in the weeks before a series are genuinely contested, because much of Dubai's Year 11 cohort wants the same hour. The second is narrow subjects, where a particular board and code combination may not be covered immediately, and where the honest answer is sometimes a date rather than a tutor.

When a request cannot be met you will be told, offered the nearest workable alternative, and given a realistic view of when the slot or the specialism opens. A generalist will not be presented as the board specialist you asked for. That is the standard failure in this market and the reason many families conclude, reasonably, that tutoring does not work for them.

One further disclosure. Where no UAE-based specialist is available for a subject and board, the match may be a teacher working from outside the UAE on Gulf Standard Time. That is stated rather than hidden, which is the difference between a disclosed delivery model and a non-UAE phone number in a footer. The test is unchanged: has this person taught this board and code, and can they name the failing component from a script?

The tier trap, and why it bites harder in a growing corridor

  • A capped tier removes a prerequisite whatever grade is achieved inside it
  • Post-16 provision varies across this corridor, and families move schools
  • Decide with a timed harder-tier paper, not with a conversation about comfort
  • Ask the subject teacher for the confirmation deadline and work back from it

The tier decision caps or opens the grade available, and it is confirmed by the school to a school deadline. In this corridor it carries an extra complication, because families move between schools more often here than in older districts, and post-16 provision varies between the established schools in Jebel Ali and the newer ones towards Dubai South and Expo City.

The consequence is specific. A capped mathematics or science entry removes a prerequisite regardless of the grade achieved within the cap: a Core or Foundation mathematics candidate is not positioned for A Level Mathematics or Higher Level Analysis and Approaches. If a family then moves to a school with a different post-16 offer, the Year 10 decision constrains a choice nobody was thinking about when it was made.

The honest test is a timed paper from the harder tier, taken now, with no notes, marked properly. Mid-range or above and the conversation is over. Near the bottom of the range and there is a genuine decision about whether a block of work closes the gap in the time available. What should not decide it is which tier feels more comfortable in class, because comfort and capability diverge sharply under examination timing.

Ask the subject teacher when the tier must be confirmed and work backwards from that date rather than from the examination. And ask explicitly what the entry means for post-16 options, because it is frequently presented as an administrative form rather than as the pathway decision it actually is.

06

What you can verify before paying anything

  • A published rate, in a currency you actually pay in
  • A stated position on the MoHRE private tuition work permit
  • A free trial with any condition disclosed on the same page
  • A tutor who can name the board and syllabus code
  • No claimed approval from any regulator or examination board

Price comparisons in this market are hard because most providers do not publish one. Three of six researched competitor pages publish no price at all, two quote in US dollars, and one publishes a star rating it awarded itself. So the useful approach is to compare on what can be verified, and to judge any quote against the market.

The market, attributed and dated October 2026. Budget online provision starts at Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52 per hour and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65. A qualified subject tutor online runs roughly AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. Specialists run AED 200 to 450 and above, TutorChase at AED 270, BartyED at AED 650. In-home visits run AED 180 to 500 including travel per Bestimate's 2026 Dubai cost table. Monthly packages advertised include AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. None of these is an IB Gram price list; ours is set after the free trial.

The verifiable items are these. Whether a rate is published at all, and in a currency you transact in. Whether the provider states a position on the MoHRE private tuition work permit that individuals offering private lessons need under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, which is granted free of charge for two years. Whether a free trial exists and what condition is attached. Whether the tutor can name the board and code. And whether any approval is claimed from KHDA, ADEK, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson, which an independent tutoring platform does not hold and we do not hold either.

For wider context, KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in Dubai private school fees for the 2026-27 academic year under the emirate's second economic incentives package. Tutoring is the variable line in an education budget, which is the argument for a defined block with a review date.

07

Five subjects, not six: the equivalency rule

  • Five GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3
  • Plus one A Level at grade E, or two AS Levels at the same grade
  • Arabic and Islamic education are excluded from the count of five
  • Combined Science counts as one subject; separate sciences count as three
  • Verify on moe.gov.ae; equivalency is not a service we provide

Ministry of Education equivalency decides what a UAE university or employer will accept, and it is absent from most pages in this market. Where it does appear it is sometimes wrong, which matters more than an omission because a family can act on a wrong number by making a child sit a subject they did not need.

The published British-track rule requires five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus either one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than grade E or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects, which surprises families whose children sit them anyway as KHDA mandatory subjects.

One competitor page currently ranking in this market states that six IGCSE subjects are required. That is wrong on the published rule. Note too how the science route interacts with the count: a Combined Science award is one subject, while separate sciences are three, which can matter for a student whose option choices are otherwise thin.

The American track runs on test scores instead: at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying, with English proficiency satisfied by a score of 5 in IELTS academic, 61 in TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section. For the IB no points threshold appears in the source we read, so none is published here. Two cautions as always: IB Gram does not perform, submit or expedite equivalency and tutoring is not required for it, and requirements change, so verify on moe.gov.ae or with the emirate's attestation authority.

Starting from Dubai Investments Park

  • Send board and code, tier, school, two marked papers, the next deadline and a workable slot
  • Free trial lesson used as a diagnosis, before any payment
  • An honest coverage answer with a date where one applies
  • No grade promises, no claimed approvals, no invented statistics

Send the six items from the enquiry table: board and code per subject, tier, school, two marked papers, the next school deadline and the slot pattern you can sustain. The free trial lesson comes before any payment and exists to produce a diagnosis rather than a sales conversation.

Expect an honest coverage answer in the same reply. In this corridor that matters more than the rate, because a plan built around a specialism that is not actually available at your hour is worse than no plan. If the answer is a date rather than a tutor, you will get the date.

What will not be claimed. No grade promise, because nobody can make one honestly. No suggestion that tutoring is required for equivalency, admission or school progression, which would be a false claim about a regulatory process. No regulator or board approval: IB Gram holds no permit, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson, and operates no UAE office, centre or branch. No satisfaction statistics, because a figure without its sample, date and method is decoration.

On data, one practical note. Enquiry forms collect information about a child, so we ask only for what the plan needs, state why, and keep a privacy link on every page. We do not ask for a child's photograph, and you can ask for the enquiry record to be deleted. Finally, we do not publish or supply Cambridge or Pearson past papers, mark schemes or syllabus documents as downloads, because that material is the boards' copyright; we cite it and link to it instead.

Where we tutor

Dubai Investments Park and the southern corridor

These are the communities DIP families live among. Each note gives the practical detail that affects an IGCSE plan rather than a general description.

Dubai Investments Park 1 and 2

Industrial and commercial plots with residential enclaves inside a large footprint. Low residential density relative to area is the key fact about local tutor supply, and the reason a proximity search here is misleading.

Green Community

An established low-rise enclave within DIP. School runs head to the district's own schools, to Jebel Ali or further, so a weekday session realistically starts between 5pm and 5.30pm.

Al Furjan

Villas and townhouses to the north with a Metro station and a British-curriculum school inside the community. Families frequently compare a DIP school with an Al Furjan one, and the commute settles it.

Discovery Gardens

Dense apartment living with children bussed to Jebel Ali, DIP and Al Barsha. Long runs in both directions push the practical weekday start towards 6pm, and revision towards the weekend.

Jebel Ali

The port and industrial district west of DIP, with long-established British-curriculum schools serving the whole southern corridor and therefore setting much of its afternoon rhythm.

Dubai South and Emaar South

The newest part of the corridor, around Expo City and Al Maktoum International. Schools here are recent and often in early inspection cycles, so senior-subject supplementation is more common.

Dubai Production City

A mixed media and residential district north east of DIP, with apartment communities and short runs to schools in Motor City and Sports City.

The Sustainable City

A planned community towards Al Qudra with an IB school inside it, one of the few places in this corridor where the school is genuinely walkable and early sessions are easy to schedule.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai Investments Park

Dubai Investments Park and Green Community

A British-curriculum school and two IB schools sit inside the district, with a further school in DIP running its own system. Year 11 cohorts here are moderate, so board choices can differ between departments and should be checked per subject.

  • Dove Green Private School
  • Greenfield International School
  • Nibras International School
  • The International School of Choueifat, Dubai Investments Park

Jebel Ali, Al Furjan and Dubai South

The wider cluster DIP children travel to, mixing established British schools with newer provision towards Expo City. Mock windows and entry deadlines differ across these schools by several weeks.

  • The Winchester School Jebel Ali
  • The Arbor School
  • Jebel Ali School
  • GEMS Founders School Dubai South
  • South View School
  • Fairgreen International School

Schools are named only as context for the Dubai Investments Park education market. IB Gram has no affiliation, partnership or endorsement relationship with any of them, and none is a client.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Confirm the board and code per subject

Departments choose independently, so a single student can sit Cambridge 0580 and Edexcel 4CH1 in the same year. The code is on the school's assessment paperwork and the subject teacher confirms it in one line. Everything else depends on this being right.

  2. 02

    Ask the three competence questions

Board and cohorts taught; tier structure and which papers each tier sits; and whether a component can be named from two marked papers before session one. Ask them of every provider you speak to, in that order, including this one.

  3. 03

    Send the six-item enquiry

Board and code, tier, school, two marked papers, the next school deadline and a slot pattern you can actually sustain. A reply to that enquiry can be judged on substance, which is a far better test than how warm the first call feels.

  4. 04

Get the coverage answer before the plan

In this corridor the binding constraint is often availability rather than price. You should know before paying whether the specialism is reliable in your slot, constrained, or a date rather than a tutor.

  5. 05

    Review against the next assessment

Every block ends at a stated point and is reviewed against a real school assessment or mock. If the component is fixed, stopping is the recommendation, which is how a variable budget line stays variable.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Competence made testable

Three questions that separate a board specialist from a general tutor, published so they can be asked of anyone, including us. Across the researched competitor pages one syllabus code appeared in an entire seven-page cluster.

An enquiry template that produces real answers

Six items that change the reply from generalities to a diagnosis. The marked papers alone distinguish four problems that produce identical grades, three of which are short fixes and one of which is a term.

Coverage stated before payment

Which board and code combinations are reliable, where peak-season timing bites, and what happens when the honest answer is a date rather than a tutor. No page in this research set discloses a coverage limit.

Delivery and tutor location disclosed

Lessons are live online into DIP homes, no tutor is sent to a UAE address, and where a specialist works from outside the UAE that is stated rather than concealed behind a contact number.

The tier decision framed as a pathway decision

A capped entry removes a prerequisite whatever grade is achieved inside it, and in a corridor where families change schools that constraint can bind in a way nobody anticipated when the form was signed.

The equivalency figure stated correctly

Five GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education, with Combined Science counting as one. A ranking competitor publishes six, which changes what a family makes a child sit.

Student and parent reviews

What students and parents say about working with IB Gram

Practical feedback on tutor fit, revision structure and communication from IB and IGCSE families we have taught.

“Every session has been a positive learning experience. The students are progressing well, becoming more confident, and showing a genuine interest in learning.”

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai Investments Park: your questions answered

How can I be sure a tutor really knows my child's IGCSE syllabus?+

Test it rather than trust it. Ask which board and code they have taught and for how many cohorts, expecting an answer like 0620 for four cohorts rather than a subject name and an adjective. Ask about the tier structure and which papers each tier sits. Then ask whether they can name the component losing marks from two marked papers before the first session. A specialist answers all three without hesitation, and hesitation on the second question tells you what you need to know.

Does a tutor come to our house in Dubai Investments Park?+

Not through IB Gram. We teach IGCSE one-to-one into DIP homes over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and we send no tutors to any UAE address; in-person home visits are a service we run only in India. Other Dubai providers do visit homes, at roughly AED 180 to 500 per hour with travel included per Bestimate's 2026 rate table, although arranging one this far south at a peak hour is harder in practice than the published rates suggest.

What should I include when I contact a tutoring provider?+

Six things, and the reply will change character completely. The board and code for each subject of concern, the tier your child is entered for, the school so the plan follows its calendar, photographs of the last two marked papers, the next deadline the school has set, and the slot pattern your household can genuinely sustain. The marked papers matter most: they distinguish weak content, lost method marks, one catastrophic topic and poor timing, which produce identical grades and need different plans.

Is local tutor supply really thinner out here?+

For specific board and code combinations at a specific early-evening hour, yes, and we would rather say it than imply otherwise. Dubai Investments Park is largely industrial and commercial land with residential enclaves, so resident numbers are low relative to the district's size, and it sits far enough south that in-home tutors ration their evening slots by drive time. Online delivery removes the constraint entirely, which is the practical case for it here rather than a general preference.

Our school uses Cambridge for some subjects and Edexcel for others. Is that normal?+

Entirely normal, and the single most common reason a tutor ends up with the wrong practice set. Departments choose independently, so a student can sit Cambridge 0580 Mathematics alongside Edexcel 4CH1 Chemistry in the same year, with two sets of paper conventions and two timetables. Check the code per subject rather than per school, and tell any prospective tutor which codes they will be working from, in writing, before the first session is booked.

What if you cannot cover the subject and board we need?+

You get told, with the nearest workable alternative and a realistic date for when the specialism or the slot opens. Core subjects at both boards are reliably covered within a few days; narrower combinations and peak early-evening hours before a series are where constraints appear. What will not happen is a general tutor being presented as the board specialist you asked for, which is the standard failure in this market and the reason many families give up on tutoring.

Could the tutor be outside the UAE?+

Possibly, and if so it is stated rather than hidden. Where no UAE-based specialist is available for a board and code combination, the match may be a teacher working from outside the country on Gulf Standard Time. Several providers conceal this behind a non-UAE phone number, which is a trust failure rather than a delivery one. The question that matters stays the same: has this person taught this board and code, and can they diagnose a component from a marked paper?

Does the tier entry really affect what our child can do at 16?+

Yes, and in this corridor it can bind in an unexpected way. A capped mathematics or science entry removes a prerequisite regardless of the grade achieved inside it, so a Core or Foundation mathematics candidate is not positioned for A Level Mathematics or Higher Level Analysis and Approaches. Families here move schools more often than in older districts, and post-16 provision varies between established Jebel Ali schools and newer ones near Dubai South, so the constraint can surface later.

How do we decide between Core and Extended honestly?+

With a timed paper from the harder tier, taken now, with no notes, and marked properly. Mid-range or above and the decision is made. Near the bottom of the range and there is a genuine question about whether a block of work closes the gap in the weeks available. What should not decide it is which tier feels more comfortable in class, because comfort and capability separate sharply under examination timing. The confirmation deadline belongs to the school.

Why will nobody in this market publish a price?+

We cannot speak for others, but the research behind these pages found three of six competitor pages publishing no price at all and two quoting in US dollars, which is not a currency Dubai families transact in. Our approach is to publish the market instead, attributed and dated October 2026, so any quote can be judged: budget online AED 33 to 65, qualified online subject tutors AED 150 to 300, specialists AED 200 to 450 or more, in-home visits AED 180 to 500 including travel.

Should I ask whether a tutor holds a permit?+

Yes, and the question is reasonable rather than intrusive. Individuals offering private tuition in the UAE need the MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, which is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible categories include school teachers, government and private sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Those operating without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no fine schedule is published.

Is a tuition centre a better option for a family this far south?+

It depends on what is wrong and how far the centre is. A group class teaching a fixed syllabus is reasonable value for broad coverage and poor value for repairing one component, because it cannot stop for your child's specific error. From DIP, add two car journeys per session on top, which is a real cost in time whether or not it appears on an invoice. If the marked papers point at one topic or one component, one-to-one gets there in fewer hours.

Three subjects are weak. Should we book help for all of them now?+

Two comfortably, three only with care and a written plan. Each subject needs a session plus independent practice between sessions, and a Year 11 timetable already carries the mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies alongside everything else. A household trying to support four subjects usually ends up with four shallow plans. Start with the subject where the marked paper shows the clearest recoverable component, verify the fix on a timed paper, then move to the next.

When is it too late to start before a series?+

Eight weeks is the planning unit that works, with six to twelve focused sessions inside it, and the first week should be diagnosis rather than teaching. Four weeks can still fix one component if the diagnosis is precise. Two weeks mostly produces a tired student. If the remaining time is short, the honest plan targets the component carrying the most marks rather than attempting coverage, and the November series exists as a resit route for both Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel.

Test the board knowledge, then send the papers

The worry behind an IGCSE home tutor search in Dubai Investments Park is competence, and competence is testable. Ask any provider which board and code they have taught, how the tiers map to papers, and whether they can name the component losing marks from two marked papers before the first session. Then send those papers, with the code, the tier, the school and the next deadline. You will get a diagnosis rather than a pitch, and an honest coverage answer with it. Lessons run live online into your DIP home on Gulf Standard Time.
