IGCSE Home Tutor in Motor City

The useful question for a family wanting an IGCSE home tutor in Motor City is not who is nearest but when. Entry deadlines close months before papers are sat, tier decisions close earlier still, mocks fall in the winter, Ramadan reshapes the spring, and a November resit result does not arrive until January. This page lays all of that out as a calendar with the published dates. Teaching is one-to-one over live video; IB Gram makes no UAE home visits.

  • Entry and tier deadlines shown relative to the examination window
  • Ramadan scheduling treated as a planning input, not an afterthought

IB & IGCSE in Motor City

Everything that matters in an IGCSE closes before the exam does

Motor City is built around the Dubai Autodrome, with GEMS Metropole School inside the community running a British curriculum through IGCSE and on to sixth form. That means most families here are on the IGCSE route and most of them will go looking for help at some point in Year 11. The thing worth knowing before that happens is that the decisions which actually bound a result have already been made by then.

Three dates close the options. The tier of entry on Cambridge subjects, decided by the school on internal evidence and capping the grade that can be awarded. The final entry deadline, which the examination centre works to on the board's schedule and which falls months before the first paper. And the Year 9 option choices, which decide whether separate sciences and a second language are on the list at all. None of those can be revisited in the spring of Year 11, which is when the search for a tutor usually starts.

What can still be changed in Year 11 is substantial, and worth being precise about: examination technique, timing on the long papers, procedural habits like showing method and rounding once at the end, recall content, and the alternative-to-practical skill set in the sciences. Those are real gains and a short block buys them. What cannot be changed is the ceiling, the subject list or the board. Knowing which list you are on when you pick up the phone is the difference between a plan and a hope, and it is the reason this page leads with dates instead of subjects.

This page sets the two IGCSE years out as a calendar with the published dates attached. Cambridge International runs IGCSE in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October, and the February/March series offered to India only. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson also publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, which is the practical reason to open the live official timetable rather than trust a date restated on any third-party page, this one included.

It also covers the part of a Dubai academic year that no competitor page addresses: how Ramadan sits against the spring revision window, and what kind of work fits a shortened school day and a post-Iftar evening. Teaching is delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with no home visits anywhere in the UAE, and sessions move to post-Iftar timing on request at no extra cost.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three stages of the British route generate almost every enquiry from Motor City, and each has a different relationship to the calendar. Only the third has externally fixed dates.

Year 9Ages 13-14 · Year 9

Options and the subject list

No examinations, and the stage where the IGCSE subject list is fixed. Separate sciences against a combined award, whether a second language takes a slot, whether Additional Mathematics is worth adding. The decisions are made in the spring term and they determine what is available at sixteen, which makes this the highest-leverage term in the whole route.

At GEMS Metropole School and the other British-curriculum schools serving Motor City, set placement in Year 8 often drives the Year 9 option outcome. A family whose child had one weak term can find separate sciences closed by it, so producing contrary evidence belongs in Year 9 rather than Year 11 when nothing can change.

Year 10Ages 14-15 · Year 10

The first IGCSE year

Content begins in earnest and the tier decision gets made, usually on internal assessment evidence across the year. This is the year in which a Core entry becomes a Core entry, so it is the year in which a family wanting Extended has to produce marked evidence at that standard. No external examinations unless the school enters early for a subject.

UK curricula account for 37% of Dubai private-school enrolment across 227 schools and 387,441 students, so Year 10 cohorts here are large and tutoring supply for mainstream subjects is deep. The constraint in Motor City is not availability of tutors but availability of the 18:00 slot, which fills first across this corridor.

Year 11Ages 15-16 · Year 11

The examination year

Entry deadlines, mock examinations in the winter, the zone timetable published ahead of the series, and the papers themselves in June for most Dubai candidates. There is no coursework on most entries, so the grade is a weighted paper total and the work that moves it is technique, timing, recall and procedural reliability rather than new content.

The Dubai spring term is where the plan usually breaks, because mocks, internal deadlines and Ramadan can land close together. Front-loading full timed papers before the Ramadan weeks, and using short post-Iftar sessions for recall and review, is what keeps a Year 11 programme intact through that period.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE subjects most requested from the Motor City area, each with a note on when in the two years the work is best done. The timing matters as much as the content at this stage.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580)

Core and Extended

Fluency work belongs in Year 10, because manipulation speed is built by frequency over months. Year 11 work is timed papers and rounding discipline. Extended Paper 4 is the long paper where time runs out, and that is a Year 11 problem with a Year 11 fix.

Physics (Cambridge 0625)

Core and Extended

Electricity and electromagnetism need teaching when the school covers them, not in May. The alternative-to-practical paper is a spring-term block of four sessions and is routinely the last thing a school revision programme reaches.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620)

Core and Extended

Moles arithmetic is a Year 10 job. Qualitative analysis is recall and belongs in a programme running from the spring term onward, tested to blank recall rather than recognition, because recognition does not survive an examination hall.

Biology (Cambridge 0610)

Core and Extended

Content volume makes this the subject where falling behind in Year 10 compounds most. Definitions are credited against specific wording, so recall testing should run continuously from the spring rather than in a final push.

English First Language (Cambridge 0500)

Single tier

Timed practice moves this grade more than content teaching does, which makes it a Year 11 subject in tutoring terms. Reading responses must quote precisely and analyse effect, and that habit takes a term of marked practice to establish.

English as a Second Language (Cambridge 0510 and 0511)

Core and Extended

Comprehension depends on lifting the right phrase rather than paraphrasing, and the summary task has a strict word limit. Where speaking is separately assessed, preparation is almost always left too late in the year.

Economics (Cambridge 0455)

Single tier

Diagram marks are separately allocated, so diagram drill is cheap and effective at any point. The eight-mark evaluation at the end of a structured question is where the time budget runs out, which is a Year 11 timing fix.

Business Studies (Cambridge 0450)

Single tier

Application to the stimulus separates grades. Break-even and ratio arithmetic can be drilled in Year 10 and then maintained, and generic theory answers are the habit that most needs correcting before the mock.

Additional Mathematics (Cambridge 0606)

Single tier

Added at Year 9 options and best supported from the start of Year 10, because calculus and trigonometric identities arrive early. A student struggling here despite coping with 0580 is short on algebraic fluency rather than on understanding.

Computer Science (Cambridge 0478)

Single tier

Pseudocode conventions differ from Python and need practising in the board's own notation. Trace tables and number-base conversion are reliable marks that respond to short frequent practice across the spring term.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, all one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, each belonging to a different point in the two IGCSE years. Buying the Year 11 product in Year 9, or the reverse, is the usual waste.

Year 9 and Year 10 groundwork

A weekly slot while the content is arriving and the tier decision is still open. This is where fluency, method discipline and recall habits are cheapest to build, and where marked evidence at Extended standard can still change an entry. It also means the tutor knows the student before anything is urgent.

  • Fluency and method habits built while content is new
  • Marked Extended-standard evidence for the tier conversation
  • Half-termly written progress note
  • One subject at a time unless the reports say otherwise

Year 11 technique block

Six to ten sessions worked from past papers at the correct board and tier, with the published scheme read after every one. Session one reads the student's marked mock rather than teaching, because by Year 11 the content has usually been covered and the loss is in method presentation, rounding discipline and time management.

  • Starts from the marked mock, not the syllabus front page
  • A full timed paper every fortnight at the correct tier
  • Error log maintained across the whole block
  • Front-loaded where Ramadan falls before the series

November resit programme

For a candidate retaking after a June result, usually without a school timetable holding the structure. Built backwards from the centre's entry deadline, which falls well before the series. Twelve to twenty sessions is typical, because the student needs the schedule as much as the teaching.

  • Schedule built from the centre's entry deadline backwards
  • Full timed papers fortnightly under real conditions
  • Error log carried across the whole programme
  • Entry arranged by the family through school or an approved centre

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Motor City

01

The two IGCSE years, counted backwards from results day

A calendar counted forwards produces a revision timetable. A calendar counted backwards shows which decisions close and when, and that is the information that changes outcomes. For an IGCSE student the sequence of closures is Year 9 options, then the tier of entry, then the final entry deadline, then the zone timetable, then the papers. Each one narrows what is possible, and only the last two are visible to most families.

Year 9 closes the subject list. Separate sciences or a combined award, a second language or not, Additional Mathematics or not. That list determines what a sixth form can offer at sixteen, and it cannot be reopened in Year 11. Year 10 closes the tier, because schools decide entries on internal evidence gathered across that year, and a Core entry caps the awarded grade commonly at 5 on the 9-1 scale or C on the letter scale.

The final entry deadline falls months before the first paper and is handled by the examination centre to the board's schedule. By that point board, syllabus code and tier are fixed in writing for every subject. Mock examinations follow in the winter of Year 11 and are the single most useful piece of evidence a family will get, because a marked mock shows exactly which habits are costing marks.

Then the zone timetable, which is the administrative detail that catches families out. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, each with its own timetable version, states that it is essential to use the correct version for your zone, and notes that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong one. Ask the examinations officer which zone your centre is in before printing anything or booking travel.

Year 11 month by month, and what each stage should produce

Year 11 has a shape, and a plan that ignores it ends up doing the right work at the wrong time. Content completion belongs in the autumn. Mocks fall in the winter and should be treated as data rather than as a verdict. The spring is where technique, recall and the alternative-to-practical work belong. The final weeks are for full timed papers and the error log, not for new content.

The autumn job is coverage. Every subject should have been through its syllabus once by the winter, because a mock sat on partially taught content produces a misleading score and wastes the most useful diagnostic of the year. Where a school is behind in one subject, that is worth knowing in November rather than in March, and it is a reasonable thing to ask a head of department directly.

The winter job is reading the mocks properly. A marked mock is the best evidence a family will ever get, and most of it is discarded. What should come out of it is a list of habits rather than a list of weak topics: answering without working, rounding partway through, command-term mismatch, running out of time on the long paper. Each of those has a known cost to change, measured in two to six sessions, and naming them is what turns a mock score into a plan.

The spring job is execution, and it is where the Dubai calendar intervenes. Mocks, internal deadlines and the Ramadan weeks can land close together, so full-length timed paper practice has to start earlier than a plan written in September assumed. Recall programmes — the chemistry test tables, biology definitions, formulae not provided in the examination — fit well into short post-Iftar sessions, and content teaching does not. The final weeks then run on timed papers and residual errors only.

Results, remarks and the resit cycle with real dates

What happens after results day is the part of the calendar families are least prepared for, and it has published dates that can be planned around. On the Pearson Edexcel route, June 2026 International GCSE results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, so the live official timetable is the only version to plan around.

The first decision after a short grade is whether to query the mark. Enquiries about results, including remarks, are submitted by the school rather than by the family, and the windows are set by the awarding body and are short. If a grade sits one mark below a boundary and a sixth-form place depends on it, that conversation with the examinations officer needs to happen within days of results day, not weeks.

The second decision is whether to resit. UAE candidates resit in November on both the Cambridge and Pearson routes; the February/March series is offered to India only and is not available. The crucial practical point is that a November result reaches students in January, mid-academic-year. Before entering, get written confirmation from the receiving sixth form that a January grade satisfies their offer, because some will hold a place on that basis and some will not.

The third is the mechanics. A candidate who has left the school may need to enter as a private candidate through an approved examination centre, and the centre sets both the fee and the deadline, which falls well before the series. A resit revision programme should therefore be built backwards from that entry date rather than from the examination date. IB Gram is not an examination centre and cannot enter a candidate; the family arranges entry through a school or an approved centre.

Ramadan against the IGCSE spring term

The spring term of Year 11 is where a Dubai IGCSE plan most often comes apart, and the reason is that three things compete for the same weeks: mock follow-up, the final content push, and the Ramadan period. Almost no tutoring page in this market mentions the third, which is strange given that it reshapes both the school day and the family evening in the run-up to a summer series.

What changes in practice is the shape of the day rather than the amount of work possible. School hours shorten. Afternoon concentration is lower. The productive window for focused study moves to after Iftar. For a Year 11 student that collides with precisely the period when full-length timed paper practice should be at its most intense, because a three-hour paper at four in the afternoon is not a realistic proposition and a three-hour paper at ten at night is not much better.

The planning response has two halves. Front-load the long papers: if Ramadan falls before the series, full timed papers should start earlier in the spring than a September plan would have assumed, so that several have been sat before the period begins. And change the work rather than pausing it: short post-Iftar sessions between 20:30 and 22:00 are well suited to recall testing, reviewing a paper the student sat earlier, and marking work against a scheme. New content and long papers belong either side.

Recall work in particular fits this window unusually well. Chemistry qualitative analysis tables, biology definitions credited against specific wording, physics formulae not provided in the examination — all of it is short, repetitive and does not require sustained concentration. A student who uses the Ramadan weeks to take those three things from recognition to blank recall arrives at the series with a block of marks secured, which is a better use of the period than a frustrated attempt to carry on as normal.

What support costs across the two years, by stage

Pricing an IGCSE by the hour hides the decision that matters, which is when to spend. The need is uneven: groundwork in Year 10 is cheap and high-leverage, the post-mock window in Year 11 is the single most productive block available, and a resit programme is the most expensive because the student has no school timetable holding the structure.

The published Dubai bands, read in October 2026: Tutopiya from AED 33-52 an hour and EdFlik from AED 45-65 at the entry level; Unitors IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200; Bestimate's 2026 rate table at AED 150-300 for qualified online subject tutors, AED 180-350 for in-home one-to-one and AED 200-450 or above for IGCSE and IB specialists, with independent home tutors reaching AED 500 once travel is included; TutorChase at AED 270; BartyED at AED 650 at the premium end.

Set against the stages, the arithmetic in the table below exposes the real choice. A family with a fixed budget almost always does better spreading it across Year 10 groundwork and the post-mock block than concentrating all of it in May, because May can only buy technique and timing while Year 10 can still buy fluency and a tier.

Monthly, Bestimate's estimates for one weekly hour run roughly AED 240-600 at the budget end, AED 600-1,200 mid-market and AED 1,000-2,000 or above for exam-year specialist support, and published packages in this market include around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. IB Gram publishes no fixed rate here because subject, tier and urgency move it. For context, KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that Dubai private school fees would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within an AED 2.5 billion total.

Scheduling a Motor City week, and the format that allows it

Motor City has an advantage most of this corridor does not: GEMS Metropole School is inside the community, so IGCSE students here have a short school run and are home early. A 16:30 session start is realistic, which matters for a fluency programme because short early sessions work better than long late ones. Families driving back from Dubai Hills, Arabian Ranches or the wider Dubailand schools generally want 17:30 or later.

That earlier availability makes short frequent sessions practical, which is the right shape for most of the work this page describes. Three 45-minute mathematics sessions a fortnight beats one long weekly hour for manipulation speed. Daily recall testing with weekly marking beats a single revision session. Four alternative-to-practical sessions in a fortnight beats four spread over two months.

A visiting tutor cannot deliver that shape. Forty to sixty minutes of travel each way in term traffic means a two-hour minimum booking to justify the journey, and a latest workable start of roughly 18:30. The published premium for the visit is AED 30-150 an hour over the equivalent online band, and what it buys is presence rather than teaching time.

Presence is nonetheless the right purchase for some students, and it is worth saying so plainly: a younger child who cannot self-manage a screen, or a student whose written method needs correcting as it is produced. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE — that is an India-only service — so the comparison below is here to inform a decision rather than to argue a family out of one.

Equivalency timing, and the claims nobody should make

  • Five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3
  • Arabic and Islamic education sit outside that count of five
  • A competitor page says six; the published figure is five
  • Tutoring is not a requirement for equivalency or admission
  • No regulator or awarding-body approval claimed, no examination-centre status

There is a documentary calendar alongside the academic one, and for a family planning on a UAE university it is worth reading in Year 10 rather than discovering in Year 12. Ministry of Education equivalency is the recognition of a foreign secondary certificate, required for admission to UAE institutions and for some employment routes, and the British-track rules are published and specific.

A student must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and Arabic and Islamic education are not included among those five. They must additionally show one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. One competitor page ranking for UAE searches states that six IGCSE subjects are required; the published figure is five, and planning around six over-subscribes a child by a subject's worth of attention.

For the American track, English proficiency requires a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section, and mathematics requires at least 450 in SAT Math before applying. Two boundaries apply throughout: IB Gram does not perform, submit or guarantee equivalency — it is a Ministry process handled with the Ministry or the emirate's attestation authority — and tutoring is not a requirement for equivalency, admission or progression.

And the claims we do not make. Dubai's private schools are overseen by KHDA, described on u.ae as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate, with ADEK covering Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, SPEA covering Sharjah, the Department of Knowledge covering Ras Al Khaimah, and the federal Ministry of Education covering Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licensing or partnership from any of them, nor from Cambridge or Pearson, holds no KHDA Educational Services Permit, is not an examination centre and has no UAE office. Private tutoring is regulated: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, covers teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18 and university students, and individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws — no fine schedule is published, so no amount appears here.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Motor City

IGCSE students joining from Motor City study alongside families across the Dubailand corridor. These notes cover which school each community feeds and how the commute affects when a session can start.

Motor City

GEMS Metropole School sits inside the community and runs the British curriculum through IGCSE, so school runs here are short and 16:30 starts are workable for Year 10 and 11 students.

Dubai Sports City

Victory Heights Primary School and Bradenton Preparatory Academy are inside the development, both primary-weighted, so enquiries from here are mostly Key Stage 3 groundwork.

Arabian Ranches

Ranches Primary School and JESS Arabian Ranches serve this cluster. Families planning a Diploma destination after Year 11 ask about separate sciences earlier than most.

Arabian Ranches 2

Newer phases with a younger profile, so Year 9 options questions dominate and the usual request is help deciding rather than help with content.

Arabian Ranches 3

The most recently handed-over phase. Longer school runs push realistic starts to 17:30, which makes recorded sessions more useful for review the following day.

Dubai Hills Estate

GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail and Kings' School Dubai draw heavily from here, generating steady demand for 0580 Extended and the three separate sciences.

DAMAC Hills

Served by schools in the surrounding corridor rather than inside the community, so the 18:00 and 19:00 slots are the busiest from this postcode.

Remraam and Mudon

Close to South View School and the Dubailand belt. English as a Second Language and mathematics are the two subjects most requested from these communities.

Town Square

Young population and long school runs. Sessions land at 18:00 or later, and term-time booking matters because later slots fill first across the corridor.

The Sustainable City

Fairgreen International School runs the IB continuum, so families here are generally comparing the MYP route against IGCSE rather than taking IGCSE itself.

  3. 03

    Free diagnostic lesson

A full session at no charge spent on the student's own marked work. The output is a list of habits with a session count against each — answering without working, rounding partway, command-term mismatch, running out of time — rather than a list of weak topics.

  4. 04

Place the work where the calendar allows it

Fluency in Year 10. Technique straight after the mocks. The alternative-to-practical block before Ramadan. Recall testing through the Ramadan weeks in short post-Iftar sessions. Full timed papers front-loaded if the period falls before the series.

  5. 05

Review against the next real paper

Progress is judged on the school's next marked assessment rather than on our exercises. If the habits named in the diagnosis are still appearing, either the work between sessions is not happening or the diagnosis was wrong, and both are better established early than in May.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The calendar quoted, not paraphrased

Cambridge runs June and November with the February/March series offered to India only. Pearson November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026 and June 2026 results on 20 August 2026. Those are the awarding bodies' own published positions, and we link the live timetable rather than restating dates that can change.

Closures named before they happen

Year 9 closes the subject list, Year 10 closes the tier, and the entry deadline closes the board and code. We say which of those are still open at the point you contact us, which is the difference between a plan and a hope.

Ramadan built into the plan

Shortened school days and post-Iftar evenings change what work fits, and the period often falls just before a summer series. Front-load the long papers, use short late sessions for recall and review, and arrange post-Iftar timing at the start of term rather than mid-period.

The mock treated as the key data point

A marked mock is the best evidence a family will get and most of it is discarded. We read the scripts and produce a list of habits with session counts attached, because that is what converts a score into something actionable.

Spending shown by stage

Year 10 groundwork can still buy fluency and a tier; May can only buy technique and timing. Pricing by stage makes that visible, and a fixed budget spread across both usually beats the same money spent entirely at the end.

The resit route stated accurately

November is the UAE resit series, a result reaches students in January, and entry goes through your school or an approved centre rather than through us. We tell you to get the receiving school's acceptance of a January grade in writing before entering.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Motor City: your questions answered

Will an IGCSE tutor come to our villa in Motor City?+

Independent tutors and agencies in Dubai do offer it, at AED 180-350 an hour on Bestimate's 2026 rate table and up to about AED 500 for independent home tutors with travel included. IB Gram does not, anywhere in the UAE. For a Motor City family the online format also allows a session shape that a visiting tutor cannot: 16:30 starts for a GEMS Metropole student with a short school run, 45-minute lengths, three short sessions a fortnight for fluency work, and post-Iftar slots during Ramadan.

When does the IGCSE entry deadline actually fall?+

Months before the first paper, and it is handled by the examination centre to the awarding body's schedule rather than by the family. By that date the board, the syllabus code and the tier of entry are fixed in writing for every subject, which is why the tier conversation belongs in Year 10 and not in the spring of Year 11. Ask the examinations officer for the centre's own internal deadline, which is usually earlier than the board's, because that is the date your family actually has to meet.

What should a Year 11 student be doing in each part of the year?+

Autumn is coverage: every subject through its syllabus once before the mock, because a mock sat on partly taught content produces a misleading score. Winter is reading the marked mocks and turning them into a list of habits. Early spring is technique drill, the alternative-to-practical block and starting a recall programme. The Ramadan weeks suit short post-Iftar review and recall. Late spring is full timed papers and the error log. The final fortnight is residual errors only, never new topics.

How should a Dubai family plan revision around Ramadan?+

Front-load and change the work rather than trying to continue unchanged. School hours shorten, afternoon concentration drops and the productive window moves to after Iftar, which collides with the period when full-length timed paper practice should be heaviest. So sit several long papers before the period begins, and use short post-Iftar sessions between 20:30 and 22:00 for recall testing, review and marking work against a scheme. Recall content in particular — chemistry test tables, biology definitions, unprovided physics formulae — fits those weeks very well.

If a grade comes back one mark short, what happens next?+

Move quickly, because the windows are short and the school has to act, not you. Enquiries about results, including remarks, are submitted by the centre to the awarding body within a board-set window measured in weeks rather than months. If a sixth-form place depends on a boundary mark, that conversation with the examinations officer belongs in the days immediately after results day. Pearson's June 2026 results reached students on 20 August 2026, which gives a sense of how little time sits between results and the start of a new year.

Is a November resit worth it if the result arrives in January?+

It depends entirely on what the grade is needed for. For a Ministry of Education equivalency file a January result is usually fine. For a sixth-form place it may not be, because the academic year is already underway: Pearson's November 2025 International GCSE results reached students on 22 January 2026. So the step before entering is written confirmation from the receiving school that a January grade satisfies their offer and that the place will be held. Some will, some will not, and the answer changes the decision entirely.

Can my child sit the February or March IGCSE series from Dubai?+

No. Cambridge's February/March series is offered to India only, so no UAE candidate sits it, and a revision plan built around a March examination window is built on a date that does not apply to them. UAE candidates sit the June series and the November series. What does run in March, May and October are Cambridge Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests, which are a different assessment entirely and are sometimes what has been half-remembered from a search result.

What is the Cambridge zone timetable and how do we check ours?+

Cambridge allocates every examination centre to one of six administrative zones, each with its own version of the timetable. Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version for your zone and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. Your examinations officer knows which zone your centre is in, and it is worth asking before you print a timetable or book any travel, because a date from another zone's version can be out by a day or more.

How early should we start tutoring for IGCSE?+

Year 10 if the aim is to change a grade, and Year 9 if the aim is to change the subject list. Fluency, method discipline and recall habits are built by frequency over months, which makes Year 10 the cheapest and most effective window, and it is also the year in which marked Extended-standard evidence can still influence a tier decision. Starting in the spring of Year 11 is a legitimate purchase but it buys a narrower set of things: technique, timing, recall and residual content, with the ceiling and the subject list already fixed.

What does a term of IGCSE support cost in Motor City?+

At published Dubai bands, twelve weekly sessions over a term comes to roughly AED 1,800-3,600 at the AED 150-300 qualified band or AED 2,400-5,400 at the AED 200-450 specialist band. A post-mock block of eight sessions is AED 1,200-3,600, and a four-session alternative-to-practical block AED 600-1,800. Those are other providers' published figures read in October 2026. The more useful question is which stage to spend at, because Year 10 can still buy fluency and a tier while May can only buy technique.

Can one tutor handle two subjects for a Year 11 student?+

Often, and it is worth testing rather than assuming. Many specialists cover two related subjects to a high standard — two sciences, or mathematics and physics — and where they genuinely do, continuity improves and the student spends less time re-explaining context. Few cover three at Extended level with equal command of the mark schemes. Ask directly which syllabus codes a tutor has taught and which they have marked, and treat a general claim about being good at science or maths as a no rather than a yes.

Does GEMS Metropole School being in Motor City change the scheduling?+

Yes, favourably. A short school run means students are home early and a 16:30 session start is realistic, which suits fluency and recall work because short early sessions are more productive than long late ones. That also makes three 45-minute sessions a fortnight practical, which is the right shape for manipulation speed in mathematics. Families driving back from Dubai Hills, Arabian Ranches or the wider Dubailand schools generally need 17:30 or later, and the later slots across this corridor fill first.

How many IGCSE subjects does a UAE university route actually need?+

Five on the Ministry of Education British track, not six. The published rule is five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus one A-Level at no less than E or two AS-Levels at the same grade. A competitor page ranking for UAE searches states six, which over-subscribes a child by a subject. Sixth-form entry adds its own thresholds, usually grade 6 or 7 in each subject to be continued, and those are often the binding constraint.

Can you enter my child for a resit if the school will not?+

No. IB Gram is a tutoring service, not an examination centre, and we hold no approval, accreditation or partnership from Cambridge, Pearson, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education or MoHRE. Entries are made by a school or by an approved private-candidate centre, which sets its own fees and deadlines, and those deadlines fall well before the series. We will help build the revision programme backwards from whatever entry date the centre gives you, but the entry itself has to be arranged by the family.

Find out what is still open before you buy anything

An IGCSE is decided by a sequence of closures. Year 9 fixes the subject list. Year 10 fixes the tier and the grade ceiling. The entry deadline fixes the board and the code months before a paper is sat. After that, what remains movable is technique, timing, habits and recall — real gains, but a narrower set than a family in the spring of Year 11 usually imagines. Ask the examinations officer for the codes, the tiers, the centre's entry deadline and your Cambridge zone, send a marked mock, and take the free diagnostic lesson while the answer still has options in it.
