IB and IGCSE tutors for Dubai South families

IB and IGCSE tutors in Dubai South work for families in one of the youngest school catchments in the emirate. Expo City, the Residential District, the Golf District and the aviation and logistics zones have grown faster than the schools around them, so most children here travel to Jebel Ali, Dubai Investments Park, Al Furjan or The Sustainable City. That changes two things: subject availability, and when an evening can start. Lessons are one-to-one over live video.

  • Plans built backwards from the board's own published session dates
  • Cambridge zone timetables and entry deadlines explained, with the source named
  • No IB exam dates published here, because none could be verified from the IB itself
  • Late evening slots, because nobody is driving to the lesson

IB & IGCSE in Dubai South

A young community, a thin school map, and a calendar nobody counts backwards

Dubai South is a district built around an airport and an Expo site, and its residential population has arrived faster than its schools. The Residential District, the Golf District, MAG 5 Boulevard, The Pulse and Expo City now house a substantial number of families, and the nearest established school provision sits outside the district, in Dubai Investments Park, Jebel Ali, Al Furjan, The Sustainable City and on the Remraam edge. Dubai's private sector is expanding to meet exactly this kind of demand, with the 2026-27 intake adding seven new private schools and 16,846 places, but the arithmetic has not caught up yet.

That has two practical consequences, and neither is about traffic. The first is subject availability. Where a nearby school runs a small Diploma cohort, Higher Level choice narrows, and a student who wants Higher Level Physics and Higher Level Economics in the same timetable may not be able to have both. The second is the shift pattern. The free zone, the logistics district and the airport run around the clock, and family evenings here start later and less predictably than the Dubai average.

Those two constraints are why this page is organised around the exam calendar rather than around the neighbourhood. If a family may change school, change emirate or sit a subject as a private candidate, the governing facts are entry deadlines and session windows, not geography. A UAE candidate sits Cambridge papers in June or in November, and Pearson Edexcel papers in May and June or in November. Final entries for any of those close months before the first paper, in the preceding spring or summer depending on the series. Forecast grades fall weeks before the papers. Pearson publishes provisional timetables that can be revised. A plan built forwards from today misses all of that; a plan built backwards from the published dates does not.

One thing this page deliberately does not contain is an IB exam date. The IB's own site returns an error to automated checking, so no IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself. Secondary sources converge on a window, and we are not publishing it, because a date on a page like this one becomes something families plan around. Confirm every IB date with your school's Diploma coordinator or with the IB directly. We will write about the May session as the one UAE schools sit, and leave the dates to the source that owns them.

What follows is the calendar counted backwards, the two examination boards' published session structures side by side, what private candidate entry actually involves, the school map around Dubai South with its curriculum and regulator for each, how a two-year Diploma gets planned from a community with one nearby IB school, and the limits on what we can honestly offer. Lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Dubai or anywhere else in the UAE.

The four routes below are read here through the calendar: what each one locks in, and when. That is the information a family in a fast-changing catchment needs most, because it tells you when a decision stops being reversible.

Cambridge International IGCSE

Cambridge runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. Subjects are tiered Core or Extended in many cases, and the tier is fixed at entry. Final entries fall months before the papers, which is the single most under-appreciated fact in the whole process.

Every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, and the board states it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong one. For a family that has just moved into Dubai South from another country, that is the detail most likely to go wrong.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Pearson International GCSE examinations are available in May and June and in November each year. The structure of papers, the formula provision and the assessment of practical skills differ from Cambridge, and a student sitting both boards across their subject set needs two distinct sets of exam habits rather than one.

The November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson also publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, which can be revised, so always work from the live official document.

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, with Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internal Assessment deadlines are set internally by each school, not by the IB, which is why two students in neighbouring communities can be working to deadlines weeks apart. The May session is the one UAE schools sit, with a November session also available.

No IB session or results date appears on this page. The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so nothing could be verified at source, and publishing an unconfirmed date on a page families plan around would be irresponsible. Ask your school's Diploma coordinator for the current dates and treat their answer as authoritative over anything on the open web.

PRIVATEAny age, outside a school's own entry

Private candidate entry

A route for a student whose school does not offer a subject, who is repeating a paper, or who is between schools. Entry is made through an approved examination centre rather than through a tutor, fees are set by the board and the centre, and the student is responsible for meeting the entry deadline and sitting the correct zone timetable.

This matters more in Dubai South than in older districts, because thin local provision means more students want a subject their school cannot timetable. A tutor can teach the syllabus; a tutor cannot enter a candidate, and any provider implying otherwise has misunderstood the process. Find the centre first, confirm the deadline, then build the teaching plan.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The subjects below are the ones most often requested by families in this catchment, and the notes concentrate on how each behaves against a session deadline, since that is the organising question on this page.

Mathematics (IGCSE)

Core and Extended, 0580 and 4MA1

The tier decision is fixed at entry, which makes it a calendar decision as much as an academic one. Extended-tier fluency is built over months rather than weeks, so a student aiming to move tier needs the diagnostic done well before the entry deadline, not after mocks.

Physics

IB HL and SL, IGCSE 0625 and 4PH1

Practical-skills assessment differs between boards, and a student changing school mid-course can find the format changed under them. The topics where marks go missing, electricity above all, are narrow enough to target inside a six-week block before a session.

Chemistry

IB HL and SL, IGCSE 0620 and 4CH1

Multi-step calculation discipline is the highest-return work close to a session, because method marks are available and routinely unclaimed. Diploma students working to an internal Internal Assessment deadline need that date before anything else is planned.

Biology

IB HL and SL, IGCSE 0610 and 4BI1

The volume of content makes it a poor subject to leave late, and a good one for a long run of short weekly sessions. Six-mark explain answers built to the mark scheme shape are the technique that matters in the final term.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

IB HL and SL

Higher Level Paper 3 is an unstructured investigative paper, and the skill it tests, sustaining written reasoning, needs months rather than a revision block. Students in small Diploma cohorts often have fewer classmates to compare working with, which is where one-to-one helps.

Economics

IB HL and SL

Three commentaries make up the Internal Assessment and need real published articles, so the planning deadline is set by the school and not by the student. Diagram accuracy and evaluation are the marks; description is where students spend their time.

English as a Second Language and English First Language

IGCSE 0510 and 0500

Worth starting earliest of any subject, because every other paper is marked through written English and the gains take longest to accumulate. Also the subject where a student arriving mid-course from another system gains most quickly.

Business Management

IB HL and SL

The pre-released case material rewards structured work months ahead of the papers, which makes it unusually calendar-sensitive. Students who start the case late write knowledgeable answers with no evaluation in them.

Computer Science

IB HL and SL, IGCSE 0478

The Diploma solution-development project has an internal school deadline and carries documentation marks that students treat as paperwork. Pseudocode and trace-table discipline at IGCSE is quick to teach and quick to lose.

Arabic and Islamic Education

KHDA mandatory stream

Required in all Dubai private schools whatever the licensed curriculum, with separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs. Support follows the school's own scheme, because the Ministry prohibits different or additional content without prior permission.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Each of the three arrangements below is defined by a date rather than by a weekly habit, which suits a catchment where school change and private candidate entry are both more common than average.

Session block counted backwards

A block planned from the published exam window and entry deadline rather than from today. The first session establishes what is already locked, what is still reversible and how many weeks remain, and the block closes on a date fixed at the start. This is the default for any student within six months of a series.

  • Built from the board's own published dates for the student's series
  • Entry and forecast-grade deadlines marked before any teaching is planned
  • Paper-by-paper technique rather than a second pass through content
  • A defined end date, so the commitment is finite

Long-run weekly for a subject the school cannot timetable

Where a nearby school's cohort is too small to offer a subject at the level a student wants, the syllabus has to be taught alongside school rather than inside it. That is a long arrangement, usually a year or more, and it depends on an examination centre being identified first.

  • Centre and entry route confirmed before teaching begins
  • Syllabus mapped across the available months, not compressed
  • Progress checked against past papers at fixed intervals
  • Clear statement that the tutor teaches and the centre enters

Late-slot weekly for shift households

An ordinary weekly arrangement placed after seven or half past eight in the evening, which a travelling tutor could not sustain and live video makes unremarkable. Used by a large share of families in the aviation and logistics districts, where the parent who supervises homework may not be home before eight.

  • Slots available late into the evening and at weekends
  • Written summary after each session, so a parent on shift can read it later
  • Easy to move within the week when a rota changes
  • Two children can take consecutive slots without a second journey

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Dubai South

01

The exam calendar counted backwards, using the boards' own published dates

Almost every family plans forwards. They look at today, estimate how many weeks remain, and distribute revision across them. Examination boards work in the opposite direction, and their deadlines sit much earlier than parents expect. A candidate here sits Cambridge IGCSE, O Level or International A Level papers in the June series or the November series, and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE papers in May and June or in November. Take the Pearson November 2026 series as the worked example, because its dates are published: the final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, and results reach students in January, the way the November 2025 results landed with students on 22 January 2026. Entries for that series close in the summer before it, months ahead of the first paper, and the exact deadline sits with your centre's exams officer rather than on a page like this one.

Read that sequence and a plan writes itself. The subject and tier decisions are effectively locked at the final entry deadline, and for a November series that falls in the summer, before the school has run a single autumn mock. A student hoping to move from Core to Extended tier therefore needs the diagnostic conversation in the spring term or over the holidays, not in October. The forecast-grade deadline then lands weeks before the papers, which makes the term's marked work matter for something beyond practice. For a Cambridge June candidate the same shape applies on a different footing: entries close in the spring, roughly four months before the papers, with the November series sitting behind June as the resit route, which is what makes a disappointing summer recoverable inside the same calendar year rather than the next one.

The table sets the sequence out with the owner of each date named, because that is the part families get wrong. Some of these dates belong to the board and cannot move. Others belong to the school and vary between schools in the same emirate. Mock windows, coursework deadlines and internal submission dates are school decisions, which is why the first useful document in any plan is the receiving school's own internal assessment calendar rather than anything published by a board.

Cambridge and Pearson sessions side by side, and the IB dates we will not publish

A student in this catchment may sit papers with both boards in the same year, and the two behave differently. Cambridge runs a June series and a November series for IGCSE, O Level and International A Level, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. Those Checkpoint tests are not an IGCSE sitting, and the extra window Cambridge runs in the first quarter of the year is offered to candidates in India only, not here, so a UAE family has exactly two series to plan around. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations are available in May and June and in November each year. The structures are similar enough to blur and different enough to matter.

Two published details are worth memorising. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong one. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, including the November International GCSE series in whichever year you are planning for, and those drafts can be revised at any point, which is why any date on a page like this one should be treated as a worked example rather than as the live document.

For the International Baccalaureate this page publishes no date at all. The IB's own site returns an error to automated checking, so nothing could be confirmed at source. Secondary sources agree on a window and we are not repeating it, because a date published here becomes a date a family plans around. The May session is the one UAE schools sit, a November session also exists, and your school's Diploma coordinator holds the current dates. That is a less satisfying answer than a table of dates and it is the only honest one available.

Private candidate entry, and what it means when the school cannot offer a subject

  • Find the approved examination centre before planning any teaching
  • Entry deadlines are the candidate's responsibility, not the tutor's
  • Fees are set by the board and the centre; no tutor sets or collects them
  • Check the centre's administrative zone and use that zone's timetable version
  • Expect a year or more of teaching, running alongside a full school timetable

In an older district this section would be a footnote. In Dubai South it is not, because thin local provision means a meaningful number of students want a subject their nearest school cannot timetable. A small Diploma cohort cannot run eight Higher Level options, and a British school with one set per subject cannot always build a timetable that allows a particular pair. The student's choices are then to drop the subject, change school, or sit it outside the school's own entry.

The third route works and it has rules. Entry is made through an approved examination centre, not through a tutor and not through a platform. Fees are set by the board and the centre. The candidate is responsible for meeting the entry deadline and for sitting the paper on the correct zone timetable, which is exactly the point at which Cambridge's own warning about zone versions becomes relevant. The order of operations matters: find the centre and confirm the deadline first, then build the teaching plan backwards from the session.

What a tutor does in this arrangement is teach the syllabus across the available months, alongside the student's school timetable rather than instead of it. That is a long commitment, usually a year or more, and it needs an honest conversation at the start about workload, because a student adding a subject to a full timetable is adding real hours. What a tutor cannot do is enter the candidate, obtain their results, or influence a centre's decisions. Any provider suggesting otherwise has misdescribed a process it does not control.

04

The school map around Dubai South, with curriculum and regulator

Dubai South's own school provision is young, so the practical map is the ring of schools around it. The table below lists the ones that come up most often in enquiries from this catchment, with the area, the curriculum and board, the programmes offered and the regulator. There is deliberately no inspection-rating column. Ratings should only be published where they have been read on the regulator's own site, and none were read for this page; a competitor's school table ships that column empty on every row, which is worse than omitting it.

Read the programmes column carefully if you have a Diploma student. Two of the nearest schools run an IB continuum, which means a child can move from the Primary Years Programme through the Middle Years Programme to the Diploma without changing systems. The rest run British routes to IGCSE and then A Level, which is a different two-year decision at sixteen. Choosing between those two paths is a bigger decision than choosing between two schools on the same path, and it is worth making before Year 9 rather than during Year 11.

The regulator column is uniform here because every school listed sits in Dubai and is therefore regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. That changes the moment a family moves emirate. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are governed by the Department of Education and Knowledge, Sharjah by its own Private Education Authority, Ras Al Khaimah by its Department of Knowledge, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah by the federal Ministry of Education.

05

Who lives here, and when the evening actually starts

  • Shift households need late slots and written summaries, not parental attendance
  • Expo City and Golf District arrivals need the school's internal calendar first
  • The Residential District to Jebel Ali run is the longest in the corridor
  • Shorter, more frequent sessions beat one long hour for a child with a long commute
  • Thursday is usually the worst evening in this catchment, not the best

The Aviation and Logistics Districts and the free zone operate around the clock, and a significant share of households in the Residential District, The Pulse and MAG 5 Boulevard are built around a rota rather than around a nine-to-five. That changes the tutoring question in a way that no amount of pedagogy addresses. An arrangement requiring a lesson at five in the afternoon, with a parent present, does not survive a rota change. An arrangement at half past eight, with a written summary a parent reads at eleven, does.

The Expo City and Golf District populations are different again: more international postings, shorter tenancies, more mid-course arrivals. For them the organising fact is the receiving school's internal assessment calendar, because a child who arrives in January is landing inside somebody else's timetable of mock windows and coursework deadlines. Asking for that document in the first week saves a term of guessing, and schools generally supply it when asked directly by a subject teacher rather than through the office.

The third pattern is the long school run. From the Residential District to the Jebel Ali cluster is the longest regular journey in this corridor, and a child who leaves before seven in the morning and gets back after four thirty has already had a longer day than a child in central Dubai. That is an argument for shorter, more frequent sessions rather than one long weekly hour, and for not scheduling anything demanding on a Thursday.

06

Planning a two-year Diploma when the nearest cohort is small

  • Small cohorts mean narrow Higher Level choice and one teacher per subject
  • Decide the combination against named university requirements, not general reputation
  • Check the Analysis and Approaches versus Applications and Interpretation preference per university
  • Make the decision in Year 11, with option blocks and requirements side by side
  • Private candidate entry is a real fallback, with a real workload cost

A small Diploma cohort is not a weak one. What it is, reliably, is narrow. A school with twenty Diploma students cannot run every Higher Level option, cannot always build a timetable that allows a particular pair of Higher Levels, and will have one teacher per subject rather than three. That last point is the one families underestimate: in a large cohort a student who does not get on with one teaching style has alternatives, and in a small one they do not.

The planning response is to decide the subject combination against the university destination before the school's option blocks are published, rather than after. If a medicine application is likely, Higher Level Chemistry is usually required and Higher Level Biology often expected, and those two have to be available together. If an engineering route is likely, the Mathematics choice between Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation matters more than most students realise, because a number of universities state a preference. Check the specific universities rather than the general reputation of each course.

Where the timetable genuinely cannot deliver the combination, the options are to change school, to accept a substitution, or to sit a subject outside the school's entry as a private candidate. All three are real and all three have costs. What makes the decision tractable is doing it in Year 11, with the option blocks and the university requirements side by side, rather than in the second term of the first Diploma year when a change means repeating work. A tutor can help teach a subject the school cannot offer; nobody can retrospectively widen an option block.

07

Honest limits: coverage, permits and assessed work

  • Coverage gaps disclosed rather than filled with a quiet near-match
  • MoHRE private tuition work permit: free, two years, two working days to issue
  • No fine figures published here, because none has been published officially
  • A tutor teaching from outside the UAE is not covered by that permit; ask what they have taught
  • No supplied text for assessed work, on any component, at any price

Three disclosures belong on a page like this one. The first is coverage. There are slots and subject combinations for which no suitable specialist is free, most often narrow Higher Level pairings in the weeks before the May session, and the mandatory Arabic and Islamic Education streams, where schools follow a prescribed scheme and must ensure their own teachers of those subjects hold the appropriate KHDA approval. When that happens we say so and offer an alternative with its limits stated, rather than quietly supplying a near match.

The second is the permit position. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated: the MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is applied for through the Ministry's app, website and e-services system with a two-working-day completion time. Individuals tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule has been published, so this page quotes no figure. Where a tutor teaches from outside the UAE over live video, that permit does not apply to them, and the right question becomes what they have taught and at what level.

The third is assessed work. A tutor may teach research skills, read assessment criteria aloud, challenge a research question, question a draft and show that a conclusion is not supported by the evidence. A tutor may not supply text for an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay or Personal Project. The candidate carries the consequence of malpractice, which can reach the loss of the subject or the whole Diploma, and the school is obliged to report it. At least one page competing for these searches sells completed assessed work, and the fee is the only thing that provider has at risk.

08

Starting from Dubai South

  • Send the school and year, the board and codes, and the internal assessment calendar
  • A marked mock script outranks all of the above if you have one
  • The plan is counted backwards from the board's published session dates
  • Trial lesson and consultation first, with terms in writing before any block
  • Late and back-to-back slots, with a written summary a parent can read later

Send three things and the first conversation is immediately useful: the school with the year group, the board and syllabus code for each subject in question, and the school's internal assessment calendar. If your child has already sat a mock, a marked script is worth more than all three, because it shows whether marks are going on content, on command terms, on timing or on working a marker cannot follow.

We then establish the session your child is entered for and count backwards from the published dates. That single step changes most plans, because it usually reveals that the subject and tier decisions are closer to being locked than the family assumed, and that the autumn's marked work matters for the forecast grade rather than only for practice. Teaching is planned inside whatever weeks remain, with a trial lesson and a consultation first and the terms written down before any block starts.

If the arrangement needs to sit late in the evening, it can. Because lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video, a slot at half past eight is as available as one at half past four, consecutive slots can cover two children or two subjects in one evening, and a written summary after each session means a parent on shift can read what happened without having been in the room. In this district that flexibility is usually the deciding factor, and it is the reason we do not run an in-home service anywhere in the UAE.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Dubai South

Dubai South is a set of districts rather than a neighbourhood, and the differences between them are about working patterns and distance to the nearest school rather than about housing style.

Residential District

The largest concentration of families, with most children travelling to Jebel Ali, Dubai Investments Park or Al Furjan. An IGCSE tutor in Dubai South usually starts here at six in the evening or later, after the longest school runs in the corridor.

Expo City

A newer population with a high share of international postings and short tenancies. Enquiries here are often about moving mid-course, and the first question is always the receiving school's internal assessment calendar rather than the subject.

The Pulse and MAG 5 Boulevard

Apartment living with tight budgets and long commutes. This is where the one-hour-a-week decision is made most often, and where an evening slot after seven is routine rather than exceptional.

Golf District and Emaar South

Townhouse and villa stock, still filling. An IB tutor in Emaar South is frequently working with a student in a small Diploma cohort where the school could not timetable a preferred Higher Level combination.

Aviation and Logistics Districts

Shift work around the clock, which is the single biggest scheduling constraint in this catchment. Because lessons are over live video, a slot at half past eight in the evening costs nothing extra and is often the only one that works.

Jebel Ali and Dubai Investments Park

Where most Dubai South secondary students actually sit. An IB DP tutor in Jebel Ali often picks up subjects a nearby school could not offer, taught alongside the student's school timetable rather than instead of it.

The Sustainable City and Remraam edge

The nearest IB continuum provision and the nearest British secondary school respectively. IGCSE tuition in Remraam tends to be booked around the Cambridge entry deadline, once the tier decision becomes real.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Dubai South

Dubai Investments Park, Green Community and The Sustainable City

The nearest established provision to Dubai South and the location of the two closest IB continuum schools. Diploma cohorts here are smaller than in central Dubai, which shows up as narrower Higher Level subject choice rather than as weaker teaching, and it is the single most common reason a Dubai South family asks for a subject tutor.

  • Nibras International School

Jebel Ali, Al Furjan and the Remraam edge

Where most of the district's British-curriculum students travel. These are larger cohorts with broader IGCSE offers, and the requests that come from them are more often about a specific weak topic than about availability. The school run from the Residential District to this cluster is the longest in the corridor.

Schools are named only as local context for families choosing a tutor, with no inspection ratings reproduced because none were read from the regulator's own site for this page. IB Gram is an independent tutor-matching platform with no affiliation to, endorsement from or contract with any school, group or regulator named here.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Identify the series, not just the year

Which board, which session, and whether the entry has already been made. The answer determines what is still reversible. A tier decision after a final entry deadline is not a decision, and knowing that early changes the plan completely.

  2. 02

    Get the school's internal calendar

Mock windows, coursework deadlines and internal submission dates are set by the school, not the board, and they differ between schools in the same emirate. That document governs what is achievable this term more than any published exam date.

  3. 03

    Count the weeks backwards

From the published exam window to the forecast-grade deadline to the entry deadline to today. The number of usable weeks is almost always smaller than a family expects, and seeing it written down ends most arguments about intensity.

  4. 04

Confirm the centre if it is a private entry

Where a subject sits outside the school's own entry, the examination centre and its deadline come first and the teaching plan second. We teach the syllabus; the centre enters the candidate and sets the fee.

  5. 05

Place the slot where the rota allows

Late evening, weekend morning, or consecutive slots in a single evening. Because nobody is travelling, the slot can follow the household rather than the other way round, and it can move when a rota changes.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Planned from published dates

Cambridge's two UAE series and Pearson's published November 2026 dates are on this page with their sources named, and the extra first-quarter window Cambridge offers in India is not quoted here as though it were a date a family in Dubai South could sit. Of the pages competing for these searches, none names a session, an entry deadline or a results date at all.

No unverified IB dates

The IB's own site blocks automated checking, so nothing could be confirmed at source and nothing is published here. A date on a page families plan around has to be verified, and saying so is more useful than a confident guess.

Built for a thin school map

Where a nearby cohort is small, the problem is narrow Higher Level choice rather than weak teaching. We can teach a subject a school cannot timetable, alongside the school timetable, with the examination centre identified first.

Slots that survive a rota

Lessons are one-to-one over live video, so a half past eight start is ordinary, consecutive slots cover two children in one evening, and a written summary lets a parent on shift read what happened afterwards.

No invented inspection ratings

The school table on this page carries curriculum, programmes and regulator, and no rating column, because none was read from the regulator's own site. A competitor's version ships that column empty on every row.

Limits stated before you book

No home visits in the UAE, no UAE premises, no regulator or board accreditation, no supplied text for assessed work, and a plain statement when no specialist is free in the slot you need.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Dubai South: your questions answered

When are IGCSE exams actually held, and when do entries close?+

Cambridge runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series, and those are the two a candidate here sits. The Checkpoint tests in March, May and October are Primary and Lower Secondary tests rather than an IGCSE sitting, and the extra first-quarter window in the Cambridge calendar is offered in India only. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations run in May and June and in November; the November 2026 final timetable runs from late October to 19 November 2026, and results reach students in January, as the November 2025 results did on 22 January 2026. Entries close months before the first paper, and your exams officer holds the deadline for your series. Always work from the live official timetable, since provisional versions can be revised.

Why might my child's exam timetable differ from a cousin's in another country?+

Because Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, and each zone has its own version of the timetable. The board states that it is essential to use the correct version for your zone and that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong one. For a family that has recently moved into Dubai South from elsewhere, this is the single most likely administrative error, because the natural instinct is to use the timetable a relative or a previous school sent. Ask your centre which zone it is in and work only from that document.

Can my child sit an IGCSE subject their school near Dubai South does not offer?+

Yes, as a private candidate through an approved examination centre. That is more common in this catchment than in older districts, because smaller nearby cohorts cannot timetable every option. The order of operations matters: identify the centre and confirm its entry deadline and administrative zone first, then build the teaching plan backwards from the session. A tutor can teach the syllabus alongside the school timetable, usually across a year or more. A tutor cannot enter a candidate, obtain results or influence a centre, and fees are set by the board and the centre rather than by anyone teaching.

Which schools are nearest to Dubai South for an IB Diploma student?+

Greenfield International School in Dubai Investments Park and Fairgreen International School in The Sustainable City are the two nearest IB continuum routes, both regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority. Sunmarke School in Al Furjan offers a British route with post-sixteen Diploma provision. The practical consideration is cohort size rather than quality: a smaller Diploma group means narrower Higher Level choice and one teacher per subject rather than several. Check the published option blocks against the universities your child is likely to apply to before Year 11 ends. IB Gram has no affiliation with any school named here.

How early does a November examination series really need work to start?+

Earlier than feels necessary, because the decisions close before the papers. Entries for a Pearson November series close in the summer that precedes it, which means the subject and tier choices are effectively locked months before the first paper in late October. A student hoping to move from Core to Extended tier needs that diagnostic in the spring term, not after the autumn mocks. Once entries are in, the useful work is timed papers marked against the official wording rather than another pass through content. For a Cambridge June candidate the same logic shifts: entries close in the spring, roughly four months ahead, and November then exists as the resit route if June does not go the way the forecast suggested.

Why will you not tell me the IB exam dates for next May?+

Because we could not verify them from the IB. The IB's own site returns an error to automated checking, so no session or results date in this project was confirmed at source. Secondary sources converge on a window, and repeating it here would turn an unverified figure into something families plan around, which is exactly how wrong dates spread. What we can say is that the May session is the one UAE schools sit and that a November session also exists. Your school's Diploma coordinator holds the current dates and should be treated as authoritative over anything on the open web.

What does a forecast grade deadline mean for us?+

It means the school has to submit a predicted outcome to the board by a fixed date, and that date falls weeks before the papers rather than after them. The board sets it for each series and your exams officer holds the exact day. The school can only forecast from evidence it holds, which is marked classwork, coursework and mock papers. The practical consequence is that the term's marked work is not just practice; it is the evidence base for a figure that goes to the board and, in many cases, informs university conversations. A student who improves after the deadline has improved for the examination, which is what matters most, but the forecast will not reflect it.

How late can a tutoring session start for a family working airport shifts?+

Later than most people assume. Because lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video, a slot at half past eight in the evening is as available as one at half past four, and it can move within the week when a rota changes. A written summary goes to the parent after each session, so somebody on shift can read what happened at eleven at night rather than needing to be in the room at six. For the Aviation and Logistics Districts this is usually the deciding factor, and it is one of the reasons IB Gram does not run an in-home service anywhere in the UAE.

Does Dubai South have enough school places for a community growing this fast?+

The supply is increasing but the nearest established provision still sits outside the district, in Dubai Investments Park, Jebel Ali, Al Furjan, The Sustainable City and on the Remraam edge. Dubai's private sector is expanding: the 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places, after six schools opened during 2025-26 and enrolment rose six per cent. For a family here the practical effect today is a long school run and narrower Higher Level choice, both of which are planning constraints rather than quality judgements.

Is a November resit series worth taking?+

Often yes, and the decision should be made with the published dates in front of you. Both Cambridge and Pearson run a November series, and Pearson's November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026, which gives a sense of the turnaround. The arguments for are a fresh grade on the certificate and a short, focused preparation window. The arguments against are the overlap with the next year's coursework and the risk of splitting attention. Decide on the basis of whether the marked script from the first attempt shows a recoverable, specific loss rather than a general shortfall.

What happens to our plan if we move emirate midway through Year 11?+

Two things change. The regulator changes: Dubai is governed by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain by the Department of Education and Knowledge, Sharjah by its Private Education Authority, Ras Al Khaimah by its Department of Knowledge, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah by the federal Ministry of Education. The examination position may also change, because entries are made by the centre and the new school may use a different board or a different administrative zone. Ask the receiving school immediately whether your child's entries transfer or need remaking, and check the deadline.

How do we plan a Diploma when the nearest school has a small cohort?+

Decide the subject combination against named university requirements before the option blocks are published, not after. A small cohort usually cannot run every Higher Level option or allow every pairing, and it will have one teacher per subject rather than several. If a medicine route is likely, check that Higher Level Chemistry and Biology are available together. If engineering is likely, check each target university's stated preference between Mathematics Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation. Where the timetable cannot deliver, the realistic options are changing school, accepting a substitution, or private candidate entry alongside school.

When do Pearson Edexcel results reach students?+

On the board's published examples, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, including each International GCSE November series as it approaches, and those drafts can be revised, so the live official document is the one to work from rather than any date restated on a third-party page. If results matter for a university deadline, check the published release date against that deadline early, because a gap of a single week can decide an application.

Are there entry fees we should budget for as a private candidate?+

Yes, and they are set by the examination board and the centre rather than by any tutor. Budget them separately from tuition and confirm them with the centre in writing before committing to the route, along with the entry deadline and the centre's administrative zone. The common error is to budget the teaching and discover the entry cost late, which turns a planned decision into a rushed one. No tutoring provider should be collecting entry fees on a centre's behalf, and if one offers to, that is a reason to ask more questions rather than fewer.

How far ahead should we book a specialist before the May session?+

Earlier than price alone suggests, because the constraint close to a session is availability rather than cost. The specialists who teach narrow Higher Level combinations fill first, and no budget creates a slot that does not exist. For a May session, a conversation in the autumn is comfortable, in January workable, and in March limited to whoever happens to be free. If you are reading this inside six weeks of the papers, the useful plan is a short block of timed-paper technique on two named topics rather than a search for the ideal specialist.

Count the weeks backwards before you book anything

The most useful thing a family in this catchment can do is write down four dates: the entry deadline, the school's mock window, the forecast-grade deadline and the examination window itself. Three of those belong to the board and one belongs to your school, and for the Pearson November 2026 series the published end of the window is 19 November 2026, with results in January. Once they are on paper, how much tutoring is worth buying and what it should be spent on become straightforward questions rather than anxious ones. Send us the school, the board and the codes, and the school's internal calendar, and we will count the weeks with you. Lessons are one-to-one over live video, at a time your rota allows.
