IB Home Tutor in DAMAC Hills

An IB home tutor in DAMAC Hills has to fit into an afternoon that is already long. Students here travel out of the community to school, arrive home after five, and then meet coursework deadlines that nobody has written on a calendar. This page plans a Diploma term around both. IB Gram matches DAMAC Hills, Mudon and Arabian Ranches 3 students with IB specialists teaching live online in Gulf Standard Time.

  • Sessions placed after the DAMAC Hills school run, from 5.30pm GST
  • Blocks planned backwards from the school's own internal deadlines
  • Live one-to-one online lessons, so no second journey of the day
  • Written review at four sessions against a stated target

IB & IGCSE in DAMAC Hills

A term has more deadlines than it looks

The Diploma is described to parents as two years ending in written papers, and that description causes most of the trouble. A Diploma year actually contains a sequence of school-set deadlines — internal coursework submissions, the mock window, option forms, supervision meetings — and every one of them arrives before the examinations do. Families in DAMAC Hills discover them one at a time, usually about a fortnight before each.

That matters more here than in communities with schools inside them. A student living in DAMAC Hills generally travels out to school, along Umm Suqeim Street extension or Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and gets home after five. The usable working evening is short. Deadlines that collide inside it cost more than they would in a household where the student is home by half past three.

So the planning question is not how many hours of tutoring to buy. It is which fortnight to buy them in. The same eight sessions placed before a mock window produce a different result from the same eight placed after it, and the same coursework support placed a term before a submission produces a different result from the same support placed a fortnight before. Those are the decisions this page is organised around.

IB Gram delivers all UAE tuition live, one to one and online over video in Gulf Standard Time. No tutor is sent to a DAMAC Hills address, and in-home visiting is a service offered only in India. In this community that is less of a compromise than it sounds: a visiting tutor would be adding a journey to a day that already contains two, and a session that depends on the Hessa Street interchange at six in the evening does not start when it is supposed to.

What the online format changes practically is reliability and reach. A 5.30pm slot stays a 5.30pm slot. A session can move within the same week without a journey being rearranged on either side. And a student needing a specialist in a particular Higher Level subject is matched from everyone who teaches it rather than from those willing to drive to Dubailand on a Tuesday.

A note on dates before the detail. Dubai Diploma students sit the May session. This page publishes no IB session or results dates, because none could be verified from the IB directly, and a date a family plans around has to be right. The dates that actually bind are the school's own, and the Diploma coordinator holds them.

What follows is a term planned properly: the three deadlines that are not the exam, the commute arithmetic that decides when a session can run, a fortnight-by-fortnight plan, what the market charges for home tutoring against online, and where Diploma marks go when a term runs out of time.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three stages generate requests from this part of Dubailand. Each has a different deadline structure, and that is what decides when support is worth buying.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects with three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Each subject carries an internally assessed component with a school-set deadline and written papers at the end. The second year compresses coursework submissions, mock examinations and the final run into roughly six months.

Dubai Diploma students sit the May session, which places the heaviest coursework and mock pressure between the winter break and the spring. DAMAC Hills families commonly enquire in the fortnight after mock results, when five or six working weeks remain rather than the eight they assume.

DP COREAges 16-19 · across both DP years

Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS

The 4,000-word Extended Essay, the TOK exhibition and prescribed-title essay, and the CAS requirement. Together the essay and TOK contribute up to three diploma points. All of them run on school-set internal deadlines and supervision meetings rather than on the examination calendar.

These deadlines usually sit before the mock window in Dubai schools, which means the collision families complain about in the spring was predictable in September. Writing the supervision meetings and submission dates onto one calendar in the first term is the cheapest intervention on this page.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Five years assessed against four criteria per subject, each marked out of 8 and converted by published boundaries. Deadlines are continuous rather than concentrated, which makes drift easy to miss: a student can hold a mid-range grade for two years while one criterion strand stays weak.

For DAMAC Hills families with younger children, the useful window is the end of MYP 4. There is a full year left to rebuild before either IGCSE or the Diploma begins, and the commute pressure is lower because the workload is.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Requests from DAMAC Hills arrive in a seasonal pattern, and the subject usually indicates which deadline is pressing. These are the Diploma courses asked for most, described by the deadline attached to each.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Two request peaks: early in the first year when algebraic demand bites, and after mocks when the non-calculator paper score arrives. The exploration deadline sits in the middle of the second year, usually before the mock window rather than after it.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Requests cluster around the exploration, because modelling work needs data and data collection fails at least once. The practical consequence is that the research question has to be settled a term early, not a fortnight early.

Physics

HL and SL

Demand follows the first full timed paper, usually late in the first year. The scientific investigation is the harder deadline, because its data collection depends on laboratory access that cannot be rescheduled after the timetable closes.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic chemistry arrives late in the second year and most students get one pass through it. Requests bunch there, though the underlying problem is usually stoichiometry from the opening term that was never made automatic.

Biology

HL and SL

The largest content volume of the three sciences, which makes a late start survivable but expensive. Data-response technique moves in weeks; recalling the physiology of three systems does not. The investigation drives spring enquiries.

Economics

HL and SL

The commentary portfolio is assembled from published articles over months, so the calendar matters more here than in most subjects. A portfolio built in the final fortnight reads like one, and the criteria are written to expose exactly that.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The Individual Oral has a fixed school date and is prepared last by almost everyone. Paper 1 unseen analysis improves fastest with weekly timed practice, which makes it a good fit for a short block in the term before mocks.

Business Management

HL and SL

Case-study technique responds quickly, so an eight-week block before mocks often suffices. The internally assessed project is the slow component and needs its research question agreed in the first half of the second year.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Two fixed internal deadlines, both left late. Choosing a prescribed title that can actually be argued takes a single session and saves a month of circling. Students who leave the essay to the final weeks lose points that affect an offer.

Extended Essay

Core

Four thousand words on a self-chosen research question, supervised at school with scheduled meetings. The common failure is a question too broad to answer in the length, which is identifiable in one conversation and expensive to discover in month four.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, all delivered live online and one to one. The choice follows the deadline rather than the budget.

Coursework block against an internal deadline

Six to eight sessions timed backwards from a school submission date, covering the published criteria, the research question or method, and criterion-by-criterion self-review. The tutor teaches the criteria and gives feedback on the student's own writing, and produces no part of the submission.

  • Criteria taught by name with their mark ceilings stated
  • Planned around the school date, not the examination window
  • Feedback on the student's own draft only

Pre-mock block

Eight weekly sessions ending at the mock window rather than starting after it. The version of this work that almost nobody buys, and the one that produces the better mock number, because a mock is a measurement and preparation for a measurement changes the measurement.

  • A target set against the mock, not against the final papers
  • Timed single papers from week one rather than from week six
  • Reviewed at four sessions with a continue-or-change decision

Post-mock triage

Two or three shorter sessions a week in the final weeks, spent on full timed papers and immediate mark-scheme review. The work is deciding which marks remain recoverable and drilling those, with explicit decisions about what will not be revised.

  • Lost marks sorted by cause, not by topic
  • Question-order and time-allocation strategy per paper
  • Written list of deliberate omissions

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in DAMAC Hills

01

What an IB home tutor in DAMAC Hills means in practice

  • The keyword names a category of tuition, not a doorstep visit
  • Delivery is live, online and one-to-one in Gulf Standard Time
  • Four journeys removed rather than two: the student's and the tutor's
  • No specialist free means a wait or a referral, not a general tutor

An IB home tutor in DAMAC Hills, as the phrase is used, means private one-to-one Diploma or Middle Years tuition arranged outside school for a student living in the community. IB Gram supplies exactly that, delivered live online over video in Gulf Standard Time rather than by somebody arriving at the villa. In-home visiting is a service offered only in India, and no UAE page on this site says otherwise.

The phrase persists because it describes a category rather than a method. Private tuition in Dubai meant a visitor with a folder for a long time, and the market for that still exists in Dubailand with a published rate attached. What has changed is the constraint it was built around. A tutor no longer has to live within reach of DAMAC Hills to teach a DAMAC Hills student, but driving there still takes the same amount of time it always did.

In this community the time argument is unusually strong. The student has already made two journeys that day. The tutor would be making two more, through the Hessa Street interchange or along Umm Suqeim Street extension at the worst hour. Removing all four leaves the student with a session that starts on time and an evening that still contains homework, which is the whole of what a parent is trying to protect.

What a family should expect is unglamorous and specific: a fixed slot at a realistic hour, a named specialist for one course at one level, a syllabus checklist that shortens, homework set from past papers and marked against the published scheme, and a written note after each session. Where no specialist is free for a course and level, the answer is a stated wait or a referral rather than a substitution.

02

The three deadlines that are not the exam

Ask a Diploma parent in DAMAC Hills when the important date is and they will name the examination session. Ask a Diploma coordinator and they will name three earlier ones. Those three are where the work actually gets decided, and they are all set by the school rather than by the board, which is why they are invisible to anyone searching online for a general Dubai calendar.

The first is the internal coursework deadline. Every Diploma subject has an internally assessed component with a school submission date, and those dates are usually clustered in the second year before the mock window. A student with six subjects can face four submissions inside a month, and the fortnight where that collides with mock revision is the one that produces the panicked February enquiry.

The second is the mock window itself. Mocks are a measurement, and most families treat them as an unavoidable weather event rather than as something to prepare for. Preparing for the measurement changes the measurement, and because predicted grades are informed by mock performance, the number matters beyond its diagnostic value.

The third is the option form, which belongs to the pre-Diploma year and closes earliest of all. Subject and level choices made on that form determine two years of work and, through prerequisites, what a student can apply for. The table below sets the three out with what should be true before each closes.

The practical step is to get all of them onto one page in September. Ask the Diploma coordinator for the internal deadline schedule, the mock window and the Extended Essay supervision dates, write them in one place, and look at where they cluster. The clusters are the fortnights to buy support in, and they are visible nine months early to anyone who asks.

03

The commute arithmetic, and when a session can actually run

Scheduling looks like a trivial problem until a term has lost four sessions to it. In DAMAC Hills the arithmetic is specific. A secondary student travelling to Al Barsha, Jumeirah or the Ranches leaves early and returns after five. Add the traffic on the Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Hessa Street corridors in the late afternoon and the first genuinely workable slot is 5.30pm, with 6pm more reliable in the second half of term.

That has consequences for session design, not just timing. A student starting at six has less in reserve than one starting at four, so ninety minutes of new content is a worse use of the hour than sixty minutes of timed practice and review. Blocks for this community are usually built as two shorter sessions a week rather than one long one, with the heavier written work set for the weekend.

It also argues for weekend mornings, particularly for students at schools in Motor City or Sports City whose fixtures and training fill weekday evenings. A Saturday or Sunday morning session holds through a sporting season in a way that a Tuesday at six does not, and for coursework process work — discussion rather than drill — the longer weekend slot is genuinely better.

The table below sets out what each pattern suits. None of it would matter if a tutor were driving to the villa, because then the constraint would be the tutor's route rather than the student's energy. Online delivery is what makes the pattern choosable, which in a community with this commute is most of its value.

A term, planned fortnight by fortnight

A term is about six fortnights, and planning at that resolution is more useful than planning by week or by month. Weeks are too short to show progress and months are too long to correct. The pattern below is for a second-year Diploma student with a coursework deadline and a mock window in the same term, which is the standard DAMAC Hills situation.

The first fortnight is diagnostic and sets the target. The second and third are the coursework block, finishing the drafting before mock revision begins rather than alongside it. The fourth is timed-paper work, the fifth is mock revision proper, and the sixth is the mocks themselves plus the review afterwards. That sequence works because it never asks a student to do two kinds of work in the same fortnight.

The common alternative — coursework and revision running together for six weeks — fails for a predictable reason. Coursework is slow, open-ended work that expands to fill available time, and revision is bounded work that gets displaced by it. Running them in parallel means the coursework gets done late and the revision gets done badly, which is the February pattern families describe every year.

The adjustment for a first-year student is simpler: the coursework fortnights become foundation work, and the mock fortnights become a first timed sitting of each paper. The adjustment for a student with no coursework deadline that term is to extend the timed-paper work, which is the thing almost nobody does enough of. The table sets it out.

ONE TERM AT FORTNIGHT RESOLUTION, SECOND DIPLOMA YEAR
FortnightThe workWhat is finished by the endWhat is deliberately not happening

What home tutoring costs in DAMAC Hills, and what it costs in time

Begin with the packages, because that is how in-home tuition is usually sold in this part of Dubai. Monthly arrangements advertised in this market include around AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits, and around AED 799 a month for eight online sessions. Those two figures describe the trade cleanly: eight hours at home against eight hours online, at roughly double the price.

The hourly bands behind them are published too. Bestimate's Tutoring Cost Dubai table puts in-home one-to-one at AED 180 to 350, and independent home tutors are quoted between AED 200 and 500 once travel is priced in. Qualified online subject tuition sits at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200 and IGCSE from AED 150. Specialists run AED 200 to 450 and beyond, with TutorChase at AED 270 and BartyED at AED 650 at the premium named end. At the budget end Tutopiya advertises from AED 33 to 52 and EdFlik from AED 45 to 65.

All of those are figures published by the providers named and read in October 2026. None is IB Gram's price list. They are printed because most pages competing for this search publish no price at all and the two that do quote US dollars, which is not the currency a DAMAC Hills family transacts in.

The time cost is the part no rate card shows. A visiting tutor in this community is budgeting thirty to forty-five minutes each way depending on the hour, and that time is inside the fee whether it is itemised or not. It also makes the tutor's availability thinner and cancellations more likely. For a family whose student is already home late, the arithmetic rarely favours adding two more journeys to the day.

Where the marks go when a term runs short

  • Three of the six loss categories are mechanical and fast to fix
  • Retrieval under time responds to timed papers, not to teaching
  • Content gaps in a short term get reduced to the two most examinable
  • Sort the marked scripts by cause; it takes an evening and costs nothing
  • The report cannot tell you this; only the script can

Every term runs short somewhere, and the question is where. Diploma marks are lost in a small number of categories, and in a compressed term the mechanical ones are both the largest and the cheapest to recover. That makes the triage decision clearer than families expect: fix the habits, rebuild two topics, and leave the rest alone on purpose.

The categories are consistent. Content genuinely not known. Content known but not retrieved under time pressure. Command term misread, so correct knowledge answered a different question. Working not written down, so method marks were unavailable. Arithmetic, units or significant figures. And questions not attempted because the clock ran out.

Three of those six are mechanical and respond within three or four weeks: command terms, written method, and unit and significant-figure discipline. One — retrieval under time — responds to timed practice rather than teaching. Only two are slow, and both are content problems that in a short term should be reduced to the two most examinable topics rather than attempted in full.

Doing this properly needs the marked papers, not the report. A report gives a grade and a comment; the script shows which category each lost mark fell into. Any DAMAC Hills family can run the sort themselves in an evening, and the result tells them whether the next block should be a technique block or a content block, which is the single most useful thing to know before paying for either.

07

The shape of the Dubai academic year

Dubai schools run three terms with a winter break, a spring break and a long summer, and the Diploma calendar sits inside that structure awkwardly. The second-year pressure lands in the terms either side of the winter break, which is also when the breaks interrupt the continuity that coursework needs. Planning that uses the breaks deliberately rather than treating them as pauses is worth real marks.

The winter break is the best coursework window in the year for a second-year student. There is no new teaching to keep up with, the days are free, and a draft finished there removes the February collision entirely. Families who treat it as recovery time and then spend February in crisis have made a predictable trade without noticing they were making it.

Ramadan falls at a different point each year and changes the shape of the school day: shorter hours and lower afternoon concentration. For online lessons the useful adjustment is simply to move the slot after Iftar, which produces more work than the same hour in the afternoon and needs no journey rearranged on either side. The period suits coursework discussion better than timed papers.

The long summer between the two Diploma years is the single largest block of uncommitted time a student has, and it sits exactly where first-year gaps are still cheap to close. Six sessions in July and August aimed at two named topics is the most efficient purchase in the entire two years, and it is the one almost nobody makes because nothing appears to be wrong in July.

08

Coursework, honesty and the line that does not move

  • Roughly half the marks on most coursework concern process and communication
  • The criteria are published and almost no student has read them
  • Self-marking a draft against each criterion is the highest-return session
  • No part of a submission is written, completed or produced by a tutor
  • Support arriving in the final fortnight cannot fix the research question

Every internally assessed component in the Diploma is marked against published criteria, and roughly half the available marks on most of them concern process and communication rather than the result. That is why coursework support is high-value work: the criteria are published, the mark ceilings are known, and almost no student has read either document before being told to.

What a tutor does with coursework is therefore specific. Explain each criterion and what it rewards. Question whether the research question or method can actually be answered in the space available. Discuss whether the evidence supports the conclusion. Have the student self-mark their own draft against each criterion and justify the mark they have given themselves. Then give feedback on what the student has written.

What a tutor does not do is write, complete, draft or produce any part of the submission. That is an IB academic-honesty rule rather than a house style, and work a student did not produce becomes a malpractice finding against the student rather than against whoever supplied it. Providers in this market sell completed internal assessments; the risk in that transaction lands entirely on the candidate.

The practical consequence for timing is that coursework support has to arrive early to be worth much. A tutor can teach criteria and review a draft in the final fortnight, which helps a little. A tutor cannot make an unworkable research question workable at that point, and that is the failure that actually costs the marks.

09

The regulator, the fees context and the permit

Dubai's private schools are overseen by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. ADEK covers Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the Sharjah Private Education Authority covers Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah has its Department of Knowledge, and the federal Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. A DAMAC Hills parent reading an inspection report is reading a KHDA document.

The market context explains why Diploma cohorts here are small. KHDA reported 387,441 students across 227 private schools in Dubai in 2024-25 offering 17 curricula, with the IB accounting for 7% of pupils and the UK curriculum the largest by enrolment. Seven new private schools arrive for 2026-27, four UK curriculum and three IB, creating 16,846 places, after six opened during 2025-26 with enrolment up 6%. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that fees would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year under Dubai's second economic incentives package, valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total.

KHDA also requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, with requirements to be implemented from the start of the 2025-26 academic year and instructional time calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. Separate classes are required for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies. For revision planning that means a Diploma student is timetabled beyond the six IB subjects.

On the tutoring side, private tuition is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Tutoring without one attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published. IB Gram holds no KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, Ministry of Education, IB, Cambridge or Pearson accreditation, claims none, and operates no office or centre in the UAE.

Where we tutor

DAMAC Hills and the communities around it

DAMAC Hills sits in the Dubailand belt around a golf course, with villa and townhouse clusters and a school inside the community. The notes below are about what each neighbouring community does to the working evening.

DAMAC Hills

A British-curriculum school sits inside the community, but many secondary students travel out to Al Barsha, Jumeirah or the Ranches. Those students are home after five, which makes 5.30pm the first realistic slot.

DAMAC Hills 2

Further out along the Dubai-Al Ain corridor with longer bus routes again. Blocks here are usually built around two sessions a week plus weekend work rather than three weekday evenings.

Mudon

Adjacent to the north-west with a younger population and more Middle Years demand. Enquiries tend to follow a report rather than a mock, which is the easier calendar to plan around.

Arabian Ranches 3

Newer than the original Ranches and closer to DAMAC Hills than to the older cluster. Diploma demand here is growing, and most of it is second-year coursework support.

Arabian Ranches and Ranches 2

The established school cluster nearby, with the largest Diploma cohorts in this belt. Several DAMAC Hills students commute here, which sets their arrival time at home.

Remraam

Commutes approaching an hour each way in heavy traffic. For exam-year students the saved second journey is frequently what makes a third weekly session possible at all.

Town Square

A younger community with primary and lower-secondary requests dominating. Short targeted blocks against a named weakness suit it better than year-long weekly tuition.

Motor City and Dubai Sports City

North along Hessa Street, where several DAMAC Hills students attend school. Their fixture and club timetables are the reason a weekday evening slot sometimes has to become a weekend morning.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Name the next school-set date

The enquiry that gets a useful answer names the course, the level and the next immovable date on the school calendar: a coursework submission, the mock window, an option form. That one fact decides whether the block is a coursework block, a pre-mock block or triage.

  2. 02

Pick the slot before the subject

In this community the hour matters. A realistic slot after the commute, usually 5.30pm or later, or a weekend morning, is agreed before matching, because a tutor who can only offer four o'clock is not a match however good they are at the subject.

  3. 03

    Diagnostic trial lesson

A full online session with the proposed specialist, spent on the student's most recent marked paper, sorting lost marks by cause. It ends with a written target and a short list of topics. No card is required and there is no obligation to continue.

  4. 04

One kind of work per fortnight

Coursework and revision are not run in parallel, because coursework expands and revision gets displaced. The term is sequenced at fortnight resolution so each block of two weeks has a single job, which is what prevents the February collision.

  5. 05

    Review at four sessions

The target is measured in writing at the halfway point of any block. If it has not moved, the diagnosis, the tutor or the frequency changes at no cost. Making that call at week four rather than week eight is the difference between one lost month and two.

Internal coursework deadlines and mock windows differ by several weeks between schools in this belt, and they bind long before the examination window does. A block built against a general Dubai calendar misses them, which is why the first question is about the next school-set date.

Scheduled around the commute

DAMAC Hills secondary students are usually home after five, so the first workable slot is 5.30pm and the most resilient pattern is one weekday session plus a weekend morning. Agreeing that before matching avoids a term that quietly loses four sessions to timing.

Four journeys removed, not two

A visiting tutor would add two journeys to a day that already contains two, through the corridors that are worst at exactly that hour. Online delivery means a 5.30pm session starts at 5.30pm and can be moved inside the same week without anybody driving.

One kind of work at a time

Running coursework and revision together is how February goes wrong: open-ended work expands and bounded work gets displaced. Sequencing a term at fortnight resolution, with a single job per fortnight, is a scheduling decision that costs nothing and changes the outcome.

Rates printed with their sources

Every AED figure here names the provider that published it and the month it was read, including the in-home packages that make the comparison honest. Most pages competing for this search publish no price, and the two that do quote US dollars.

Limits stated on the page

No home visits anywhere in the UAE, no regulator or board accreditation, no UAE office, no promised grade, no IB session dates that could not be verified at source, and no part of any coursework produced for a student. Each of those is deliberate.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in DAMAC Hills: your questions answered

Will an IB tutor come to our villa in DAMAC Hills?+

Not through IB Gram. Every UAE lesson is delivered live online, one to one, over video in Gulf Standard Time, and in-home visiting is a service offered only in India. In this community that is also the more practical arrangement: a visiting tutor adds two journeys through the late-afternoon corridors to a day in which the student has already made two. Published in-home market rates here run AED 180 to 500 an hour once travel is counted, against AED 150 to 300 for qualified online subject teaching.

What is the earliest a session can realistically start in DAMAC Hills?+

Usually 5.30pm, and 6pm is more reliable in the second half of term. Secondary students here generally travel out to Al Barsha, Jumeirah or the Ranches and arrive home after five once the Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Hessa Street corridors are busy. Because the student is tired by then, two shorter sessions a week work better than one long one, with heavier written work set for a weekend morning slot instead.

Which Diploma deadlines matter before the exams?+

Three, and all are set by the school rather than the board. Internal coursework submissions, which carry a fixed share of each subject grade and usually cluster in the second year. The Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge deadlines, which together affect up to three diploma points. And the mock window, which produces both diagnostic data and the information behind predicted grades. The option form in the pre-Diploma year closes earliest of all and decides two years of work.

Should coursework and mock revision run at the same time?+

No, and running them together is the most common reason February goes badly. Coursework is open-ended work that expands to fill whatever time exists; revision is bounded work that gets displaced by it. Sequencing them so each fortnight has a single job — two fortnights on coursework, finishing the draft, then two on timed papers and revision — means both get done. It costs nothing and it is a scheduling decision rather than an academic one.

Is the winter break a good time for Diploma work?+

It is the best coursework window in the year for a second-year student. There is no new teaching to keep up with, the days are free, and a draft finished there removes the collision with mock revision entirely. Families who treat it purely as recovery and then spend February in crisis have made that trade without noticing. Three or four sessions across the break, aimed at a coursework draft, is a disproportionately efficient purchase.

How much does a month of IB tutoring cost in this part of Dubai?+

Published monthly packages in this market include around AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home visits. Bestimate's monthly estimates for weekly hour-long sessions are AED 240 to 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. All are provider-published figures read in October 2026 and none is IB Gram's price list.

My child's mocks are in three weeks. Is a block worth starting now?+

Yes, if the target is the mock rather than the syllabus. Three weeks is enough for timed single papers with immediate mark-scheme review, which measures and improves the thing the mock will measure. It is not enough to rebuild content, and a block sold on that basis will disappoint. Preparing for a measurement changes the measurement, and since predicted grades are informed by mock performance, the number has consequences beyond diagnosis.

What can a tutor do with an Extended Essay?+

Question whether the research question can be answered in 4,000 words, help narrow it until it can, explain what the assessment criteria reward, discuss whether the argument is supported by the sources, and give feedback on what the student has written. A tutor cannot write, draft or complete any part of it. The highest-value session is the first one, on the question itself, because an unworkable question discovered in month four cannot be rescued by extra sessions.

How should the summer between the two Diploma years be used?+

On the two topics the student already knows they never understood. It is the largest block of uncommitted time in the two years and it sits where first-year gaps are still cheap to close. Six sessions across July and August, aimed at named topics rather than at general revision, removes a problem that otherwise reappears in a February mock. Reading ahead instead usually leaves the gap in place with more content stacked on top of it.

Can lessons move after Iftar during Ramadan?+

Yes, and for Diploma students the later slot usually produces more work. School days shorten and afternoon concentration drops, so a session after Iftar is more productive than the same hour at four o'clock, and because the lesson is online no journey has to be rearranged on either side. The period suits coursework discussion and criterion review better than full timed papers, which are worth scheduling either side of it.

Does a school report tell me enough to plan a term?+

Rarely. A report gives a grade and a comment, and neither says which component produced the grade or which category the lost marks fell into. The marked script does. A student can hold a 5 with strong coursework and weak timed papers, or the reverse, and those two situations need opposite blocks. Sorting the marked papers by cause takes an evening, costs nothing, and tells you whether to buy technique work or content teaching.

Why are Higher Level specialists hard to book after mock results?+

Because demand across every Dubai cohort peaks in the same fortnight. Higher Level Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are minority subjects inside Diploma cohorts that are themselves small, so the pool of tutors who have taught the extensions is thin, and every school's mock results land within a few weeks of each other. Booking before the mock window rather than after it is the practical response and costs nothing to arrange early.

How many sessions a week suit a student who gets home at five?+

Two shorter ones rather than one long one, for most students in this community. Sixty minutes at 5.30pm twice a week produces more than ninety minutes once, because concentration rather than teaching time is the limit after a commute. The most resilient pattern here is one weekday evening plus a weekend morning, with the longer weekend slot used for written work and discussion rather than for drill.

What happens if the four-session review shows no progress?+

One of three things changes, at no cost: the diagnosis, the tutor or the frequency. A target that has not moved by the halfway point of a block usually means the wrong problem was identified, and that is fixable. What should not happen is the block running quietly to its end because changing felt awkward. Families who never review a block are the ones who pay for a term and then describe tutoring as something that did not work.

Tell us the next date and the earliest slot

If you are looking for an IB home tutor in DAMAC Hills, the message that gets a useful answer names the course, the level, the next school-set deadline and the earliest hour your child can realistically start. From those four it is possible to say what kind of block makes sense, what it can move, and which specialist is free at that hour. The trial lesson is a full diagnostic session with the proposed tutor, delivered live online in Gulf Standard Time, and it ends with a written target rather than a quote.
