IB Tutor near me in Jumeirah 3

Parents searching for an IB tutor near me in Jumeirah 3 are usually three weeks from a deadline and looking at a mark they cannot explain. This page answers the subject question instead of the postcode question: what each Diploma group actually assesses, which command terms carry the marks, and how past papers are worked so a score moves. Lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, which is how a Jumeirah 3 student gets a Paper 3 specialist rather than the nearest available generalist.

  • Matched by subject and level, not by driving distance
  • Lessons on Gulf Standard Time, evenings after the school run
  • A free trial lesson before any payment is taken
  • Student's own past-paper scripts marked against the published criteria

IB & IGCSE in Jumeirah 3

Proximity is the wrong filter for a Diploma subject

When a Jumeirah 3 parent types "IB tutor near me" into Google, the search engine answers a question about geography. The problem on the table is almost never geographic. A Diploma student losing marks in Chemistry Paper 2 is losing them on a specific command term, on a specific sub-topic, in a specific question style that the published mark scheme rewards in a specific way. The tutor who fixes that is the one who has marked forty of those scripts, not the one who lives eleven minutes away on Al Wasl Road.

That is why this page is built around subject content rather than around a map. Below you will find what each of the six Diploma groups assesses, which papers carry which weighting, the command terms that decide whether a correct idea earns a mark, and the way a past paper has to be worked for the exercise to be worth the two hours it costs. Those are the things a parent can judge a tutor against before the first invoice.

Jumeirah 3 sits between two heavy school catchments. Families on this stretch send children north towards Jumeirah 1 and Al Safa, west towards Umm Suqeim and Al Sufouh, and inland towards Al Barsha and Al Quoz. The result is that two neighbours on the same street can be sitting completely different syllabus combinations: one on a full IB continuum from Primary Years through to Diploma, the other switching into DP1 from a British Year 11 and meeting Theory of Knowledge for the first time at sixteen. A single local tutor cannot credibly cover both.

IB Gram works the other way round. The subject requirement is taken first, a tutor who teaches that component at that level is matched to it, and the lesson runs over live video at a time that fits the Jumeirah school run. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai; in-home tutoring is a service offered only in India, and every country page on this site says the same thing. What a Jumeirah 3 family gets instead is a tutor chosen from the whole pool rather than from a twenty-minute radius, which matters most for the subjects a small radius never covers: Physics HL, Mathematics Analysis and Approaches HL, Economics HL and the language B options.

The rest of this page is deliberately technical. Dubai has no shortage of pages telling parents that tuition builds confidence. It has very few that name a paper, state its weighting, and explain where the marks go. The competitor pages ranking for this query average around 2,300 words and almost none of them print a single syllabus detail or a single dirham figure. Everything below is checkable against the published assessment documents or against a source that is named.

At a glance

  • Matching is done on subject, level and component - not on distance from Jumeirah 3
  • Lessons are one-to-one over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time
  • Command terms and mark-scheme wording are taught explicitly, not assumed
  • Past-paper work is marked against published criteria and returned annotated
  • A tutor reviews and teaches the student's own coursework; the student writes it

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The IB runs four programmes and Dubai schools licence them in different combinations. Knowing which one your child is actually on changes what tuition should be doing, because only one of the four ends in external examinations.

PYPAges 3-12 · Pre-KG to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary units of inquiry with no external examinations and no numerical grades in most schools. Assessment is teacher judgement against learner-profile attributes and conceptual understanding. Support at this stage is about literacy fluency, number sense and the written reflection habits that MYP criteria will later be marked against, rather than about test technique.

Several schools serving the Jumeirah 3 catchment run a full IB continuum, so a child can move from PYP into MYP without changing site. Dubai private schools must also deliver Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies alongside the licensed curriculum, and at primary age that is where most of the extra load sits for a non-Arabic-speaking family.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups, each marked against four criteria scored 0-8, with the Personal Project in the final year. Grades are generated from criterion totals rather than from percentages, which is why an MYP report can read strangely to a parent used to British percentage marks. Interdisciplinary units and service as action also carry assessment weight.

The MYP-to-Diploma step is the sharpest one in Dubai because MYP 5 students are not sitting external papers while their British-curriculum neighbours in Year 11 are sitting International GCSEs. Students arriving in DP1 from MYP are often strong on inquiry and weak on timed paper technique, and the first term of tuition usually goes on closing exactly that gap.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects across six groups, three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries internally assessed coursework worth roughly a fifth to a quarter of the grade, with the remainder examined externally in the May session that UAE schools enter.

This is where almost all Jumeirah 3 enquiries land. Dubai schools enter the May session, and the compression between the January mock window, the internal assessment deadlines set by the school, and the external papers is what drives the demand for one-to-one help on this stretch of coast between October and March.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

A smaller framework combining at least two Diploma courses with a career-related study, a reflective project, language development and personal and professional skills. The Diploma courses inside it are examined exactly as they are in the full Diploma, so tuition for those components is identical in content.

The Career-related Programme is licensed by only a handful of UAE schools, so Jumeirah 3 families on it usually need help with a named DP subject taken inside the CP frame plus the reflective project. The reflective project is the student's own work and is coached, never drafted.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the Diploma subjects Jumeirah 3 families ask for most often, with what each one actually assesses and where the marks tend to disappear. A tutor should be able to talk about the component, not just the subject.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Proof, calculus and algebraic fluency, with a non-calculator paper at both levels. Marks are lost on unjustified steps rather than on wrong answers: method marks require the working to be visible. The exploration is assessed against five criteria and is where presentation and personal engagement are most often underweighted.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics, modelling and technology-permitted problem solving throughout, with no non-calculator paper. Students who moved here from Analysis often lose marks by under-using the graphic display calculator when the question expects it. Interpretation sentences carry real marks and are regularly left blank.

Physics

HL and SL

Paper 1 is multiple choice plus data analysis, Paper 2 extended response. The scientific investigation is marked against four criteria. Marks go on unit and significant-figure handling, on uncertainty propagation, and on explanation questions where a student describes an effect instead of giving a mechanism.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Structure and reactivity taught together, with a data booklet supplied in the examination. Organic mechanisms and equilibrium reasoning are the two reliable mark sinks. Students who have memorised reactions without mechanisms stall at a predictable point in DP2, usually right after the mock.

Biology

HL and SL

Unity and diversity, form and function, interaction and interdependence, continuity and change. Extended-response marks depend on using the command term's demanded level of detail. A student who writes fluent prose but never names a named example loses marks they believe they have earned.

Economics

HL and SL

Microeconomics, macroeconomics and the global economy, with three portfolio commentaries internally assessed. Diagram accuracy is worth real marks and is the fastest thing to fix. Higher Level adds a policy paper that rewards quantitative reasoning many students have never practised.

Business Management

HL and SL

Business organisation, human resources, finance, marketing and operations, with a research project at Higher Level and a written commentary at Standard Level. Tool application is assessed, not tool recall: a student who can define a Boston matrix but not apply it to the case study scores in the middle band.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 guided textual analysis, Paper 2 comparative essay, plus the individual oral and, at Higher Level, the essay. The individual oral is where the global issue is most often stated too broadly, which caps the marks available for every criterion that follows.

Computer Science

HL and SL

System fundamentals, computer organisation, networks and computational thinking, with a developed solution internally assessed. Pseudocode accuracy in the written paper and documented testing in the solution are the two areas where otherwise capable programmers lose marks.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

The exhibition and the prescribed-title essay. Both are marked against a single holistic rubric, and the commonest failure is an essay that discusses knowledge in general rather than answering the prescribed title with specific, contrasting examples from two areas of knowledge.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three delivery shapes cover almost every Jumeirah 3 enquiry. All three are one-to-one over live video; what changes is the cadence and what the session is for.

Weekly subject tuition

One or two fixed slots a week on the same subject, running through a term. The tutor works a term ahead of the school's scheme of work so the lesson previews rather than repairs, and the student arrives at school already having met the topic once.

  • 60 or 90 minutes, same day and time each week
  • Tutor tracks the school's own scheme of work and deadlines
  • Homework set from past-paper questions on the current topic
  • Written note after each session naming what moved and what did not

Component repair before an examination

A short block aimed at one named component - a Physics Paper 1, an Economics data response, a Mathematics non-calculator paper - after a mock has shown where the marks are going. Diagnosis comes first, from the student's own script, before any teaching happens.

  • Starts from the marked mock script, not from a fresh diagnostic test
  • Six to ten sessions on one component
  • Timed sections under examination conditions with annotated feedback
  • Ends when the component is holding, not on a fixed package length

Coursework supervision

Scheduled checkpoints across an exploration, investigation, commentary or Extended Essay. The tutor teaches the criteria, questions the research question, reads drafts and gives feedback. The student writes every word and the school's own supervisor signs it off.

  • Criteria taught by letter, with the mark allocation stated
  • Research-question scoping before data collection begins
  • Feedback on the student's draft; no drafting or rewriting by the tutor
  • Timed against the school's internal deadlines, not the external ones

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Jumeirah 3

01

What a Jumeirah 3 search for an IB tutor is really asking

  • The literal answer: online one-to-one, Gulf Standard Time, matched by component
  • No tutor is sent to a Jumeirah 3 address; in-home visits are an India-only service
  • Market in-home rates carry a travel component you are paying for
  • Narrow Diploma components are exactly where a local radius fails

The short answer: it is asking for somebody who can teach a named Diploma component at a named level, and the IB Gram answer is a one-to-one online lesson on Gulf Standard Time with a tutor matched to that component. Distance from Jumeirah 3 does not appear in the matching decision, because it does not appear in the mark scheme either.

The reason the query is phrased geographically is historical. For a decade the only way to buy tutoring in Dubai was to find somebody who would drive to the villa, and the search habit has outlasted the constraint. The market still prices that way: in-home one-to-one visits in Dubai are quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour depending on level, and a meaningful share of that figure is travel rather than teaching. A family in Jumeirah 3 paying the upper end of that band is paying partly for a car on Al Wasl Road at 4pm.

There is also a supply problem that a radius search makes worse rather than better. Diploma subjects are narrow. A student who needs Physics HL Paper 3 technique, or Mathematics Analysis and Approaches HL calculus, or Economics HL policy questions, needs a tutor who teaches exactly that. In a twenty-minute radius around Jumeirah 3 the number of people who genuinely teach any one of those is small, and the shortlist shrinks further once you require a slot after 6pm on a weekday.

So the honest framing is this. The geographic search is a reasonable question that the market has trained parents to ask, and the right answer to it is to drop the geography and keep the standard. The sections that follow give you the standard: what each group assesses, what the command terms demand, how a past paper is worked, and what the local market charges so you can see what the alternative costs.

02

The six groups, the papers and what each component is worth

Every Diploma subject splits into externally examined papers and internally assessed coursework. The proportions differ by group, and knowing them changes where tuition hours should go. A student who is strong in class but weak in timed papers and a student who is fine in papers but has a failing investigation are two different problems, and they cost different numbers of hours to fix.

The internally assessed component is the one most Jumeirah 3 families underestimate. It is marked by the school against published criteria, moderated by the IB, and in most subjects it sits around a fifth to a quarter of the final grade. It is also the only part of the Diploma where a student can bank marks calmly, months before the examination room, under no time pressure at all. Students who treat it as an afterthought are giving away the easiest marks in the programme.

The table below sets out the shape of each group's assessment. Read it alongside your child's own subject guide from school, because option choices and the exact component names vary by subject within a group. The point of the table is the proportion, not the fine detail: it tells you whether a term of tuition should be spent on paper technique or on coursework supervision.

One caution on figures. Weightings are revised when a subject guide is reissued, so the authoritative number is always the one in the guide your child's school is teaching from. Ask the subject teacher for the assessment outline rather than relying on any website, including this one, for the exact percentage in the year your child sits the examination.

03

Command terms: the vocabulary that decides whether a right answer scores

This is the single most transferable thing a Diploma tutor teaches, and it is almost never taught explicitly at school. IB mark schemes are written against command terms, and each term carries an expected depth of response. A student who answers an "explain" question with a "describe" answer has said something true, relevant and well-written, and will still lose most of the marks. Parents reading a mock script often cannot see why, because nothing in the answer is wrong.

The effect compounds across a paper. On an extended-response science paper, four questions answered one command level too shallow is the difference between a 5 and a 6, and no amount of additional content revision fixes it, because the content was already there. This is why a tutor who marks against the published criteria finds marks that a tutor who re-teaches the topic does not.

Teaching it is mechanical. The student takes their own marked script, identifies the command term in each question they dropped marks on, states what that term requires, and rewrites the answer to that specification. After a dozen of these, the pattern transfers, and the student starts reading the command term before the content of the question - which is the habit the whole exercise is for.

The table below lists the terms that account for most of the lost marks on the scripts we see from Dubai schools, with what each one demands. Terms vary slightly in definition between subject guides, so it is worth checking the glossary in your child's own guide.

COMMAND TERMS AND WHAT THE MARKER IS LOOKING FOR
Command termWhat the answer must containTypical shortfall we see
StateA single fact or value, no reasoning requiredStudents write a paragraph and waste examination time
DescribeAn account of features or a sequence, no causationCausation added, which earns nothing extra here
ExplainReasons or mechanism, each step linked to the nextA description with the word 'because' inserted once
DiscussA balanced review of more than one positionOne position argued well, the counter-position ignored
EvaluateJudgement supported against stated criteriaAdvantages and disadvantages listed with no judgement
DeduceA conclusion reached from given information, with the reasoningThe conclusion stated without showing what it came from
CommentA judgement based on a given statement or resultThe result restated rather than judged
04

How a past paper is actually worked, and how it is usually wasted

  • One section, properly timed, beats three papers skimmed
  • Mark against the published mark scheme, not a worked answer
  • Classify every dropped mark into one of five causes
  • Only one of those five causes is fixed by revising content
  • Past papers come from the school's licensed access, not from us

Most Jumeirah 3 students have done plenty of past papers by DP2 and have learned very little from them. The common pattern is: sit the paper, check the answers, note a percentage, feel either relieved or frightened, move on. That produces a score and no information. The paper has told you where the marks went and nobody has read the message.

The version that works is slower and covers fewer papers. The student sits one section under proper timing. The tutor marks it against the published mark scheme, not against a worked solution, because the mark scheme shows where the marks are allocated within a question rather than just whether the final answer is right. Then every dropped mark is classified: content not known, command term misread, method not shown, arithmetic, or time ran out. Those five categories have five different remedies and only one of them is revision.

The classification is what makes the exercise worth the time. A student dropping marks because the method was not written down does not need more topics taught; they need to be made to write the line they did in their head. A student running out of time needs a timing strategy and a decision rule about which question to abandon. A student misreading command terms needs the exercise in the previous section. Re-teaching content to any of those three is wasted money.

On sourcing papers: IB, Cambridge and Pearson materials are copyright, and IB Gram does not host, reproduce or supply past papers, mark schemes, subject guides or grade-boundary tables. Your child's school holds its own licensed access, and official material is available through the IB's own channels and the school's coordinator. A tutor works from whatever the student legitimately has.

05

Where the marks disappear, group by group

Patterns repeat across the scripts that come in from Dubai schools, and they are specific enough to be worth naming. In the sciences, uncertainty and significant figures account for a steady trickle of marks that students regard as pedantry right up until they see the total. In mathematics, unshown method is the single largest category, and it is entirely self-inflicted: the student knew the step and did not write it.

In the individuals and societies group, diagrams are the fastest fix available. An Economics diagram with unlabelled axes, no initial equilibrium marked, or no direction of shift indicated loses marks that take twenty minutes to learn to keep. Across a full paper that is often a grade boundary. Source-based questions in History lose marks on provenance: students evaluate content and ignore origin and purpose.

In language and literature, the recurring issue is the gap between a fluent essay and an answer to the question asked. Paper 2 answers that discuss two texts intelligently but never sustain a comparison score in the middle bands regardless of how well written they are. The individual oral loses marks earlier than students think, at the point the global issue is defined too broadly to be evidenced in the extracts chosen.

None of this is mysterious and none of it requires a tutor who lives nearby. It requires somebody who has read enough marked scripts in that subject to recognise the pattern in week one rather than week six, which is the whole argument for matching by component instead of by distance.

06

Coursework: what a tutor may do, and what would be malpractice

  • Allowed: teaching criteria, scoping questions, feedback on the student's draft
  • Not allowed: writing, rewriting, editing to completion, supplying content
  • The school's own supervisor signs the authenticity declaration
  • Completed-coursework services put the Diploma itself at risk

Every Diploma subject has an internally assessed component, and the boundary around it is strict. The work must be the student's own. A tutor may teach the criteria, explain the mark allocations, challenge a research question, point out where a draft does not meet a criterion, and teach the skills the task needs. A tutor may not write, draft, rewrite or edit the work to completion, and may not supply content for the student to submit as their own.

This is not a cautious house rule. Under IB academic-honesty regulations, work that is not the student's own is malpractice, and the consequence falls on the student: the component can be invalidated and the Diploma can be withheld. Dubai parents are approached regularly by services that offer completed internal assessments, including at published prices. Those offers put the student's Diploma at risk, and no legitimate tutor makes them.

The practical version looks like this. The tutor reads the criteria aloud with the student and states what each one is worth. The student brings a research question; the tutor asks whether it can be answered with the data the student can realistically collect, and whether it is narrow enough to be analysed rather than described. The student collects, writes and submits. The tutor reads a draft and says which criterion is underserved and why. The school's supervisor does the formal sign-off.

Said plainly, because it is a genuine difference between providers in this market: IB Gram tutors do not produce assessed work. The teaching is the product, and asking for anything else is asking for something that would harm the student it was meant to help.

07

What Diploma tuition costs around Jumeirah 3, in dirhams

Start with the monthly number, because that is the one a household budget is actually built on. Bestimate's Dubai tutoring cost table for 2026 puts a weekly one-hour arrangement at roughly AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support. Packages advertised in this market include online blocks at around AED 799 a month for eight sessions and in-home blocks at roughly AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour visits.

Converted to an hourly view, the published bands run as follows. Budget online tutoring and university-student tutors sit between AED 45 and 150, with EdFlik advertising from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from around AED 33 to 52. Qualified subject tutors working online run roughly AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. In-home one-to-one visits, travel included, are quoted at AED 180 to 500, with Bestimate's band at AED 180 to 350. IB, IGCSE and A-Level specialists sit at AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase publishing AED 270. Premium named or examiner-led tuition reaches AED 500 to 650 and above, with BartyED advertising AED 650.

Those are market figures published by the providers named, read in October 2026, and they are not IB Gram's price list. What they are useful for is a sanity check. If you are quoted AED 600 an hour for a Standard Level subject in Jumeirah 3, you now know that sits at the very top of a published range. If you are quoted AED 60, you know which band you are buying from and what the person's likely background is.

The gap worth noticing is between the online specialist band and the in-home band for the same level of teacher. Most of that difference is the car. For a family off Jumeirah Beach Road, three or four hours of a tutor's week can disappear into Al Wasl Road traffic, and somebody pays for those hours. IB Gram's own arrangement is a free trial lesson first and a consultation that sets the plan before any money moves, which is the point at which a specific figure for your child's specific subject makes sense.

Getting started from Jumeirah 3, and what happens if nobody is free

  • Send subject, level, component, school and two workable weekday windows
  • Free trial lesson first, with a written view of what is wrong
  • If no specialist is free, you are told - not handed a generalist
  • Evening slots hold better than 4pm for the inland school runs
  • Ramadan sessions move later; break-week intensives are normal

The useful first message is short and specific: subject, level, which component is the problem, which school, and two time windows that genuinely work on a weekday. With that, a match can be proposed against a real requirement rather than against a general wish for help. Without it, the first paid lesson gets spent on discovery that an email could have covered.

Then a free trial lesson runs. It is a real lesson on a real topic with the tutor proposed for the ongoing work, not a sales call, and the output is a short written view of what is actually wrong - which of the five dropped-mark categories dominates, and roughly how many hours the fix needs. Parents are welcome to read that and stop there. Several do, decide the problem is smaller than they feared, and come back in January when the mock lands.

Now the part most providers leave out. Diploma subjects are narrow and specialists are not always free at 7pm on a Tuesday in February. When no suitable tutor is available for a requested subject, level and slot, IB Gram says so rather than substituting a generalist. The options offered are a different time with the right specialist, a short wait for one to open up, or a referral elsewhere. A Physics HL student taught by somebody who last saw the subject at Standard Level is worse than a fortnight's delay.

Scheduling notes specific to this coast. The 4pm slot is fragile for families whose school run runs inland to Al Barsha or Al Quoz, and the 6.30pm to 8.30pm window holds far more reliably. During Ramadan, sessions move later and post-Iftar slots are normal. Across the UAE winter and spring breaks, families either pause or switch to an intensive block, and both are straightforward to arrange with a week's notice.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Jumeirah 3

Jumeirah 3 is part of a coastal belt whose families share schools, traffic and session timing. These are the neighbourhoods IB Gram most often schedules alongside it, and what differs about each.

Jumeirah 2

Directly north along Jumeirah Beach Road, sharing the same primary catchments and the same Al Wasl Road congestion between 2pm and 4pm. Diploma enquiries here skew towards the sciences.

Jumeirah 1

Closer to the older British-curriculum schools and to Latifa School for Girls. Families here more often need a tutor who can handle a mid-year switch from IGCSE into DP1.

Umm Suqeim

Westward along the coast, with its own cluster of large private campuses. Session timing runs slightly later because the school run finishes further from home.

Al Safa

Inland of Jumeirah 3 across Sheikh Zayed Road, which makes the 4pm slot unreliable in either direction. Evening slots from 6.30pm hold far better here.

Al Wasl

A narrow strip between Jumeirah and Al Safa, with short school runs and a high proportion of families on a full IB continuum rather than a British-to-IB switch.

Al Manara

Quieter, villa-heavy and well placed for the Al Barsha campuses. Diploma students here often travel furthest to school, which pushes tuition to weekends.

Pearl Jumeira

A newer coastal development with younger families, so enquiries lean towards Primary and Middle Years rather than the Diploma.

Palm Jumeirah

Single-access causeway traffic makes any fixed in-person slot fragile, which is one reason online scheduling holds better than a travelling tutor on this side of the coast.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the component, not just the subject

Subject, level, the paper or coursework piece causing trouble, your child's school and two weekday windows that work. Specific requirements get matched to specific tutors. A general request for help gets a general tutor, which is how most tuition quietly fails.

  2. 02

A specialist is matched by what they teach

The shortlist is built from tutors who teach that component at that level, with the rest of the pool open because there is no travel constraint. You see which level they teach and which components, and you can decline a proposed match without any obligation.

  3. 03

A free trial lesson, then a written diagnosis

A real lesson on a real topic with the proposed tutor. Afterwards you get a short written view: which category the dropped marks fall into, what order the fix runs in, and roughly how many hours it needs. Stopping there is a legitimate outcome.

  4. 04

Fixed weekly slots on Gulf Standard Time

Lessons run at the same time each week over live video, timed around the Jumeirah school run. Ramadan and break weeks shift with a week's notice. Each session ends with a short note on what moved, so progress is visible between reports.

  5. 05

Reviewed against the school's own deadlines

The plan is re-checked against the school's internal assessment dates and mock window rather than against a generic calendar, so coursework checkpoints land before the school's deadline rather than after the external one.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched on the component that is losing marks

A Physics HL student with a Paper 1 problem is matched to somebody who teaches Paper 1 at Higher Level. Removing the travel constraint is what makes that possible for a family in Jumeirah 3, because the shortlist is no longer limited to a twenty-minute radius.

Mark schemes are taught, not just topics

Command terms, method marks and criterion wording are taught explicitly. On most mock scripts this finds more available marks than re-teaching content does, because the content was already there and the marks were lost in how it was written down.

Figures are attributed and dated

Every dirham figure on this page names who published it and when it was read. No statistic appears without a source. That is unusual in this market: three of the six competitor pages ranking for this query publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars.

A clear line around assessed work

Tutors teach criteria and give feedback on the student's own drafts. They do not write, redraft or complete coursework. Services in this market sell finished internal assessments; that puts the student's Diploma at risk and is not something a legitimate tutor offers.

Availability is disclosed rather than concealed

When no specialist covers a requested subject, level and slot, you are told. The alternatives offered are a different time, a short wait, or a referral. Nobody is quietly substituted, which is the failure mode that makes parents give up on tuition entirely.

Built for the Dubai timetable as it actually runs

Session planning assumes a Dubai school week, the Jumeirah school run, Ramadan timing and the UAE break calendar. The mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies lessons that sit alongside the Diploma are part of the timetable the plan has to fit around.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jumeirah 3: your questions answered

Does an IB tutor near me in Jumeirah 3 mean somebody comes to the house?+

No. IB Gram delivers one-to-one Diploma tuition over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time. Home visits are a service offered only in India, not anywhere in the UAE. The phrase is kept on this page because it is what parents search, and the honest answer is that the lesson happens on screen. What you gain is the reason the arrangement works: your child is matched to a tutor who teaches their exact component at their exact level, rather than to whoever teaches the subject and happens to live within driving distance of Jumeirah Beach Road.

My child's answers look correct but the marks are low. What is going on?+

Usually a command-term mismatch. IB mark schemes award against the command term, so an "explain" question answered at "describe" depth contains nothing wrong and still scores poorly. Across four or five questions on one paper that is a grade boundary. The fix is mechanical rather than academic: take the marked script, name the command term in each question where marks went, state what that term requires, and rewrite the answer to that specification. After a dozen rewrites students start reading the command term before the content, which is the habit the exercise is for.

How should past papers be used so they are not a waste of two hours?+

Sit one section under proper timing rather than skimming three whole papers. Mark it against the published mark scheme rather than a worked solution, because the mark scheme shows where marks sit inside a question. Then sort every dropped mark into one of five causes: content not known, command term misread, method not written down, arithmetic, or time ran out. Those have five different remedies and only one is revision. Most students who feel they have done hundreds of papers have never done this classification once.

Which part of the Diploma do Jumeirah 3 families most often underestimate?+

The internally assessed component. In most subjects it is worth roughly a fifth to a quarter of the final grade, it is marked against published criteria, and it is the only part of the programme where marks can be banked calmly months ahead with no time pressure at all. Students who leave it late hand back the easiest marks available. Supervision is straightforward to schedule as checkpoints across a term, and the tutor's role is teaching the criteria and reading drafts, never writing any of it.

Can a tutor help with an exploration or investigation without breaking IB rules?+

Yes, within a clear line. A tutor may explain each criterion and what it is worth, challenge whether a research question can be answered with the data available, teach the skills the task needs, and tell a student which criterion a draft underserves. A tutor may not write, redraft or edit the work to completion, or supply content for submission. Work that is not the student's own is malpractice under IB rules and the consequence falls on the student, so any offer of a finished internal assessment should be refused.

What do Dubai providers publish for Diploma tuition per hour in dirhams?+

Published 2026 bands run from AED 45 to 150 for budget online and university-student tutors, AED 150 to 300 for qualified subject tutors working online, AED 180 to 500 for in-home visits with travel included, AED 200 to 450 and above for IB and IGCSE specialists, and AED 500 to 650 upwards at the premium end. Named examples include Unitors from AED 200 for IB, TutorChase at AED 270 and BartyED at AED 650. Those are the providers' own published figures, read in October 2026, not IB Gram's prices.

Why is an in-home tutor in this part of Dubai more expensive per hour?+

Because the hour includes a car. In-home rates in Dubai are published at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour against AED 150 to 300 for an equivalently qualified tutor working online, and the difference is largely travel. A tutor crossing Al Wasl Road or Sheikh Zayed Road at 4pm can lose an hour either side of the lesson, and those hours are priced in. For a Jumeirah 3 family the same budget buys either fewer hours with travel included or more hours of a narrower specialist.

How many hours does it take to move one Diploma subject by a grade?+

It depends entirely on which of the five dropped-mark causes is dominant, which is why the trial lesson produces a diagnosis before a plan. A command-term or method-mark problem can show up within six to eight focused sessions because the content is already known. A genuine content gap across several topics is a term's work at one session a week. Anybody quoting a number of hours before seeing a marked script is guessing, and anybody promising a specific grade should be declined outright.

Which Diploma subjects are hardest to find a tutor for near Jumeirah 3?+

The narrow Higher Level components. Physics HL, Mathematics Analysis and Approaches HL, Chemistry HL option content, Economics HL policy papers and the language B options all have small local supply, and the shortlist shrinks further once a weekday evening slot is required. This is the clearest case for dropping the distance filter: the same subject taught at the wrong level, or by somebody who has only taught Standard Level, does not fix a Higher Level paper problem.

Do private tutors working with Jumeirah 3 families need a permit, and how would I check?+

Yes. Private tutoring in the UAE runs on a MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered at government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Anyone tutoring without one is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. The application route is MoHRE's own private tutor licensing service, and a parent can simply ask a tutor to show their permit.

What does KHDA actually do, and does it approve tutors?+

KHDA oversees the quality of private education in Dubai and inspects schools annually on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak. It licenses schools and, separately, issues educational services permits to training institutes that operate premises with staff. It does not certify individual private tutors; that sits with MoHRE. IB Gram is not accredited or endorsed by KHDA and does not claim to be. An inspection report is still worth reading, because it names the subjects where a school's own teaching was judged weakest.

Can one tutor cover two of my child's Diploma subjects?+

Sometimes, and it is worth asking. Mathematics with Physics is a common pairing because the mechanics and calculus overlap heavily. Chemistry with Biology works for medicine applicants. Two Group 3 subjects rarely pair well, because the assessment technique differs more than the content suggests. Where a pairing is not credible the honest answer is two tutors, and it is better to be told that than to have one person cover a second subject they teach a level below the first.

Does the mandatory Arabic and Islamic Education requirement affect Diploma students?+

It affects the timetable rather than the Diploma grade. All Dubai private schools must deliver Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA requires separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, with combined classes prohibited. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. For a Diploma student the practical effect is less free periods than a parent expects, which changes how much work realistically goes home.

What happens if no tutor is free for my child's subject and time?+

You are told, and you are offered a choice: a different slot with the right specialist, a short wait for one to open, or a referral elsewhere. No generalist is quietly substituted for a specialist. Diploma components are narrow and February evenings are the tightest window in the year, so this does happen. Being told is better than the alternative: a Higher Level student taught by somebody whose experience stops at Standard Level loses a term before anybody notices.

When can a weekday Diploma session realistically start for a Jumeirah 3 family?+

If the school run stays on the coast, a 4.30pm start is usually workable. If it runs inland to Al Barsha, Al Quoz or Al Sufouh, the 4pm slot is fragile and the 6.30pm to 8.30pm window holds far better. Because lessons are online there is no travelling tutor to be delayed, so a late start costs nothing beyond the family's own evening. During Ramadan the whole pattern shifts later and post-Iftar sessions are normal rather than exceptional.

Start with the component, not the postcode

Send the subject, the level, the paper or coursework piece that is losing marks, your child's school and two weekday windows that actually work. A specialist who teaches that component at that level is proposed, a free trial lesson runs, and you get a short written view of what is wrong before any money changes hands. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, scheduled around the Jumeirah school run. If nobody suitable is free, you will be told that rather than handed a generalist - which is the only version of this arrangement worth paying for.
