IB DP Sports Exercise and Health Science Home Tutor in Dubai

Families searching for an IB DP Sports Exercise and Health Science home tutor in Dubai mostly want one thing answered first: the price. This page answers it with published AED bands, names the five things that move the number in this emirate, and sets out what a term actually costs end to end. Lessons themselves are one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time around training sessions and the Dubai school run.

  • Every AED figure carries its source and the month it was read
  • Marking of written work included in the session, not billed separately
  • Early-morning and post-training slots in Gulf Standard Time
  • Free trial lesson, no card details required to book it

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

The price question, answered before the sales pitch

Three of the six strongest competitor pages in this search cluster publish no price at all. One of them has a frequently asked question that asks what tutoring costs and then declines to answer it. Of the two that do quote, both quote in US dollars, which is not the currency any Dubai family hands a tutor. That is the state of the market a parent walks into, and it is the reason this page leads with money rather than with adjectives about dedication.

Here is the shape of it. Published rates in Dubai, read in October 2026, run from roughly AED 45 an hour for a university-student tutor working online to AED 650 an hour for a premium named practitioner, with qualified subject tutors online clustering between AED 150 and AED 300 and in-home visits between AED 180 and AED 500 because the drive is inside the rate. Sports, Exercise and Health Science sits towards the upper part of whichever band you choose, for one unglamorous reason: it is a small-entry Diploma subject and the number of teachers who have taken it to examination is limited.

What this page then does, which nobody else in the cluster does, is explain what moves the number in Dubai specifically. Session hour matters here more than almost anywhere, because a swimmer training at Hamdan Sports Complex before school and a footballer at an academy in Dubai Sports City after it have almost no free hours in common with a tutor's easiest slots. Format matters, because an in-home visit crossing Al Khail Road at seventeen hundred is paid for by someone. Scarcity matters. Proximity to the May session matters. And whether marking is included matters most of all, because two rates that look identical can be very different products.

On delivery, the position is stated before any figure is discussed. IB Gram teaches UAE students one-to-one over live video, with screen-shared past papers and a document the student writes in. IB Gram does not run home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE, and keeps no UAE office; home visits are available only in India. That is a limit worth knowing before a payment, not after one. It is also why the rate conversation can stay honest: no hour of a tutor's evening is being spent on Sheikh Zayed Road and then billed to you as teaching.

The rest of this page prices a term properly — the hourly bands, a cost-in-context table against Dubai school fees, the extras that quietly change the total, what a legally permitted tutor costs given that the MoHRE permit itself is free, and what happens to the price when no specialist is available at the hour you need. Where a figure belongs to another provider, their name and the month the figure was read are printed next to it.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Price tracks level more reliably than it tracks anything else. The three stages below are where Dubai families most often buy SEHS-adjacent support, and each carries a different band.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

Middle Years Programme

MYP sciences and physical and health education are assessed against criteria, with no external paper. Rates here sit at the lower end of every published band because the supply of tutors who can teach it is wide. Families usually buy MYP support to build study habits and scientific writing rather than to chase a mark, and a single weekly hour is the normal shape.

Dubai has a large MYP cohort because several continuum schools run the whole IB sequence on one campus. The cost consequence is that MYP help is easy to source locally and cheap by comparison, so paying a Diploma specialist rate at this stage is rarely good value unless a specific transition is being managed.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

SEHS is a group 4 science examined at the end of the two years, with written papers plus an internally assessed scientific investigation. Content runs across exercise physiology and nutrition, biomechanics, and sports psychology and motor learning, with further depth at Higher Level. Published rates for IB specialist teaching sit between AED 200 and AED 450 or more per hour.

Dubai Diploma cohorts are small in this subject, which is exactly why the rate firms. A family in Jumeirah may find three biology tutors within a short drive and no SEHS teacher at all. That scarcity is also the strongest argument for buying online: the constraint becomes who is free in Gulf Standard Time rather than who lives nearby.

COREAges 16-19 · across both DP years

Scientific investigation and the collaborative sciences project

Every group 4 student produces an internally assessed scientific investigation and takes part in a collaborative sciences project of around ten hours that is not separately graded. Support for the investigation is usually bought as a short block of four to six sessions rather than an open-ended weekly commitment, which makes it one of the easier items to budget for.

Investigation blocks are priced per session like any other, so the total is predictable: a block at the specialist band lands in the low thousands of dirhams rather than the tens of thousands some families fear. Confirm current weightings and deadlines with the school's Diploma coordinator, since guides are revised and internal dates differ between Dubai schools.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Rates differ by subject as well as by level, mostly because supply differs. The subjects below are the ones SEHS families buy alongside it, roughly in order of how easy they are to source in Dubai.

Sports, Exercise and Health Science

SL and HL

A small-entry group 4 science covering exercise physiology and nutrition, biomechanics, and sports psychology and motor learning. Scarcity puts it at the upper end of the specialist band. Marks are lost on applying physiology to an unfamiliar sporting scenario and on quantitative biomechanics.

Biology

HL and SL

The widest supply of any group 4 subject in Dubai, so the easiest rate to negotiate. Shares cell respiration, the cardiovascular and respiratory systems and homeostasis with SEHS, which is why one tutor can often cover both and why pairing them reduces the effective hourly cost.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Supplies the energetics and biochemistry underneath SEHS nutrition and metabolism content. Mid-band pricing, good availability. Students who cannot handle moles and energetics tend to produce weak quantitative sections in the scientific investigation.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

SL and HL

Statistics, correlation and modelling are the tools the scientific investigation needs. The most commonly bought pairing with SEHS, and usually the cheapest to add because supply is deep in Dubai.

Physics

HL and SL

Forces, moments, momentum and projectile motion are the biomechanics content under a different name. Students taking both find biomechanics straightforward; students without physics are the ones who need extra hours on it, which changes a budget.

Psychology

HL and SL

Overlaps the sports psychology and motor learning material, including arousal, anxiety, goal setting and skill acquisition. Moderate supply in Dubai and moderate rates, and useful to students who find the behavioural half of SEHS easier than the physiological half.

Business Management

HL and SL

A frequent Diploma pairing for students heading towards sports management or sports marketing. Wide supply, mid-band rates. Shares no content with SEHS, so it is budgeted entirely separately.

Geography

HL and SL

Chosen alongside SEHS by students interested in health, population and urban environments. Easy to source in Dubai at mid-band rates, and the fieldwork discipline transfers directly to the scientific investigation.

Scientific investigation support

DP group 4

Bought as a short block rather than a term. Question narrowing, method feasibility, data processing technique and criteria-based feedback on the student's own drafts. Predictable cost because the number of sessions is fixed in advance.

Theory of Knowledge

DP core

Usually the last thing families buy and often the best value per hour, because a few sessions on argument structure improve essay writing across every subject including the SEHS extended responses.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Each shape below has a different total cost, not just a different hourly rate. The cheapest hourly rate is often the most expensive way to buy a grade, and the reverse is sometimes true too.

Single weekly hour across a term

The default purchase and the easiest to budget: one session a week for twelve or fourteen weeks. At published mid-band rates a Dubai family is looking at a four-figure dirham total for a term. It suits a student who is broadly coping and needs consistency rather than rescue.

  • Predictable monthly total, easy to compare against a package price
  • Written task set and marked inside the same fee
  • Enough contact to maintain progress, not enough to rebuild a syllabus
  • Simple to pause for a school trip or a competition block

Two sessions a week in an exam term

Roughly double the cost and more than double the effect in the eight weeks before papers, because the marking cycle turns twice as fast. Bestimate's 2026 monthly estimates for specialist exam-year support run from AED 1,000 to over AED 2,000, and two weekly sessions sit at the top of that.

  • One session teaches, the other works through marked papers
  • Error log reviewed weekly rather than fortnightly
  • Usually bought for a fixed eight to ten weeks, then stopped
  • Worth agreeing an end date in advance so the spend is bounded

Fixed investigation block

Four to six sessions around the scientific investigation, priced and bounded up front. The tutor narrows the question, tests whether the method will produce usable data, and reads drafts against the published criteria. The investigation itself remains entirely the student's own work.

  • Total cost known before the first session
  • Timed to the school's internal deadlines, not ours
  • Feedback as questions in the margin, never supplied text
  • Usually the highest value per dirham of anything on this list

Holiday block and Ramadan scheduling

Concentrating hours into the winter or summer break often costs less per unit of progress, because sessions can run longer and nothing competes with them. Through Ramadan, sessions move to post-Iftar evening slots or drop to a lighter cadence rather than stopping, which avoids an expensive restart.

  • Longer sessions in a break, fewer of them
  • Post-Iftar slots during Ramadan at the same rate
  • Schedule follows a family that travels in summer
  • No charge for pausing, and the tutor is held

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What a Dubai family is actually paying for, hour by hour

An hour of tutoring is not one product. At the bottom of the market an hour is teaching time only: somebody explains content, the student listens, nothing is set and nothing is marked. At the top of the market an hour is teaching, a task written for that student, the marking of that task against published criteria, and a record of what changed. Both get described as an hourly rate, and the gap between them explains most of the confusion in this market. A rate of AED 150 with no marking and a rate of AED 280 with marking are not two prices for the same thing.

The second thing a family pays for is scarcity, and Sports, Exercise and Health Science is the clearest example of it in the Diploma. It is a small-entry subject. A Dubai family can find biology tutors easily, chemistry tutors easily, and may find nobody at all who has taught SEHS to examination within a reasonable drive. That shortage does not disappear when the delivery moves online, but it shrinks dramatically, because the pool stops being defined by distance from your villa and starts being defined by who is free at a given hour in Gulf Standard Time.

The third thing is travel, and it is paid whether or not it appears on an invoice. Published in-home rates in Dubai run from AED 180 to AED 500 an hour against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified tutor online, and the difference is substantially the drive. A tutor crossing from Mirdif to Dubai Hills at seventeen hundred spends an unpaid hour in traffic and recovers it inside the rate. Nobody is being dishonest about that; it is simply what in-home tutoring costs anywhere with this much congestion.

IB Gram's own answer on price is a quote after a free trial lesson rather than a published rate card, because level, subject scarcity and session length all move it. What is fixed is the inclusion: the session and the marking of the task that follows it are one fee. Delivery is online, one-to-one, over live video. There are no home visits in the UAE, so no part of the fee is paying for a car.

02

The five things that move the number in Dubai

Rate variation in this emirate is not random, and a parent who knows the five drivers can read a quote accurately in about a minute. Level comes first. Diploma work costs more than IGCSE and IGCSE costs more than middle-school support, because the teaching requires subject depth that fewer people have. Within the Diploma, Higher Level firms the rate again, and a small-entry subject firms it a third time. SEHS at Higher Level is therefore close to the top of whatever band a provider operates in, and a quote that looks surprisingly low for it is usually a generalist.

Session hour comes second, and in this subject it dominates. A competitive swimmer training at Hamdan Sports Complex before school and a footballer training in Dubai Sports City afterwards have perhaps two usable evening hours a week. Those are the hours every other family wants too. Early-morning slots before training are easier to get and, online, cost no more; for an in-home tutor a six-thirty start on the other side of the city is a different proposition entirely.

Format, proximity to the exam and inclusion of marking are the remaining three. In-home carries travel. Rates firm in the weeks before the May session as specialist availability tightens. And marking either is or is not inside the fee. The table below sets each driver against its effect and, more usefully, against what a family can actually do about it, because two of the five are entirely within a parent's control.

One driver that does not exist, despite what some pages imply, is the cost of being legally permitted to teach. The MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 is granted free of charge for two years. A tutor cannot justify a higher rate by pointing at permit costs, because there are none. What they can and should do is confirm that they hold one.

03

Published Dubai rates by level and format

The table below is assembled from other providers' own published figures, read in October 2026, and it is presented as the market rather than as an IB Gram price list. It is laid out by level and format because that is how a family actually shops: a parent is not choosing between brands so much as choosing between an online specialist, an in-home visit and a small group, at a level that is already fixed by their child's year group.

Read it with two cautions. First, the lower bands are usually teaching-only; marked written work is rare below the specialist band, and for a Diploma science that is a significant omission. Second, a single published figure is a starting point rather than a transacted price. Providers quote from a number and then adjust for session length, package size and the hour you want. The ranges here are wide because the market genuinely is wide, not because anybody is being evasive.

For SEHS specifically, expect quotes in the specialist rows rather than the general ones. A provider quoting AED 150 an hour for Higher Level SEHS is either employing somebody whose subject is really biology, or is not including marking, or has not understood the request. Neither is necessarily disqualifying — a strong biology teacher can handle much of the physiology content — but it should be a conscious choice rather than a surprise in week three.

The monthly columns matter more than the hourly ones for budgeting. Published monthly packages in this market sit around AED 799 for roughly eight online sessions and between AED 1,599 and AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. Bestimate's 2026 estimates for a single weekly hour run AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to AED 1,200 mid-market, and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support.

Tutoring cost in context against Dubai school fees

A tutoring rate read on its own tends to look either trivial or outrageous. Read against what a Dubai family already spends on education, it looks like what it is: a marginal addition to a much larger annual number, which is why the right question is not whether it is cheap but whether this particular spend will change anything. KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in the emirate would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. That freeze is the backdrop against which a tutoring decision is now made.

The market itself is large and still growing. Dubai had 227 private schools serving 387,441 students in 2024-25 across seventeen curricula, with the UK curriculum at 37 per cent of enrolment, Indian at 26, US at 14 and IB programmes at 7. The 2026-27 intake adds seven more private schools, four UK curriculum and three IB, creating 16,846 new places, after six opened during 2025-26 and enrolment grew by 6 per cent. More IB places means more small Diploma cohorts, which means more families discovering that their child is one of very few taking SEHS.

The table below prices a term and a two-year plan rather than an hour, because that is the decision actually being made. The school-fee row is deliberately left as a band rather than a figure, since fees vary enormously by school and KHDA publishes them school by school; look up the specific school rather than trusting any average. Every tutoring row uses the published market bands from the previous table.

The honest conclusion from the arithmetic is that a bounded, targeted purchase — an investigation block, or eight weeks of twice-weekly work before papers — is a small fraction of an annual fee and has a clear end date. An open-ended weekly commitment across two Diploma years is a different order of spend and deserves a harder test: specifically, whether the marked work is improving. That test is free to apply and most families never apply it.

05

The extras that change what you actually pay

Hourly rates are compared; totals are paid. The difference between the two is a short list of inclusions and conditions that almost never appear in a headline figure, and a parent who asks about them before booking avoids nearly every unpleasant surprise in this market. The first is marking. If a session is sixty minutes of talking and nothing is set, written or returned, the work of diagnosis has not been bought at all, and a Diploma science is the worst possible subject in which to skip it.

The second is the trial. A free trial is a reasonable offer and a common one, but free with a condition attached is only honest when the condition is stated on the same screen — how long it runs, whether card details are required, whether it commits you to anything. The third is cancellation and rescheduling: a tutor whose rate is ten per cent lower but who charges for any session moved inside twenty-four hours is more expensive for a family whose child competes at weekends, which in this subject is most of them.

The fourth is the replacement policy. If the match is wrong in week two, does a different tutor cost anything, and does the clock start again? The fifth is the exam-term premium: some providers reprice in the spring. The sixth is VAT, where the only responsible answer is to ask whether a quoted figure includes it and to get that in writing; the tax treatment of tuition in the UAE is not something a tutoring page should assert without a Federal Tax Authority citation.

The last item is not a charge but a cost: data. Lead forms collect personal information about a minor, and under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection a family is entitled to know what is collected, why, and how to have it deleted. A provider asking for a child's school, grades and photograph without saying why is taking something from you that is not priced on any rate card.

06

Why SEHS tutors are scarce, and what the subject actually demands

  • Physiology known but not applied to the scenario in the question
  • Biomechanics treated as vocabulary instead of calculation
  • Named psychological models replaced by general observations
  • Investigation questions whose data could never support a conclusion
  • Quantitative sections weakened by shaky statistics rather than weak physiology

Scarcity is the main reason this subject prices differently from biology, so it is worth understanding what the subject asks of a teacher. SEHS is a group 4 science. Its content spans exercise physiology and nutrition of the body systems, biomechanics, and sports psychology and motor learning, with additional depth at Higher Level, and it is examined through written papers plus an internally assessed scientific investigation. Students also complete a collaborative sciences project of around ten hours, which is not separately graded. Confirm the current structure and weightings with the school's Diploma coordinator, because the guides are revised and the coordinator holds the internal deadlines.

The teaching demand is unusual. A SEHS teacher needs the physiology of a biologist, enough mechanics to handle moments and projectile motion properly, and enough psychology to teach arousal, anxiety and skill acquisition without reducing them to common sense. Very few teacher-training routes produce that combination, which is why schools often staff it from physical education or from biology, and why private tutors with real examination experience in it are rare. That is the whole of the scarcity story, and it is why the rate sits where it does.

For students, the pattern of lost marks is specific. The physiology is usually known and poorly applied: a question gives an unfamiliar sporting scenario and asks the student to explain a physiological response within it, and the answer that comes back is a textbook recital with no scenario in it. Biomechanics loses marks quantitatively, because students who are not taking physics treat force and moment questions as vocabulary rather than calculation. And the psychology section loses marks to vagueness, because named theories and models get replaced by general observations about confidence.

The scientific investigation has its own failure pattern, which is a question that cannot produce usable data. A student wants to investigate whether training improves performance, over a timescale and with a sample that cannot possibly show it. Two sessions spent interrogating the question and the method before any data is collected is the highest-value money in this subject, and it is cheap because the block is bounded. Any support on the investigation is teaching and feedback only; the work submitted must be the student's own throughout.

07

Heat, training load and when a Dubai session can actually happen

Scheduling is a cost driver in this subject in a way it simply is not in others, because the student's week is set by facilities and coaches rather than by the family. Outdoor training in Dubai moves to the edges of the day for much of the year, and in the hottest months it moves indoors or into the evening entirely. A swimmer may be in the pool before six in the morning. A footballer at an academy may finish at nine at night. Neither of those students is available in the comfortable late-afternoon window that most tutoring is sold in.

That is also, usefully, syllabus content. Thermoregulation, hydration, heat acclimatisation and the physiological limits of exercise in high ambient temperature are on the course, and a student in this city is living the case study. The Dubai Fitness Challenge each autumn produces an entire month of city-wide activity data and participation to think about. Students who connect their own training logs to the physiology they are being taught remember it; students who meet it only as a diagram in a revision guide do not.

For pricing, the practical consequence is simple. Online delivery makes an early-morning or late-evening slot cost exactly the same as a mid-afternoon one, because nobody is driving anywhere. An in-home tutor asked to arrive at six-thirty in the morning in Mirdif, or at nine at night in Dubai Hills, will either decline or load the rate, and both responses are rational. The awkward hours are precisely where the AED gap between formats is widest.

A second consequence is continuity. Competition seasons, training camps and family travel interrupt everything, and a plan that cannot absorb interruption gets abandoned and then restarted, which is the most expensive way to buy tutoring. Sessions that pause and resume with the same tutor, and that shift to post-Iftar slots through Ramadan rather than stopping for a month, cost less over two Diploma years than any discount on an hourly rate will save.

08

Availability, fallbacks and what each costs

No competitor page in this research set discloses a coverage limit, which is a strange thing to conceal, because every provider has one. For a small-entry subject the limit is real and it is worth publishing. The number of teachers who have taken Sports, Exercise and Health Science to examination and are available in Gulf Standard Time is finite, and at some hours in the exam term there will be nobody free. A family should know that before paying, not during week one.

When it happens, there are three honest options and they have different prices. Waiting for a specialist costs nothing except time, and if the wait is two weeks in October it is usually the right call. Taking a different weekly slot that is covered costs nothing at all and solves most cases. Starting with a closely related specialist — a biology teacher for the physiology, a physics teacher for the biomechanics — covers a large share of the content at that subject's own rate, which is generally lower, and is a reasonable interim rather than a substitute.

What should never happen is a generalist being presented as a subject specialist at a specialist rate. That is the single most common complaint about tutoring agencies anywhere, and it is undetectable for about a month, by which point a term's fees are gone. The protection is simple and free: ask what the tutor's own subject is, ask whether they have taught this specific course to examination, and look at the first marked piece of work critically.

The table sets out what each fallback actually involves. IB Gram does not run home visits in Dubai, so the in-home column exists only to be honest about it: that service is available in India and nowhere in the UAE. If physical presence is a requirement, the in-home rate band earlier on this page is the right place to start shopping, and an emirate-based agency is the right provider.

Permits, regulators and the cost of using somebody legitimate

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated, and a surprising number of pages in this market either ignore that or imply the rules are optional. They are not. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. MoHRE's own service page, Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists no fees and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system.

Because the permit is free, it cannot be a cost driver, and any rate justified by reference to licensing costs is being justified by something that does not exist. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so no figure should be quoted to you, and a page that confidently prints one is repeating a rumour. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct points the same way — so nobody should be offering you your child's own teacher privately.

Schools themselves are regulated by emirate. Dubai's private schools sit with KHDA, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain sit with ADEK, Sharjah with SPEA, Ras Al Khaimah with its Department of Knowledge, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah with the federal Ministry of Education. An operation running premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is a specific licence issued to training institutes. IB Gram holds no such permit and claims no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, MoE or IB accreditation of any kind.

One more cost that is not on a rate card: the mandatory UAE subjects. Arabic, Islamic Education and social or moral studies are required in Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with KHDA requiring separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and calculating instructional time in forty-minute units. Those hours occupy the same week as SEHS, which is part of why Diploma students run short of time and why families end up buying support in the first place.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

Where a family lives changes the price of in-home help far more than it changes the price of online help, and in this subject it also changes when a session can happen at all, because training schedules are set by venues rather than by tutors.

Dubai Sports City

Academies, the ICC Academy and a dense cluster of training facilities mean students here often train twice a day. Sessions get booked either side of training, which is exactly the slot an in-home tutor charges a premium for.

Nad Al Sheba and Meydan

The floodlit Nad Al Sheba Cycle Park runs late into the evening, so cyclists and triathletes here finish training well after a conventional tutoring hour. Online scheduling absorbs that; a driving tutor usually cannot.

Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim and Kite Beach

The Jumeirah beach running track and open-water swimming make this the emirate's endurance-training belt. Heavy Al Wasl and Beach Road traffic at pickup is one of the clearest reasons in-home rates carry a travel loading here.

Al Qudra and Seih Al Salam

The long desert cycle track draws weekend volume from across Dubai, and families out here are a long drive from any tutor. The AED gap between an online hour and an in-home hour is at its widest in this part of the emirate.

Motor City and Dubai Autodrome

Cycling and motorsport facilities with early-morning sessions before the heat, which pushes support into the evening. A reliable connection and a quiet room cost nothing; an extra forty minutes of a tutor's drive does.

Mirdif and Al Warqa

Mushrif Park and nearby sports halls, with a large cohort commuting west towards Al Barsha schools. The sixteen hundred hour is effectively unusable here, which narrows an in-home tutor's viable slots and firms their rate.

Dubai Marina and Jumeirah Beach Residence

Apartment living, so study space is shared and the quiet slot is after dinner. The Beach and the JBR track handle the training side. Late slots are easy to fill online and expensive to fill in person.

Dubai Hills and Arabian Ranches

Villa communities with private facilities and long school runs. Families here are the most likely to compare an in-home monthly package against an online one, and the published gap between the two is roughly double.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Dubai schools with strong sport and IB provision

SEHS tends to appear where a school already invests in sport, because the subject needs both a teacher and facilities. Cohorts are small, which means a student may be one of a handful taking it and may get very little individual attention inside the school day — the usual trigger for buying support.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say the subject, the level and the hour you need

SEHS at SL or HL, the school, and the two or three weekly hours that survive the training schedule. The hour is the hardest constraint in this subject, so naming it first prevents a quote for a slot that was never going to work.

  2. 02

Get the rate before the trial, not after

A quote based on level, subject and session length, given up front, with marking stated as included. If a provider will not quote before a sales call, that is information. Published market bands on this page give you the range any honest quote should sit inside.

  3. 03

Use the free trial as a teaching session

A full session at no cost and with no card details required. Written work gets set and marked inside it, which is the only reliable test of whether the tutor can actually assess this subject. A wrong match at this stage costs nothing to change.

  4. 04

    Bound the purchase

Agree a block with a number of sessions and an end date — an investigation block, an eight-week exam sprint, or a term. Bounded blocks are easier to budget, easier to evaluate, and far easier to stop than an open-ended weekly arrangement.

  5. 05

Check the marked work in week four

Read two marked tasks side by side. If the same errors are being flagged with no movement, change the plan or the tutor rather than the number of hours. Buying more of something that is not working is the commonest way families overspend.

  6. 06

Reprice at the exam term deliberately

Demand for specialists tightens before May. Agreeing the exam-term block in advance holds the rate and the slot, and avoids discovering in March that the only availability left is at an hour your child trains.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Every number on this page has a source

AED figures are other providers' published rates with the month they were read. Regulatory statements are attributed to u.ae, KHDA or MoHRE. No invented satisfaction percentages, no self-awarded ratings, no grade promises, and no IB exam dates restated from secondary sources.

Marking is inside the fee

A session and the marking of the task that follows it are one charge, not two. That is the single biggest hidden variable in this market, and pricing it in makes an IB Gram rate directly comparable to a cheaper rate that excludes it.

Awkward hours cost no more

Online delivery means a six-thirty start before swim training and a nine o'clock session after academy football are priced identically to a mid-afternoon slot. For a student whose week is set by a coach, that is worth more than a discount.

A specialist shortlist instead of a map

SEHS is small-entry. Removing distance from the selection means the constraint becomes availability in Gulf Standard Time rather than driving distance from your community, which in this subject changes who is available at all.

Coverage limits disclosed up front

When no specialist is free at the hour you want, you are told, with an honest estimate and the realistic alternatives at their own rates. No competitor page in this research set publishes a coverage limit; concealing one only delays the problem.

The delivery model stated before payment

One-to-one, live video, Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not run home visits in the UAE and holds no UAE office; home visits exist only in India. If a person in the room is the requirement, the in-home bands above show what that market charges.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

What should I expect to pay per hour for Higher Level SEHS help in Dubai?+

Published Dubai rates read in October 2026 put IB specialist teaching between AED 200 and AED 450 or more per hour online, with in-home visits from AED 180 to AED 500 because travel sits inside the rate. Higher Level work in a small-entry subject sits towards the upper part of either band. A quote well below AED 200 usually means either a generalist or an hourly rate with no marking attached. Those are other providers' figures, not an IB Gram price list; a quote here follows a free trial lesson and depends on level and session length.

Why does SEHS cost more than biology tutoring at the same level?+

Supply. Biology is taught in every school and tutored by a large pool in Dubai, so rates are competitive. SEHS is small-entry and needs a teacher who can handle physiology, enough mechanics for biomechanics calculations, and named psychological models. Few training routes produce that combination, and fewer tutors have taken the course to examination. Scarcity firms the rate in every band. The practical response is to buy online, which widens the pool from whoever drives to your community to whoever is free in Gulf Standard Time, and that usually does more for price than negotiating.

Is a monthly package cheaper than paying by the hour?+

Usually a little, and the published numbers show the shape. Market monthly packages sit around AED 799 for roughly eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits, which works out below the equivalent single-session rates. The catch is commitment: a package is only cheaper if every session gets used, and in a subject where competitions and training camps interrupt constantly, unused sessions are pure loss. Ask what happens to a missed session before buying a package, and whether unused hours roll forward or expire at the end of the month.

Does the price change in the weeks before the May session?+

Specialist availability tightens every spring and rates firm with it, which is a market reality rather than a tactic. The way around it is to agree the exam-term block before the term starts, which holds both the rate and the slot. Leaving it until March in a small-entry subject often means the only availability left is at an hour that clashes with training. For what it is worth, six to eight weeks of marked timed practice can genuinely move a grade, so a late start is still worth making; it is just more expensive and more constrained.

Can we pay for just the scientific investigation rather than a whole term?+

Yes, and for many families it is the best value on the list. An investigation block is four to six sessions, priced per session at the level band, with the total known before the first one. The sessions narrow the research question, test whether the method can produce data that supports any conclusion, teach the statistical handling, and read drafts against the published criteria as questions in the margin. The work stays entirely the student's own. Time it to the school's internal deadlines, which the Diploma coordinator holds and which differ between Dubai schools.

How early in the morning can a session realistically start?+

Early enough to sit before a pool session, which for competitive swimmers in Dubai can mean finishing by six. Because delivery is online and timed to Gulf Standard Time, an early slot costs no more than an afternoon one and no tutor is driving across the city in the dark to reach it. The limit is the student rather than the schedule: a sixty-minute physiology session at five-thirty in the morning is only useful if the student is actually awake. Many families settle on one early slot and one post-training evening slot across the week.

Do cheaper tutors skip marking, and does it matter in a science?+

Below the specialist band, marked written work is frequently not included, and in a group 4 science it matters considerably. The commonest reason a SEHS student underperforms is not missing knowledge but failure to apply physiology to the unfamiliar scenario the question describes, and that failure is invisible in conversation and obvious in a marked script. An hour of explanation with nothing written, set or returned does not diagnose anything. Ask directly whether the session fee covers a task written for your child and the marking of it, because two rates that look alike often are not.

Are small group classes better value for a Diploma science?+

Per hour, yes; per outcome, it depends on what is wrong. A group works for a confident student who needs pace, structure and the discipline of a fixed weekly commitment. It cannot find the four recurring errors in one student's writing, because nobody is marking one student's writing. For SEHS specifically, group teaching also struggles with the quantitative biomechanics, where students diverge sharply depending on whether they also take physics. A bounded one-to-one block often costs less in total than a term of group classes that did not address the actual problem.

Does a tutor's MoHRE permit add anything to the price?+

No, because the permit is free. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's service page lists no fees and a two-working-day completion time. So any rate justified by licensing costs is being justified by a cost that does not exist. What the permit does affect is legitimacy: individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. Ask for confirmation that a tutor holds one, and check mohre.gov.ae for the current requirements rather than any tutoring site.

Is it worth paying a premium rate of AED 650 an hour?+

One Dubai provider publishes that figure for premium named practitioners, and for a narrow purpose it can make sense: a small number of hours on a specific, diagnosed problem close to an exam. As a weekly commitment across two Diploma years it is a very large number, and the published evidence that it outperforms a competent specialist at half the rate does not exist. The more reliable value test is whether marked work improves week to week, which costs nothing to check. Beware of any provider using examiner status to imply access to marking, boundaries or paper content.

What does an in-home tutor in Dubai charge, and what am I paying for?+

Published in-home rates run from AED 180 to AED 500 an hour, against AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified subject tutor online. Bestimate's 2026 table puts in-home at AED 180 to AED 350, with independent home tutors at AED 200 to AED 500. The difference is largely travel: a tutor crossing Dubai in peak traffic recovers that unpaid hour inside the rate, which is reasonable rather than sharp practice. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai; that service exists only in India. If physical presence is a requirement, an emirate-based agency is the right provider for it.

How many sessions does a SEHS student usually need before papers?+

Families typically buy eight to ten sessions in the final weeks, run as a marking cycle rather than as revision lectures: the student sits a timed section between sessions, the tutor marks it, and the session addresses the three or four errors the marking exposes. That is enough to fix command-term discipline, scenario application and biomechanics calculation, which is where most of the recoverable marks sit. It is not enough to cover a syllabus from a standing start, and no honest provider will tell you otherwise. Coverage gaps need a term, not a sprint.

Can sessions move to post-Iftar slots during Ramadan without extra charge?+

Yes. Dubai schools run shortened hours through Ramadan, training shifts and late afternoon stops working for many households, so sessions move to post-Iftar evening slots at the same rate. Because lessons are online and timed to Gulf Standard Time, a schedule change is a calendar matter and nobody is driving anywhere at an awkward hour. Families can also drop to a lighter cadence for the month and resume with the same tutor. The expensive option is stopping without a plan, since restarting after a month's silence in DP2 costs more than the sessions saved.

How do I make two SEHS tutoring quotes genuinely comparable?+

Four things, and the same four to each of them: the subject and level written exactly as the school does, the two or three weekly hours that actually work around training, one piece of recent marked work, and the deadline you are working towards. Then ask each provider the same three questions — is marking included, what is the rescheduling window, and what happens if the match is wrong. Quotes become comparable immediately, and the providers who dodge the questions identify themselves. Expect any serious quote to sit inside the published bands on this page.

Get the number, then get the trial

If price is the question holding up a decision, the published bands on this page should let you judge any Dubai quote in about a minute: AED 150 to AED 300 for a qualified tutor online, AED 200 to AED 450 or more for an IB specialist, AED 180 to AED 500 in-home with travel inside the rate. For SEHS, expect the specialist end, because the subject is small-entry. Then ask the three questions that decide the real total — is marking included, what is the rescheduling window, what happens if the match is wrong — and book the free trial lesson. Sessions are one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time, and if no specialist is free at the hour you need, you will be told before any payment.
