Edexcel IGCSE Physics 4PH1 Home Tutor in Dubai

Families searching for an Edexcel IGCSE Physics 4PH1 home tutor in Dubai are usually trying to find out one thing first: the number. This page publishes it, in dirhams, with each band attributed to the provider or rate table that printed it. It then shows what sits inside an in-home hour that does not sit inside an online one, and why the two prices differ. IB Gram teaches 4PH1 one to one over live video and does not arrange home visits anywhere in the UAE.

  • Every dirham figure here carries the provider that published it and the month

IB & IGCSE in Dubai

The number, and what sits inside it

Three of the six highest-ranking tutoring pages for Dubai searches publish no price at all. Two quote in United States dollars, a currency no Dubai family pays a tutor in. One asks the price in its own list of common questions and then declines to answer it. That is the market this page is written against, and the reason it opens with dirhams rather than with reassurance. A parent comparing a physics tutor against the rest of the household budget needs a band, a source and a date.

Here are the bands as published in October 2026. Budget online tutoring, usually delivered by university students, advertises from AED 33 to 65 an hour at the low end and sits broadly in an AED 45 to 150 range. A qualified subject tutor working online runs roughly AED 150 to 300; Unitors publishes International GCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB tuition from AED 200. Subject specialists in IGCSE, IB and A Level are quoted at AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase at about AED 270. In-home one-to-one sits higher at AED 180 to 350 in Bestimate's Dubai rate table, and individual home tutors advertise AED 200 to 500. At the top, a named or examiner-badged tutor is quoted at AED 500 to 650 and above, with BartyED at AED 650.

Those five bands are not five levels of quality. They are five different things being sold. The gap between an online specialist at AED 250 and an in-home specialist at AED 350 is mostly a car and ninety minutes of a tutor's evening. The gap between a university student at AED 50 and a subject specialist at AED 250 is knowledge of a particular specification. For 4PH1 that second gap is the one that matters, because the qualification has two untiered papers, a defined equation recall expectation and no practical examination, and a tutor who has not taught it will spend the first three sessions finding that out.

Monthly figures are easier for a family to plan around than hourly ones. Providers in this market advertise around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions, and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Bestimate's estimates for one weekly hour over a month run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist support in an examination year. Two subjects in a Year 11 household therefore sits in a very different place in the budget from one, and that is the arithmetic most families do too late.

IB Gram does not publish a price list on this page, and the reason is not coyness. A quote depends on how many weeks of work the marked script actually implies, and that is visible in a free thirty-minute trial and not before it. No card details are taken for the trial. What this page can honestly do is tell you what everyone else charges, what the in-home premium pays for, and what questions make a quote comparable. Lessons are delivered one to one over live video; IB Gram does not send a tutor to a Dubai address, because home visits are a service offered only in India.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

A 4PH1 budget looks different depending on which route the entry sits in. A two-year school course, a November resit and a private-candidate entry carry different hour counts and different fixed costs, and families are rarely told which one they are in until the entry statement arrives.

SCHOOLAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Two-year 4PH1 course through a Dubai school

The standard route. The school holds the Pearson centre registration, makes the entry, submits forecast grades and receives the results. Tutoring here is a top-up rather than a replacement, which usually means one hour a week across two years or a heavier block in the term before the series. The cost question is how many of those weeks are genuinely needed, and a marked script answers it better than a sales conversation.

Dubai schools differ on when 4PH1 teaching starts. Some begin in Year 9 and run three years, which spreads the tutoring need thinly; others compress the specification into two years, which concentrates it. Ask the head of science which model applies, because a three-year course makes a single weekly hour in Year 9 far cheaper than the same work bought under pressure in February of Year 11.

RESITAges 16+ · after a summer result

November series retake

Pearson International GCSE runs in November as well as May and June, so a disappointing summer physics grade does not cost a full year. A retake block is short, intensive and comparatively easy to cost: six to ten weeks of two sessions a week, aimed squarely at the categories the previous script lost marks on. The hour count is finite, which makes this the most predictable spend of the three routes.

The November 2026 International GCSE timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, which places the preparation window across the first term of the Dubai academic year. Check with the school whether it enters candidates for the November series at all; not every Dubai centre does, and a family may need the private-candidate route instead, which changes the fixed costs.

PRIVATEAny age, outside a school cohort

Private candidate entry

Used by home-educated students, by those whose school does not enter the November series, and by students who have moved mid-course. The entry is made through an approved examination venue rather than through a school, and the venue sets its own administrative charges on top of the Pearson entry fee. Tutoring costs the same per hour, but the fixed costs are visible rather than buried inside school fees.

Ask any Dubai examination venue for its fee schedule in writing before committing, including the per-subject administrative charge and the deadline after which late entry fees apply. These are centre charges rather than Pearson charges, they vary between venues in the same emirate, and they are the part of a private-candidate budget families most often discover late.

POST-16Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

What follows 4PH1, and what it costs to be ready

International A Level Physics and IB Diploma Physics both assume the equation handling and the mathematical fluency that 4PH1 only begins. Families who spend a modest amount in Year 10 on arithmetic habits typically spend less in Year 12, because the alternative is paying specialist post-16 rates to fix a problem that cost less to fix at fifteen. That is the one genuine saving available in this market.

Dubai had 387,441 private-school students across 227 schools in 2024-25, with 37% on a UK curriculum and 7% in the International Baccalaureate, so most 4PH1 students in the emirate face a real choice at sixteen rather than an automatic continuation. Specialist post-16 tutoring is quoted at the top of the bands on this page, which is a reason to treat Year 10 physics as the cheaper intervention.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Few households tutor physics alone. The list below is what a 4PH1 family in Dubai most often adds, and what each addition does to the monthly figure. Use it to work out the total before committing to the first subject rather than after.

Physics 4PH1

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The subject on this page. Two untiered written papers, 180 marks, no coursework. Priced at the subject-specialist band rather than the general-tutor band, because the paper split and the equation recall expectation are specific to this code. Usually one weekly hour, rising to two in the final term.

Mathematics A 4MA1

Foundation and Higher tier

The most common addition, and the one that reduces physics hours rather than adding to them. Maths A is tiered, unlike the sciences, so the tier decision is a real conversation. Students whose physics marks go on rearrangement and standard form are often better served by a maths hour than a second physics hour.

Chemistry 4CH1

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Same two-paper, 180-mark shape as physics, with the mole calculation as the load-bearing skill. Households taking three separate sciences normally stagger the tutoring rather than running all three at once, which keeps the monthly figure flat and spreads the work across the two years.

Biology 4BI1

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The science families most often postpone, because it reads as though it can be revised late. The postponement is what makes it expensive: a late start converts a term of weekly hours into an intensive block at the point in the year when every provider's diary is full and rates are least negotiable.

Science Double Award 4SD0

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The alternative to three separate sciences, worth two International GCSEs. Tutoring is cheaper in total than three single-subject courses but harder to target, because a weak area in one science sits inside a qualification covering all three. Check the entry statement to see which your child actually sits.

English Language A 4EA1

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Priced at the general rather than specialist band in most of this market, and frequently the subject a family drops first when the monthly total gets uncomfortable. Worth keeping if the equivalency count is tight, since five accredited subjects at no less than grade 3 is the threshold that matters.

Arabic as an additional language

Mandatory alongside the licensed curriculum

Required in all Dubai private schools regardless of the international curriculum the school is licensed for. Rarely included in a family's tutoring budget at the planning stage and often the reason the budget is exceeded. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs, so the starting point varies sharply between students in the same year group.

Islamic Education

Mandatory for Muslim students in Dubai

Taught in Standard Arabic for Arab students and in the school's licensed-curriculum language for non-Arabs, under KHDA's mandatory-subject requirements. Schools must ensure teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold the relevant KHDA approval, which is a useful question to ask before paying for outside support in these subjects.

UAE Social Studies and Moral Education

Mandatory in Dubai private schools

Delivered in Arabic for Arab students and in the licensed-curriculum language for others. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, and KHDA advises no mandatory lesson be shorter than 25 minutes. Additional or different content needs prior Ministry of Education permission, which limits what any outside tutor may legitimately use.

International A Level Physics

Years 12 and 13

Where the same family often returns two years later, at the top of the rate bands on this page. Modular, mathematically heavier, and far less scaffolded than 4PH1. Mentioned here because it is the cost argument for fixing arithmetic habits at fifteen rather than at seventeen.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

The three formats below cost different amounts for structural reasons, not because one is better. All are delivered one to one or in a small group over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, with the first thirty minutes free and no card details taken.

One weekly hour, costed across a term

The cheapest honest way to buy physics support, because it spreads the work and catches habit errors early. Twelve weeks at one hour is a predictable line in a monthly budget and compares directly against the AED 600 to 1,200 a month Bestimate estimates for mid-range weekly tutoring.

  • One fixed hour a week, held for the term
  • Predictable monthly figure for budgeting across subjects
  • Habit errors caught in week three rather than in a February mock
  • Easiest format to pause and resume around travel

Short diagnostic block

Four to six sessions aimed at one named problem taken from a marked script, then stopped. Families who want a finite spend rather than an open-ended commitment start here, and a meaningful number stop after it because the named problem has closed and the rest is school work.

  • Finite session count agreed before the first lesson
  • One category of lost marks, not the whole specification
  • Re-test two weeks after the block ends, included
  • No rolling commitment and no notice period to negotiate

Pre-series intensive

Two or three sessions a week in the six to eight weeks before a Pearson series. The most expensive format per month and often the best value per mark, because the priority order comes from a marked mock and the cheapest topics get repaired first. Also the hardest format to book late, since diaries fill.

  • Six to eight weeks, two or three sessions a week
  • Priority set by marks available per hour of work
  • Timed sections every week under real paper conditions
  • Book before the autumn half-term for a November series

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai

01

What the Dubai market charges for 4PH1 support, by provider model

The table below compares models rather than brands, because a brand comparison would be an argument and a model comparison is a fact. Each rate is quoted as the provider published it in October 2026, with the provider named. No row describes IB Gram's price, because IB Gram quotes after a free consultation rather than from a list, and a page that invented a figure for itself to look competitive against the others would be doing precisely what this market already does too much of.

Read the table by column rather than by row. The rate column is the one families look at; the two that actually explain the rate are travel and specification knowledge. An in-home specialist and an online specialist may have identical qualifications, and the difference between their quotes is almost entirely the ninety minutes of evening the visiting tutor spends in a car. A budget online tutor and a specialist online tutor have no travel difference at all, and the entire gap is what they know about the examination.

The last column is the one worth arguing about with any provider. Replacement policy sounds like small print until the match is wrong in week three, at which point it decides whether a family loses a term being polite or changes tutor in a week. Ask it explicitly, in writing, before the first paid session, and ask what happens to the diagnosis when the tutor changes. A provider that restarts from scratch is charging you twice for the same assessment.

The travel arithmetic behind the in-home premium

An in-home hour is not an hour. For a tutor driving from Jumeirah to Dubai Marina at five in the afternoon, it is an hour of teaching inside two hours and a quarter of working time, plus fuel and parking. Price that evening rationally and the in-home rate has to carry the journey, which is exactly what the published bands show: AED 180 to 350 in Bestimate's Dubai table against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified tutor working online, with individual home tutors advertising up to AED 500.

The second effect is less obvious and matters more. Travel does not only raise the rate; it shrinks the pool. A tutor can fit two or three visits into an evening if they are in adjacent communities, and one if they are not. That means the in-home physics tutors genuinely available to a family in Nad Al Sheba at 17:00 on a Tuesday are those who already work nearby, which has nothing to do with whether they have taught 4PH1. Families in the eastern districts feel this least and families in the newer interior communities feel it most.

This is where the honest comparison sits. IB Gram does not arrange home visits in Dubai; lessons run one to one over live video, and the saving is not presented as the main argument. The main argument is that removing the journey removes the constraint on who can teach your child. A Dubai family choosing online is choosing a tutor who knows how Pearson words a plan-an-investigation question, instead of choosing whoever could reach the villa before the student's concentration ran out.

03

Five things that move a 4PH1 quote, and two that should not

  • The marked script, not the phone call, should set the volume of work
  • September rates and February rates differ for the same tutor
  • Session length: 45, 60 and 90 minutes are not proportionally useful
  • Marking time between sessions is either inside the rate or it is not happening
  • A second subject in the same household lowers the effective hourly figure
  • Inspection bands and unevidenced approval badges should move nothing

Quotes for the same subject in the same emirate vary by a factor of ten, and most of the variation is explicable. The starting point is the biggest single driver: a student three grades below target across six topics needs a different volume of work from one losing eleven marks to unit conversion, and an honest provider will price those differently after seeing a script rather than identically after a phone call. The second is timing. Diaries fill before a series, and the same tutor is both more expensive and less available in the eight weeks before papers than in September.

Session length changes the effective rate more than families expect. A ninety-minute session is not half again as useful as a sixty-minute one for a fifteen-year-old, and a forty-five-minute session can be better value than either for arithmetic drilling. Marking between sessions is the fourth driver and the one most often hidden: a tutor who marks a full paper properly spends forty minutes on it, and that time is either in the rate, billed separately, or not happening. Ask which. The fifth is subject count, since a second or third subject in the same household usually attracts a lower effective rate per hour.

Two things should not move the quote. A school's KHDA inspection band says nothing about an individual student's need and should never be used to justify a higher rate for families at a particular school. Nor should any claim of regulatory approval: IB Gram holds no permit, accreditation or endorsement from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Pearson or Cambridge, and neither do the overwhelming majority of providers advertising in this market. A rate premium attached to an unevidenced badge is a premium for nothing.

04

Per hour, per session or per month: how Dubai providers actually price

Comparing two quotes in this market is harder than it should be because they are rarely quoted in the same unit. One provider gives an hourly rate, another a per-session rate for ninety minutes, a third a monthly package of eight sessions, a fourth a term fee. Converting them all to dirhams per taught hour is the only way to see the difference, and doing so sometimes reverses which looks cheaper. A monthly package at AED 799 for eight sessions is about AED 100 a session, which is only comparable if the sessions are an hour and are one to one.

Packages carry a second question: what happens to unused sessions. A family that travels for two weeks in the middle of a monthly package has either lost those sessions, rolled them forward or paid for nothing, and which of the three is a term in the agreement rather than a courtesy. Dubai families travel more than most, across the summer and the winter break, so this clause matters here more than it would elsewhere. Get it in writing before the first payment, along with the cancellation notice period.

The third thing to pin down is what counts as a session. Marking a past paper, writing feedback, a short message answering a question between lessons and a parent call at the end of a block are all real work, and providers treat them differently. The table below converts the common pricing units for a single 4PH1 student so that two quotes can be set side by side. Figures in it are illustrative conversions of the published market bands on this page, not an IB Gram price list.

Physics tuition in the context of a Dubai school bill

A tutoring figure means little in isolation. It means something next to the rest of a Dubai education budget, and 2026-27 is an unusually clear year in which to do that comparison. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private-school fees in the emirate would not increase for 2026-27, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. For the first time in several years, a family's school bill is a fixed quantity while they decide what to add to it.

The supply side is also moving. Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four on a UK curriculum and three offering the International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places; six schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6%. The emirate had 387,441 private-school students across 227 schools in 2024-25, offering 17 curricula, with 37% on a UK curriculum. More places tends to mean more competition for teaching staff, which is one of the quieter pressures on private tutoring rates in any market.

The table below puts a physics tutoring decision alongside the other line items a Year 11 Dubai family is already paying. It is deliberately conservative: it uses the published market bands from this page rather than any figure of ours, and it leaves school fees as a range because they vary by an order of magnitude across the emirate. The point of the comparison is not that tutoring is cheap. It is that one weekly hour and three weekly hours across three subjects are different decisions, and the second one needs planning before September.

What the rate should include, and the extras that appear later

  • Marking of past papers: inside the rate, billed separately, or not happening
  • Written feedback after each session, and whether it is specification-referenced
  • Messages between lessons, and whether there is a limit
  • Rescheduling terms, including the notice period and travel-season flexibility
  • Whether the quoted figure is tax-inclusive and will appear so on the invoice
  • Replacement tutor terms, and whether the diagnosis carries across

The most common unpleasant surprise in this market is not the hourly rate. It is discovering that the rate covers the taught hour and nothing else. Marking a past paper properly takes a tutor something close to forty minutes, and a provider quoting a low rate has either absorbed that time, excluded it, or is not doing it. All three are legitimate business models and only the third is a problem, but a family cannot tell which they have bought unless they ask.

The same applies to written feedback, to answering a question between lessons, to a short progress call with a parent at the end of a block, and to rescheduling. A provider that reschedules without charge once a term and one that charges for any change under forty-eight hours are offering materially different things at the same headline price. Dubai families travel more than most and should weight rescheduling terms accordingly rather than treating them as boilerplate.

On value-added tax, this page says only what it can source. The treatment of tuition fees under UAE tax rules is a question for the Federal Tax Authority and not for a tutoring provider's marketing page, and any provider telling you confidently that tuition is or is not subject to tax should be asked for its source. The question a parent can get a straight answer to is narrower and more useful: is the figure you have been quoted inclusive of any tax, and will the invoice show it.

07

Why the search says home tutor and the invoice says online

Parents type home tutor because that is the shape of the need: a child at home in Dubai, a physics grade going the wrong way, and an assumption that help arrives at the door. The phrase is worth answering rather than deflecting. The in-home market exists, it is well supplied in the eastern districts and thin in the newer interior communities, and it costs what this page says it costs. IB Gram does not operate in it. Lessons are one to one over live video, and home visits are a service offered only in India.

Said plainly rather than defensively, the trade is straightforward. An in-home hour buys presence: a person in the room, a phone that goes away, a parent who can see the lesson happening. Those are real goods, particularly for a younger student or one who will not work without supervision. An online hour buys selection: the tutor is chosen because they know the 4PH1 paper split and the equation recall list, not because they live twenty minutes away. For a specification-specific problem at sixteen, selection usually matters more than presence.

There is a third difference that gets no attention in this market and should. An online session leaves a record. The annotated script, the written feedback referenced to a specification point, and the session recording all remain afterwards, which means a parent who was not in the room can still see what changed. A visiting tutor leaves whatever is in the student's own exercise book. For a family spending AED 800 to 1,800 a month, that difference in accountability is worth something concrete.

Permits, licensing and the questions that make a quote comparable

Before comparing two prices, establish that both tutors may lawfully teach. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is open to registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged 15 to 18. Those tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so disregard any figure quoted to you as fact.

MoHRE's own service listing is Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, with a stated two-working-day completion time, applied for through the ministry's app, website and e-services system. Because the permit is free and quick, a tutor who does not hold one has no cost-based reason not to, which makes it a reasonable thing to ask about before money changes hands. A tuition operation with premises and staff is a different matter again, requiring a KHDA Educational Services Permit, and no provider lacking that permit should present itself as holding any form of KHDA endorsement.

In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules bar private and charter school staff from paid tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct points the same way. The practical reading for a Dubai parent is to be wary of any arrangement offering your child's own class teacher privately. Ask instead for the three things that make quotes comparable: the taught-hour rate, what is included beyond the taught hour, and what happens if the match is wrong.

Where we tutor

Areas we cover across Dubai

Because lessons run over video, geography changes the cost of in-home tutoring but not the cost of ours. The notes below are about what a visiting tutor's travel actually involves in each part of Dubai, which is the single largest component of the in-home premium.

Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Marina

Two access roads and a single trunk route in each direction. A visiting tutor leaving a Jumeirah appointment at 17:00 is budgeting forty minutes of travel to arrive, which is why in-home quotes here sit at the upper end of the published AED 180 to 350 band.

Jumeirah Village Circle and Al Furjan

Dense, fast-growing and poorly served by direct routes from the older communities. Tutors with existing Marina or Barsha clients often decline these slots, so families report either a higher quote or a narrower choice of available physics tutors.

The Springs, The Meadows and Motor City

Interior villa communities where the drive from the coast runs against the evening flow. The journey is manageable; what it does to a tutor's diary is not, since one visit here can displace two in a denser area, and the rate reflects that.

Nad Al Sheba and Meydan

Newer housing with a young Year 10 and Year 11 population and relatively few resident tutors. Families here commonly end up on the online option by default rather than by preference, because the in-home pool is simply thin at the hours they want.

Discovery Gardens and Jebel Ali

At the southern end of most tutors' range. A 16:30 start is rarely realistic for a visiting tutor coming from central Dubai, and the slots that do exist tend to be late. Online removes the constraint entirely rather than pricing it in.

Mirdif, Al Warqa and Al Qusais

The eastern districts where in-home tutoring is most competitively priced, because tutor supply is denser and journeys are shorter. This is the one part of the emirate where the gap between in-home and online rates narrows noticeably.

Dubai Hills Estate and Al Barsha South

Central, well connected and heavily tutored, with many households running two or three subjects at once. The useful cost question here is not the hourly rate but the monthly total across subjects, which is where families most often overcommit.

International City and Dubai Silicon Oasis

Price-sensitive districts where budget online providers advertising from AED 33 to 65 an hour compete hardest. The honest trade is specification knowledge: a university-student tutor at that rate is unlikely to know how Paper 2P differs from Paper 1P.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai

Mid-fee British-curriculum Dubai

Schools where a family's tutoring spend is a meaningful fraction of the school bill rather than a rounding error. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private-school fees in Dubai would not rise for 2026-27, which makes this the first year in a while where a tutoring decision is not competing with a fee increase.

  • GEMS Founders School Al Barsha
  • Sunmarke School
  • Regent International School
  • Arcadia Global School
  • The Westminster School Dubai
  • Dubai Scholars Private School

Higher-fee British-curriculum Dubai

Selective and premium schools where internal assessment loads are heavy and families are more likely to buy specialist support at the top of the published bands. Students we support here often need prioritising between subjects rather than more hours in any one of them.

Newer communities, newer schools

Dubai's 2026-27 intake adds seven private schools, four on a UK curriculum and three offering the International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 places; six opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose 6%. New cohorts arrive from several previous curricula at once, which widens the range of starting points in a single 4PH1 class.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say what you are comparing against

The most useful opening message names the other quotes on the table and their units: an in-home tutor at a per-visit figure, a centre at a term fee, a platform at a monthly package. A specialist can then convert them to dirhams per taught hour and tell you honestly where the comparison actually sits, including where another option is the better buy.

  2. 02

    Send the marked physics script

Volume of work drives price more than anything else, and the only honest way to estimate it is to look at the student's own marked paper. Three photographed pages are enough. Without them, any quote is a guess dressed as a number, which is how families end up buying a term of hours for a problem that needed five sessions.

  3. 03

Free thirty-minute trial, then a written quote

The trial is diagnostic rather than a sample lesson, and no card details are taken. What follows is a quote with the hour count, the session length, what marking is included and the replacement terms, in writing. A verbal rate with unspecified inclusions is not a quote and cannot be compared with anything.

  4. 04

Fix the unit and the period before the first paid hour

Agree whether you are buying hours, sessions, a month or a block, and what happens to unused sessions when the family travels. Dubai households travel across summer and winter breaks more than most, and this single clause accounts for most of the disputes families report with tutoring providers in the emirate.

  5. 05

Review the spend after the first block

At the end of four to six sessions, the named problem has either closed or it has not, and the written feedback should make that visible without interpretation. That is the point to decide whether to continue, stop or change subject. An open-ended monthly arrangement nobody reviews is how a tutoring budget quietly doubles.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Figures with a source and a date, or no figures

Every dirham band on this page names the provider or rate table that published it and the month it was read. Three of the six top-ranking pages in this market publish no price at all and two quote in dollars. Showing the working is cheaper for us than inventing a comparison and is the only version a parent can check.

The in-home premium explained rather than disparaged

In-home tutoring in Dubai is a legitimate service that costs more because it carries a journey. This page says so, prices it from published sources, and does not pretend the difference is quality. IB Gram simply does not sell it, and the comparison table exists so a family can decide rather than be steered.

Priced after a diagnosis, not from a list

A quote follows a free thirty-minute trial in which a specialist reads the marked script and estimates the hours the problem actually needs. Pricing before seeing the work is how a five-session problem becomes a two-term commitment, which is comfortable for the provider and expensive for the family.

Inclusions stated in writing

Marking, written feedback, messages between lessons, rescheduling and replacement terms are all set out before the first paid hour. Two quotes at the same headline rate can differ by several hours of real work a month, and the only way a family sees that is if both providers are asked the same questions.

One specification, not physics in general

Tutors are matched on Pearson Edexcel 4PH1: the two untiered papers, the content examined only in Paper 2P, the equation recall expectation and the absence of a practical examination. Paying a specialist rate for general physics teaching is the most common way money is wasted in this subject.

No badges we do not hold

IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation or licence from KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Pearson or Cambridge, and says so. A rate premium attached to an unevidenced regulatory badge is the most expensive thing a parent can buy in this market, because it costs money and provides nothing.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai: your questions answered

How much does a home tutor for Edexcel IGCSE Physics 4PH1 cost in Dubai?+

In-home one-to-one tutoring in Dubai is published at AED 180 to 350 an hour in Bestimate's 2026 rate table, with individual home tutors advertising AED 200 to 500. Monthly in-home packages of four two-hour visits are advertised at AED 1,599 to 1,799. Those are market figures from October 2026, not ours. Online one-to-one with a qualified subject tutor runs AED 150 to 300, and specialists AED 200 to 450 and above. IB Gram teaches 4PH1 online only and quotes after a free thirty-minute trial, with no card details taken.

Why is in-home physics tutoring in Dubai more expensive than online?+

Mostly because of travel. A tutor driving from Jumeirah to Dubai Marina for a five o'clock lesson spends over two hours of working time for one taught hour, plus fuel and parking, and a rational rate carries that. The published gap between AED 180 to 350 in-home and AED 150 to 300 online is close to what the journey is worth. The second effect is availability rather than price: a journey limits a tutor to two or three visits an evening, so the pool a family can actually book from shrinks to those already working nearby.

Does IB Gram send a physics tutor to a villa or apartment in Dubai?+

No. IB Gram does not arrange home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE; home visits are a service offered only in India. 4PH1 tuition is delivered one to one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. The in-home rates quoted on this page are the market's, included so a family can compare properly rather than be steered. The trade is that a tutor is matched on knowing this specification, including how Paper 2P differs from Paper 1P, rather than on living within driving distance of the community.

What is a realistic monthly budget for one 4PH1 student in Dubai?+

Bestimate's 2026 estimates for a single weekly hour are AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and above for specialist support in an examination year. Advertised monthly online packages of eight sessions sit around AED 799. Three sciences at one mid-range hour each therefore implies AED 1,800 to 3,600 a month, which is the arithmetic most families do after committing to the first subject rather than before. Plan the total in September.

Is a ninety-minute session better value than two shorter ones?+

Not usually, for a fifteen-year-old. A ninety-minute physics session at AED 400 converts to about AED 267 a taught hour, which looks efficient until you account for concentration: the last twenty minutes of a long session frequently produce no usable work. Two shorter sessions in a week also give a gap for independent practice, which is where the learning consolidates. Forty-five minutes can be the best value of all for arithmetic drilling. Convert every quote to dirhams per taught hour first, then decide what length suits the student.

Does the hourly rate normally include marking a past paper?+

Ask, because it varies and it is the largest hidden variable in this market. Marking a full physics paper properly takes a tutor close to forty minutes. A provider quoting a low rate has absorbed that time, excluded it, or is not doing it, and all three exist. Two quotes at the same headline figure can differ by several hours of real work a month. The same question applies to written feedback after each session, to messages between lessons, and to a progress call with a parent at the end of a block.

What happens to a monthly package if we travel for two weeks?+

That depends entirely on the agreement, so get it in writing before the first payment. Unused sessions are variously forfeited, rolled forward or credited, and Dubai families travel across summer and winter breaks more than most, which makes the clause worth more here than elsewhere. Ask about the rescheduling notice period in the same conversation: a provider that allows a free change once a term and one that charges for any change inside forty-eight hours are offering different things at the same advertised rate.

Are budget online tutors at AED 50 an hour worth considering for 4PH1?+

For some purposes, yes. Providers advertise from AED 33 to 65 an hour, usually with university-student tutors, and for supervised practice or arithmetic drilling that can be perfectly sensible. What you are unlikely to get at that rate is specification knowledge: how Pearson words a plan-an-investigation question, which content is examined only in Paper 2P, and what the mark scheme awards for an explain question. If the marked script shows lost marks on question technique rather than on content, the cheaper option will not address it.

Does a 4PH1 quote get worse in the eight weeks before a Pearson series?+

Availability tightens, which has the same effect on a family as a rise. In the six to eight weeks before a Pearson series, specialist diaries fill, the convenient slots go first, and there is little room to negotiate on either rate or timing. Booking a pre-series intensive before the autumn half-term for a November series, or before the winter break for the summer, is the practical response. The same hours bought in September cost the same per hour and are far easier to schedule around a Dubai school week.

Does the quoted price for tutoring in Dubai include tax?+

Ask the provider directly and expect the answer on the invoice. The treatment of tuition fees under UAE tax rules is a question for the Federal Tax Authority rather than for a tutoring company's marketing page, and any provider stating it confidently should be asked for its source. What a parent can reasonably settle is narrower: whether the figure quoted is inclusive, whether an invoice will be issued, and whether any tax registration number appears on it. Vague answers to those three questions are themselves informative.

Is it cheaper to tutor three sciences together or one at a time?+

Staggering is usually cheaper in practice, even though the per-hour rate is the same. Running physics, chemistry and biology simultaneously at one mid-range hour each implies AED 1,800 to 3,600 a month on the published bands, which most families cannot sustain for two years. Taking one subject for a term, closing the named problem, then moving to the next keeps the monthly figure flat and spreads the work across Years 10 and 11. The exception is the final term before a series, when staggering no longer leaves enough time.

Are Dubai school fees going up in 2026-27, and does that change the tutoring decision?+

KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private-school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under the emirate's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within an AED 2.5 billion total. For a family budgeting a tutoring commitment, that makes the school bill a fixed quantity for once. The supply side is still moving: seven new private schools join the 2026-27 intake, four UK curriculum and three IB, adding 16,846 places.

Does a tutor in Dubai need a licence, and does that affect what they charge?+

A permit is required and it is free, so it should not affect the rate at all. The MoHRE private tuition work permit came in under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's service page lists a two-working-day completion time. Tutoring without it attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no fine schedule is published. Any premium charged for holding a free document is a premium for nothing.

How many 4PH1 sessions should we buy to start with?+

Four to six, aimed at one named problem taken from the marked script, with a re-test a fortnight after the block ends. That is enough to see whether the diagnosis was right and whether the student works with that tutor, and it is a finite spend rather than an open commitment. A meaningful number of families stop there, because the named problem has closed and the rest is school work. Buying a term before anyone has looked at a marked paper is how a five-session problem becomes a two-term invoice.

What should a written quote for physics tutoring actually contain?+

Six things: the rate expressed per taught hour, the session length, the number of sessions and over what period, what marking and written feedback are included, the rescheduling and cancellation notice, and the replacement terms if the match is wrong. Ask also whether the diagnosis carries across to a replacement tutor, because a provider that restarts the assessment is charging twice for the same work. A verbal rate with unspecified inclusions is not a quote and cannot be compared against anything.

Can we pay for a short block before a November resit rather than a full term?+

Yes, and for a retake it is usually the right structure. Pearson runs International GCSE in November as well as May and June, and the November 2026 timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, so the preparation window sits in the first term of the Dubai year. A retake block is finite and easy to cost: six to ten weeks of two sessions a week, aimed only at the categories the previous script lost marks on. Confirm first that your child's school enters the November series, since not every Dubai centre does.

Get the quotes into the same unit

If you are weighing an in-home physics tutor in Dubai against an online one, the useful step is not another phone call. Put every quote into dirhams per taught hour, write down what each one includes beyond the taught hour, and ask all of them what happens if the match is wrong. Then send us a photograph of your child's marked 4PH1 paper. A specialist will read it in a free thirty-minute trial, estimate honestly how many hours the problem needs, and tell you where another option would serve you better. No card details are taken. Lessons run one to one over live video on Gulf Standard Time.
