IB & IGCSE in Al Raha Gardens

One household, two examination calendars

Al Raha Gardens is a community where this situation is common. The school at its centre runs the full IB continuum, while families wanting the British pathway commute to Khalifa City and sometimes as far as Al Bateen or Al Mushrif. A single household can therefore contain a Middle Years student, a Year 11 IGCSE candidate and a Diploma student, on three different assessment systems, none of which shares a deadline. That is not an unusual arrangement here; it is close to the default for a family of three children.

The two examined calendars work in opposite ways, and this is the fact that makes planning hard. The IGCSE calendar is external and dated: entry deadlines, zone timetables, published results days. Cambridge runs June and November series for UAE candidates; its February and March series is India-only. Pearson runs May, June and November, and June 2026 results reached students on 20 August 2026.

The IB calendar is internal and school-set for most of its length. Internal Assessment drafts, the Extended Essay milestones, the Theory of Knowledge exhibition and essay deadlines are all fixed by your school rather than published nationally, and they cluster into a nine-month stretch of the Diploma. A family planning around the May examination session alone has planned around the least demanding part of it.

Because the IB dates are school-set and because no IB session or results date in this project has been confirmed from ibo.org, which blocks automated checking, this page names the May session as the one UAE schools sit and nothing more precise. Confirm every IB date with your school's Diploma coordinator, who holds the authoritative version for your child's cohort. A date restated on a website, this one included, is a guide to structure rather than a source to act on.

The collisions are predictable once you have both calendars on one page. IGCSE mocks and Diploma Internal Assessment drafts tend to land in the same winter weeks. IGCSE study leave and Diploma examination preparation overlap in the spring. Results seasons sit weeks apart in the summer, which means two sets of decisions in one holiday. And the Year 11 to Diploma first year bridge, which nobody schedules, falls in the gap between them.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Abu Dhabi, or anywhere else in the UAE. In-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. What we deliver to Al Raha Gardens is one-to-one teaching over live video, which makes a two-system household materially easier to run: two different specialists, back-to-back on the same evening, with no travel to co-ordinate between them. One night of the week is committed rather than three, and neither session begins late because somebody was held up between two addresses.

At a glance

  • The IGCSE calendar is external and dated; the IB calendar is mostly school-set

  • Lessons here are live one-to-one video; home visits are India-only
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

A two-system household is usually running three or four of these stages at once. Each has its own calendar and its own pressure point, and the overlaps are where plans fail.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

Four criteria per subject, each out of eight, converted into a one-to-seven grade. No external examinations unless the school enters candidates for eAssessment, so the calendar is entirely internal: unit deadlines, the community project, and the Personal Project in the final year, assessed against three criteria of eight marks each.

Middle Years students in Al Raha Gardens are usually at the continuum school in the community itself, which means short journeys and the widest choice of session hours in the household. That makes them the easiest child to schedule and therefore the one whose sessions get moved when a sibling's deadline bites.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE, Years 10 and 11

Eight to ten externally examined subjects, with tier decisions fixed at entry, coursework where a specification includes it, and papers in the June or November series. The calendar is published and dated, which makes it easier to plan around and less forgiving when a deadline is missed.

Al Raha Gardens IGCSE students commute out, mostly to Khalifa City, so their mock fortnight and study leave are set by a different school from their Diploma sibling's. Get both calendars on one page in September; that single sheet prevents most of the collisions described further down this page.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity Activity Service, to a maximum of 45 points including up to three from the core. Internal Assessments carry around twenty per cent per subject and are produced across the middle of the two years rather than at the end.

The Diploma student in a two-system Al Raha Gardens household is the one with the denser internal calendar and the less visible one, because nothing about it is published. Ask your child for the school's internal deadline list in writing in the first term; most schools issue one and most students never show it to anybody.

BridgeAge 16 · the summer in between

The Year 11 to Diploma first year gap

An unscheduled stage that decides a great deal. An IGCSE student arriving in the Diploma meets unstructured questions, criterion-marked internal work and a mathematics course decision with university consequences. None of that is taught in Year 11 and none of it is covered in the Diploma induction.

In Al Raha Gardens this gap often coincides with a change of school, since the British-pathway students commuting to Khalifa City may move to a Diploma school afterwards. Three to five sessions in that summer, on unstructured problems and criterion writing, is the cheapest useful tutoring in the whole six years.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

In a two-system household the same subject name means different things. Below is what each demands in each system, so you can see why one tutor cannot sensibly cover both.

Mathematics

IGCSE 0580 or 4MA1 · DP Analysis or Applications

IGCSE is two timed papers with no coursework. The Diploma adds a twenty per cent exploration and, at Higher Level, a third paper worth a fifth of the grade. A tutor fluent in one is not automatically useful in the other, because the assessed skills barely overlap.

Physics

IGCSE 0625 or 4PH1 · DP Physics HL or SL

Cambridge IGCSE splits thirty per cent multiple choice, fifty per cent theory and twenty per cent practical. The Diploma is thirty-six, forty-four and twenty with a scientific investigation. Uncertainty propagation appears in both and is examined far more demandingly in the Diploma.

Chemistry

IGCSE 0620 or 4CH1 · DP Chemistry HL or SL

Moles arithmetic carries both, which is the one genuine continuity. Beyond it the Diploma adds depth in equilibrium and organic mechanisms, and replaces the alternative to practical with an investigation marked out of twenty-four across four criteria.

Biology

IGCSE 0610 or 4BI1 · DP Biology HL or SL

Both reward terminology precision over fluent description, which makes Biology the subject where habits transfer best between the two systems. The Diploma adds significantly more data handling and a research question narrow enough to measure.

English

IGCSE 0500 or 4EA1 · DP English A Language and Literature

IGCSE rewards answering the task set with the right form, audience and purpose. The Diploma adds an Individual Oral worth twenty or thirty per cent and, at Higher Level, an essay. The oral is the component students prepare worst because it feels informal.

Economics and Business

IGCSE 0455 and 0450 · DP Economics and Business Management

Diagram accuracy earns marks in both. The Diploma adds a commentary portfolio in Economics and a research project in Business Management, which are written over months and marked against criteria rather than sat in a hall.

The IB Internal Assessment

DP only, around 20% per subject

Marked against published criteria with stated allocations: the science investigation is twenty-four marks across four criteria with a three-thousand-word maximum; the mathematics exploration is twenty marks across five. There is no IGCSE equivalent in most subjects.

The Extended Essay

DP core, all candidates

Four thousand words of supervised independent research, combining with Theory of Knowledge for up to three bonus points. The marks are decided by the research question in the first fortnight, which is why early work on it is worth several times what late work is worth.

Theory of Knowledge

DP core, all candidates

A sixteen-hundred-word essay on a prescribed title plus an exhibition of three objects. Nothing in the IGCSE pathway resembles it, which is why students arriving from Year 11 find it the most disorienting part of the first Diploma year.

Arabic

IGCSE 0508 or 0544 · MYP and DP language courses

Mandatory alongside the licensed curriculum in UAE private schools regardless of system, with separate provision for Arab and non-Arab students. It is also excluded from the five subjects counted for Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, which surprises most families.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats built for households rather than for individual students, because in a two-system family the scheduling is as much the problem as the teaching.

Back-to-back household evening

Two children, two different specialists, consecutive slots on the same evening. One subject each, each matched to their own system, with no travel to co-ordinate between them. This is the single most practical advantage online delivery gives a two-system household and the reason most of our Al Raha Gardens families run it this way.

  • Two separate specialists, one per child and per system
  • Consecutive slots, so one evening is committed rather than three
  • Each session works from that child's own school material
  • No travel between the two, so neither starts late

Calendar mapping session

A single session, usually in September, that puts both children's calendars on one page: IGCSE entry deadlines, mock fortnights and study leave, alongside the Diploma school's internal Internal Assessment, Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge dates. The output is a sheet naming the three or four weeks where two deadlines collide.

  • Both schools' published dates on a single page
  • Internal Diploma deadlines requested in writing from the school
  • The collision weeks named, so support can be front-loaded
  • Repeatable each September in about an hour

Bridge block for a Year 11 moving to the Diploma

Three to five sessions in the summer between Year 11 and the first Diploma year, on the three things that gap contains: unstructured problems with no stated method, criterion-marked writing, and the mathematics course decision. None of it is taught in Year 11 and none of it is covered in Diploma induction.

  • Unstructured problem work, the main IGCSE to Diploma gap
  • Criterion reading and self-assessment, which the Diploma assumes
  • The Analysis against Applications decision, on evidence
  • Cheapest useful tutoring in the whole six years, because nothing competes

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Raha Gardens

01

The two calendars, side by side

Getting both calendars onto one page in September is the highest-value hour a two-system household spends, and almost nobody does it. The reason is structural: the IGCSE calendar is published and dated by the examination boards, while the Diploma calendar is mostly set internally by your child's school and exists only in a document the student was given in the first week and has not looked at since.

The published side is straightforward. Cambridge runs June and November series for UAE candidates, with the February and March series offered to India only. Pearson runs May, June and November, and its November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. Entry deadlines sit months ahead of the papers. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and warns that using the wrong zone's timetable is the family's risk.

The internal side is denser and less visible. Four or five Internal Assessments, each typically worth around twenty per cent of its subject, with school-set draft deadlines. An Extended Essay with supervisor meetings and milestone dates. A Theory of Knowledge exhibition and essay. Creativity Activity Service requirements running alongside. None of it is published nationally and all of it is compulsory.

Ask your Diploma child's school for its internal deadline list in writing. Most schools issue one. Put it beside the IGCSE child's mock and study-leave dates, and the collision weeks appear immediately. In most Abu Dhabi households they are the same three or four weeks every year, and knowing which ones they are lets you front-load support instead of reacting to it.

Why the Diploma's internal deadline chain is the harder calendar

Parents plan Diploma support around the final papers and the pressure does not land there. It lands in the middle, in a nine-month stretch where four or five Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay, the Theory of Knowledge exhibition and essay and two rounds of mocks arrive in an order nobody has written down for the student in one place.

The chain matters because the links are sequential. A science Internal Assessment needs data collected while laboratory access exists, which puts the method decision months before the write-up. The mathematics exploration needs a topic narrow enough to finish, which is a decision rather than a task, and students defer decisions far longer than tasks. The Extended Essay needs a supervised first draft before Internal Assessments start arriving, because afterwards there is no spare week.

The weightings explain why this is worth the attention. Internal Assessments are typically twenty per cent of a subject grade. Across six subjects that is a substantial share of the Diploma, produced in conditions the student controls, marked against criteria that are published. It is the most recoverable part of the qualification and the part most commonly left to chance.

A tutor's most useful contribution here is refusing to let a deadline be a surprise. The first session of a Diploma engagement should produce a single sheet: every internal deadline the school has published, every external component, and the three weeks in the year where two of them collide. Everything after that is teaching against a known map rather than reacting to whatever arrived on Sunday.

The bridge summer nobody schedules

  • The gap is assessment style, not content knowledge
  • Unstructured problems and criterion writing are the two missing skills
  • The mathematics course decision belongs in this window
  • It is the only tutoring in six years with nothing competing for the hours

Between the end of Year 11 and the start of the Diploma sits a gap that decides a surprising amount, and in Al Raha Gardens it often coincides with a change of school because British-pathway students commuting to Khalifa City may move to a Diploma school afterwards. Nothing in Year 11 prepares a student for what arrives, and Diploma induction does not cover it either.

Three specific things are missing. First, unstructured problems: IGCSE questions tell a student which method to use, and Diploma questions frequently do not. Second, criterion-marked writing, where a student is assessed against published descriptors rather than a mark scheme of right answers. Third, the mathematics course decision, between Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, which has university consequences and is usually made on instinct.

The good news is that the gap is narrow and the work is cheap. Three to five sessions in that summer, on open problem work and criterion reading, with one session on the mathematics decision, materially changes the first Diploma term. It is also the only tutoring in the six years that competes with nothing: no deadlines, no mocks, no coursework, no other subject demanding the same hours.

It is worth saying what the gap is not. It is not a content gap. An IGCSE student arriving in the Diploma generally knows enough content; what they lack is the way the questions are posed and the way the internal work is judged. A provider offering a summer content course is solving a problem the student does not have, which is a common and expensive misdiagnosis.

04

Two results seasons in one summer

A two-system household gets two sets of post-results decisions within a few weeks, which is harder than it sounds because each has its own short window and its own options. For the IGCSE side the dates are published: Pearson June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026.

The IGCSE options after a disappointing grade are three. An enquiry about results, submitted by the school within a board deadline, which is a clerical and marking review rather than a general appeal. A November series resit, producing a grade the following January. Or a full retake in the next June series. For a UAE candidate the February and March series is not available, being offered to India only.

On the IB side, results reach candidates in July according to the school confirmation each cohort receives, and the options are different in kind: an enquiry upon results through the school, a retake in a subsequent session, or acceptance. Because no IB date in this project has been confirmed from ibo.org, which blocks automated checking, every IB date and deadline should be taken from your school's Diploma coordinator rather than from any website.

The practical move for a two-system family is to have both conversations in the spring, before either result arrives. Decide in advance what grade would trigger a remark request, what would trigger a resit, and what would simply be accepted. Decisions made calmly in March are better than decisions made in the forty-eight hours after a result, when nobody in the house is thinking clearly.

One tutor or two across a household

Families ask whether one tutor can cover both children, usually for budget reasons, and the honest answer is almost never. The same subject name means different things in the two systems: IGCSE Mathematics is two timed papers with no coursework, while Diploma mathematics adds a twenty per cent exploration and, at Higher Level, a third paper worth a fifth of the grade.

What can genuinely be shared across a household is narrower and still worth having. Command-term discipline transfers, because the same verbs appear in both systems and a student who learns the difference between explain and evaluate improves in both. Study technique transfers. Timed-practice habits transfer. Pacing arithmetic transfers. None of those requires the same person to teach both children.

What cannot be shared is specification knowledge, which is the part that moves grades. A tutor who teaches Cambridge 0620 weekly knows where the qualitative analysis marks are. A tutor who teaches Diploma Chemistry weekly knows how the investigation's four criteria are allocated. Those are different bodies of knowledge and a tutor who claims both at an equal standard is usually claiming too much.

The practical arrangement that works in Al Raha Gardens households is two specialists in consecutive online slots on the same evening. One evening is committed rather than three, each child gets somebody who teaches their system, and because nobody is travelling neither session starts late. That is the clearest operational benefit online delivery gives a two-system family.

ADEK, equivalency, and the paperwork after results

Abu Dhabi private schools are supervised by the Department of Education and Knowledge, which u.ae describes as supervising the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. Two-system households deal with ADEK twice over, once per school, and the schools' fee approval and calendar arrangements both run through the regulator rather than being set freely.

The paperwork that catches families out later is certificate equivalency, administered by the Ministry of Education. On the British track, students must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade.

The detail most often got wrong is which subjects count. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects for the GCSE and IGCSE count. At least one competitor ranking for these searches tells UAE parents they need six IGCSE subjects, which does not match the published rule. That matters because it changes the subject list a Year 10 student should be entered for, which is a dated decision.

For the IB track, no points threshold for equivalency has been read on a Ministry source, so this page publishes none. Publishing an unverified figure would be worse than publishing nothing. Equivalency is a Ministry process rather than something a tutoring service performs or guarantees; verify the current requirement on the Ministry's own site or with the attestation authority, and treat any provider claiming to secure it for you with caution.

What a two-system household costs, and what we will not claim

Running support for two children in two systems costs roughly double running it for one, and the only real saving available is in scheduling rather than in price. The Abu Dhabi market, with sources named, runs as follows. University-student tutors online advertise from around AED 33 to 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to 65 at EdFlik. A qualified subject tutor online sits at roughly AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing IGCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200.

Specialists run AED 200 to 450 and above, with TutorChase quoting around AED 270 and premium named tutors quoted as high as AED 650 at BartyED. In-home one-to-one visits are quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel priced in. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Abu Dhabi; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India, and none of these figures is our price list.

The allocation that works in a two-system household is to protect the Diploma child's Internal Assessment windows and the Year 11 child's final twelve weeks, and to be modest everywhere else. Those two periods are where marks are genuinely recoverable. Spreading a budget evenly across two children for a whole year usually produces two engagements too thin to change either outcome.

What we will not claim: no provider can guarantee a grade, a score or an improvement, including us. No regulator or examination board accredits IB Gram, we hold no ADEK, MoHRE or board approval, and there is no Abu Dhabi office. A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback; nobody here writes an Internal Assessment, drafts an Extended Essay, composes a Theory of Knowledge essay or produces coursework in any system.

Nearby areas we cover around Al Raha Gardens

These are the communities around Al Raha Gardens, with the detail that matters to a household juggling two examination calendars: which schools the children attend, and therefore whose deadlines land when.

Khalifa City

Where most Al Raha Gardens British-pathway students go to school, a short drive inland. Its mock fortnights and study-leave weeks are set independently of the continuum school in Al Raha Gardens, which is the root of most household collisions.

Al Raha Beach

Waterfront apartments immediately north, sharing road access and several schools. Two-system households here face the same calendar mismatch, and the same peak demand for evening tutoring hours in the same fortnights.

Al Reef

Further towards the airport with longer journeys and a separate set of school calendars again. Al Reef families often find evening availability when Al Raha Gardens households are all competing for the same slots.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Inland, with a large school population and substantial local tutor supply. Its schools run their own study-leave dates, so regional tutor availability shifts through the spring rather than holding steady.

Yas Island

Island schools with a bridge crossing, and some students travelling to the mainland. Yas Year 11 and Diploma students commonly finish later, pushing household scheduling into the evening across the whole spring.

Saadiyat Island

Across the bridges with its own provision, including continuum and British schools. Saadiyat and Al Raha Gardens families compete directly for specialist hours in the 17:00 to 20:00 window.

Al Reem Island

Tower living with its own schools on their own calendars. Relevant mainly because it adds another set of mock weeks to a regional picture that is already a patchwork rather than one timetable.

Al Bateen and Al Mushrif

Established inner districts with long-standing British and American schools. Al Raha Gardens students attending them lose the most time to the commute, which makes their study-leave weeks the most valuable in the household.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Send both children's calendars

The IGCSE child's series, mock fortnight and study leave, plus the Diploma child's internal deadline list from the school. Most Diploma schools issue that list and most students never show it to anybody. Those two documents on one page produce the collision weeks immediately.

  2. 02

Send a marked piece for each child

Two separate diagnoses, because the systems assess differently. For the Year 11 child we classify lost marks into content, wording, working and timing. For the Diploma child we read the Internal Assessment draft against the criterion letters. Different work, different specialists.

  3. 03

Take a free trial lesson for each

One per family covers the household rather than one child, so use it on whichever child is closest to a deadline, and judge from there. Ask each tutor a published-fact question about their own system; hesitation tells you more than any amount of conversation.

  4. 04

    Book back-to-back slots

Two specialists in consecutive online slots on one evening commits one night a week instead of three, and because nobody is travelling neither session starts late. This is the clearest practical advantage online delivery gives a household running two examination systems.

Protect two windows, be modest elsewhere

The Diploma child's Internal Assessment drafting weeks and the Year 11 child's final twelve weeks are where marks are genuinely recoverable. Spending evenly across two children for a whole year usually produces two engagements too thin to change either result.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Two systems, two specialists

IGCSE Chemistry and Diploma Chemistry are different courses with different components. We staff each child separately rather than offering one tutor for both, because specification knowledge is the part that moves grades and nobody holds two at an equal standard.

Both calendars on one page

The IGCSE calendar is published and dated; the Diploma calendar is mostly school-set and invisible. We ask for both, including the school's internal deadline list, and name the three or four weeks each year where two deadlines collide.

The bridge summer taken seriously

Between Year 11 and the first Diploma year sit three missing skills: unstructured problems, criterion-marked writing, and the mathematics course decision. Three to five sessions there change the first Diploma term, and nothing competes for the hours.

Dates from the authority that holds them

We name IGCSE series by month and cite past results dates because those are checkable. For IB dates we point you at your school's Diploma coordinator, because no IB session date in this project has been confirmed from the IB itself.

Equivalency explained, never performed

Five IGCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded, plus one A Level at E or two AS Levels. We publish no IB points figure because none has been read on a Ministry source, and no provider secures equivalency for you.

No guarantees and no claimed approvals

No provider can guarantee a grade in either system. No regulator or board accredits IB Gram, there is no Abu Dhabi office, and every dirham figure on this page carries its source and the month it was read.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Raha Gardens: your questions answered

Can one IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Raha Gardens cover both of my children?+

Almost never usefully. The same subject name means different things: IGCSE Mathematics is two timed papers with no coursework, while Diploma mathematics adds a twenty per cent exploration and, at Higher Level, a third paper worth a fifth of the grade. Specification knowledge is what moves grades and nobody holds two systems at an equal standard. What can be shared is command-term discipline, timed-practice habits and the scheduling, which is where the real saving sits.

Does IB Gram send tutors to Al Raha Gardens for either system?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Abu Dhabi or anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Both children's lessons are one to one over live video. For a two-system household that is a practical advantage rather than a compromise: two different specialists can take consecutive slots on the same evening, so one night is committed instead of three and neither session starts late because nobody is driving.

Why do the IB and IGCSE calendars clash so badly in the winter?+

Because the IGCSE mock season and the Diploma Internal Assessment draft deadlines land in the same weeks, and they demand opposite kinds of work. Mocks need timed revision; Internal Assessment drafts need sustained writing. A household with one child in each is trying to supply both at once in late November and December. Getting both calendars onto one page in September lets you front-load one of them instead of discovering the clash while it is happening.

Where do I get the Diploma internal deadline dates from?+

From the school, in writing. Most Diploma schools issue a list of internal deadlines for Internal Assessments, the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge in the first term, and most students never show it to a parent. Ask your child for it, and if it has gone missing email the Diploma coordinator. Those dates are school-set rather than published nationally, which is precisely why they are easier to miss than the IGCSE ones.

Which IGCSE series will my Year 11 child sit in Abu Dhabi?+

June or November with Cambridge International, and May, June or November with Pearson Edexcel International GCSE. Cambridge's February and March series is offered to India only, so no candidate in Abu Dhabi sits it whatever a generic revision site suggests. Pearson's November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. Check your school's own zone timetable on the board's site, since Cambridge allocates centres to six administrative zones.

In a two-system household, which child has more recoverable marks?+

Typically around twenty per cent, and in some subjects more. The science investigation is twenty per cent, marked out of twenty-four across research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation with a three-thousand-word maximum. The mathematics exploration is twenty per cent, marked out of twenty across five criteria. The Economics portfolio can reach thirty per cent at Standard Level. It is the most recoverable part of the Diploma and the part most often left to chance.

What does my Year 11 child actually need before starting the Diploma?+

Three things, none of them content. Practice with unstructured problems, because IGCSE questions tell a student which method to use and Diploma questions frequently do not. Experience of criterion-marked writing, where work is judged against published descriptors rather than a mark scheme of right answers. And a decision on the mathematics course, between Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, which has university consequences. Three to five summer sessions cover all three.

Is a summer content course a good idea before the Diploma?+

Usually not, because it solves a problem most students do not have. An IGCSE student arriving in the Diploma generally knows enough content; what they lack is the way questions are posed and the way internal work is judged. A provider offering a summer content course is misdiagnosing the gap, which is a common and expensive mistake. Spend the summer on open problem work, criterion reading and the mathematics decision instead.

Does my Al Raha Gardens child need five or six IGCSE passes for equivalency?+

Five, on the published British-track rule: five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at a grade no lower than E or grade 3, together with one Advanced Level subject at no less than E or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among those five. At least one site ranking for these searches states six subjects, which does not match the published rule. Verify the current requirement with the Ministry before acting.

Is there an IB points figure for UAE equivalency?+

Not one this page will publish, because no IB points threshold for equivalency has been read on a Ministry of Education source. The British-track numbers are sourced and quotable; the IB figure is not, and publishing an unverified number on a page a parent might act on would be worse than publishing nothing. Equivalency is a Ministry process rather than something a tutoring provider performs or guarantees. Verify it with the Ministry or the attestation authority directly.

When do the two sets of results arrive, and what are the options?+

The IGCSE side is published: Pearson June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026 and to students on 20 August 2026, with options of an enquiry about results, a November resit producing a grade the following January, or a retake in the next June series. On the IB side, results reach candidates in July according to each cohort's school confirmation, with options of an enquiry upon results, a retake in a later session, or acceptance. Take all IB dates from the coordinator.

Should we decide about resits before results arrive?+

Yes, in the spring, and it is the single most useful conversation a two-system household can have. Agree in advance what grade would trigger a remark request, what would trigger a resit, and what would simply be accepted. Decisions made calmly in March are considerably better than decisions made in the forty-eight hours after a result lands, when nobody in the house is thinking clearly and the windows for acting are short.

Can a tutor help with both an IA draft and IGCSE coursework?+

Within the same boundary in both systems, yes, and it is the same boundary. A tutor may teach content, explain what the criteria reward, question whether a plan is answerable, suggest reading, and say why a section is weak. Nobody at IB Gram writes an Internal Assessment, drafts an Extended Essay, composes a Theory of Knowledge essay or produces coursework. Work submitted for assessment must be the student's own, in either system, at any price.

What does supporting two children in two systems cost here?+

Roughly double supporting one, because two specialists are needed. Published Abu Dhabi bands run from about AED 33 to 65 for student tutors, AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online, and AED 200 to 450 and above for specialists. The saving available is in scheduling rather than price: consecutive online slots commit one evening a week. The spending that works is protecting the Diploma child's Internal Assessment windows and the Year 11 child's final twelve weeks.

Can you staff two specialists in consecutive slots on one evening?+

Usually yes, and it is the arrangement most two-system Al Raha Gardens households settle on. Common subjects in both systems match within a few days. The constraint is narrow combinations at fixed hours: a specific Higher Level component at 19:00 competes with Saadiyat, Al Reem and Yas households for the same window. Where we cannot staff both consecutively we will say so and offer two different evenings rather than putting one tutor across both systems.

Two calendars, one sheet, two specialists

Send the IGCSE child's series and mock dates alongside the Diploma child's internal deadline list from the school, with one marked piece of work each. We will put both calendars on a single page, name the weeks where deadlines collide, and tell you which two windows are worth protecting. Then each child meets a specialist in their own system, in consecutive online slots on one evening if that suits the household. One night committed instead of three, and nobody driving anywhere.
