IB Home Tutor in Al Ghadeer

Searching for an IB home tutor in Al Ghadeer usually starts with a price question, and almost nobody in this market answers it. This page does. It sets out what Abu Dhabi tutors charge per hour and per month, what a tutor's drive out to the Al Ghadeer border corridor adds to that figure, and where Diploma families lose money without buying any extra teaching. IB Gram then delivers the lessons themselves one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, starting with a free trial.

  • Market AED rates published with the source that quoted them
  • Lessons run live over video, never as a visit to your address
  • Subject specialists matched by paper, not by postcode

IB & IGCSE in Al Ghadeer

The price question Al Ghadeer parents ask first

Al Ghadeer sits on the Abu Dhabi side of the emirate border, off the E11 near Al Samha, and that location shapes every tutoring conversation here. A family in a Al Ghadeer townhouse may drive their children toward Abu Dhabi island in the morning or toward the Dubai schools near Jebel Ali instead. Either way, the school day ends a long way from the front door, and a tutor who agrees to travel to the community is quoting for the drive as much as for the teaching.

That is why the honest starting point is money. Market rates for private tuition in Abu Dhabi run from roughly AED 45 an hour for a university student working online to AED 650 an hour at the premium end, and the figures are published by the agencies themselves rather than estimated by us. An in-home one-to-one visit is quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour depending on who you ask, and the gap between that and an online specialist rate of AED 200 to 450 is almost entirely fuel, traffic and the tutor's unpaid hour in the car. Al Ghadeer's distance from the island means that premium lands at the top of the range, not the bottom.

Our position is simple and we state it before you read any further: IB Gram does not offer home visits in Abu Dhabi, and home tutoring at the door is a service we run only in India. What we sell to a Al Ghadeer family is one-to-one teaching over live video, with the same tutor each week, screen-shared past papers, and a recording of the lesson your child can go back to. The reason is not cost-cutting. It is that a Diploma student taking Chemistry HL needs somebody who knows where Paper 2 candidates lose marks on the energetics questions, and the chance of that person living twenty minutes from Al Ghadeer is small.

The rest of this page is built around the budget rather than the sales pitch. There is a table of what the Abu Dhabi market charges, by tier, with the provider who published each rate. There is a second table that converts hourly rates into the monthly figure a family actually pays, because nobody plans a Diploma year in hours. There is a plain account of where tutoring money gets wasted: paying specialist rates for homework supervision, booking two subjects with one generalist, starting in April for a May sitting. And there is the exam calendar read backwards from the June series, because the single biggest driver of cost is starting late.

Everything factual here is attributed. Rates carry the provider who quoted them and the month they were read. Regulatory points carry the authority that issued them: ADEK for private schools in this emirate, the Ministry of Education for certificate equivalency, MoHRE for the private tuition work permit introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. Where a date is not verifiable we say so rather than inventing one, which is why you will find no IB exam date on this page and a link to your child's IB coordinator instead.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Al Ghadeer children are spread across three IB programmes and two directions of commute. The notes below say what each programme demands of a family in this corridor, and what online tuition can realistically carry.

PYPAges 3-12 · Pre-KG to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

The PYP assesses through units of inquiry rather than tests, so a parent rarely sees a mark that signals trouble. What shows instead is reading fluency that stops improving, number work done on fingers in Year 4, or a child who cannot explain what their current unit is about. Support at this stage is short, frequent and skills-led rather than syllabus-led.

PYP tuition is the cheapest tier in Abu Dhabi and the easiest to overpay for. Market rates for primary support start around AED 45 to 150 an hour online, and a Al Ghadeer family paying specialist Diploma rates for Year 4 maths is buying credentials the work does not need. Two thirty-minute online slots a week, after the commute home, usually beats one long evening session a tired child sits through.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

MYP marks arrive as criterion letters A to D rather than percentages, which is where most confusion begins. A student scoring 6 on Criterion A and 3 on Criterion D in Maths is not a weak mathematician; they cannot apply the method to an unfamiliar context. Tuition that reads the criterion breakdown fixes the right thing, and MYP Year 11 is where the Diploma maths route gets decided.

The MYP years are the cheapest point to intervene for a Al Ghadeer family, and the one most often skipped. A student who arrives in DP1 with gaps in algebraic manipulation needs two years of catch-up at specialist rates; the same gaps closed in MYP Year 10 cost a term of mid-tier tuition. Families in this corridor often notice the problem only when the Diploma subject choice form comes home.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. The marks that decide the final grade are split between external papers and the Internal Assessment in each subject, and the IA is where the predictable damage happens because it is coursework with a deadline the school sets, not the IB. HL papers carry a third option paper in several sciences.

This is where Al Ghadeer budgets stretch. A Diploma student taking two Higher Levels plus IA supervision can absorb four to six hours of tuition a week in the weeks before an internal deadline, then drop to one. Families who buy a flat weekly block all year pay for the quiet months and run short in the busy ones. Market specialist rates of AED 200 to 450 an hour make that difference worth planning.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

The CP pairs a career-related study with at least two Diploma courses, a reflective project and a personal and professional skills course. It is far less common in this emirate than the full Diploma, and students on it often need help with the DP courses they are carrying rather than with the career strand itself.

CP students in Abu Dhabi are a small group and a specialist match takes longer to arrange than for a mainstream Diploma subject. We say so at the point of enquiry rather than after payment. If the DP courses inside a CP are the problem, the tuition looks identical to Diploma support and the market rate is the same.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the Diploma and MYP subjects Abu Dhabi families most often ask us to cover, with the part of each course where hours actually convert into marks. The cost of tuition in a subject tracks how scarce the specialist is, not how hard the subject sounds.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

AA rewards algebraic fluency and proof. HL candidates sit three papers plus the exploration, and Paper 3 is the one that separates grades because it asks extended problem-solving on unfamiliar ground. Marks leak from calculus notation and from stating a domain. AA is the most requested and most expensive subject in this market.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

AI is modelling and statistics with the calculator in constant use. SL students lose marks by rounding too early and by reporting a correlation without commenting on whether the model is suitable. AI HL carries more statistics than most parents expect. A tutor who teaches AA by default will teach AI badly.

Physics

HL and SL

Physics marks are lost in the explanation, not the arithmetic. A student who can compute the answer but cannot say which conservation law applies will stall in the long-response questions. HL adds the option topic and harder circuits work. The practical skills assessed in the IA need separate attention from the papers.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms account for most of the lost marks we see. Students memorise reaction steps and then cannot apply them to an unseen compound. HL extends into harder thermodynamics. The IA in Chemistry is also where the honesty line matters most, because the data must be the student's own.

Biology

HL and SL

The content volume is the trap. Biology candidates who revise by rereading notes score far below those who answer past-paper questions against the command terms. Statistical treatment of data in the IA catches students out, and HL candidates must handle more detail in plant and animal physiology than SL.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy decides grades here. A correctly labelled diagram with the axes and the shift explained earns marks a paragraph of prose will not. HL adds quantitative questions and a harder policy evaluation. The three commentaries in the Internal Assessment need real published articles chosen early rather than the week before.

Business Management

HL and SL

The command terms do the work: a question asking students to evaluate and answered with a description caps the mark regardless of the content. HL carries additional content and the pre-released case study for Paper 1 rewards genuinely thorough preparation rather than last-minute reading.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 is unseen textual analysis, which cannot be revised by memorising content. Students need practice writing to time on texts they have never seen. The Individual Oral requires a global issue and two texts chosen and prepared well in advance, and HL adds the essay component.

English B

HL and SL

English B suits students for whom English is an additional language, and the productive skills carry the grade. Writing to a specified text type with the right register is a learnable skill that many candidates never practise. HL demands two literary works and more sustained written response.

Arabic A and Arabic B

HL and SL

Abu Dhabi schools run Arabic alongside the IB for every pupil, and the stream a child sits in matters. Arabic A is a first-language literature course; Arabic B is acquisition. Federal rules require Arabic in private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, so this is not an optional subject here.

Computer Science

HL and SL

The solution development in the Internal Assessment is a project with a client, and students who choose a problem too large lose weeks. Paper 1 rewards precise pseudocode and tracing. HL adds the resource management and abstract data structures that most students find the steepest part of the course.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats are worth considering from Al Ghadeer, and they differ most in what they cost per useful minute rather than per hour. The weekly rhythm matters more than the headline rate.

Weekly one-to-one, the same tutor each week

One or two sessions a week with a single subject specialist, running through the term. This is the format that does the most for a Diploma student because the tutor builds a record of what has been covered and what keeps breaking. It is also the cheapest per mark gained, because no time is spent re-diagnosing the same gap every month.

  • 60 or 90 minutes, scheduled after 17:00 Gulf Standard Time to clear the commute
  • Past papers screen-shared and annotated live, not emailed afterwards
  • A short written note to the parent after each session
  • The same tutor across the term, so progress is cumulative

Internal Assessment and Extended Essay supervision

Scheduled blocks timed to the deadlines your child's school sets, not to a calendar we invent. The tutor teaches method, reads drafts and gives feedback against the published criteria. The student does every piece of the writing and the data collection, because IB academic-honesty rules make that non-negotiable and a breach ends the Diploma, not the tuition.

  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own draft
  • Research question narrowed before any writing starts
  • Referencing and the reflection sessions handled properly
  • No drafting, editing to completion or supply of material for the student to submit

Intensive pre-exam blocks

Short, dense runs of sessions in the weeks before mocks or the final papers, built entirely around timed past-paper work and the student's own error pattern. Families use this when the budget cannot stretch to year-round tuition, and it is the most efficient spend available if the underlying content is broadly in place.

  • Two or three sessions a week for four to eight weeks
  • Every session ends with a question answered under exam timing
  • Marking against the published mark scheme, with the loss pattern named
  • A revision order set by where marks are actually going, not by syllabus order

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Ghadeer

01

What IB tuition actually costs around Al Ghadeer

An IB home tutor in Al Ghadeer is quoted between AED 180 and AED 500 an hour in this market, and an online IB specialist between AED 200 and AED 450. Those are market figures published by the agencies themselves and read in October 2026, not IB Gram's price list. The table below shows the full spread, from a university student charging AED 45 an hour to a premium provider publishing AED 650.

Three things stand out once the figures are side by side. The first is how wide each band is: a parent ringing round five providers for the same subject at the same level will be quoted numbers that differ by a factor of four, and almost none of them will explain what the difference buys. The second is that the in-home band starts lower than the specialist online band and ends higher. That is because the in-home figure covers two different things sold under one name, a generalist who will supervise homework and a genuine subject specialist who happens to drive.

The third is that three of the six most visible providers in this market publish no price at all, and two of the remaining quote in US dollars. For a family in Al Ghadeer budgeting in dirhams against a school fee invoice, a dollar rate on a UAE page is a warning sign about how much else on that page was written for somebody else's country.

Use the table as a sanity check rather than a target. If a quote sits well above the specialist band, ask what the extra buys: examiner experience that can be evidenced, a named syllabus, a record of the papers taught. If it sits well below, ask who is teaching and at what level they studied the subject themselves.

What the drive out to Al Ghadeer adds to the bill

The gap between an online specialist rate and an in-home rate is not teaching. It is the hour a tutor spends in a car on the E11 and the risk they carry that an accident on the Abu Dhabi carriageway turns a 90-minute booking into a three-hour commitment. A tutor who prices that honestly charges more for Al Ghadeer than for a villa on the island, and one who does not price it will quietly stop taking the booking after a month.

There is a second cost that never appears in a quote. A tutor willing to drive to the border corridor is drawn from the small pool of people who live near it, which means the subject match is decided by geography. A Diploma student needing Physics HL help with the option topic gets whoever is available within a reasonable drive, and that person may last have taught the subject at a different level entirely. The hourly rate looks like the whole price; the mismatch is the real one.

Online removes both. The tutor is selected for the paper your child sits rather than the road they live near, and nobody pays for fuel. That is the entire argument, and the table below sets the two formats against each other on the terms that matter from this address: cost, travel, who is available and what happens when a lesson has to move.

To be plain about it: IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE. Home visits are a service we run only in India. If an in-home tutor in Al Ghadeer is what you want, this page tells you honestly what the market charges for it so you can negotiate well, and then makes the case for the format we actually deliver.

Budgeting a Diploma year from Al Ghadeer, month by month

Nobody plans a two-year Diploma in hours. They plan it in monthly outgoings against a school fee invoice, which is why the hourly rate is the wrong unit for a family decision. Converted to a month, one weekly hour with a specialist sits in the AED 1,000 to 2,000 range at the top tier, and Bestimate's own monthly estimates for weekly one-hour sessions run AED 240 to 600 at the budget end and AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle.

The shape of the spend matters more than the total. A Diploma year is not flat. There are two or three pinch points, usually an internal assessment deadline in each subject and the mock window, where a student genuinely needs three or four hours a week, and long stretches where one hour is enough to keep the method honest. Families who buy a fixed weekly block for twenty-four months pay for the quiet months at the busy months' rate.

There is also a real context point worth holding on to. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the following academic year, under Dubai's economic incentives package. Abu Dhabi fee decisions sit with ADEK rather than KHDA, but the broader signal is the same: tuition is the part of the education budget a family still controls, and the part most often spent without a plan.

The table converts the market bands into the units a household actually budgets in, and adds the items parents forget: the IA support block, the exam-season intensive, and the private candidate entry fee if a student sits a paper outside their school.

Where Al Ghadeer families waste tutoring money

  • Specialist rates for general supervision: pay the mid tier instead
  • One tutor across two unrelated subjects: the weaker subject pays for it
  • Starting six weeks out: buys technique, cannot buy content
  • Group classes above or below the student's level: cheap per hour, expensive per mark
  • Year-round flat blocks: the quiet terms subsidise nothing

The most common waste is paying a specialist rate for work a specialist is not needed for. Homework supervision, reading practice and keeping a distracted fourteen-year-old at a desk are all legitimate things to buy, and they do not cost AED 400 an hour. Families who hire one expensive tutor to do everything end up paying Diploma rates for Year 8 revision.

The second is booking one tutor across two subjects for convenience. It halves the scheduling problem and it roughly halves the benefit, because the person who genuinely knows where Maths AA HL candidates lose marks on Paper 3 is rarely the same person who knows how the Economics commentaries are assessed. A Al Ghadeer family already managing a long commute is understandably drawn to a single point of contact; the cost of that convenience shows up in the weaker subject.

The third is timing. Starting tuition six weeks before a sitting converts almost the whole budget into exam technique, because there is no time left to repair content. The same money spread across the two terms before would have done both. Starting late is not a moral failing and it is sometimes unavoidable, but it is expensive, and the honest answer to a parent asking in late spring whether tuition is still worth it is yes for technique, no for content gaps.

The fourth is paying for group classes that do not match the student's level. A group rate of AED 100 a head looks decisive next to AED 300 one-to-one, until you notice that a class covering the whole syllabus spends four minutes on the topic your child actually cannot do. Per useful minute, that group hour can be the most expensive thing on this page.

05

Checking that a tutor you pay in Abu Dhabi is permitted to teach

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated. The private tuition work permit was introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued through MoHRE, whose own service page is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing. The permit is granted free of charge for two years, applications go through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system, and the published completion time is two working days.

Eligibility is broader than most parents expect. Teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen can all hold the permit. Anyone offering private tutoring without one is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted to you, and if a provider cites a specific figure treat that as a sign they are repeating something they have not checked.

There is an Abu Dhabi-specific point that matters here. ADEK's professional ethics rules for private and charter school staff have been reported as barring teachers from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit's code of conduct is reported to bar the same thing. So the arrangement some families quietly hope for, their child's own subject teacher paid privately, is the one arrangement to avoid. Verify the current wording against ADEK's own policy document before relying on it.

A separate licence applies to anybody operating with premises and staff. A training institute in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit, which is a specific thing granted to a specific type of business. IB Gram holds no regulator permit, accreditation or partnership of any kind, and any provider describing its tutors as approved by a regulator should be asked to show the permit number.

The exam calendar read backwards from the June series

Cost follows the calendar, so the calendar is worth reading in reverse. Cambridge International runs IGCSE, O Level and International A Level exams in a June series and a November series. The February/March series exists but is offered to India only, so a UAE candidate in Al Ghadeer sits June, with November as the resit route. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and in November.

The detail that catches families is zoning. Every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, and Cambridge states that it is essential to use the correct version of the timetable for your zone, adding that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one. A parent should take the timetable from their own child's exams officer and from nowhere else, including this page.

For a sense of the gap between a paper and a result, the Pearson November series is the cleanest published example: the November 2026 International GCSE timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and results from the equivalent November 2025 series reached students on 22 January 2026. June 2026 Pearson results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students the following day. Those are backward-looking dates and they are checkable.

IB dates are different and we will not publish them. The IB's own site blocks automated access, so no IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself. UAE schools sit the May session; for the exact window, your child's IB coordinator and ibo.org are the only sources worth acting on. The table below is therefore framed by milestone rather than by date, which is also the only version that stays true next year.

What tutoring money may not buy: the academic honesty line

  • A tutor teaches method, reads drafts and gives criterion-referenced feedback
  • A tutor does not supply text, rewrite to completion or run the research
  • Ask the three questions above before any money is paid
  • Syllabus documents and mark schemes are cited and linked, never reproduced

Every IB subject carries an Internal Assessment, and the Diploma adds the Extended Essay and the Theory of Knowledge essay. All of it must be the student's own work. A tutor may teach the method, explain the criteria, read a draft the student has written and say plainly where it falls short. A tutor may not supply text for submission, rewrite a draft into its final state, choose and execute the research for the student, or hand over a finished piece.

This is not a policy we invented to sound careful. One provider in this market advertises completed Internal Assessments at a published price. A student who submits one is exposed to an IB malpractice finding, and the consequence falls on the student rather than on the person who sold it. No refund covers a withdrawn Diploma.

The practical version for a Al Ghadeer family is a set of questions to ask any tutor before paying. What exactly will you do with my child's draft? Will the words in the final submission be my child's? What happens if my child asks you to write a paragraph? A tutor who answers those three clearly is worth more than one with a longer list of credentials, because the credentials do not survive a malpractice finding either.

The same line applies to material. We do not reproduce or supply IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade boundary tables. We work from them, cite them and link to the official source, and your child's school already has legitimate access to what they need.

08

Starting from Al Ghadeer: the honest version

A first conversation takes about twenty minutes and is mostly listening. We ask which school, which programme, which subjects and levels, what the last report said by criterion or by grade, and what the family can actually commit to in a week given the commute. Nothing useful can be matched without the level, because an IB maths tutor who is excellent at Applications and Interpretation SL may be the wrong person for Analysis and Approaches HL.

Then a free trial lesson, with the tutor we think fits. It runs as a normal session, live over video, and the student does the talking. The point is diagnostic: the tutor needs to see how your child handles a question they cannot immediately do, which is the behaviour that predicts progress far better than a report grade. You get a note afterwards saying what was found and what the first six weeks should target.

If the match is wrong, we change the tutor rather than asking your child to adjust. If no specialist is free for a genuinely niche combination, we say so at that point instead of filling the slot with somebody approximately right and letting you discover it in week three. A family in Al Ghadeer has already spent enough of its week in a car to deserve a straight answer about availability.

Everything is scheduled in Gulf Standard Time around the school day you actually have, which in this corridor usually means a start after 17:00 on weekdays and a longer weekend slot for IA work. Lessons are online, one-to-one, and no tutor will ever be arranged to travel to a UAE address, because that is not a service we sell here.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Ghadeer

Al Ghadeer families do not keep to one commuting pattern, so the places that matter to a tutoring schedule are spread across two emirates. These are the communities whose school runs and traffic windows show up in our scheduling conversations here.

Al Ghadeer

Aldar's border community off the E11, a mix of apartments and townhouses with no IB school inside it. Every Diploma student here travels, which is why evening slots after 17:00 Gulf Standard Time are the realistic ones rather than a 16:00 start.

Al Samha

The nearest established neighbourhood, and the first stop for groceries and clinics. Families here share the same E11 bottleneck, so a tutor's promised 16:30 arrival and an actual 17:15 arrival are separated by one accident on the Abu Dhabi carriageway.

Al Shahama

Further along the route toward the island, with several long-established schools. Al Ghadeer parents often shortlist here precisely because it halves the drive, then find the IB option they wanted is on Saadiyat instead.

Khalifa City

A major school cluster for the mainland, roughly half an hour from Al Ghadeer in clear traffic and considerably more at dismissal. Families who choose a school here plan tuition around a child who gets home close to 17:00.

Al Raha Gardens and Al Raha Beach

Villa communities with an established IB presence nearby. The attraction for a Al Ghadeer family is programme continuity; the cost is the longest daily commute of any option in this corridor.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Dense, affordable and well supplied with tuition centres, which makes it the place Al Ghadeer families most often compare group-class prices against. Group rates look cheap until you count how little of the hour is spent on your own child's paper.

Al Reef

Close to the airport and a common compromise between Al Ghadeer and the island. Shared school transport routes run through here, and a bus that arrives at 16:45 sets the earliest honest start time for a weekday lesson.

Saadiyat Island and Al Reem Island

Where several of the emirate's better-known international schools sit. A Al Ghadeer child enrolled on Saadiyat spends over an hour in a vehicle each way, and that is the single strongest argument for keeping tuition online.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Ghadeer

The Al Ghadeer and Al Shahama corridor

No IB World School sits inside Al Ghadeer itself, so students travel along the E11 toward the island or across to the Dubai side. Shared transport and sibling timetables usually decide which school a family settles on, and both push the realistic tuition slot into the evening.

  • Emirates National School, Abu Dhabi
  • Al Yasmina Academy
  • GEMS American Academy Abu Dhabi
  • Liwa International School
  • Virginia International Private School

The island and Al Raha IB cluster

This is where Diploma places are concentrated for families prepared to commute. Students we support travel from the border communities to schools here, and their school day ends late enough that homework and tuition compete for the same two hours.

  • Raha International School
  • Al Bateen Academy
  • Cranleigh Abu Dhabi
  • The British International School Abu Dhabi
  • Abu Dhabi International School

Mainland Abu Dhabi and Khalifa City

A large cluster serving the Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Al Reef and Khalifa City catchment. Families comparing tuition centres against one-to-one tuition are usually comparing against centres in this part of the mainland.

  • Repton School Abu Dhabi
  • Brighton College Abu Dhabi
  • The Indian Public High School
  • Bright Riders School

Named schools appear here only as the educational context students we support come from; IB Gram claims no affiliation, partnership or endorsement with any of them, and current programmes and inspection ratings should be checked on ADEK's own school listing.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the level, not just the subject

Programme, subject, level and the exam board where one applies. For IB that means SL or HL and, in maths, AA or AI. For a MYP student the criterion letters on the last report tell us more than the overall grade. This is the information that decides who we can match, and the one most enquiries leave out.

  2. 02

Free trial lesson with the proposed tutor

A full session at no cost, run online and timed to Gulf Standard Time. Your child works a real question; the tutor watches how they handle being stuck. You receive a written note afterwards covering what was diagnosed and what the first six weeks should cover, whether or not you continue.

  3. 03

Agree the rhythm against the school's calendar

We set the weekly pattern against your child's own internal deadlines and mock window rather than a generic plan, and we say which months will need more hours. For a Al Ghadeer family that usually means a lighter autumn and a heavier run into the internal assessment deadlines.

  4. 04

Weekly sessions with a written record

The same tutor each week, screen-shared past-paper work, and a short note to you after each session saying what was covered and what the student should do before the next one. The record is what stops a new term starting with the same diagnosis as the last.

  5. 05

Review on evidence, change if needed

Every six to eight weeks we look at marked work rather than impressions, and decide whether to keep the pattern, change the focus or change the tutor. A tutor swap is a normal outcome of a review, not a complaint, and it costs nothing.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Rates published with their source

Every AED figure on this page carries the provider who published it and the month it was read. Three of the six most visible providers in this market publish no price at all. A family cannot negotiate against numbers nobody will state, which is why ours are attributed rather than rounded into a claim.

Matched by paper, not by proximity

A tutor who has to reach Al Ghadeer by road is chosen from the people who live near it. Online, the pool is the people who know the paper your child sits. For a Higher Level option topic that difference is the whole of the result, and it costs nothing in fuel.

One tutor, one subject, one record

The same specialist each week, keeping a running record of what has been taught and what keeps breaking. Progress is cumulative and the diagnosis is not repeated every month, which is where the real saving sits compared with a rotating roster of substitutes.

The honesty line stated before you pay

We teach, review and give feedback on Internal Assessment and Extended Essay work. We do not supply text for submission or rewrite a draft into its final form. The consequence of a malpractice finding falls on the student, so the boundary belongs on the page rather than in a conversation later.

Availability disclosed, not padded

If no specialist is free for a niche subject and level, we say so at enquiry. Nobody is filled into a slot approximately. For a family that has already built its week around a long commute, a straight answer about coverage is worth more than an optimistic one.

Scheduled around the commute you actually have

Sessions are set in Gulf Standard Time after the school run lands, which from the border corridor usually means after 17:00 on weekdays. Nothing is booked at a time that needs a child to be home an hour before they realistically can be.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Ghadeer: your questions answered

How much does an IB home tutor in Al Ghadeer cost per hour?+

In-home one-to-one tuition in Abu Dhabi is quoted between AED 180 and AED 500 an hour including travel, with Bestimate's rate table putting the usual band at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors asking AED 200 to 500. An online IB specialist sits at AED 200 to 450. Al Ghadeer's distance from the island pushes an in-home quote toward the upper end, because the tutor is pricing a long drive on the E11 as well as the lesson. Those figures were read in October 2026 and are what the market publishes, not IB Gram's price list.

Does IB Gram send a tutor to a house in Al Ghadeer?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; tutors visiting a family at home is a service we run only in India. For a Al Ghadeer family the lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, with past papers screen-shared and annotated during the session. We are direct about this before any payment because the alternative, a vague promise followed by a video link, is how families lose trust in this market.

What does the travel premium actually buy on a Al Ghadeer booking?+

Mostly fuel and risk. The difference between an online specialist rate and an in-home rate covers the tutor's unpaid hour in the car each way and the chance that one incident on the Abu Dhabi carriageway turns a 90-minute booking into three hours. It does not buy better teaching. It also narrows the tutor pool to people living near the border corridor, so the subject match ends up decided by road distance rather than by which paper your child sits.

Is a monthly figure more useful than an hourly rate for planning?+

Yes, because that is the unit a household actually budgets in. One weekly hour converts to roughly AED 240 to 600 a month at the budget tier, AED 600 to 1,200 in the middle and AED 1,000 to 2,000 or more with an IB specialist, using Bestimate's published monthly estimates. The useful refinement is to expect two or three heavier months a year, around internal assessment deadlines and mocks, rather than a flat monthly figure across the whole Diploma.

Where do Al Ghadeer families most often waste money on tuition?+

Four places. Paying specialist Diploma rates for homework supervision a mid-tier tutor could do. Booking one tutor across two unrelated subjects for scheduling convenience, which weakens the second subject. Starting six weeks before a sitting, which spends the whole budget on exam technique with no time left for content. And buying a cheap group class pitched above or below the child's level, which looks economical per hour and is expensive per useful minute.

Can the money be concentrated into the weeks that matter most?+

That is usually the better plan. A Diploma year has pinch points rather than a flat workload: an internal assessment deadline in each subject and the mock window. A family can run one hour a week through the quiet terms and move to three or four in those windows, which costs less over a year than a fixed block that prices the quiet months at the busy months' rate. We say in advance which months we expect to be heavy.

Which IB subjects cost the most to find a tutor for in Abu Dhabi?+

Price tracks scarcity rather than difficulty. Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level is the most requested and most expensive to staff, followed by Physics HL and Chemistry HL where the option topics narrow the pool further. Economics and Business Management sit in the middle. The cheapest are primary and lower MYP subjects, where a good general teacher is genuinely enough and specialist rates would be money spent on credentials the work does not require.

Does a tutor teaching a Al Ghadeer student need a MoHRE permit?+

Yes. The private tuition work permit was introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is issued through MoHRE free of charge for two years, and the published service completion time is two working days. Teachers, government and private sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged fifteen to eighteen are all eligible. You can ask any tutor to show the permit and its validity dates. Tutoring without one carries fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and no fine schedule is published.

Can we pay my child's own subject teacher for private lessons instead?+

That is the one arrangement to avoid in this emirate. ADEK's professional ethics rules for private and charter school staff have been reported as prohibiting teachers from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the code of conduct attached to the MoHRE permit is reported to bar serving students affiliated with the teacher's own school. Check the current wording on ADEK's own policy page before acting. A teacher from a different school, properly permitted, is a different matter.

When does a Al Ghadeer student sit Cambridge exams, given the commute?+

Cambridge runs a June series and a November series for IGCSE, O Level and International A Level, and UAE candidates sit those two. The February/March series is offered to India only, so ignore any page quoting it at you. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. The commute does not change the dates, but it changes the revision plan: a student losing two hours a day to the road needs the past-paper work spread earlier rather than compressed into the final fortnight.

Why are no IB exam dates printed on this Al Ghadeer page?+

Because we have not been able to verify them from the IB itself. The IB's website blocks automated access, so no IB session or results date in this project is confirmed from the source, and a wrong date is worse than no date when a family plans a revision schedule around it. UAE schools sit the May session. For the exact window, results day and any retake deadline, your child's IB coordinator and ibo.org are the only places worth taking a date from.

Will a tutor write part of my child's Internal Assessment if we pay extra?+

No, and no price changes that. A tutor teaches the method, explains the published criteria, reads a draft your child has written and says where it falls short. Supplying text, rewriting a draft into its final state or running the research is academic malpractice under IB rules, and the consequence falls on the student. One provider in this market sells completed Internal Assessments outright; a student submitting one risks the Diploma, and no refund covers that.

Is a cheap group class near Mohammed Bin Zayed City better value than one-to-one?+

It depends entirely on whether the class matches your child's level. At roughly AED 100 a head a group hour looks decisive against AED 300 one-to-one, but a class working through the whole syllabus may spend four minutes on the single topic your child cannot do. Measured per useful minute, that can be the most expensive option available. Group teaching works well when every student is on the same paper at the same level and is genuinely stuck in the same place.

How quickly can a tutor start for a student in Al Ghadeer?+

For mainstream Diploma subjects such as Maths AA or AI, Biology, Economics or English A, a free trial can usually be scheduled within a few days once we know the level. For a narrow combination, a specific Higher Level option topic or a less common language, it can take longer, and we tell you that at enquiry rather than booking somebody approximately right. Nothing starts until the trial has happened and you have the written note from it.

What should I ask a tutor before paying anything in this market?+

Five questions sort the field quickly. Which exact syllabus and level do you teach, named? What will you do with my child's draft coursework, in your own words? Can you show your MoHRE private tuition permit? What does the hourly figure include, and is a cancelled session credited? And what happens if the match does not work? A tutor who answers all five plainly is worth more than one with a longer list of claims and vaguer answers.

Start with the trial, then decide what the budget should buy

You now have the numbers this market usually withholds: what an IB home tutor in Al Ghadeer is quoted at, what the drive adds, what a month costs rather than an hour, and where the spend leaks. The next step costs nothing. Tell us the school, the programme, the subjects and the levels, and we will arrange a free trial lesson online with the specialist we think fits. You will get a written note afterwards saying what was diagnosed and what the first six weeks should target, whether or not you continue. Lessons are one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, and never a visit to a UAE address.
