IGCSE Tutor near me in Arabian Ranches

A parent searching for an IGCSE tutor near me in Arabian Ranches is usually asking a timing question dressed as a location question: is it too late, and how long will this take? This page answers the timing version. It sets out what each term of Year 10 and Year 11 is actually for, how many weeks a particular kind of problem takes to fix, and which months in Dubai are the cheap ones. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Arabian Ranches

The question underneath the search is about weeks, not kilometres

Almost nobody searching this phrase actually cares where the tutor sits. What they want to know is whether there is still time, how many weeks of help a particular problem needs, and whether the money would be better spent now or in January. Those are answerable questions, and the answers depend on the point in the two-year course rather than on the point on the map. So this page is organised by calendar rather than by catchment.

The IGCSE is a two-year course and families treat it as a one-year course, which is where most of the wasted money in this market goes. Year 10 is where content can be learned with room to breathe, where a weak foundation from Year 9 can still be rebuilt properly, and where the school forms the judgement that sets the tier your child will be entered on. Year 11 is where that judgement gets tested. By the spring of Year 11 the available moves have narrowed to paper technique, and technique is a smaller lever than content.

The second thing worth knowing is that different problems take wildly different lengths of time. One topic that was never taught is two or three sessions. Arithmetic that collapses under time pressure is six to eight weeks, because it needs short frequent practice rather than long lessons. A whole specification still unmarked in November is a two-term project and no honest tutor will tell you otherwise. A parent who knows which of those they are buying can budget. A parent who does not buys weekly hours indefinitely and hopes.

The third is that the price of the same hour moves across the year. September and October are the quietest booking weeks in Dubai and the specialist bands sit at the bottom of their published range. February and March are peak, evening slots are scarce, and April brings examiner-led rates quoted at the top of the market for work that content time has already made harder. The cheap months and the useful months are the same months, which is a pleasant coincidence and the single most actionable thing on this page.

On delivery, the honest position: IB Gram does not run home visits in Dubai. Sending tutors to houses is a service we operate only in India. Teaching for families in Arabian Ranches is one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, with screen sharing for past papers, mark schemes and working. For a plan measured in weeks that turns out to matter more than it sounds, because the plan only works if the sessions actually happen, and out here a session that depends on a drive along Al Qudra Road at five o'clock is a session that sometimes does not.

At a glance

  • Year 10 is where content can still be taught; Year 11 is where it gets tested
  • One untaught topic is two or three sessions; a whole specification is two terms
  • September and October are the cheapest and the most useful booking months
  • Mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies occupy real timetable space
  • Five IGCSE subjects at E or grade 3 are required for MoE equivalency
  • Lessons run live online; home visits are a service we operate only in India
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Four qualifications sit behind this search, and which one your child is entered for changes the timing more than anything else does. Entry windows, series available and the length of the course all differ. Each entry below is written around when things have to happen rather than around what the qualification is.

CAIEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

A two-year course examined in a June and a November series in the UAE, with entry deadlines falling a full term or more before each sitting. Most subjects run Core and Extended routes, entered by the school on the strength of Year 10 work. The syllabus code on the entry, 0580 or 0625 for example, fixes exactly which papers are sat and which practical arrangement applies.

The dominant route in the British-curriculum schools serving Arabian Ranches. Because the tier judgement is formed from Year 10 performance, the most consequential tutoring in this qualification happens a full year before the papers, which is precisely when almost nobody buys it and when it costs the least.

PEARSONAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Examined in May or June and again in November, with a modular structure available in some subjects. Foundation and Higher routes carry different grade ceilings. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, which shows how long a late entry takes to produce a usable grade.

Used by a minority of Dubai schools and sometimes alongside Cambridge in the same school for different subjects. For a family in Arabian Ranches the practical consequence is that two of your child's subjects may sit on different timetables and different practical arrangements, so the plan has to be built per code rather than per child.

OLEVELAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge O Level

Examined in the same June and November series as Cambridge IGCSE and assessed by written papers, with fewer practical and coursework options in several subjects. Some schools enter candidates for O Level in particular subjects where it suits the cohort better. The content overlaps substantially with IGCSE but the papers and the practical arrangements are not interchangeable.

Less common in the Dubai schools serving this belt than Cambridge IGCSE, but common enough that it is worth confirming rather than assuming. If a tutor plans from an IGCSE past paper for a subject entered at O Level, the practical component and some of the question styles will be wrong, and nobody will notice until a mock.

ALAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

A Level, where the grades are heading

Two years of three or four subjects, examined externally. Entry depends on the IGCSE grade in the same subject, usually set school by school and published as a subject-specific condition rather than a single threshold. Further Mathematics in particular tends to carry a high Mathematics condition, which makes one June grade unexpectedly decisive.

Most British-curriculum schools near Arabian Ranches continue to A Level, and their published entry conditions are the real deadline behind this whole page. Read them in Year 10, not in Year 11, because a condition read early is a target and a condition read late is a disappointment with paperwork attached.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Lead time varies by subject as much as by problem, mostly because some subjects reward short frequent practice and others need long marked pieces. The notes below give each subject with its codes and with the honest answer to the question this page is about: how long before a grade moves.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 Core and Extended · Pearson 4MA1 Foundation and Higher

The fastest-moving subject on a short timescale, because most of the lost marks are technique. Algebraic manipulation and multi-step problems respond to six to eight weeks of short frequent practice. Calculator rules differ between the two boards and have been revised recently, so confirm on the awarding body's own page which of your child's papers allows one; families routinely discover it three weeks before the series.

English Language

Cambridge 0500 · Pearson 4EA1

Directed writing and reading response, plus a speaking endorsement assessed by the centre. Marks move with structure and with answering the actual question, both of which need marked drafts rather than lessons. Budget four to six weeks and expect the student to write between sessions; nothing else works in this subject.

English Literature

Cambridge 0475 · Pearson 4ET1

Set texts and extract analysis, with coursework options in some routes. The texts are chosen by the school, so a tutor must be working on the right ones from the first session. Essay structure improves in four weeks; genuine textual knowledge takes a term, which is why Year 10 is the right time.

Physics

Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1

Electricity and magnetism carry the largest share of lost marks, and units and significant figures carry the cheapest. The cheap marks come back in two or three weeks. Rebuilding electricity properly takes six. The practical arrangement depends on the entry and should be confirmed before any plan is written.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1

Moles and electrolysis are the slow repairs, taking five or six weeks because they are conceptual rather than procedural. The alternative-to-practical paper is the fast one: precise experimental writing is teachable in a handful of sessions and is worth more marks than most students expect.

Biology

Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1

Content-heavy, which makes it look like a long project and it usually is not. Most of the gap is command terms and precision, and four to six weeks of marked practice moves it. Diagram and data questions are the quickest wins available in any science at this level.

Business Studies and Economics

Cambridge 0450 and 0455

Application rather than knowledge is the problem in nearly every case: a student describes the concept where the question wants it applied to the case material. That is an examination-technique fix of four to six weeks, and it is one of the few places where late intervention genuinely works.

Computer Science

Cambridge 0478 · Pearson 4CP0

Theory papers plus programming. The theory responds quickly to structured practice; the programming does not, because fluency comes from writing code weekly over months. Start in Year 10 if the programming is the weakness, and do not expect eight weeks to produce a confident programmer.

Geography and History

Cambridge 0460 and 0470

Case-study detail and command terms carry the marks, and fieldwork or source papers have their own technique. Technique moves in four to six weeks. Case-study knowledge is memory work the student has to do, so the honest lead time depends almost entirely on what happens between sessions.

French, Spanish and other modern languages

Cambridge and Pearson language specifications

Reading, listening, writing and a centre-assessed oral. Writing and the oral improve fastest because both are formulaic once the structures are drilled. Listening is the slow one and needs daily exposure rather than weekly lessons, which makes it a Year 10 project rather than a Year 11 rescue.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Every format below has a stated length, because the whole argument of this page is that time is the variable that matters. All of them run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, from your child's own specification and marked work rather than from a generic scheme.

The Year 10 foundation block

Eight to twelve sessions during Year 10, aimed at the Year 9 foundations that will otherwise cap everything afterwards. This is the cheapest and most effective purchase in the whole qualification, and it is also the one almost nobody makes, because in Year 10 nothing feels urgent yet.

  • Targets foundations, not the current topic
  • Runs in the quiet, cheaper months of the year
  • Aims at the tier judgement the school is forming
  • Ends with a written plan for Year 11

Weekly one-to-one through Year 11

The same teacher each week from the autumn to the series, matched to the syllabus code on the entry. The slot is held for the term and moves for Ramadan, mocks or the exam timetable without changing teacher, because nothing in the arrangement depends on a car reaching the community.

  • Matched to the exact specification and tier
  • Screen-shared past papers and mark schemes
  • Written feedback after each session
  • Reviewed against the school's own assessments

Two hours after the mocks

The highest-value two hours available in a Year 11 year: one session reading the actual script against the published mark scheme, one turning that into a list of components rather than topics. Most families discuss the grade and file the script, which is the wrong way round.

  • The script is read, not the grade discussed
  • Lost marks sorted into five named categories
  • Output is a component list and a week-by-week plan
  • No commitment to weekly lessons afterwards

The summer rebuild between Year 10 and Year 11

A short block across July and August for a student who has reached the end of Year 10 with a real content gap. Teaching in the summer is unhurried and the market is quiet, so this is both the easiest block to staff and one of the cheapest to buy.

  • Teaches what was never taught, rather than revising
  • Runs while families are travelling, time-converted
  • Quiet market means wider choice of teacher
  • Sets up the tier conversation in September

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Arabian Ranches

01

Where your child sits in the two-year cycle, and what that means tonight

The first useful thing to establish is not the subject but the year group, because Year 10 and Year 11 are different purchases with different prices and different ceilings. In Year 10 the school is still forming its judgement about which tier to enter your child on, content is still being delivered for the first time, and there is room to go back to Year 9 material without losing ground. Anything bought in Year 10 is an investment in capability.

In Year 11 the available levers shrink month by month. Content can still be taught in the autumn. By January it is being revised rather than taught. By March the honest work is paper technique, and by April it is pacing, command terms and not losing marks you already know how to win. None of that is useless, but it is a narrower kind of help, and the rate for it is higher because everyone wants it at once. A parent deciding in Year 10 is choosing from a wide menu at a low price. A parent deciding in April is choosing from a short menu at the top of the market.

There is a third position worth naming, which is the summer between the two years. A student who finishes Year 10 with a real content gap has eight quiet weeks in which that gap can be taught properly, while the Dubai market is empty and the teachers who are impossible to book in February are available. Families in Arabian Ranches are frequently travelling then, and an online slot follows the family with the time converted. Almost nobody uses that window, which is why it is the best value in the two years.

02

What each term of the course is actually for

Set the two years out as a grid and the decisions become obvious. Each cell has a natural job, and work done in the wrong cell either costs more or achieves less. The grid below is written for a Dubai three-term school year on the September start, which is what the British-curriculum schools serving this belt run, with the long break across July and August and the shorter breaks in winter and spring.

Two cells deserve particular attention. The spring break in Year 11 is the last long stretch of usable revision time before the series, and it is the right moment for full timed papers rather than for topic revision, because a full paper is the only thing that tests pacing. And the winter break in Year 10 is the cheapest moment in the whole two years to fix a weak foundation, since nothing is urgent, the market is quiet and there is still a year and a half in which the fix can compound.

The grid also exposes the commonest error, which is buying heavily in term three of Year 11 and nothing before it. By then the content is fixed, the tier is fixed, the forecast grade has been submitted, and the only remaining variable is how well the student executes what they already know. That is worth buying. It is simply worth far less than the same money would have bought in the autumn, and it is the single most expensive way to arrive at a June grade.

03

How long an IGCSE fix actually takes

Ask a provider how many sessions a subject needs and the answer will be a number. Ask how many sessions a problem needs and the answer becomes useful, because the honest range runs from two sessions to two terms depending entirely on what is wrong. Nobody can give that answer without seeing a marked script, which is why the first thing we ask for is work rather than a description of the difficulty.

The pattern across the table is that procedural problems move fast and conceptual ones move slowly. A topic that was never taught is a gap, and gaps close quickly once somebody fills them. Arithmetic that fails under time pressure is a habit, and habits need short frequent practice over weeks rather than long sessions. Moles in Chemistry and listening in a modern language are conceptual, and they need months because the student has to build something rather than learn something.

The last column is the one families skip and it decides everything. Every row depends on work the student does between sessions. Six weeks of weekly lessons with no practice in between produces roughly two weeks of progress, and there is no tutor in Dubai at any rate who can get round that. A plan that specifies what happens between sessions, in hours, is a plan. A plan that specifies only the sessions is a standing order. The same arithmetic explains why two sessions a week rarely doubles progress for a Year 11 student in this community: the hours exist, but the practice time between them does not, and the practice is where the learning settles.

04

The components that are not sat in the examination hall

A surprising amount of an IGCSE profile is settled outside the examination hall, on the school's own schedule, and those components have deadlines rather than exam dates. Families planning a tutoring block around the June series routinely miss them, then discover in March that a speaking assessment was recorded in January or that a coursework route closed in November. The dates belong to the centre, which means the exams officer is the only reliable source for them.

What tutoring can do with these components is narrower than with written papers, and the boundary matters. Format practice is legitimate and useful: rehearsing the shape of a speaking task, drilling the experimental writing that an alternative-to-practical paper rewards, teaching how a fieldwork write-up is structured. Producing any part of the submitted work is not legitimate, and for coursework routes it is a malpractice question rather than a style question. Feedback belongs on the student's own draft, as comments, never as edits inside the file.

The practical move is to ask the school for a list, in writing, of every component that is assessed internally or recorded by the centre, with its date. Then build the tutoring plan around those dates as well as around the written papers. For a student taking nine subjects there may be four or five such components, scattered from November to April, and each of them is a piece of the final grade that can be prepared for in advance rather than survived.

Mandatory UAE subjects alongside an IGCSE timetable

Any honest conversation about how many tutoring hours a week a Dubai student can absorb has to count the whole timetable, and the whole timetable includes subjects that families outside the UAE never have to think about. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA's requirements had to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year.

The organisational rules are specific. Schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language; Arabic is the primary language for Social Studies for Arab students; and for non-Arabs the school's licensed-curriculum language applies in Islamic Education and in Moral, Social and Cultural studies. Teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic must have appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects, which is a credential a parent can reasonably ask about.

Instructional time is calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit, schools may vary lesson length provided the weekly total is met, and it is advised that any mandatory subject lesson runs at least twenty-five minutes. Add that to nine IGCSE subjects and a Year 11 week is fuller than a quick count of examined subjects suggests. It is also worth knowing that Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five accredited subjects required for Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, where the requirement is five subjects at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus an Advanced Level condition. One page ranking for queries like this states six subjects; the sourced figure is five.

When an IGCSE hour is cheap in Dubai, and when it is dear

Rates in this market move with demand across the year, and the movement is large enough to plan around. September and October are the quietest booking weeks: enquiries are low, specialists have empty evenings, and a qualified subject tutor sits at the bottom of the published band, which Unitors puts at AED 150 for IGCSE. By February and March the same person is at the top of the specialist band that Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 table gives as AED 200 to 450 and above, and the good evening slots are gone. In April, examiner-led rates get quoted; BartyED publishes AED 650 an hour.

The homework-help tier moves least, because it is not capacity-constrained in the same way: EdFlik lists online tutoring from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52 throughout. In-home visits move most, because a travelling tutor has fewer slots to sell and sells them to whoever is most desperate; Bestimate quotes AED 180 to 350 with travel included and independent providers advertise up to AED 500, with monthly packages at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour visits against roughly AED 799 for eight online sessions.

Put the two halves of this page together and they point the same way. The cheap months are September, October and the summer. The useful months, where content can still be taught rather than revised, are September, October and the summer. There is no trade-off to manage: the correct time to buy is the time it costs least. Every figure here belongs to the provider named, on the date its own page carried that rate, and none of it is an IB Gram price list. Our first lesson is free so that the teaching can be judged before any money moves at all.

Who may legally tutor your child, and how a parent checks

Private tutoring in the UAE is lawful and permitted, and it runs on a permit rather than on trust. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE's own service page, Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the smart app, the website or the e-services system. Because it costs nothing, holding one is a question of diligence rather than of money.

Eligibility is broad: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. Anyone offering private tutoring without a permit is subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws, and because no schedule of amounts is published, a specific figure circulating online should be treated as unverified. An operation with premises and staff is a different legal category and needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, obtained through initial approval and renewed annually.

Two questions cover most of what a parent needs. Can I see the permit, in your own name, with its expiry? And do you teach at my child's school? The second matters because the permit's code of conduct bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school, and ADEK's professional-ethics rules say the same for Abu Dhabi private and charter school staff. A third question is worth adding where lessons are delivered over video from outside the UAE: ask where the teacher is based and what time zone they work in, because that should be disclosed rather than discovered.

08

Booking from Arabian Ranches, and the honest limits

The sequence is short and it starts with paperwork rather than with a conversation. Ask the school's exams officer for the syllabus code, the tier and the administrative zone for each subject, and for a list of internally assessed components with their dates. Then send us the subject, the code, the year group, the last marked piece of work and the evening window that genuinely exists after the bus arrives. That is enough to say who is free and how many weeks the fix should take.

The trial lesson is free and the condition is stated: one session, before any payment, with no card details taken beforehand and written feedback afterwards. It runs as a working lesson on a real topic, because the only test that matters is whether your child can do something at the end of the hour that they could not do at the start. If the match is wrong we change the teacher rather than asking you to persist with it for a term.

Where we cannot help, we say so. Mathematics and the sciences fill first in the evening slots, and November, December and January are the busiest booking weeks of the Dubai year for the reasons set out above. If no specialist is free for your subject and slot, the options are a different evening, a short wait, or a teacher whose subject depth we describe accurately before you decide. Nobody here promises a grade in any subject, and nobody will produce coursework, a draft or any part of an assessed submission. Both of those limits are the point rather than the small print.

Where we tutor

Where the evenings are, community by community

A plan measured in weeks only works if the sessions happen, so the useful local detail is not distance but how many evenings a week genuinely exist in each community. The notes below cover bus arrivals, the realistic slot, and what families in each place tend to be buying this term.

Arabian Ranches

Secondary students travel out, with buses arriving between 15:45 and 16:15. Two weekday evenings and one weekend morning is the honest budget for a Year 11 student also sitting school assessments, and a plan built on four sessions a week will fail by the third one.

Arabian Ranches 2

Casa, Rosa and Palma, with slightly longer bus runs. A 17:30 start works where 17:00 does not, which matters for a weekly arrangement because the slot that is always slightly too early is the slot that gets cancelled.

Arabian Ranches 3

Furthest out, and the community where weekend mornings do most of the work. Families here tend to protect one long weekend session for timed past papers, which is the right instinct because a full paper does not fit inside a weekday hour.

Dubai Hills Estate

Shorter school runs buy roughly one extra usable evening a week. Over a six-week block that is a whole additional session, which is why the same plan sometimes finishes a fortnight earlier for a family here than for one further along Al Qudra Road.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

Apartment communities with centres running group revision in the January window. A group course covers content; the script reading that should follow a mock is individual work, and families here often need only the second part.

Town Square and Mudon

Growing Year 10 and Year 11 numbers, and the communities where this page's Year 10 argument lands hardest. Demand concentrates in Mathematics and the sciences, which are also the subjects where starting a year early changes the tier.

DAMAC Hills, DAMAC Hills 2 and Remraam

The longest afternoon journeys on the belt. A 19:30 online slot is usually the only one that survives a full term here, and it is also the slot with the widest choice of teacher, because nobody has to drive to it.

The British-curriculum schools families on this belt use for IGCSE. Each is the examination centre for its own candidates, so its exams officer holds the entry code, the tier and the administrative zone. Students we support attend schools in this group; no further relationship is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Get the code, the tier and the internal dates

Ask the exams officer for the syllabus code, the tier and the administrative zone for each subject, plus a written list of internally assessed components and their dates. Those five facts shape the plan more than any conversation about tutoring will, and the school can produce them in a day.

  2. 02

Say the year group, then the problem

Year 10 and Year 11 are different purchases with different ceilings and different prices. Naming the year group first means the advice you get is honest about what is still possible, rather than a quotation that would have been identical whichever year your child was in.

  3. 03

Send a marked script, not a description

Lead times depend on what kind of problem it is, and only a marked script shows that. Two or three sessions for an untaught topic, six to eight weeks for arithmetic under pressure, two terms for a specification still largely unmarked. Nobody can tell those apart without seeing the work.

  4. 04

Take the free trial lesson before paying anything

One lesson at no charge, booked before payment and with no card details taken beforehand. Written feedback follows. The test is whether your child can do something new by the end of the hour, which is a harder and more useful standard than whether the session felt pleasant.

  5. 05

    Agree what happens between sessions

Every lead time on this page assumes work between lessons, and the plan should say how much, in hours, per week. Six weeks of lessons without practice produces about two weeks of progress. Writing the homework into the plan is the cheapest thing anyone can do to make the rest of it work.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Lead times published by problem, not by subject

Two or three sessions for an untaught topic, four to six weeks for command terms, two terms for a specification still unmarked. Publishing the slow answers alongside the fast ones is the only way the numbers mean anything, and it is why the first thing we ask for is a marked script.

The cheap months and the useful months are the same

Specialist rates in Dubai sit at the bottom of their published range in September, October and the summer, which are also the months in which content can still be taught rather than revised. That coincidence is the most actionable thing on this page and nobody else in this search result mentions it.

The internal components are counted

Speaking endorsements, practical arrangements, oral components and coursework routes are assessed on the school's schedule, not the awarding body's. A plan built only around the June papers misses them. We ask for the list of internal dates before anything is scheduled.

The whole timetable is counted too

Mandatory Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies occupy real weekly hours, calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit, in separate classes by group. A plan that pretends a Year 11 week has five free evenings fails in week three, and no competitor page researched for this project mentions these subjects at all.

Clear about delivery, limits and claims

Teaching is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; home visits are a service we operate only in India. No part of coursework or any assessed submission is produced for a student. No grade is promised in any subject. Each of those is stated here rather than implied.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Arabian Ranches: your questions answered

Is there an IGCSE tutor near me in Arabian Ranches, or are lessons online?+

Lessons are online. IB Gram does not run home visits anywhere in the UAE; sending tutors to houses is a service we operate in India only. Teaching here is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, with screen sharing for past papers, mark schemes and working. On a plan measured in weeks that matters practically rather than philosophically: the plan only delivers if the sessions happen, and a 17:30 session that depends on a drive along Al Qudra Road at the worst hour of the day is a session that sometimes does not.

My child is in Year 10. Is it too early to start IGCSE support?+

It is the best time, and almost nobody uses it. In Year 10 the school is still forming the judgement that decides which tier your child is entered on, content is being delivered for the first time, and Year 9 foundations can still be rebuilt without losing ground. The market is also quieter, so specialist rates sit at the bottom of their published range. Everything bought in Year 10 is an investment in capability. Everything bought in April of Year 11 is paper technique at peak prices, which is worth less for more money.

How many weeks does it take to fix one weak IGCSE topic?+

A single topic that was genuinely never taught is usually two or three sessions, and the evidence is a marked past-paper question on that topic scoring well. The slower repairs are habits rather than gaps: arithmetic that collapses under time pressure takes six to eight weeks of short frequent practice, misread command terms four to six weeks of marked rewriting, and a specification still largely unmarked is a two-term project. Every one of those assumes about an hour of the student's own practice a week between sessions.

Which IGCSE components are not sat in the examination hall?+

More than most families expect. Speaking endorsements in English and oral components in modern languages are conducted and recorded by the centre on its own schedule. Science practical arrangements vary by entry between a practical paper and a written alternative. Some English Literature and humanities routes offer coursework marked by the centre and moderated by the board. Art and Design is portfolio-based. Forecast grades are submitted by the school from its own evidence. Ask the exams officer for a written list of all of them with dates, and plan around those as well as the papers.

How is the speaking endorsement in IGCSE English assessed?+

It is conducted and recorded by your child's school as the examination centre, on a schedule the centre sets rather than one published with the written timetable, and the recordings go to the awarding body. What that means practically is that it can be over before a family has thought about it. Tutoring can rehearse the task format, the timing and the kind of development the task rewards, all of which is legitimate preparation. The assessment itself belongs to the school, and nobody outside it has any role in the recording or the mark.

Do IGCSE tutoring rates in Dubai rise closer to the June series?+

Yes, and the movement is large enough to plan around. A qualified subject tutor whom Unitors publishes from AED 150 an hour in the quiet months sits at the top of the specialist band Bestimate gives as AED 200 to 450 and above by February and March, when evening slots are scarce. In April examiner-led rates get quoted; BartyED publishes AED 650 an hour. The homework-help tier moves least, with EdFlik from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52 throughout. In-home rates move most, because travelling tutors have the fewest slots to sell.

Which months are the cheapest to book IGCSE tuition in Dubai?+

September, October and the summer between Year 10 and Year 11. Enquiries are low, specialists have empty evenings, and published specialist rates sit at the bottom of their range. The useful coincidence is that those are also the months in which content can still be taught rather than revised, so there is no trade-off between the cheap time and the effective time. The dearest months are February, March and April, when demand peaks, the good slots are gone and the only remaining work is examination technique.

Do Arabic and Islamic Education have to be studied alongside IGCSE in Dubai?+

Yes. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA required its arrangements to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. Instructional time is calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit, with at least twenty-five minutes advised for any mandatory subject lesson. For a Year 11 family the practical consequence is that the week is fuller than a count of examined subjects suggests, which is worth knowing before adding three tutoring sessions to it.

Why must Arabic and Islamic Education classes be taught separately for Arab and non-Arab students?+

Because the curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ between the two groups. KHDA requires schools to organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and states that combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited. Standard Arabic is the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language, while non-Arabs are taught Islamic Education and Moral, Social and Cultural studies in the school's licensed-curriculum language. Teachers of these subjects need appropriate KHDA approval to teach them.

How much weekly timetable time do the mandatory UAE subjects take?+

KHDA calculates mandatory-subject instructional time on a forty-minute lesson unit, and schools may vary the length of a lesson provided the total weekly time is met, with at least twenty-five minutes advised for any single mandatory subject lesson. The exact weekly total depends on the subject and the year group, so your child's school is the place to get the figure. The reason to ask is budgeting: once those hours are counted alongside nine IGCSE subjects, the number of tutoring sessions a Year 11 week can actually absorb is usually two.

Does the UAE count all nine of my child's IGCSE subjects?+

No. For Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track a student must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and Arabic and Islamic education are not included among those five. There is also an Advanced Level condition: proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. One page ranking for queries like this states that six subjects are required; the sourced figure is five. Verify on moe.gov.ae before relying on either.

Can two children in one villa share an IGCSE session?+

Only where they are in the same year sitting the same specification at the same tier, which is rare outside twins. Otherwise an hour split between a Year 10 student meeting a topic for the first time and a Year 11 student drilling paper technique gives neither of them a proper lesson. Consecutive one-to-one slots on the same evening work better: the house is disturbed once and each lesson stays specific. Where the overlap is genuine we will say so rather than selling two hours that could have been one.

What evening slot works for a Year 11 student in Arabian Ranches?+

Buses into the community arrive between about 15:45 and 16:15, and a student needs to eat, so 17:00 is the earliest realistic start and 17:30 is more reliable. Further out, in Arabian Ranches 3, DAMAC Hills or Remraam, arrivals are later and 18:00 or 19:30 works better. The practical point is to pick the slot that is comfortably late rather than ambitiously early, because the slot that is always slightly too soon is the slot that gets cancelled, and a cancelled session breaks a plan measured in weeks.

Should my child drop an IGCSE subject to protect the others?+

It is a conversation for the school rather than for a tutor, and it needs to happen before entries close rather than after. The relevant facts are that Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track counts five subjects at no less than E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education, and that A Level entry conditions are usually subject-specific. So the question is not how many subjects but which ones. Bring the current grades and the published sixth-form conditions to the meeting, and ask the school what dropping one actually frees up in timetable hours.

Does a tutor need a permit to teach my child over video from abroad?+

The UAE permit regime applies to people providing private tutoring in the UAE, and the MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 is the route for them. Where a teacher is based outside the country the position is different, and the honest thing a provider can do is tell you where the teacher is and what time zone they work in rather than leave you to assume. Ask that question directly. Two ranking competitors route UAE parents to numbers in other countries without disclosing where the teaching comes from.

What happens if no IGCSE tutor is free in our evening window?+

You get told, with the real options. Mathematics and the sciences fill first in the evening slots, and November, December and January are the busiest booking weeks of the Dubai year. The alternatives are a different evening, a short wait for a slot to open, or a teacher whose subject depth we describe accurately before you decide. We will not fill the hour with a generalist and let the gap appear in a mock script. No competitor page researched for this project discloses a coverage limit of any kind.

Buy the weeks, not the kilometres

The useful question behind this search is how long the fix takes and when it is worth starting, and both answers depend on the year group and on what a marked script shows. If your child is in Year 10, this is the cheapest and most effective moment in the two-year course. If they are in Year 11, the autumn is the last stretch in which content can be taught rather than revised. Send the subject, the syllabus code, the year group, the last marked piece of work and the evening that genuinely exists once the bus arrives. The trial lesson is free on a stated condition: one session, before any payment, with written feedback afterwards.
