IGCSE Maths Tutor in Al Jaddaf

Deciding on an IGCSE maths tutor in Al Jaddaf is a budgeting decision sitting inside a larger one. Dubai school fees are not rising for the 2026-27 academic year, which KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026, and that makes a tutoring line that doubles each year worth a question. This page prices maths support against everything else the household is paying, and names which interventions move a mark per dirham spent. Lessons run one-to-one online on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Tutoring priced against school fees, exam entry and the resit, not in isolation
  • Lessons are live online one-to-one; IB Gram makes no UAE home visits

Price the tutoring against everything else you are paying

A tutoring budget looks reasonable on its own and often looks different beside the rest of the education spend. So start with the context. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. Dubai had 227 private schools serving 387,441 students in 2024-25, and seven more schools join for the 2026-27 intake, creating 16,846 places. School costs are flat and capacity is growing.

Against that backdrop, a maths tutoring line that rises every term deserves a direct question: what did the last block of hours actually move? For a household in Al Jaddaf the honest version of that question has a testable answer, because mathematics is the subject where marks are most diagnosable. A timed paper marked against the published scheme before a block and after it will say whether the money worked. Almost nobody runs that test, which is why so much is spent without anybody knowing.

The published rates are the second piece of context. Budget online tutoring in Dubai is advertised from AED 33 to AED 52 by Tutopiya and from AED 45 to AED 65 by EdFlik. A qualified subject tutor online is quoted at roughly AED 150 to AED 300, with Unitors listing IGCSE from AED 150. Specialist rates run from around AED 200 to AED 450 and above, with TutorChase at AED 270, and BartyED publishes AED 650 at the top. In-home visiting rates are quoted at AED 180 to AED 350 by Bestimate and AED 200 to AED 500 by home-tutor providers. Each figure belongs to the provider named and was read in October 2026.

Monthly, which is how families actually budget, Bestimate's estimates for a weekly one-hour session run roughly AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to AED 1,200 in the middle band, and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Those are per subject. Monthly packages seen in the market include AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

IB Gram does not send tutors to homes in Al Jaddaf or anywhere else in the UAE. Tuition for UAE families is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; home visiting is a service we operate only in India. We also print no IB Gram hourly rate on this page, because the right figure depends on the specification, the tier and how close the series is, and a single number on a landing page would be wrong for most of the people reading it. The free trial comes first and the quote follows it.

What follows prices maths support in context, ranks interventions by what they move per dirham, explains why a tier decision is a spending decision, does the resit arithmetic, and sets out why Additional Mathematics 0606 is simultaneously the most expensive hour in this market and often the best value in it.

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An Al Jaddaf family buying IGCSE maths support is at one of three decision points, each with a different cost profile. These are the routes we cover.

0580Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics

A two-year course entered at Core or Extended, assessed by written papers with no coursework. Core is capped below the top grades; Extended carries the full range and adds algebraic fractions, vectors, circle theorems and harder trigonometry. Paper durations and calculator arrangements have been revised across syllabus versions, so the current syllabus document is the only safe reference.

The cost-relevant detail is the ceiling. A Core entry made for safety is cheaper to prepare for and closes the top grades, which can mean paying later for a post-16 route that was foreclosed at sixteen. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones with a separate timetable each, and states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after the wrong zone timetable was used.

4MA1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics

Specification A, tiered Foundation and Higher, assessed by two written papers of two hours each at 100 marks apiece with a calculator permitted. Specification B, 4MB1, has a different structure and is entered by fewer schools. Foundation carries a grade ceiling, so the tier decision is a grade decision taken a year ahead of the paper.

Pearson runs International GCSE in May/June and November. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. That January timing is a budgeting fact: a November resit decision is taken in August and paid for in the autumn, when demand is already peaking.

0606Ages 15-16 · Year 11

Cambridge Additional Mathematics

A separate award alongside 0580 Extended, covering functions, quadratics in depth, binomial expansion, differentiation, integration, advanced trigonometry and vectors. There is no Core tier and no lower-tier fallback, and schools frequently teach it in less curriculum time than the content warrants.

Within any single Dubai district the number of tutors who have taught 0606 through to a June series is small, so the rate reflects scarcity. It is also the subject with the clearest financial payoff, because a student who has done 0606 meets almost nothing new in the first term of A Level Mathematics or IB Analysis and Approaches, where support is considerably more expensive per hour.

RESITAges 16+ · After a June series

The November resit

Both boards offer a November series available to UAE candidates, which is the standard retake route. Entry is made through the school's exam office shortly after June results, and results arrive in the new year rather than in August.

This is the most commonly unbudgeted cost in an Al Jaddaf IGCSE year and it carries three charges at once: an entry fee, a compressed autumn of intensive tuition bought at peak demand, and a results date that may land after sixth-form conversations have moved on. Deciding in advance what June result would trigger a resit converts a surprise into a line you have already priced.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Within IGCSE mathematics, some topics are cheap to fix and some are not. These are the areas Al Jaddaf families buy support for, ranked loosely by what an hour achieves in each.

Reverse percentage and proportional reasoning

Core and Foundation especially

The most reliably failed question type at the lower tiers and the cheapest thing on this list to fix. The student knows what a percentage is and multiplies where they should divide. Twenty minutes of deliberate practice removes it from every subsequent paper.

Area and volume scale factors

All tiers

Similar shapes with the linear factor applied to an area or a volume instead of being squared or cubed. One of the highest-value single corrections available, because the same error recurs across mensuration, similarity and ratio questions throughout the paper.

Writing claimable method

Extended and Higher tier

The dominant loss at the top tiers. A correct answer reached in three lines forfeits marks a five-line scheme would have awarded, and a wrong answer with no working rescues nothing. A fortnight of enforced habit is worth more than a month of new content.

Algebraic manipulation

Extended and Higher tier

Expanding, factorising, algebraic fractions, changing the subject and simultaneous equations with one non-linear. Expensive to fix relative to the items above, because fluency is built by repetition rather than by a single correction, but it underpins everything else.

Histograms and grouped data

All tiers

Unequal class widths read as frequency rather than frequency density. A standing trap, cheap to correct, and worth doing before any broader statistics work because it appears in most papers in some form.

Trigonometry

All tiers

Sine and cosine rules, the ambiguous case, bearings and three-dimensional problems. Moderate cost. Half the lost marks here are a calculator left in the wrong angle mode, which is a habit rather than a knowledge problem.

Circle theorems and geometric reasoning

Extended and Higher tier

Requires a written reason alongside each step, and most students give the answer without it. Moderate cost to fix and high value, because the reasoning marks are predictable and the question type appears every series.

Vectors and transformations

Extended and Higher tier

Column vectors, magnitude, vector geometry, and the four transformations with full descriptions. A rotation without a centre and a direction earns part marks at best, which makes this another cheap correction with a visible return.

Calculus in 0606

Additional Mathematics only

Differentiation of products, quotients and trigonometric functions, stationary points, rates of change and integration. The most expensive hour in this market because specialist supply is thin, and the one with the clearest post-16 payoff.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Al Jaddaf families buy IGCSE maths support, all delivered online one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. Each has a different cost profile and a different right moment.

Diagnostic block with a stated endpoint

Six to eight sessions aimed at the specific errors a marked timed paper exposed, ending at the school's next assessment. The best value format in this market, because the target is identified before any hour is paid for and the finish line is agreed in advance.

  • One timed paper on the exact code and tier, marked to the scheme
  • A session count agreed before the first lesson, not open-ended
  • Cheap corrections first: reverse percentages, scale factors, method writing
  • Ends at a school assessment so the return is measurable

Weekly term-time support

One hour a week for a student with a genuine algebraic fluency gap rather than a set of correctable errors. More expensive across a year than a block and justified where the gap is broad, for instance after a move between curricula.

  • Same weekly slot chosen for the worst normal weekday
  • Planned against the school's own scheme of work
  • Reviewed at each school reporting point rather than by month count
  • Reduced to a block as soon as the fluency gap narrows

Pre-series intensive, booked early

A compressed run in the eight to twelve weeks before a June or November series. The most expensive format per week, and the one where booking the slot months in advance costs exactly the same and secures a materially better match.

  • Timed papers on the correct board, code and tier only
  • Marking question by question against the official scheme
  • Frequency raised in school holidays rather than assessment weeks
  • A shortening topic list the student can see getting shorter

01

Tutoring cost in context: the whole education line

Tutoring is usually assessed against other tutoring, which is the wrong comparison. The useful comparison is against the rest of what the household already pays for this child's education, because that is how the decision actually feels when the invoice arrives. School fees are the dominant item, and in Dubai they are currently stable: KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees would not increase for the 2026-27 academic year under Dubai's second economic incentives package.

Tutoring, by contrast, tends to grow without anybody deciding that it should. A weekly hour in one subject becomes two subjects, then three, then an intensive block before the series, and the annual figure arrives at something nobody chose. The mechanism is not greed on anybody's part; it is the absence of a stopping rule. A block without a stated endpoint renews by default, and a renewal that nobody evaluated is a renewal nobody can justify.

Two further items belong in the same line and are routinely left out. Examination entry fees apply where a student sits as a private candidate rather than through their school, which happens for a resit or for a subject the school does not offer; those are quoted by the centre rather than published centrally, so ask the exam office. And the resit itself, which is the expensive surprise because it lands after a full year of spending.

The table below sets the items beside each other with what is actually known about each. Where a figure is not published, it says so rather than guessing, because an invented number in a cost table is worse than an empty cell.

What moves a maths mark per dirham spent

Mathematics is the subject where return on a tutoring hour is most measurable, because the errors are specific and the mark scheme is published. That makes it possible to rank interventions by what they move rather than by how reassuring they feel, and the ranking is not what most families expect. The cheapest interventions are corrections, and they are cheap because the same error is costing marks on every paper the student sits.

Top of the list is reverse percentage at Core and Foundation tier. The question gives a price after a discount and asks for the price before; the student multiplies instead of dividing. Twenty minutes removes it permanently. Second is area and volume scale factors, where the linear factor is applied to an area or a volume instead of being squared or cubed, which recurs across mensuration, similarity and ratio. Third is histograms with unequal class widths read as frequency rather than frequency density.

At Extended and Higher tier the highest-return item is writing claimable method. A correct answer reached in three lines forfeits marks that a five-line scheme would have awarded on a question the student fully understood, and a wrong answer with no working rescues nothing at all. This is a habit rather than a topic, it takes about a fortnight of enforced practice, and it is worth more than a month of new content for most students at a middle grade.

Expensive interventions are the ones where fluency has to be built rather than an error corrected: algebraic manipulation at the top tiers, and the calculus content in Additional Mathematics 0606. Those genuinely need weeks, and they are where a weekly arrangement rather than a short block is justified. Buying a weekly arrangement for a problem that was three corrections is the commonest waste in this market, and a marked timed paper tells you which situation you are in for the price of one session.

03

The tier decision is a spending decision

  • Core and Foundation carry a grade ceiling that performance cannot exceed
  • A ceiling accepted at sixteen can close a post-16 route that costs more to reopen
  • The window between the provisional decision and final entry is where hours do most work
  • Ask the department which tier they plan and what evidence would change it

Cambridge Core and Pearson Foundation both carry a grade ceiling, and a student entered at the lower tier cannot be awarded the top grades however well they perform. Extended and Higher carry the full range with harder content and a steeper paper. Schools normally decide on Year 10 evidence, and a parent who does not ask will often learn the decision after it has been made. That is a financial decision as much as an academic one, and it is made a year before the money is spent.

The cheaper path is the lower tier. Preparation is narrower, the content load is lighter, and a safe pass is more likely. The cost sits later. A Level Mathematics, Physics and Economics and IB Higher Level sciences assume the Extended or Higher tier content, so a ceiling accepted at sixteen can close a post-16 route, and reopening it means buying bridging support at post-16 rates, which are higher than IGCSE rates in every band of this market.

There is a specific window where tutoring money does unusual work, and it is narrow. Between a provisional tier decision and the final entry, a borderline student who gets focused work on the exact Extended or Higher topics the department doubts can move the decision. A student who gets generalised extra maths usually does not, because the department is watching particular evidence: algebraic fluency, confidence with the harder geometry, and performance on the longer structured paper under timed conditions.

So the advice for an Al Jaddaf family is to ask the maths department two questions in Year 10. Which tier are they planning, and what evidence would change it. Both answers are free and both are more useful than any amount of hours bought in ignorance of them. If the department names specific topics, that is the spending target and a short block is enough. If they name general confidence, that is a slower and more expensive problem and worth knowing early.

04

The resit arithmetic, done in advance

  • A resit carries an entry fee, a peak-demand autumn block and a January results date
  • Agree in advance what June result triggers a resit, and in which subject
  • A November maths resit competes with the start of a post-16 maths course
  • The February/March Cambridge series is India-only; UAE candidates sit June and November

A November resit is the cost families discover rather than plan, and it arrives at the worst possible moment: after a full year of spending, at the point when demand across the Dubai market peaks. It carries three charges at once. An entry fee, made through the school's exam office shortly after June results. A compressed block of intensive tuition in the autumn, bought when specialist availability is thinnest. And a results date in the new year, which Pearson's November 2025 series illustrates: those results reached students on 22 January 2026.

The way to defuse it is to set a decision rule in advance. Before the June series, agree what result would trigger a resit in which subject. That single conversation converts a panicked August into an executed plan, lets the autumn block be booked while slots exist, and removes the scramble that makes the whole thing expensive. It also prevents the opposite error, which is resitting a grade that was actually sufficient for the destination the student is heading to.

There is a calendar point that matters for a maths resit specifically. A November entry means the autumn term contains both the resit preparation and, for a student who has moved into a post-16 course, the start of A Level or IB Diploma mathematics. Those two compete directly for the same evenings, and the post-16 course is the one with longer-term consequences. A resit plan that ignores this buys hours into a week that has no room for them.

One correction worth making while on the subject of series. Cambridge's February and March series is offered in India only. UAE candidates sit the June and November series. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. Several pages aimed at Gulf parents quote a February or March window with an Indian entry deadline, and a family budgeting intensive tuition towards it would be paying for revision ahead of an exam their school cannot enter them for.

05

Additional Mathematics 0606: most expensive hour, often best value

  • 0606 rates reflect scarce supply in any single district, not extra difficulty
  • It introduces calculus and binomial expansion a year before post-16 courses do
  • No Core tier and often less curriculum time than the content warrants
  • Worth the premium only if post-16 plans point at maths, physics or engineering

Cambridge Additional Mathematics 0606 is the most expensive subject to support in this market and frequently the best purchase in it, which is an unusual combination worth explaining. The expense is supply. It is taken by a minority of IGCSE students, so within any single Dubai district the number of tutors who have taught it through to a June series is small, and the rate reflects scarcity rather than difficulty.

The value is forward-looking. 0606 introduces differentiation, integration, binomial expansion, composite and inverse functions and advanced trigonometric identities a full year before A Level Mathematics or IB Analysis and Approaches would. A student who has done it meets almost nothing genuinely new in the first term of a post-16 maths course. A student arriving from 0580 Extended alone meets several things at once, in a term that also contains five other subjects, and the support needed then is bought at post-16 specialist rates.

There is also a structural reason 0606 benefits disproportionately from one-to-one work. It has no Core tier and no lower-level fallback, and schools frequently teach it in less curriculum time than the content warrants, sometimes as an option outside the main timetable. That produces a cohort of capable students covering calculus quickly, with the department moving on before fluency has settled. The gap is narrow and specific, which is exactly what an hour of one-to-one time addresses well and a group class does not.

The practical advice for a family in Al Jaddaf weighing it. If post-16 plans point towards A Level Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or IB Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, 0606 is worth the extra load and worth the scarcity premium on support. If they do not, the same money spent raising an Extended grade in 0580 is the better purchase, and we will say so rather than selling the harder option.

06

Group classes, centres and the cost per usable minute

  • Group classes are the cheapest per hour and suit practice volume genuinely
  • A mixed-board, mixed-tier room prevents the corrections that move maths marks
  • Centre locations follow commercial districts, not school catchments
  • Compare cost per usable minute, not cost per hour

A tuition centre group class is the cheapest format per hour in Dubai because the teacher's cost divides across the room, and that saving is real. It is the right purchase where the problem is practice volume and a student who works better with others present. For an Al Jaddaf family it fails for two reasons that are specific rather than general, and both are worth checking before paying for a term.

The first is the mixed room. A class advertised as IGCSE Mathematics may contain Cambridge Core candidates, Cambridge Extended candidates, Pearson Foundation and Pearson Higher candidates simultaneously, because centres draw from several schools. The content overlaps enough to make the class deliverable and differs enough to make it imprecise, and the highest-value interventions in maths are corrections caught as they happen, which a teacher managing eight students cannot deliver.

The second is the journey. Tuition centres cluster in commercial districts, so a class at 17:00 suits a student who finished school nearby and not an Al Jaddaf student arriving home from Nad Al Sheba at 17:15. Travel to the centre reinserts a journey that online delivery had already removed, and that is a cost in time and in attention rather than in money. It is also the usual reason a centre arrangement lapses by the middle of term.

The honest arithmetic is cost per usable minute rather than cost per hour. A cheap class the student reaches tired, in a mixed room, with no individual correction, may deliver fewer useful minutes than a shorter one-to-one session at a higher rate. Al Jaddaf's short commutes make the early one-to-one slot genuinely available, which is the district's main financial advantage and the one most families never use.

07

Claims and prices to discount before comparing

  • KHDA regulates schools; a rating judges the school and never a tutor
  • The MoHRE permit is free for two years, so permit cost cannot justify a rate
  • Treat an unevidenced star rating or statistic as decoration when comparing prices
  • No fine schedule is published, so any quoted fine figure is unverified

Part of what gets quoted in this market is a claim rather than a capability. Dubai's private schools are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, described on u.ae as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. A KHDA inspection rating judges a school and does not transfer to any tutor. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge or Pearson, and a KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific authorisation for training institutes with premises and staff that we do not hold.

The permit is the one claim that is checkable and free. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Applications go through MoHRE's own Private Tutor Licensing service, listed with no fee and a two-working-day completion time. A provider citing permit costs to justify a rate is citing a cost that does not exist.

Discount self-asserted ratings when comparing prices. Competitors in this market publish star ratings and review counts that contradict each other on the same page, and one shows a figure in its structured data that differs from the one a reader sees. A rating with no countable, attributable, dated reviews behind it should be treated as decoration. The same applies to any statistic quoted without a sample size, a date and a method, and to examiner claims that cannot be evidenced.

Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published; a figure circulating in this market could not be verified against any official source, and the ministry was reported as not having specified amounts or detailed penalties. So no amount appears here, and a provider quoting one to you has told you something useful about their other figures.

08

Getting started, and the stopping rule

  • Send board, code, tier, 0606 status and two workable evening windows
  • Agree the block length and the finish line before the first paid session
  • At the next school assessment, ask whether a named mark moved
  • We will recommend the cheaper tier where the job genuinely fits it

Send the board, the specification code, the tier, whether 0606 is being taken, and two evening windows that genuinely work from Al Jaddaf after the school run. We match a specification specialist and run one free trial lesson in the slot you intend to keep. One trial per student, nothing charged beforehand, no card details needed to book it, and the tutor writes a short note on what the diagnostic showed.

Then agree the stopping rule before the first paid session, because that is the single discipline that keeps this budget honest. A block of six to eight sessions, a named target, and a school assessment as the finish line. At that assessment, the question is whether the targeted error moved and what evidence shows it. If the answer names a mark, there is a case for continuing while there is more to gain. If the answer is general improvement in confidence, the block ends.

We will also recommend a cheaper tier where it fits, which is worth stating because few providers do. For reverse percentage corrections, recall discipline and Core homework support, budget online tutoring at AED 33 to AED 65 is genuinely adequate and buying a specialist would be reassurance rather than teaching. The specialist tier earns its rate on 0606 calculus, on a scarce specification, and on compressed pre-series work where experience of what moves marks quickly has real value.

Two limits, because the stopping rule above only works if the destination is honest. The sourced equivalency threshold on the British track is lower than most Al Jaddaf parents assume: five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education, plus one Advanced Level at E or two Advanced Subsidiary Levels. A student aiming at grade 7 in mathematics is working well above that floor, and nothing on this page implies tutoring is required for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency, for university admission or for school progression - verify your own case with the Ministry rather than with us. The second limit is simpler: nobody can promise a grade, and this page does not.

Where we tutor

Al Jaddaf and the cost of a late hour

The same rate buys different amounts of usable attention depending on the commute, which makes the school cluster a budgeting fact. These are the districts we schedule around.

Al Jaddaf

Towers beside Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2, with Swiss International Scientific School Dubai inside the district. The shortest journeys here, so a 16:30 maths start is achievable and each paid hour delivers more usable minutes.

Culture Village

Jaddaf Waterfront next door, sharing roads and school destinations. Cost behaviour matches Al Jaddaf exactly, and the two districts are effectively one scheduling area.

Dubai Creek Harbour

Across the water with no school inside the community, so pupils commute further and arrive home later. The same hourly rate therefore buys a less productive hour, which argues for weekend scheduling.

Business Bay and Downtown Dubai

Minutes along the Creek with no large private secondary school in either district. Tuition centres cluster in commercial areas like these, so a cheap group class is often nowhere near the school.

Sobha Hartland and Mohammed Bin Rashid City

Hartland International School and North London Collegiate School Dubai sit a short run south. The school-run hour on Al Khail Road makes 17:00 the honest earliest start and reduces what the hour achieves.

Nad Al Sheba and Meydan

Repton School Dubai, Kent College Dubai and GEMS Modern Academy. The longest routine commute from Al Jaddaf, where a weekend morning is the cheapest hour available in real terms.

Dubai Festival City

Deira International School and Universal American School Dubai across the Creek. Close enough for a productive 16:45 session, with a single crossing as the only risk to the slot.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Jaddaf

Al Jaddaf and across the Creek

Swiss International Scientific School Dubai sits inside Al Jaddaf, with further provision in Dubai Festival City across the water. The shortest commutes in this part of Dubai, which matters financially because an earlier maths session produces more correct work for the same money.

  • Deira International School
  • Universal American School Dubai
  • Dubai English Speaking College

Al Khail Road south

Sobha Hartland, Meydan and Nad Al Sheba, where British-curriculum IGCSE provision is strong. Al Jaddaf families enrolled here pay the same rate for a later and less productive hour, which is a reason to move demanding maths work to a weekend rather than to buy more hours.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Put tutoring beside the rest of the spend

School fees in Dubai are not rising for 2026-27, which KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026. Against a flat fee, a tutoring line that grows every term deserves a stated reason. Writing the whole education line down once is uncomfortable and clarifying in equal measure.

  2. 02

Buy one diagnostic before any block

A timed paper on the exact code and tier, marked against the published scheme question by question. It distinguishes a set of correctable errors, which a short block fixes, from an algebraic fluency gap, which needs weeks. Those two situations should not be bought the same way.

  3. 03

Ask the department about tier in Year 10

Which tier are they planning, and what evidence would change it. Both answers are free. If they name specific topics, that is your spending target and a block is enough. If they name general confidence, the problem is slower and more expensive and worth knowing a year early.

  4. 04

Set the resit rule before the June series

Agree in advance what result would trigger a November resit and in which subject. It converts a panicked August into an executed plan, lets the autumn block be booked while slots exist, and prevents resitting a grade that was already sufficient.

  5. 05

Use the early slot Al Jaddaf allows

The district's short commutes often make 16:30 workable, and maths produces more correct work in that hour than at 18:30 for the same rate. If the school is further out, move demanding work to a weekend morning rather than buying more weekday hours.

  6. 06

Stop at the assessment unless a mark moved

At the school's next assessment, ask what the targeted error was and what evidence shows it shifted. A named mark justifies continuing. General improvement in confidence does not, and renewing against it is how this budget grows without anyone choosing.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Priced in context, not in isolation

Tutoring is usually compared with other tutoring. We price it against school fees, exam entry and the resit, because that is how the decision feels when the invoice arrives, and because Dubai fees being flat for 2026-27 makes a rising tutoring line a fair question.

Interventions ranked by return

Reverse percentages, scale factors and claimable method are corrections that recur in every paper and cost almost nothing to fix. Algebraic fluency and 0606 calculus genuinely need weeks. Knowing which situation you are in costs one diagnostic session.

A stopping rule, agreed up front

Six to eight sessions, a named target and a school assessment as the finish line. A block without an endpoint renews by default, and a renewal nobody evaluated is a renewal nobody can justify. This is where most of the waste in this market lives.

We recommend the cheaper tier where it fits

Budget online tutoring at AED 33 to AED 65 is genuinely adequate for recall discipline and Core homework, and buying a specialist for that is reassurance rather than teaching. Saying so is the only thing that makes the expensive recommendation credible.

Every figure sourced and dated

Each AED number here names the provider that published it and the month it was read. No IB Gram hourly rate appears, because the right figure depends on code, tier and series proximity and one printed number would be wrong for most readers.

Right about the series, and about the rules

UAE candidates sit June and November; the February and March Cambridge series is India-only. The MoHRE permit is free. KHDA does not approve tutors. Each of those is a place where acting on the market's received wisdom costs a family money.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Jaddaf: your questions answered

How should I judge whether an IGCSE maths tutoring budget is reasonable?+

Against the rest of your education spend rather than against other tutoring quotes. Dubai private school fees are not increasing for the 2026-27 academic year, which KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026, so a tutoring line that grows every term deserves a stated reason. Published monthly bands, per subject, run roughly AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget tier, AED 600 to AED 1,200 mid, and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Those are Bestimate's estimates for a weekly one-hour session.

Which maths fixes give the most improvement for the least money?+

Corrections, because the same error costs marks on every paper. Reverse percentage at Core and Foundation tier leads: the student multiplies where they should divide, and twenty minutes removes it permanently. Area and volume scale factors applied linearly instead of being squared or cubed come second, recurring across mensuration, similarity and ratio. Histograms with unequal class widths read as frequency rather than frequency density come third. At the top tiers, writing claimable method is the highest-return habit available.

Why is writing out the method worth a fortnight of practice?+

Because it is where Extended and Higher tier marks disappear. A student reaches a correct answer in three lines where the published scheme awards marks across five, and forfeits two on a question they fully understood. In the reverse case, an early arithmetic slip with no working written down rescues nothing, when method marks would have been available. The instruction is simple and the habit takes about two weeks to embed: write the line you were about to do in your head.

Is the tier my child is entered for a financial decision as well as an academic one?+

Yes, and it is made a year before the money is spent. Cambridge Core and Pearson Foundation carry a grade ceiling that performance cannot exceed. The lower tier is cheaper to prepare for and the cost arrives later, because A Level Mathematics, Physics and Economics and IB Higher Level sciences assume the Extended or Higher content. Reopening a closed route means buying bridging support at post-16 rates, which are higher in every band. Ask the department which tier they plan and what evidence would change it.

What does a November maths resit actually cost a family?+

Three things at once, which is why it hurts. An entry fee made through the school's exam office shortly after June results. A compressed block of intensive tuition in the autumn, bought when demand across Dubai peaks and specialist availability is thinnest. And a results date in the new year rather than August: Pearson's November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Agreeing in advance what June result triggers a resit converts the surprise into a line you have already priced.

Does a November resit clash with starting A Level or IB maths?+

Directly, and families rarely plan for it. A November entry means the autumn term contains both resit preparation and the opening weeks of a post-16 maths course, and the two compete for the same evenings. The post-16 course has the longer-term consequences, so a resit plan that ignores the collision buys hours into a week with no room for them. If both are unavoidable, the honest answer is fewer, better-placed sessions rather than more of them.

Why does Additional Mathematics support cost more than 0580 support?+

Supply rather than difficulty. 0606 is taken by a minority of IGCSE students, so within any single Dubai district the number of tutors who have taught it through to a June series is small and the rate reflects that scarcity. The offsetting value is forward-looking: a student who has done 0606 meets almost nothing new in the first term of A Level Mathematics or IB Analysis and Approaches, where support is bought at higher post-16 rates. It is worth the premium only if post-16 plans point that way.

Is a tuition centre group class better value for IGCSE maths?+

Per hour, yes, because the teacher's cost divides across the room, and it genuinely suits a student whose problem is practice volume. It fails on two specifics. A class advertised as IGCSE Mathematics may hold Cambridge Core, Cambridge Extended, Pearson Foundation and Pearson Higher candidates at once, and a teacher managing eight cannot deliver the corrections that move maths marks. And centres cluster in commercial districts, which reinserts a journey online delivery had removed. Compare cost per usable minute, not per hour.

Does an earlier session really produce better value in maths specifically?+

Yes, and the reason is working memory rather than general tiredness. A multi-step algebraic rearrangement requires holding intermediate states while applying a rule to one of them, and an error at step two is invisible until step five. A long school day degrades exactly that capability. Al Jaddaf's short commutes often allow a 16:30 start, which is unusual in Dubai. The real unit price of an hour is the rate divided by the fraction of it that works, so an earlier slot is cheaper at the same rate.

How do I know when to stop paying for maths tutoring?+

Agree the stopping rule before the first paid session: a block of six to eight sessions, a named target, and the school's next assessment as the finish line. At that assessment, ask what the targeted error was and what evidence shows it moved. A named mark justifies continuing while there is more to gain. General improvement in confidence does not, and renewing against it is exactly how a tutoring line grows without anybody choosing that it should.

Is a budget online tutor ever the right answer for maths?+

For a defined set of jobs, yes, and we will say so. Budget online tutoring in Dubai is advertised from AED 33 to AED 52 by Tutopiya and AED 45 to AED 65 by EdFlik, usually meaning someone who sat the subject recently. For reverse percentage corrections, recall discipline and Core or Foundation homework support, that is adequate and paying four times more buys reassurance. For 0606 calculus, Higher tier algebraic fluency or scheme-level marking, it is not, and the limit is specificity rather than ability.

Should we plan around a February or March maths exam in Dubai?+

No, and budgeting intensive tuition towards one would waste a term. Cambridge's February and March series is offered in India only; UAE candidates sit the June and November series. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. Several pages written for Gulf parents quote a February or March window with an Indian entry deadline. A family paying for revision ahead of an exam their school cannot enter them for has found a reason to check everything else that provider said.

Can a provider charge more because of UAE tutoring permit costs?+

No, because there are none. The MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own Private Tutor Licensing service lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. A provider citing permit cost as a reason for a higher rate is charging you for something that does not exist.

Should a tutoring company's star rating affect which price I accept?+

Only where the reviews behind it are countable, attributable and dated. Competitors in this market publish ratings and review counts that contradict each other on the same page, and one shows a figure in its structured data differing from what a reader sees. Treat an unevidenced rating as decoration when comparing prices. The same applies to any statistic quoted without a sample size, a date and a method, and to examiner claims whose current status cannot be shown.

What are the hidden costs in an IGCSE maths tutoring arrangement?+

Four that routinely go unasked. Whether the quote is per hour or per lesson, since a fifty-minute lesson billed as an hour is a twenty per cent increase hidden in a definition. Whether VAT is included in the figure you were given. What the cancellation notice window is, because a slot that cannot be resold is normally charged. And whether a monthly package expires, since a month containing a school holiday can quietly turn eight sessions into six. Ask all four before the first invoice.
