IB Tutor near me in Emirates Hills

Typing IB tutor near me from an Emirates Hills address returns a radius, and a radius is the wrong answer to the question you are actually asking. What decides who your child needs is where they sit in the two-year Diploma: which term, which core deadline, which internal assessment is next. This page maps that calendar out and says what kind of help each stage genuinely needs. Lessons run one to one over live video, and the first one is free.

IB & IGCSE in Emirates Hills

A radius is not the answer; a position in the Diploma year is

Search engines interpret a near-me query as a request for proximity, so the results arrive sorted by distance from an Emirates Hills villa. That is a reasonable guess about what you meant and it is usually wrong. Very few families searching for Diploma help actually want the nearest available person. They want someone who can fix a specific thing before a specific date, and the date is the part the search cannot see.

Consider how differently the same request behaves depending on when it is made. A parent asking in September of Year 12 needs a bridging tutor: someone who can close the gap between an IGCSE or Middle Years background and a course that moves faster and assumes more. A parent asking in February of Year 12 needs internal assessment supervision. A parent asking in September of Year 13 needs predicted-grade evidence and Extended Essay drafting. A parent asking in March of Year 13 needs timed papers and mark-scheme discipline and nothing else. Four identical searches, four different tutors.

This is why the Diploma calendar, and not the map, should drive the hire. The programme has a shape: two years, six subjects each with an internally assessed component, plus an Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service. Those pieces do not arrive evenly. They cluster, and in most schools they cluster twice: once around the middle of Year 12 into early Year 13, and once in the final two terms when everything external lands at once. Knowing which cluster you are approaching tells you what to buy.

Two honest notes before the map. First, dates. The IB publishes its examination and results dates, but ibo.org blocks automated checking, so nothing on this page states an IB session or results date as fact. Get your child's dates from the school's Diploma coordinator or from ibo.org and record when you checked. Cambridge and Pearson publish theirs openly and are used here where a worked example helps. Second, delivery. IB Gram provides one-to-one tuition over live video and does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; visiting tuition is a service we run only in India. Published visiting rates appear below because the comparison is useful, not because we sell it.

What follows is the calendar in detail: the two-year map term by term with the right kind of help in each, the Diploma core deadlines that nobody chases, the six internal assessments and where they collide, what the hour costs in the context of what Dubai families already pay for school, the predicted-grade deadline that decides university offers, and an honest account of why nobody within a twenty-minute drive teaches your child's specific Higher Level option. Read it with your school's own dates beside you, because every date that matters in the first year of the Diploma is one your school chose rather than one the IB set.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Emirates Hills families reach the Diploma from more than one direction, and the direction changes what the first year should be doing. The notes below set out where each route leaves a student when the Diploma calendar starts running.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard, each with an internally assessed component, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Assessment combines external papers in a single session with internal components submitted on school-set deadlines across the two years.

The practical feature of the Diploma for a family in Emirates Hills is that six subjects set internal deadlines independently. Three can land in the same fortnight, and when they do the student does not fail at the subject, they fail at the week. That is a planning problem rather than an academic one and it is the most common reason families here look for help.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

In from the Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria each, with the Personal Project in the final year. Assessment is internal, continuous and task-based rather than built around examinations, so students arrive at the Diploma well practised at extended work and much less practised at timed papers.

Students arriving from a continuum school on the Emirates Living edge usually need timing rather than content in the first Diploma term. The useful early purchase is a short block of timed paper sections, not more teaching. Families who buy content support instead often find the second mock looks like the first, because the gap was never knowledge.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

In from IGCSE or International GCSE

Subject-by-subject specifications with syllabus codes and terminal papers, from Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, often with Core and Extended or Foundation and Higher tiers. Students arrive used to mark schemes and timed writing, and unused to extended independent research.

The reverse of the Middle Years problem. IGCSE students in these communities are comfortable with papers and uncomfortable with the Extended Essay and the internal assessments, because nothing in Years 10 and 11 asked them to design and sustain their own piece of work over months. Early help on the core pays better here than subject help.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Two or more Diploma courses alongside a career-related study, a reflective project and a core of personal and professional skills. The Diploma courses inside it carry identical assessment and session timing to a full Diploma candidate's.

Few Dubai schools run it, so most families here will not meet it. The calendar risk is the reflective project, which sits outside the subject deadlines and therefore outside the reminders attached to them. Ask for its timeline in writing at the start of the year.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

This list is organised around the internally assessed component of each subject area, because that is the part with a school-set deadline and therefore the part that drives the calendar. Use it to work out which deadline is next rather than which subject feels weakest.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The exploration is the internally assessed component and it needs a question with genuine mathematics in it, which is where students stall. Externally, the non-calculator paper carries most of the losses at Higher Level. Those two needs fall in different terms, so a maths tutor's job in February is not the job in November.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Also assessed by an exploration, usually built on a real data set, which means the data has to be sourced before anything can be written. Students who leave the data until late have no exploration. Externally, the losses are interpretation: a correct figure with no sentence saying what it means for the context.

Physics, Chemistry and Biology

HL and SL

Each is assessed by an individual scientific investigation marked against four criteria, and each needs data before writing. The viability of the research question is the whole game, and it has to be settled before apparatus is touched. Three sciences in one timetable means three investigations, often with overlapping school deadlines.

Economics and Business Management

HL and SL

Internally assessed through written commentaries or a project drawing on real-world material, so the source material must be found early and must be recent enough to analyse. Externally, diagram discipline and evaluation that reaches a judgement carry the marks, and both are trainable in short blocks.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The individual oral is internally assessed and has a fixed structure that rewards preparation; the Higher Level essay is a separate extended piece. Externally, unseen commentary under time is the skill. Students who read well still lose marks by describing a technique instead of showing how it creates an effect.

Languages: Arabic, French, Spanish, Hindi

HL, SL and ab initio

Internally assessed through an individual oral built around stimulus material, which has a learnable shape. Separately, Arabic is also a mandatory subject in Dubai private schools regardless of curriculum, so a student may be preparing a Diploma oral and following a mandatory Arabic programme in the same term.

History and Geography

HL and SL

Both carry an internally assessed investigation requiring independent source work, and in history the evaluation of sources is also the discriminating external skill. The deadline risk is high because the research cannot be compressed; a student who starts four weeks out has a worse question, not just less time.

Visual Arts, Music and Theatre

HL and SL

Assessed largely through portfolios, exhibitions and performance tasks developed over months, with documentation carrying substantial marks. Families consistently underestimate the written and reflective components, which is where a strong practical student most often loses ground against a weaker one who documented carefully.

The Extended Essay

DP core, 4,000 words

An independent research essay of up to 4,000 words with a school supervisor and school-set internal deadlines, usually beginning in the second half of Year 12. The common failure is a research question that cannot be answered within the word limit, which is a problem a single early conversation prevents.

Theory of Knowledge

DP core

An essay on a prescribed title plus an exhibition, both assessed against published criteria with school-set internal deadlines. The reliable loss is not weakness but drift: students write fluently about knowledge in general and never address the prescribed title directly, which caps the mark regardless of quality.

Creativity, Activity, Service

DP core, no grade

Not graded but required for the Diploma, with reflections and a project to be completed and evidenced. It is the item most often outstanding at the end of Year 13, and because it carries no grade it attracts no attention until it blocks something. Keep it on the same calendar as the assessed work.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

The three formats below map onto the three jobs the Diploma calendar actually generates. All of them run one to one over live video with a shared annotated workspace.

Stage-matched subject support

A weekly or fortnightly slot whose content changes with the term: bridging in the first, consolidation in the second, internal assessment in the third, paper technique in the final two. The slot stays; what happens in it is set by the calendar rather than by a syllabus march from page one.

  • The next deadline named at the start of every block
  • Content shifts with the term rather than running sequentially
  • Marked work read before anything is taught
  • A written objective for each stage, reviewed at the halfway point

Core supervision for the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge

Scheduled sessions across the months the core runs, planned backwards from the school's internal deadlines. Support is teaching the criteria, testing whether a research question is answerable, and giving written feedback on the student's own drafts. The research and the writing remain the student's.

  • A question-viability session before extended reading begins
  • Word-count planning across sections so 4,000 words is a design, not a scramble
  • Prescribed title addressed directly in Theory of Knowledge, checked explicitly
  • A written record of the help given, available to the school

Deadline-cluster triage

Short, intensive support in the fortnights where three subjects set deadlines at once. The work is as much planning as teaching: sequencing the three pieces, deciding which gets the best hours, and protecting the one closest to a grade boundary. This is the request that most often arrives too late to be easy.

  • A written sequence for the fortnight, agreed with the student
  • The weakest piece given the first and best working slot
  • Short daily targets rather than one long session
  • A review once the cluster has passed, to stop it recurring

The two-year Diploma mapped term by term, with the help each stage needs

The most useful thing a near-me search cannot give you is a map of the programme, so here it is. The Diploma runs over roughly six teaching terms, and each one asks for something different. Hiring the wrong kind of help for the term is not a small inefficiency; it is the reason families conclude the first tutor did not work and the second one did, when in fact the calendar had simply moved on.

The first term of Year 12 is a bridging term, whichever direction your child arrived from. Students in from the Middle Years Programme are comfortable with extended work and unpractised at timed papers. Students in from IGCSE are the reverse: fluent with mark schemes and unprepared for independent research. Identifying which of those two your child is, in the first eight weeks, is worth more than any amount of content support, because it tells you what the whole first year should be building.

The middle of the programme is where the internal components arrive, and where the calendar stops being gentle. Science investigations, mathematics explorations, language orals, economics commentaries and the Extended Essay all begin to carry school-set deadlines, and the deadlines are set department by department. This is the period when the right help is often supervision and sequencing rather than teaching, and when a tutor who can say what to do first is worth more than one who can explain a topic beautifully.

The final two terms invert again. Internal components are submitted, the external session approaches, and the only work that moves marks is timed papers followed immediately by mark-scheme review. Study leave shortens the school day and opens the mornings, which is the one window in two years when the best hours of the day are available. Families who front-load spending into the middle terms and then under-buy here get the shape exactly backwards, and the table sets out the alternative.

The Diploma core has its own calendar, and nobody chases it

Subject teachers chase subject deadlines. The core is different, and it is where Emirates Hills families most often find themselves surprised. The Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service all have deadlines, all of them set by the school, and none of them has a weekly lesson generating reminders in the way a subject does.

The Extended Essay is an independent research essay of up to 4,000 words with a school supervisor. The commonest failure is not laziness; it is a research question that cannot be answered within the word limit, either because it is too broad to resolve or too narrow to sustain. That is a problem settled in one conversation at the start and almost unfixable four weeks from the deadline, because the reading has been done against the wrong question. A word-count plan across sections, written early, turns 4,000 words into a design rather than a scramble.

Theory of Knowledge fails differently. Students write fluently about knowledge in general and never address the prescribed title directly, which caps the mark whatever the quality of the prose. The exhibition has its own requirements and its own deadline. Both are assessed against published criteria, and both respond quickly to explicit criterion work, which is why the core is often the cheapest grade movement available in the whole Diploma.

Creativity, Activity, Service carries no grade and is required for the Diploma, which is exactly why it is the item most often outstanding at the end of Year 13. It needs reflections and a project, evidenced. Put it on the same calendar as everything else in Year 12 rather than treating it as administration, because the version of this that goes wrong does not go wrong academically; it goes wrong as a missing requirement discovered late. Ask the coordinator for the core timeline in writing at the start of Year 12 and put all three on one page.

Six internal assessments, and the fortnight where three of them collide

Every Diploma subject carries an internally assessed component, and because departments set their deadlines independently, nothing stops three of them falling in the same fortnight. When a family here says their child has stopped coping, this is usually what has happened. The student has not become worse at any subject. They have met a week that cannot be completed.

The first thing to do about it is boring and effective: collect the dates. Ask each subject teacher, in writing, when their internal component is due, and put all six on one page next to the core deadlines and the mock window. Most Dubai schools will provide this without difficulty, and the picture it produces is usually worse than parents expect and better than the student fears, because the collisions become visible early enough to sequence around.

Then sequence, which is a skill rather than an instinct. Three pieces due in a fortnight should not be worked on in parallel; they should be ordered. The piece closest to a grade boundary goes first and gets the best hours of the day. The piece that depends on data or reading already gathered goes second. The piece that can be drafted in one concentrated sitting goes last. Written down, that is a plan a fifteen or sixteen-year-old can follow; held in the head, it becomes four nights of starting everything.

What a tutor adds in a collision fortnight is partly teaching and partly air traffic control, and families should be willing to pay for the second. A session that produces a written sequence for the next ten days, with daily targets, is worth more than a session that explains a topic. The table below gives the typical timing pattern by subject group so you can see the collisions coming; treat it as a prompt for the conversation with each teacher rather than as your school's actual calendar.

04

The predicted-grade deadline, which decides university offers

One date in the Diploma calendar carries consequences out of all proportion to its visibility, and families regularly discover it after it has passed. Predicted grades are produced by the school from the evidence it holds, and they drive university applications and the conditions attached to offers. They are not a prediction in the casual sense; they are a judgement based on what the student has actually demonstrated by a particular point.

The practical implication is that work done before that cut-off counts twice, and work done after it counts once. A mock paper sat in the weeks before predicted grades are set is evidence. The same improvement demonstrated a month later still helps in the final session but arrives too late to change the offer. Families who understand this stop treating the Year 13 mock as a rehearsal and start treating it as the highest-stakes internal assessment of the whole programme.

So the question to ask the Diploma coordinator in September of Year 13 is simple and specific: when are predicted grades finalised, and what evidence will they be based on. The answer tells you exactly which weeks matter most and therefore where a tutoring block belongs. In most schools the answer puts the critical window earlier than parents assume, which is the single most actionable piece of information on this page.

A caution to go with it. Tutoring cannot and should not try to influence a predicted grade directly; the grade reflects the school's professional judgement of demonstrated work. What tutoring can do is help the student demonstrate more by that date, which is a different and legitimate thing. Any suggestion that a service can secure a particular prediction should be treated with real scepticism, and no tutor can guarantee a grade or an outcome at any price.

05

What the hour costs, set against what Dubai families already pay for school

Tutoring cost makes more sense next to the school fee it sits beside than on its own, and in Dubai that context is unusually well documented. In 2024-25 the emirate had 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering seventeen different curricula, with the UK curriculum the largest share of enrolment, Indian second, US third and the International Baccalaureate accounting for a smaller slice. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within AED 2.5 billion in total.

Against a flat fee year, a tutoring line is easier to plan. Published Dubai rates, read in October 2026 and belonging to the providers named: Tutopiya from roughly AED 33 to 52 an hour, EdFlik from AED 45 to 65, Unitors IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200, TutorChase AED 270, Bestimate's 2026 table placing IB, IGCSE and A Level specialist work at AED 200 to 450 and above, and BartyED's premium named tutors at AED 650. Monthly, Bestimate estimates AED 240 to 600 for a budget weekly hour, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-market and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist examination-year work.

Visiting tuition is published separately at AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate and AED 200 to 500 by home tutors generally, with travel inside the figure, and monthly packages of four two-hour sessions at AED 1,599 to 1,799. For an Emirates Hills address that premium prices a journey through community roads and gate queues rather than more teaching, and it narrows the available pool to whoever can complete it and still teach a useful hour. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE, so that row describes the market rather than something we sell.

The calendar point is how to distribute the total rather than how to minimise it. Spending the same amount unevenly, with less in the two quiet terms and more in the deadline clusters and the final term, produces more than spending it flat. That is the one piece of cost advice this page will give, because it does not depend on anybody's rate card and it is within every family's control.

06

Why nobody within twenty minutes teaches your child's Higher Level option

Here is the direct answer to the near-me question. For common subjects at Standard Level, there are indeed experienced tutors within a short drive of Emirates Hills. For specific Higher Level options, there often are not, and the reason is arithmetic rather than a failure of the local market.

Count the conditions. Start with tutors who have taught, say, Higher Level Physics or Higher Level History to examination in the IB specifically rather than in another system. That is already a specialist subset. Now require them to be free at a workable evening hour in Gulf Standard Time, which is the slot every Diploma family in Dubai wants. Now require them to be willing and able to drive into a gated villa community, which means leaving early, arriving through gate queues and returning in the dark. Each condition multiplies, and the last one is the one that empties the list.

Remove the travel condition and the first two conditions are satisfiable in a normal week. That is the whole argument for the online format and it is not a marketing claim; it is why the format exists. It also produces a second benefit specific to the Diploma: the core. Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge supervision is text work, and text work with both people annotating the same document on screen is better than text work across a table, because the annotated version is saved and reusable.

The honest limit matters too. When no specialist in the exact option is free in your window, we say so and offer an alternative time, a date, or a tutor from an adjacent area who will state plainly what they need to check. We do not substitute a generalist into a Higher Level option brief. No competitor page reviewed in this market discloses a coverage limit at all, and several conceal non-local delivery behind a phone number, so the table below states our position by request type.

WHAT IS ACTUALLY AVAILABLE BY REQUEST TYPE, AND WHAT WE DO WHEN IT IS NOT

07

Permits, honesty, and the limits on help with assessed work

Two rules sit underneath everything above. The first is the permit. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated through the private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. It is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. The route is MoHRE's own private tutor licensing service, with no fee stated and a two-working-day completion time. Tutoring without a permit attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no schedule of amounts is published.

A related point for a near-me search specifically: the nearest qualified person is often a teacher at your child's own school, and that is the arrangement to avoid. Abu Dhabi's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit paid private tutoring of students enrolled at the teacher's own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the teacher's own school. Verify against the current policy document before relying on it, and do not build a plan around that arrangement.

The second rule is about assessed work, and it is sharper in the Diploma than anywhere else because so much of the grade is internally assessed. A tutor may teach the criteria, test whether a research question is answerable, explain a method, and give written feedback on the student's own draft. A tutor must never write an internal assessment, an Extended Essay or a Theory of Knowledge essay, supply the data or rewrite a paragraph into final form. One provider in this market sells completed Internal Assessments outright; that is an academic-integrity breach and a malpractice trigger for the student rather than for the seller.

For completeness: IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform. It is not approved, accredited, certified or licensed by the IB, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge or Pearson, holds no KHDA Educational Services Permit, and operates no office or centre in the UAE. Nor do we supply past papers, mark schemes, subject guides or grade-boundary tables, because those belong to the boards. We reference them and link to the official source.

08

Starting: one message, one written objective, one review at week four

The brief that works is short and contains a date. Send the subject and level, the school and year group, the next deadline and who set it, the component where marks are going, and two windows that work in an Emirates Hills week once the journey home and the activity that always overruns are accounted for. Attach the last two marked assessments with annotations visible.

The free trial lesson then runs in full, online, with no payment and no card details taken. Use it to establish three things. Can the tutor name, from the marked script, which component is losing the marks? Can they say what the end of the block should look like? And does your child talk during the hour? The first two separate a specialist from a generalist. The third is the signal most worth acting on, and it is visible within twenty minutes.

Then write the objective down. One subject, one component, a number of weeks, and what the student will do between sessions. An objective in writing can be reviewed honestly at the halfway point, which is the only moment when changing course is still cheap. Review at week four rather than week eight. On track, continue. Nothing moved, change the approach or the tutor, without apology on either side.

A last word on the search you started with. Proximity is a reasonable thing to want and it is not what makes Diploma tutoring work. What makes it work is a tutor who knows the component, is free at an hour your week can hold, and is planning backwards from a date you have both written down. That combination is available from an Emirates Hills address because the lesson arrives over live video, and it is the reason this page answered a near-me question with a calendar.

Where we tutor

Where Emirates Hills students sit in the Dubai Diploma map

The communities around Emirates Hills share schools, so they share deadline weeks. The notes below say what each contributes to the calendar picture, which matters when you are trying to book a specialist in the fortnight everyone else wants one.

The Meadows

Feeds the same Emirates Living schools, so internal assessment deadlines fall in the same weeks as they do for Emirates Hills students. The consequence is competition: the fortnight before a shared deadline is when Diploma specialists in the popular subjects are hardest to book at a convenient hour.

The Springs

A larger share of British-curriculum places nearby, so more students here follow A Level rather than the Diploma after sixteen. Families with one child on each route are managing two completely different calendars, and the A Level one has published board dates while the Diploma one does not.

The Lakes

Close to the school edge and small enough that word of mouth moves fast. The calendar point is positive: because households compare notes closely, Lakes families often know a deadline cluster is coming before the school formally announces it, which is worth acting on.

The Greens and The Views

Apartment communities with longer journeys to several of the Diploma schools. Students here lose more of the usable evening to travel, which pushes the heavy calendar work, meaning timed papers and extended writing, towards weekend mornings rather than weekday slots.

Al Barsha and Al Barsha South

The largest school cluster in the city and the one where internal deadline calendars vary most, because departments set them independently. If your child travels here, collect internal assessment dates from each subject teacher rather than from a whole-school calendar.

Al Sufouh and Umm Suqeim

Several Diploma schools within a short drive, with mock windows that are not synchronised between them. A tutor working with two Emirates Hills students from different schools may be preparing them for mocks a month apart, which is worth mentioning when you book.

Dubai Marina, JLT and JBR

Tower communities on the same school corridors with no Diploma school on site. They share the deadline calendar and add a longer commute, which makes them the heaviest competitors for the same weekend morning slots in the weeks before a cluster.

Dubai Hills and Jumeirah Park

Growing school provision on the other side of Al Khail Road. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, and new schools often have less settled internal deadline calendars in their first cohorts.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Emirates Hills

Diploma schools on or near the Emirates Living edge

These are the schools most Emirates Hills Diploma students attend, each setting its own internal assessment, mock and predicted-grade calendar. The first question for any tutoring plan is your own school's dates, because they are not standard across the cluster. Students we support attend schools in this group; no affiliation is implied.

  • Emirates International School - Meadows
  • Dubai British School Emirates Hills
  • GEMS Wellington International School, Al Sufouh

  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park

Diploma and A Level schools further out that these families also use

A longer journey and in several cases a different post-sixteen route, which changes which published calendar applies. Households with children at two of these schools routinely find the two deadline calendars share no weeks at all.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Collect all six internal deadlines on one page

Ask each subject teacher in writing when their internally assessed component is due, and add the core deadlines and the mock window. Most Dubai schools provide this readily. The page you end up with shows the collisions early enough to sequence around, which is most of the value.

  2. 02

Ask when predicted grades are finalised

One question to the Diploma coordinator in September of Year 13: when are predicted grades set and what evidence do they rest on. The answer identifies the weeks that count twice and therefore where a block of support belongs. In most schools it is earlier than families assume.

  3. 03

Say which term you are in, not just the subject

A tutor told the subject starts at the beginning of it. A tutor told the term and the next deadline plans backwards from that date. Add the component where marks are going and the school, and the first session becomes a diagnosis rather than an introduction.

  4. 04

    Send the marked work

The last two marked assessments and the most recent mock, annotations visible. Photographs are fine. This is what lets a tutor name the losing component in the first ten minutes of a free trial, which is the whole purpose of the trial.

  5. 05

Agree a written objective and a sequence

One subject, one component, a number of weeks, and what happens between sessions. In a deadline cluster, also agree a written order for the pieces, with the one nearest a boundary taking the best hours. A plan held in the head is not a plan a sixteen-year-old can follow.

  6. 06

Review at week four against the evidence

Check the error log and the timed work against the objective agreed in week one. If it is on track, continue. If nothing has moved, change the approach or the tutor. Waiting until the block ends to discover it did not work spends the one thing a calendar cannot replace.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched to the stage, not to the distance

The same subject needs bridging in term one, supervision in term three and timed papers in term six. We match on where your child sits in the Diploma calendar and which component is losing marks, because a tutor who is right in February can be the wrong hire in September.

The core taken as seriously as the subjects

The Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service have school-set deadlines and no weekly lesson generating reminders, which is why they slip. We treat core supervision as a scheduled job planned backwards from the school's own dates.

Dates with a named source

No IB session or results date appears on this page as fact, because ibo.org blocks automated verification; get yours from the coordinator or ibo.org. Cambridge and Pearson dates are quoted from their published pages. A date without a source is not information you can plan on.

An honest availability answer

Standard Level subjects are usually matched in a normal week. Specific Higher Level options at a popular evening hour are not always, and less commonly taught languages are thin. We say which before you book, because no page competing for this search discloses a coverage limit at all.

Clear limits on assessed work

Teaching the criteria, testing a research question, explaining a method and giving written feedback on your child's own draft. Never writing an internal assessment, an Extended Essay or a Theory of Knowledge essay, supplying data or rewriting to final form. The record of what help was given is available to the school.

No guarantees about grades or predictions

A predicted grade reflects the school's judgement of demonstrated work, and no tutor can secure one or promise a final grade. What we commit to is the diagnosis, the written objective, the feedback cycle and an honest review at week four, which are the parts anyone can actually control.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Emirates Hills: your questions answered

What does an IB tutor near me search actually return from Emirates Hills?+

A list sorted by distance, which is a reasonable guess at what you meant and usually not what you need. Diploma help is stage-specific: a student in the first term of Year 12 needs bridging, one in the third term needs internal assessment supervision, one in the final term needs timed papers and nothing else. Distance tells you none of that. The more useful first move is to establish which term your child is in and which deadline is next, then hire for that.

Why would the same tutor be right in February and wrong in September?+

Because the Diploma asks for different things at different points. In the first term the job is diagnosis and either timing or research skills, depending on whether your child came in from the Middle Years Programme or from IGCSE. In the middle terms it is supervision and sequencing of internal components. In the final terms it is paper technique and mark-scheme discipline. A tutor who is excellent at explaining topics may be the wrong hire for a fortnight that needs a written sequence rather than teaching.

How do I find out when my child's internal assessments are due?+

Ask each subject teacher in writing, because departments set their deadlines independently and a whole-school calendar often will not show them. Put all six on one page alongside the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge deadlines and the mock window. Most Dubai schools provide this without difficulty. The resulting page usually looks worse than parents expect and better than the student fears, because the collisions become visible early enough to be sequenced rather than survived.

Three deadlines fall in the same fortnight. What should we actually do?+

Order them rather than working on all three at once. The piece closest to a grade boundary goes first and gets the best hours of the day. The piece whose data or reading is already gathered goes second. The piece that can be drafted in one concentrated sitting goes last. Write the sequence down with daily targets, because a plan held in the head becomes four nights of starting everything. A session spent producing that sequence is worth more than one spent explaining a topic.

When are predicted grades set, and why does it matter so much?+

Ask your Diploma coordinator, because the date is the school's and it is usually earlier than families assume. Predicted grades are the school's judgement from the evidence it holds, and they drive university applications and the conditions on offers. Work demonstrated before that cut-off counts twice; the same improvement a month later still helps in the final session but arrives too late for the offer. That is why the Year 13 mock deserves to be treated as the highest-stakes internal event of the programme.

Where do I get verified dates for the IB examination session?+

From your school's Diploma coordinator or from ibo.org directly. The IB publishes its session and results dates, but its site blocks automated checking, so this page states none as fact and you should not accept one from any page that does not name its source. Secondary listings of IB dates do not always agree with each other. Ask the coordinator in writing, note the date you asked, and recheck in the examination year before building anything around it.

What goes wrong most often with the Extended Essay?+

The research question, settled badly at the start. Either it is too broad to resolve within 4,000 words or too narrow to sustain them, and by the time that becomes obvious the reading has been done against the wrong question. One early conversation testing whether the question is answerable prevents it. A word-count plan across sections, written before drafting, turns the limit into a design rather than a scramble. A tutor may test the question and feed back on drafts; the research and the writing stay the student's.

Why do strong students lose marks in Theory of Knowledge?+

Drift rather than weakness. Students write fluently about knowledge in general and never address the prescribed title directly, which caps the mark regardless of how good the prose is. The exhibition fails differently, usually because objects are chosen for personal interest rather than for the prompt. Both respond quickly to explicit criterion work: read the published criteria with the student, then check each paragraph against the title. It is often the cheapest grade movement available in the whole Diploma.

Does Creativity, Activity, Service really need to be on the calendar?+

Yes, precisely because it carries no grade. It requires reflections and a project, evidenced, and it is the item most often outstanding at the end of Year 13, when it stops being administration and starts blocking something. Nothing about it is academically difficult; the failure is always reconstruction at the end rather than documentation as it happens. Put it on the same page as the assessed deadlines in Year 12 and ask the coordinator for its timeline in writing at the start of the year.

Is there really no Higher Level specialist within twenty minutes of us?+

For common Standard Level subjects there usually is. For a specific Higher Level option the arithmetic works against it. Start with tutors who have taught that option to examination in the IB rather than another system, require them to be free at the evening hour every Dubai Diploma family wants, then require them to drive into a gated villa community and still teach a useful hour. Each condition multiplies and the last empties the list, which is why removing the travel requirement is what makes the match possible.

Do tutors come out to Emirates Hills villas, or is everything online?+

IB Gram delivers one-to-one tuition over live video and does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; visiting tuition is a service we run only in India. The market does offer it, at published rates of AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate and AED 200 to 500 by home tutors generally, with travel inside the figure. For this community the premium prices a journey through community roads and gate queues rather than more teaching, and it narrows the choice of specialist sharply.

Which Diploma terms deserve the biggest share of a tutoring budget?+

Unevenly. Published Dubai rates read in October 2026 run from roughly AED 33 to 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to 65 at EdFlik, through Unitors IB from AED 200 and TutorChase at AED 270, to Bestimate's specialist band of AED 200 to 450 and above. Monthly, Bestimate estimates AED 240 to 600 budget and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist examination-year work. Spend less in the two quiet terms and more in the deadline clusters and the final term; the same total does more in that shape.

Can tutoring improve the grade the school predicts for my child?+

Not directly, and any service claiming it can should be treated with real scepticism. A predicted grade is the school's professional judgement of what the student has actually demonstrated by a given date. What tutoring can legitimately do is help the student demonstrate more before that date, which is a different thing and the reason the predicted-grade cut-off is worth knowing. No tutor can guarantee a grade, a prediction or a university outcome at any price.

My child came from an MYP school and is struggling with Diploma papers. Why?+

Almost always timing rather than content. Middle Years assessment rewards extended, researched work completed over days against criteria that value process and reflection. Diploma papers reward accuracy, speed, command-term discipline and finishing. A student with strong criterion grades can be rattled by a first Diploma mock purely because nothing has trained them against a clock. The fix is a short block of timed paper sections with immediate mark-scheme review, not more teaching of the topic.

What should the summer between Year 12 and Year 13 be used for?+

It is the largest uninterrupted block in the programme and the best place to put work that term time cannot hold. Two candidates: finishing or substantially advancing the Extended Essay, which removes the worst collision of Year 13, and closing one named content weakness properly rather than patching it. What it should not be used for is general revision of everything, which produces a tired student in September and no identifiable gain. Pick two objectives and write them down.

How do we start, and what should the first four weeks produce?+

Send the subject and level, the school and year group, the next deadline and who set it, the component where marks are going, and two windows that work once the journey home and the activity that overruns are allowed for. Attach the last two marked assessments. The free trial then runs in full online with no payment or card details. By week four you should have a written objective, a weekly feedback cycle and an honest review against the evidence rather than against how the hour felt.
