IB Home Tutor in Mohammed Bin Rashid City

Ask for an IB home tutor in Mohammed Bin Rashid City and the quotes come back at the top of the Dubai band, usually without explanation. The reason is the district itself: large plots, long internal drives and gated access, which turn a short distance on a map into forty minutes of a tutor's evening. This page prices that premium honestly, shows how to read the four quotes you will receive, and sets out what a two-child household actually spends. Lessons are one-to-one and online.

  • The district's travel premium explained and priced in AED
  • Four typical quote structures decoded, with what each conceals

IB & IGCSE in Mohammed Bin Rashid City

Why the quotes to this address come back high, and what to do about it

Families in Mohammed Bin Rashid City notice something when they start ringing round for a Diploma tutor: the numbers are higher than the ones friends in Downtown or Business Bay were quoted for the same subject. It is not imagination and it is not a judgement about the district's ability to pay. It is geography priced into an hourly rate, and once you see the mechanism the decision becomes much easier to make.

The district is built around large plots and generous internal road layouts, with villa communities set back behind gated access and a limited number of entry points. For a tutor driving from Al Barsha or Jumeirah at four in the afternoon, the last two kilometres can take as long as the first twelve. Add the second visit of the evening somewhere else and the arithmetic is simple: a tutor working here fits fewer sessions into an evening than one working in a tower community, so the rate per session rises to compensate.

The Dubai market bands show the result. In-home one-to-one runs roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour, with travel inside the figure, and quotes to large-villa districts cluster towards the upper half of that range. Qualified subject tutors working online sit at about AED 150 to 300 an hour, specialists at AED 200 to 450 and above, and budget online tutors are advertised from around AED 33 to 65. Monthly packages seen in the market run around AED 799 for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. Those are other providers' published figures, read in October 2026, and they are market context rather than IB Gram's price list.

What matters is that the premium is paid for a drive rather than for teaching. There is no mechanism by which navigating District One's internal roads improves anyone's grasp of Higher Level Economics. Worse, the premium narrows the field: the tutors willing to make the journey are a small subset of those who could teach the subject, so a family here can pay the top of the band and still get a generalist. That is the trade this page sets out to make visible.

IB Gram delivers Diploma tuition to Mohammed Bin Rashid City as one-to-one lessons over live video on Gulf Standard Time, matched to the subject and level rather than to the postcode. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we offer only in India, which is also why no travel component sits inside what you pay us. The sections below decode the quotes you will receive, cost a two-child household, and say where the money is wasted in a house this size.

At a glance

  • Large plots and gated access turn short distances into long journeys at 4pm
  • In-home quotes to villa districts cluster in the upper half of the AED 180-500 band
  • The premium buys travel, not subject knowledge, and narrows the tutor pool
  • Two-child households should price per child per subject, not per visit
  • All lessons one-to-one and online; no IB Gram home visits anywhere in the UAE
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

What a household should spend depends on the programme stage rather than only on the subject. These three contexts carry different cost profiles, and confusing them is why families here overspend in one year and underspend in the one that counted.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level and three at Standard, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Each subject carries an internal assessment and the deadlines cluster rather than spreading evenly, so the weeks when one subject needs most attention are the weeks the student has least to give. This is the stage where the amounts are largest and where allocating a fixed budget well matters more than negotiating a rate.

Diploma provision within reach of Mohammed Bin Rashid City is good, with IB schools in the district and immediately around it. The pool of tutors willing to drive into a gated villa community at four in the afternoon is a different matter, and that gap, rather than any shortage of teaching talent in Dubai, is what the local premium prices.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Criterion-assessed rather than examined, with the Personal Project in the final year. This is the stage where tutoring is cheapest to make count and where most households spend nothing, then pay for it in DP1. A short block securing algebraic fluency or writing structure in Year 9 costs a fraction of the remedial work the same gap demands two years later under examination pressure.

Several schools serving this district run MYP and then offer both the Diploma and A Levels, so the end of MYP is a genuine fork. One session testing readiness for a Higher Level subject, rather than a term of general support, prevents the most expensive misplacement available in the whole programme.

PYPAges 3-11 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Inquiry-led and transdisciplinary, ending in the exhibition. The honest cost advice is to spend little and narrowly: a defined block on reading fluency or number facts, then stop. Weekly one-to-one tuition across a primary year is the least efficient purchase in this market and among the most commonly sold, particularly in districts where households can absorb it without noticing.

Villa communities with young families attract a lot of local tutoring supply aimed at primary ages, often sold as ongoing support. We will tell a primary parent here that a four-session block is enough when it is, which costs us the recurring revenue and is the correct advice.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

A Diploma budget is spent subject by subject, so allocation is the real question. These are the courses we cover for Mohammed Bin Rashid City families, each noted for where marks are genuinely lost, because that determines whether a session is worth a specialist rate.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Expensive to leave and cheap to fix early. Paper 1 is sat without a calculator, exposing algebraic fluency, and Higher Level adds a third paper with its own style of extended problem that needs its own sessions.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics and modelling led, with calculator competence examinable. Losses sit in explaining output the student can generate, which is a technique problem and therefore among the cheaper things to correct.

Economics

HL and SL

Popular in this district and deceptively demanding at Higher Level. Diagram accuracy and evaluation depth separate the bands, and the internal assessment commentaries collide with other subjects' deadlines in DP1.

Business Management

HL and SL

Frameworks are easy and evaluation is not. A student applying a tool without weighing it sits mid-band indefinitely, which is a technique loss and the cheapest category of problem to address.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Two papers plus an independent investigation worth a fifth of the grade. Equilibrium reasoning, organic mechanism detail and significant figures in the data-based section are the reliable losses.

Physics

HL and SL

Weak algebra costs Physics marks unrelated to physics, so a maths block can be charged against two grades. Uncertainty treatment is the least-taught and most-penalised area at both levels.

Biology

HL and SL

Terminology precision outweighs calculation. A fluent but imprecise writer plateaus, and command-term discipline moves the grade faster than additional content coverage.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Carries the Individual Oral and the Higher Level essay. Describing texts rather than analysing construction is the standard loss, and it responds to a short targeted block rather than a year of sessions.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Few tutors teach it, so it carries a scarcity cost rather than a difficulty cost. Support is structural: reading the prescribed title, building an argument, locating where the instrument awards marks.

Extended Essay

Core

Four thousand words of independent research. The best money spent is one early session narrowing the question, because a bad question cannot be rescued later by any number of paid hours.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, all one-to-one and online, described by what a block costs over a period rather than by the hour. For a cost decision the relevant number is the block total and its end date.

Weekly subject tuition

One subject, one tutor, one slot, four to five sessions a month. The lowest-cost format that reliably moves a Diploma grade, because it leaves room for practice between sessions and lets the tutor check whether the practice happened. Over two terms it costs less than most households here expect and more than they budget for in a single month, which is why the block total matters more than the rate.

  • Four to five sessions a month in one named subject at one level
  • Named practice after each session, marked before the next
  • Half-term review against whether the grade is actually moving
  • Slot set after the school run, typically 4pm to 8pm Gulf Standard Time

Internal assessment and core block

Three to five sessions around an internal assessment, the Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge. The highest return per dirham in the Diploma, because a question narrowed properly in one session prevents a term of work on something unanswerable. The student chooses the question, does the work and writes the text; we explain criteria and give written feedback on their own drafts.

  • Three to five sessions, fixed from the outset
  • Criteria explained in the language the examiner uses
  • Written feedback on the student's own draft; never rewriting
  • Timed to the school's internal deadline rather than ours

Pre-session intensive

Two or three sessions a week for six to ten weeks before the examination session. The highest monthly figure on this page and the shortest commitment, which is what makes it defensible. Content order comes from the student's own marked mock, and some topics are deliberately abandoned because the window is short rather than because ambition is lacking.

  • Eight to twelve sessions a month for an agreed number of weeks
  • First session spent marking the mock question by question
  • Whole papers under timed conditions in the subject's own format
  • Fixed end date in writing, with no automatic renewal

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Mohammed Bin Rashid City

01

What actually drives a quote to this district

A tutoring quote is built from components, and almost nobody itemises them. The table below does, with market figures attributed to the providers that published them. Read it to see which components apply to your household and which do not, because a quote that bundles everything together makes it impossible to tell what you are declining when you decline a visit.

The component that dominates in Mohammed Bin Rashid City is access time. A tutor's working evening is finite: between four and eight o'clock there are four hours, and a session plus a journey at each end consumes more of them here than in a tower community. A tutor who can fit three sessions into an evening in Business Bay and two here has to price accordingly, and that is a rational response rather than opportunism.

The second component is scarcity of willingness, which compounds the first. Subject specialists in short supply, such as Theory of Knowledge or Higher Level mathematics with Paper 3 experience, have no need to accept a long journey when nearer work exists. So the further a household sits from the city's teaching concentrations, the more likely it is that the in-home option delivers a generalist at a specialist price. That is the part a quote never itemises and the part worth knowing.

The third and smallest component is the one parents assume is largest: teaching skill. In this market price tracks delivery model and claimed credentials rather than observed outcomes, because outcomes are not visible at the point of purchase. The practical consequence is that comparing quotes tells you little, and comparing behaviour in a trial lesson tells you a great deal.

02

The four quotes you will get, and how to read each one

Ring round for a Diploma tutor from this district and you will receive roughly four shapes of quote. They are not comparable as printed, which is the problem, so here is how to normalise them before you decide. Each has a legitimate use and each conceals something different, and knowing which is which saves more than any negotiation.

The first is a plain hourly rate for a home visit, usually at the upper half of the band because of the access time described above. The second is a monthly in-home package, commonly around AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits, which looks like a discount and is actually a commitment: ask what happens to a visit you cancel and whether unused visits carry forward. The third is a per-session online rate, which is the cleanest to compare because nothing is bundled into it.

The fourth is a monthly online package, advertised in this market around AED 799 for eight sessions. Note the unit carefully, because eight sessions is not eight hours unless the session length is stated, and that distinction accounts for most of the confusion in this market. Normalise everything to a cost per teaching hour, then ask what each quote includes by way of marked practice between sessions, written feedback, and replacement if the match fails.

One further warning specific to comparison shopping. A quote that will not state where the tutor is based should be treated with caution, not because teaching from outside the UAE is a problem but because concealing it is. Several providers ranking for Dubai queries present a local appearance while routing families elsewhere, sometimes behind a non-UAE phone number or a price in US dollars. Ask directly; a straight answer costs nothing to give.

Two children, one budget: the arithmetic nobody publishes

Villa districts tend to house families with more than one school-age child, and the tutoring market is priced per student rather than per household. That means the point at which tutoring stops being proportionate arrives sooner here than the per-hour figures suggest, and it arrives without anybody doing the sum.

Take a plausible case: one child in DP1 needing maths support and one in Year 10 needing science. At qualified-tutor online rates of roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, two weekly sessions is eight to ten sessions a month and a figure in the low to middle four figures. At in-home rates of AED 180 to 500 with the district premium, the same arrangement moves into territory that competes with a term's school fees. The teaching has not changed; the number of journeys has doubled.

There are two sensible responses and one false economy. The first sensible response is sequencing: fund the child with the time-critical need now, usually the one closer to an examination session or an internal assessment deadline, and the other next term. The second is finding the shared cause, because siblings in the same household often have the same gap, and an algebra block can be charged against two children's grades in two different year groups.

The false economy is putting two children in one session to halve the cost. It sounds efficient and it rarely works: different year groups, different specifications, different weaknesses, and a session where each child is idle half the time. The exception is genuinely parallel need, such as two siblings in the same year group sitting the same specification with the same named gap, which does occur and is worth asking about rather than assuming.

Online against a home visit to a large-plot villa

With the components itemised, the comparison can be made properly rather than as advocacy. For a household in this district the decisive variables are access time, the breadth of the tutor pool, what happens when a session has to move, and whether a person in the room is genuinely required.

Access time favours online absolutely, and in this district by more than anywhere else in the corridor. The session starts when the student is ready rather than when a tutor has cleared the gate, which on a weekday afternoon can be the difference between a four o'clock start and a quarter past five. An alert student at four is worth more per dirham than a tired one at six, and that is a quality point rather than a convenience one.

Pool breadth favours online decisively, because the choice becomes every available specialist rather than those prepared to make the drive. Rescheduling favours online by a wide margin: a cancelled in-home visit wastes a journey and is often charged, while an online session moves inside the same week at no cost to anyone. Across a Diploma year containing mocks, travel, school trips and illness, that difference alone accounts for several sessions' worth of money.

The variable that genuinely favours a home visit is presence, and for a younger child or a teenager who will not work unless someone is physically there it can be decisive. We will not argue that away. To be unambiguous: IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE, so the choice here is between our online delivery and a local arrangement you would make yourself, with this page's bands to judge it by.

Where the money goes to waste in a household like this one

  • Duration bought before any diagnosis exists
  • Specialist rates paid for homework supervision
  • Three subjects funded for one underlying weakness
  • The access premium paid where presence changes nothing
  • Blocks renewing by default rather than ending on an agreed date
  • The loudest need funded ahead of the time-critical one

Districts where tutoring is affordable without careful thought are districts where it is most often wasted, and that is a statement about budgets rather than about parents. When a monthly figure can be absorbed without noticing, the discipline that makes tutoring work tends to be absent, because nothing forces the question of whether it is working.

The largest waste is duration bought before diagnosis: weekly sessions booked after a disappointing report, continuing for two years, with nobody ever establishing what is actually losing marks. The second is paying a specialist rate for homework supervision, which is a genuine service and not a specialist one. The third is funding three subjects when one weakness underlies all three, typically algebra under maths and two sciences, or writing structure under two essay subjects.

The fourth is specific to this district: paying the access premium in subjects where presence changes nothing, which at Diploma level is nearly all of them. The fifth is the block that renews because stopping feels like a risk, long after its purpose was met. And the sixth is buying support for the child who complains loudest rather than the one with the time-critical deadline, which is understandable and still the wrong order.

What all six share is that none of them feels like waste while it is happening. A session that is attended and politely delivered looks like progress, because attendance is easy to observe and diagnosis is not. The remedy is mechanical: write down at the start what the block is for, and check at six weeks whether that specific thing has changed. If it has not, change the plan rather than extending it.

06

Counted backwards from the May session: when the money works

UAE IB schools sit the May examination session, and spending decisions make far more sense read backwards from it than forwards from today. The deadlines that constrain a Diploma student are set mostly by the school rather than by the IB, which surprises families who assume the opposite and then meet an internal assessment deadline months before anything the IB publishes.

Two cautions before using the table. We do not publish specific IB examination or results dates on these pages. The IB holds those, and your child's Diploma coordinator holds the school's internal versions, which govern internal assessments, Extended Essay drafts and Theory of Knowledge submissions. Confirm every date with the coordinator rather than with a tutoring website, including this one, and treat an internal deadline as firm from the moment it is announced.

Read for spending, the calendar gives a simple rule. Spend small and early on anything irreversible, such as an internal assessment question or an Extended Essay focus. Spend moderately and steadily through DP1 on a diagnosed weakness. Spend heavily and briefly in the final window if the mock says you must, then stop. The pattern that fails is the inverse: nothing in DP1, panic in DP2, and a large open-ended commitment made in the month when there is least time for it to work.

One scheduling point worth asking about in advance. Internal assessment deadlines in different subjects cluster, and they cluster near the Extended Essay deadline, so the weeks when a subject most needs attention are the weeks the student has least to give. A coordinator can usually say where those collisions fall for a cohort. Knowing it in DP1 lets you move a block earlier rather than bidding for evenings that are already committed.

KHDA, the fee freeze and judging whether the spend is working

Dubai's private schools are overseen by KHDA, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, described on u.ae as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Annual inspection runs on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak, published school by school, and the departmental commentary inside a report is a free second opinion on whether a weak grade reflects the student or the provision.

The cost context this year is unusual. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. Dubai's private sector served 387,441 students across 227 schools in 2024-25 across seventeen curricula, and the 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places.

With the largest education line flat, a tutoring figure is more visible in a household budget than usual, so here is the test. At six weeks you should be able to see three things: a written statement of what was costing marks, marked practice showing that specific thing improving, and a mark or grade trend in the subject. If all three are absent, the spend is not working however agreeable the sessions are. The test requires no subject knowledge, which is exactly why it is the one to use.

On credentials, plainly: IB Gram is not KHDA approved, ADEK approved or IB accredited, and does not claim to be. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific licence issued to training institutes with premises in Dubai, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. Any service describing its individual tutors with that phrase is referring to something else or saying something untrue.

08

What is not for sale here at any price

A page about cost has to name the place where the cheapest-looking option is the most expensive. At least one operator ranking for UAE IB queries sells completed Internal Assessments at a published price. To a household under deadline pressure that can look like a solution with a known cost, which is precisely why it is dangerous. Submitting work that is not the student's own is academic misconduct under IB rules, the student bears the consequence, which can be the loss of the Diploma, and the website bears none of it.

What is legitimately for sale is substantial and good value. A tutor may explain the assessment criteria in the language the examiner uses, question a research question until it is answerable with the resources available, warn that a method will generate too little data, teach the underlying content, and give written feedback on a draft the student has written. Those interventions sit at the top of this page's value ordering precisely because they are cheap relative to their effect.

What is not available from us at any rate is choosing the question, supplying the method or the data, writing any part of the text, or editing a draft into its final form, and nor will we hand over a worked example close enough to the student's own task that copying becomes the obvious next step. We state this to the student in the first session rather than in small print, because a sixteen-year-old under pressure deserves the boundary before they are standing on it.

We also do not reproduce or distribute IB syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade-boundary tables, and we do not host them for download. We reference them and link to the official source. That costs nothing, is the lawful position, and is more useful anyway, because the official version is the current one while a stale file circulating in a parents' group is a reliable route to revising withdrawn content.

09

Getting started from Mohammed Bin Rashid City

Begin by naming a figure. Tell us what you are willing to spend monthly and for how long, alongside the subject, the level, the latest grade and the teacher's last comment quoted rather than summarised. A service that does not ask about the budget will recommend more sessions than you need, because recommending more is always the safer answer for them rather than for you.

If there are two children, say so at the outset and say which deadline is closer. Sequencing by time-criticality is usually the right answer with a fixed budget, and it is a decision best made before either child has started rather than halfway through a term when stopping one feels like a punishment.

We then propose a tutor and run a free trial lesson, which is a diagnosis rather than a sales call. Afterwards ask for a written statement of what is costing marks and what the block is for. If that statement is general, do not book at any rate, because without it there is nothing to check at six weeks and no way to tell a working arrangement from a comfortable one.

And the honest part. Availability is finite and some Diploma areas are thinner than others: Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay supervision, Higher Level mathematics with Paper 3 experience, and second languages beyond the common ones. When the right tutor is not free at your preferred time we say so and offer a different slot, a short wait, or a tutor based outside the UAE teaching the same syllabus to Gulf Standard Time. We will not substitute a related subject or level and charge the same rate.

Where we tutor

Mohammed Bin Rashid City and the districts around it

This district sits between Meydan and Al Quoz and contains several distinct communities. These notes are about what each does to a tutoring quote and to a session time, rather than about the architecture.

District One

Large plots, long internal roads and gated access, which is the single clearest driver of a high in-home quote in this part of Dubai. Online delivery removes the entire component.

Sobha Hartland

Denser towers and villas inside the wider district, with two schools on site. Quotes here are lower than District One's for the same work, purely because access is quicker.

Meydan

Immediately west and sharing schools with this district. A tutor already visiting Meydan may extend to here more cheaply, so it is worth asking whether they have existing clients nearby.

Nad Al Sheba

Established IB provision a short drive south and one of the few nearby communities where teaching staff actually live, which occasionally produces a lower quote.

Al Quoz

The corridor's tuition-centre district, immediately north-west. Group classes there are the cheapest format reachable from here and reasonable for a shared topic gap.

Business Bay

Towers with short access times, which is why quotes there sit lower than here for identical teaching. Useful as the comparison that shows the premium is about access.

Downtown Dubai

Shortest journeys in the corridor and the lowest in-home quotes nearby. Families who have moved here from Downtown usually notice the quote difference immediately.

Al Jaddaf

Near the creek crossings with IB continuum provision, and a short run from this district outside peak hours. Relevant mainly for where the schools are rather than the tutors.

School ecosystem

Al Quoz, Al Barsha and Al Jaddaf

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Name the monthly figure and the number of children

Say what you are willing to spend and for how long, and whether more than one child is involved. A household here is often quoted per student without anyone doing the household sum, which is where proportionality quietly disappears.

    Normalise the quotes before comparing

Convert every quote you have to a cost per teaching hour, including packages, and ask what each includes by way of marked practice, written feedback and replacement if the match fails. Any quote that will not state the tutor's location should be set aside.

  3. 03

    Fund the irreversible things first

Internal assessment and Extended Essay question reviews are one or two sessions each and cannot be substituted for later at any price. We suggest those before weekly tuition even though weekly tuition is the larger sale.

  4. 04

Free trial lesson, then ask for it in writing

The first session costs nothing. Ask for a written statement of what is costing marks and what the block is for. If the answer is general, do not book, whatever the hourly rate attached to it or however pleasant the lesson felt.

  5. 05

Sequence two children rather than halving a session

Two children in one session rarely works, because year groups, specifications and weaknesses differ. Funding the time-critical need now and the other next term usually produces two results instead of none.

  6. 06

Check the three signals at six weeks

A written diagnosis, marked practice showing that specific thing improving, and a mark trend. If all three are missing, the spend is not working, and the test applies at every price point in this market including ours.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The district premium explained and priced

We say plainly why quotes to a large-plot villa district come back high, itemise the components, and show which ones online delivery removes entirely. No other page in this market tells a household what it is actually being charged for.

Four quote shapes decoded

Hourly in-home, monthly in-home package, hourly online, monthly online package. We show how to normalise each to a cost per teaching hour and name the question that exposes what each conceals, including unused-session terms.

Household arithmetic, not per-student arithmetic

The market prices per student and families budget per household. We publish the two-child sums and recommend sequencing by time-criticality, which usually produces two results rather than two half-finished arrangements.

A value test you can apply yourself

A written diagnosis, marked practice on that specific thing, and a mark trend, all visible at six weeks. It needs no subject knowledge and it works at any price point, including on us.

AED figures with named sources

Every band here carries the provider that published it and the month we read it. They are market context rather than our price list, which follows a free trial lesson and an honest count of the sessions needed.

No borrowed credentials

We explain what KHDA does and link to its own material. We do not describe IB Gram or any tutor as KHDA approved, ADEK approved or IB accredited, because none of it is true of us and the phrase is the commonest untruth in this market.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Mohammed Bin Rashid City: your questions answered

Why are home tutor quotes to Mohammed Bin Rashid City higher than elsewhere in Dubai?+

Access time, mostly. The district is built around large plots with long internal roads and gated entry, so the last two kilometres can take as long as the previous twelve at four in the afternoon. A tutor who could fit three sessions into an evening in a tower community fits two here, and prices accordingly. The market band for in-home one-to-one in Dubai is roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel inside the figure, and quotes to villa districts cluster in the upper half of it.

Do your tutors come to homes in this district?+

No. IB Gram delivers one-to-one tuition over live video throughout the UAE, and home visits are a service we offer only in India. We say so plainly because home tutor is the phrase parents search and leaving the impression open would be easy. Local in-home arrangements certainly exist here and this page gives you the bands to judge them by. What online delivery changes for a household in this district is the earliest possible start time and the breadth of the tutor pool.

What exactly am I paying extra for with a home visit?+

A car journey, a person in the room, and not having to set up a video call. Those are real and for a younger child presence can matter. What the premium does not buy is subject knowledge: there is no mechanism by which driving into a gated villa community improves anyone's grasp of Higher Level Economics. It also narrows the field to tutors willing to make a long evening journey, so a household here can pay the top of the band and still get a generalist.

We have two children who both need help. How should we budget?+

Sequence rather than double. At qualified online rates of roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, two children with one weekly subject each is eight to ten sessions a month and a low-to-middle four-figure monthly total; at in-home rates with this district's premium it approaches a term's school fees. Fund the time-critical need first, usually the child closer to an examination session or an internal assessment deadline, and the other next term. Also look for a shared cause, because siblings often have the same underlying gap.

Can two siblings share one tutoring session to halve the cost?+

Usually not usefully. Different year groups, different specifications and different weaknesses mean each child is idle for half the session, and the saving buys a diluted hour rather than a cheaper one. The exception is genuinely parallel need: two siblings in the same year group, on the same specification, with the same named gap. That does happen and is worth asking about rather than assuming. Otherwise sequencing one child this term and the other next produces two results instead of two compromises.

How do I compare an in-home package against an online one?+

Convert both to a cost per teaching hour, which most quotes avoid making easy. A monthly in-home package of AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits is eight contact hours. An online package advertised around AED 799 is eight sessions, which is only eight hours if a session is sixty minutes, so ask. Then ask what each includes beyond contact time: marked practice between sessions, written feedback, and replacement if the match fails. Those inclusions move the real value more than the headline figure does.

Where do households in districts like this one waste the most?+

Six places. Duration bought before diagnosis, with weekly sessions running for two years and nobody naming the problem. Specialist rates spent on homework supervision. Three subjects funded for one underlying weakness. The access premium paid where presence changes nothing. Blocks renewing because stopping feels risky. And funding the child who complains loudest ahead of the one with the closer deadline. None is solved by a lower rate; all are solved by a written purpose and a six-week check.

How do I know whether the tutoring is working?+

Three signals at six weeks. A written statement from the tutor of what was costing marks. Marked practice in that specific area showing movement. And a mark or grade trend in the subject. If all three are present the spend is working even if the grade has not moved yet; if all three are absent it is not working however pleasant the sessions are. The test needs no subject knowledge from you, and it applies identically at AED 60 an hour and AED 450 an hour.

Which Diploma subjects should we fund first if the budget is fixed?+

Start with anything irreversible: an internal assessment question or an Extended Essay focus, which is one or two sessions and cannot be bought back later at any price. Then the Higher Level subject chosen above the student's foundation, because that gap widens monthly and is cheapest to close in DP1. Then the transferable weakness under several subjects, usually algebra or writing structure, because one block moves two or three grades. The subject with the lowest grade is often a symptom of something higher in that order.

Is a group class in Al Quoz a reasonable alternative from here?+

For a named topic shared by several students, yes, and it is the cheapest format reachable from this district. It works poorly for internal assessment feedback, paper technique or anything personal, because an individual habit will not be noticed in a room of six. Note also that the journey is back, so the access problem reappears in a different form. The test is whether you can name the gap: if you can, a group class on that topic may be efficient, and if you cannot it is a cheap way of not solving the problem.

Are school fees rising in Dubai, and how should that change our thinking?+

KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. With the largest education line flat, a tutoring figure is more visible in the household budget than usual. Practically, it makes this a good year to insist on a written purpose and a six-week check rather than absorbing an undifferentiated monthly payment into a general rise.

Does a tutor's permit affect what we should pay?+

It should not, because the permit costs them nothing. MoHRE issues a private tuition work permit under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years, with eligible applicants including registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. Applications go through MoHRE's own private tutor licensing service. Those tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, although no fine schedule is published, so disregard any specific amount quoted.

Can we pause sessions during Ramadan or the summer to control cost?+

Yes, and online delivery makes pausing cheap rather than disruptive. During Ramadan sessions commonly move to a post-Iftar slot, with no journey to renegotiate at either end, and a holiday pause costs nothing but a held slot. The exception is the eight weeks before the examination session, where pausing costs more than it saves. Agree a pause in advance so the slot is kept rather than released, and if the family is leaving the Gulf, agree which time zone the session is pinned to.

What if we start late in DP2 after a poor mock?+

It can still work, with a changed plan. With eight to twelve weeks of usable time the first session should mark the mock question by question, and the plan that follows should abandon some topics deliberately rather than attempting everything. Expect a high monthly figure for a short bounded block rather than a modest figure spread thin. What you should not buy at that stage is an open-ended arrangement, because the window closes before an open-ended plan has had time to work, and nobody can promise a grade inside it.

What happens if the specialist we want is fully booked?+

We tell you rather than substituting quietly. Theory of Knowledge, Extended Essay supervision and Higher Level mathematics with Paper 3 experience are genuinely thin, and the early-evening Gulf Standard Time slots this district wants after the school run fill first. The options are a different slot, a short wait, or a tutor based outside the UAE teaching the same syllabus to Gulf Standard Time, disclosed as such. We will not substitute a related subject or level, and the trial lesson is free so asking costs nothing.

What should I send to get a recommendation that fits our budget?+

Five things. The monthly figure you are comfortable with and for how long. The subject and whether it is Higher or Standard Level, for each child. The latest grade, labelled as mock or classwork. The teacher's last written comment, quoted rather than paraphrased. And which deadline is closest across the household, because that decides the sequencing. A photograph of one marked paper beats all five, and with it we can usually propose a tutor the same day.

Price the teaching, not the journey

Quotes to this district come back high because of the drive, and the drive is the one component of a tutoring price that buys nothing academic. Normalise every quote you hold to a cost per teaching hour, ask what each includes beyond contact time, and set aside any that will not say where the tutor is based. Then send us the subject, the level, the monthly figure and which child's deadline is closest, and we will propose a tutor and run the first session at no cost. Check the three signals at six weeks.
