IB Home Tutor in Muhaisnah

Searching for an IB home tutor in Muhaisnah usually means one thing: you want somebody close by who genuinely knows the Diploma or Middle Years syllabus your child is sitting. Eastern Dubai has plenty of general tutors and very few IB subject specialists. IB Gram answers that honestly. We match your child to a specialist for their exact subject and level, and every lesson runs one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so proximity stops being the thing that limits the shortlist.

  • Matched by subject and level, not by postcode distance
  • Live one-to-one video lessons on Gulf Standard Time

IB & IGCSE in Muhaisnah

The question behind the search, answered plainly

When a parent in Muhaisnah types "IB home tutor near me" into Google, the question underneath is not really about travel. It is about competence. You want to know whether anybody within reach of Muhaisnah 1, 2, 3 or 4 actually understands how an IB Diploma grade is built, what a Mathematics exploration is marked against, or why a Chemistry student with sound notes can still land a 4. That is a fair question, and the honest answer in this part of Dubai is: fewer people than you would hope.

Muhaisnah sits in the older, denser half of Dubai, with Al Qusais on one side, Mirdif on the other and Al Nahda just over the Sharjah boundary. It is a neighbourhood of mid-rise apartment blocks and villa compounds, mostly families from India, Pakistan, the Philippines, Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon, and the schools closest to it lean heavily CBSE and British. IB Diploma provision clusters further out, towards Dubai Festival City, Nad Al Sheba and Mirdif. A family on an IB programme here is often commuting against the grain already.

That geography has a direct consequence for tutoring. The pool of private tutors who advertise locally is large, but it is dominated by CBSE and IGCSE generalists, because that is what the local demand looks like. An IB Physics HL specialist, an Economics HL examiner-trained teacher, a Visual Arts comparative study supervisor — these are not people who happen to live ten minutes from Muhaisnah Centre. They are scattered across the emirate and across the region, and the only reliable way to reach one is over video.

So this page does two things. It answers the home-tutoring question properly: what in-home IB tuition costs around eastern Dubai, what the travel premium actually buys, how the permit rules work, and how families here usually decide. Then it is straight with you about what IB Gram sells. We do not send tutors to addresses in Dubai. Home visiting is a service we run only in India. In the UAE every lesson is one-to-one over live video, scheduled to your child's week, and the reason we built it that way is precisely the supply problem described above.

The rest of the page is built to be useful even if you never contact us. There is a coverage table showing which IB subjects have local tutor availability in eastern Dubai and which do not. There is the market rate band in AED, attributed to its sources. There is the MoHRE permit position, which most tutoring sites in this market skip entirely. There is a plain statement of what a tutor may and may not do with an Internal Assessment under IB academic-honesty rules. And there is a short list of questions you can ask any tutor, local or online, in the first fifteen minutes, that will tell you whether they know the syllabus or are guessing.

At a glance

  • Muhaisnah's nearest IB Diploma schools sit in Festival City, Mirdif and Nad Al Sheba, not in the neighbourhood itself
  • Market rates for qualified IB tutors in Dubai run roughly AED 150-450 per hour depending on tier and format
  • In-home one-to-one visits are quoted higher, roughly AED 180-500, with travel built into the rate
  • Private tutoring in the UAE needs a MoHRE work permit under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, issued free for two years
  • IB Gram delivers to Muhaisnah online only; in-home visiting is an India-only service
  • A tutor may teach, question and give feedback on an IA; producing any part of it is malpractice
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Muhaisnah families arrive on this page from three different places in the IB continuum, and the tutoring job is different in each. Here is what each programme assesses and what that means for a student living in eastern Dubai.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Each subject carries an internally assessed component worth roughly a fifth of the grade, marked by the teacher against published criteria and moderated by the IB. The written papers carry the rest. A Diploma score out of 45 combines six subject grades out of 7 with up to three points from the TOK and Extended Essay matrix.

For a Muhaisnah student the DP is usually sat at a school some distance away, which makes the week tight before tutoring is even considered. The commonest request we see from this cluster is Higher Level support in one or two subjects rather than across the board, because the family has already worked out which two grades are blocking the total they need.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Eight subject groups assessed against four criteria per subject, each marked out of 8, converted to a 1-7 grade by published boundaries. There is no terminal exam unless the school opts into eAssessment. The Personal Project in the final year is assessed against its own criteria and supervised in school. Progress is judged on the most recent and most consistent evidence, not an average of everything.

Several Mirdif and Festival City schools near Muhaisnah run the MYP, and parents moving in from a CBSE or British system find the absence of marks out of 100 disorienting. Tutoring here is largely about teaching the student to read a criterion descriptor and write to it, which is a skill no amount of extra content revision supplies.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1-Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary units of inquiry rather than discrete subjects, with the Exhibition in the final year. Assessment is continuous and descriptive. Literacy and numeracy still sit underneath it, and a child can pass through the PYP with warm reports and a genuine gap in number fluency or written structure that only surfaces when the MYP starts awarding criterion marks.

PYP requests from the Muhaisnah and Al Qusais area are almost always about reading fluency or number confidence rather than the programme itself. The useful intervention is short, frequent and diagnostic: twenty-five minute sessions twice a week beat a single ninety-minute block for a nine-year-old at the end of a long school day.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

A smaller IB route combining at least two DP courses with a career-related study, a reflective project and a personal and professional skills course. Fewer UAE schools offer it than offer the Diploma, and university recognition varies by destination, so the entry requirements of the target institution matter more here than on the DP route.

CP enquiries from eastern Dubai are rare but they do come, usually from students who want two DP subjects taken seriously alongside a vocational strand. Tutoring on this route concentrates on those DP courses and on the reflective project's structure, with the career-related study handled by the school's own provider.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IB subjects Muhaisnah enquiries most often name. Each line says what the course is actually assessed on, because that is where the tutoring hours go.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Algebraic fluency under time pressure, calculus, and proof at Higher Level. Marks are lost on method presentation rather than final answers: unlabelled working, a derivative taken without stating the rule, a sketch without intercepts. The exploration adds a separate, criterion-marked piece of personal mathematics.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics, modelling and technology-heavy problem solving. The common failure is calculator dependence without interpretation: a correct regression line and no sentence saying what it means in context. HL adds matrices, graph theory and more demanding modelling.

Physics

HL and SL

Conceptual definitions, graph interpretation and uncertainty handling decide grades more than algebra does. Students lose marks writing a correct equation while describing the physics wrongly, and on data questions that ask for a gradient's meaning rather than its value.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Bonding, energetics and organic mechanisms carry the load. The reliable pattern is a student who can recall structures but cannot explain a trend, and an investigation that collects data without a measurable, controllable variable chosen early enough.

Biology

HL and SL

Command-term discipline matters here more than in any other science: outline, explain, distinguish and evaluate each want a different answer shape. Data-based questions on unfamiliar studies reward students who have practised reading a method, not memorising one.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy with full axis labels, then evaluation that weighs rather than lists. The internal assessment is a set of commentaries on real news articles, and most lost marks come from an article that cannot support the required concept, chosen before the theory was understood.

Business Management

HL and SL

Tool application to an unseen case, and for HL a research project on a real organisation. Students lose marks applying a framework generically instead of to the stimulus, and on quantitative questions that look optional until the paper arrives.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Unseen textual analysis, the individual oral built on a global issue, and for HL a comparative essay. The strongest gains come from teaching a student to write about how a text works rather than what it says, with quotations integrated into the sentence.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Paper questions on systems, networks and abstract data structures, plus a solution developed against a real client's requirements. The usual gap is a working program with thin documentation, because the write-up is what carries the criterion marks.

Psychology

HL and SL

Named studies used precisely, with method and limitation, and essays structured to a command term. The experimental study replication is where a weak hypothesis or an untestable design costs marks that no amount of later writing recovers.

Geography

HL and SL

Case-study recall with figures attached, map and graph skills, and for HL the global interactions core. Fieldwork write-ups lose marks on a question that was never geographically answerable and on data presentation that duplicates rather than develops.

Arabic B and Arabic A

HL and SL

Two different courses, often confused. Arabic B is a language-acquisition route for non-native speakers; Arabic A is a literature or language-and-literature course for first-language students. Dubai schools must also run mandatory Arabic alongside the IB, which is a third, separate requirement.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats cover almost every Muhaisnah enquiry. All three run over live video; the difference is cadence and purpose, not delivery.

Weekly one-to-one subject support

The default for a student carrying one or two subjects below where they want them. A fixed slot each week, built around the school's own assessment calendar, with work set between sessions and marked against the same criteria the school uses. Most families start with one subject and add a second only after they have seen the first move.

  • Same tutor, same slot, each week
  • Work set between sessions and reviewed
  • Progress reported against the school's assessment points
  • Single subject to start, by preference

Internal assessment and coursework coaching

Structured sessions on an exploration, investigation, commentary or Extended Essay, run strictly as teaching and feedback on the student's own draft. The tutor questions the research design, points at a criterion descriptor the draft does not yet meet, and sends the student back to write. No part of the submitted work is produced by the tutor.

  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's draft
  • Research question and methodology interrogated early
  • Referencing and academic-honesty expectations made explicit
  • Nothing written or edited to completion by the tutor

Exam-run intensive blocks

Short, dense sequences in the eight to twelve weeks before a session, built around past-paper technique rather than new content. Two sessions a week, each ending with a timed section done under exam conditions and marked against the published scheme. Suited to a student who knows the material and loses marks to pace and presentation.

  • Two sessions weekly across a fixed block
  • Timed sections marked to the published scheme
  • Command-term and working-out discipline drilled
  • Paused or stopped once the session starts

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Muhaisnah

01

What "IB home tutor in Muhaisnah" actually returns, and why

An IB home tutor in Muhaisnah, as the phrase is used in Dubai, means a private tutor who travels to a family's apartment or villa for one-to-one lessons in an IB subject. Market rates for that service in Dubai run roughly AED 180 to 500 per hour according to the published bands collected from Bestimate's 2026 tutoring-cost table and from independent home tutors advertising in the emirate. The rate includes the tutor's travel, which is why it sits above the online equivalent.

Search the phrase from Muhaisnah and you will get three kinds of result. First, directory listings that cover all of Dubai and sort by nothing useful. Second, agency pages that name every neighbourhood in the emirate in one paragraph and no school in any of them. Third, individual tutors, most of whom teach CBSE or IGCSE and list IB as a line item. What you will rarely get is a named person who teaches, say, Diploma Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level and nothing else.

That is not an accident of search ranking. It reflects the actual supply. Muhaisnah's own catchment is dominated by CBSE and British schools, so the tutors who have built a local practice here teach those systems. IB Diploma enrolment across Dubai is about 7% of private-school pupils according to the emirate's 2024-25 figures, and it is concentrated in a handful of districts, none of them this one. A specialist follows demand, and the demand is not next door.

The useful conclusion is not that local tutoring is bad. It is that the constraint worth optimising is subject match, not distance. A student doing Economics HL needs somebody who has marked Paper 3 and knows why evaluation marks go missing. Whether that person is twenty minutes away or two thousand kilometres away changes nothing about the lesson, provided the lesson is live, one-to-one and on your child's clock. That is the trade this page is asking you to consider.

02

IB subject coverage in eastern Dubai: who is actually available

This is the table no tutoring site in this market publishes, because it exposes a limit. It sets out, for the IB subjects Muhaisnah families most often ask about, whether a UAE-based specialist is usually available, roughly how long a match takes, and what happens when nobody local covers the course. The fallback is always the same mechanism: a specialist elsewhere in our network, teaching over the same live video platform on Gulf Standard Time.

Read it as a planning document. If your child needs Mathematics or Chemistry support, the local pool is deep enough that you will have a choice of tutor and a trial lesson inside a few days. If the subject is Psychology, Computer Science, Visual Arts or a less common language, expect the specialist to be outside the UAE, and expect the match to take longer because we are looking for a particular person rather than any qualified teacher.

The second column is deliberately coarse. We are describing availability of a specialist who teaches that course at that level habitually, not of anyone willing to attempt it. Plenty of competent graduates will take an IB Psychology booking; far fewer can tell a student why their experimental study's hypothesis will cost them criterion marks before the data is collected. The distinction is the whole point of the table.

Where a subject shows limited UAE availability, nothing about the price changes. The rate is set by the tutor's specialism and experience, not by which time zone they sit in. What does change is scheduling flexibility, which usually improves, because a tutor teaching from a different time zone is often available in the early evening Gulf Standard Time slot that a UAE-based teacher with a day job cannot take.

What the travel premium buys, and what it costs in Muhaisnah

Start with the gap rather than the headline. The difference between a qualified online IB tutor and an in-home visit in Dubai is roughly AED 50 to 150 an hour at comparable experience levels. Over a two-session week across a thirty-week school year that gap is somewhere between AED 3,000 and AED 9,000. The question worth asking is what the extra buys, and from a Muhaisnah address the honest answer is: a shorter walk from the front door, and a smaller shortlist.

The underlying bands, taken from published competitor pricing and from Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table, are set out below. Budget online provision, usually university students, starts around AED 45 and runs to AED 150. Qualified subject tutors working online sit roughly AED 150 to 300, with one Dubai agency publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. In-home one-to-one visits are quoted at AED 180 to 500 with travel included. IB and IGCSE specialists run AED 200 to 450 and above, and a premium examiner-branded provider has published AED 650.

Those figures are the market, not our price list. IB Gram's own commercial position is set at the consultation, after the trial lesson, once the subject, level and cadence are known, because a weekly MYP Maths slot and an eight-week DP Physics exam block are not the same product. What we will say in public is that we sit in the qualified-specialist part of the market rather than the budget part, and that the trial lesson is free and carries no obligation.

One further Muhaisnah-specific point about the travel premium. A tutor driving to Muhaisnah 2 at 5pm from Jumeirah or Dubai Marina is pricing in the Al Ittihad Road and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road peak, and will quote accordingly or decline. The practical effect is that the in-home shortlist for this neighbourhood is drawn from tutors who already live on this side of the city, which tightens it further. The tutors who can reach you cheaply are the ones whose subject spread is widest, which is usually the opposite of what an IB student needs.

Online or in-home for a Muhaisnah household: the comparison that matters

Set the sentiment aside and compare the two formats on the things that change a grade. There are five: who you can actually hire, how much lesson time survives the logistics, what happens when a session has to move, what the student does between sessions, and what you pay. On four of those five an online lesson from a Muhaisnah apartment is either equal or ahead. The fifth, supervision of a young child who will not sit still without an adult in the room, is a real advantage for in-home work and the main reason PYP families choose it.

Lesson-time survival is the underrated one. A tutor arriving at Muhaisnah 4 at 5.15pm for a 5pm booking has lost fifteen minutes, and the family who waited is not getting them back. An online session starts when the clock says so. Over a term that difference compounds into several full lessons, which is more teaching time than most families gain from any change of tutor.

Rescheduling is the second. Dubai families move sessions constantly: a school trip, a late bus, Ramadan timings, a trip to see relatives over Eid. Moving an online slot is a message. Moving an in-home visit means re-planning somebody's drive across the city, which in practice means the session is cancelled rather than moved. Continuity is most of what tutoring delivers, and the format that survives disruption keeps more of it.

Against that, be clear about what online genuinely requires. A door that closes, a device with a working camera and a stylus or writing surface the tutor can see, and a parent willing to be in the house if the student is under twelve. Without the first of those, a lesson in a busy apartment with three siblings and a television becomes a worse lesson than an in-home one, and no platform fixes that.

Is the tutor legally permitted to teach privately in the UAE?

  • Permit: MoHRE private tuition work permit, Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023
  • Cost: free of charge, valid two years
  • Route: MoHRE smart app, website or e-services; two working days stated
  • No fine schedule is published, so no amount can be quoted
  • Tutoring your own school's enrolled students is barred under ADEK ethics rules

This is a checkable fact that most tutoring sites in the market never mention. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is administered by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. It is granted free of charge for two years. Anyone offering private lessons without one is, in the ministry's own words, subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws.

Eligibility is broader than people assume. Teachers registered in government or private schools can hold it, as can employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. The application route is MoHRE's own service, listed as Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, available through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system, with a stated completion time of two working days and no published fee.

No fine amount should be quoted to you, by us or anybody else. Khaleej Times reported that the ministry did not specify the fine amounts or detail the penalties, and a figure circulating online could not be verified against any official source. If a tutoring site tells you the penalty is a specific number of dirhams, it is repeating something it cannot evidence.

There is a second rule worth knowing if your child is at school in Abu Dhabi rather than Dubai. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff bar teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct carries a similar restriction. So the apparently attractive idea of hiring your child's own subject teacher privately is, in several emirates, exactly the arrangement the rules are written to prevent. Ask any tutor whether they hold the permit. A professional will answer in one sentence.

06

What a tutor may and may not do with an IA, Extended Essay or TOK essay

  • Allowed: teaching content, unpacking criteria, questioning design, modelling on other examples
  • Allowed: feedback on the student's own draft, naming the criterion that is not yet met
  • Not allowed: writing, drafting, restructuring or finishing any submitted text
  • Not allowed: supplying a completed IA, EE or TOK essay at any price
  • The school's supervisor owns the formal process; a tutor works alongside it

This is the boundary that separates legitimate tutoring from a service that can get a student's diploma withheld. The IB's academic-honesty framework requires that work submitted for assessment is the student's own. A tutor may teach the underlying content, explain what a criterion descriptor is asking for, question a research design, point out that a paragraph does not do what the student thinks it does, and model the technique on a different example. A tutor may not write, draft, restructure or edit to completion any part of the submitted work.

In practice the line is easier to hold than it sounds, because it maps onto a simple test: after the session, who typed the sentences that will be marked? If the answer is the tutor, the work is not the student's. A good session on a Mathematics exploration ends with the student holding three specific problems to fix and no new text in the document. A bad one ends with a tidier document and a student who could not explain why it changed.

Be alert to the other end of this market. One provider found in the research for these pages sells completed Internal Assessments outright, at a published price. That is not tutoring. It is an academic-honesty breach that triggers IB malpractice procedures against the student, not the seller, and the consequence lands on the child. We will not produce assessed work, and we say so here rather than in small print.

The same applies to the Extended Essay and the TOK essay. A supervisor is allocated by the school and the formal process belongs to them; a tutor works alongside it, on research skills, argument structure, source evaluation and referencing. Where a student has a supervisor meeting coming, the most useful session is often rehearsing the questions they will be asked and preparing an honest account of their own progress.

07

Fifteen minutes that tell you whether a tutor knows the syllabus

Because the real risk in this neighbourhood is not distance but competence, here is a practical screening method. Ask six questions in the first fifteen minutes of any trial lesson, local or online. None requires you to understand the subject. All six have answers that a genuine IB specialist gives instantly and a generalist cannot fake.

First: what are the papers for this subject at this level, and what does each one weigh? A specialist answers in numbers. Second: what is the internally assessed component called in this subject, and what are its criteria? Note the wording changes by subject, and a tutor who says "the coursework" has told you something. Third: name two command terms that students confuse, and what each demands. Fourth: where in this syllabus do students at my child's current grade most often lose marks? A useful answer is topic-specific, not "exam technique".

Fifth: what will you not do with my child's internal assessment? The answer you want is unprompted and firm. Sixth: what should my child be able to do by the end of six sessions that they cannot do today? This one tests whether the tutor plans or improvises, and a specialist will narrow it rather than widen it: not "improve in Physics" but "handle uncertainty propagation and gradient-meaning questions without prompting".

Run the same six questions past two tutors and the difference is usually obvious within ten minutes. It is a better filter than any credential list, because credentials describe where somebody has been and these questions describe what they can do on Tuesday. Our trial lesson exists for exactly this: you should be using it to interrogate the match, not to be sold to.

08

KHDA, the mandatory UAE subjects, and what they do to an IB week

Dubai's private schools are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which the UAE government describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. KHDA inspects annually on a six-band scale running from Outstanding to Very Weak, and publishes the reports. If you are choosing between schools near Muhaisnah, the inspection report is the single most informative free document available to you, and it names subject-level performance rather than giving one verdict.

KHDA also sets a requirement that reshapes the week of every IB student in Dubai, including yours. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with the requirement to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and combined classes for both groups are prohibited because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ.

The instructional time for those subjects is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, schools may vary lesson length provided the weekly total is met, and KHDA advises that any mandatory subject lesson runs at least 25 minutes. Teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic must hold appropriate KHDA approval for those subjects. For the mandatory subjects, using different or additional content without prior Ministry of Education permission is prohibited, which is a real constraint on how any Arabic or Islamic Education support can be described.

The practical consequence for a Muhaisnah Diploma student is that the timetable is already fuller than the six IB subjects suggest, and the hour you add has to come from somewhere. This is why we push families towards one subject at a time and towards the specific failure mode rather than general revision. A student carrying six IB courses, TOK, an Extended Essay, CAS and three mandatory UAE subjects does not have room for two hours of unfocused tutoring a week, and adding it tends to cost more in sleep than it returns in marks.

09

Starting, and the honest version of what happens next

The sequence is short. You tell us the subject, the level, the school and what specifically is going wrong, with the last report or marked paper if you have one. We identify a specialist for that course and level, not a generalist, and offer a trial lesson at a time that works around the school run. The trial is free and nothing is charged until after it. If the match is wrong, you say so and we look again; a mismatch found in week one costs nothing and a mismatch tolerated for a term costs the year.

What we will not do is tell you a specialist is available when they are not. If your child needs Diploma Visual Arts or Arabic A literature at Higher Level, the match may take a week or two and may be a tutor outside the UAE teaching on Gulf Standard Time over the same platform. We will say that upfront rather than booking you with whoever is free, because a Physics teacher taking a Psychology booking is how families lose a term and conclude that tutoring does not work.

There are also cases where the honest answer is that tutoring is not the right purchase. A student six weeks from a session with four subjects below target usually needs triage and a conversation with their school, not four tutors. A student whose marked papers show the content is known but the timing collapses needs an exam-run block, not a year-long weekly slot. A student who is not sleeping needs neither. We would rather say that at the consultation than sell a package that cannot work.

Finally, the practical note for Muhaisnah specifically. Build the slot around the commute rather than the clock. If the school run gets your child home at 4.45pm, a 4.30pm booking will fail every week and you will blame the tutor. The slots that hold in this neighbourhood are 6pm and 7.30pm on weekdays, and mid-morning on Saturday, and a session that holds is worth more than a session at the theoretically ideal hour.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Muhaisnah

Muhaisnah is one of several eastern Dubai communities we take enquiries from, and the practical picture is similar across them: dense residential stock, long school runs, and IB provision concentrated elsewhere in the emirate.

Muhaisnah

Four numbered sub-communities off Al Awir Road, mixing apartment blocks, villa compounds and labour accommodation. Families here typically school in Al Qusais, Mirdif or Festival City rather than inside the neighbourhood.

Al Qusais

The nearest school-dense district, strong on CBSE and British provision and served by the Red Line. School end times here drive when a Muhaisnah family can realistically start an evening session.

Mirdif

Villa communities east of Muhaisnah with IB continuum provision and several British schools. The Mirdif school run adds twenty to thirty minutes each way in the afternoon peak.

Al Nahda

On the Sharjah boundary, and the reason afternoon traffic on Al Ittihad Road behaves the way it does. Families living here but schooling in Dubai lose the most time to the commute.

Al Mizhar

Quieter villa district between Mirdif and Al Khawaneej, with a mix of British and American schools nearby and almost no in-neighbourhood tutoring supply.

Dubai Festival City

Home to two of the closest IB schools to Muhaisnah, one running the full continuum. Many of our eastern Dubai Diploma enquiries come from families schooling here.

Al Warqa

Large villa area south of Mirdif with substantial CBSE provision. Students transferring from CBSE into MYP or DP often arrive with strong content and unfamiliar assessment habits.

Al Garhoud

Older established district near the airport with long-standing schools and good road access to Festival City. Sessions after 6pm work better here than a 4.30pm start.

International City

Dense apartment district south-east of Muhaisnah. Families here are often price-sensitive and benefit most from the lower end of the online market rather than any in-home option.

Nad Al Hamar

Between Rashidiya and Mirdif, with quick access to Festival City schools. A practical catchment for the same IB schools Muhaisnah families use.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Muhaisnah

Festival City, Garhoud and Rashidiya

The closest cluster to Muhaisnah with genuine IB Diploma provision, reachable along Al Rebat Street and the Garhoud bridge approaches. Students we support in eastern Dubai frequently attend schools in this group.

  • Deira International School
  • Universal American School
  • Al Mawakeb School, Al Garhoud
  • The Sheffield Private School
  • Dubai Gem Private School

Al Qusais, Mirdif and Al Warqa

The school-dense ring immediately around Muhaisnah, heavier on British and Indian curricula with IB continuum provision in Mirdif. School end times across this group set the earliest workable session slot for most families here.

  • Uptown International School
  • Dubai Scholars Private School
  • The Millennium School, Dubai
  • Our Own English High School, Al Warqa
  • Star International School, Mirdif
  • GEMS Westminster School, Al Qusais

Schools are named here as context for the neighbourhood's education ecosystem; no affiliation, endorsement or relationship with any named school is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Tell us the exact course

Subject, level, year group, school and the specific problem, with the last report or a marked paper if you have one. "Maths HL, DP1, dropped from a 5 to a 3 after the calculus unit" gets a better match in a day than "needs help with maths" gets in a week.

  2. 02

We find the specialist, not a generalist

We look for a tutor who teaches that course at that level habitually. Where the UAE pool does not cover it, we say so and match a specialist elsewhere in the network teaching over the same platform on Gulf Standard Time, rather than filling the slot with whoever is available.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson around the school run

A full one-to-one lesson at a time that survives the Muhaisnah commute, with no payment taken and no obligation afterwards. Use it to ask the six screening questions on this page; the trial exists to test the match, not to close a sale.

  4. 04

Agree a cadence and a target

One subject, a fixed weekly slot, and a specific thing the student should be able to do in six sessions. Written work set between sessions and marked before the next one, against the same criteria the school applies.

  5. 05

Review at session six, and change if needed

A short review against the thing you agreed, using the student's own marked work rather than impressions. If the match is wrong, we change the tutor. If tutoring is not the lever, we say that too, and we would rather lose the booking than keep a slot that is not moving anything.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Subject match beats proximity

The constraint in eastern Dubai is specialist supply, not travel time. Matching on the exact course and level, rather than on who can drive to Muhaisnah by 5pm, is the single change that most improves the quality of the teaching hour you buy.

Coverage limits stated, not hidden

The coverage table on this page names the subjects where UAE-based specialists are thin and where the match will come from outside the country. Several providers in this market conceal non-UAE delivery behind a local-looking contact number; we would rather publish the limit.

Market rates published with sources

Every AED figure on this page is attributed to the provider or rate table that published it, with the month it was collected. Three of six ranking competitors publish no price at all, and two quote in US dollars, which is not the currency a Dubai family transacts in.

Academic honesty treated as a line, not a feature

A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback on the student's own work. We will not produce an IA, Extended Essay or TOK essay at any price, and we state the boundary on the page because the alternative puts the student, not the provider, in front of an IB malpractice panel.

Lessons that survive a Dubai week

Slots move, buses run late, Ramadan shifts the evening, families travel for Eid. An online slot can be rescheduled with a message, which is why continuity holds across a term. Continuity, not intensity, is what most families are actually buying.

No regulator claimed as an endorsement

We explain what KHDA, ADEK, SPEA and the Ministry of Education do, and link parents to them. IB Gram holds no accreditation, licence or partnership from any of them, and any tutoring site telling you it is KHDA-approved is making a claim you should ask it to evidence.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Muhaisnah: your questions answered

Is there actually an IB home tutor in Muhaisnah who knows the Diploma syllabus?+

There are IB tutors who will travel to Muhaisnah, but the pool of genuine subject specialists living on this side of Dubai is small, and it thins sharply above Standard Level. The schools nearest Muhaisnah lean CBSE and British, so the local private-tutoring market reflects that. IB Gram does not send tutors to Dubai addresses at all; we match your child to a specialist for their exact course and level and teach one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. The honest version is that the person who knows your child's syllabus best is probably not within driving distance, and that this matters less than it sounds.

Why does IB Gram not offer in-home visits anywhere in the UAE?+

Because the thing that limits a UAE family's result is which specialist they can reach, not how far that specialist travels. Restricting the shortlist to tutors who can drive to Muhaisnah by five in the evening removes most of the people who teach a given IB course at Higher Level for a living. Home visiting is a service we run only in India, where the supply geography is different. In the UAE every lesson is live, one-to-one and over video, scheduled around the school run, and the free trial lesson lets you test whether the format works for your child before anything is paid.

What do in-home IB tutors charge around eastern Dubai?+

Published market bands put in-home one-to-one visits in Dubai at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour, with Bestimate's 2026 rate table quoting 180 to 350 and independent home tutors advertising 200 to 500. Monthly in-home packages of four two-hour visits have been published at AED 1,599 to 1,799. Qualified tutors working online sit lower, roughly AED 150 to 300, with one Dubai agency publishing IB from AED 200. Those are other providers' figures, collected in October 2026, not ours. IB Gram's own position is set after the free trial, once the subject, level and cadence are known.

Does my child's tutor need a UAE permit to teach privately?+

Yes. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, free of charge, valid for two years. Eligible holders include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. Applications go through MoHRE's smart app, website or e-services, with a stated two-working-day completion time. Anyone tutoring without the permit is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine amount is published, so treat any specific dirham figure you see online as unverified.

Which IB schools are closest to Muhaisnah?+

The nearest Diploma provision sits in Dubai Festival City, with Mirdif and Nad Al Sheba next closest. Deira International School and Universal American School are both in Festival City, and Uptown International School in Mirdif runs the IB continuum. None of these is inside Muhaisnah itself, which is one reason the neighbourhood's own tutoring market is dominated by CBSE and British curriculum teachers. We name these schools as neighbourhood context only; no affiliation or endorsement is implied, and the KHDA inspection report for any school is the document worth reading before you choose.

How quickly can you find a tutor for a Muhaisnah student?+

It depends entirely on the subject. Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology at either level usually reach a trial lesson within two to five days, because the specialist pool is deep. Physics HL, Economics HL and English A at Higher Level typically take four to eight days. Psychology, Computer Science, Visual Arts and the less commonly taught languages can take one to two weeks, because we are looking for a particular person rather than any qualified teacher, and that person is often outside the UAE. We would rather tell you the wait than fill the slot badly.

How far can a tutor go in helping with my child's Internal Assessment?+

A tutor can teach the content, explain what each criterion is asking for, interrogate the research question and design, and give feedback on the student's own draft, naming exactly which descriptor is not yet met. A tutor cannot write, draft, restructure or edit any part of the submitted work. The test is simple: after a session, the student should be holding specific problems to fix and the document should contain no new sentences the tutor supplied. Providers selling completed Internal Assessments exist in this market; buying one puts the student in front of an IB malpractice panel, not the seller.

My child is in MYP at a Mirdif school and the reports make no sense to me. Can tutoring help with that?+

Yes, and it is one of the commonest requests from this part of Dubai. MYP subjects are assessed against four criteria, each marked out of 8, converted to a 1-7 grade by published boundaries, with no percentage anywhere. Families arriving from CBSE or a British system often read a criterion mark as a score out of eight and conclude their child is failing. The useful tutoring work is teaching the student to read a descriptor and write to it deliberately, which lifts marks without adding content. Ask the school for the subject's criteria and the task-specific clarifications first.

Is online tutoring really as effective for a child in a busy Muhaisnah apartment?+

It depends on one controllable thing: whether the student has a door that closes and a device the tutor can see work on. With those, an online session delivers the full booked time and the written work can be marked before the next slot. Without them, a lesson competing with three siblings and a television is worse than any alternative. If your home cannot provide a quiet corner for an hour, say so at the consultation and we will talk about timing instead, because a 7.30pm slot after dinner often solves what no platform can.

How many sessions before I can tell whether it is working?+

Six, assessed against something you agreed in advance rather than a feeling. At the consultation we name one concrete capability the student should have by session six, such as handling uncertainty propagation without prompting, or structuring an evaluation paragraph that weighs rather than lists. At session six you look at the student's own marked work against that target. If it has not moved, the match or the diagnosis is wrong and we change it. Judging tutoring by the next school report is too slow, because the report arrives after the term you were trying to fix.

Can the same tutor cover two IB subjects for my child?+

Occasionally, and usually it is a bad idea. Mathematics and Physics is the one pairing where a single specialist genuinely works, because the overlap in technique is real. Chemistry and Biology sounds similar but is not; the assessment habits differ and the organic chemistry mechanisms that eat a Chemistry student's hours have no Biology equivalent. A tutor who offers to cover four subjects is telling you they are a generalist. For a Diploma student, one subject properly taught by somebody who knows that syllabus beats two subjects covered by somebody who knows neither.

Do the mandatory Arabic and Islamic Education lessons affect my child's IB timetable?+

Yes, substantially. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, and KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, with combined classes prohibited. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. The practical effect is that a Diploma student's week is fuller than six subjects plus TOK suggests, which is why we recommend starting with one tutored subject rather than three and targeting a specific failure rather than general revision.

Does IB Gram hold a KHDA permit, and does it matter for an online lesson?+

No, and you should be wary of any tutoring provider that says it is. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific authorisation issued to training institutes with premises and staff in Dubai, involving initial approval, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. IB Gram holds no accreditation, licence or partnership from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. We explain what those bodies do and link to them; none of them endorses us. Ask any provider claiming approval to show the permit number.

What should I send you to get a useful match first time?+

Four things. The exact course title and level as the school writes it, because "Maths HL" splits into Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation and the tutors are different. The year group and the school. The most recent marked paper or report, which tells a specialist more in two minutes than a paragraph of description. And the two or three time slots that genuinely survive your school run, not the ones you wish worked. With those four, we can usually name a specialist and a trial time in the same reply.

What happens if there is no specialist available for my child's subject at all?+

We tell you, and we tell you when we expect that to change. For a handful of Diploma courses, particularly Visual Arts, Film, Theatre and some first-language literature options, the specialist pool is genuinely small and a match can take a fortnight. We will not put a Physics teacher into a Psychology slot to avoid an awkward email. If we cannot cover the course properly, the honest recommendation is usually the school's own subject teacher, the IB coordinator, or a short conversation about which of your child's six subjects is the one actually worth buying help for.

A specialist for the syllabus, from a Muhaisnah address

If you have reached the bottom of this page you are probably still weighing distance against expertise. The answer we would give any family in Muhaisnah is to stop weighing it. Pick the person who teaches your child's exact course and level, book the slot that survives the school run, and let the lesson happen over live video on Gulf Standard Time. Tell us the subject, the level, the school and what is actually going wrong, send the last marked paper if you have one, and we will come back with a named specialist and a free trial lesson. Nothing is charged before that lesson, and if the match is wrong you say so and we look again.
