IB Home Tutor in Arabian Ranches

Parents comparing an IB home tutor in Arabian Ranches with the same search in Arabian Ranches 2, Dubai Hills Estate or Motor City find the results barely differ, and there is a reason for that. The Diploma specialists this market is short of do not live in any of those communities. IB Gram answers the question the same way from every villa on the Dubailand belt: one-to-one teaching over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, with a free trial lesson before anything is paid for.

  • One-to-one Diploma teaching over live video, never a recorded course
  • Every AED figure here attributed to the provider that published it
  • Tutors hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit, free and valid two years
  • Free trial lesson first: one session, before any payment is taken

IB & IGCSE in Arabian Ranches

The same search, run from six different Dubailand villas

A family in Arabian Ranches types the phrase at the top of this page. A family three roundabouts away in Arabian Ranches 2 types it with a 2 on the end. In Dubai Hills Estate, Motor City, Mudon and Town Square the same thing happens with a different community name in the middle. The results are nearly identical, and the reason is not laziness on the part of the agencies. It is that the thing being searched for, a teacher who can take a student through Higher Level Chemistry or Analysis and Approaches, is not distributed by community at all.

Dubai's Diploma specialists cluster near the schools that employ them, which in this part of the city means Al Barsha, Umm Suqeim, Dubai Hills and Nad Al Sheba. They are also barred from privately tutoring students enrolled at their own school by the code of conduct attached to the MoHRE private tuition work permit. What remains available in-home is a small travelling pool, and that pool serves the whole Dubailand belt rather than any single community inside it. The address you type changes nothing about who is actually free.

That is why this page is written as a comparison. It sets out what in-home tuition costs around Arabian Ranches, what the premium over an online rate pays for, how long the return drive takes from the schools these communities feed at four in the afternoon, and which Diploma subjects are genuinely scarce to staff. Then it gives the same answer for all ten communities, because the honest answer really is the same: choose the teacher on subject depth and run the lesson over live video.

IB Gram does not run home visits in Dubai. Sending tutors to houses is a service we operate in India, and the UAE side of the business is one-to-one online teaching, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, with screen sharing for working, past papers and internal assessment drafts. Saying that plainly matters on a page targeting this phrase. A parent searching for in-home tuition deserves the costs and the trade-offs laid out properly, not a change of subject halfway down the page.

What you gain in exchange is the part of the comparison nobody advertises. An in-home booking in Arabian Ranches selects from the teachers willing to drive to Arabian Ranches at the hour you want. An online booking selects from everyone who can teach the subject at that hour. For a Standard Level Business Management student the two pools may be equally good. For Higher Level Physics, Economics or Analysis and Approaches in the second Diploma year they are not remotely the same, and that gap is worth considerably more to a student than a short drive is worth to a parent.

At a glance

  • In-home rates in Dubai are published at AED 180 to 500 an hour, travel included
  • Online specialist rates are published at AED 150 to 450 by the same providers
  • The travel premium buys a car and a radius, not a better teacher
  • Arabian Ranches, Ranches 2 and 3, Mudon and Town Square share one tutor pool
  • Lessons run live online; home visits are a service we operate only in India
  • Higher Level subject scarcity, not distance, is what limits your choice here
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Families across the Dubailand communities reach the Diploma from three directions: an IGCSE Year 11 at a British school, an MYP 5 year at a continuum school, and occasionally an American high-school track. The notes below are written for a student living in Arabian Ranches making that move, with what each route demands on this side of the city.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three of them at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity, Activity, Service. Subject grades run from 1 to 7 and the core adds up to three points, so 45 is the ceiling. Higher Level courses carry more teaching hours and deeper content, and they are where private tuition demand concentrates, because the internal assessment and the final papers both sit on top of two years of accumulated material.

From Arabian Ranches the nearest Diploma places sit in Dubai Hills, Al Barsha, Nad Al Sheba and Umm Suqeim, so a second-year student is frequently on a bus home after four. The courses this belt is shortest of are Higher Level Physics, Economics and Analysis and Approaches, and that scarcity is the whole reason an online match beats a local one here.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1 to MYP 5

Middle Years Programme

Five years, eight subject groups, and assessment against four criteria marked out of eight rather than percentages. There is no external examination in the first four years, so pressure arrives through internal task deadlines and the report cycle instead. The Personal Project lands in the final year. Students leaving the continuum at that point sit IGCSE, which is a common pattern across the Dubailand communities.

Several families in Arabian Ranches and Mudon use a continuum school for the middle years and then move to a British school for IGCSE and A Level, while others stay for the Diploma. Either way the decision is taken during MYP 4, and it is worth taking with the current criterion profile in front of you rather than on reputation alone.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

The Career-related Programme pairs Diploma courses with a career-related study and a core of personal and professional skills, a reflective project, service learning and language development. A small number of Dubai schools license it. For a student strong in two or three academic subjects and keen on an applied qualification, it is a genuine alternative to carrying six.

Worth knowing about from Arabian Ranches mainly because option blocks close early in MYP 5 and Year 11. Check the licensed programme list on each school's own KHDA page, since licences differ between neighbouring schools in Dubai Hills and Al Barsha and change between academic years.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Inquiry-led primary years with no external examination, closing with the PYP Exhibition. Reporting describes learner-profile attributes and approaches to learning rather than marks, which families arriving from a British or Indian primary school often find unfamiliar for a term. Support at this stage is about reading fluency and the habit of recording a method, both of which the middle years assume from day one.

Primary places inside the Dubailand communities are strong and plentiful, which is precisely why the comparison between communities matters so little at six and so much at sixteen. The primary school is a five-minute drive from most of these villas. The Diploma school usually is not.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Diploma demand on this belt is lopsided. Three courses account for most enquiries and nearly all of the scheduling difficulty, and the rest are straightforward to staff. The list names what each subject assesses and where the marks go, so you can judge whether your child needs a specialist or a strong generalist. Give the level as well as the subject when you enquire.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Paper 1 and Paper 2, plus Paper 3 at Higher Level, with the exploration as internal assessment. Marks go on reasoning and method rather than arithmetic: a correct final answer with no justification scores badly. This is the hardest course to staff on the Dubailand belt at Higher Level, which is the practical argument against hiring by distance.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and technology-heavy work, with its own exploration. It suits students heading towards business, psychology or design rather than engineering. Several engineering courses expect Analysis and Approaches instead, so the route choice should be checked against the admissions pages of the universities actually in view, not against general advice.

Physics

HL and SL

Assessed across written papers plus a scientific investigation. Students who scored highly at IGCSE often drop sharply in the first Diploma year, because the course assumes algebraic fluency and asks for uncertainty handling that IGCSE never required. Fields and circular motion are where Higher Level marks reliably disappear.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Written papers plus the scientific investigation. Organic mechanisms and energetics carry most of the lost marks, and the investigation punishes a student who collects data without a defensible method. Higher Level adds content depth that cannot be caught up in a final term, which is why the first Diploma year is the economical time to start.

Biology

HL and SL

Papers plus the investigation, with command terms doing more work here than in any other science. A student who writes everything they know about a topic scores less than one who answers exactly what outline, explain and evaluate demand. Weak statistics in the investigation is common and entirely fixable in a few sessions.

Economics

HL and SL

Papers plus three internal assessment commentaries built on recent news articles. Diagram accuracy and precise evaluation carry the marks, and Higher Level adds quantitative work that surprises students who chose the subject to avoid mathematics. Another course that is scarce to staff locally at Higher Level, particularly in an evening slot.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 guided analysis, Paper 2 comparative essay, the individual oral and, at Higher Level, the essay. The commonest fault is summarising a text where the question asks for analysis of the writer's choices, and that habit usually arrives intact from IGCSE English Language and needs naming before it can be broken.

Business Management

HL and SL

Papers plus a written commentary at Standard Level and a research project at Higher Level. Case-study technique and the ability to apply a tool rather than describe it carry the grade. One of the more straightforward courses to staff in this part of Dubai at either level, which is useful to know before you pay a scarcity premium.

Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and internal assessment

Core, taken by every Diploma student

The core carries up to three points and takes a disproportionate share of first-year time. A tutor may teach structure, question framing and argument, may review the student's own drafts, and may give written feedback. A tutor may never produce any part of the work. That boundary is the whole of the honesty rule, and it is not negotiable.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, and the comparison between them is the point of this page rather than a footnote at the bottom of it. All IB Gram teaching in the UAE runs one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. The in-home and group entries describe what the Dubai market offers, with its own published rates, so the choice can be made on numbers.

Weekly one-to-one online

Sixty or ninety minutes a week with the same Diploma specialist, screen-shared so that past papers, working and internal assessment drafts are visible to both sides. The slot is held for the term and can move for Ramadan, mocks or travel. This is what IB Gram delivers in the UAE, and the trial lesson costs nothing.

  • The same teacher each week, chosen on subject and level
  • Screen sharing for working, mark schemes and drafts
  • Slot held for the term and movable without losing the teacher
  • Free trial lesson before any payment is taken

In-home visits, as the Dubai market sells them

Independent tutors and agencies travelling to villas across this belt quote AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included, and monthly packages of AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits. IB Gram does not sell this in the UAE. It is described here because it is what the search phrase means, and because the cost comparison deserves real numbers.

  • Published market range AED 180-500 per hour, travel included
  • Choice limited to people willing to drive this far out
  • Rates quoted into Remraam and DAMAC Hills 2 run highest
  • A service IB Gram operates in India, not in the UAE

Small-group classes at a Motor City or Sports City centre

Tuition centres operating in the apartment communities run small-group classes, usually priced per student well below a one-to-one rate. They work for content coverage in a shared syllabus and not for an individual internal assessment or a single weak topic, because the hour belongs to the group rather than to your child.

  • Lower price per student than any one-to-one option
  • Pace set by the group, not by the weakest topic
  • Little use for internal assessment or one specific gap
  • Centres with premises need a KHDA training-institute permit

Short diagnostic block before committing

Three sessions to establish what is actually wrong, ending in a written plan naming the topics and the assessment components to target. This is the sensible purchase when a report says a grade has fallen and nobody in the house can say which part of the course caused it.

  • Three sessions, then a written plan you keep
  • No weekly commitment afterwards
  • Priced and scheduled before it starts
  • Often enough on its own in the first Diploma year

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Arabian Ranches

01

What changes between Arabian Ranches and the community next door, and what does not

Set two searches side by side: this page's phrase, and the same phrase with Dubai Hills Estate, Motor City or Mudon in place of the community name. The agencies that appear are the same agencies, the subject lists are the same lists, and in several cases the page is the same page with one noun swapped. A parent could reasonably conclude the whole category is marketing. The more useful conclusion is narrower than that: the inputs which vary between these communities are not the inputs that decide whether tutoring works.

Three things genuinely differ. The drive, because DAMAC Hills 2 is a long way from Al Barsha and Dubai Hills is not. The school mix, because primary provision inside the villa communities is strong while Diploma places mostly sit outside them. And the quoted in-home rate, because a travelling tutor prices distance, so the same person charges more into Remraam than into Dubai Hills Estate. Those are real differences, and this page puts numbers on all three rather than waving at them.

One thing does not differ at all: who can actually teach Higher Level Physics at seven on a Tuesday evening. That pool is small, it is not resident in any of these ten communities, and it does not grow because your villa sits nearer the Hessa Street exit. Which is why the recommendation at the end of every comparison on this page is the same recommendation, and why it is fairer to state it at the start. Choose the teacher on the subject, and run the lesson over live video. IB Gram does not run home visits in Dubai; that is an India-only service, and pretending otherwise on a page about in-home tuition would be the easiest sale available and the wrong one to make.

02

What an in-home IB tutor costs across this belt, cheapest first

Start at the bottom of the market and work upwards, because the cheap end is where most families start and where most of the disappointment lives. Tutopiya publishes online rates from AED 33 to 52 an hour and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65. At that level you are buying a university student with the syllabus open in another window. For Year 8 maths practice that can be perfectly adequate. For a second-year Diploma internal assessment it is not, and the hour is cheap because it has to be.

The next band is where most Diploma work actually happens. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 an hour and IB from AED 200. TutorChase quotes AED 270. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table puts a qualified subject specialist at AED 200 to 450 and above, and the named-examiner end of the market, at BartyED, reaches AED 650. Monthly, Bestimate's estimate for one weekly hour runs AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for exam-year specialist help.

Then the in-home column. Bestimate quotes AED 180 to 350 for a one-to-one visit with travel included, independent providers advertise up to AED 500, and monthly packages appear at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits against roughly AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. Read those two monthly figures next to each other: the in-home package costs around twice as much for half as many sessions. The difference is a car, a parking space and a radius. It is not a teaching difference, and on this belt the radius is the part that costs you most, because it decides which teachers exist for you at all. Every figure here belongs to the provider named, on the date its own page carried that rate; IB Gram quotes no rate card on this page and the first lesson is free.

03

The drive at four o'clock, community by community

The drive is the one input that really does change between these communities, so it is worth putting numbers on it. The relevant journey is not the morning run, which moves reasonably well in both directions along Al Qudra Road, but the return at four in the afternoon, when Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, Hessa Street and the Al Barsha interchanges all work against you at once. A tutor driving in from the schools is making that journey in exactly the same traffic as the school buses.

The figures below are indicative rather than measured, and any parent on this belt will recognise them. What they show is how a sixty-minute lesson becomes a two-hour commitment for a travelling tutor, and why somebody pricing by the hour has to price the travel into it somewhere. They also show why the earliest realistic start time varies by half an hour or more between communities that look adjacent on a map and are not adjacent in traffic.

Read the last column as the operational constraint it is. A second-year Diploma student home at 16:15 needs to eat, and a lesson starting at 16:30 is worse than one starting at 17:00. Push the start to 17:00 or 17:30 and the travelling tutor's window narrows further, because they can now fit one booking into the evening rather than two. An online slot at 19:30 costs nobody a drive, which is why evening availability is wider online by a margin that grows the further out a community sits.

Online, in-home and group tuition: the arithmetic from a Dubailand villa

Put the three delivery models in one frame and the decision stops being a matter of preference. Each one buys a different thing. One-to-one online buys the widest possible choice of teacher at the exact hour your child is free. In-home buys a person in the room, paid for with a narrower choice and a travel premium. A group class buys content coverage at a lower price per student, paid for with the loss of the hour being yours.

For some students the in-home option is genuinely the right one. A Year 7 child who will not sit still without an adult beside them is a case for a person in the room, and no amount of arithmetic changes that. For a Diploma student working on a Physics investigation or a Mathematics exploration, the opposite is true: the work is already on a screen, the draft is already a shared document, and a tutor annotating it live from anywhere is doing the job better than one reading it over a shoulder in a kitchen.

The last row of the table is the one most families actually choose and nobody plans. Doing nothing through the first Diploma year and then buying six weeks of specialist help before the papers costs the top of the market, gets the worst slots, and arrives after the internal assessment marks are already submitted. The same money spent across the first year, when there is still time to change how a student writes, buys a different outcome entirely.

Why the same answer serves all ten communities

Here is the comparison that matters, and it has nothing to do with addresses. Diploma teaching capacity in Dubai is distributed by subject and level, not by community. Standard Level Business Management is easy to staff anywhere. Higher Level Physics in an evening slot is hard to staff at all, and it is equally hard whether the student is in Arabian Ranches, Dubai Hills or Town Square. Any page that implies otherwise is selling a map when the constraint is a timetable.

Disclosing that limit is unusual in this market, and it should not be. No competitor page researched for this project publishes a coverage limit or a fallback policy; several route UAE parents to numbers in other countries without saying so. The table below is our version, written as the answer to a question a parent should be asking: what happens when the specialist you need is not free, and what will you be offered instead?

The practical consequence for a family on this belt is a short checklist. Name the subject and the level before you name your evening, because the level decides whether there is any flexibility at all. Ask for a stated match time rather than a promise of availability. And ask what the fallback is, in writing, before the first payment. A provider that answers those three questions concretely is telling you more about itself than any testimonial on the page, and a provider that deflects all three is telling you something too.

KHDA inspection bands, and reading them across two neighbouring schools

Dubai private schools are inspected annually by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate, and the outcome is published on a six-band scale. Families comparing communities usually end up comparing school bands too, and the bands are more slippery than they look. A band is a judgement about a whole school across many measures, and your child attends a department inside it for two years.

That gap matters in a specific way for Diploma families. A school can sit in a high band on the strength of its primary phase, its attendance, its leadership and its inclusion provision, while the department teaching your child's Higher Level subject has lost two staff in eighteen months. The band will not tell you that. Nor will it tell you how many students took the subject at Higher Level last year, which is the single most informative number a parent can ask for and one every school knows.

Dubai's private sector is also expanding fast, which keeps moving the comparison. Seven new private schools are opening for 2026-27, four British curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, after six opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose six per cent. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate would not rise for 2026-27 under Dubai's second economic incentives package, valued at AED 1.5 billion. Use the table to read a band for what it is, then ask the department-level questions it cannot answer.

What the UAE Ministry of Education requires for equivalency

Equivalency is the step families forget until it blocks something, and no competitor page researched for this project mentions it at all. If your child intends to use a school qualification for a UAE university place or for certain government processes, the certificate has to be recognised by the Ministry of Education, and the requirements differ by curriculum. They are published, they are specific, and they are worth reading two years before they are needed rather than two weeks.

For the British track the numbers are clear. A student must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must submit proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade no lower than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects. At least one page ranking for queries like this one states that six IGCSE subjects are required; the sourced figure is five.

For the American track, English proficiency requires a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and mathematics requires at least 450 in the SAT Mathematics test before applying. For the IB Diploma we publish no points threshold, because none appears in the sources available to us and an unsourced number here would be worse than silence. Verify on moe.gov.ae or with the emirate's attestation authority. IB Gram does not perform equivalency, does not submit it on your behalf, and tutoring is not required for it.

Where the line sits on internal assessment, and who may legally tutor

Two boundaries are worth knowing before you hire anyone on this belt, and both have checkable answers. The first is academic honesty. Every Diploma internal assessment, the Extended Essay and the Theory of Knowledge essay must be the student's own work. A tutor may teach the skill, discuss the research question, explain what a criterion rewards, read the student's own draft and give written feedback on it. A tutor may never produce any part of the submitted work, and a provider offering to do so is offering your child a malpractice finding.

That matters here more than it should, because this search result contains operations selling completed internal assessments outright at prices in the thousands of dirhams. The consequence of buying one falls on the student, not the seller. Our position is deliberately dull: feedback in writing as comments on criteria, never edits inside the submitted file, and every draft kept and dated so the development of the work is visible if a coordinator ever asks to see it.

The second boundary is legal. Private tutoring in the UAE runs on a permit: the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, granted free of charge for two years, with no fee and a stated two-working-day completion time on MoHRE's own service page. Teachers in government or private schools, public and private sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18 may all apply. People tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no schedule of amounts has been published, so treat any figure you see quoted with suspicion. A centre with premises and staff needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute instead, which is a different thing entirely.

Booking from Arabian Ranches, and what happens when nobody is free

The practical sequence is short. Send the subject, the level, the school and the evening window that works after the bus arrives. Attach the last report and, if there is one, the marked internal assessment draft. That is enough to decide whether we have the right teacher free, and it takes a few minutes rather than a consultation call. The trial lesson is free, with the condition stated plainly: one session, before any payment, with written feedback afterwards so the teaching can be judged on its own.

If the match is wrong, we change the teacher rather than asking you to persevere. If the right specialist is not free for the slot you need, you get told that, along with the options: a different evening, a short wait, or a teacher whose subject depth we describe accurately before you decide anything. On a page comparing ten communities it is worth being explicit that this is the one variable your address does not improve. A villa in Dubai Hills does not make a Higher Level Physics specialist appear on a Tuesday at seven.

Scheduling flexes with the UAE year in two predictable ways. Ramadan shortens school hours and families across the Dubailand communities move an afternoon slot to after Iftar; an online lesson absorbs that without renegotiating a drive. The long summer empties much of this belt, and a student in London, Mumbai or Toronto in July keeps the same teacher and the same slot, time-converted. Both of those are ordinary requests here, and neither of them works at all when the arrangement depends on somebody's car.

Where we tutor

Arabian Ranches and the communities it gets compared with

Ten communities share the Dubailand belt and largely the same group of schools. The notes below cover the thing that genuinely differs between them, which is the drive, the bus time and the realistic earliest start for a lesson, rather than the thing that does not, which is the pool of Diploma teachers available to any of them.

Arabian Ranches

Al Qudra Road on one side and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road on the other, with JESS Arabian Ranches inside the community. Secondary students mostly travel out, and a bus arriving home between 15:45 and 16:15 makes 17:00 the first realistic lesson slot.

Arabian Ranches 2

Casa, Rosa, Palma and the newer clusters, one exit further along Al Qudra Road. Bus runs are marginally longer than from the original Ranches, so families here tend to book 17:30 rather than 17:00 for a second-year student who needs to eat first.

Arabian Ranches 3

The newest of the three and the furthest from the Al Barsha schools. Fewer secondary options sit within a short drive, which pushes families here towards an online slot early in the decision rather than after a term of trying to make a drive work.

Dubai Hills Estate

Closer to the city and to several schools, so the travel argument is weakest here. It is also where tutors travelling this belt tend to live, which is why the same person's quoted rate into Dubai Hills is often lower than their rate into Mudon.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

Apartment-heavy and closer to Hessa Street, with tuition centres operating locally. Group classes are a real option here in a way they are not in the villa communities, and the arithmetic against one-to-one is set out further down this page.

DAMAC Hills and DAMAC Hills 2

Further out along Umm Suqeim Road and Al Qudra Road respectively. DAMAC Hills 2 is the longest drive in this comparison, and the clearest case where a travel premium on an in-home rate buys nothing a parent would choose to pay for.

Town Square and Mudon

Townhouse communities along Al Qudra Road with young populations and a rising number of Year 10 and Year 11 students. Demand here is still mostly IGCSE rather than Diploma, which changes which subjects are hard to staff at five o'clock.

Remraam

The most affordable community on the belt and the least served by travelling tutors, which shows up directly in quoted in-home rates. Online delivery removes that penalty completely, and this is the community where the difference between the two models is largest.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Arabian Ranches

Dubai Hills, Nad Al Sheba and Al Barsha

Where most Diploma places within reach of the Dubailand belt actually sit. Students we support attend schools in this cluster, and nothing beyond that is implied. Programme licences and inspection outcomes are published by KHDA and change between years, so check the regulator's own listing rather than a prospectus.

  • GEMS International School - Al Khail
  • North London Collegiate School Dubai
  • GEMS World Academy - Dubai
  • Kings' School Al Barsha
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • Dubai Heights Academy

Arabian Ranches, Motor City and the Al Qudra corridor

Schools inside or immediately beside the Dubailand communities themselves. Primary provision here is strong and close at hand; Diploma places are thinner and mostly further in. That asymmetry is the subject of this whole page.

  • JESS Arabian Ranches
  • Ranches Primary School
  • Fairgreen International School
  • GEMS FirstPoint School - The Villa
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • Bradenton Preparatory Academy

Schools are named as local context for families comparing these communities. IB Gram claims no affiliation with, endorsement from, or relationship to any school listed here.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the subject and the level, then the evening

Name the course and whether it is Higher or Standard Level first, because that decides whether there is any scheduling flexibility. Then give the window that works once the bus has arrived in your community. A subject without a level produces a shortlist that collapses the moment the real requirement appears.

  2. 02

Attach the report and any marked draft

The last school report and a marked internal assessment draft tell a teacher more in two minutes than a phone call does in twenty. They show which component is losing marks rather than which topic feels hard, and those are frequently different things in the second Diploma year.

  3. 03

Take the free trial lesson on its own terms

One lesson at no charge, booked before any payment and with no card details taken beforehand. It is a working session: the teacher looks at the draft, teaches one component and sends written feedback. Judge it on whether your child understood something new, not on how the call felt.

  4. 04

Fix the slot for the term, then let it move

Lessons run live online on Gulf Standard Time, so the slot is held for the term and can shift for Ramadan, mock examinations or a trip without changing teacher. Families on this belt use that more than they expect to, because nothing in the arrangement depends on traffic on Al Qudra Road.

  5. 05

Review on the next report, and stop if it is not working

The test is the grade and the teacher's comment on the next school report, not a feeling after four sessions. At that point we continue, change the teacher, or stop. If no specialist is available for your subject and slot, you are told so rather than quietly handed somebody approximate.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The comparison is run with numbers, not adjectives

Travel times, published AED rates and monthly package figures are set out on this page with the provider that published each one. Three of the pages ranking for queries like this publish no price in any currency, and two quote US dollars, which UAE families do not transact in.

Matched on subject scarcity, not on your address

Higher Level Physics, Economics and Analysis and Approaches are the courses this belt is short of, and no community within it has more of them than another. Matching across the whole pool and teaching over video is the only move that actually widens your choice.

The coverage limit is published

There is a table on this page naming which subjects are thin, what the typical match time is, and what you are offered when nobody is free. No competitor page researched for this project discloses a coverage limit at all, and several conceal non-UAE delivery behind a foreign phone number.

Clear about what in-home tuition is and is not

The in-home market is described here with its real rates because that is what the search phrase means. IB Gram does not sell it in the UAE; home visits are an India-only service. Saying so on this page rather than in a footnote is the point of writing it honestly.

Honest limits on coursework and on claims

A tutor teaches, reviews the student's own drafts and gives written feedback. No part of an internal assessment, Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge essay is produced for a student, and no grade is promised by anyone here. Both limits are stated rather than implied.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Arabian Ranches: your questions answered

Does IB Gram send a home tutor to a villa in Arabian Ranches?+

No. IB Gram does not run home visits anywhere in the UAE; sending tutors to houses is a service we operate in India only. Teaching for families in Arabian Ranches is one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, with screen sharing so working, past papers and internal assessment drafts are visible to both sides. The practical gain is the size of the pool: instead of choosing from teachers willing to drive out to Al Qudra Road at five o'clock, you choose from everyone who can teach the course at the hour your child is actually free.

Is it easier to find an IB tutor in Arabian Ranches or in Dubai Hills Estate?+

Marginally easier in Dubai Hills, and only for in-home tuition. Dubai Hills sits closer to the schools that employ Diploma teachers, so a travelling tutor can reach it inside twenty-five minutes at four in the afternoon and can fit two bookings into an evening. From Arabian Ranches the same trip is twenty-five to forty minutes and usually means one booking. For online teaching the difference is zero: the same teachers are available to both communities at the same times, which is why this page gives both the same recommendation.

What does an in-home IB lesson cost in Dubai once travel is priced in?+

Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350 an hour with travel included, and independent providers advertise up to AED 500. Monthly packages appear at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits, against roughly AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. Set those two monthly figures side by side and the in-home option is around twice the money for half the sessions. The gap pays for a car and a radius rather than for better teaching, and those are the providers' own published numbers, not ours.

We are moving from Arabian Ranches to Mudon. Does the tutoring arrangement change?+

Not at all, which is one of the quieter advantages of online delivery on this belt. The teacher, the slot and the plan carry over, because nothing in the arrangement depends on which community the villa sits in. An in-home booking would change: the drive from the Al Barsha schools to Mudon runs thirty-five to fifty minutes at four in the afternoon rather than twenty-five to forty, which usually means a later start, a higher quoted rate, or a tutor who declines the booking altogether once they see the postcode.

Which IB schools serve Arabian Ranches and the Dubailand communities?+

Diploma places within reach sit mostly in Dubai Hills, Nad Al Sheba, Al Barsha and Umm Suqeim, including GEMS International School Al Khail, North London Collegiate School Dubai and GEMS World Academy Dubai, with Fairgreen International School inside the Dubailand area itself. Primary provision inside the communities is far stronger, which is the asymmetry this page is about. Programme licences change between academic years, so confirm what each school is licensed to offer on its own KHDA listing. IB Gram has no affiliation with any school named here.

How long is the drive from Al Barsha to Arabian Ranches at four in the afternoon?+

Indicatively twenty-five to forty minutes, against fifteen to twenty in the morning, because Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, Hessa Street and the Al Barsha interchanges are all busy at once. For a travelling tutor that turns a sixty-minute lesson into a two-hour commitment, which is why the travel appears in the hourly rate. It also pushes the earliest realistic start for a student arriving home around 16:00 to roughly 17:00, once eating is accounted for. An online slot at 19:30 removes the constraint entirely for both sides.

Is a tutor who lives in Motor City better than one who does not drive at all?+

Only if they teach the right course well. Proximity is a scheduling convenience, not a qualification, and on Higher Level courses the two things pull in opposite directions: the nearer the pool, the smaller it is. The sensible test is to ask both candidates the same subject question. For a Physics investigation, ask how they would handle uncertainty propagation in the student's own data set. The answer separates a physics graduate from somebody who has taught the current Diploma course, and distance has nothing to do with it.

Why do in-home rates vary so much between neighbouring Dubai communities?+

Because the tutor is pricing the return journey. A travelling tutor living near the Al Barsha or Dubai Hills schools can reach Dubai Hills Estate quickly, Arabian Ranches less quickly, and Remraam or DAMAC Hills 2 only by giving up a second booking that evening. The rate rises to cover the booking they cannot take. That is a rational way to price a car, and it is also the clearest signal that what you are paying for at the top of the in-home range is distance rather than expertise.

Can two children in one Arabian Ranches villa share a single IB session?+

Rarely usefully, unless they are in the same year taking the same course at the same level. Diploma subjects diverge quickly, and an hour split between a Higher Level Chemistry student and a Standard Level Economics student gives neither child a proper lesson. Consecutive one-to-one slots on the same evening work better: one quiet room, one evening disturbed, two specific lessons. Where both children genuinely sit the same course, a paired session is reasonable and we will say so rather than selling two hours.

Does a higher KHDA inspection band mean my child needs less support?+

Not reliably. A band is a judgement about a whole school across many inspected areas, and your child attends one department inside it for two years. A school can sit in a high band on the strength of its primary phase, leadership and inclusion provision while the department teaching a Higher Level subject has lost staff. The more useful questions are specific: how many students sat that subject at Higher Level last year, who teaches it now, and what support exists around internal assessment deadlines.

What does the UAE Ministry of Education require from an IB student for equivalency?+

We do not publish a figure, and that is deliberate. The British-track requirements are sourced and specific: five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education, plus one Advanced Level subject at E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. No IB points threshold appears in the sources available to us, so publishing one would be guesswork on a page thousands of families read. Verify on moe.gov.ae or with the emirate's attestation authority, and note that tutoring is not required for equivalency.

Do my child's IGCSE grades count towards UAE equivalency?+

Yes, on the British track. A student must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and Arabic and Islamic education are not included among those five. One page ranking for queries like this states that six subjects are needed; the sourced figure is five, which is the kind of error worth checking at the source rather than inheriting. The requirement sits alongside the Advanced Level condition, so a student on a pure IGCSE route still has an A Level or AS Level step to satisfy.

How much of a Diploma internal assessment may a tutor touch?+

The line is the text itself. A tutor may explain what each criterion rewards, discuss whether a research question is answerable, teach the statistical or analytical technique the task needs, read a draft the student wrote and give written feedback on it. A tutor may not write sentences that end up in the submission, restructure the work by rewriting it, or supply data. Keep every draft dated and keep feedback as comments on criteria rather than edits inside the file, and the distinction stays visible to anyone who asks.

Do private tutors working in Arabian Ranches need a UAE permit?+

Yes. Private tutoring in the UAE runs on the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time through its app, website or e-services system. School teachers, public and private sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18 may all apply. Tutoring without one carries fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and since the permit costs nothing there is no excuse for not holding it.

What if nobody is free for Higher Level Economics on a Sunday evening?+

You get told, with options. Higher Level Economics is one of the courses this belt is genuinely short of, and the honest answers are a different evening, a short wait for a slot to open, or a specialist outside the UAE whose time zone we state before you agree to anything. What we will not do is fill the hour with a strong generalist and let you discover the gap from the next report. Disclosing that in advance is unusual in this market and it is the policy anyway.

Is a group class at a Motor City centre better value than one-to-one online?+

For content coverage in a shared syllabus, often yes: the price per student is lower and a well-run group moves faster than a lone student will. For a specific weakness or an internal assessment, no, because the hour belongs to the group and your child's particular gap may never come up. There is also the drive each way to count. Centres operating with premises and staff need a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, which is worth asking to see before enrolling.

Flag of Arabian Ranches

One answer for ten communities, and the numbers behind it

If you are weighing an in-home tutor in Arabian Ranches against the same search in Ranches 2, Dubai Hills, Mudon or Remraam, the figures on this page should settle it. The drive changes, the quoted rate changes, and the pool of people who can teach Higher Level Physics at seven in the evening does not. Send the subject, the level, the school and the window that works after the bus arrives, and we will tell you who is free. The trial lesson is free on a stated condition: one session, before any payment, with written feedback afterwards. Lessons run live online on Gulf Standard Time and move for Ramadan or travel without losing the teacher.
