IGCSE Maths Tutor in Al Sufouh

Most families looking for an IGCSE maths tutor in Al Sufouh are really deciding a monthly figure, not an hourly one. This page starts there: what a month of maths support costs in Dubai at each tier of the market, what the tier your child is entered for does to that number, and what a resit adds if the decision is left too late. Lessons for Al Sufouh families run live online, one-to-one, in Gulf Standard Time.

  • Monthly market costs published with the source and reading date
  • Syllabus code and tier confirmed before the first paid session
  • Marked timed papers against the published mark scheme, not self-marking

IB & IGCSE in Al Sufouh

Start from the monthly number, not the hourly rate

Hourly rates make tutoring look cheap and monthly totals make it real. A parent in Al Sufouh quoted AED 250 an hour hears a number that feels manageable; the same parent six months later is spending AED 2,000 a month across two subjects and wondering where the decision happened. So this page runs the other way round. Bestimate's Dubai estimates for a weekly one-hour session put the budget end at AED 240 to AED 600 a month, the mid-market at AED 600 to AED 1,200, and specialist exam-year support at AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 and above. Published packages in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home visits. Those are market figures read in October 2026, attributed to who published them, not an IB Gram price list.

Converted back to an hour, the same market splits into bands. Budget online tutoring advertises from AED 33 to AED 52 at Tutopiya and from AED 45 to AED 65 at EdFlik, usually delivered by current university students. A qualified subject tutor online is quoted from AED 150 by Unitors for IGCSE. Specialists sit at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270. In-home visits including travel are quoted at AED 180 to AED 350 by Bestimate, and independently advertised home tutors run AED 200 to AED 500. Premium named tutors reach AED 650 at BartyED.

What makes maths different from the other subjects in this catchment is that the monthly figure is partly decided by something administrative. Your child is entered for a specific syllabus at a specific tier, and that entry sets a grade ceiling and a past-paper diet. Cambridge 0580 splits into Core and Extended, and Core caps at grade C, or 5 on the numeric variant. Pearson 4MA1 splits into Foundation and Higher, with Foundation topping out at grade 5. A student sitting Core who is capable of Extended is paying for tuition against a ceiling. A student pushed onto Extended who is not ready is paying for content they will not reach.

There are four maths qualifications in common use in Al Sufouh schools and the surrounding Al Barsha and Greens clusters, and they are not interchangeable. Cambridge 0580 Mathematics is the most entered. Cambridge 0607 International Mathematics assumes a graphic display calculator throughout and includes an investigation paper. Cambridge 0606 Additional Mathematics sits alongside 0580 for strong mathematicians heading towards A Level. Pearson Edexcel 4MA1 Specification A runs two equally weighted papers of a hundred marks each, two hours apiece, with a calculator permitted. A tutor matched to the wrong one of those spends your first month learning the difference.

IB Gram's delivery model is stated the same way on every UAE page. Tuition here is one-to-one online tuition over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visiting is offered only in India. For a monthly budget that matters in a concrete way: the travel component embedded in the in-home band, somewhere between AED 50 and AED 150 an hour on published figures, never appears on the bill, and the money buys teaching hours instead of kilometres.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Maths support in this catchment is bought at three points, and the price per mark differs sharply between them. The earlier the point, the cheaper the outcome, which is the one piece of financial advice this page would give if it could only give one.

Years 7-9Ages 11-14 · Years 7-9

Lower Secondary maths, before the tier decision

The cheapest maths tutoring a family will ever buy, because it removes gaps rather than patching them against a deadline. The work here is algebraic fluency, proportional reasoning, negative and fractional indices, and confidence with formula rearrangement. Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests are available in March, May and October and give a school a cohort benchmark rather than a certificate, so they are a diagnostic rather than a qualification.

In Al Sufouh this band is routinely skipped because nothing is at stake yet. The arithmetic is unkind: a Year 9 student who cannot rearrange a formula reliably will meet that same weakness in 0580 Paper 4, in 0625 Physics and in 0620 Chemistry at the same time eighteen months later, and will then need three tutors instead of one. Three mid-band subjects is AED 1,800 to AED 3,600 a month.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE mathematics, Years 10 and 11

Two years to cover a full syllabus and to build paper technique. Cambridge 0580 runs Core and Extended tiers with separate papers; Pearson 4MA1 runs Foundation and Higher with two papers of a hundred marks each. Extended and Higher carry the algebraic manipulation, the trigonometry beyond right-angled triangles, and the vectors and transformations work the lower tiers never meet. Calculator rules have been revised by Cambridge, so the current syllabus document should be checked rather than assumed.

Most Al Sufouh families buy here, and most buy in Year 11 rather than Year 10. Buying in September of Year 10 at one session a week is roughly AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month on the mid band and covers a syllabus properly. Buying in February of Year 11 at three sessions a week costs two to three times that monthly figure and can only triage.

Post-16Ages 15-17 · Year 11 into Year 12

Additional Mathematics and the A Level bridge

Cambridge 0606 Additional Mathematics runs two papers of two hours each with a calculator permitted, and covers calculus, binomial expansions, trigonometric identities and vectors in a way 0580 does not. Schools enter strong mathematicians for it alongside 0580 as preparation for A Level Mathematics or IB Analysis and Approaches. It is a genuine step up in abstraction rather than a longer version of the same syllabus.

Dubai College and the British-pathway schools around Al Sufouh use this route for students heading towards A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics. Where a family is paying for 0606 support, it is worth establishing whether the real target is the 0606 grade or the A Level start, because those two aims produce different session plans.

ResitAges 16+ · after a June result

November series resits and private candidacy

A maths grade that falls short in June can be retaken in the November series. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November, with the November 2026 final timetable running from late October to 19 November 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Cambridge runs June and November for UAE candidates; the February and March series is offered to India only. A resit decision is a budget decision taken in August with a January payoff.

Families in this catchment usually make the resit call within a fortnight of August results, which gives roughly eight to ten weeks of preparation. At two sessions a week on the mid band that is about AED 1,200 to AED 2,400 a month. Whether it is worth buying depends on whether a January grade still helps the application it was meant to support.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Maths is one word and several qualifications. The entries below are the specific maths and maths-adjacent syllabuses Al Sufouh families ask about, with the code attached, because the code is what decides which past papers a session uses.

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics 0580

Core and Extended

The most entered maths syllabus in this catchment. Extended carries algebraic fractions, functions, trigonometry in non-right-angled triangles, vectors and transformations. Core caps at grade C, or 5 on the numeric variant. Most lost marks are method rather than knowledge: unsimplified answers, premature rounding, and omitted units in mensuration questions.

Cambridge IGCSE International Mathematics 0607

Core and Extended

A separate syllabus assuming a graphic display calculator throughout, with an investigation paper that has no 0580 equivalent. Students taught from 0580 materials meet unfamiliar graphing question styles and lose marks for describing a sketch rather than reading values off it. A tutor unaware the syllabus exists will teach 0580 at a 0607 candidate for a term.

Cambridge IGCSE Additional Mathematics 0606

Single tier

Two papers of two hours with a calculator permitted, covering calculus, binomial expansion, trigonometric identities, logarithms and vectors. Entered alongside 0580 for students heading to A Level or IB Analysis and Approaches. The difficulty is abstraction rather than volume, and students who rely on memorised procedures stall quickly here.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A, 4MA1

Foundation and Higher

Two papers of a hundred marks each, two hours apiece, calculator permitted, with Foundation capped at grade 5. Question styles and mark-scheme conventions differ from Cambridge, so a tutor who has only taught 0580 will mark against the wrong expectations. Higher-tier algebra and the proof-style questions are where the tier gap shows most.

Pearson Edexcel Further Pure Mathematics, 4PM1

Single tier

The Pearson parallel to Additional Mathematics, taken alongside 4MA1 by students aiming at A Level Mathematics. It carries calculus, series, coordinate geometry and matrices. Families sometimes discover their child is entered for it only when a mock paper appears, which is a sign the entry list is worth asking for explicitly.

Physics (Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1)

Core and Extended · single tier

Requested alongside maths more than any other subject, because the formula rearrangement and graph-gradient work are shared. A student who manipulates equations confidently in maths and cannot convert a gradient into a physical quantity with units has a transfer problem, and fixing it once in a maths session is cheaper than fixing it twice.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1)

Core and Extended · single tier

The moles work, concentration calculations and empirical formula questions sit on exactly the proportional reasoning 0580 builds. Students strong in maths who struggle in chemistry are usually weak on the qualitative material and the ionic equations rather than on calculation, which is a different tutoring job.

Biology (Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1)

Core and Extended · single tier

Content volume rather than conceptual depth, with marks lost to imprecise command-term responses. The statistical and graph-reading elements reward the same care maths does, and the magnification and surface-area-to-volume calculations are straightforward marks for a numerate student who practises them.

Economics and Business Studies (Cambridge 0455 · 0450)

IGCSE

Both are marked against levels rather than points, so evaluation matters more than recall. Numerate students often perform well on the calculation and diagram questions and cap out on the judgement command terms, which is a writing problem presenting as a subject problem.

Arabic and the UAE mandatory subjects

First Language 0508 · Foreign Language 0544

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies run in every Dubai private school alongside the licensed international curriculum. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and combined classes for both groups are prohibited.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, priced per month rather than per hour, because a month is the unit a household actually plans in. All three run online over live video.

One weekly session, September to the series

The format with the lowest cost per mark, because nothing is being repaired under pressure. At the mid-market band this runs roughly AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month, and across a full Year 10 and Year 11 it covers the syllabus properly rather than selecting from it. It is also the only format in which tier readiness can be assessed early enough to change the entry.

  • One syllabus code, one tier, one tutor across the year
  • Topic order matched to the school's own scheme of work
  • Tier readiness reviewed before the centre's entry deadline
  • Travel weeks paused rather than billed

Eight to twelve week pre-series block

Two or three sessions a week built from whole timed papers. At the mid band this is roughly AED 1,200 to AED 2,400 a month, and at specialist rates it reaches AED 2,000 and above. It changes technique and secures the predictable marks. It cannot teach a syllabus that was never covered, and an honest plan names what is being left out.

  • Whole past papers under timed conditions, marked to the scheme
  • An error log that gets shorter week by week
  • A written list of topics deliberately excluded, with reasons
  • Paper-by-paper practice rather than topic-by-topic revision

One diagnostic hour

A single session built around one past paper the student has already sat under timed conditions, producing a written readout: the board, the code, the tier, where the marks are going and whether tutoring is the right purchase at all. It is the cheapest way to avoid buying three months of the wrong help.

  • One full past paper sat before the session
  • Mark-by-mark feedback against the published mark scheme
  • An explicit statement of board, code and tier
  • A recommendation that may be that no tutoring is needed

01

A month of IGCSE maths support in Dubai, priced

The table below converts the market's hourly bands into the monthly figures a household plans against, using one, two and three sessions a week. Every band is attributed and every figure was read in October 2026. None of it is an IB Gram price list; Dubai has no published standard rate for private tuition, so the only honest way to show cost is to show who charges what and when it was read.

Two patterns are worth noticing. The cheapest row and the dearest row differ by roughly a factor of fifteen at the same session count. Budget online tuition from AED 33 to AED 65 an hour is a legitimate product for a Year 9 confidence problem and a poor one for Extended-tier Paper 4 technique, because the person delivering it is often a current university student working from the student's own textbook. The second pattern is that stepping from one session a week to three does not triple a grade's prospects; it triples a bill while leaving the same number of hours for everything else in the student's week.

The practical reading for an Al Sufouh family is that the sensible plan is usually one weekly session from early in Year 10 at the mid band, with a short step up before the series. That shape costs less across two years than a February panic at three sessions a week, and it buys full syllabus coverage rather than triage. Bestimate's own monthly estimates follow the same logic: AED 240 to AED 600 budget, AED 600 to AED 1,200 mid, and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 and above for specialist exam-year support, all at weekly one-hour sessions.

Package pricing is the other thing to read carefully. Published packages in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, which is a lower effective hourly figure, and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home visits. A package is cheaper per hour and less forgiving: if the school's assessment calendar shifts or the family travels, unused sessions are the hidden cost, and that cost does not appear in the headline.

The tier decision, and the price attached to getting it wrong

Maths is the subject where an administrative choice sets a ceiling, and in Al Sufouh that choice is often discovered rather than made. Cambridge 0580 is entered at Core or Extended. Core caps at grade C, or 5 on the numeric variant, and its papers exclude a block of content Extended requires. Pearson 4MA1 is entered at Foundation or Higher, with Foundation capped at grade 5 and Higher running to 9. The entry is made by the centre, usually confirmed in the first half of Year 11, and it is written on the statement of entry.

Both errors cost money in different ways. A student entered at the lower tier who is capable of the higher one is paying for tuition against a ceiling: no amount of teaching produces a grade the paper cannot award. A student pushed onto the higher tier without the algebraic foundation is paying for content they will not reach in the time available, and will usually have sat a whole year of past papers at the wrong difficulty. The second error is the more common in this catchment, because ambition is cheap in September.

The question is answerable with evidence rather than opinion, and the evidence is a timed past paper at each tier marked against the published mark scheme. That is one or two sessions. On the mid band it is AED 150 to AED 600, against a decision that governs eighteen months of work and the entire post-sixteen conversation. It is the single highest-return hour available in IGCSE maths, and it has to happen before the centre's entry deadline rather than after.

Where the tier is already fixed and wrong, the honest answer is to stop paying for the ceiling and redirect. A Core candidate who is clearly stronger than the tier should have the entry discussed with the school. Where a change is not possible, the sensible plan is to secure every available mark at that tier and to spend the remaining budget on the subject where the ceiling is not the constraint.

Four maths qualifications, four different bills

  • 0580 Core and Extended, 0607 Core and Extended, 0606 single tier, 4MA1 Foundation and Higher
  • 0607 assumes a graphic display calculator and adds an investigation paper
  • 0606 runs two two-hour papers and is an abstraction step, not a volume step
  • 4MA1 runs two 100-mark papers of two hours each with a calculator permitted

A parent who asks for maths help and does not name the code is buying a lottery ticket. The four qualifications in common use around Al Sufouh are Cambridge 0580 Mathematics, Cambridge 0607 International Mathematics, Cambridge 0606 Additional Mathematics and Pearson Edexcel 4MA1 Specification A, with Pearson 4PM1 Further Pure Mathematics appearing in some strong sets. They differ in paper structure, in calculator assumptions and in the kind of question a student has to recognise.

The 0607 case is the most expensive misunderstanding available. International Mathematics assumes a graphic display calculator throughout and includes an investigation paper that 0580 has no equivalent of. A student entered for 0607 who is taught from 0580 resources will sit unfamiliar graphing questions and will lose marks describing a sketch rather than reading values off it. Four sessions of the wrong material is roughly AED 600 to AED 1,800 at the mid and specialist bands, paid and wasted.

0606 Additional Mathematics is a different kind of mismatch risk. It is entered alongside 0580 by schools preparing students for A Level, it runs two papers of two hours each with a calculator permitted, and it covers calculus, binomial expansion, trigonometric identities and vectors. Tutors who are comfortable with 0580 are not automatically comfortable here, because the difficulty is abstraction rather than volume. A family paying for 0606 support should ask directly whether the tutor has taught the syllabus.

Pearson 4MA1 differs from Cambridge in mark-scheme conventions as much as in content. Two papers of a hundred marks each, two hours apiece, calculator permitted, Foundation and Higher tiers. A tutor who has only taught Cambridge will mark a 4MA1 response against the wrong expectations for method and presentation. The remedy costs nothing: ask for the statement of entry, read the code off it, and say the code out loud in the first conversation.

04

Which topics eat the sessions, and what each costs to fix

A monthly budget is really a session count, and a session count is really a list of topics. The table below is built from where Extended and Higher tier candidates in this catchment most reliably lose marks, with a realistic number of sessions to repair each and a cost at the mid-market band of AED 150 to AED 300 an hour. It is an estimate of work rather than a promise about a grade; no tutor can promise a grade and nobody should accept a quote that implies one.

The pattern across the rows is that the expensive topics are the ones built on something earlier. Algebraic fractions are not hard in themselves; they are hard for a student who is shaky on factorising, and the session count doubles because the prerequisite has to be rebuilt first. Trigonometry beyond right-angled triangles behaves the same way: the sine and cosine rules take one session to teach and three to make reliable, because reliability depends on the algebra underneath.

The cheap rows are worth as much per dirham. Rounding and accuracy, units in mensuration, and giving answers in the form the question demanded are pure technique, and they recur across every paper. A student losing six marks a paper to premature rounding is losing a grade boundary's worth of marks to something fixable in two sessions. That is the highest-return work in IGCSE maths and it is almost never what a parent asks for, because it does not feel like teaching.

What this table is for is a conversation with a tutor rather than a purchase order. Bring a marked mock paper, identify which of these rows it reveals, and agree a plan against them. A tutoring arrangement that cannot name which rows it is working on by the third session is an arrangement without a diagnosis, and that is where monthly costs drift upward without anything changing.

What a resit costs, in money and in months

  • UAE candidates sit June and November; the February/March series is India-only
  • Pearson November 2026 timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026
  • Pearson November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026
  • Cambridge centres are allocated to one of six zones; the zone timetable is the one that counts

Some of the most expensive maths tutoring in Dubai is bought in August, and much of it is bought without a clear view of what the November grade will be used for. UAE candidates sit the June series and the November series. The February and March series exists but is offered to India only, which matters because general advice circulating online quotes its dates to Gulf parents. Working the decision through properly takes twenty minutes and saves a month of fees.

The datable anchors are Pearson's. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November each year, the November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, including the International GCSE November series not yet sat, and those can be revised, so the live official timetable is the only safe reference.

The arithmetic of a resit is therefore this. Results arrive in the third week of August. The November papers sit from late October. That is roughly eight to ten weeks. At two sessions a week on the mid band it is around AED 1,200 to AED 2,400 a month, so AED 2,400 to AED 6,000 for the block, with specialist rates higher. The new grade arrives in January. If the application the grade was meant to support closes before January, the money buys a corrected transcript rather than an opened door, and that may still be worth it, but it should be a decision rather than a reflex.

Cambridge candidates should add one step. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, and its exams officers' guide is explicit that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for the zone, because Cambridge cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Ask the exams officer for the zone and the dated timetable in the same email as the entry confirmation. A paper sitting two days earlier than assumed rewrites the last fortnight of a paid intensive block.

06

Group, centre or one-to-one for maths in this catchment

  • Group pricing runs AED 80-180 per student against AED 150-450 one-to-one
  • A group only works where board, tier and weakness are shared
  • Centre rosters are built around the commonest entries, not around 0607 or 4PM1
  • One-to-one earns its premium where the code is unusual or the gap is specific

Group tuition is the obvious way to cut a monthly bill, and for maths it works under one condition that Al Sufouh rarely satisfies. Every student in the group has to sit the same board, the same tier, and share the weakness being worked on. At AED 80 to AED 180 per student per hour against AED 150 to AED 450 for one-to-one, the saving is real when that condition holds.

It rarely holds here because the catchment splits. Within a single Year 11 cohort at a school near Al Sufouh you will find 0580 Extended candidates, 0580 Core candidates, 0607 candidates and, in schools using Pearson, 4MA1 Higher and Foundation candidates. A group containing an Extended student and a Foundation student is two lessons delivered at once, and both are delivered badly. The parent paying the lower rate has not saved money; they have bought a different product.

Tuition centres sit between the two. A centre with a fixed timetable and a rostered tutor can be effective where the student needs structure and company more than they need precision, and the published monthly packages in this market reflect that positioning. What a centre cannot usually offer is a tutor matched to 0607 or to 4PM1, because the roster is built around the commonest entries.

The honest summary is that one-to-one is the right purchase where the problem is specific and the code is unusual, and group work is the right purchase where the problem is shared and the code is common. Most Al Sufouh maths requests fall into the first category, which is why the monthly numbers in this page's first table are the ones families end up planning against.

07

Where maths tutoring money is wasted in Al Sufouh

  • An uncoded match costs roughly AED 600-1,800 in the first month
  • Self-marked papers hide method errors instead of exposing them
  • School clinics are already paid for inside tuition fees
  • Three supported subjects at mid-market rates is AED 1,800-3,600 a month

The waste in this market is not usually overpayment. It is correct payment for the wrong work, and there are four recurring versions of it in this catchment.

The first is the uncoded match, already covered: a tutor teaching 0580 to a 0607 candidate, or Cambridge conventions to a Pearson entry. The second is unmarked practice. A student who completes eight past papers and marks them himself will report good scores and will keep repeating the same method errors, because self-marking cannot catch what the candidate does not know is wrong. Marking against the published mark scheme is slow and it is where the diagnostic value lives. If an arrangement contains no marked timed papers by January of Year 11, the family is buying teaching without assessment.

The third is duplication. Al Sufouh schools run their own maths clinics, intervention sets and after-school sessions, and those are inside fees already paid. A tutor repeating Thursday's clinic content is being paid to deliver free provision again. One email to the subject teacher asking what the school already runs frequently removes a weekly session from the plan without removing support, which is AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month at the mid band.

The fourth is scope creep, and it is the expensive one. A family that engages maths help in October regularly holds three weekly sessions across three subjects by February, because every new assessment produces a new worry. Three subjects at the mid band is AED 1,800 to AED 3,600 a month and eleven commitments in a student's week. Deciding in advance how many subjects will be supported, writing it down, and accepting that the other grades will be what they will be is a cost control and usually an academic improvement too.

What a parent can verify for nothing before paying

  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free of charge and valid for two years
  • A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a numbered document, not a marketing phrase
  • Ask for the source and date of any AED figure you are quoted
  • Assessed work is produced by the student; the tutor teaches and gives feedback

Four checks, all free, all worth more than any marketing claim. The first is the permit. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated: the private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE's own service page is Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, listing no fees and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. Because it costs nothing, a quote that itemises a licensing charge should be questioned.

The second is the accreditation claim. IB Gram holds no accreditation from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson, and claims none. A tutoring business with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. That is a specific document with a number on it. Any provider describing itself as approved by a regulator or a board should be asked to produce it.

The third is the rate source. Ask where a quoted market figure came from and when it was read. Three of the six competitor pages researched in this cluster publish no price at all, and two of the others quote in US dollars, which is not a currency a Dubai household transacts in. One publishes a schema price range that contradicts the figure on its own page. A provider who cannot date a number is not giving you evidence.

The fourth is the honesty boundary on coursework. A tutor teaches, explains, questions and gives feedback on work the student has produced. A tutor does not write, complete, draft or produce assessed work, and where a school requires an authenticity declaration the candidate signs it. One operator in this market advertises completed Internal Assessments at a fixed price; buying that places a malpractice exposure on the student rather than on the seller. For maths at IGCSE the exposure is smaller than at Diploma level but the principle is the same.

Where we tutor

Al Sufouh and the communities around it

The notes below are about what each location does to the cost and the timing of maths support, because those are the two things a postcode actually changes in this market.

Al Sufouh 1 and Al Sufouh 2

The coastal strip holding Dubai College and GEMS Wellington International School, with villa streets behind. Short school runs keep an early slot viable, but a visiting tutor driving in from further east is still charging for the journey, and the evening return along Al Sufouh Road is the slow direction.

Dubai Knowledge Park

Apartments and university campuses with households working past five. Later slots are the norm, and later slots are precisely where in-home supply runs out, because a visiting tutor's day ends when their last drive does. Monthly costs rise with the hour here for that reason alone.

Al Barsha 1

Inland across Sheikh Zayed Road, with the American School of Dubai, Dubai American Academy and Kings' School Al Barsha. The nearest large IGCSE cohort, and the pool Al Sufouh families compete with for the same local tutors on the same evenings.

The Greens and The Views

Low-rise apartment communities with Regent International School inside the Greens. Internal distances are short enough that an in-home quote can look competitive here, but the tier and syllabus mismatch risk does not improve with proximity.

Dubai Media City and Internet City

Workday-dominated apartment districts inland of Al Sufouh. A four o'clock session is unrealistic for most households; half past six or later is normal, and that is a slot online delivery supplies at no premium.

Dubai Marina and JBR

Dense towers immediately west with limited access roads and heavy evening congestion. Lost sessions rather than unavailable tutors is the usual failure mode, and a cancelled in-home session is often still a billed one.

Emirates Hills and the Springs

Inland villa districts served by Dubai British School Emirates Hills and Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills. The distances between villas cap a visiting tutor at two students an evening, and that constraint is priced into every quote made here.

Umm Suqeim and Al Safa

The Jumeirah side, villa-heavy with British and IB schools mixed. Travel into Al Sufouh crosses two major junctions, and the surcharge a visiting tutor applies for that crossing is logistics rather than mathematics.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Sufouh

Al Sufouh and the Knowledge Park edge

The schools inside or bordering Al Sufouh. The British pathway here runs IGCSE at sixteen before splitting towards A Level or the IB Diploma, which is why demand for 0580 Extended and for 0606 Additional Mathematics appears in the same cohort. Programme detail should be confirmed against each school's own KHDA listing.

  • Dubai College
  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Regent International School
  • Emirates International School - Jumeirah

Al Barsha and Umm Suqeim

The nearest large cluster inland. American and British curricula dominate, and the mix means IGCSE maths entries here sit alongside other qualifications entirely, so a parent should never assume a neighbour's child is sitting the same paper.

  • American School of Dubai
  • Dubai American Academy
  • Kings' School Al Barsha
  • Al Mawakeb School Al Barsha
  • Dubai National School Al Barsha

Emirates Hills and the lakeside communities

Inland of the Greens, drawing from the Springs, the Meadows, the Lakes and Emirates Hills. Mid-phase moves between these schools and Al Sufouh are the commonest route to a split-board subject profile, where maths sits with one board and the sciences with another.

  • Dubai British School Emirates Hills
  • Dubai International Academy Emirates Hills
  • Emirates International School - Meadows
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park

Schools are named to describe the Al Sufouh education ecosystem families here already know. No affiliation, endorsement or partnership with any named school or group is implied, and none exists.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Read the code off the statement of entry

The statement of entry names the board, the syllabus code and the tier for every subject. Reading 0580 Extended or 4MA1 Higher off that document and saying it in the first conversation removes the most expensive mistake in this market before any money changes hands. The exams officer can confirm it in writing if the document has gone missing.

  2. 02

Sit one timed past paper first

Before buying anything, have the student sit a full past paper at the entered tier under timed conditions. Bring it to the diagnostic session unmarked. That single paper tells a tutor which of the topic rows in this page's table apply, and it converts a vague worry into a session plan with a count attached.

  3. 03

Take the free trial, then agree a monthly figure

One lesson, one subject, booked before any payment is taken. Afterwards, agree the monthly number rather than the hourly rate, and agree how many subjects will be supported. Writing both down is what prevents the February drift from one weekly session into three across three subjects.

  4. 04

Ask the school what it already provides

Maths clinics, intervention sets and after-school sessions are inside fees already paid. One email to the subject teacher establishes what is running, when, and whether your child is already on a list. This regularly removes a paid weekly session from a plan without removing any support at all.

  5. 05

Review tier readiness before the entry deadline

Tier is decided by the centre in Year 11 and sets a grade ceiling. A timed paper at each tier, marked against the published mark scheme, settles the question with evidence. That review has to happen before the deadline, because afterwards the only remaining choice is how to work within the ceiling.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Costs shown monthly, as a household plans them

Hourly rates understate what tutoring becomes over a term. Every band on this page is converted into one, two and three sessions a week, with the publishing source and an October 2026 reading date attached, so a figure can be checked rather than taken on trust.

Matched by code and tier, in that order

Cambridge 0580, Cambridge 0607, Cambridge 0606 and Pearson 4MA1 are four qualifications. Confirming code and tier before the first paid session is what stops a month of sessions running against the wrong past papers and the wrong mark-scheme conventions.

Marked papers rather than self-marking

From the point syllabus coverage is reasonable, a proportion of each session is a timed paper marked against the published mark scheme. Self-marking cannot catch what a student does not know is wrong, and without marked papers a tutoring arrangement has no diagnosis to show you.

Delivery model stated before you ask

Lessons for UAE families are one-to-one online over live video in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visiting is offered only in India. Two ranking competitors in this market route UAE parents to non-UAE numbers without stating where delivery happens.

No regulator or board approval claimed

IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson accreditation and claims none. Regulators appear on this page to explain what they govern. A provider calling itself approved should be asked for the permit or centre number.

No grade promised at any price

The session counts in this page's repair table are estimates of work, not predictions of outcome. No tutor can promise a grade, and a quote that implies one is selling confidence rather than teaching. What can be promised is marked evidence of where the marks are currently going.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Sufouh: your questions answered

What does a month of IGCSE maths tutoring cost in Al Sufouh?+

At one weekly one-hour session, Bestimate's Dubai estimates put the budget end at AED 240 to AED 600 a month, the mid-market at AED 600 to AED 1,200, and specialist exam-year support at AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 and above. Published packages in this market include AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home visits. Those are market figures read in October 2026 and attributed to who published them, not an IB Gram price list.

Which maths syllabus is my child actually entered for?+

It is written on the statement of entry the school issues, and the exams officer can confirm it in writing. The four in common use around Al Sufouh are Cambridge 0580 Mathematics, Cambridge 0607 International Mathematics, Cambridge 0606 Additional Mathematics and Pearson Edexcel 4MA1 Specification A, with 4PM1 Further Pure appearing in some strong sets. Reading the code off that document before you agree a rate is the cheapest quality control available, because the four need different past papers and different mark-scheme conventions.

Does the Core or Extended tier change how much tutoring my child needs?+

Yes, in both directions. Core on Cambridge 0580 excludes algebraic fractions, functions, non-right-angled trigonometry and vectors, so there is less to cover and the grade caps at C, or 5 on the numeric variant. Extended covers the full syllabus and runs to A*, which takes more sessions. The expensive error is a mismatch: paying for teaching against a ceiling the paper cannot exceed, or paying for content the student will not reach. One timed paper at each tier settles it with evidence.

Why is Cambridge 0607 taught differently from Cambridge 0580?+

Because it is a different syllabus. International Mathematics 0607 assumes a graphic display calculator throughout and includes an investigation paper that 0580 has no equivalent of. A 0607 candidate taught from 0580 resources meets unfamiliar graphing question styles and loses marks describing a sketch rather than reading values off it. Four sessions on the wrong material is roughly AED 600 to AED 1,800 at mid and specialist bands. Any tutor who does not know the distinction exists should not be teaching the course.

Is a visiting maths tutor in Al Sufouh worth the extra monthly cost?+

The published in-home band runs AED 180 to AED 500 an hour including travel, against AED 150 to AED 450 for an online specialist, so at three sessions a week that gap is several hundred dirhams a month. What the premium buys is presence, which has real value for a younger or easily distracted student. What it does not buy is subject range: restricting the pool to people who drive to Al Sufouh at your child's free hour removes most 0607 and Pearson-trained tutors. IB Gram delivers UAE lessons online only.

How many sessions a week should a Year 11 maths student in Al Sufouh have?+

One weekly session from early in Year 10 covers a syllabus properly and costs roughly AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month at the mid band. Stepping to two or three in the eight to twelve weeks before the series is normal and useful. Running three a week from February is the pattern that produces a large bill and an exhausted student, because the time has to come from somewhere. Fewer subjects supported properly beats more subjects supported thinly, and the student's remaining week is a real limit.

What does an IGCSE maths resit in November cost and when does the grade arrive?+

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. The November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. June 2026 results went to students on 20 August 2026, which leaves roughly eight to ten weeks of preparation. At two sessions a week on the mid band that is about AED 2,400 to AED 6,000 for the block. If the application the grade was meant to support closes before January, that is worth knowing first.

Which maths topics cost the most sessions to fix?+

The ones that depend on something earlier. Algebraic fractions typically take four to six sessions, because the real gap is usually factorising rather than fractions. Trigonometry beyond right-angled triangles takes three to five, because reliability depends on the algebra underneath. Functions and transformations take three to four. The cheapest and highest-return work is rounding, accuracy and giving answers in the form demanded, which takes one or two sessions and recurs on every paper a student will ever sit.

Can a small maths group work out cheaper for us?+

Per student, group rates run AED 80 to AED 180 an hour against AED 150 to AED 450 one-to-one, so the saving is genuine when one condition holds: every student in the group sits the same board, the same tier and shares the weakness being worked. Around Al Sufouh that condition is rare, because a single Year 11 cohort contains 0580 Core, 0580 Extended, 0607 and sometimes 4MA1 candidates. A mixed group is two lessons delivered at once and both suffer.

Do I still need a tutor if the school runs a maths clinic?+

Often not for the same content. School clinics, intervention sets and after-school maths sessions are already inside the fees you pay, and a private tutor repeating Thursday's clinic material is being paid to deliver free provision twice. One email to the subject teacher asking what is running and whether your child is on a list regularly removes a weekly paid session, which is AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month at the mid band. Private support is for what the school is not covering.

Does a maths tutor in Dubai need a MoHRE permit, and does it raise the price?+

A permit is required and it adds nothing. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE lists the service as Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, with no fees and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through its smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted to you.

Is self-marking past papers good enough to save on tutoring hours?+

It is good for fluency and poor for diagnosis. A student who marks his own work cannot catch what he does not know is wrong, which is why self-marked scores drift upward while the same method errors repeat. Marking against the published mark scheme is slow, unglamorous and where the value sits: it shows whether a lost mark was knowledge, method, accuracy or timing, and those four need different fixes. A reasonable compromise is self-marking for routine practice and tutor marking for whole timed papers.

What happens if no tutor is free for Cambridge 0607 or Pearson 4PM1?+

You get told, with a timescale, rather than matched with somebody approximate. The scarce codes in this market are 0607 International Mathematics, 0606 Additional Mathematics and 4PM1 Further Pure Mathematics, because the entries are fewer and the teaching experience is rarer. Where no match in a suitable time zone is free, the options are a tutor working an Al Sufouh-friendly evening slot from elsewhere, a short wait with a named date, or a diagnostic hour with a generalist to establish what is actually needed. Being told costs less than being matched badly.

Are IGCSE maths grades enough for Ministry of Education equivalency?+

For the British track, the published requirement is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus one accredited Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. One ranking competitor states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects, which does not match the published rule. Verify your own case with the Ministry of Education rather than relying on any provider's summary.

When is the right month to start maths support for an Al Sufouh Year 10?+

September of Year 10, at one session a week. That shape costs roughly AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month at the mid band, covers the syllabus rather than selecting from it, and leaves time to review tier readiness before the centre's entry deadline. Starting in February of Year 11 at three sessions a week costs two to three times as much per month and can only triage. The cheapest maths tutoring is always the earliest, which is the least satisfying advice available.

How do I stop a maths tutoring budget from doubling by February?+

Decide two numbers in advance and write them down: how many subjects will be supported, and what the monthly ceiling is. Scope creep is the largest single cost in a Dubai tutoring budget, because every new school assessment produces a new worry and a new weekly session. Three subjects at the mid band is AED 1,800 to AED 3,600 a month and eleven commitments in a student's week. Accepting that some grades will be what they will be is a financial decision and usually an academic one.

Read the code, sit one paper, then set a monthly figure

If you are weighing up an IGCSE maths tutor in Al Sufouh, three steps settle most of it. Read the syllabus code and tier off the statement of entry. Have your child sit one full past paper at that tier, timed and unmarked. Then take the free trial lesson, one subject, with no payment taken beforehand, and use the readout to agree a monthly number rather than an hourly rate. Lessons run live online, one-to-one, in Gulf Standard Time, matched to the code your child actually sits rather than to the word maths.
