IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Mohammed Bin Zayed City

The search for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Mohammed Bin Zayed City has an honest answer, and it is not the one most providers give. For mainstream subjects the local pool is adequate. For six or seven specific courses it is close to empty, and no search radius fixes that. IB Gram runs no home visits in the UAE: lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. This page names which courses are scarce and what to do about each one.

  • A named scarcity map rather than a claim of unlimited availability

IB & IGCSE in Mohammed Bin Zayed City

The honest version of what is available near Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Start with what is true. For Year 7 to Year 9 mathematics, for mainstream IGCSE subjects at Core tier, for English support and for general study skills, Mohammed Bin Zayed City has a reasonable local supply of competent tutors, and a family that wants somebody in the room can find one. Nothing on this page argues otherwise, and a provider who pretends the local market is useless is selling rather than advising.

Then the part nobody publishes. There is a specific list of courses where the pool in any single Abu Dhabi community is thin to the point of being empty in a given term, and where widening the search adds travel time rather than expertise. Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level. Theory of Knowledge. Extended-tier chemistry tied to an internal assessment or coursework deadline in the same month. Edexcel-specific science codes in a family that assumed Cambridge. Arabic as a first language. Coordinated Sciences, where the syllabus version determines half the content.

What happens when a family searches for one of those locally is predictable. They are not told the pool is empty. They are offered the nearest person who says yes, which is usually a capable graduate who has never taught that course to an examination, and the gap surfaces three or four sessions later when the explanation of a mark scheme does not match what the school said. By then the diagnostic hours have been paid for and will have to be paid for again.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City makes this worse for a structural reason rather than a reputational one. It is a large mainland community whose population is spread across several curricula, so the Diploma cohort in particular is distributed thinly between schools rather than concentrated in one. Thin demand produces thin local supply. That is arithmetic, not a judgement about the area, and it applies equally to several of the newer communities in the emirate.

This page is written to be useful whoever you hire. It names the scarce courses and says what to do about each. It maps the transition gaps between curricula, subject by subject, because transfers are common in these zones. It collects the word and page limits for assessed components into one reference table, which almost no competitor publishes. It explains how Ramadan and the UAE academic calendar move revision windows. And it states the honesty boundary on assessed work. IB Gram provides no home visits in Abu Dhabi; visiting tutors are a service offered only in India, and that has been the position on every country page we publish since the first one went live. The lesson reaches a desk in your own home over live video, with a shared whiteboard and your child's own worksheet open, which is a different proposition from a car at the gate and should be judged as one.

At a glance

  • Mainstream subjects: local supply is adequate and nearness is a fair filter
  • Scarce courses: AA Higher Level, Theory of Knowledge, Arabic first language and others
  • Widening a radius adds journey time rather than course depth
  • Extended Essay: 4,000 words maximum; TOK essay: 1,600 words maximum
  • Transfers between curricula are common here and produce predictable gaps
  • Ramadan moves roughly eleven days earlier each Gregorian year, shifting revision windows
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Four programmes account for nearly every request from these communities, and a dual-board household often runs two of them at once. The notes below describe what each one actually demands of a tutor.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects with three normally at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internal assessment carries weight in every subject, and school internal deadlines govern the year more tightly than anything the board publishes. Support concentrates on assessment criteria, research design and command-term discipline rather than on content coverage alone.

UAE schools sit the May session. No IB examination or results date appears on this page, because the IB's own site blocks automated verification and a wrong date acted on by a family is worse than no date. The internal deadline calendar held by your school's IB coordinator is the document that actually binds, and it is worth requesting in writing at the start of Year 12.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

Criterion-referenced assessment against four criteria per subject, graded 1 to 8, with no terminal written papers in most schools. Students develop investigation and communication strongly and meet structured examination technique late, which is the single most common transition problem in this corridor.

Because MYP cohorts here are smaller than the British-track ones, a student moving from MYP into an IGCSE school is often the only one in the room with that background. Their specific gap, which is paper technique rather than content, goes unnoticed in a class where most students have the opposite profile.

CAIEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

Terminal written assessment organised by syllabus code, with most subjects tiered into Core and Extended. The code determines the paper structure, the formula provision and the mark scheme, which is why a tutor should be matched to 0620 Extended rather than to chemistry.

Cambridge allocates every exam centre to one of six administrative zones and states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone timetable. UAE candidates sit the June and November series; the February and March series is offered in India only and belongs in no Abu Dhabi plan.

EDEXCELAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The other British-track route here, with codes including 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1 and 4BI1, tiered Foundation and Higher. Question phrasing, paper structure and formula provision differ from Cambridge, so revision material does not transfer cleanly between boards even where content overlaps.

Pearson runs International GCSE in May/June and November. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026; June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those lead times are why resit planning precedes the first result.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

Diploma courses first. The notes say what the course demands of a tutor, which is the relevant question when deciding whether a local generalist will do.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The hardest Diploma course to staff locally in any Abu Dhabi community. Higher Level adds proof, complex numbers, vectors and substantially harder calculus, and Paper 1 is sat without a calculator, so a tutor needs the course rather than the mathematics.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Easier to staff, because statistics and modelling are more widely taught, but Higher Level carries matrices and graph theory that a generalist will not have met. Students who chose it as the lighter route need statistics support, not algebra support.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Scarce when tied to an internal assessment deadline, because the research-design conversation needs somebody who has supervised one. Organic mechanisms and energetics calculations decide most grades, and Higher Level Paper 3 rewards experimental reasoning over recall.

Physics

HL and SL

Reasonably available at Standard Level, thinner at Higher Level. The usual failure is mathematical rather than conceptual: a student who understands the physics and cannot rearrange quickly loses marks that algebra work recovers.

Biology

HL and SL

The most widely available of the sciences locally. Content is heavy and learnable independently, so paid hours are best spent on extended-response structure and on internal assessment design, where experimental errors cap the mark whatever the write-up looks like.

Theory of Knowledge

Core

Almost nobody advertises it and almost nobody teaches it, which makes it the second scarcest request after Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level. The exhibition and the prescribed-title essay are both assessed against published criteria and both routinely started far too late.

The Extended Essay

Core

Four thousand words of independent research with a school supervisor. Useful support is narrowing the research question, interrogating method and checking referencing. The writing is entirely the student's, which is a boundary worth confirming with any provider before you hire.

Economics

HL and SL

Available locally in reasonable numbers. Diagram accuracy and command-term discipline decide the grade, and Gulf-specific examples are legitimate and under-used by candidates in this region, which makes them a cheap source of marks.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 unseen analysis and the individual oral carry the course. The oral rewards a global issue that is genuinely arguable rather than merely current, and structure is far more teachable than reading taste.

Arabic B and Arabic ab initio

SL, and HL for Arabic B

Arabic as a first language is the scarcer request; Arabic B and ab initio are more findable. All of them reward short frequent practice over intensive blocks, and the oral component carries weight students discover late.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

And the IGCSE side of a dual-board household, where the syllabus code governs everything and the board question has to be settled before any revision set is built.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core and Extended, or Foundation and Higher

Widely available locally. Circle theorems, trigonometry with a drawn diagram and histograms with unequal class widths return marks fastest, and practice must come from the board the child is entered for.

Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Available at Core, thinner at Extended. Moles calculations and organic pathways decide the grade, and the paper rewards exact wording, so a student with the right idea and loose language is losing recoverable marks.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Electricity and electromagnetism cost the most marks, then uncertainty handling and graph gradients in the practical paper. Units and significant figures account for a surprising share of the rest.

Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core and Extended

The easiest science to find a tutor for and often the one that needs the fewest paid hours, because the content is learnable alone. Extended-response structure is the exception worth buying.

Coordinated Sciences (0654)

Double award

A scarce request, because the double award cuts specific sub-topics rather than simplifying everything, and a tutor working from the single-science syllabus wastes hours on content this course does not assess.

English as a Second Language (0510 / 0511)

Core and Extended

Widely available and the highest-yield English option for paid hours, since the exercises are formulaic and most of the gain sits in technique and timing rather than general language ability.

Business Studies (0450) and Economics (0455)

Single tier

Both assessed on application rather than recall, and both findable locally. Business Studies is entirely case-study driven, so practice has to use real inserts rather than definitions.

Arabic as a First Language (0508)

Single tier

One of the scarcest requests in the corridor, and a subject where KHDA's published guidance for Dubai schools requires teachers of Arabic to hold the authority's approval, which indicates how specialised the teaching is treated as being.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats cover most requests from these zones. All run over live video, with nobody travelling to a UAE address.

Scarce-course specialist, weekly

For the courses named on the scarcity map: a weekly hour with somebody who has taught that exact course to an examination, scheduled to Gulf Standard Time whatever their own time zone. Match times are longer for these and are stated before the trial rather than discovered afterwards.

  • Matched on the course taught most recently to an examination
  • Tutor's location and time zone stated before anything is booked
  • Longer match time disclosed up front, not hidden behind a quick yes
  • Slot timed to a mainland evening rather than the tutor's working day

Transition block between curricula

A short, bounded block for a student who has just moved between systems, aimed at the specific gap their previous curriculum left rather than at the subject generally. It ends when the gap closes, which is usually a matter of weeks and not terms.

  • Diagnosis of the gap in the first session, in writing
  • Fixed number of sessions with a stated end point
  • Paper technique and command terms before content, in most cases
  • Handover note the family can give the school

Coursework and component coaching

Bounded work on an internal assessment, Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge component or IGCSE coursework element, run against the published criteria and the school's internal dates. The tutor teaches criteria, questions method and marks drafts. The student writes every word.

  • Criteria and word or page limits confirmed before drafting begins
  • Research questions stress-tested against the level required
  • Drafts marked against descriptors with nothing rewritten
  • Referencing and data provenance checked before school submission

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Mohammed Bin Zayed City

01

The scarcity map, named rather than implied

No competitor page studied for this search discloses a coverage limit. Several route UAE parents to a foreign phone number without saying where teaching happens, and one shows a Dubai address on an Abu Dhabi page. The useful alternative is to publish the limit, because a family who knows which requests are hard can plan around it instead of discovering it in week four.

The courses below are scarce for reasons that have nothing to do with their difficulty. Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level is scarce because the number of people who have taught it to an examination is genuinely small everywhere. Theory of Knowledge is scarce because it is nobody's degree subject. Coordinated Sciences is scarce because the syllabus version determines half the content and most tutors have only taught the single sciences. Arabic as a first language is scarce because it is treated as a specialism by the regulators themselves.

What to do about each differs, and that is the point of naming them. Some are worth waiting a week for, because the alternative is paying twice for the same diagnosis. Some can be started with a narrower piece of work while the specialist frees up, such as paper technique or criteria coaching. Some are better served by a referral elsewhere, and saying so costs a provider a booking and saves a family a term. The table sets out which is which. Read the fallback column before the match-time column, because the fallback is the part that determines whether a wait costs you anything.

Transition gaps, mapped subject by subject

Transfers are routine in these communities, and the resulting difficulty is almost always specific rather than general. A student who moves systems does not become worse at a subject. They arrive missing one identifiable thing, and the useful work is naming it rather than restarting the subject. Families who get the diagnosis right spend weeks on it; families who do not spend terms.

The patterns repeat often enough to be predictable. Moving from an Indian or Ministry curriculum into IGCSE, the gap is structured question technique and showing working in a form that earns method marks, not content. Moving from MYP into IGCSE, it is terminal paper technique and timing. Moving from IGCSE into the Diploma, it is open-ended investigation, early calculus in mathematics, and the entirely unfamiliar genre of independent assessed writing. Moving from an American curriculum into the Diploma, it is the weight placed on internal assessment and the discipline of command terms.

The transition block should have a stated end. A tutor who diagnoses the gap in the first session, writes it down, works through it and then says the work is finished has done the job. One who converts a six-week transition into an indefinite weekly arrangement has quietly changed what you are buying. Ask for the diagnosis in writing and for a session count at the start, and ask for a short handover note at the end that you can give the school. A school that knows what was closed and what remains can pick the work up in class, which is free and often more effective than another paid hour.

Word and page limits, in one place

Assessed components carry limits, students routinely discover them late, and exceeding one is a self-inflicted loss that no amount of good content recovers. Collecting the limits into a single reference is the kind of thing almost no tutoring page bothers with, and it is among the most useful fifteen minutes a Diploma family can spend. Verify every figure against the current subject guide through your school's coordinator, because limits and guidance are revised and the school holds the governing version.

The ones that matter most are easy to remember. The Extended Essay is a maximum of four thousand words. The Theory of Knowledge essay is a maximum of sixteen hundred. The exhibition commentary is a maximum of nine hundred and fifty. The mathematical exploration is guided by a recommended page range rather than a hard word count, which students often read as having no limit at all, and then produce something unreadable that loses presentation and communication marks.

The practical discipline is to write to the limit from the first draft rather than cutting at the end. A student who drafts six thousand words for a four-thousand-word Extended Essay has to delete a third of their argument under deadline pressure, and what gets deleted is usually the analysis rather than the description, because description is easier to see as necessary. Planning to the limit is a structural decision made at the outline stage, and it is one of the few places where a tutor's intervention is both entirely legitimate and immediately worth money.

Ramadan and the shape of the UAE academic year

Revision planning in the UAE has a variable nobody outside the region accounts for. Ramadan moves roughly eleven days earlier each year against the Gregorian calendar, so its position relative to the school year shifts, and in some years it lands close to mock examinations or to internal assessment deadlines while in others it sits comfortably clear of both. A tutoring plan made in September without checking where Ramadan falls is a plan with a hole in it.

Schools in the UAE commonly shorten the day during the month, which changes the shape of the afternoon rather than freeing it: children are home earlier but the household rhythm shifts later, with evenings reorganised around Iftar. For a Mohammed Bin Zayed City family the practical consequence is that a 16:30 session may work better than usual for part of the month and that a post-Iftar slot is often the most productive hour available, provided it is agreed in advance rather than improvised weekly.

The other calendar features worth planning around are more stable. School examination weeks are better used for short reviews of just-sat papers than for new content. The long summer break is the cheapest time to close a transition gap, because nothing competes with it. And the weeks immediately after results arrive are when resit decisions have to be made quickly, which is why those decisions are better pre-agreed. Because nobody travels to a UAE address for these lessons, every one of those adjustments costs nothing to make.

05

The boundary, for a household running both boards

  • Nothing assessed is drafted, rewritten or edited to submission by a tutor
  • Criteria taught with their mark allocations before drafting begins
  • Official papers and schemes linked, never supplied as downloads
  • Marking done on the student's own attempt, with lost marks named in writing
  • Ask what a provider refuses to do before you ask what they charge

A dual-board family meets two different versions of the academic-honesty question, and both deserve a plain answer. On the Diploma side the exposure is large: internal assessments, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge components are all submitted as the student's own work, with declarations, and schools in this corridor run originality checks as routine. A malpractice finding falls on the candidate, not on whoever sold them the document.

At least one provider visible in UAE search results advertises completed Internal Assessments at a stated price. The honest description of that transaction is that the student takes all of the risk for a mark that may be withdrawn. No tutor may write, draft, rewrite or edit to submission any part of an assessed component, at any price, under any deadline pressure, and a provider who will not say that plainly has answered a question you did not have to ask twice.

On the IGCSE side the exposure moves to materials rather than writing. Past papers, mark schemes, syllabus documents and grade-boundary tables belong to the boards, and reproducing or distributing them as downloads is copyright infringement, with unreleased material carrying a malpractice exposure as well. A tutor should link the official source and mark your child's own attempt against the published scheme. What both sides share is a simple test: ask any provider what they will refuse to do, and listen to how quickly the answer arrives. Somebody who has thought about it answers in one sentence; somebody who has not starts explaining how flexible they can be, which is the answer in a different form.

06

Using one free hour as a test

  • Send the script or the criteria and dates before the hour, not after
  • Watch whether the tutor works from your material or a generic topic
  • Ask them to separate content, method and timing losses
  • Ask your child afterwards whether the explanation landed
  • Close with: what if the match is wrong, and what will you refuse to do

A free trial is only useful if you know what you are testing. Used well it answers three questions in sixty minutes that no profile, review or phone call can answer, and it costs nothing, takes no card details and creates no commitment. Used badly it becomes an introductory chat, and the family ends up making the decision on exactly the impressions they were trying to get past.

Send the material first: the marked script for an IGCSE student, or the criteria and the school's internal dates for a Diploma student, plus the course, level, board and code. Then watch for three things in the hour. Does the tutor work on something from that material rather than on a generic topic? Can they say which lost marks are content, which are method and which are timing? And does your child follow the explanation, which is a question only your child can answer and is worth asking them directly afterwards.

Finish by asking the two closing questions. What happens if the match is wrong, and what will you refuse to do. The first tells you whether a replacement costs anything. The second sorts a teaching service from the other kind. Three providers tested the same way in a week give you a genuine comparison, which is a better basis for a decision than a search radius and considerably quicker than driving around Abu Dhabi meeting people. Keep the written replies as well, because a provider who answers precisely before any money changes hands tends to keep answering precisely afterwards.

07

When a local tutor is the right answer

  • Local is right for young children and where a professional recommended it
  • For scarce courses, depth in the exact syllabus beats distance
  • Live video with a shared whiteboard loses little for academic subjects
  • Settle it with one free hour rather than with an argument in advance

This page has argued that proximity is the wrong primary filter, and that argument has limits worth stating. A young child who needs an adult physically present, a student for whom in-person support has been recommended by a professional, and a household with unreliable connectivity are all cases where a local tutor is correct and the travel premium is money well spent. Pretending otherwise would be selling rather than advising, and it would be obvious.

For the courses on the scarcity map, the calculation inverts. The specialist who has taught Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level or supervised a chemistry internal assessment is unlikely to live within a workable drive of these zones, and insisting that they do means taking a generalist instead. For an academic subject at this level, a shared whiteboard with the school's own worksheet open loses very little, and it gains the one thing that actually moves a grade.

The honest resolution is not an argument but a test. One free hour, structured as described above, settles it for your particular child in less time than it would take an in-home tutor to reach Mohammed Bin Zayed City from the Corniche. If the format does not work, you have learned that for nothing. If it does, the scarcity map stops being a constraint and becomes a list of courses you can now actually staff. That is the whole of the argument, and it rests on one free hour rather than on anything this page has claimed.

Where we tutor

What the search radius reaches from these zones

These are the communities a Mohammed Bin Zayed City search picks up as it widens, with what each one actually adds to the shortlist.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City zones

A large, curriculum-mixed population, so the Diploma cohort is spread across several schools and the local pool of Higher Level teaching is correspondingly thin.

Khalifa City

The nearest concentration of IB continuum provision. Its own demand absorbs the tutors based there before a mainland family reaches them.

Al Raha Gardens and Al Raha Beach

Established cohorts whose internal assessment deadlines fall at the same time as everyone else's, which is when the local pool tightens hardest.

Al Reef

Adds journey time in both directions and very few new specialists. This is the point where a widening radius costs more than it returns.

Al Bateen and Al Khalidiyah

Island schools and the base for many experienced tutors, reachable in person only by pricing two bridge crossings into every hour.

Saadiyat Island and Yas Island

The emirate's longest-established Diploma teaching and its highest rates, reached from the mainland by the longest journeys.

Al Reem Island

Central and dense, close to island schools. Tutors here reach the Corniche quickly and the mainland slowly, which is reflected in their quotes.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Mainland schools and the MBZ City corridor

The provision closest to these zones, spanning British-track IGCSE, Indian curriculum and Ministry curriculum schools alongside IB continuum options a short drive north. The mix is why dual-board households are normal rather than unusual here.

  • Abu Dhabi International School
  • Sunrise English Private School
  • Al Dhafra Private Schools
  • GEMS American Academy Abu Dhabi

Island and Saadiyat secondary

Where many students from these communities travel for Diploma and British-track secondary, and where most of the emirate's specialist teaching experience is concentrated.

  • Al Bateen Academy
  • Cranleigh Abu Dhabi
  • Brighton College Abu Dhabi

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say the course, level, board and code

For each child: Diploma course and level, or IGCSE board, code and tier. That is the filter that decides whether somebody can teach your child at all, and it is the step a near-me search skips completely.

  2. 02

Check the request against the scarcity map

If it names Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, Theory of Knowledge, Coordinated Sciences or Arabic as a first language, expect a longer match and plan for it. You will be told the realistic wait before anything is booked.

  3. 03

Send the right document per child

The marked mock script for an IGCSE student; the assessment criteria and the school's internal deadline calendar for a Diploma student. The two boards need different diagnostics, and sending the wrong one wastes the trial hour.

  4. 04

Use the free hour as a test

One hour over live video, no card details, no commitment, worked on your own material. Watch whether the tutor uses it, whether they can separate content from method from timing, and ask your child afterwards whether the explanation landed.

  5. 05

Agree the end point, not just the start

For a transition block, a session count and a written diagnosis. For a scarce-course arrangement, a four-session review. Arrangements without an end point are the ones nobody notices have stopped working.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

A published scarcity map

The courses that are hard to staff are named, with realistic match times and a sensible fallback for each. No competitor page studied for this market discloses a coverage limit at all, which means every family discovers it the expensive way.

Matched on the course taught most recently

The filter is which course a tutor has taught to an examination, not which subject they studied. For a dual-board household that means separate matches per child, because IGCSE paper technique and Diploma criteria work are different jobs.

Transition blocks with an end date

A gap left by a previous curriculum is diagnosed in writing, worked through in a stated number of sessions, and closed. Converting a six-week transition into an indefinite weekly arrangement changes what you are buying without telling you.

Component limits and criteria up front

Word and page limits are confirmed before drafting starts, from the current subject guide via the school. A student who plans to the limit at outline stage never has to delete a third of their argument under deadline pressure.

The calendar built in

Ramadan timing, examination weeks and internal assessment season are planned in advance rather than improvised, and every adjustment is free because nobody is travelling to a mainland address to begin with.

A stated refusal, and no claimed approval

Nothing assessed is drafted or edited to submission, official materials are linked rather than supplied, and IB Gram holds no accreditation or licence from ADEK, KHDA, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. All three are said before anybody asks.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Mohammed Bin Zayed City: your questions answered

Which subjects genuinely have no local tutor around MBZ City?+

In any single term, the thinnest are Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, Theory of Knowledge, Arabic as a first language, Coordinated Sciences 0654 and Edexcel-specific science codes where a family had assumed Cambridge. Extended-tier chemistry becomes scarce at internal assessment deadline season. None of that is about the area: these communities have a curriculum-mixed population, so the Diploma cohort is spread thinly between schools, and thin demand produces thin local supply. Mainstream IGCSE subjects and Applications and Interpretation at Standard Level are adequately covered locally.

What should I do if the course I need is on that scarce list?+

Three options, and which one applies depends on the course. Wait a week for the right specialist, which is usually cheaper than paying twice for the same diagnosis. Start with a narrower piece of work with another tutor in the meantime, such as paper technique or criteria coaching, so the time is not lost. Or take a referral elsewhere if the wait is unreasonable. What you should not accept is a fast general match presented as a specialist, because the gap surfaces in session four and the diagnostic hours get repeated.

How long is an IB Extended Essay allowed to be?+

A maximum of four thousand words. The Theory of Knowledge essay is capped at sixteen hundred, and the exhibition commentary at nine hundred and fifty. Verify all of these against the current subject guide through your school's coordinator, because guidance is revised and the school holds the governing version. The practical discipline is to plan to the limit at outline stage rather than cutting at the end, because a student deleting a third of a draft under deadline pressure almost always cuts analysis and keeps description, which is the wrong way round.

My child just moved from an Indian curriculum into IGCSE. What is the gap?+

Usually question technique rather than content. Students arriving from Indian or Ministry curriculum schools typically have strong procedural arithmetic and algebra and little experience of the structured multi-step question style an IGCSE paper uses, or of showing working in a form that earns method marks rather than simply reaching an answer. An explain question answered with a description earns a fraction of the credit however well the material is known. Four to six weeks of focused work closes it, and it is cheapest immediately after the move.

How does Ramadan change a revision plan in Abu Dhabi?+

It moves roughly eleven days earlier each Gregorian year, so in some years it sits close to mock examinations or internal assessment deadlines and in others it is clear of both. Schools commonly shorten the day, which reorganises the afternoon rather than freeing it, and household evenings reshape around Iftar. The productive move is to agree a revised slot before the month rather than during it, often post-Iftar, and to use the period for technique work rather than new content. None of those changes costs anything when nobody is travelling.

Is it worth starting Theory of Knowledge support at all?+

Yes, and earlier than most families do. Both components are assessed against published criteria, both reward a specific kind of argument that is unlike any other subject, and almost nothing in a student's other five subjects prepares them for it. The difficulty is supply: almost nobody advertises Theory of Knowledge because it is nobody's degree subject, so expect a longer match. Start with criteria coaching rather than content, because the most common cause of a weak essay is not understanding what the prescribed title is asking for.

Do I need one tutor or two for a Diploma child and an IGCSE child?+

Two, in almost every case, run as separate matches on one family schedule. IGCSE work is content coverage, board-specific paper technique and timing, measured against past papers. Diploma work is internal assessment design, criteria discipline and school internal deadlines. Somebody strong at one frequently has no useful opinion about the other, and hiring a single person because they live nearby is the specific error a near-me search encourages. Back-to-back slots on one evening give you the convenience without the compromise.

Why does the syllabus code matter so much?+

Because it determines the paper structure, the formula provision and the mark scheme, all of which differ between Cambridge and Pearson even where the content is nearly identical. A tutor matched to chemistry rather than to 0620 Extended or 4CH1 Higher will teach correct chemistry against the wrong question style, and the first visible symptom is a mock result that makes no sense given the hours invested. Confirm the code and tier in writing from the school and hand that answer to every provider you speak to.

Can a tutor write part of my child's internal assessment if we are out of time?+

No, at any price and under any deadline. Internal assessments, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge components are submitted as the student's own work with declarations, schools here run originality checks as routine, and a malpractice finding falls on the candidate rather than on whoever supplied the text. One provider in UAE search results sells completed Internal Assessments; the student carries all of that risk. What a tutor can legitimately do under time pressure is prioritise which criteria to rescue first.

What does ADEK actually do, and does it approve tutors?+

ADEK, the Department of Education and Knowledge, supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in Abu Dhabi, including Al Ain, and publishes inspection ratings for them. It does not approve, accredit or inspect private tutoring providers, and IB Gram holds no approval from ADEK, KHDA, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. Any provider claiming regulator approval for tutoring is making a claim worth checking carefully, because a KHDA educational services permit is a specific thing issued to training institutes with premises and is not what a tutoring platform holds.

How should I use the free trial hour to actually learn something?+

Send your material first: the marked script for an IGCSE student, or the criteria and the school's internal dates for a Diploma student, with the course, level, board and code. Then watch three things. Does the tutor work from that material or from a generic topic? Can they separate content losses from method losses from timing losses? And ask your child afterwards whether the explanation landed, because that is the one judgement nobody else can make. Finish with the two closing questions about replacement and refusal.

Is online tuition a compromise for a Diploma student?+

For an academic subject at this level, very little is lost. A shared whiteboard, the school's own worksheet and a marked script on screen cover what a desk covers, and the hour buys somebody who has taught the exact course rather than the nearest available graduate. The genuine exceptions are a child who needs an adult physically present, a case where in-person support has been professionally recommended, and unreliable connectivity. Test it with the free hour rather than deciding in advance; it settles faster than any argument about the format.

When should we book help for internal assessment season?+

A term before the school's internal deadline, not in the month of it. Every Diploma cohort in the corridor hits those dates at roughly the same time, so the specialists who can supervise a research design well are committed early and what remains in deadline month is whoever is free. Get the internal calendar in writing from your coordinator at the start of the year and work backwards from it. Topic choice is where most of the grade is decided, and it is the step that cannot be rescued later.

What if we try a tutor and my child simply does not warm to them?+

Say so in week one or two and take a replacement, which costs nothing and repeats the trial with somebody else. Rapport is not a soft consideration at this level: a student who will not ask a question in the session is paying for a monologue. The arrangements that waste the most money are the ones a family keeps out of politeness, cancels twice, and then abandons without explaining why. Each child's match is reviewed separately after four sessions, and changing one does not disturb the other.

Do you have tutors actually based in Abu Dhabi?+

Some tutors are in the UAE and some are not, and you are told which before the trial rather than after it. There is no IB Gram office, centre or branch in the UAE, and no page here will suggest one exists. What is guaranteed about scheduling is the time zone: sessions are timed to Gulf Standard Time so they fit a Mohammed Bin Zayed City evening rather than somebody else's working day. Two competitor pages studied for this market route UAE parents to a foreign number without saying any of that.

Name the course, check the map, test the hour

The useful answer to a search for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Mohammed Bin Zayed City is a list rather than a promise: mainstream subjects are adequately covered locally, and six or seven specific courses are not, whatever the radius. Say the course, level, board and code for each child, check it against the scarcity map, send the marked script or the school's internal dates, and use the free hour as a real test. Then decide on what your child actually followed.
