IB Home Tutor in Al Wahda

Parents searching for an IB home tutor in Al Wahda usually want one thing: a specialist who knows the Diploma Programme and can start this term. IB Gram matches your child to that specialist and teaches one-to-one over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, so an hour fits between the school run and dinner. Home visits are a service we run only in India, so nobody is sent to an Al Wahda address. What you get instead is a Physics HL or Maths AA teacher chosen for the syllabus rather than for the postcode.

  • One-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time
  • Specialist matched by subject and level, never by travel distance
  • Free trial lesson before any payment or term commitment
  • Feedback on your child's own IA work, never written for them

IB & IGCSE in Al Wahda

Eight weeks can change a Diploma grade, if they are spent on the right thing

A Diploma year is not a long flat stretch of study. It is a sequence of fixed dates, most of them set by your child's school inside deadlines the IB imposes, and almost every grade problem a parent brings us in Al Wahda is really a date problem. The Internal Assessment draft that was never marked against the criteria. The subject level that stayed at HL three months after it should have dropped. The mock paper that was sat but never corrected. None of those are ability failures. They are calendar failures, and a calendar failure is the one kind that a tutor can fix quickly because the work needed is already defined.

So this page is organised around the Diploma calendar rather than around a list of subjects. If your child is in DP2 as Term 1 runs out, the next eight weeks have a specific job: one timed past paper per subject, one Internal Assessment moved from draft to marked draft, and an honest decision about whether six subjects at the current levels are still the right six. If your child is in DP1, the same eight weeks have a different job, and spending them on exam technique would be a waste of the money.

Al Wahda sits in central Abu Dhabi, on the dense apartment grid around Al Wahda Mall and Hazza Bin Zayed Street. Families here are minutes from the island's older schools and a long drive from the newer campuses out on Saadiyat, Yas and the Khalifa City corridor. That geography is exactly why in-home tutoring gets expensive here: a tutor who will drive into central traffic at 4pm prices the drive into the hour, and the pool of people willing to do it shrinks the moment you ask for Chemistry HL rather than general maths support.

IB Gram works the other way round. We find the teacher who knows the subject guide, and the lesson happens over live video on your child's own screen, in Gulf Standard Time. Nobody is dispatched anywhere in the UAE; in-home visits are an India-only part of our service and we say so on every page. The practical effect for an Al Wahda family is that the Maths AA HL specialist your child needs is available on Tuesday at 5pm whether that teacher is in Abu Dhabi, Dubai or Mumbai, and the hour you pay for is a teaching hour rather than a teaching hour plus a commute.

The rest of this page is the detail a parent actually needs: what the Abu Dhabi market charges and who publishes those figures, the Diploma calendar counted backwards, where DP1 students quietly lose a year, what ADEK's inspection reports mean, and the line between legitimate IA coaching and academic malpractice. Read the calendar section first if your child is in DP2. Read the honesty section before you pay anyone, anywhere, who offers to help with coursework.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Al Wahda children attend schools running the full IB continuum as well as British campuses that bolt a Diploma onto an IGCSE lower school. Which programme your child is in changes what tutoring is for, so start here before you book anything.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

The PYP is inquiry-led and has no external examinations, which is why parents of primary children rarely need subject tutoring and often need something narrower: number fluency, reading stamina, or the English a child needs to access a unit of inquiry. A PYP hour that drills worksheets misses the point. A useful one builds the skill the classroom is assuming.

Central Abu Dhabi primary intake is heavily mixed-nationality, and a PYP class in Al Wahda routinely contains children on their second or third curriculum. Under federal rules and ADEK licensing, Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies run alongside the PYP, so a child here carries a mandatory-subject load the programme itself does not describe.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

The MYP assesses against criteria A to D in every subject, marked out of 8 each, and reported on a 1-7 scale that is not a percentage. Most MYP tutoring that works is criterion translation: showing a student that a criterion C task wants a process and a criterion D task wants an evaluation, and that writing more does not move either. The final year adds the Personal Project.

Al Wahda families who move from an MYP school to a British campus mid-secondary hit a real gap, because MYP Year 11 and IGCSE Year 11 are assessing different things. We treat that as a bridging job with a defined end point rather than ongoing tuition.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries an Internal Assessment worth a fifth to a quarter of the final grade, marked by the school and moderated by the IB. The Diploma is where almost all Al Wahda tutoring demand sits, and where the calendar matters most, because nothing can be rescued after an upload deadline passes.

Abu Dhabi Diploma cohorts sit the May session. Confirm the exact examination and results dates with your school's IB coordinator rather than with any tutoring site, including this one, because the IB publishes that timetable to schools and it is the school that holds your child's candidate number.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

The CP pairs a career-related study with a smaller set of DP courses, a reflective project and a personal and professional skills course. It is offered by a handful of UAE schools rather than most of them. Tutoring here is usually single-subject: the DP course a CP student is carrying, taught to the same standard as a full Diploma candidate's.

Because CP provision is thin in Abu Dhabi, families in Al Wahda considering it are often choosing between a CP place further out of the city and a full Diploma closer to home. That is a school decision, not a tutoring decision, and your child's current coordinator is the person to ask.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Demand from central Abu Dhabi runs heavily to the quantitative Higher Levels, because those are the courses where a strong MYP or IGCSE student can still stall. These are the Diploma subjects we are asked for most often by Al Wahda families, with what each one actually assesses.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

AA is the proof-and-calculus route. HL adds a third paper of extended problems with no structure, which is where most of the HL grade distribution is decided. Students who scored well in IGCSE maths frequently find AA HL unforgiving because it rewards method chains rather than single-step recall.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

AI is modelling, statistics and technology-led. It is not the easy option: AI HL contains serious statistical inference and graph theory. The route choice matters for admissions, so check whether the engineering or economics course your child wants names AA specifically.

Physics

HL and SL

Marks go missing in two predictable places: multi-step mechanics where a student substitutes before rearranging, and the explain-type questions where a correct answer earns nothing because the physics was never stated. The HL extension topics reward students who can work in symbols.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic mechanisms and equilibrium are the two topics that most often need outside help. The Internal Assessment is where Chemistry grades are made or lost, because a weak research question limits the mark ceiling before a single data point is collected.

Biology

HL and SL

The volume is the problem rather than the difficulty. Biology rewards precise command-term discipline: describe, explain, outline and evaluate carry different mark expectations, and students who write a paragraph for a two-mark describe question run out of time in Paper 2.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy and real-world examples carry the paper marks; the three commentaries carry the Internal Assessment. HL adds a quantitative paper that catches students who treated the course as essay writing. Abu Dhabi students often have strong examples available and never use them.

Business Management

HL and SL

A content-light, technique-heavy subject. The pre-released case study rewards months of preparation and most students start it weeks late. Tool application, not tool recall, is what separates a 5 from a 7.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Paper 1 is unseen textual analysis against a guiding question, and the skill is narrowing fast rather than covering everything. The Individual Oral needs a global issue and two texts chosen months ahead; late choices produce thin orals.

English B

HL and SL

For students whose English is strong but not first-language. The productive skills are the issue: writing to a text type with the right register, and speaking at length about a stimulus image without drifting into narration.

Computer Science

HL and SL

Pseudocode discipline and the HL abstract data structures topic are the common failure points. The solution requires a working product and documented development; a project started in Term 2 of DP2 rarely reaches the top criteria bands.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways Al Wahda families use us, chosen by where the student sits in the Diploma calendar rather than by a package name. Every format is one-to-one over live video.

Weekly one-to-one through the term

A fixed hour or ninety minutes each week with the same teacher, tracking your child's own school scheme of work rather than a generic syllabus order. This is the right shape for DP1 and for the first half of DP2, because it builds the subject at the speed the class is moving and catches a gap in the week it appears rather than in the mock.

  • Same tutor, same slot, so the hour becomes a habit
  • Work set between sessions and marked at the start of the next
  • Session notes a parent can read without a jargon glossary
  • Pauses for school exam weeks and family travel

Paper-level exam sprint

A short, dense block in the run-up to mocks or the May session, built entirely around timed papers. Each hour is a paper attempted, marked against the real criteria, and then dissected for the two or three habits costing marks. A sprint is not for teaching new content, and we will say so if your child needs content rather than technique.

  • One timed paper per session, marked before the next
  • A written list of recurring mark-losing habits
  • Explicit command-term work: explain, evaluate, determine
  • A defined end date, not an open-ended booking

Internal Assessment and Extended Essay clinics

Scheduled reviews of work your child has already written, against the published criteria, strand by strand. A tutor reads the draft, names which criterion is capping the mark and why, and sets the revision the student then does alone. We do not write, redraft or complete any part of an assessed piece, and no reputable tutor will.

  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback in writing
  • Research-question surgery before data collection, not after
  • Citation and referencing checked against the school's expectations
  • A clear record of what the student changed and why

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Wahda

01

What an Al Wahda parent is really asking when they search for a home tutor

  • The keyword is a search habit, not a delivery requirement
  • Online one-to-one is the only format we run for UAE families
  • Subject and level matching beats neighbourhood matching every time
  • Decide from the published rates below, not from a sales pitch

The search term is "IB home tutor in Al Wahda", but the question underneath it is almost never about location. It is: can someone who genuinely knows this syllabus start working with my child soon, and will it fit around the school day? Location is in the search only because that is how people have always found tutors. Answer the real question and the location part turns out to matter much less than a parent expects.

Here is the honest position. IB Gram does not run home visits in Abu Dhabi, or anywhere else in the UAE; that part of our service exists only in India. UAE tuition is delivered one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, with the lesson on your child's own laptop in whatever room is quiet at 5pm. We would rather state that in the first screen than bury it, because a family who wants someone physically in the room should know before they fill in a form.

What replaces the in-room tutor is a far bigger pool of the right teacher. A Higher Level Chemistry specialist, a Maths Analysis and Approaches HL teacher who has taught Paper 3, an Economics teacher who has marked commentaries: those people are scarce in any one neighbourhood and plentiful across a whole timezone. The parent who insists on physical proximity is, in practice, choosing from whoever is prepared to drive to Hazza Bin Zayed Street this week, and then paying extra for the drive.

The comparison tables further down this page set the two options side by side on cost, travel, tutor pool and rescheduling, using rates the providers themselves publish. Read them and decide. Plenty of Al Wahda families still prefer someone at the kitchen table, and that is a legitimate preference; we simply do not sell it here.

02

The Diploma calendar counted backwards, and what each date demands

Every Diploma deadline that matters sits inside a chain, and the chain runs backwards from the examination window. Abu Dhabi schools sit the May session, so the final Internal Assessment submissions, the Extended Essay upload and the Theory of Knowledge exhibition all land in the preceding months, and the school fixes its own internal dates earlier again to leave marking time. By the time a parent notices a problem in a report card, two or three of those internal dates have usually already gone.

This is why the useful question in November is not "how is my child doing" but "which of these dates is next, and what has to exist by then". A DP2 student eight weeks from a mock window needs timed papers. A DP2 student six weeks from an IA deadline needs a marked draft, not more teaching. A DP1 student needs neither, and selling either to them wastes a term.

The table below is the chain as an Abu Dhabi family will meet it. Note what it does not contain: specific IB examination and results dates. The IB publishes those to schools, and your child's coordinator holds the authoritative version against your candidate number. Any tutoring site quoting you an exact IB date, including this one, should be checked against the coordinator before you plan a holiday around it.

For Cambridge and Pearson qualifications, the position is different and public. Cambridge runs a June series and a November series for UAE centres, with every centre allocated to one of six administrative zones, and Cambridge states plainly that it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone timetable. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and in November. Those timetables live on the boards' own sites and should be read there rather than copied from a tutoring page.

What the next eight weeks have to achieve, by year group

  • DP2, Term 1: timed papers, one marked IA draft, a level-choice review
  • DP1: HL foundations, research questions, Extended Essay reading
  • Year 11 into DP1: close the named gap, then stop
  • Any plan should name what the student will have produced

Take a DP2 student in Term 1. Eight weeks is enough for one timed paper per subject with the marks dissected, one Internal Assessment lifted from unmarked draft to marked draft, and one genuine conversation about whether three Higher Levels is still the right shape. That is it. A plan that promises more in eight weeks is either padding the hours or ignoring the fact that the student also has school, Creativity Activity Service and sleep.

A DP1 student in the same eight weeks has a different list: the HL foundations that Year 13 will assume, the research question for at least one Internal Assessment, and the reading habit the Extended Essay will need. Nothing on that list is exam technique, and exam technique sold to a DP1 student in November is the single most common way Abu Dhabi families waste tutoring money.

A Year 11 student in an MYP or IGCSE year who is heading for the Diploma has a third list again: closing the specific gap between what they are finishing and what DP1 will assume. In maths that gap is usually algebraic fluency and function notation. In the sciences it is quantitative work and uncertainty. In English it is sustained analytical writing without a scaffold.

We write the eight-week plan down at the start, in plain language, with what the student will have produced by the end. If the plan is met early we say so and stop, and if the real problem turns out to be something a tutor cannot fix, such as a subject choice that was wrong from the start, we say that too and point you at the coordinator.

04

What tutoring actually costs in central Abu Dhabi, and who publishes the figures

Start with the monthly number, because that is the one a family budgets. A single weekly hour with a qualified subject tutor, at published market rates, lands somewhere between AED 600 and AED 1,200 a month, and an exam-year specialist running one hour a week sits nearer AED 1,000 to AED 2,000. Bestimate's Dubai rate work for 2026 puts budget weekly tutoring at AED 240-600 a month and mid-range at AED 600-1,200, which is the clearest published monthly framing available in this market.

Hourly figures matter because they are how everyone quotes. The cheapest end of the online market, usually university students, is advertised from AED 45-65 by EdFlik and from AED 33-52 by Tutopiya. Qualified subject tutors online are listed from AED 150 for IGCSE and AED 200 for IB by Unitors. TutorChase publishes AED 270 for specialist work. BartyED publishes AED 650 at the examiner-branded end. Those are the providers' own published numbers, read in October 2026, not ours.

The figure that deserves the most attention is the in-home band, quoted at AED 180-500 an hour, because part of it is travel rather than teaching. Monthly packages seen in this market include AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Divide either by the teaching minutes and the gap is the travel premium. Over an eight-week sprint that premium is roughly the cost of four additional teaching hours.

IB Gram does not publish a rate card on these pages, and we would be suspicious of a page that did while also claiming to be the cheapest. What we do instead is quote for the actual subject, level and frequency after a free trial lesson, so you are comparing a real number against the bands in the table rather than against a headline.

Al Wahda specifically: online against a tutor who drives to you

Al Wahda is a central, well-connected district, which cuts both ways. A tutor can reach it from most of the island in twenty minutes outside peak hours, and cannot reliably reach it in forty during the late-afternoon school and office overlap. Any parent who has waited on Airport Road at 5pm knows which of those is the real number on a Tuesday in term time.

That unreliability has a cost that is rarely priced. An in-home session booked for 4.30pm that starts at 4.50pm is not a 90-minute session, and across a term the lost minutes add up to a meaningful fraction of what you paid. An online session starts when the clock says so, from a bedroom desk, and the tutor is already set up with the past paper on screen.

The second difference is the pool. Ask for general maths help in central Abu Dhabi and you will find plenty of people. Ask for Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, with experience of Paper 3, and the local list shortens dramatically. Ask for Chemistry HL in the same week your child's school has announced a mock, and it may be empty. Online matching does not solve scarcity, but it draws from a timezone instead of a postcode.

The third is the record. Screen-shared sessions leave annotated scripts, saved plans and a trail a parent can actually look at. A verbal session at the dining table leaves a page of working and a memory. In a Diploma year, the trail is what makes the next eight weeks planned rather than improvised.

ADEK, inspection ratings, and how to read your school's report

  • ADEK licenses and inspects private schools in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain
  • KHDA is Dubai's regulator and SPEA is Sharjah's; the rules differ
  • Read the subject and phase detail, not only the headline band
  • No tutoring provider holds ADEK approval, ourselves included

In Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, private schools are licensed and inspected by ADEK, the Department of Education and Knowledge, which the UAE government describes as supervising the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. That is a different authority from Dubai's KHDA and from Sharjah's SPEA, and the distinction matters for Al Wahda parents because advice written for Dubai often does not apply here.

An inspection report is the single most useful free document a parent has, and most never open it past the headline band. The body of the report tells you something a band cannot: which subjects and which year groups the inspectors judged weaker, how the school performed on progress rather than attainment, and what it was told to improve since the last visit. A school rated well overall can still carry a specific weakness in Diploma sciences, and that weakness is exactly what a tutor is for.

Read your report with three questions. Where did inspectors say progress lagged attainment, because that is where able children are coasting? What did the report say about the Diploma or the secondary phase specifically, rather than the whole school? And which recommendations from the previous inspection were still outstanding? Three minutes of that beats an hour of discussing an overall grade.

One warning. No tutoring company is approved, licensed or endorsed by ADEK, KHDA, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and we are not either. Naming a regulator and explaining what it does is useful. A tutoring site claiming a regulator's blessing is telling you something that is not true, and it is the most common false claim in this market.

07

Academic honesty while the clock is running on an IA

  • A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback on the student's own work
  • No writing, no redrafting, no supplied data, no completed drafts
  • An honest session ends with a task list, not a better document
  • Authenticity declarations make a bought IA a Diploma-level risk

Deadline pressure is where academic honesty actually gets tested. A student three days from an Internal Assessment deadline with 1,200 words of a 2,000-word exploration is in the exact position where a dishonest offer looks like a lifeline, and this market contains providers who sell completed Internal Assessments outright. One of them advertises them at a fixed price. Buying that is malpractice under IB rules, and the consequence lands on the student, not the seller.

The legitimate line is clear enough to write down. A tutor may teach the underlying content, explain what each assessment criterion rewards, read a draft the student wrote and say which criterion is capping the mark, question a research question until it becomes answerable, and check that referencing meets the school's expectations. A tutor may not write any part of the piece, redraft sentences into their own prose, supply the data, or produce the work in any form.

In practice that distinction shows up in how a session ends. An honest IA hour ends with the student holding a list of things to go away and do. A dishonest one ends with a better document and a student who cannot explain how it got better. If your child cannot talk you through what changed and why, something has gone wrong regardless of what anyone promised.

This matters commercially as well as ethically. Schools in Abu Dhabi know the local market, coordinators read drafts they have seen develop, and the IB requires authenticity declarations. A paid-for IA is a risk to a student's entire Diploma. We would rather lose the booking than take it, and we say so plainly on every page.

08

Permits, Ramadan and the practical questions nobody answers

  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and valid for two years
  • No published fine schedule exists; ignore circulating figures
  • Abu Dhabi ethics rules bar teachers tutoring their own students for pay
  • Plan the post-Iftar slot before Ramadan starts, not during it

Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, it is granted free of charge for two years, and the eligible categories include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time, and the application goes through the MoHRE app, website or e-services system.

Two things follow for a parent. First, anyone offering paid private lessons in the UAE should hold that permit, and operating without one carries fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so treat any specific figure you read as unverified. Second, in Abu Dhabi, professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from paid tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct points the same way. A tutor offering to privately coach your child in a subject they also teach them in class is offering something they should not.

Ramadan reshapes the academic term every year, and the shift is predictable even though the dates move. School days shorten, energy drops in the afternoon, and the useful tutoring slot moves to after Iftar. Families in Al Wahda who plan that shift in advance keep momentum through a month that otherwise eats four weeks of a Diploma run-in. Families who do not plan it usually lose the sessions altogether.

The last practical question is what happens when nobody is available. Some Higher Level subjects have genuinely thin coverage, and in that case we say so rather than putting a generalist in front of your child. Sometimes the honest answer is a specialist in another timezone whose evening is your afternoon, and sometimes it is that we cannot help this term. Both answers are better than a mismatch you discover in February.

Where we tutor

Al Wahda and the rest of central Abu Dhabi

We teach across the emirate, and the practical difference between these communities is not our service but the school run and the time a session can realistically start. Here is how that plays out around Al Wahda.

Al Wahda

Dense apartment blocks around Al Wahda Mall and Hazza Bin Zayed Street. Short school runs to the island campuses, long ones to Saadiyat or Khalifa City. A 4.30pm start works for island schools; 5.30pm is safer if the bus comes off the bridge.

Al Rawdah

A quieter mix of villas and low-rise apartments immediately south of Al Wahda. The same island school pattern, slightly easier parking, and the same late-afternoon pinch on Airport Road.

Al Bateen

Older established villas on the western side of the island, close to several long-standing schools. Families here often have the shortest commute in the city and the earliest realistic session slot.

the Corniche

High-rise living along the waterfront. Evening sessions dominate because parents working in the central business district are rarely home before 6pm, and a shared desk needs a quiet room.

Al Reem Island

Newer towers a causeway from the island proper. The bridge traffic adds unpredictable minutes to a 3.30pm pick-up, which is why Al Reem families favour a fixed 6pm slot over a flexible one.

Saadiyat Island

Low-density villa communities with several newer international campuses on the doorstep. School days finish later here, and the sensible booking is after 5pm with a hard stop.

Khalifa City and Al Raha

Mainland villa suburbs with a heavy bus culture. A child can be on a bus for 45 minutes each way, so the gap between arriving home and starting work is short and should not be squeezed further.

Yas Island

A newer residential cluster with campuses still filling. Diploma cohorts are small, which makes niche HL subjects harder to staff locally and online matching more useful.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Wahda

Central Abu Dhabi island

The island's long-established schools draw most Al Wahda enrolment, and between them they cover both the British route to IGCSE and A Level and the IB Diploma. Students we support attend schools of this kind; we have no relationship with any of them.

  • Brighton College Abu Dhabi
  • Abu Dhabi International School
  • American Community School of Abu Dhabi
  • Al Muna Academy
  • Al Bateen Academy

Saadiyat, Al Raha and the Khalifa City corridor

The newer campuses out of the centre take a share of Al Wahda families who choose a longer bus ride for a specific programme. Diploma cohorts here are often small, which is precisely when a niche Higher Level is hard to staff from inside one neighbourhood.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the subject, the level and the next date

Not "maths help" but "Maths AA HL, mock in January, Paper 3 is the problem". The next fixed date in your child's school calendar does more to shape a plan than anything else you can tell us, and it takes a sentence to supply.

  2. 02

A free trial lesson with the proposed tutor

One real hour, teaching real content, with the teacher we think fits. You watch or you do not, as you prefer. At the end you get a short written read on where the gap actually is, and you decide whether to continue. No card details are needed to book it.

  3. 03

    An eight-week plan in writing

What will be covered, in what order, and what your child will have produced by the end of it. Written in language a parent can check, including which school deadlines it is built around and where the plan pauses for school examination weeks.

  4. 04

Weekly sessions with marked work between them

The same tutor, the same slot, with work set at the end of each hour and marked before the next one starts. Scripts and notes are saved, so what happened in week three is still readable in week eight when the mock results arrive.

  5. 05

A review at the end, and an honest stop

We check the plan against what actually happened, and if the job is done we say so. Ongoing tuition that no longer has a target is how families end up paying for a habit. If a different subject now needs the hour more, we move it.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched to the level, not the neighbourhood

Maths AA HL, Maths AI SL and MYP extended maths are three different teaching jobs. We match on the exact course and level your child is sitting, which is why a central Abu Dhabi family is not limited to the people prepared to drive to Al Wahda this week.

The calendar drives the plan

Plans here are built backwards from the next fixed date in your child's school calendar: the mock window, the IA submission, the registration deadline. A plan that ignores those dates will be overtaken by them, however good the teaching inside it is.

Rates you can check against the market

Every AED figure on this page is a rate somebody else published, with the publisher named and the month it was read. Our own quote comes after a trial lesson, for your child's actual subject and frequency, so you can hold it against those bands.

A hard line on assessed work

Feedback on your child's own drafts, criterion by criterion, and nothing beyond that. We do not write, redraft or supply coursework, and we will explain why to any student who asks. In a market that contains sellers of completed Internal Assessments, that line is the product.

Delivery stated before you enquire

UAE lessons are one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. In-home visits are an India-only part of our service, and nobody is sent to an Abu Dhabi address. You know the format before you spend a minute on a form.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Wahda: your questions answered

Can IB Gram send an IB home tutor to an apartment in Al Wahda?+

No. Home visits are a service we run only in India, and nobody is sent to an address in Abu Dhabi or anywhere else in the UAE. Tuition for Al Wahda families is one-to-one over live video, scheduled in Gulf Standard Time, on your child's own laptop. We state that before you enquire because a family who wants a person physically in the room deserves to know immediately. What the online format buys you is choice of teacher: the Higher Level specialist your child needs rather than whoever will drive into central Abu Dhabi at five o'clock.

Which IB examination session do Abu Dhabi Diploma students actually sit?+

Abu Dhabi schools run their Diploma cohorts to the May session. We deliberately do not publish exact IB examination or results dates on this page, because the IB issues the timetable to schools and your child's coordinator holds the authoritative version against the candidate number. Treat any tutoring site that quotes you a precise IB date as a source to check rather than trust. For Cambridge and Pearson qualifications the position is public: Cambridge runs June and November series for UAE centres, and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November.

My child has just started DP1 at a central Abu Dhabi school. Is it too early for a tutor?+

It is the right time for the right kind of tutoring and the wrong time for exam technique. DP1 hours are well spent on the Higher Level foundations Year 13 will assume, on getting at least one Internal Assessment research question to something answerable, and on building the reading habit the Extended Essay needs. Those three things decide more of a final grade than any amount of past-paper drilling in the first year. Selling a DP1 student a paper-technique package in November is the most common way money gets wasted in this market.

What can eight weeks of tutoring realistically achieve for a DP2 student?+

One timed past paper per subject, properly marked and dissected rather than just completed. One Internal Assessment moved from an unmarked draft to a draft that has been read against the criteria. And one honest conversation about whether the current spread of Higher Levels is still right. That is a genuine eight weeks for a student who also has school, Creativity Activity Service and sleep. Anybody promising substantially more is either padding hours or ignoring the rest of your child's week.

How much should an Al Wahda family budget per month for IB tutoring?+

On published market rates, one weekly hour with a qualified subject tutor works out at roughly AED 600 to AED 1,200 a month, and an exam-year specialist nearer AED 1,000 to AED 2,000. Bestimate's 2026 rate work puts budget weekly tutoring at AED 240-600 monthly. Monthly packages advertised in this market include AED 799 for eight online sessions and AED 1,599-1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions. Those are other providers' numbers, read in October 2026. Our own quote follows a free trial lesson and reflects the actual subject, level and frequency.

Can a tutor help with my daughter's Maths Analysis and Approaches Internal Assessment?+

Yes, within clear limits. A tutor can teach the mathematics involved, explain what each criterion rewards, interrogate the research question before any work is wasted, read a draft your daughter has written and say which criterion is holding the mark down, and check the referencing against her school's expectations. A tutor cannot write any part of the exploration, redraft her sentences, or supply the work. The test is simple: after the session she should be able to explain to you what she is going to change and why.

What does ADEK's inspection rating actually tell me about my child's school?+

Less than the report behind it. ADEK licenses and inspects private schools in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, and the full report tells you which phases and subjects inspectors judged weaker, whether progress kept up with attainment, and what the school was told to improve last time. A school with a strong overall band can still carry a specific weakness in Diploma sciences. Read for the place where progress lagged attainment: that is usually where an able child is coasting, and it is exactly what tutoring is for.

Do private tutors in Abu Dhabi need a government permit?+

Yes. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day turnaround. Anyone tutoring for payment without the permit is subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, though no fine schedule is published, so any specific amount you see quoted online is unverified.

Can Al Wahda sessions move to after Iftar during Ramadan?+

Yes, and families who arrange it in advance keep their momentum through the month. School days shorten during Ramadan and afternoon concentration drops, so the useful slot moves to the evening after Iftar. Because lessons are online, moving the slot is a scheduling change rather than a logistics problem for anybody's driver. Al Wahda families in a Diploma year should fix the Ramadan timetable before the month begins; the alternative is usually four weeks of cancelled sessions at precisely the point when the run-in matters.

What happens if no tutor is available for Physics HL this term?+

We tell you, rather than putting a generalist in front of your child. Some Higher Level subjects genuinely have thin coverage in any given term, and the honest options are a specialist in another timezone whose evening falls in your child's afternoon, a short wait for a slot to open, or a straight no from us. All three beat a mismatch that you discover in February when the mock results come back. We would rather decline the booking than take it on and hope.

How late in DP2 can my child drop a subject from Higher to Standard Level?+

That is a school decision, not a tutoring one, and it is governed by the registration your coordinator submits inside IB deadlines. Practically, the window closes in Term 1 of DP2, which is why a level review belongs in the first eight weeks of that year rather than after the mocks. Ask your coordinator for the exact cut-off for your cohort. If the honest answer is that three Higher Levels was always one too many, no amount of tutoring substitutes for making that change in time.

Will a tutor follow my child's school scheme of work or a generic syllabus order?+

Your child's. The point of weekly one-to-one is that it moves at the pace of the actual class, so a gap gets caught in the week it appears instead of in the mock. That means we want the school's unit order, the dates of internal assessments and school examination weeks, and the teacher's own feedback where you have it. Tutoring that runs on a different timetable from the classroom produces a student doing two courses at once, which is more work and less progress.

My son has never had an online lesson. Will it work for him?+

The honest answer is that it works for most students and not for all, which is why the trial lesson exists. What makes it work is a quiet room, a laptop rather than a phone, headphones, and a tutor who shares a screen and writes on the work instead of talking at a camera. What breaks it is a tired student at nine o'clock, a shared living room, and a session with no task set at the end. Try one real hour and judge from that rather than from the idea of it.

What will my child need for UAE Ministry of Education equivalency after the Diploma?+

Equivalency is a Ministry process, not something a tutoring company performs or guarantees, and the requirements differ by curriculum. For the British route the published rule is five accredited IGCSE or GCSE subjects at no less than grade E or 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count, plus one A Level at E or two AS Levels. For the IB route we deliberately publish no points figure, because we have not read one on an official Ministry source. Verify your child's position with the Ministry's own channel.

Start with the next date in your child's calendar

If your child is in DP2, the useful first message names the subject, the level and the next fixed date: a mock window, an Internal Assessment deadline, a registration cut-off. If your child is in DP1, say that instead, and we will plan foundations rather than sell technique. Either way the first hour is a free trial lesson with the teacher we think fits, taught one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and it ends with a short written read on where the gap actually sits. No payment details are needed to book it, and an Al Wahda family can have that hour inside the week.
