IB Maths Tutor in Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Families looking for an IB maths tutor in Mohammed Bin Zayed City usually ask the wrong question first. The question is not who is nearby, but who has taught this exact course to an examination. Four Diploma mathematics courses exist, they diverge sharply, and the mainland pool for the hardest of them is thin. IB Gram sends nobody to Abu Dhabi addresses. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so the filter becomes the course rather than the drive.

  • Three checks a tutor must pass before a Diploma match is offered
  • Topic depth mapped across all four courses, so the plan matches the paper
  • Calculator technique treated as a mark source, not an afterthought
  • One free trial hour over live video, with no card details requested

What it means for a tutor to actually know Diploma mathematics

Knowing mathematics and knowing a mathematics course are different qualifications, and the gap costs families money. There are four Diploma mathematics courses: Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, each at Higher and Standard Level. All four cover the same five topic areas, to sharply different depths, with different calculator rules and different paper structures. A capable graduate who has never taught one of them will handle the content and misread the examination.

Three abilities separate somebody who teaches the course from somebody who merely knows the subject. The first is knowing what each paper rewards and what it withholds, which is not obvious from the syllabus. The second is being able to look at a marked script and say whether a mark was lost to content, to invisible method, or to the clock, because each needs a different remedy. The third is being able to read a draft exploration against the five assessment criteria and name which criterion is about to cost the student marks.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City sits on the mainland with a large and curriculum-mixed population, and the Diploma cohort here is spread thin across several schools. The practical effect is that the number of local people who have taught Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level to an examination, in any given term, is small. Widening the search to Khalifa City or across to the island adds generalists and travel time. It does not reliably add anybody who has marked a Paper 3 investigation.

This page is organised to be useful whoever you hire. It maps how deep each of the four courses goes into each topic area, so a tutoring plan can be checked against the right syllabus. It sets out the calculator marks that disappear quietly in Paper 2. It counts the exploration backwards from a school internal deadline rather than forwards from a good intention. And it states what a tutor may and may not do with that exploration, because one provider visible in this market sells completed Internal Assessments and the consequence of buying one falls on the student.

On delivery there is no ambiguity. IB Gram does not operate home visits in Abu Dhabi, and visiting tutors are a service offered only in India. Every lesson for an MBZ City household is one-to-one over live video, on a shared whiteboard, timed to Gulf Standard Time so it fits around journeys that can run over an hour each way from the island schools. No IB examination or results dates appear here, because the IB's own site blocks automated verification and a wrong date acted on by a parent is worse than no date at all. Where a date matters, the school's IB coordinator is the source that governs, and this page points you there rather than guessing.

At a glance

  • Four DP mathematics courses: AA and AI, each at Higher and Standard Level
  • Five topic areas common to all four, covered to very different depths
  • AA Paper 1 is sat without a calculator; every AI paper permits one
  • Higher Level adds Paper 3 and roughly 90 extra taught hours
  • The exploration is marked out of 20 across criteria A to E in all four courses
  • School internal deadlines bind harder than anything the board publishes
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three programmes feed Diploma mathematics in the mainland corridor, and the route a student took determines which half of the course will give them trouble. These notes describe the starting point rather than the destination.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme mathematics

One mathematics course from four, taken over two years, with number and algebra, functions, geometry and trigonometry, statistics and probability, and calculus running through all of them. Higher Level carries roughly 240 taught hours against 150 at Standard Level, adds a third paper, and goes considerably further into every topic area rather than only into the obvious ones.

The school's internal deadline calendar is the document that governs a Diploma student's year, and it usually sits a full term ahead of what families assume. Ask the IB coordinator at your child's school for it in writing. It determines when exploration drafts are due, which is the constraint that most often turns an unhurried plan into an emergency in Year 13.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme mathematics

Criterion-referenced assessment graded 1 to 8, with extended and standard streams in the upper years. Students arrive in the Diploma comfortable with investigation and unfamiliar with the speed of manipulation that Analysis and Approaches assumes, because MYP credits the quality of reasoning more heavily than fluency under time pressure.

The MYP cohorts in this corridor are smaller than the British-track ones, so a student arriving in Year 12 from MYP is often the only one in their class with that background and their specific gap goes unnoticed in a room where most students have a different one. Naming it early is most of the work.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE and International GCSE mathematics

The most common feeder in these communities, taught as Cambridge 0580 Extended or Pearson Edexcel 4MA1 Higher, with Additional Mathematics 0606 available in some schools as a bridge. Extended or Higher tier is the realistic minimum for Analysis and Approaches at either level.

Students who completed 0606 arrive with most of the Analysis and Approaches entry gap already closed, which is the best single argument for taking it in Year 11 where a school offers it. Students who sat Core tier need honest advice rather than encouragement, and Applications and Interpretation at Standard Level is usually the realistic route.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Diploma mathematics is five bodies of content plus two skills that sit outside them. Tutoring is organised by whichever of these seven is failing, because work on one does nothing for the others.

Number and algebra

All four courses

Sequences, series, exponents and logarithms at every level, extending at Analysis and Approaches Higher Level into proof by induction and complex numbers. The topic where a weak IGCSE foundation surfaces first, usually as correct manipulation performed too slowly to finish a question.

Functions

All four courses

Transformations, composite and inverse functions, and graph interpretation. Marks go when a sketch was required before a calculation and the student calculated first, or when a domain restriction is ignored and a technically correct answer becomes invalid.

Geometry and trigonometry

All four courses

Identities, non-right-angled triangles and radian measure, extending to three-dimensional vectors at Analysis and Approaches Higher Level. Students memorise the identities and then cannot recognise which one a question is steering them towards, which is a pattern-recognition problem rather than a memory one.

Statistics and probability

All four courses

Central to Applications and Interpretation and lighter in Analysis and Approaches, covering distributions, correlation and regression, with hypothesis testing at Higher Level. Calculator competence matters more here than anywhere, and marks are withheld when output is reported without justification.

Calculus

All four courses

Differentiation and integration with applications, extending at Analysis and Approaches Higher Level into implicit differentiation, differential equations and series expansion. The heaviest content block in that course and the usual reason a capable student stalls in Year 13.

Paper 3 investigation technique

HL only

Two long structured problems in one hour at Higher Level, where an early slip contaminates later parts and nothing else in the course demands sustained reasoning on a single problem. Trainable, and almost universally under-practised before the examination itself.

The mathematical exploration

All four courses

Independent mathematical writing marked out of twenty against five criteria, with only six of those marks awarded for the mathematics being correct. Fourteen marks depend on presentation, communication, engagement and reflection, which is why strong mathematicians underperform here.

Calculator and toolkit fluency

All four courses

Knowing which function answers which question type, how to store and reuse values without transcription error, and how to show working that earns method marks when the value came from a screen. Quick to teach and worth several marks across every calculator paper.

Command terms and notation

All four courses

The difference between show that, find, justify and hence, and the notation conventions an examiner expects. Students lose marks for answering a different question from the one asked, which is a reading problem that responds to a few focused sessions.

Timing and question selection

All four courses

Deciding in the first minute whether a question is worth starting, and knowing when to abandon one and return. The most under-taught skill in the whole course, and the one that most often separates two students with identical knowledge.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Diploma mathematics support divides into three jobs with different rhythms and different costs. All three run over live video, with nobody travelling to a UAE address.

Course-tracking weekly hour

One fixed hour a week following the school's scheme of work rather than a parallel syllabus. Across two years the value compounds, because the tutor learns which topics the student reconstructs from first principles and which are memorised and brittle, and that knowledge is what makes the Year 13 revision plan accurate instead of generic.

  • Follows the school's sequence, using the school's own problem sets
  • Same tutor across both years wherever the schedule allows
  • Written note after each session naming topic and next target
  • Slot held through mock weeks rather than dropped and rebooked

Calculator and paper-technique block

Four to six sessions on the mechanical marks: calculator fluency, showing method when the value came from a screen, accuracy and rounding discipline, command-term reading, and question selection under time pressure. Cheap, fast and routinely skipped, which is why it returns more per hour than extra content for most students.

  • Starts from the marked script, targeting withheld rather than missing marks
  • Separate work for calculator and non-calculator papers
  • Ends each session with a timed section marked against the scheme
  • Repeatable before each mock without becoming a standing commitment

Exploration coaching to the school deadline

Work on the student's own exploration, planned backwards from the school's internal draft dates rather than from the examination. The tutor teaches the criteria, tests whether a topic can carry enough mathematics, questions method and marks drafts against descriptors. The student writes every word and performs every calculation.

  • Criteria A to E and their mark allocations taught before drafting starts
  • Topic choice stress-tested against criterion E's level requirement
  • Drafts marked against descriptors, with nothing rewritten by the tutor
  • Timeline built from the school's internal dates, not the exam window

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Mohammed Bin Zayed City

01

Three checks before you hire anybody

  • Script test: can they separate content, method and timing losses?
  • Course test: which paper has no calculator, and what is Paper 3 worth?
  • Criteria test: name criterion E and its marks, and the most-lost criterion
  • Ask what they will refuse to do on an exploration
  • Ask which course and level they taught most recently, and to what outcome

A credential tells you what somebody has studied. These three checks tell you whether they have taught the course your child is sitting, and each takes a few minutes. Run them on every provider you speak to, including this one, because a family who applies the same test three times gets a ranking instead of three sales pitches.

The first check is the script test. Send a marked mathematics paper and ask one question: which of these lost marks are content, which are method not shown, and which are the clock? Somebody who teaches the course will answer within a minute and name specific questions. Somebody who does not will talk about carelessness and concentration. The distinction matters because content gaps need teaching, invisible method needs a four-second habit, and timing needs question-selection practice, and the three remedies have almost nothing in common.

The second check is the course test. Ask which paper is sat without a calculator and in which of the four courses, then ask what Paper 3 is, who sits it and what it is worth. The third is the criteria test: ask them to name criterion E of the exploration and its mark allocation, and to say which criterion students most often lose marks on. Any Diploma mathematics teacher answers all three instantly. A tutor who assembles the answers in front of you is learning the course on your money, and that is a reasonable thing to decline.

02

How deep each course goes into each topic

All four Diploma mathematics courses cover the same five topic areas, which is why a syllabus comparison at the heading level looks almost identical and tells you nothing. The depth is where they separate, and a tutoring plan built on the wrong depth either wastes hours on content that will not be assessed or leaves a gap that surfaces in the paper. Checking the plan against the right level is a ten-minute job at the start of an arrangement and saves a term.

The broad pattern is this. Analysis and Approaches goes deepest in calculus and algebra, adding proof, complex numbers and vectors at Higher Level, while keeping statistics relatively contained. Applications and Interpretation goes deepest in statistics and modelling, adding matrices and graph theory at Higher Level, and treats calculus more lightly and more applied. Both Standard Level courses are genuinely narrower rather than merely easier, which matters when a tutor arrives with Higher Level material and the student is not sitting it.

The practical test for a parent is to ask a tutor to name one topic their plan deliberately excludes, and why. Somebody working from the correct syllabus will give you a specific answer: no induction because that is Higher Level Analysis and Approaches only, no graph theory because that is Applications and Interpretation Higher Level. Somebody working from a general idea of Diploma mathematics will not be able to exclude anything, which is the clearest sign that the plan has not been built against your child's actual course.

03

The calculator marks that disappear quietly

Of all the mark losses on a Diploma mathematics paper, the cheapest to fix are the ones where the answer was right. They happen in calculator papers, which means every Applications and Interpretation paper and Analysis and Approaches Papers 2 and 3. A student solves something on screen, writes the result, and collects the answer mark while the method marks go unawarded because the examiner cannot see what was done. On a multi-part question the method marks are often the larger share.

The remedy is a habit rather than knowledge: write the equation being solved, or the integral being evaluated, before producing the value. It takes a few seconds and it is the single highest-return change available to most candidates. Alongside it sit three more mechanical disciplines. Round once, at the end, to the accuracy the question specifies. Store intermediate values in the calculator rather than retyping them, because transcription is where silent errors enter. And check that the calculator is in the right angle mode before a trigonometry question, not after it.

This block of work takes four to six sessions and is routinely skipped in favour of more content, which is why it stays available as an easy gain for so long. It is also measurable: take a marked script, count the marks withheld on questions where the final answer was correct, and that number is the ceiling on what technique work can recover. For many students it is larger than the number of marks lost to genuinely unknown content, and nobody has ever mentioned it to them.

The exploration, counted backwards from the school's deadline

The exploration fails on timing far more often than on mathematics. It is worth twenty per cent of the grade in all four courses, marked out of twenty across five criteria, and the deadline that governs it is set by the school rather than by the board. Families who plan from the examination window are planning from the wrong end, and they discover the school's internal draft date several weeks after it would have been useful to know it.

Counted backwards, the sequence is reasonably stable. Submission to the school sits at the end. Before that, a final draft the student has revised after feedback. Before that, a first complete draft, which is the version a tutor can usefully mark against the descriptors. Before that, the mathematics has to be done, which usually takes longer than expected because the first approach frequently fails. Before that, the data or the mathematical context has to be secured. And at the start, the topic has to be chosen and tested for whether it can carry mathematics at the course level.

That last step is where most of the eventual grade is decided and where almost no time is spent. A topic that cannot generate mathematics at the right level caps criterion E regardless of how well the piece is written, and no amount of later coaching rescues it. Asking a tutor to stress-test a topic before any work starts is cheap, fast and the highest-value hour in the whole project. Get the school's internal dates in writing from the coordinator first, because everything else is scheduled from them.

Higher Level when Standard would have served

A recurring and expensive decision in this corridor is taking mathematics at Higher Level for a degree that never required it. Higher Level carries roughly 240 taught hours against 150 at Standard, adds a third paper worth twenty per cent of the grade, and goes substantially further into every topic area. For a student heading into engineering, mathematics or physics, that is the correct and necessary load. For a student heading into business, design or most social sciences, it is a large tax on five other subjects.

The symptom appears in Year 13 and looks like a mathematics problem. The student's grades fall across several subjects at once, because the Higher Level mathematics workload is absorbing the time the other five subjects needed, and the exploration is late because there was never a free fortnight to do it properly. Tutoring at that point is firefighting, and a tutor who tells you the honest answer, which is that the level is wrong rather than the teaching, is more useful than one who sells more hours.

The decision point is at course selection and again, in most schools, at the end of the first Diploma year, when a move from Higher to Standard within the same route is usually possible. The test is to read the published entry requirements for three or four target universities, including UAE institutions, and see what they actually name. Where a programme requires Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, the load is unavoidable. Where it does not, Standard Level plus five properly supported subjects almost always produces a better total score.

Who is permitted to tutor your child here

  • Ask directly whether the tutor holds a current MoHRE private tuition work permit
  • The permit is granted free of charge for two years and attaches to the individual
  • No fine amounts are published, so treat any quoted figure as unverified
  • ADEK ethics rules bar tutoring students enrolled at the tutor's own school
  • IB Gram holds no approval from ADEK, KHDA, the IB or any board, and says so

Private tutoring in the UAE requires a permit, and a near-me search returns names rather than permissions. Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 introduced the MoHRE private tuition work permit, granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged fifteen to eighteen. Anyone tutoring without a permit is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws.

No fine schedule is published, so no amount appears on this page; a figure circulating online could not be verified against an official source and has been deliberately left out. MoHRE's own service page for the permit lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through its smart app, website or e-services system. The permit attaches to the individual, which means no platform can hold it on a tutor's behalf, and a tutor who holds one can simply say so when asked.

There is a second rule specific to this emirate. ADEK's professional-ethics requirements for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the teacher's own school. That is press-reported rather than quoted from the policy document, so verify it against the current ADEK text. The principle holds either way: the person who marks your child's school assessment should not be paid privately to prepare them for it.

07

What a tutor may never do with an exploration

  • Nothing drafted, rewritten or edited to submission by anybody but the student
  • Criteria taught with their mark allocations before drafting begins
  • Techniques modelled on different data so they transfer rather than copy
  • Drafts marked against descriptors, naming the criterion at risk
  • Ask any provider what they refuse to do; the answer sorts teaching from selling

The exploration must be the student's own work, and that is not a formality. It is submitted with a declaration, schools in this corridor run originality checks as routine, and a piece that reads nothing like a student's class work is noticed. Malpractice findings fall on the candidate rather than on whoever sold them the document. At least one provider visible in UAE search results advertises completed Internal Assessments at a stated price, and the honest description of that transaction is that the student carries all of the risk.

No tutor may write, draft, rewrite or edit to submission any part of an exploration, an Extended Essay, a Theory of Knowledge essay or any assessed coursework. That restriction holds regardless of deadline pressure, regardless of what a family is willing to pay, and regardless of how small the requested contribution sounds. A paragraph written by somebody else is still work that is not the student's own.

What remains is substantial and is the thing worth buying. Teaching what each criterion credits and how many marks it carries. Stress-testing a topic before weeks are invested in it. Questioning a method until the student finds the weakness themselves. Modelling an analytical technique on entirely different data so it transfers rather than being copied. Marking a draft against the descriptors and naming the criterion at risk. Checking that referencing and data provenance will survive scrutiny. All of that moves marks legitimately, and all of it leaves the work demonstrably the student's.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Diploma mathematics demand is unevenly spread across the mainland, and knowing the pattern explains why a local search behaves the way it does.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City zones

A large population with a curriculum mix weighted away from the IB, so the Diploma cohort is spread thinly across several schools and the local pool of Higher Level teaching is correspondingly small.

Khalifa City

The nearest concentration of IB continuum provision, which absorbs the tutors who live in that corridor before a mainland family reaches them.

Al Raha Gardens and Al Raha Beach

Established Diploma cohorts with their own demand peaks around internal deadlines, which fall at roughly the same time as everybody else's.

Al Reef

Shares the airport-road corridor and the same long return journeys, and is routinely told that no Higher Level tutor covers the area. That is true of in-home tutors and irrelevant online.

Al Bateen and Al Khalidiyah

Island destinations for several Diploma schools and the base for many experienced tutors, which is why mainland in-home quotes include a bridge crossing in each direction.

Yas Island and Saadiyat Island

Where the emirate's longest-established Diploma teaching sits, reached from the mainland by the longest journeys and the highest rates.

Al Reem Island

Dense, central and close to island schools, so tutors based here can reach the Corniche quickly and the mainland slowly.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Name the course and level

Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, or Applications and Interpretation at Standard, plus the school. Those words decide which tutors are candidates and which syllabus depth the plan should be built against, and getting them wrong is the most common cause of a wasted first month.

  2. 02

Send a marked paper and run the script test

Ask which lost marks are content, which are method not shown, and which are the clock. The answer tells you whether the person has taught the course, and it also produces the plan, because those three problems need three unrelated remedies.

  3. 03

Get the school's internal dates in writing

The exploration is scheduled from the school's draft deadlines rather than the examination window. Ask the IB coordinator for the calendar, because every sensible plan for Year 12 and 13 is counted backwards from those dates.

  4. 04

    Take the free trial hour

One hour over live video, no card details and no commitment, working a problem your child is currently stuck on. You are testing explanation and syllabus knowledge together, which no profile or review can tell you in advance.

  5. 05

Set the weekly hour, then review at four

One reliable hour, placed after the real arrival time rather than the school bell, with density added before internal deadlines. After four sessions, compare against the paper that started the plan and change something if the marks have not moved.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Checked against the right syllabus depth

The plan is built for one of four courses, and a tutor can name which topics it deliberately excludes and why. A plan that excludes nothing has not been built against your child's actual course, which is the quickest way to tell a real plan from a generic one.

Withheld marks chased before new content

Marks lost on questions where the answer was right are the cheapest to recover: write the equation before the screen value, round once, store rather than retype. Four to six sessions of this usually beats the same hours spent on further content.

Exploration planned from school dates

The timeline runs backwards from the school's internal draft deadlines, not the examination window, and topic choice is stress-tested before any work begins. A topic that cannot reach the course level caps criterion E whatever happens later.

Honest about the level

Where Higher Level is costing a student five other subjects for a degree that never required it, that gets said. Ninety extra taught hours and a third paper are the correct load for some students and a serious tax on others.

A published boundary on assessed work

Nothing is drafted, rewritten or edited to submission. Criteria are taught, topics tested, methods questioned, drafts marked against descriptors. One provider in this market sells finished Internal Assessments; the student carries that risk alone.

No claim of approval by anybody

IB Gram holds no accreditation, licence or partnership from ADEK, KHDA, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and no page here will suggest otherwise. Regulators are explained with their published remits and sources instead.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Mohammed Bin Zayed City: your questions answered

How can I check that a maths tutor really knows the Diploma course?+

Run three quick tests. Send a marked paper and ask which lost marks are content, which are method not shown, and which are the clock; a course teacher answers in a minute and names questions. Ask which paper is sat without a calculator and in which of the four courses, and what Paper 3 is worth. Ask them to name criterion E of the exploration and its mark allocation. All three answers arrive instantly from somebody who teaches the course and get assembled in front of you by somebody who does not.

Why does it matter which of the four maths courses my child takes?+

Because they share five topic headings and diverge underneath them. Analysis and Approaches goes deepest in algebra and calculus, adding proof, complex numbers and vectors at Higher Level, and keeps statistics contained. Applications and Interpretation is built on statistics and modelling, adding matrices and graph theory at Higher Level. Calculator rules differ too: AA Paper 1 is sat without one. A tutor working from the wrong course either teaches content that will not be assessed or leaves a gap that surfaces in the paper.

What are the easiest marks to recover in Diploma mathematics?+

The ones already nearly earned. Take a marked calculator paper and count the marks withheld on questions where the final answer was correct: that number is what technique work can recover. The usual causes are writing an answer straight from the calculator screen with no visible method, rounding at an intermediate step, retyping a previous result instead of storing it, and answering to the wrong accuracy. Four to six sessions on those habits typically returns more than the same hours spent on new content.

How early does exploration work have to begin to stay calm?+

Ten to fourteen weeks before the school's internal submission deadline, starting with topic choice rather than with mathematics. Get the school's draft dates in writing from the IB coordinator first, because the exploration is governed by those rather than by the examination window. The topic has to be tested for whether it can generate mathematics at the course level, since a topic that cannot caps criterion E permanently. Securing data, completing the mathematics, a first full draft and a revised draft then fill the remaining weeks.

Which part of the exploration costs MBZ City students most?+

Reflection and personal engagement, between them, because both are assumed to be decorative. Criterion D rewards genuine critical interrogation of method and results, and most students supply one paragraph at the end saying the work was interesting. Criterion C rewards evidence of real individual involvement, which a topic chosen from a list cannot demonstrate. Criterion E, use of mathematics, carries six of the twenty marks and is the only one about the mathematics being right, so fourteen marks sit elsewhere entirely.

Is Higher Level mathematics worth the extra workload?+

Only if a target programme requires it. Higher Level carries roughly 240 taught hours against 150 at Standard, adds a third paper worth twenty per cent, and goes deeper in every topic. For engineering, mathematics or physics that is necessary. For business, design and most social sciences it is ninety hours taken from five other subjects, and the usual symptom is grades falling across several subjects in Year 13. Read the published entry requirements for three or four universities before treating the level as settled.

Can my child move down from Higher to Standard Level?+

Within the same route, most schools allow it, commonly at the end of the first Diploma year, though the decision belongs to the school and depends on timetabling. Moving between Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation after teaching has started is considerably harder, because the courses differ in content rather than depth. Raise it early with the coordinator if it is being considered. The same conversation in the second year, with an exploration outstanding, rarely ends well for anybody.

What is the honest reason a local Higher Level tutor is hard to find?+

Numbers. Mohammed Bin Zayed City has a large, curriculum-mixed population, so the Diploma cohort is spread thinly across several schools, and the subset of local people who have taught Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level to an examination in any given term is small. Widening the search to Khalifa City or the island adds generalists and travel time rather than course depth. Online delivery changes the filter to who has taught the course, which is the thing that was actually scarce.

Does a tutor need a permit to teach my child in Abu Dhabi?+

Yes. The MoHRE private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers school teachers, government and private sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged fifteen to eighteen. Tutoring without one brings fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no figure appears here. Ask the tutor directly, because the permit belongs to the individual and no platform can hold it for them.

How many hours a week should a Diploma maths student have?+

One reliable hour, for most students, across both years, with short bursts of density before the school's internal exploration deadline and in the weeks before the session. A Diploma student is already carrying several hours of work a night across six subjects plus the core, and two sessions a week usually produces two tired hours rather than one alert one. Increase the frequency when there is something concrete to work on, such as a marked mock or a draft, rather than as a general precaution.

Can one tutor cover Higher Level maths and physics together?+

It is a sensible pairing and worth asking about, because weak algebra usually appears in physics before anybody connects the two. A tutor holding both can tell you whether a physics problem failed on the physics or on the rearrangement, which saves a diagnostic session. Ask which of the two they have taught most recently to an examination rather than which they are comfortable with. Pairings that rarely work are a science with a language, where the teaching skill is genuinely different.

What happens to lessons during school examination weeks?+

A short review beats a pause, usually. Examination weeks produce the most immediate evidence of what is failing, and thirty minutes going over a paper that was sat yesterday is worth more than a full hour of new content. There is no rolling term to exit and no fee attached to a break if you prefer one, and because nobody is travelling to an MBZ City address the slot can be resumed in its original place without anybody rearranging a journey across the mainland.

How long does a Higher Level match take from these communities?+

Applications and Interpretation at either level and Analysis and Approaches at Standard Level usually match within a few days. Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level can take a week or more, and it tightens sharply around school internal deadlines when every Diploma cohort in the corridor needs the same help at once. Where the specialist is based outside the UAE that is said before the trial, and the session is scheduled to Gulf Standard Time so it fits a mainland evening rather than somebody else's working day.

Can a tutor tell me what score my child will get?+

No, and an answer to that question is a reason for caution. Nobody can guarantee a grade, and no page here publishes one. What a tutor can do is tell you, from a marked script, which specific marks are recoverable and roughly how much work each one represents, which is a more useful answer than a predicted number. No tutor and no platform can promise a score, an improvement or a refund tied to a result, so a provider offering one is describing an outcome outside their control.

Does the exploration have to use real data?+

Not necessarily, and this is a common misconception that narrows topic choice unhelpfully. A purely theoretical exploration can reach the top of criterion E if the mathematics is at the course level and genuinely explored rather than recited. What matters is whether the topic can generate mathematics at the right depth and whether the student can demonstrate real engagement with it. Where data is used, its provenance has to be clear and the analysis has to be the student's own, which is worth settling before weeks are spent collecting anything.
