IGCSE Science Tutor in DAMAC Hills

An IGCSE science tutor in DAMAC Hills is usually sought in the middle of four comparisons: triple against double award, Cambridge against Pearson, one tutor against three, and which of the three sciences is actually the problem. This page answers all four with tables. IB Gram teaches DAMAC Hills, Mudon and Arabian Ranches 3 students live online, one to one, in Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in DAMAC Hills

Four comparisons, and the one that saves the most money

Science enquiries from DAMAC Hills nearly always arrive as a single request — science is going badly, three subjects are involved, help is needed — and nearly always need to be broken into four comparisons before anything is bought. Which route the school entered. Which board. Whether one tutor or three. And which of the three sciences is genuinely the problem rather than merely the loudest.

The fourth is the one that saves most. Where marks are falling in biology, chemistry and physics at once, the cause is frequently a single quantitative gap appearing three times: rearrangement, unit handling, significant figures, or data questions answered without specific figures. One block addresses that in one weekly session rather than three, which costs a third as much and moves marks on three papers.

The first comparison decides how much there is to cover. Three separate sciences gives three IGCSEs with the fullest content and the heaviest Year 11 workload in any subject combination. Cambridge Coordinated Science 0654 is a double award with less per discipline. Combined Science 0653 is a single award with the least. The school makes that entry, usually in Year 9 or early Year 10, and it has consequences at sixteen that are rarely explained at the time.

The second decides what the papers look like. Cambridge 0610, 0620 and 0625 and Pearson 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1 cover similar science and ask for it differently, including how practical skills are examined. A tutor matched to the subject rather than the code teaches correct material against unfamiliar question shapes, and in a mock report that reads as the student's carelessness.

IB Gram delivers all UAE tuition live, one to one and online over video in Gulf Standard Time. No tutor is sent to a DAMAC Hills address, and in-home visiting is a service offered only in India. In this community that matters practically: secondary students travel out to school and arrive home after five, so a session that starts on the minute and adds no journey is the version that survives a term.

The comparison families run instinctively — this community against the next, this provider against that one — turns out to matter least. Science tutor pools are not deeper in Arabian Ranches than in DAMAC Hills once lessons are online, and the only local variable is what time a tired Year 11 student can usefully sit down.

What follows is the four comparisons with the evidence attached, plus a comparison of the formats a family can actually buy and what each of them can reach. If money is limited, read the section on one tutor against three before anything else, because the twenty-minute test it describes can be run at a kitchen table and routinely turns a three-block plan into a one-block plan without changing the result.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three stages produce science requests from this belt, and the comparison that matters shifts at each one.

TRIPLEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Separate sciences (Cambridge 0610, 0620, 0625)

Biology, Chemistry and Physics entered as three separate IGCSEs, each with its own papers and grade. Cambridge tiers each into Core and Extended, with the Core route capping the grade available. Pearson runs 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1 as the equivalent separate entries.

Triple science is the standard route for students in this belt heading towards A Level or IB Higher Level sciences, and it produces the heaviest Year 11 workload of any combination. Requests from DAMAC Hills and the Ranches concentrate here and usually name one science rather than all three.

DOUBLEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Coordinated Science, double award (Cambridge 0654)

A double award with more content than Combined and less than three separate sciences. Papers mix disciplines, so a question on energy may be followed by one on cells, and revision has to be organised around paper structure rather than around subject.

A reasonable middle route for a student who needs science but not three full syllabuses, and frequently the better recommendation for a student struggling across all three. Progression to a post-16 science from this route should be confirmed with the receiving school in Year 10.

COMBINEDAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Combined Science, single award (Cambridge 0653)

A single award covering all three sciences with the least content per discipline. The lightest science workload available and the most constrained for progression, since entry to an A Level or Higher Level science from a single combined award is not automatic.

Appropriate where a student is not continuing science at sixteen and the hours are needed by other subjects. The conversation to have in Year 10 is with the school a student intends to join at sixteen, because requirements are set by the receiving school rather than by the board.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Each entry names the codes and the specific cause of lost marks in that subject, because the three sciences fail for three different reasons and that is the comparison that decides the first block.

Biology — Cambridge 0610, Pearson 4BI1

Core and Extended

Cells, transport, enzymes, nutrition, respiration, coordination, reproduction, inheritance and ecology. The heaviest content load of the three. Marks go to near-synonyms the scheme rejects and to data questions answered without quoting figures and units from the graph or table.

Chemistry — Cambridge 0620, Pearson 4CH1

Core and Extended

Particles, bonding, stoichiometry, acids and bases, electrolysis, the periodic table, organic chemistry and analysis. Three calculation families carry most of the numerical marks and the scheme pays for the layout of the working as much as for the answer.

Physics — Cambridge 0625, Pearson 4PH1

Core and Extended

Motion, forces, energy, thermal physics, waves, electricity, magnetism and nuclear physics. Explanation questions want a chain of consequence in words, and beneath that sits rearrangement, where a large share of apparent physics difficulty actually originates.

Combined Science — Cambridge 0653

Core and Extended

A single award across all three sciences with reduced content per discipline. The papers mix disciplines, which changes revision organisation entirely and catches out students who prepare one science to completion before starting the next.

Coordinated Science — Cambridge 0654

Core and Extended

A double award sitting between Combined and three separate sciences. Long papers mixing disciplines, where revision organised by paper rather than by subject is not a preference but a requirement for finishing in time.

Practical assessment and the alternative route

All science routes

Cambridge sciences carry a practical component with an alternative-to-practical option, and Pearson handles the same skills within its own structure. The examined skills are written: variable control, apparatus and precision choice, tabulation, anomalies and criticising a method.

Data and graph questions

All science routes

Common to all three sciences and routinely under-prepared. Marks require figures quoted with units, trends described against specific values, and anomalies identified rather than ignored. A generic description of a rising line earns a fraction of a specific one.

Quantitative skills across the sciences

All science routes

Rearrangement, ratio, percentages, standard form and significant figures, appearing identically in all three sciences and in mathematics. A student stalling at the same step in four subjects has one problem rather than four, which is the single most valuable diagnosis available.

Extended-response questions

Extended tiers

Longer answers requiring a claim, the supporting science and a conclusion that answers the question asked. Students write everything they know about the topic instead, which rewards relevance rather than volume and leaves marks unclaimed.

Command terms in science papers

All science routes

Describe, explain, suggest, compare, calculate and state are defined and enforced. 'Describe' answered with an explanation wastes time; 'explain' answered with a description earns nothing. Learning the handful that recur takes two weeks and pays in all three sciences.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, all live online and one to one, compared on what each can reach rather than on price alone.

Shared-skills block

One weekly session on what all three sciences assess identically: data and graph questions, command terms, unit handling, rearrangement and significant figures. Usually the most efficient first purchase for a triple-science student, because a single fix pays in three papers.

  • Figures and units quoted from graphs; trends described specifically
  • Command terms learned by definition and applied to real questions
  • Rearrangement drilled through science problems, not abstract algebra

Single-science block

One science, one specialist, one target, matched to the syllabus code and tier. The right purchase where the losses are genuinely confined to one subject, which a marked script from each science will establish in a single session.

  • Matched to the code and the entered tier
  • Past questions on one topic drilled across five years
  • Student marks their own work against the published scheme

Two-science pairing on separate evenings

Separate specialists for two sciences, deliberately spaced across the week so two sets of homework do not land on one night. The common Year 11 arrangement for triple-science students solid in one subject and losing marks in two.

  • A specialist per syllabus rather than one tutor across both
  • Sessions spaced on purpose, which matters after a long commute
  • Overlapping skills such as moles and graphs taught once, not twice

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in DAMAC Hills

01

What this search returns, and what is on offer

  • Resolve 'science' into codes and tiers before planning anything
  • Losses across all three sciences often share a single cause
  • A shared block costs a third of three and pays in three papers
  • Delivery is live, online and one-to-one; no UAE home visits

An IGCSE science tutor in DAMAC Hills means one-to-one teaching in one or more of biology, chemistry and physics, arranged outside school for a student in the community. IB Gram provides that live online over video in Gulf Standard Time. No tutor is sent to a DAMAC Hills address, and in-home visiting is a service offered only in India, which is stated here rather than discovered later.

The first thing any provider should do with a science enquiry is refuse to treat science as one subject. The request has to be resolved into which science, which syllabus code and which tier before a sensible plan exists. The three subjects fail for different reasons, respond to different first interventions, and are marked by schemes with different habits, so a single tutor across all three will be strong in one and adequate in two.

The second thing is to look for the shared cause, because that is where the money is saved. Where a student is losing marks in all three sciences, the explanation is more often one quantitative skill gap appearing three times than three separate subject weaknesses. Rearrangement, unit handling, significant figures, or data questions answered without specific figures. Fixing that once pays in three subjects and costs a third of three blocks.

So what is on offer is a diagnosis first and a block second. A marked paper from each science, read together, usually shows the pattern inside one session. Where it is shared, the first purchase is a shared-skills block. Where it is genuinely subject-specific, the block is matched to the code and the tier, and where no specialist is free for that code the honest answer is a stated wait rather than a substitution.

02

Triple, double or single award: the workload comparison

The route comparison is usually framed as a question of ability and is better framed as a question of workload against return. Three separate sciences is the fullest content and the heaviest Year 11 timetable of any subject combination available. A double award is substantially lighter per discipline. A single combined award is lighter again and the most constrained at sixteen.

The return depends entirely on the post-16 intention. A student taking two sciences at A Level or IB Higher Level needs three at IGCSE where possible, because dropping one narrows options at exactly the wrong moment. A student taking no science at sixteen gains little from three full syllabuses and loses real hours that other subjects need. A student who does not yet know should keep options open and manage the load deliberately.

That middle case is where the honest recommendation most often differs from the commercial one. A student struggling across all three sciences but needing science at sixteen is frequently better served by a shared-skills block and a double award than by three thin separate entries. That advice costs a provider two subject blocks, which is a reasonable explanation for how rarely it is offered.

Timing is the constraint on all of it. Routes and tiers are fixed at the entry deadline, which sits months before the papers, so the conversation belongs in the first half of Year 10. The table compares the three routes on workload, progression and what to ask the school about each.

Cambridge against Pearson for the sciences

Two schools a few minutes apart in this belt can enter the same science with different boards, and the differences affect preparation rather than difficulty. Content overlap is substantial. Question styles, tiering vocabulary and the handling of practical assessment are not, and a student drilled on one board's practical question style and entered for the other knows the science and misreads the task.

The first fact to establish is the code. Cambridge biology is 0610, chemistry 0620, physics 0625, with Combined 0653 and Coordinated 0654 for the non-separate routes. Pearson International GCSE uses 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1. The codes appear on the school's subject information sheet and at the top of every past paper, and they settle which board's papers and mark schemes should be used in practice.

The second is how practical skills are assessed, because that varies and it is examined every series. Cambridge sciences carry a practical component with an alternative-to-practical option whose question style is distinctive: which variable to control and why, which apparatus and to what precision, how to tabulate results with units in the headings, which point is anomalous, what is wrong with a described method. Pearson assesses the same skills within its own structure.

The third is what is provided on the paper, which changes what must be memorised and is stated in the current specification rather than in anybody's memory of how the paper used to look. The table compares the boards on the dimensions that affect preparation, with a note on what to check for the student's own cohort.

One tutor or three: the comparison most families get wrong

  • Three tutors assumes three problems; usually there is one
  • The twenty-minute quantitative test needs no specialist knowledge
  • Watch for hesitation rather than wrong answers
  • A shared block is slower to show and lifts three papers
  • Add a second science only once the first has moved

Faced with three sciences going badly, the instinct is to buy three tutors. It is almost always the wrong first move, for two reasons. The first is diagnostic: three subject blocks assume three subject problems, and the single most common finding is one quantitative gap appearing three times. The second is managerial: nobody reviews three blocks honestly, so three unreviewed blocks run to the end and the term disappears.

The diagnostic test is cheap and takes twenty minutes with no specialist knowledge. Ask the student to make a named quantity the subject of three formulae, convert units in two directions, and write two values in standard form. Watch for hesitation rather than wrong answers, because a student who arrives at the right result slowly in a quiet room will not arrive at it in a timed paper with six questions waiting.

Where that test shows a shared gap, the right first purchase is one weekly session on the shared skills: data and graph questions, command terms, units, rearrangement and significant figures. It is slower to show visible movement than topic teaching, which is why providers rarely propose it, and it is the only version that lifts three papers at once.

Where the test is clean and the losses really are confined to one science, buy that one and add a second only once the first has demonstrably moved. The arrangement used here is a specialist per syllabus on separate evenings, which also spreads the homework rather than landing two sets on a single night after a long commute.

05

Biology, chemistry or physics: which is hardest for your child

Parents often ask which science is hardest, and the honest answer is that it depends on what the student is good at rather than on the subjects themselves. Each rewards a different aptitude, and a student can be badly matched to one while comfortable in another with no difference in ability at all.

Biology rewards precise terminology and careful reading of data, and it carries the largest volume of content to retain. Chemistry rewards calculation discipline in a narrow set of forms plus a body of organic reactions that has to be known. Physics rewards algebraic fluency and the ability to explain a mechanism in words, and is comparatively light on memorisation.

So a student who recalls well and manipulates poorly will find biology least punishing and physics most, while one who manipulates comfortably and dislikes memorising will find the reverse. That is a statement about assessment shape rather than about intelligence, and it is useful because it predicts which science will respond fastest to a short block and which needs a longer one.

The table compares the three on what they reward, what they punish, and how quickly a block moves the mark. It is the comparison worth making before choosing which single science to support when the budget covers one, and it also informs the route decision in Year 10 for a student who may be able to drop one.

One practical use of the table deserves spelling out. Where a budget covers a single science block, the better choice is usually the subject whose first intervention is fastest rather than the subject with the lowest grade. A biology vocabulary block showing results in two or three weeks frees attention and confidence for the others, whereas starting with the slowest rebuild often means the term ends with one subject half-improved and two untouched.

Why the community comparison closes quickly

Families in DAMAC Hills comparing themselves with Arabian Ranches or Mudon for science support are comparing something that barely varies. Once lessons are delivered online, every community in this belt draws on the same pool of science tutors, and biology in particular has a deep pool everywhere. There is no neighbourhood advantage to find and no agency holds one either.

What does vary is the clock, and here it varies in one direction. Secondary students in DAMAC Hills generally travel out to Al Barsha, Jumeirah or the Ranches and arrive home after five, which rules out the late-afternoon slots available to families living next to their school. The adjustments are shorter sessions, two rather than one, and a weekend morning where a weekday evening keeps collapsing.

The second variable is which school the student attends, because that determines the route, the board, the tier and the mock window rather than the supply of tutors. Two students living on the same street in DAMAC Hills can sit different boards and different routes if they attend different schools, and their plans should differ even though their postcode does not.

There is one real exception. For a family that wants a tutor in the room, geography does matter, because the pool shrinks to people willing to drive to Dubailand at the hour the session would run. That is why published in-home rates in this part of Dubai sit above online ones, and it is the single scenario in which this address is a disadvantage relative to a community nearer the centre of the city.

07

Group class or one-to-one: what each reaches

Tuition centres in Dubai commonly offer group science classes and they are a legitimate product for a particular job. They cover content at a fixed pace with a fixed curriculum, which suits a student who has missed teaching or who needs the material presented a second time. They cost less per hour than one-to-one and the comparison deserves to be made fairly.

What a group class cannot do is match to a board, a tier or a student's specific error pattern, because the class is set before the student arrives. It cannot spend a session on one marked script. It cannot drill one student's recurring convention failure while others wait. For a student losing marks to a nameable mechanical habit, that is precisely the work required.

The honest division is therefore by diagnosis. Where the problem is missing content, a group class at a lower rate is a reasonable purchase. Where the problem is that the content is known and the marks are being lost to terminology, layout, units or command terms, one-to-one matched to the code is the only format that reaches it, whatever the relative cost per hour.

The table compares the formats on reach and on published rate together, because comparing them separately is how a family ends up paying a low rate for a job the format cannot do. All rates quoted name the provider that published them and the month they were read.

The option worth asking about first is the one that costs nothing. Many schools in this belt run after-hours science support or clinics, staffed by the department that set the mock and entered the student. Where it exists it is matched to the board and the tier by definition, and the only question is whether it has time for one student's error pattern. Asking before buying anything is a reasonable first step and a surprising number of families never do.

Entries, the two series and practical assessment

  • UAE candidates sit June and November; February/March is India-only
  • Ask which Cambridge administrative zone the school's centre sits in
  • Pearson publishes provisional timetables; plan from the live one
  • The school supplies the laboratory; the marks follow the writing
  • Drill the right board's practical question style, not the other's

Two administrative facts bound every science plan in this belt, and both sit with the school. The first is the entry: which board, which route, which codes, which tier. The second is the entry deadline, which closes months before the papers and after which the route and tier are fixed for that series.

The second is the calendar, and the science-specific risk inside it is the sheer number of papers. Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level examinations in a June series and a November series, with Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October for the years below. The February/March series is offered to India only, so a candidate sitting in the UAE plans around June and keeps November as the resit route, with no third date to move a weak subject to. A triple-award student then faces six science papers inside those few weeks, and their exact spacing is not a national fact: Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones, states that using the correct zone timetable is essential, and says it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an examination after using the wrong version. With six papers to arrange revision around, the wrong version is not a small error.

Pearson's calendar runs on its own labels, with Edexcel International GCSE sitting in May/June and November. Pearson issues provisional timetables ahead of each series and then a final one, and across three sciences that distinction is not pedantry, because the order in which the biology, chemistry and physics papers fall is what a twelve-week revision split is built on, and the provisional version moves. Plan from the live official timetable only. The published record gives the rest of the year its shape: the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Read as a planning tool, those tell you that a November entry decided in September leaves roughly eight teaching weeks, and that its grade does not land until the following term.

Practical assessment is the science-specific point. The laboratory is the school's work and no tutor replaces it in any format. What is examined is the written craft around practical work — variable control, apparatus and precision, tabulation with units in the headings, anomalies, criticising a described method — and all of that is drilled on screen using real past-paper data. Saying which half belongs to whom prevents a family paying for something no tutor can supply.

09

The regulator, the permit and the claims avoided

Everything that decides a science entry, from the board to the award route to whether practical work is assessed by paper or by coursework, is the school's to decide, and in DAMAC Hills the school answers to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which u.ae describes as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Across the rest of the country the same function sits elsewhere: ADEK for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the Sharjah Private Education Authority for Sharjah, a Department of Knowledge in Ras Al Khaimah, and the federal Ministry of Education for private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah. Two of those authorities reach further into a science department than KHDA does, because in Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah the authority also approves fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, so a change of award route is an approval question there and a school decision here.

KHDA requires Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, with instructional time calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. For a triple-science student in Year 11 the effect is material: the examined subjects are not the whole timetable, so a revision plan drawn from the entry sheet assumes hours that are already committed elsewhere.

Underneath the school sits a second, smaller licence, and it belongs to the individual rather than the institution. A private science tutor in the UAE needs the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system. Hiring separately for biology, chemistry and physics means asking three people the same question, which is tedious and still cheaper than the alternative, since tutoring without a permit attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws and no fine schedule is published, so nobody can tell you what the exposure actually is. The categories eligible to hold one cover essentially every credible science tutor in this belt, including teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged 15 to 18, which is why a missing permit says something about the tutor rather than about the rules.

IB Gram holds no Cambridge, Pearson, International Baccalaureate, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA or Ministry of Education approval or accreditation, claims none, and operates no office or centre in the UAE. Specifications, past papers, mark schemes and examiner reports are linked at source rather than reproduced. No grade is promised, no rating is published, and no statistic appears without a sample size, a date and a method.

Where we tutor

DAMAC Hills against the communities next door

These communities share the same syllabuses and the same series. What differs is which school a student attends and how late they get home.

DAMAC Hills

A British-curriculum school inside the community, with many secondary students travelling out. Home after five, so a triple-science student is best served by two shorter sessions than one long one.

DAMAC Hills 2

Longer bus routes along the Dubai-Al Ain corridor. The difference from DAMAC Hills is half an hour of arrival time rather than any difference in available science tutors.

Mudon

Adjacent and younger, with Year 7 to Year 9 demand dominant. Written explanation structure and unit handling are the high-value work and they transfer to every science later.

Arabian Ranches 3

Closer to DAMAC Hills than to the original Ranches, with rising IGCSE demand. Triple-science entries are growing here from a low base.

Arabian Ranches and Ranches 2

The established cluster where many DAMAC Hills students sit their IGCSEs, and where the heaviest triple-science workloads in the belt sit. Residents there are home earlier.

Remraam and Dubailand Residence

Commutes near an hour each way. Online delivery is what makes a second science session in the same week possible at all.

Town Square and Motor City

Town Square skews younger; Motor City loses weekday evenings to training. Both argue for weekend mornings over weekday evenings during a season.

'Cambridge 0620 and 0625 Extended, Year 11, mocks 5 and 4' with the scripts attached is answerable. Two marked papers read side by side usually show within a session whether the cause is shared across the sciences or confined to one.

  2. 02

    Run the twenty-minute quantitative test

Three rearrangements, two unit conversions, two values in standard form. Watch for hesitation rather than wrong answers. Where the hesitation is consistent, the first block is shared-skills work rather than three subject blocks, and that single decision saves most of the budget.

  3. 03

    Buy one block, not three

The shared block, or the single weakest science where a grade matters for a post-16 intention. Add a second only once the first has demonstrably moved. Families who start with three tutors rarely review any of them, which is how a term and a budget disappear together.

  4. 04

Weekly work, self-marked against the right board

Questions set from five recent years of the board the student actually sits, marked by the student against the official scheme with every withheld mark named. The error log runs across weeks so a repeated category becomes visible rather than re-explained.

  5. 05

    Review at four sessions

The target is measured in writing. If the categories in the log have not changed, the diagnosis, the tutor or the frequency changes at no cost. In a Year 11 science timetable, catching that at week four rather than week eight recovers a month.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Four comparisons before any purchase

Route, board, one tutor against three, and which science is genuinely the problem. Families compare neighbourhoods and providers instead, which are the two variables with the least effect, and arrive at three blocks when one would have done.

The shared cause looked for first

Losses across all three sciences are often one quantitative gap appearing three times. A twenty-minute test establishes it with no specialist knowledge, and where it is the finding a single weekly block moves marks on three papers for a third of the cost.

Route advice that costs us blocks

A student struggling across all three sciences but needing science at sixteen is frequently better served by a shared block and a double award than by three thin separate entries. That recommendation removes two subject blocks from the invoice, which is probably why it is rarely offered.

Matched to the board's practical style

Cambridge carries a practical component with an alternative-to-practical option; Pearson assesses the same skills within its own papers. A student drilled on the wrong board's practical questions knows the science and misreads the task, and in a mock report that looks like carelessness.

Formats compared on reach and price together

A group class covers content and cannot reach one student's error pattern. A budget tutor supervises homework and cannot diagnose an Extended script. Comparing rate without comparing reach is how a family pays a low price for a job the format cannot do.

Scheduled for a student home after five

Two shorter sessions rather than one long one, from 5.30pm or on a weekend morning, with the two sciences deliberately spaced across the week. Online delivery is what makes that pattern choosable rather than dictated by a tutor's driving route.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in DAMAC Hills: your questions answered

Should we buy one science tutor or three?+

One, in most cases, and often not for the subject that looks worst. Where marks are falling in biology, chemistry and physics at once, the cause is frequently a single quantitative gap appearing three times — rearrangement, unit handling, significant figures, or data questions answered without specific figures. A shared-skills block addresses that in one weekly session rather than three. Buying three tutors before diagnosing is how a term and a budget disappear at the same time.

Does a double award close off science at sixteen?+

Not necessarily, but it depends on the receiving school rather than on the board. Coordinated Science 0654 as a double award is usually acceptable for post-16 science and a single Combined Science 0653 award is the most constrained, since entry to an A Level or Higher Level science from it is not automatic. The conversation to have in Year 10 is with the school your child intends to join at sixteen, because requirements are set there.

Is one science genuinely harder than the others?+

Not in the abstract; it depends on the student's aptitude. Biology rewards precise terminology and careful data reading with the largest content load. Chemistry rewards calculation discipline plus a body of organic reactions. Physics rewards algebraic fluency and causal explanation and is lightest on memorisation. A student who recalls well and manipulates poorly finds biology least punishing and physics most, which is about assessment shape rather than ability.

Can a science tutor come to DAMAC Hills?+

Independent tutors do, at published market rates of roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour once travel is counted. IB Gram does not: all UAE lessons are delivered live online, one to one, over video in Gulf Standard Time, and in-home visiting is a service offered only in India. In this community the online format also protects the evening, since the student has already made two journeys and a 5.30pm session starts at 5.30pm rather than whenever traffic allows.

How do I check whether the real problem is maths rather than science?+

Twenty minutes, no specialist knowledge required. Ask the student to make a named quantity the subject of three formulae, convert units in two directions, and write two values in standard form. Watch for hesitation rather than for wrong answers, because a student who gets there slowly in a quiet room will not get there in a timed paper. Consistent hesitation means the first block should be quantitative, taught through science problems rather than abstract algebra.

Does a tuition centre group class work for IGCSE science?+

For content that was missed and needs a second pass, at a lower rate per hour, it can be a reasonable purchase. For a student whose content is known and whose marks are being lost to terminology, calculation layout or command terms, it cannot help, because the class is set before the student arrives and cannot spend a session on one marked script. The format should be chosen by diagnosis rather than by price.

How are practical skills examined if we are tutored online?+

The examined skills are written: which variable to control and why, which apparatus and to what precision, how to tabulate results with units in the column headings, which point is anomalous, and what is wrong with a described method. Cambridge offers an alternative-to-practical route, and all those techniques are drilled on screen with real past-paper data. Handling apparatus in a school laboratory remains the school's part of the work and no tutor replaces it.

Is DAMAC Hills at a disadvantage for science tutors?+

Only if you want someone in the room, in which case the pool shrinks to people willing to drive to Dubailand at the hour a session would run, which is why published in-home rates here sit above online ones. For online tuition there is no disadvantage: every community in this belt draws on the same pool, and biology in particular is deep everywhere. What differs locally is the arrival time home and therefore the session pattern.

Which board's past papers should we use?+

Only the board the student is actually entered for, identified by the code at the top of a past paper or on the school's subject information sheet. Cambridge separate sciences are 0610, 0620 and 0625; Pearson uses 4BI1, 4CH1 and 4PH1. The archives are large enough that there is no reason to borrow, and practising the other board's practical question style in particular teaches a technique that will not be examined.

What is the single fastest mark recovery across the three sciences?+

Command terms, because they appear in all three subjects and are defined and enforced in marking. 'Describe' answered with an explanation wastes time needed elsewhere; 'explain' answered with a description earns nothing; 'suggest' invites a reasoned possibility rather than a recalled fact. Learning the handful that recur in a student's own papers takes about two weeks and pays in biology, chemistry and physics simultaneously, which few single interventions do.

Should a struggling triple-science student drop to a double award?+

If science is needed at sixteen but three separate grades are not, frequently yes, and the recommendation is unpopular with providers because it removes two subject blocks from the invoice. Three thin entries prepared badly serve a student less well than two solid ones. The constraint is timing: routes and tiers are fixed at the entry deadline months before the papers, so the conversation belongs in the first half of Year 10.

What does supporting two sciences cost in this part of Dubai?+

Published rates run from roughly AED 33 to 65 an hour at the university-student end, where Tutopiya and EdFlik advertise, to AED 150 to 300 for qualified online subject teaching, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150. Specialists sit at AED 200 to 450 or more, TutorChase at AED 270. Bestimate's monthly estimates for weekly hour sessions are AED 240 to 600, AED 600 to 1,200 and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more by tier. Multiply before committing.

Can two sciences be tutored on the same evening?+

They can and it is usually a mistake, especially for a student arriving home after five. Two sets of homework landing on one night tends to mean one of them is done badly, and the second session of an evening gets the tired half of a student's attention. The arrangement used here is a specialist per syllabus on separate evenings, which spreads both the teaching and the work the student has to do between sessions.

When do entries and tiers get fixed for the sciences?+

At the school's entry deadline, which sits months before the papers and after which the board, the route and the tier are fixed for that series. Where a Cambridge science is tiered, a Core entry caps the grade available however the revision goes. Ask the school when entries close, during Year 10 rather than Year 11, because a tier conversation held before that date is a decision and one held afterwards is a complaint.

Send the route, the codes and two scripts

For an IGCSE science tutor in DAMAC Hills, the message that gets a precise answer names the route, the codes and the tier, attaches a marked script from each science that worries you, and says the earliest hour your child can start after the commute. Read together those scripts usually show whether the cause is shared across the sciences or confined to one, which decides whether the first purchase is a shared-skills block or a subject specialist. Lessons are live online in Gulf Standard Time.
