IGCSE Home Tutor in Mohammed Bin Zayed City

An IGCSE home tutor in Mohammed Bin Zayed City is competing with the longest school runs in the emirate. Children here travel out to schools across the mainland and onto the island, buses arrive late, and a tutor driving in from Khalidiyah reaches the door after concentration has gone. IB Gram operates no home visits anywhere in the UAE. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, so the hour begins when your child is ready rather than when the road clears.

  • Slots from 16:15 or after 20:00, chosen around your actual bus route
  • Matched to the syllabus code and tier, not to the subject name
  • Nine-subject weeks triaged by where the marks are, not by anxiety
  • One free trial hour over live video, with no card details requested

IB & IGCSE in Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Nine subjects, a long commute, and one usable hour: planning IGCSE support in MBZ City

Mohammed Bin Zayed City is a large grid of residential zones on the mainland, and the school run out of it goes in several directions at once. Some children travel a few minutes to a school inside the community. Others go out towards Khalifa City and Al Raha, and a significant number cross onto the island for British-track secondary. The bus that serves three zones before it reaches yours is the single biggest variable in whether a tutoring arrangement survives a term.

The second variable is subject count. A Year 11 student here is commonly entered for eight to ten IGCSE subjects. That is a different planning problem from a Diploma student with six, because the family cannot buy support for all of it and should not try. Parents who book maths, physics and chemistry simultaneously in October generally run out of both money and child before the series arrives. The useful work is triage: three subjects where paid hours change the grade, and a plan for the rest that does not involve paid hours at all.

Those two variables interact badly with in-home delivery. A tutor driving to MBZ City from Khalidiyah or Al Reem Island has to leave before the traffic builds, which fixes the slot at a time your child may not be home, and it prices the journey into the hour. Market figures for in-home one-to-one in Abu Dhabi run AED 180 to 350 an hour in Bestimate's 2026 UAE survey, with independents reaching AED 500, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online subject tutor. The gap is the drive.

Online delivery does not shorten the commute, but it stops the commute determining the timetable. A household whose child is home by 15:50 can hold a 16:15 slot. A household on a long route towards the island can hold a slot after 20:00 and keep it, because moving a session to the next evening costs nobody a journey. Both windows are available at the same rate, which is not true when somebody has to arrive.

This page is built around those practicalities. It sets out the realistic session windows from an MBZ City address, a triage method for a nine-subject week, what the November series is actually for and how to decide a resit before the first result lands, the mandatory Arabic and Islamic Education lessons that compete for the same evenings, and the Cambridge zone timetable rule that catches families every year. IB Gram does not sell home visits in Abu Dhabi; visiting tutors are a service offered only in India, and that position is identical on every country page we publish. What arrives at your child's desk is a shared whiteboard with their own worksheet open on it, not a car at the gate, and the practical consequence is that a slot can move without anybody rebuilding a route across the mainland.

At a glance

  • Year 11 students here commonly sit eight to ten IGCSE subjects; support three, not nine
  • The two workable windows from MBZ City are roughly 16:15–17:15 and after 20:00
  • In-home rates in Abu Dhabi: AED 180–350, independents to AED 500 (Bestimate, 2026)
  • Qualified online subject tutor: AED 150–300; the difference is travel
  • Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six zones with different timetables
  • UAE candidates sit June and November; the February/March series is offered in India only

Three routes produce the IGCSE cohort across the mainland communities, and each arrives in Year 10 with a different foundation. Knowing which one a child came through tells you more than their current percentage does.

Cambridge IGCSE

The dominant route in this corridor, assessed by terminal written papers with syllabus codes that govern everything: 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0654 Coordinated Sciences, 0500 First Language English, 0510 English as a Second Language. Most subjects tier into Core and Extended, which changes the available grade range and the content, not merely the difficulty of the questions.

Each exam centre is allocated to one of six Cambridge administrative zones, and Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone timetable. The version that governs your child is the one their school publishes. Build revision from that document, not from a timetable found through a general search, because clash days differ between zones.

EDEXCELAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Taught alongside Cambridge in several schools serving these communities, with codes including 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1 and 4BI1, tiered Foundation and Higher. Paper structure, question phrasing and formula provision all differ from Cambridge, so past-paper practice from the other board teaches the content in the wrong format.

Pearson runs International GCSE in May/June and November. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026; June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students the next day, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those lead times are why a resit has to be planned before the first result arrives.

Transfers into IGCSE from other systems

Mohammed Bin Zayed City has a high share of mid-school transfers, often from Indian or Ministry curriculum schools into British-track provision. The arriving student usually has strong procedural mathematics and little experience of extended written answers, command terms or the style of structured science questions that an IGCSE paper uses.

That gap is specific and closes faster than families expect, provided it is named. The work is command terms, answer structure and paper technique rather than content, and the cheapest time to do it is the term after the transfer. Left until Year 11, it competes with revision for the same evenings and costs considerably more.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

With eight to ten subjects on a timetable, the question is not which subjects matter but which respond to paid hours. These notes say what each subject actually rewards, so triage can be done on evidence rather than on which teacher sent the most worrying email.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core and Extended, or Foundation and Higher

Responds strongly to tutoring because the lost marks are diagnosable per topic. Circle theorems, trigonometry with a drawn diagram and histograms with unequal intervals are compact and reliably examined, so they return more marks per hour than general revision.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Responds well, and usually for mathematical reasons rather than conceptual ones. Electricity and electromagnetism cost the most marks; after that it is uncertainty handling and graph gradients in the practical paper, plus units and significant figures.

Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Moles calculations and organic pathways decide the grade and both are teachable in a short block. The paper also rewards exact wording, so a student with the right idea and loose language is losing marks that precision recovers quickly.

Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Often the lowest-priority science for paid hours, because the content is learnable independently. The exception is extended-response structure on transport, homeostasis and inheritance, which is a short, high-value piece of teaching.

Coordinated Sciences (0654)

Double award

Three sciences in a double award, with specific sub-topics cut rather than everything simplified. A tutor working from the single-science syllabus wastes hours on content this course does not assess, so the syllabus version has to be confirmed first.

First Language English (0500)

Single tier

Responds to technique rather than reading. Directed writing and the extended reading response carry the paper, and marks go to candidates who address audience, form and purpose explicitly, which the mark scheme credits and most students ignore.

English as a Second Language (0510 / 0511)

Core and Extended

The highest-yield English option for paid hours, because the exercises are formulaic and highly trainable. Most of the available improvement sits in exam technique and timing rather than in general language ability.

Economics (0455) and Business Studies (0450)

Single tier

Both assessed on application. Business Studies is entirely case-study driven, so practice must use real inserts. Students who revise definitions collect the smallest share of available marks and are often surprised by the mock.

Computer Science (0478)

Single tier

Splits into theory and a practical programming element, and students are usually strong in one and weak in the other. Identifying which half is failing takes one session and determines whether paid hours are worth spending at all.

Arabic as a Foreign Language (0544)

Single tier

Mandatory alongside any licensed curriculum in UAE private schools, and a subject where consistent short practice beats intensive blocks. It competes directly for the same evening hours that pre-examination science revision needs.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats cover IGCSE support in this corridor, and the choice is usually dictated by the journey rather than the budget. All three run over live video, with nobody travelling to a UAE address.

Afternoon slot for short routes

A fixed hour between 16:15 and 17:15, available to households whose child is home by around 16:00. It is the most productive hour of the day for teaching something new, because the school lesson is still fresh and the tutor can work from the day's worksheet rather than a general plan.

  • Best window for first teaching rather than revision
  • Runs on the day's class material while it is still current
  • Needs a predictable route, not an optimistic estimate
  • Held across the term, including through school examination weeks

Late evening slot for long routes

After 20:00, for children travelling to island or Yas Island schools. The content has to be chosen for a tired hour: past-paper sections, circle theorems, moles calculations with a worked example on screen, exam timing drills. New material does not belong here and booking it is why evening arrangements get abandoned in month two.

  • Technique and past papers rather than first teaching
  • Each session closes with a short timed section
  • Holds reliably because no journey is involved on either side
  • Moves to the following evening without cost when the week collapses

Triage block across three subjects

For nine-subject weeks: a short diagnostic block covering the three subjects where marks are most recoverable, then a decision about which single subject keeps a weekly slot. It costs less than three parallel arrangements and usually produces a better outcome, because it stops the family funding anxiety rather than need.

  • One session per subject against the marked mock script
  • Written ranking of where paid hours will and will not pay back
  • Clear advice on which subjects to leave alone entirely
  • Converts into one or two ongoing weekly slots, not three

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Mohammed Bin Zayed City

01

What the MBZ City commute does to a four o'clock session

Start from the bus, not the bell. Secondary schools serving these communities finish somewhere between 14:45 and 15:30, but a route that collects several Mohammed Bin Zayed City zones completes considerably later than that, and the last stop on a route can be forty minutes behind the first. Children travelling to island schools are in traffic in the returning direction at the worst time of the afternoon. A realistic home-arrival range across the community is 15:45 to 17:15, depending almost entirely on where in the grid you live.

That single fact explains most failed tutoring arrangements here. A family books 16:00 because it sounds right, the child is home at 16:40 for half of the term, the session runs short or late twice, and by the third cancellation the arrangement has effectively ended. The fix is to measure before booking: note actual arrival times for a week, then set the slot thirty minutes after the latest of them, or give up on the afternoon and take the evening window instead.

In-home delivery cannot flex around this. A tutor driving from the Corniche or Al Reem Island has to leave early enough to arrive, which fixes their availability to a single slot in the community, and the economics require them to fill it. Online, both windows exist at one rate, and a session that misses its start can move to the next evening without anybody recalculating a route. For a community with the journey profile of MBZ City, that flexibility is worth more than any individual tutor's reputation.

Triaging a nine-subject week

A Year 11 student entered for nine subjects cannot be tutored in nine subjects, and attempting it produces a tired child and an exhausted budget by February. Triage is the skill, and it is done on evidence rather than on which department has sent the most concerned email. The raw material is the set of marked mock scripts, which almost every family has and almost nobody reads carefully across subjects at the same time.

Rank the subjects on three questions. First, how far is the current mark from the target, in grade boundaries rather than percentages? A subject two marks below a boundary is a better investment than one twenty marks below. Second, is the loss diagnosable per topic, or is it spread evenly across the paper? Concentrated losses respond to tutoring; evenly spread losses usually mean the content was never learned and need a different remedy. Third, does the subject reward technique? English as a Second Language and mathematics do, strongly. Biology rewards independent learning more than paid hours.

The output should be a short written ranking: one or two subjects with a weekly slot, one or two with a short block and then nothing, and the rest left alone with a revision plan the student runs themselves. That is an uncomfortable conversation, because it means deciding that a subject will land where it lands. It is also the difference between a budget that changes three grades and one that changes none, and it is a conversation worth having in October rather than in April.

What the November series is actually for

Most UAE families treat the June series as the examination and November as a failure route, which wastes a genuinely useful option. Cambridge runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level in a June series and a November series, and Pearson runs International GCSE in May/June and November. Both are full sittings. A student can be entered for a subject in November deliberately, to spread an unmanageable nine-subject load across two sittings rather than taking everything at once.

The resit case is also better handled early than late. Pearson's documented timings show why: June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. By the time a June result arrives, a November entry decision has to be made quickly, and the student has been out of the subject for the whole summer. Families who decide in advance what result would trigger a November entry handle that week far better than families who start the conversation when the envelope opens.

One thing to be clear about: the February and March series is offered to India only. UAE candidates do not sit it, and any revision plan or tutoring package built around a spring sitting is built on another country's calendar. If a provider offers you a February entry for a child in Abu Dhabi, that is a reason to stop the conversation. Check your child's own exam centre's zone timetable, because clash dates and session windows differ between Cambridge's six administrative zones.

Arabic, Islamic Education and the week that is already full

Any honest plan for an MBZ City week has to account for the mandatory UAE subjects, which no competitor page in this market mentions. Private schools in the UAE are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations. That federal baseline is why an international timetable in Abu Dhabi carries lessons a British timetable elsewhere does not, and why the evening has less room than parents assume.

Dubai's regulator publishes the most detailed public account of how this is organised, and although KHDA's guidance governs Dubai schools, the structure it describes is the one families meet across the country. Schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, with combined classes prohibited because curriculum expectations and the language of instruction differ. Instructional time is calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit, with the advice that a mandatory subject lesson should run at least twenty-five minutes.

The consequence for planning is direct. After-school Arabic or Quran classes commonly occupy exactly the window a family had earmarked for maths, and Arabic itself rewards short, frequent practice rather than the intensive blocks that work for pre-examination science. Map the whole week before booking anything. Households that do this find one window that holds for a term; households that book the science slot first are renegotiating by week three, and renegotiated slots are the ones that quietly disappear.

Where the money goes, cheapest option first

Begin at the bottom of the market rather than the top, because that is where most families actually start. Budget online platforms advertise from AED 33 to 52 an hour at Tutopiya and AED 45 to 65 at EdFlik. Those rates buy a capable university student and are genuinely useful for homework accountability and keeping a reluctant student working. They are not useful for moving a grade boundary in Extended chemistry, and families who try tend to conclude that tutoring does not work rather than that they bought the wrong thing.

The next step is a qualified subject tutor working online, at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Above that sit IGCSE and A-Level specialists at AED 200 to 450 or more, with TutorChase quoting AED 270 and Bestimate's survey reaching AED 450 and beyond. Premium named tutors go higher again, with BartyED at AED 650. In-home delivery sits across the middle of that range with the journey added: AED 180 to 350 in Bestimate's survey, independents to AED 500.

For an MBZ City household the practical reading is simple. A budget platform for accountability plus one mid-band specialist hour on the single subject that matters usually beats three in-home hours at the same total spend, and it survives the commute better. None of these figures is an IB Gram price list; they are what the market publishes, with sources attached so you can check them. Our own quote follows the free trial lesson, because a rate quoted before anybody has met your child is a guess with a number on it.

The honesty boundary, stated before you ask

  • No assessed component drafted, written or edited to submission by a tutor
  • Official papers and mark schemes linked, never reproduced or supplied
  • Marking against the published scheme, with written feedback naming the lost marks
  • Command-term teaching, so an explain question is not answered with description
  • Ask any provider what they refuse to do before you ask what they charge

IGCSE carries less independent coursework than the Diploma, but the boundary still matters and it is tested earlier than families expect. Some subjects carry coursework or practical components, and every school in this corridor runs originality checks as routine. A paid piece of writing that reads nothing like a student's class work is noticed immediately, and the consequence falls on the student. No tutor should write, draft or edit to submission any part of an assessed component, at any price or any deadline.

The related trap is past papers and mark schemes. Official syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables belong to the boards, and reproducing or supplying them as downloads is copyright infringement. A tutor should reference them and link the official source. A provider offering a bundle of mark schemes as a selling point is telling you something about how else they treat rules, and for unreleased material it is a malpractice exposure as well.

What a tutor should be paid for is clear enough to list. Teaching the content that was never learned. Marking a full paper properly against the published scheme and writing down which mark was lost and why. Drilling the technique that converts knowledge into marks. Teaching timing. Explaining command terms so an explain question is not answered with a description. All of that is legitimate, all of it moves grades, and none of it requires anybody to cross a line that puts a student's certificate at risk.

07

Starting without losing the first month

  • Send the marked mock scripts before the trial, not after the first invoice
  • Measure real arrival times for a week before choosing a slot
  • Keep the arrangement to one or two subjects from the triage ranking
  • Ask for a written note after every session
  • Review at four sessions and change course early rather than late

Most of the waste in tutoring happens in the first four sessions, and the cause is almost always that nobody looked at a script. A family describes the problem in general terms, the tutor starts from the beginning of the syllabus, and four paid hours pass before the actual lost marks are identified. Sending the marked mock before the trial hour fixes this for nothing, and it is the single most useful thing a parent can do.

For an MBZ City household, send four things: the board and syllabus code with the tier, the school name, the marked mock scripts for the subjects you are considering, and the real arrival times for a week rather than the school's finishing time. The last of those sounds trivial and determines whether the slot you choose survives. Then take the free trial hour over live video, with no card details taken and no commitment created.

After that, keep the arrangement narrow. One or two weekly slots, chosen from the triage ranking, with the rest of the subjects on a revision plan the student runs. Ask for a short written note after each session so progress is visible without interrogating your child at dinner. Review after four sessions against the mock that started it. If the targeted marks are not coming back, change the tutor, the subject or the diagnosis, and say so in week five rather than at the end of the term.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Session timing differs sharply across the mainland corridor because journey length does. These notes are about logistics, since logistics is what decides whether a weekly slot survives to the end of term.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City zones

A large grid, so bus routes collect several zones before completing. Two children at the same school can be home forty minutes apart, which means the family's arrival time matters more than the school's bell.

Khalifa City

A short hop north and a common secondary destination from MBZ City. Routes that run this way are among the more predictable, so an afternoon slot can hold.

Al Raha Gardens and Al Raha Beach

Another frequent destination, with dismissal-hour traffic on the airport road adding time in the return direction specifically.

Al Reef

Shares the airport-road corridor and the same late arrivals. Families here and in MBZ City often end up holding the same post-20:00 window.

Al Bateen and Al Khalidiyah

Island destinations for British-track secondary, and the longest daily journeys from the mainland. An afternoon tutoring slot is rarely realistic on these routes.

The Corniche and Al Markaziyah

Where several older established schools sit, and where a large share of in-home tutors are based. Their MBZ City quotes carry the return journey inside the price.

Yas Island and Saadiyat Island

Newer provision reached by the longest routes of all. Evening slots are the only dependable option for households sending children this way.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Confirm board, code and tier

Cambridge 0620 Extended or Edexcel 4CH1 Higher, in writing from the school, plus the school's name. That answer determines which past papers help and which quietly mislead, and it is the most common thing a family has not checked before paying for a first session.

  2. 02

    Measure the real arrival time

Note when your child actually gets home for a week, not when the school day ends. A route that collects several MBZ City zones can arrive forty minutes after the first stop, and the slot has to be set from the latest realistic arrival rather than the earliest.

  3. 03

Send the marked scripts for triage

Mock papers for every subject you are worried about. The ranking comes from comparing them: which losses are two marks from a boundary, which are concentrated in a few topics, and which are spread evenly and need something other than paid hours.

  4. 04

    Take the free trial hour

One hour over live video, no card details and no commitment, spent on a real problem from the marked script. You are testing whether the explanation lands for your child, which is the only judgement a profile cannot make for you.

  5. 05

Keep it narrow and review at four

One or two weekly slots rather than three parallel arrangements, with the other subjects on a plan the student runs alone. After four sessions compare against the original mock, and change the subject, tutor or diagnosis if the marks have not moved.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Built around the longest commute in the emirate

Both usable windows are available at one rate, because nobody is driving to Mohammed Bin Zayed City. A household on a 70-minute island route can hold a slot after 20:00 and keep it, where in-home delivery forces every family into the one slot a tutor's journey allows.

Triage before spending

A nine-subject week gets a written ranking of where paid hours will pay back and where they will not, drawn from the marked mocks. That usually means declining to tutor subjects a worried parent asked about, which is the point of asking somebody who reads scripts.

Matched to the code, not the subject

A tutor is proposed for 0620 Extended or 4PH1 Higher specifically. Cambridge and Pearson word questions differently and provide different formulae, so practice from the wrong board produces a mock result that makes no sense given the hours spent.

Rates published with their sources

Every AED figure here names who published it and when it was read. Three of six competitor pages studied for this market publish no price at all, and two quote US dollars to families who transact in dirhams.

The two series used deliberately

June and November are both full sittings, and splitting an unmanageable subject load across them is a legitimate plan rather than a failure route. The February and March series is offered in India only and belongs in no Abu Dhabi schedule.

A free hour before any commitment

One trial lesson over live video, with no card details taken and no rolling term created. If the explanation does not land, the next match is arranged at no cost, because paying a market rate to discover a mismatch is the wrong order of operations.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Mohammed Bin Zayed City: your questions answered

What time can tutoring start for a child travelling home to MBZ City?+

It depends entirely on the route rather than the school. A child at a school inside the community can usually start by 15:45 to 16:00. A route out to Khalifa City or Al Raha pushes that to 16:15 or 16:45. A child crossing to an island school is often not home until 16:30 to 17:15, in which case the dependable slot is after 20:00. Measure actual arrival times for a week before choosing, and set the session thirty minutes after the latest of them rather than the average.

My child sits nine IGCSE subjects. How many should we tutor?+

One or two with a weekly slot, and perhaps one more with a short block that then stops. Nine parallel arrangements exhaust the budget and the child by February and typically move no grades. Rank the subjects from the marked mocks on three questions: how close is the mark to a grade boundary, are the losses concentrated in a few topics or spread evenly, and does the subject reward technique. Subjects that are learnable independently, and subjects already comfortably above target, should be left alone.

Which IGCSE subjects give the best return on paid hours?+

Mathematics and English as a Second Language, consistently, because the lost marks are diagnosable and the exercises are highly trainable. Physics and chemistry follow, where electricity, moles calculations and organic pathways are compact blocks with reliable examination value. Biology usually gives less, because the content is learnable independently and only the extended-response structure needs teaching. Subjects where losses are spread evenly across the whole paper need content recovery rather than tutoring, which is a different and slower piece of work.

Is the November series only for resits?+

No. Cambridge runs full June and November series, and Pearson runs May/June and November, so November is a complete sitting rather than a repair route. It can be used deliberately to split an unmanageable nine-subject load across two sessions, or for a subject missed after a mid-year transfer. It is also the fastest route for a grade that falls just below a university requirement. Decide in advance which result would trigger a November entry, because once the June result arrives the decision has to be made in days.

Can my child sit the February or March IGCSE series in Abu Dhabi?+

No. Cambridge offers the February and March series to India only. UAE candidates sit the June and November series, and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. Any revision plan or tutoring package built around a spring sitting is built on another country's calendar, and a provider offering a February entry to a child in Abu Dhabi has told you something useful about their accuracy. Check your own school's zone timetable too, since Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones.

How much does in-home IGCSE tuition cost around MBZ City?+

Bestimate's 2026 UAE survey puts in-home one-to-one tuition at AED 180 to 350 an hour across Abu Dhabi, with independent home tutors reaching AED 500. A qualified online subject tutor sits at AED 150 to 300; Unitors publishes IGCSE from AED 150. Budget platforms advertise from AED 33 to 65. The gap between online and in-home is largely the journey, and from these communities the journey is long in both directions. IB Gram quotes after a free trial lesson and delivers online rather than at any UAE address.

Is a cheap online platform a waste of money?+

Not if you buy it for what it does. At AED 33 to 65 an hour, a budget platform provides accountability, routine and someone to keep a reluctant student working, which is genuinely valuable and much cheaper than a specialist. What it will not do is move a grade boundary in Extended chemistry or fix board-specific paper technique. Families who buy it expecting that conclude tutoring does not work, when they actually bought the wrong tier. Pairing a budget platform for routine with one mid-band specialist hour is a sensible combination.

Do tutors come to houses in Mohammed Bin Zayed City?+

Local independent tutors do, and the market prices the journey accordingly, which is why in-home quotes from the island or the Corniche run high for these zones. IB Gram is not among them: there are no home visits anywhere in the UAE from us, and visiting tutors are a service offered only in India. Lessons for MBZ City households run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, which is also why both the afternoon and late-evening windows are available at the same rate.

My child transferred from another curriculum into IGCSE. What needs fixing first?+

Answer structure and command terms, before content. Students transferring from Indian or Ministry curriculum schools usually arrive with solid procedural mathematics and little experience of extended written answers or of structured science questions that ask for explanation rather than recall. An explain question answered with a description earns a fraction of the credit, however well the student knows the material. That gap is specific, closes faster than families expect, and is cheapest to address in the term after the move rather than during Year 11 revision.

Does the after-school Arabic class affect when we can book?+

Considerably, and almost no provider raises it. Arabic is mandatory in UAE private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, and after-school Arabic or Quran classes commonly occupy the 17:00 window families assume is free. Arabic also rewards short frequent practice, which competes with the evening hours a pre-examination science plan needs. Map the whole week before booking anything. Families who do find one window that holds for a term; families who book the science slot first are renegotiating by week three and drifting by week six.

Should a tutor supply past papers and mark schemes?+

They should reference and link the official sources, not hand over bundles. Past papers, mark schemes, syllabus documents and grade-boundary tables belong to the boards, and reproducing or distributing them is copyright infringement; for unreleased material it is also a malpractice exposure. A provider advertising a package of mark schemes as a selling point has told you how they treat rules generally. What a tutor should do is mark your child's attempt against the published scheme and write down which mark was lost and why.

How do I know whether the losses are content or technique?+

Read the marked script with the pattern in mind. If marks are missing from whole questions left blank or abandoned halfway, that is usually content or timing. If marks are missing from questions where the answer is broadly right but the credit was withheld, that is technique: no working shown, a command term misread, units omitted, or an explanation given where analysis was asked for. The two need different remedies, and a tutor who cannot tell you which it is after one session with the script is not reading it carefully.

Can we pause tutoring during school examination weeks?+

Yes, though a short technique review often serves better than a pause. School examination weeks are when a student has the most immediate evidence of what is failing, and a thirty-minute session going over a just-sat paper is worth more than a full hour of new content. There is no rolling term to exit and no fee attached to a break, and because nobody is travelling to an MBZ City address a paused slot can be resumed in its original place without renegotiating anybody's route.

How quickly can an IGCSE tutor be matched for these communities?+

For mainstream codes, usually within a few days, because online delivery means the pool is not limited to tutors willing to drive out here. Coordinated Sciences 0654, Computer Science 0478 and Arabic as a first language take longer, as does any request tied to one narrow evening slot in the weeks before a series, when tutors who know a code well are already committed. You are told which case applies rather than given a fast general match that produces repeated diagnosis later.

What if we only want help for the final eight weeks?+

That is a legitimate and often efficient plan, provided the eight weeks start from a marked paper rather than from the beginning of the syllabus. Two or three sessions a week on one or two subjects, each ending with a timed section, with the topic list drawn from the lost marks in the most recent mock. Book it a term ahead if you can: the specialists who know a specific code are committed early, and families who start looking after the spring mocks are choosing from whoever is left.

Measure the commute, triage the subjects, then book one hour

An IGCSE home tutor in Mohammed Bin Zayed City has to fit a long journey and a nine-subject week, and most arrangements fail on those two things rather than on teaching. Measure real arrival times for a week, rank the subjects from the marked mocks, and confirm the board, code and tier before any revision is planned. Then send the scripts and take the free trial hour over live video, with no card details and no commitment. Keep it to one or two subjects, and review after four sessions.
