IB Home Tutor in Emirates Hills

Families searching for an IB home tutor in Emirates Hills are almost always counting weeks. A mock has come back, an internal deadline is close, or the May session is a number of months away and the gap is not closing. This page is written from the calendar outwards: what a given number of weeks can realistically achieve, which deadlines your school sets rather than the IB, and where to verify every date. IB Gram delivers this as one-to-one online tuition over live video, and the first lesson is free.

  • Every date here names who sets it and where you can verify it
  • Diploma specialists matched by subject and level, not by driving distance
  • One-to-one lessons over live video; home visits are an India-only service
  • One free trial lesson, with no payment and no card details taken

IB & IGCSE in Emirates Hills

Work out the date first, because it decides what help can honestly do

A parent in Emirates Hills who starts looking for an IB tutor is rarely starting from zero. Something has happened: a mock paper has come back lower than expected, a subject teacher has used the word concern at a parents' evening, or an internal assessment deadline has arrived and nothing is written. The instinct is to ask how good the tutor is. The more useful first question is how many weeks are left, because the answer changes what any tutor can reasonably promise.

Eight weeks is the unit worth thinking in. In eight weeks of weekly one-to-one work, one subject can move: a named topic can be rebuilt, a paper technique can be trained, a set of command terms can be learned, an internal assessment can be planned and drafted. What eight weeks cannot do is lift six subjects at once, close two years of accumulated gaps, or replace content the student has never been taught. A tutor who agrees to the first and declines the second two is giving you accurate information, not being unambitious.

The IB calendar makes this harder to plan than the British one, for a reason worth stating plainly. The IB's examination and results dates are published by the IB, and the organisation's website blocks automated checking, so nothing on this page states an IB session or results date as fact. Dates for your child's session must come from your school's Diploma coordinator or from ibo.org directly, and you should take them from one of those two sources before building a plan. Cambridge and Pearson, by contrast, publish their dates openly, and this page uses those as the worked example of how far ahead a deadline sits.

The other thing a calendar-led plan reveals is how many of the dates that matter are set by your child's school rather than by the IB. Internal deadlines for the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and each subject's internal assessment are the school's. Mock windows are the school's. Predicted grades, which drive university offers, are the school's. Study leave is the school's. For an Emirates Hills family those are the dates to write on a wall calendar, because they arrive earlier than the examination session and they bite harder.

A word on the phrase in the heading of this page. An IB home tutor is what parents search for and it is the right phrase to use, so it is used here. What IB Gram actually provides is one-to-one tuition delivered online over live video. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; visiting tuition is a service we run only in India. The published dirham figures for visiting tutors appear further down because the comparison is genuinely useful when you are working to a deadline, and against a deadline the online format wins on the two things that matter most: who is available, and whether a session can be moved.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Which calendar you are on depends on where your child sits in the continuum. The notes below describe what the next eight weeks should be achieving at each stage, as Emirates Hills families meet them, with the dates that are verifiable kept separate from the ones that are not.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups, each assessed against four criteria marked out of eight, with the final year adding the Personal Project. Assessment is internal and continuous rather than built around a single examination window, so the calendar is a sequence of school-set task deadlines rather than one terminal date.

For an Emirates Hills family the Middle Years calendar question is almost always the Personal Project, which arrives in MYP 5 and is the item most often started late. The eight weeks that matter are the first eight, when the goal is set and the process journal begins. Work done then prevents the rescue job families contact us about in the final fortnight.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects at Standard or Higher Level plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries an internally assessed component alongside written papers, and the internal components have school-set deadlines that fall well before the examination session.

Diploma families here run two calendars at once. The school's internal deadline calendar, which is specific to your school and must be asked for, and the examination session itself, whose dates come from the Diploma coordinator or ibo.org. The internal calendar is the one that produces the crisis, because three subjects can set deadlines in the same fortnight.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Two or more Diploma courses taken with a career-related study, a reflective project and a core of personal and professional skills. The Diploma courses within it carry the same assessment and the same session timing as a full Diploma candidate's.

The calendar risk here is the reflective project, which sits outside the subject deadlines and therefore outside the reminders that come with them. Few Dubai schools run this route; if your child is on it, ask for the reflective project timeline in writing at the start of the year rather than waiting for it to be announced.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE, where the dates are published

Cambridge runs IGCSE and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. The February and March series is offered to India only, so a candidate sitting in Dubai is always working towards June or November. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations are available in May or June and in November each year.

Use the Pearson International GCSE calendar as the model for how far ahead a deadline sits, because it is published and checkable for this region. Count the November 2026 series backwards: the final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and results reached students in the January that followed, the way November 2025 results landed on 22 January 2026. Entries for a series that finishes in November are settled long before the autumn term is underway, which is why a family asking about tutoring in September is already late for some decisions and perfectly on time for others. The Cambridge equivalent works the same way on a June axis: entries close in the spring, months ahead of the first paper, and the exact day is printed on the centre's statement of entry rather than guessed at here. An entry deadline sitting months before the paper is normal, not unusual.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The list below is organised by what the next eight weeks can realistically do in each subject area, because the answer is different in a mathematics course than in a language or a humanity. Use it to decide where one block of tutoring belongs rather than spreading it across six subjects.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Eight weeks can train a non-calculator paper technique or rebuild one named topic such as integration or trigonometric identities. It cannot cover two years of algebra. The highest-value eight-week block here is timed Paper 1 sections followed by mark-scheme review, because the loss is usually technique rather than knowledge.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Eight weeks can secure the statistics and modelling topics that carry the heaviest marks, and can get the exploration from a topic to a draft. Students here lose marks on interpretation rather than calculation: a correct number with no sentence saying what it means for the context scores poorly.

Physics

HL and SL

Eight weeks fits one theme rebuilt properly plus a data-paper block, or an internal assessment taken from data to finished analysis. It does not fit the whole course. Fields is the theme most often named in requests from this part of Dubai, and it responds well to a short, concentrated block.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Eight weeks is enough for organic mechanisms, which need per-attempt correction rather than reading, or for energetics and equilibrium argument. The internal assessment needs its own block. Mechanism work in an eight-week window before a mock is one of the clearest returns available in the Diploma.

Biology

HL and SL

Eight weeks works well here because the losses are usually command terms and specificity rather than content: answers that describe when the question says explain, or that name a process without naming the structure. Training answer shape against mark schemes moves marks faster than rereading notes.

Economics and Business Management

HL and SL

Eight weeks can train diagram discipline and evaluation, which is where most of the marks sit. Students lose marks by drawing a correct diagram and not referring to it in the prose, and by writing evaluation that lists both sides without reaching a judgement. Both are quick to fix with a specialist.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Eight weeks is enough to prepare the individual oral properly or to train unseen commentary under time. It is not enough to read the texts for the first time. The reliable loss is analysis replaced by description: saying that a technique appears rather than showing how it creates an effect.

Languages: Arabic, French, Spanish, Hindi

HL, SL and ab initio

Eight weeks shifts speaking confidence and the structure of written tasks more than it shifts vocabulary range. The highest-value work is the individual oral and the written task format, both of which have a shape that can be taught. Vocabulary needs longer and is mostly the student's own work.

The internal assessments

All subjects, school-set deadlines

Each subject has one, each carries a meaningful share of the grade, and each has a deadline set by your school rather than by the IB. Eight weeks is a comfortable window for planning, data or research, and drafting with feedback. Four weeks is a rescue. One week is not a tutoring problem.

The Extended Essay

DP core, school-set deadlines

A 4,000-word independent research essay with supervision from a school supervisor. Eight weeks can take a student from a confirmed research question to a complete first draft if the reading is underway. It cannot produce the research. Tutoring here is process coaching and feedback on the student's own drafts.

Theory of Knowledge

DP core

The essay and the exhibition both have school-set deadlines and both are assessed against published criteria. Eight weeks is sufficient for either with room to spare, and the common failure is the opposite of lateness: students write confidently and never address the prescribed title directly, which is where the marks go.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Against a deadline the shape of the booking matters as much as the tutor. The three formats below are the ones that work when a date is fixed, and all three run online over live video with a shared annotated workspace.

An eight-week block on one subject

A defined run of weekly sessions aimed at one subject and one named weakness, with an end point set by the deadline rather than by a renewal date. The total is knowable before you start, the goal is written down, and the block ends when the error pattern changes or the date arrives.

  • One subject, one named component or topic
  • Timed work attempted between sessions and reviewed inside them
  • An error log so progress is visible rather than assumed
  • A written goal for week eight, agreed in week one

Internal assessment support, scheduled backwards

Sessions planned back from the school's own deadline: viability or research question first, then data or reading, then drafting with written feedback. Support is teaching, feedback and process coaching on the student's own work, never producing it, and the schedule is built so the final fortnight is review rather than writing.

  • The school's deadline confirmed in writing before anything is planned
  • A viability session before data collection or extended reading begins
  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own drafts
  • A written record of the help given, available to the school

Study-leave intensives

Short, frequent morning sessions during the period when the school day has shortened and the best hours of the day are free. This is the one window in two years when timed full papers followed immediately by mark-scheme review are genuinely possible, and it returns more per session than any term-time evening.

  • Two or three mornings a week, shorter sessions
  • A full paper or paper section under timed conditions each time
  • Immediate mark-scheme review while the attempt is fresh
  • Across subjects if needed, triaged by where the marks are closest

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Emirates Hills

01

What a given number of weeks can honestly achieve

The most useful conversation a parent can have before hiring anyone is about arithmetic rather than ambition. Count the weeks between today and the date that matters, subtract the weeks the family is travelling, subtract the fortnight either side of any other deadline in the same subject, and work with what is left. The number that survives is small, and it is the number a plan should be built on.

With twelve or more weeks, there is room to diagnose, rebuild a topic, train a paper technique and then consolidate. With eight, one of those has to be dropped and the diagnosis has to be fast, which is why marked work sent before the first session matters so much. With four weeks, the only honest objective is technique: command terms, timing, answer shape and the mechanics of presenting work, because content built in four weeks does not survive examination pressure. With two weeks, a tutor's job is to stop the student doing the wrong thing.

Where families go wrong is not in starting late. It is in asking for too much from the weeks they have. A request to lift six subjects in eight weeks produces thin work across all of them, and the grade moves in none. A request to lift one subject by one grade band in eight weeks is achievable often enough to be worth doing, and the subject to pick is the one closest to a boundary rather than the one furthest behind. That is counter-intuitive and it is almost always correct.

The table sets the realistic objective against the weeks available. Use it to decide what to ask for rather than as a promise, and remember that nothing here is a guarantee about a grade; no tutor can offer one and any provider doing so should be treated with real scepticism. What a good tutor can commit to is the plan, the diagnosis and the feedback cycle, which is the part that is actually within anyone's control.

Who sets which date, and where to check each one

An IB Diploma family is managing at least five separate calendars, and only one of them belongs to the IB. Mixing them up is the most common planning error we see, because it leads parents to assume a date is fixed when it is their school's choice, or to assume it is flexible when it is not.

Be direct about the IB dates. The IB publishes its examination and results dates, but ibo.org returns an error to automated checking, so no IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself. That means this page does not state one. Get your child's session dates from the school's Diploma coordinator or from ibo.org directly, write them down with the date you checked, and recheck in the examination year. Any page that hands you an IB date without naming where it came from is handing you something it has not verified.

Cambridge and Pearson do publish checkable dates, and they are worth using as the model for how early a deadline sits. Cambridge runs its IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series, with Checkpoint tests in March, May and October; the February and March series belongs to India and a Dubai candidate cannot sit it. Take Pearson's November 2026 International GCSE series and count backwards from the end: the final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, results followed in January, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson's June route runs on the same logic one term earlier, with June 2026 results reaching centres on 19 August and students on 20 August 2026. For Cambridge June, entries close in the spring, well ahead of the first paper, and the precise date comes from the school's examinations officer on the statement of entry. Cambridge also allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, because it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who misses an exam after reading the wrong one.

One Cambridge detail deserves its own sentence, because the consequence is irreversible. Every centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, and Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong zone timetable. If your child is sitting Cambridge papers, confirm the zone with the examinations officer rather than downloading a timetable from a search result.

A visiting tutor or an online specialist, judged against a deadline

When the calendar is tight, the comparison between a visiting tutor and online one-to-one stops being about preference and becomes a question of logistics. Three things decide it: who is actually available, what happens when a session has to move, and whether the arrangement survives a family's travel. All three go the same way, and it is worth setting out why rather than asserting it.

Availability first. Emirates Hills is a gated villa community set around a golf course, reached through community roads with their own speed limits and gate queues. A visiting tutor's working radius is therefore smaller than the map suggests, and the pool narrows to those who can complete the journey and still teach a useful hour. For a Higher Level subject in a specific component, that pool can be one or two people, and in a deadline week the odds of one of them being free at your time are poor. Online, the constraint disappears and the match is made on the subject.

Then rescheduling. In the eight weeks before a mock, sessions move. A match runs over, a school event appears, a child is unwell, a parent's flight shifts. Moving an online session is a message. Moving a visiting session means re-planning somebody's afternoon and, in the published market, often means paying for it anyway. Over an eight-week block the difference between losing one session and losing three is the difference between finishing the plan and abandoning it.

The money is the third piece, and the figures are published. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 an hour, and home tutors more broadly at AED 200 to 500, with travel inside the rate; monthly packages of four two-hour visiting sessions are quoted at AED 1,599 to 1,799. Against that, EdFlik publishes online tuition from AED 45 to 65, Tutopiya from roughly AED 33 to 52, Unitors IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200, TutorChase AED 270, and Bestimate puts specialist IB and IGCSE work at AED 200 to 450 and above. Those figures were read in October 2026 and belong to those providers. What the travel premium buys, measured honestly, is the journey; IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE, and the online format is why a subject specialist is available in a deadline week at all.

What to do with mock results, in the order that matters

A Diploma mock produces six results at once, and the instinct is to act on the lowest. That is usually the wrong call. With a limited number of weeks and a limited budget, the subject to work on is the one closest to a boundary, because moving a subject from the top of one band to the bottom of the next costs fewer marks than moving a subject that is two bands adrift.

So the first job after a mock is triage, and it needs the marked scripts rather than the grades. For each subject, find out how far the total sat below the next boundary, which component the lost marks came from, and whether the losses were content, technique or timing. Three subjects will usually have a clear answer, two will be fine, and one will need a conversation with the teacher. That exercise takes an evening and it is the highest-value hour of the whole term, whether or not you hire anybody.

The second job is to separate the three kinds of loss, because they need different responses and only one of them needs a tutor urgently. Timing losses show up as unanswered questions at the end of a paper and are fixed by timed practice the student can do alone. Technique losses show up as correct content written under the wrong command term, and respond fast to a short specialist block. Content losses show up as blank or wrong across a whole topic, and are the slowest to fix, which is why they need the most weeks.

The third job is to decide what not to do. A mock is also permission to stop something. If a subject is secure, stop revising it weekly and check it monthly. If an internal assessment is complete, stop thinking about it. If an activity is genuinely unsustainable alongside the final term, the household can decide that now rather than in April. Families who come out of a mock having chosen two things to focus on and two things to drop do better over the following eight weeks than families who resolve to work harder at everything.

05

Two calendars that are not the IB's: the Dubai school year and the mandatory subjects

Something no competitor page in this market mentions: your child's revision calendar is competing with subjects that sit outside the IB programme entirely. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social and Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA's requirements were to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year, or April 2026 for schools whose year begins in April.

The rules are specific enough to plan around. For Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs, and combined classes are prohibited because the curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language, Arabic is the primary language for Social Studies for Arab students, and the school's licensed-curriculum language is used for non-Arabs in Islamic Education and in Moral, Social and Cultural studies. Instructional time is calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit, schools may vary lesson length provided the weekly total is met, and KHDA advises that any mandatory-subject lesson lasts at least twenty-five minutes.

Two further details matter. Schools must ensure that teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold the appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects. And for the mandatory subjects, using different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is prohibited, which is why tutoring in these subjects follows the school's own material rather than an outside scheme. If your child has an Arabic assessment in the fortnight you had earmarked for Diploma past papers, the Diploma work moves.

The second non-IB calendar is the household one. Ramadan shortens the school day and shifts when useful work happens, which commonly means a post-Iftar session or a late morning rather than a cancelled one. The two-month Dubai summer sits between the two Diploma years and is the single largest uninterrupted block available for a bridging or catch-up plan. And Emirates Hills families travel, which is manageable online and not manageable with a visiting arrangement. Write the travel dates on the same calendar as the deadlines before you count available weeks, because a plan that ignores three weeks abroad is not a plan.

06

Retakes, the November session and the cost of deciding late

Results day produces a decision, and the window for it is short. A student who has narrowly missed a university condition has three broad options: accept the offer that is available, ask for a re-mark or enquiry upon results through the school, or enter for a later session and reapply. Each has a deadline, and only the first one is obvious.

The enquiry upon results route runs through the school, not the family, and it has a deadline set by the board rather than by the school. That means the conversation has to happen in the first days after results rather than in the second week. Ask the coordinator what the deadline is, what the enquiry costs, and what evidence makes it worth attempting, because a re-mark is worth requesting when a total sat a mark or two below a boundary and rarely worth it otherwise.

A retake decision is harder because it rearranges a year. The IB runs a November session as well as a May one, and the practical questions are whether your child's school enters candidates for it, whether the subject can be re-sat without redoing internally assessed components, and what the university will accept. All three answers come from the school and the university rather than from a tutoring page, and all three should be established before any tutoring is booked. Confirm every session date with your Diploma coordinator or ibo.org.

What tutoring can do in this situation is well defined. A diagnostic session on the returned scripts, once available, to establish exactly where the marks went. A focused block on the components that lost them, with timed practice. And an honest assessment of whether the gap is closeable in the weeks before the next session. Deciding in July costs less than deciding in September, which is the only reason this section sits on a calendar-led page.

07

MoE equivalency: the paperwork calendar nobody mentions until Year 13

A separate calendar appears at the end of the Diploma for families staying in the UAE, and it catches people out because nobody warns them in Year 12. Secondary certificates generally need equivalency from the Ministry of Education before they can be used for university admission in the UAE, and the requirements differ by curriculum track.

The British-track requirements are published and specific. A student must submit proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level with the same grade, and must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. That five-subject rule is worth noting carefully, because at least one ranking competitor page states that UAE candidates must take six IGCSE subjects, which is not what the published requirement says.

The American track has its own thresholds. English proficiency requires a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT test, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and mathematics requires at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying. For the IB specifically, no points threshold is published in the source we have read, so this page states none. Confirm the IB requirement on moe.gov.ae or with the emirate's attestation authority, and do not accept a figure from a page that does not say where it came from.

Two boundaries on this. Equivalency is a process run by the Ministry of Education, not something IB Gram performs, guarantees or expedites, and nothing about tutoring is required for it. We describe it, cite the authority and point you to the official channel. The reason it belongs on a calendar-led page is simply that the paperwork takes time and the deadline is a university's, so the right moment to start reading about it is Year 12 rather than the week the offers arrive.

08

Permits, honesty and what the next eight weeks should look like

Two rules before the practical steps. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated through the private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. It is granted free of charge for two years, and eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. Applications go through MoHRE's own private tutor licensing service, with no fee stated and a two-working-day completion time. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no schedule of amounts is published.

The second rule concerns assessed work, and it bites hardest in a deadline week. A tutor may teach the criteria, discuss a research question, explain a method and give written feedback on the student's own draft. A tutor must never write an internal assessment, an Extended Essay or a Theory of Knowledge essay, supply data or rewrite a paragraph into final form. The pressure to cross that line rises as a deadline closes, which is exactly why the boundary should be agreed in writing at the start rather than negotiated at the end. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform and is not approved, accredited or licensed by the IB, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA or the Ministry of Education.

Starting takes one message. Send the subject and level, the school and year group, the date you are working towards and who set it, the component where the marks are going, and two windows that work in an Emirates Hills week. Attach the marked mock or the last two assessments. A tutor who reads those before the trial arrives with a plan for eight weeks rather than an introduction to the subject.

Then the free trial lesson, which runs in full online with no payment and no card details. Ask the tutor to state, out loud, what week eight should look like and what the student has to do between sessions to get there. Write it down. Review against that at week four. If the plan is on track, continue; if nothing has moved, change the approach or the tutor rather than extending out of politeness. And if no specialist in the right component is free in your window, we will tell you and offer an alternative time rather than putting a generalist into the brief, because in a deadline term a mismatched hour is worse than no hour.

Where we tutor

The Emirates Living calendar, community by community

Emirates Hills sits inside the wider Emirates Living cluster, and the communities around it share school calendars, bus routes and therefore deadline weeks. The notes below describe what each neighbour contributes to the planning picture when you are counting weeks.

The Meadows

Shares the school edge with Emirates Hills and feeds the same continuum schools, so Meadows and Emirates Hills students usually hit internal assessment deadlines in the same fortnight. That matters if you are hiring in a crowded week, because demand for Diploma specialists peaks at the same time across both communities.

The Springs

A short distance away with a slightly different school mix, including more British-curriculum provision. Families here more often work to a published Cambridge or Pearson calendar rather than to a school-set IB one, which makes planning easier and the entry deadlines harder to miss.

The Lakes

Small, close to the Emirates Hills school edge, and sharing the same gated-community timing constraints in the afternoon. The practical calendar point here is study leave, which opens mornings and is the only period when the best hours of the day are actually available for revision.

The Greens and The Views

Apartment communities across Sheikh Zayed Road with a mix of primary and secondary provision nearby. Diploma students here often travel further than Emirates Hills students do, which compresses the usable evening and pushes serious revision towards weekend mornings.

Al Barsha and Al Barsha South

The largest school cluster in Dubai, and the one whose internal deadline calendars vary most. If your child travels here, ask the subject teachers directly for their internal assessment dates rather than relying on a whole-school calendar, because departments set them independently.

Dubai Marina, JLT and JBR

Tower communities on the same school corridors, with no IB school on site. Families there face the same deadline calendar and a longer journey home, so they are the heaviest users of weekend morning sessions in the weeks before a mock.

Al Sufouh and Umm Suqeim

Close enough for a short drive and home to several schools Emirates Hills families use. Worth knowing that the mock windows at these schools are not synchronised, so a tutor working with two students from different schools may be preparing them for different weeks.

Dubai Hills and Al Quoz

A newer school cluster on the other side of Al Khail Road, growing steadily. Dubai announced seven new private schools for the 2026-27 intake, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, and this corridor carries a share of that growth.

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Emirates Hills

Schools on or beside the Emirates Living edge

These are the schools within a short drive of an Emirates Hills villa, running a mix of IB continuum and British provision. Each sets its own internal assessment and mock calendar, which is why the first question to ask is always your own school's dates. Students we support attend schools in this group; no affiliation is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Write the date down and name who set it

Internal assessment deadline, mock window, predicted grades cut-off or examination session, and whether it comes from the school, the board or the IB. Verify the IB dates with your Diploma coordinator or ibo.org and note when you checked. A plan built on an unverified date is a plan built on nothing.

  2. 02

Count the weeks that actually exist

Subtract travel, subtract the fortnight around any other deadline in the same subject, subtract the week of the mock itself. The number left is what the plan has to work with, and it is usually smaller than the calendar suggests. Decide what to ask for after you have that number, not before.

  3. 03

    Triage from the marked scripts

For each subject, find how far the total sat below the next boundary, which component lost the marks, and whether the losses were content, technique or timing. Work on the subject nearest a boundary rather than the one furthest behind. This evening's work is the highest-value hour in the term.

  4. 04

Brief the tutor on the deadline, not the subject

Send the subject and level, the date, the component, the school and two windows. Attach the marked work. A tutor briefed this way plans eight weeks backwards from the date; a tutor told only the subject starts at the beginning of the syllabus and uses three of your weeks getting oriented.

  5. 05

Agree what week eight looks like

In the free trial, ask the tutor to state the objective for the end of the block and what the student must do between sessions. Write both down. A block with a written goal can be reviewed honestly at the halfway point, which is the only moment when changing course is still cheap.

  6. 06

Review at week four, not week eight

Check the error log and the timed work against the goal agreed in week one. On track, continue. Nothing moved, change the approach or the tutor. Waiting until the block ends to find out it did not work wastes the one resource a calendar-led plan cannot replace, which is weeks.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Dates with a source attached

Every date on this page names who sets it and where to check it, and no IB session or results date is stated as fact because ibo.org blocks automated verification. Cambridge and Pearson dates are quoted from their own published pages with the series named. A date without a source is not information.

Planned backwards from your deadline

Blocks are built from the date you are working towards, with a written objective for the final week and a review at the halfway point. That is a different product from an open weekly booking, and in a term with a fixed deadline it is the only shape that reliably finishes.

Matched on component, not on proximity

Because lessons run over live video, the tutor is chosen for having taught the component where your child is losing marks. From a gated villa community that is the whole difference: the pool of specialists who could physically arrive before six is very small, and in a deadline week it is smaller still.

Sessions that move without costing a week

In the eight weeks before a mock, sessions get displaced by matches, school events and travel. Moving an online session is a message. Over a block, the difference between losing one session and losing three decides whether the plan finishes, which is why format matters more under a deadline than at any other time.

The academic-honesty line agreed in advance

Teaching, feedback and process coaching on the student's own work. Never writing an internal assessment, an Extended Essay or a Theory of Knowledge essay, supplying data or rewriting to final form. The pressure to cross that line rises as a deadline closes, so the boundary is written down at the start.

No guarantees, and a plan instead

No tutor can promise a grade and any provider offering one should be treated with real scepticism. What we commit to is the diagnosis, the written objective, the feedback cycle and an honest review at week four, which are the parts anybody can actually control.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Emirates Hills: your questions answered

My child's IB exams are a few months away. Is it too late to start tutoring?+

No, but it changes what to ask for. With twelve or more weeks there is room to diagnose, rebuild a topic and then train paper technique. With eight, pick one subject and one named weakness. With four, work on technique only: command terms, timing and answer shape, because content built in four weeks rarely survives examination pressure. With two, the job is to stop the specific habits losing marks. Starting late is not the problem; asking for six subjects to move in eight weeks is.

Where do I get the actual dates for my child's IB examination session?+

From your school's Diploma coordinator or from ibo.org directly, and nowhere else. The IB publishes its session and results dates, but its site blocks automated checking, so this page deliberately states none. Ask the coordinator in writing, record the date you asked, and recheck in the examination year. Any page that gives you an IB examination or results date without naming its source is passing on something unverified, and secondary sources on these dates do not always agree with each other.

Which deadlines matter more than the exam session itself?+

The ones your school sets, because they come first and they are specific to your school. Subject internal assessment deadlines are set department by department, so three can land in the same fortnight. The Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge timelines come from the Diploma coordinator. The mock window and the predicted grades cut-off are the school's, and predicted grades drive university offers. Ask the subject teachers directly for their internal dates rather than relying on a whole-school calendar.

After a mock, should we work on the worst subject or a different one?+

Usually a different one. With limited weeks and a limited budget, the subject to work on is the one closest to a boundary, because moving a total from the top of one band to the bottom of the next costs fewer marks than closing a two-band gap. Get the marked scripts, find how far each total sat below the next boundary, and identify whether the losses were content, technique or timing. Timing is fixable alone, technique responds fast to a specialist, content needs the most weeks.

Do tutors come to houses in Emirates Hills, or are lessons online?+

IB Gram delivers one-to-one tuition over live video; we do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE, and visiting tuition is a service we run only in India. The market does offer visiting tutors, at published rates of AED 180 to 350 by Bestimate and AED 200 to 500 by home tutors generally, with travel inside the figure. Against a deadline the online format wins on the two things that decide an eight-week block: which specialist is actually available, and whether a displaced session can be moved rather than lost.

How far ahead of an exam does an entry deadline usually fall?+

Months, and the published Pearson calendar shows it most clearly for this region. Pearson's November 2026 International GCSE timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, with results reaching students the following January, as November 2025 results did on 22 January 2026; the June route is the same shape one term earlier, with June 2026 results to centres on 19 August and students on 20 August 2026. Cambridge candidates in the UAE sit June and November only, since the February and March series is offered to India, and Cambridge June entries close in the spring, months before the first paper. Treat an entry deadline sitting two to three months ahead of the exam as normal, read the timetable for your centre's Cambridge zone, and confirm your own dates with the school's examinations officer.

Our school sits Cambridge papers: what is the zone timetable trap?+

Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, each with its own version of the timetable. Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version for your zone and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong one. The consequence is irreversible, so confirm the zone with your school's examinations officer rather than downloading a timetable from a search result. It takes one email and it removes a risk nobody can fix afterwards.

How many weeks does an internal assessment actually need?+

Eight is comfortable, four is a rescue, one is not a tutoring problem. The schedule should run backwards from the school's deadline: viability or research question first, then data collection or extended reading, then drafting with written feedback, leaving the final fortnight for review rather than writing. The commonest failure is a research question that cannot produce a usable result, discovered weeks in. One session spent testing that before any work begins saves the whole exercise.

What exactly may a tutor do on an Extended Essay as the deadline closes?+

Teach the assessment criteria, discuss whether the research question is answerable, explain how to structure an argument, and give written feedback on the student's own draft. What a tutor must never do is write it, supply the research, or rewrite a paragraph into its final form. The pressure to cross that line rises as the date approaches, which is why the boundary belongs in writing at the start. The essay must be the student's own work, and the consequences of anything else fall on the student.

Can sessions continue when we travel out of Dubai during term?+

Yes, which is one of the practical reasons online suits this community. Lessons run over live video, so a session continues from wherever there is a reliable connection, and the schedule can shift by a few hours to fit a different time zone. A visiting arrangement simply stops for the duration. If your family travels for three weeks in an eight-week block, write those weeks on the calendar before you count available sessions, because a plan that ignores them is not a plan.

Does an eight-week block survive Ramadan, and how should it shift?+

By moving, not by pausing. The school day shortens, so sessions commonly shift to a post-Iftar slot or to a late morning, and the content should move with the slot. Heavy work such as derivations, timed papers and extended writing goes in the morning when energy is highest; lighter work such as marked-script review, error tagging and recall practice goes in the later slot. Families who plan the shift in advance keep the block on track; families who cancel for the month lose four of their eight weeks.

Does study leave change what tutoring should look like?+

Completely, and for the better. Study leave shortens or ends the school day and opens the mornings, which is the only period in two years when the best hours are available. That is the window for full papers under timed conditions followed immediately by mark-scheme review while the attempt is fresh, something no term-time evening slot can accommodate. Two or three shorter morning sessions a week return more than one long evening session, and the triage can span subjects rather than sticking to one.

If results are disappointing, what are the real options and their deadlines?+

Three, and the window is short. Accept an available offer. Ask the school to submit an enquiry upon results, which runs through the school on a board-set deadline and is worth attempting mainly when a total sat a mark or two below a boundary. Or enter for a later session and reapply, which depends on whether your school enters candidates for it and whether internally assessed components carry over. Ask the coordinator all three questions in the first days after results, not the second week.

What does UAE Ministry of Education equivalency require from a British-track student?+

Published requirements are one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level with the same grade, plus five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education not counted among those five. One ranking competitor page states six IGCSE subjects are required, which is not what the published rule says. For the IB specifically, no points threshold is published in the source read, so confirm it on moe.gov.ae.

Does my child need tutoring to get equivalency or a university place?+

No. Equivalency is a Ministry of Education process with published requirements, and nothing about private tutoring is part of it. IB Gram does not perform, expedite or guarantee equivalency or attestation, and any suggestion that tutoring is required for a regulatory process is a false-urgency claim rather than information. We describe the process, cite the authority and point you to the official channel. The reason it appears on a calendar-led page is only that the paperwork takes time and university deadlines do not move.

What should the first eight weeks with a new tutor actually produce?+

A written objective agreed in week one, a feedback cycle that runs every week, and a review at week four honest enough to change course. The objective names one subject and one component. The cycle means the student attempts timed work alone, it gets marked, and the session starts from the marked attempt. The week-four review checks the error log against the objective. If nothing has moved by then, change the approach or the tutor; no tutor can promise a grade, and anyone who does should be treated with real scepticism.

Send the date, the script and two windows

If you are looking for an IB home tutor in Emirates Hills, start from the calendar rather than the shortlist. Write down the date you are working towards, confirm who set it, and count the weeks that genuinely exist once travel and other deadlines are removed. Then send us the subject and level, the school and year, the component where the marks are going, that date, and two windows that work in your week, with the marked mock attached. We will match a specialist and agree a written objective for week eight before anything is paid for, and the first lesson is free. Lessons run one to one over live video.
