IB and IGCSE tutors for DAMAC Hills families

Searching for IB and IGCSE tutors in DAMAC Hills quickly turns into a geography problem. The community sits far enough down Umm Suqeim Road that the tutors willing to drive out are a small subset of the tutors who exist, and the hour you pay for includes the journey. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video, which replaces that radius with a choice made on who teaches the paper your child sits.

IB & IGCSE in DAMAC Hills

Distance quietly chooses the tutor before you do

A DAMAC Hills parent looking for a tutor is making a choice they are probably not aware of making. The practical set of tutors available to a household this far down Umm Suqeim Road is not the set of good tutors in Dubai; it is the much smaller set who are willing to drive out here, at the hour your child is free, for a single lesson. Everything else about the decision - subject knowledge, board, level, experience with the specific paper - gets applied to whatever is left after that filter.

The filter is tighter than it feels. A tutor who lives in Barsha or Jumeirah and charges by the hour has to spend forty minutes or more each way to reach a DAMAC Hills address at five o'clock. That journey is unpaid time unless it is priced into the rate, which it is, and it also limits them to one or at most two households in an evening. Rational tutors respond by declining the trip, charging a premium for it, or stacking families in the same community into consecutive slots that may not suit either.

So the figures parents compare are not comparing the same thing. A quoted in-home rate contains tutor time plus journey time plus the opportunity cost of the lesson they could not take. That is why market in-home rates in Dubai run roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online - figures read from provider listings and a published Dubai rate survey in October 2026, not an IB Gram price list. The gap is mostly geography.

Removing the journey does two things, and the second matters more than the first. It takes the travel premium out of the price. More importantly, it replaces a selection filter based on driving distance with one based on who actually teaches your child's specification. For a core subject at IGCSE that may not change much. For Higher Level Physics, Pearson Further Pure Mathematics or a smaller Diploma option, it is the difference between a specialist and whoever was available.

On delivery, plainly: lessons run one-to-one over live video with screen sharing. IB Gram does not run home visits in Dubai; in-home tutoring is a service offered only in India. If a family's judgement is that a particular child needs an adult physically in the room, an in-home tutor is the right answer for that child and this page sets out what that choice costs so the decision can be made with the numbers visible.

Nothing here promises a grade. The rest of this page covers what the radius actually costs, when a session can start from each route out of the community, which subjects are genuinely unavailable locally, and the boundary a tutor has to keep on assessed work.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

All four programmes appear in this community, with the school inside DAMAC Hills and others reached along Umm Suqeim and Al Qudra Roads. Each note below includes the part of the programme where a specialist match matters most, because that is where distance costs the most.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel IGCSE

Two years of specification-led courses examined at the end of Year 11, with the syllabus code deciding the papers, the tiering and the formula sheet. Cambridge runs Core and Extended routes on several subjects with different grade ceilings; Pearson generally runs a single tier. Eight or nine subjects compete for the same evenings.

For the core IGCSE subjects a local tutor is usually findable, so distance costs money rather than quality. Where it starts costing quality is the less common entries - Further Pure Mathematics, Additional Mathematics, a second language - which a tutor willing to drive to DAMAC Hills may well not teach at all.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects with three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internally assessed work in each subject is marked by the teacher and moderated by the IB. The specialist requirement is sharper here: Higher Level teaching is paper-specific, and a general subject tutor at that level is doing something different from what the student needs.

This is where the radius bites hardest. The number of Higher Level Physics or Chemistry specialists who will drive to DAMAC Hills on a weekday evening is small, and in the February to May window it is smaller still. Online delivery is not a convenience here; it is what makes the match possible at all.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Four criteria per subject group, each marked out of eight and converted to a 1-7 grade, with no external papers until optional eAssessment at the end of Year 11. Marks come from interim tasks, so a weak criterion can sit inside a respectable grade for a long time without anybody naming it.

MYP work is usually best bought as a short block aimed at one criterion rather than as a standing slot. That shape is awkward for an in-home arrangement, because a tutor who has committed to a weekly drive wants a weekly booking, and online delivery makes a six-week block with an endpoint straightforward.

PYPAges 3-11 · FS1-Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Transdisciplinary units with reporting against outcomes rather than marks. Reading fluency, number-fact recall and written stamina decide how Year 7 goes, and a prose report can hide all three. Short frequent sessions beat long infrequent ones at this age.

Primary is the one stage where a parent might reasonably prefer someone in the room, and it is also the stage where a thirty-minute session makes most sense. Paying an in-home travel premium for half an hour of teaching is the worst value in this market, which is worth knowing before arranging it.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The subjects below are the ones DAMAC Hills families request most, with a note on how hard each is to find locally. The pattern is consistent: core subjects are findable nearby, and everything else is not.

IGCSE Mathematics

Core and Extended

Findable locally and the subject that responds best to a weekly hour, because the failures are visible in the script. Extended candidates lose marks on multi-step problems mixing two topics with no signposted method. Check the tier before booking: a Core entry caps the grade.

IGCSE Physics

Cambridge and Pearson specifications

Generally findable, though board-specific experience is not. The written practical paper tests reading an unfamiliar method and finding its weakness, and a tutor who only knows the other board's paper structure will teach the content well and the paper badly.

IGCSE Chemistry

Cambridge and Pearson specifications

Moles calculations and organic chemistry decide the grade and both reward drill. Available locally, but the pool narrows sharply if you also want someone who knows the specific practical paper your child sits.

IGCSE Biology

Cambridge and Pearson specifications

Widely available. Marks turn on terminology precision and answering the command term used rather than on content volume, which also makes this a subject a disciplined student can lift substantially alone with past papers.

IGCSE Further Pure Mathematics

Pearson 4PM1

A separate qualification from International GCSE Mathematics, taken alongside it at some schools. Almost never covered by a tutor whose selling point is proximity, because the cohort is small and the content is distinct. This is a clear case for a wider pool.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Proof and calculus are the Higher Level pressure points, and the exploration moves whole grades because it is marked against five lettered criteria. Higher Level specialists who will drive this far on a weekday are a short list, and shorter from February.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics, modelling and heavy graphical-calculator work. Calculator technique is genuinely teachable and routinely neglected; interpretation carries marks students expect for the calculation alone.

Physics

HL and SL

The scarcest of the Higher Level sciences in this market. Marks are lost in algebra rather than physics, and the data-analysis component is barely practised. For a DAMAC Hills household this is the subject where a driving radius and a good match are least compatible.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms carry the Higher Level papers. The internally assessed investigation loses marks on uncertainty handling and on conclusions that outrun the data, both of which need someone who has marked the component.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams carry the marks and unlabelled diagrams lose them. The internally assessed commentaries are built on published articles, so article choice sets the ceiling before any analysis is written. Moderately available, and better online than locally.

Psychology and the smaller Diploma options

HL and SL

Psychology, Global Politics, Computer Science and similar options draw on a much shorter list than the headline subject grids suggest. Within a thirty-minute radius of DAMAC Hills the realistic answer is often nobody, which is the whole argument for removing the radius.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements fit a household this far out, and the choice between them is largely about what the journey would have cost. The one that is hardest to justify from DAMAC Hills is the one most families try first.

Weekly one-to-one, specialist chosen by paper

A fixed weekly hour with a tutor selected because they teach your child's specification, not because they can reach the community. For a Higher Level subject or a less common entry this is the only arrangement that produces a genuine match, and the slot can start shortly after your child is home rather than after a journey.

  • Match made on syllabus code and level, with no travel filter applied
  • Slot timed from your child's actual arrival home
  • Written summary each week naming the next target
  • Reviewed against marked work every six to eight weeks

A short block on one diagnosed failure

Eight to ten sessions on the single subject where the marked work shows a specific, repeatable failure, with a stated target and a review at the end. Blocks of this shape are awkward to arrange with a tutor who has committed to a weekly drive, and straightforward when nothing has to travel.

  • Subject chosen from the script, not the lowest report grade
  • Fixed session count agreed before the first lesson
  • Other subjects run on self-marked past-paper practice
  • Ends at the review unless the evidence says otherwise

A weekend block for the student who gets home latest

Ninety minutes at the weekend for a child travelling from the Ranches, Dubai Hills or Motor City schools, where a weekday session lands too late to be useful. Coursework checkpoints, whole timed papers and anything needing sustained attention belong here rather than at the end of a long evening.

  • Long enough for a full paper and its marking
  • Coursework checkpoints aligned to the school's draft dates
  • Absorbs a missed weekday session without adding a commitment
  • Keeps weekday evenings free for school homework

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in DAMAC Hills

01

What a driving radius does to the choice of tutor

Start with the direct answer: for a household in DAMAC Hills, insisting on a tutor who comes to the house reduces the available pool by a large and unmeasured proportion, and the reduction is not random. It removes specialists first. A tutor whose subject is in demand across the whole city has no reason to spend ninety minutes in a car for one lesson, so the people who accept the journey are disproportionately those with spare capacity.

That is not an argument that local tutors are weak. Plenty are excellent, and for a core IGCSE subject the pool within a reasonable radius is deep enough that a good match exists. The argument is narrower and more specific: the scarcer the requirement, the more the radius costs. Higher Level Physics, Pearson Further Pure Mathematics, Psychology, a second language, or a specific practical paper on a specific board - for each of those, the number of people inside a thirty-minute drive who genuinely teach it may be zero.

Families rarely see this happening because the filter is applied before they get a shortlist. An agency with a travel radius presents the tutors who will travel; the ones who will not never appear. The parent then chooses the best of what is shown and reasonably concludes they chose well. The counterfactual - the Higher Level specialist twenty-five kilometres away who would have taken the lesson online - is invisible.

The table makes the trade explicit by radius. The point of the last column is that each ring costs something specific rather than something vague. Deciding to pay that cost is entirely legitimate; for a nine-year-old who needs an adult in the room it may be the right call. Paying it unknowingly for a Diploma Higher Level subject is the version worth avoiding.

02

The travel premium, decomposed

An in-home hour is not an hour. It is the taught hour plus the journey each way plus the lesson the tutor could not take instead, and all three are inside the number you are quoted. Nobody itemises this, which is why a parent comparing AED 250 for an in-home lesson with AED 220 online concludes the difference is small. For a household this far from where most tutors live, the difference is most of the gap.

Market rates make the shape visible. In-home one-to-one in Dubai runs roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour including travel, according to a published Dubai rate survey giving 180 to 350 and independent home tutors advertising 200 to 500. A qualified subject tutor online is AED 150 to 300, and an IB or IGCSE specialist AED 200 to 450 or more. Monthly packages in this market are advertised at around AED 799 online for eight sessions against AED 1,599 to 1,799 in-home for four two-hour sessions. Those figures were read in October 2026 and are market rates, not ours.

Compare the monthly packages carefully, because they are the clearest illustration. Eight online sessions against four in-home sessions of twice the length is the same nominal teaching time for roughly double the money, and the in-home version concentrates it into half as many contacts. For most subjects, eight shorter contacts produce more than four long ones, because spacing beats duration for retention. So the premium buys fewer, longer sessions as well as costing more.

The table below separates what the money is actually for. The last column is specific to this community: from a DAMAC Hills address, the journey component is at the upper end of what it would be anywhere in Dubai. If physical presence is what a family wants, that is a reasonable thing to buy - but it should be bought knowingly, with the arithmetic above visible rather than folded into a single hourly figure.

The Umm Suqeim and Al Qudra routes, and when a session can start

The second thing distance does is set the earliest useful session time, and it does so differently for each child in a household. A child at the school inside DAMAC Hills can be home by about half past three. A sibling bussed from the Arabian Ranches cluster or Dubai Hills is typically back between half past four and half past five. A student travelling from Dubai Investments Park or further west can be later still.

This matters because the useful hour is the one before fatigue, not the one after dinner. A session at eight in the evening with a student who left the house at six thirty in the morning is an hour of attendance. The same hour at half past four, for a child who arrived home at four, does several times the work. Where an earlier slot exists for a particular child, it is worth rearranging the rest of the household to protect it.

The table maps the main routes against a realistic arrival window and the earliest start we would recommend. These are operational figures from scheduling families in the southern communities rather than published survey data, and yours will differ by fifteen minutes in one direction or the other. Tell us the school and the route and the slot is set from that rather than from an average.

One more consequence of the geography is worth naming. Because the roads out of this community feed into a small number of junctions, a delay affects every child in the household at once rather than one of them. That is the practical case for agreeing a single named fallback slot for the whole house instead of per-child rearrangements, and for putting the latest-arriving child's work into a weekend block where the road has no vote.

What a wider pool actually buys, subject by subject

It is easy to make the online argument abstractly and harder to make it concretely, so here it is concretely. For some subjects a wider pool buys very little, because the local supply is adequate and a competent tutor is a competent tutor. For others it buys the difference between a specialist and a substitute. Knowing which category your request falls into is the whole decision.

Core IGCSE subjects sit in the first category. Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and English are taught by enough people in Dubai that a household in the southern communities can find a good local match, and the main cost of insisting on a visit is money rather than quality. Even there, one caveat applies: board-specific experience is scarcer than subject experience, and a tutor who knows the other board's practical paper will teach content well and the paper badly.

The second category is where the radius genuinely hurts. Higher Level Physics is the clearest case - it is the scarcest of the Diploma sciences in this market and it tightens from February. Pearson Further Pure Mathematics, Cambridge Additional Mathematics, Psychology, Global Politics, Computer Science and the less common languages all draw on short lists city-wide, and within half an hour of DAMAC Hills the honest count is often zero.

The table sets this out request by request. Where a UAE-based specialist is not free, the fallback is a specialist based outside the UAE, most often in India, teaching the same specification online, with the base and the time difference stated before anything is confirmed. That is disclosed in advance rather than discovered later, which is a different thing from routing a Dubai parent to a foreign number and letting them assume local delivery.

05

The school inside the community and the schools outside it

DAMAC Hills has a school inside it, which changes household logistics more than fees do. A child attending it is home by mid-afternoon, with the best study window of the day still ahead of them. A sibling at a school in the Ranches or Dubai Hills is home an hour or more later with that window largely gone. In a household with both, those two children should not be treated as having the same evening.

The board question still applies. Schools around the southern communities choose examination boards subject by subject, so a student can sit Cambridge in the sciences and Pearson in Mathematics, and two siblings at different schools can be on different boards in the same subject. The subject name on both reports looks identical; the paper structure, tiering and formula sheet are not. Ask each school's examinations officer for the board, the syllabus code and the tier, in writing.

A note on inspection ratings, since families in a newer community often ask. KHDA licenses and inspects Dubai private schools and publishes inspection outcomes on a six-band scale from Outstanding to Very Weak. Those bands describe the school, and they are published on the regulator's own site, which is the only place to read them. They say nothing about whether your particular child is on top of the independent half of their course, which is the thing tutoring addresses.

For market context: KHDA counted 227 private schools and 387,441 pupils in Dubai in 2024-25 across seventeen curricula, and confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year under an economic incentives package. Dubai is adding seven new private schools for 2026-27, four British and three IB, creating 16,846 places - and new capacity in the southern communities is part of why the school list here keeps changing.

06

Group classes and tuition centres: the second commute

  • A centre class from here is two journeys at the worst hours plus the fee
  • Group pace suits whole-topic revision, not an individual diagnosed failure
  • A ninety-minute class becomes a three-hour commitment with travel
  • A shared sibling session gives the saving without the journey, where stages match

The alternative to bringing a tutor out is taking the student in, and from DAMAC Hills that means a drive to a licensed centre in Barsha, Jumeirah or one of the newer commercial clusters. On paper the class rate looks attractive. Counted properly, it rarely is, because the cost includes two journeys at the worst hours of the day and a parent's evening alongside the fee.

There is also a question about what a class delivers. Group teaching covers content at a pace set by the group, which suits a student who needs the whole topic again. It does not suit a student whose losses are specific and individual, because the tutor cannot stop and watch one student attempt thirty unprompted questions while the rest wait. Most students who have reached the point of paying for help are in the second category rather than the first.

Where a class genuinely works is revision of a shared syllabus close to an examination, for a student who is broadly on track and needs structure and company. In that narrow case the pace problem matters less and the social effect helps. Even then, the two journeys have to be counted, and from this community they are substantial enough to turn a ninety-minute class into a three-hour commitment.

The sibling-shared session is the version of this idea that does work here. Two children at genuinely the same point in the same subject on the same specification take one hour together, online, at roughly half the one-to-one rate each. It halves the cost per child and halves the number of slots an evening has to hold, without adding a journey. It fails when children two years apart are put together to save money, because the tutor ends up teaching one and occupying the other.

07

Coursework support and the line a tutor cannot cross

There are providers ranking for these searches that sell finished internal assessments at a fixed price. The arithmetic is worth stating plainly: a student who submits purchased work faces their school's academic honesty process and, under IB rules, a malpractice finding that can cost the entire diploma. The provider keeps the fee. The exposure is entirely the student's, and it follows them.

Legitimate support is narrower and genuinely more useful. A tutor teaches the criteria by letter and the marks attached to each. A tutor interrogates a research question until it is answerable inside the word limit. A tutor questions the method, the sample, the data and the reasoning. A tutor reads a draft and replies with questions - why this comparison, what does this graph show that the table does not, which limitation would an examiner notice first. The student then decides, in their own words.

What a tutor must not do is supply text, restructure an argument on the student's behalf, or hand back a rewritten version to be retyped. The test is whether the student can defend every decision in the work under questioning, without notes, because every decision was theirs. That standard is what protects them, and it does not relax because a deadline is close or because a family is paying a premium rate.

The same boundary covers the Extended Essay, the Theory of Knowledge essay, the MYP Personal Project and IGCSE coursework. One practical point for this community in particular: a tutor working online leaves a written trail of feedback, which is easier to show a school than a verbal conversation in a living room if a question about authorship ever arises. That is a small advantage of the format and worth knowing about.

08

The permit, the regulator, and what IB Gram does not claim

  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and granted for two years
  • Ask an individual tutor whether they hold it; the application takes two working days
  • No fine amounts are published, so none are quoted on this page
  • IB Gram runs no UAE centre and claims no regulator or board approval

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit, and this is a reasonable thing for a parent to ask about before letting anyone teach their child. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen.

MoHRE's own service page lists the permit as Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, with no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so no amount appears here; a figure circulating online could not be verified against any official source.

Two conditions matter for anyone considering a visiting tutor. The permit carries a code of conduct that bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school, and Abu Dhabi's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school. So engaging your child's own teacher privately is not the convenient shortcut it appears to be, regardless of who offers it.

Separately, a tutoring business with premises and staff in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, which is a specific authorisation with an initial approval stage and annual renewal. IB Gram holds no such permit, operates no office, centre or branch in the UAE, and delivers lessons online. Nothing on this site claims approval, accreditation or licensing by KHDA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, because none is held.

09

Judging whether the arrangement is working

A household that has solved the geography problem still has to answer the ordinary one, which is whether the tutoring is doing anything. This is unusually easy to lose track of, because a session that happens reliably and pleasantly feels like progress, and in a community where arranging anything is effortful, reliability can be mistaken for effectiveness.

The evidence that counts is narrow. Marks on your child's own returned work. Scores on whole timed papers marked against the published scheme. And whether the specific failure named in the diagnostic has stopped appearing - if the finding was that the student cannot begin an unprompted question, the test is whether they now begin unprompted questions. School report grades move too slowly and confidence is not evidence at all.

Set the review point before the first session rather than when doubt arrives. Six to eight weeks suits a weekly slot: long enough for a habit to change, short enough that a wrong match is not carried through a term. Three outcomes are legitimate at that point - continue, change tutor, or stop - and stopping should be a normal result. Tutoring that has done its job should end rather than become a standing arrangement.

Ask for the written record too. Each session should produce a short note naming what was worked on and the next target, and four consecutive notes on the same topic mean something is not landing. A provider who cannot produce that is asking you to take a term's benefit on trust in a market where an hour costs AED 150 to 450, and for a household that has already paid a premium in logistics, that is the wrong thing to be asked.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around DAMAC Hills

DAMAC Hills sits off Umm Suqeim Road at the Al Qudra end, with a school inside the community and the rest of the Dubailand belt around it. The notes below describe the communities that share its roads and its school lists.

DAMAC Hills

Villas and townhouses around the golf course with the Golf Promenade apartments and a school inside the community. Children at that school are home early; everyone else is on a route that joins Umm Suqeim Road at the busiest time of day.

DAMAC Hills 2

Considerably further out along the Al Qudra corridor, with longer bus runs again. Families there face the same radius problem as DAMAC Hills with roughly fifteen more minutes added to every journey.

Arabian Ranches 2 and 3

North along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road with established schools. Many DAMAC Hills children travel there, which makes the Ranches arrival time the one that usually sets the household timetable.

Dubai Hills Estate

North-east across Al Khail Road, newer and with a growing set of schools. The Al Khail crossing in the late afternoon is the main variable in a DAMAC Hills arrival time for that route.

Mudon and Remraam

Immediately east in the Dubailand belt, sharing roads and some school routes. These communities face the same tutor-radius problem and the same answer to it.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

North-west, with a self-contained school cluster that draws a number of DAMAC Hills families. The journey is manageable in the morning and slower in the afternoon.

Dubai Investments Park

West towards Jebel Ali, with several schools serving the southern communities. Buses from there arrive late enough that a weekday session is often not worth scheduling.

The Sustainable City

South-west along Al Qudra Road with its own international school. Families comparing it with DAMAC Hills schools are mostly comparing commutes rather than curricula.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in DAMAC Hills

DAMAC Hills and the southern Dubailand belt

The schools reachable from DAMAC Hills without a long motorway run, including the one inside the community. They sit on different boards, so a tutor match starts from the entry code rather than the school. Students we support attend schools across this cluster.

  • Jebel Ali School
  • Fairgreen International School
  • South View School
  • Greenfield International School
  • Durham School Dubai
  • The Aquila School

The Ranches, Motor City and Dubai Hills schools

Where older students from DAMAC Hills most often travel. These are the longer routes that push a secondary session past five and make a weekend block the better arrangement for the oldest child in a household.

  • Jumeirah English Speaking School Arabian Ranches
  • Ranches Primary School
  • GEMS Metropole School Motor City
  • GEMS Metropole Al Waha
  • Victory Heights Primary School
  • Dubai Heights Academy

Schools are named as local context for DAMAC Hills families only; IB Gram claims no affiliation with, endorsement by or partnership with any school listed.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the school, the route and the arrival time

For each child: school, route and roughly when they walk through the door. From DAMAC Hills that varies by more than an hour between a child at the local school and one bussed from the Ranches, and the slot is set from the real figure rather than an average.

  2. 02

Send the syllabus code, level and tier

Ask the examinations officer in writing for the board, the code and, on Cambridge subjects, the tier. That is what determines the match, and it matters more here than elsewhere because the scarce requests are exactly the ones a local tutor is least likely to cover.

  3. 03

One diagnostic hour on marked work

The first session works on returned scripts and a short set of unprompted questions rather than teaching, and you get the finding in writing. It also establishes whether the request is a core subject where local supply would have been fine or a scarce one where it would not.

  4. 04

See the match before you commit

You are told who the tutor is, which specification they teach, where they are based and what time zone they are in before anything is booked. If no UAE-based specialist is free for a scarce subject, that is said at this stage rather than after the first invoice.

  5. 05

Fix the slot and one household fallback

A protected weekly time per child, timed from their arrival, with a single named fallback slot for the whole house. Because the roads out of this community feed a few junctions, a delay affects every child at once, and one agreed catch-up time is easier to hold than several.

  6. 06

Review on marks at six to eight weeks

We compare the plan against marked work and decide to continue, change tutor or stop. Stopping is a normal outcome. Reliability is not the same as effectiveness, and in a community where arranging anything takes effort the two are especially easy to confuse.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

No travel filter applied before you see a match

The tutor is chosen because they teach your child's specification, not because they will drive to Al Qudra Road at five o'clock. For a Higher Level subject or a less common entry that filter is the difference between a specialist and whoever had capacity.

The travel premium is shown, not absorbed

Market in-home rates of AED 180-500 against AED 150-300 online are mostly geography, and the monthly packages make it starker: eight online sessions at around AED 799 against four in-home at AED 1,599-1,799. Those figures are published by others and dated to October 2026.

Start times mapped per route, per child

A child at the school inside the community and a sibling bussed from the Ranches do not have the same evening. Both slots are set from their own arrival time, which is only possible when nothing has to travel between them.

Scarce subjects named honestly

Higher Level Physics, Pearson Further Pure Mathematics, Psychology and the smaller options have short lists city-wide and often none within half an hour of here. Where no UAE-based specialist is free you are told, with the fallback tutor's base and time zone stated.

Spacing over duration

Eight shorter contacts beat four long ones for retention in most subjects, which is the second thing an in-home package costs besides money. The session length is set by what the subject needs rather than by what justifies a journey.

A coursework line that does not move

Criteria taught by letter, method and reasoning questioned, drafts answered with questions. No text supplied and no section rewritten. The test is whether your child can defend every choice unaided, and online work leaves a written feedback trail if authorship is ever queried.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in DAMAC Hills: your questions answered

How far will a tutor actually travel to DAMAC Hills?+

Further than you would expect for a weekly booking at a good rate, and not as far as you need for a scarce subject. A tutor living in Barsha or Jumeirah faces forty minutes or more each way to reach an address here at five o'clock, which is unpaid time unless it is priced into the rate, and it limits them to one or two households in an evening. The people who accept that journey are disproportionately those with spare capacity, which means the radius filters out specialists first rather than at random.

Does IB Gram send tutors to DAMAC Hills villas?+

No. IB Gram does not provide in-home tutoring anywhere in the UAE; in-home visits are a service offered only in India. Lessons run one-to-one over live video with screen sharing, which is how a tutor and a student work through a marked script together. For a household this far down Umm Suqeim Road the practical gain is twofold: no travel premium inside the rate, and a tutor chosen because they teach your child's specification rather than because they are willing to make the drive.

What does the travel premium actually add to an hour?+

Most of the gap between the two rates. Market in-home one-to-one in Dubai runs roughly AED 180-500 an hour including travel, with a published Dubai rate survey giving 180-350 and independent home tutors advertising 200-500, against AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor online and AED 200-450 or more for a specialist. The monthly packages make it clearer still: around AED 799 for eight online sessions against AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Those figures were read in October 2026 and are market rates, not ours.

What time can a session start for a DAMAC Hills family?+

It depends on the child rather than the community. A child at the school inside DAMAC Hills is often home by about half past three, so a four o'clock start is realistic and worth protecting. A sibling bussed from the Arabian Ranches cluster or Dubai Hills is typically back between half past four and half past five, which puts the floor at about half past five. A student travelling from the western schools may be later still, and for them a weekend block is usually better value than a late weekday hour.

Which schools do DAMAC Hills children attend?+

There is a school inside the community, which a good number of local children attend, and beyond that families travel north to the Arabian Ranches and Dubai Hills schools, north-west to the Motor City and Sports City cluster, or west towards Dubai Investments Park. Those schools choose examination boards subject by subject, so one student can sit Cambridge in the sciences and Pearson in Mathematics, and two siblings at different schools can be on different boards in the same subject. Ask each examinations officer for the board, code and tier in writing.

Is it worth driving to a tuition centre in Barsha from here?+

Rarely, once the journey is counted on both sides. From DAMAC Hills a ninety-minute class becomes a three-hour commitment at the worst hours of the day, plus a parent's evening, on top of the fee. The deeper problem is pace: group teaching covers content at the group's speed, which suits a student who needs a whole topic again but not one whose losses are specific and individual - and most families who have reached the point of paying for help are in the second category.

We want someone physically in the room. Is online a compromise?+

For some children, yes, and it is worth saying so rather than arguing. A young primary child who needs an adult present to stay on task is better served by someone in the room, and if that is your judgement an in-home tutor is the right choice. What this page asks is that the choice is made with the numbers visible: from DAMAC Hills it costs a substantial travel premium and it narrows the pool, which matters little for Year 4 reading and a great deal for Higher Level Physics.

Which subjects are effectively impossible to find locally?+

Within about thirty minutes of here, the honest list is longer than most families expect: Higher Level Physics, Pearson Further Pure Mathematics, Cambridge Additional Mathematics, Psychology, Global Politics, Computer Science and the less common languages. These draw on short lists across the whole city, and inside a driving radius from the southern communities the realistic count is often zero. Higher Level Mathematics is findable with early booking and tightens sharply from February onwards, which is when most families start looking.

Can one tutor cover two children in a DAMAC Hills household?+

Across two slots, yes, and it often works well. In a single shared session, only when the two children are genuinely at the same point in the same subject on the same specification - in which case it costs roughly half the one-to-one rate each and halves the number of slots the evening has to hold. Two children even two years apart cannot share usefully: the tutor teaches one and occupies the other. Review any shared arrangement after four sessions, because a mismatch shows up quickly.

How do we judge whether the arrangement is working?+

On three things, none of which is confidence. Marks on your child's own returned work. Scores on whole timed papers marked against the published scheme. And whether the specific failure named in the diagnostic has stopped appearing. Set the review point before the first session - six to eight weeks suits a weekly slot - with continue, change tutor or stop as the three legitimate outcomes. In a community where arranging anything is effortful, a session that happens reliably is especially easy to mistake for one that is working.

Does a tutor who lives nearby know our school better?+

Sometimes, and it is worth less than it sounds. Local knowledge of a school's culture is pleasant but it is not what moves a grade; knowledge of the specific paper is. What actually matters is the syllabus code, the tier and the component where marks are being lost, and a tutor who has taught that exact specification for years will diagnose faster than one who knows the building. Where local familiarity genuinely helps is with a school's internal coursework deadlines, and those can simply be sent to any tutor.

Will a tutor help my child finish an internal assessment?+

Help them finish it, yes; finish it for them, no. A tutor can teach the criteria by letter and the marks attached to each, identify which criterion is currently scoring nothing, question the method, data and reasoning, and respond to a draft with questions rather than corrections. What a tutor must not do is supply text, restructure the argument or hand back a rewritten version to retype. The test is whether your child can defend every choice unaided, and purchased coursework risks a malpractice finding that can cost the whole diploma.

Do tutors visiting DAMAC Hills need a permit?+

Any individual providing private tutoring in the UAE does. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. MoHRE lists the application with no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Tutoring without one attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published. Since the permit costs nothing, not holding it usually means the rules were never checked.

What happens if a session has to move at short notice?+

It is rescheduled within the same week, which is one of the less obvious advantages of removing the journey. A visiting tutor who has built an evening around one trip to this community cannot usually offer an alternative slot that week, so a cancelled lesson becomes a lost lesson. Agree a single named fallback time for the whole household rather than one per child: the roads out of here feed a small number of junctions, so a delay tends to affect every child at once rather than one of them.

Is a tutor based outside the UAE a downgrade?+

Not for subject teaching, provided the specification matches and the time zone works - and both are stated before you book rather than discovered afterwards. For a scarce request such as Higher Level Physics in February, the realistic comparison is not a UAE specialist against a non-UAE one; it is a non-UAE specialist against nobody, or against a general science tutor teaching above their level. What we will not do is conceal the tutor's base, which two providers in this market effectively do by routing UAE parents to foreign numbers.

Decide what you are buying before you compare rates

From DAMAC Hills the first question is not which tutor but which constraint you want to accept: a driving radius that filters specialists out, or a wider pool with nobody in the room. For core IGCSE subjects either works and the difference is mostly price. For Higher Level sciences and the scarcer entries, the radius is the whole decision. Send the school, the route, the arrival time, and the syllabus code or IB subject and level with the last marked work. You will get a written diagnostic, the named tutor with their specification, base and time zone, the rate in AED, one household fallback slot and a review date. Lessons run online, one-to-one, over live video.
