IB Home Tutor in Khalifa City

Asking for an IB home tutor in Khalifa City is usually a question about the evening rather than about the subject. After the bus, after food, after a Creativity Activity Service commitment and three subjects of homework, which hour is actually left. This page works through a real Khalifa City week in hours, says where a tutoring session can go without breaking something else, and delivers the teaching itself live online, one to one.

IB & IGCSE in Khalifa City

Work out the hour before you choose the tutor

Khalifa City is a large low-rise community inland from the Abu Dhabi islands, with several well-known schools inside it and others a short drive away. That geography is kinder than most of the emirate: journeys are generally short, and many children attend school within the community itself. The limiting factor on tutoring here is therefore rarely the road. It is what else is already in the week.

A Diploma student carries six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity Activity Service. Add school contact time, travel, homework, a sport or a musical instrument and eight hours of sleep, and the discretionary hours left in a week are fewer than most parents assume. A tutoring session does not arrive in empty space; it displaces something, and it is worth knowing what.

That is why this page starts with arithmetic rather than with an argument about formats. Later on there is a table setting out where a Khalifa City Diploma week's hours actually go. Families who run that exercise before booking tend to make one of two sensible choices: they drop a commitment deliberately, or they choose one subject rather than three. Families who skip it tend to cut sleep, which costs more than the session gains.

The second thing this page does is set out the bell times and bus patterns across the schools Khalifa City feeds, because the useful hour varies more than you would expect across a single community. A student at a school inside Khalifa City can be home at 15:00. A student travelling to Al Bateen or Al Mushrif can be home at 16:30. Those two households need different session times and often get offered the same one, because a tutor driving between addresses is selling the hours a route allows rather than the hours a student can use.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Abu Dhabi, or anywhere else in the UAE. In-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. What we deliver to Khalifa City is one-to-one teaching over live video, which matters here less for the travel saving and more for the hour: a 19:45 Tuesday is exactly as easy for us to staff as a 16:30 one, and the second of those is unusable for a student who is still in a minibus.

The rest of the page covers the schools and what each does to an evening, the weekly hours budget, how Creativity Activity Service and sport compete for the same slot, how to read a school report before buying anything, what the market charges for a visit in this part of Abu Dhabi, and the line a tutor does not cross on assessed work. Every figure carries the source it came from and the month it was read.

At a glance

  • Khalifa City journeys are short; the constraint is the rest of the week
  • A tutoring hour displaces something, and it should not be sleep
  • Home-by times vary from 15:00 to 16:30 within one community
  • In-home visits in Abu Dhabi are quoted at roughly AED 180-500 an hour in the market
  • Lessons here are live one-to-one video; home visits are India-only
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

The four IB stages make very different demands on a household's week, and the right amount of support is set by what else is already committed rather than by the programme name.

PYPAges 3-12 · FS1 to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

No external assessment and a light homework load, which makes this the stage with genuine space in the week. The useful work is arithmetic fluency and sentence construction, both of which respond to short frequent practice. Nothing here needs to displace anything, which is why it is the cheapest useful tutoring a family ever buys.

Khalifa City primary pupils mostly attend schools inside the community or minutes away, and are often home before 15:00 with the afternoon clear. Two twenty-minute sessions a week fit comfortably, and at this age they beat a single hour because a nine-year-old's attention on arithmetic does not last sixty minutes.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Four criteria per subject, each out of eight, converted into a one-to-seven grade. The week fills noticeably from the third year onwards as extended tasks and the community project arrive. Criterion coaching is the work that pays, and it needs a session where the student is alert enough to read a strand carefully.

Middle Years students in Khalifa City typically have a usable 16:30 slot, which is earlier than their Diploma siblings and earlier than most of Abu Dhabi. Use it: criteria-based writing work degrades badly when attempted at nine in the evening, and the alternative slot is a Saturday morning.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and Creativity Activity Service, to a maximum of 45 points including up to three from the core. This is the stage where the week genuinely runs out of room, and where a decision about what to drop usually has to be made explicitly.

Khalifa City Diploma students attending schools inside the community are commonly home by 15:30; those travelling to Al Bateen, Al Mushrif or the islands are closer to 16:30. Both groups then have Creativity Activity Service commitments and homework, which is why 19:30 and Saturday morning are the two slots that actually survive a busy fortnight.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Diploma courses combined with career-related study and a reflective project. Rare in Abu Dhabi, and where a school runs it the Diploma courses inside are examined on the same papers with the same weightings and the same Internal Assessments. The weekly load is usually lighter than a full Diploma, which changes what is schedulable.

Few Khalifa City schools run the Career-related Programme, so most families here are comparing the Diploma with A Levels or an American diploma. If your child is on it, say so when booking, because the component weightings a tutor plans around are the Diploma ones even though the overall qualification differs.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the Diploma subjects Khalifa City families ask about most, with the part of each that justifies taking an hour out of an already full week.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Higher Level adds Paper 3, worth a fifth of the grade, a long scaffolded investigation with no Standard Level equivalent. It needs its own practice and it is the component most commonly deferred, which makes it the strongest single case for a fixed weekly slot.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Every paper permits a calculator, so menu fluency is examinable rather than convenient. A large share of lost marks is calculator technique, which is fast to fix and therefore a good use of a short session rather than a long one.

Physics

HL and SL

Paper 1 is thirty-six per cent across multiple-choice and data-based sections, Paper 2 forty-four, the investigation twenty. Uncertainty propagation and gradient interpretation decide a large share of the data marks, and both reward weekly repetition.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic mechanisms and equilibrium carry the Higher Level difficulty. The habitual loss is moles arithmetic written without units or significant figures, which is a discipline fixable in short sessions rather than long ones.

Biology

HL and SL

The highest-volume science, where terminology precision rather than understanding decides marks. Short timed recall twice a week outperforms a single long session by a wide margin, which suits a packed Khalifa City week unusually well.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy earns marks before prose is read and is the quickest available gain in the subject. Higher Level adds Paper 3, a quantitative policy paper whose arithmetic demand is specific and drillable rather than general.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Two papers plus the Individual Oral, with an extra essay at Higher Level. The Individual Oral is the component prepared worst because it feels informal; it is a rehearsed ten-minute argument and needs a slot where the student can speak aloud without an audience.

Theory of Knowledge

Core, all DP candidates

A sixteen-hundred-word essay on a prescribed title plus an exhibition of three objects. It competes for hours with six subjects and is therefore the first thing dropped. A small number of sessions on argument structure is unusually efficient here.

Extended Essay

Core, all DP candidates

Four thousand words of supervised independent research, combining with Theory of Knowledge for up to three bonus points. The marks are decided by the research question in the first fortnight, so early hours are worth several times late ones on this component.

Arabic as an additional language

MYP and DP ab initio or B

Mandatory alongside the licensed curriculum in UAE private schools, with separate provision for Arab and non-Arab students. It sits in the week all year rather than peaking, so short regular oral practice beats an exam-term push.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, chosen by how much room the week genuinely has. The first question is not which subject but how many hours exist, and the answer is usually smaller than expected.

One fixed weekly hour, protected

A single subject in a single slot, agreed once and defended. The virtue is that it survives a busy fortnight. A floating session is the one that gets cancelled when a deadline arrives, and the weeks that get cancelled are exactly the weeks before a deadline, which is when it was needed most.

  • One subject, one hour, the same time every week
  • Chosen from the bus arrival rather than the bell
  • Works from the student's own school material and deadlines
  • Rescheduling without charge up to the stated notice period

Two short sessions instead of one long one

Forty-five minutes twice a week, which suits mathematics and the sciences where accuracy consolidates between contacts. It fits a full week better than a ninety-minute block because two short holes are easier to find than one large one, and a tired student gets less from the second half of a long session anyway.

  • Two shorter contacts, easier to place in a committed week
  • Problems set between sessions and marked at the next
  • Suits accuracy and fluency work better than one long block
  • Saved whiteboard work after every session

Saturday morning block

One longer session at 10:00 on a Saturday, for extended work that a weekday evening cannot support: an Internal Assessment draft, an Extended Essay section, a full timed paper. The student is rested, the household is not mid-week, and this is reliably the session least likely to be cancelled.

  • 90 minutes with a rested student, not a recovering one
  • Suits Internal Assessment and Extended Essay work specifically
  • Full timed papers, which no weekday evening accommodates
  • The most reliably kept slot in an Abu Dhabi week

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Khalifa City

01

Can you get an IB home tutor in Khalifa City, and should the session be at home at all

  • Market in-home rates in the Emirates run roughly AED 180-500 an hour with travel
  • IB Gram delivers to Khalifa City on live video only; visits are India-only
  • The hours that survive a Diploma week are late, which suits video
  • A young child who needs presence should have presence; we will say so

In-home tutoring exists in Khalifa City and the market price is knowable. In-home one-to-one visits across the Emirates are quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel priced in, per the Bestimate rate table at AED 180 to 350 and independent home tutors advertising AED 200 to 500. Khalifa City is inland and well served, so the travel loading here is lower than for the island communities.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in Abu Dhabi. In-home tutoring is a service we run only in India, and that is the position across every country page on this site. What we deliver to Khalifa City is one-to-one teaching over live video, with a shared whiteboard and the student's own school material on screen.

The reason that suits Khalifa City specifically is about the hour rather than the money. The real constraint in this community is not distance but the density of a Diploma week, and the hours that actually survive are late: 19:30 on a weekday, 10:00 on a Saturday. Those are difficult hours for a visiting tutor to offer and trivial hours for us to staff, because nobody is driving to or from anywhere.

The honest case for a visit still exists. For a younger child, or a student who will not stay at the table without an adult physically present, somebody in the room can decide the outcome and no amount of video quality replaces it. If that describes your child, you want a provider who does visits, and we would rather say so than persuade you into a format that will not work.

02

Khalifa City bell times and the hour that actually survives

Home-by times vary more inside this one community than families expect, and the variation decides the schedule. A student at a school within Khalifa City or minutes away can be through the door by 15:00 or 15:30. A student travelling to Al Bateen, Al Mushrif or across the bridges is closer to 16:30, and may have a Creativity Activity Service commitment at school before that journey even starts.

The table below sets out the pattern. It is not an argument for booking late for its own sake; some students work well at 16:30 and should be booked then. It is a correction to the default assumption that a late-afternoon slot works for everybody, which is the assumption most agencies make because it suits a tutor driving between two addresses.

The single most useful thing a parent can supply when booking is the actual arrival time rather than the preferred start time. A tutor who knows the student walks in at 16:20 plans a different first ten minutes from one who assumes a 15:30 finish. That one sentence removes most of the back-and-forth and prevents the first fortnight being spent discovering the schedule does not work.

Friday deserves a mention because it is underused. Most Abu Dhabi private schools finish around midday on a Friday and the weekend runs Saturday and Sunday, which makes a Saturday 10:00 block the one session in the week with a rested student in it. Families who move their heaviest subject there report it as the session that gets cancelled least.

Where a Khalifa City Diploma week's hours actually go

This is the exercise almost no family runs and almost every family benefits from. Write down the week as it is, in hours, before deciding how much tutoring to buy. School contact time, travel, homework and reading, Creativity Activity Service, any sport or instrument, and eight hours of sleep a night. Then look at what is left.

The number is usually smaller than expected, and the discovery changes the decision. A household that finds six discretionary hours in the week does not buy three subjects of tutoring; it buys one, and perhaps drops something. A household that cannot find any hours without cutting sleep has a workload problem rather than a tutoring problem, and buying hours will make the grades worse rather than better.

That second case is more common than providers admit. A Diploma student sleeping six hours and underperforming is not short of teaching. The honest advice there is to reduce the load, talk to the school about the Higher Level combination, and come back to tutoring afterwards. We would rather say that in a free trial lesson than take a year of fees for an engagement that was never going to work.

Where there is room, the arithmetic also tells you the format. Two short sessions fit a full week better than one long one, because two forty-five-minute holes are easier to find than a ninety-minute block. And a Saturday morning is additive rather than displacing, which is why it is the slot we suggest first for extended work.

A DIPLOMA WEEK IN HOURS, KHALIFA CITY
CommitmentTypical hours a weekHow flexibleWhat a tutoring hour would displace

04

Creativity Activity Service and sport compete for the same slot

  • Creativity Activity Service is a requirement and cannot be traded away
  • Sport and music are the commitments usually sacrificed, often by drift
  • A Saturday morning session is additive rather than displacing
  • An overloaded student needs a conversation with the school, not more hours

Creativity Activity Service is a Diploma requirement rather than an extra, which means it cannot simply be dropped to make room. It typically consumes two to four hours a week and is often scheduled at school, immediately after the day ends, which extends the effective school day for exactly the students who already travel furthest.

Sport and music are different: they are genuinely optional and they are usually the thing a household sacrifices when a grade slips. That trade should be made consciously rather than by drift. A student who gives up the one commitment that gets them outdoors and away from a screen in order to add a weekly tutoring hour has not obviously improved their position, and the effect on sleep and mood is real.

The practical resolution in Khalifa City households tends to be one of three. Move the tutoring to a Saturday morning, which is additive rather than displacing. Reduce the training commitment by one session a week rather than abandoning it. Or accept one subject of tutoring instead of two, which is almost always the better of the available compromises.

Where a student is in an examination year and genuinely overloaded, the conversation worth having is with the school about the Higher Level combination rather than with a tutor about hours. Three Higher Levels is the requirement; which three, and whether a student should be carrying a particular one, is a decision the school can revisit in the first Diploma year and almost never does unprompted.

05

Reading the school report before you buy anything

Most tutoring decisions in Khalifa City are triggered by a report, and most reports are read for the grade alone. A report contains considerably more usable information than that, and reading it properly often changes what should be bought, or whether anything should be bought at all.

Look for four things. A grade compared against the same subject a term earlier, which tells you about direction rather than level. A predicted grade compared against the current one, which tells you what the teacher thinks is reachable. Effort or engagement indicators, because a strong grade with weak engagement and a weak grade with strong engagement are completely different problems. And any comment naming a specific component or skill.

That fourth item is the one worth chasing. A comment saying extended written answers lack development is a diagnosis you can act on; a comment saying should continue to work hard is not. If the report contains nothing specific, email the subject teacher and ask one question: which component or skill is costing the marks. Teachers answer that question well and parents rarely ask it.

Abu Dhabi private schools are supervised by the Department of Education and Knowledge, which u.ae describes as supervising the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. A school-level evaluation outcome is a whole-school judgement across every phase and subject, and your child sits in one subject in one year group, so it tells you far less about their lessons than the subject report does. Read the subject detail and check the date on anything published.

What the market charges around Khalifa City

Three of the six best-ranked tutoring pages for Abu Dhabi queries publish no price at all, and the two that do quote in US dollars, which no Khalifa City family transacts in. This section publishes the dirham bands with the source of each, so you can measure any quote you receive, including ours, against something checkable.

At the entry level, university-student tutors online advertise from around AED 33 to 52 at Tutopiya and AED 45 to 65 at EdFlik on their own pages. That band buys supervision and fluency work, which is genuinely useful for a Middle Years student or a primary pupil and is the wrong purchase for a Higher Level Diploma component eight weeks out.

The middle band, a qualified subject tutor online at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, is where most useful Diploma support sits, with Unitors publishing IB from AED 200 and TutorChase quoting around AED 270. At one weekly session that is roughly AED 600 to 1,200 a month on Bestimate's own mid-band estimate. Specialists run AED 200 to 450 and above; premium named tutors have been quoted to AED 650 at BartyED.

In-home visits in Abu Dhabi are quoted at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel priced in, with monthly in-home packages seen at AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour sessions. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Abu Dhabi; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. None of the figures in this section is an IB Gram price list.

Academic honesty, permits, and what we will not claim

  • Teaching, questioning and criterion feedback: appropriate and effective
  • Writing, drafting or editing assessed work to completion: never, at any price
  • The MoHRE permit is free, valid two years, and worth asking to see
  • No regulator accredits IB Gram and there is no Abu Dhabi office

Work submitted for IB assessment must be the student's own, and the boundary is worth stating plainly because parts of this market blur it. A tutor may teach content, explain what each criterion rewards, question whether a research question is answerable, suggest reading, model technique on a different example, and say why a paragraph is weak. All of that raises marks legitimately.

No tutor at IB Gram will write an Internal Assessment, draft an Extended Essay, compose a Theory of Knowledge essay or produce coursework. We do not sell completed assessments at any price. One operation in this market openly offers finished Internal Assessments, and the consequence of that falls on the student as a malpractice finding rather than on the seller.

On permits, the position in the UAE is clear and usable as a screening tool. Private tutoring is regulated by permit: the MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years, with eligibility extending to school and government teachers, private and public-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Those tutoring without one face fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no amount should be quoted.

Abu Dhabi adds a layer. Press reporting indicates that ADEK's professional-ethics rules prohibit private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and that the permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Treat that as press-reported and verify the current policy if it matters. Either way, it is an arrangement we never facilitate, and no regulator or examination board accredits IB Gram.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Khalifa City

Khalifa City sits inland, between the airport road and the bridges to the islands. These are the communities it shares schools and evening congestion with, and what differs practically for scheduling.

Al Raha Gardens

A short drive towards the coast, with an IB continuum school at the centre of the community. Al Raha Gardens and Khalifa City families frequently share schools in both directions, so their usable hours are close to identical.

Al Raha Beach

Waterfront apartments sharing road access with Al Raha Gardens. Al Raha Beach students attending Khalifa City schools are home within minutes of their Khalifa City classmates, so demand peaks in the same slots.

Al Reef

Further out towards the airport, with longer journeys. Al Reef students attending Khalifa City schools are commonly home after 16:00, which pushes their sessions to 18:00 and later and takes them out of the busiest window.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Inland with a large school population and a substantial local tutor supply. Students travelling from here into Khalifa City schools face a modest run, and the reverse journey in the afternoon is the slower one.

Saadiyat Island

Across the bridges, with its own provision. Relevant because Saadiyat and Khalifa City households compete for the same specialist hours in the 17:00 to 20:00 window, which is when both are free.

Yas Island

Island residential districts with their own schools plus a bridge crossing. Yas students attending Khalifa City schools have the longest afternoon return in this group and usually fix an evening slot for the year.

Al Reem Island

Tower living with a bridge crossing to the mainland. Al Reem students finish on broadly similar timetables, so they want the same evening hours Khalifa City families want.

Al Bateen and Al Mushrif

Established inner districts with long-standing British and American schools. Khalifa City students travelling in this direction are the latest home in the community, commonly 16:30, which decides their whole schedule.

School ecosystem

Schools inside and immediately around Khalifa City

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the bus arrival, not the preferred time

Tell us the school, the year group, the bell time and when your child actually walks through the door. Within Khalifa City that ranges from 15:00 to 16:45 depending on which school, and the difference decides whether a 17:30 slot is workable or theoretical.

  2. 02

Write the week down in hours

School, travel, homework, Creativity Activity Service, sport and sleep. Then look at what is left. Most households find fewer discretionary hours than expected, and that number should decide how many subjects to support rather than the number of subjects causing worry.

  3. 03

Send the report and the last marked work

We read the report for direction, prediction, effort and any comment naming a component, and the marked work for the pattern of lost marks. Together those two documents usually produce a specific brief in twenty minutes.

  4. 04

    Take the free trial lesson

One per family, before any payment and with no card details taken. The useful test afterwards is whether the tutor named something specific to change and whether your child explained something back that they could not an hour earlier.

  5. 05

Protect the slot for eight weeks

Agree one hour and defend it, including through the fortnight when a deadline arrives, because that is exactly the fortnight it was bought for. At eight weeks review against new marked work rather than impressions, and change the tutor or the plan if the lost marks have not moved.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The hour comes before the tutor

In Khalifa City home-by times range from 15:00 to 16:45 across one community, and Creativity Activity Service extends the day for the students who travel furthest. Because teaching is on video, a 19:45 Tuesday is exactly as easy to staff as a 16:30 one.

The week costed before anything is bought

We put the week down in hours with you, including sleep, before agreeing how many subjects to support. If the arithmetic shows there is no room without cutting sleep, we will say that tutoring is the wrong purchase right now.

Reports read for the useful line

A grade is the least informative thing on a report. Direction, prediction, effort and any comment naming a component are what matter, and where nothing specific is written we tell you exactly which question to email the subject teacher.

Prices published with sources

Every dirham figure here belongs to a named provider or a published rate table with the month it was read, and none is our price list. Three of the best-ranked pages in this market publish no price at all and two quote in US dollars.

The honesty line written down

A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback on the student's own work. Nobody here writes an Internal Assessment, drafts an Extended Essay or produces coursework, and we never facilitate tutoring by a teacher from the child's own school.

Nothing claimed that cannot be shown

No regulator or examination board accredits IB Gram, there is no Abu Dhabi office, no provider can guarantee a grade including us, and no statistic appears on this page without its source and date.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Khalifa City: your questions answered

What time should an IB home tutor in Khalifa City actually start?+

It depends which school your child attends, and the range inside this one community is wide. A student at a school within Khalifa City can be home by 15:00 to 15:30, which makes 16:30 realistic for a Middle Years student and 17:30 for a Diploma one. A student travelling to Al Bateen, Al Mushrif or across the bridges is closer to 16:30, often after a Creativity Activity Service commitment at school, and for them 19:30 is the slot that survives a busy fortnight.

Does IB Gram send a tutor to a Khalifa City villa?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits in Abu Dhabi or anywhere in the UAE; in-home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Lessons for Khalifa City families are one to one over live video with a shared whiteboard and your child's own school material on screen. The practical advantage here is the hour rather than the money: the slots that survive a Diploma week are late, and those are difficult for a visiting tutor and trivial for us.

How many hours a week does a Diploma student actually have free?+

Fewer than most parents expect. Thirty to thirty-five hours of school contact time, four to eight travelling depending on the school, ten to fifteen on homework and Internal Assessment work, two to four on Creativity Activity Service, three to six on sport or music, and fifty-six on sleep at eight hours a night. Write that down before buying tutoring. Households that run the arithmetic usually buy one subject rather than three, which is almost always the better decision.

What should a tutoring hour displace in a full Khalifa City week?+

Not sleep, which is the trade most households make by accident and the one that costs more than the session gains. A tired student learns less than an untaught one. The honest options are to move the session to a Saturday morning, which is additive rather than displacing, to reduce a sport or music commitment by one session rather than abandoning it, or to support one subject instead of two. All three are better than borrowing from the night.

Can Creativity Activity Service be dropped to make room for tutoring?+

No, because it is a Diploma requirement rather than an extra. It typically consumes two to four hours a week and is often scheduled at school immediately after the day ends, which extends the effective day for exactly the students who already travel furthest. That is why it appears in the weekly hours table as fixed rather than flexible, and why the realistic trades sit elsewhere in the week.

My son sleeps six hours and his grades are falling, so how much tutoring does he need?+

Probably none yet. A student sleeping six hours and underperforming is not short of teaching, and adding an hour will make the position worse rather than better. The conversation worth having is with the school about the Higher Level combination and the overall load, which schools can revisit in the first Diploma year and rarely do unprompted. We would rather tell you that in a free trial lesson than take a year of fees for an engagement that cannot work.

Why is Saturday morning the slot you recommend first?+

Because it is the only hour in an Abu Dhabi week with a rested student in it. Most private schools finish around midday on a Friday and the weekend runs Saturday and Sunday, so a 10:00 Saturday session catches a student before the week has restarted. It is also additive rather than displacing: it does not compete with homework, training or sleep. Families report it as the session least likely to be cancelled, which matters most in the fortnight before a deadline.

How should I read my daughter's school report before booking anything?+

Look for four things rather than one. The grade compared against the same subject a term earlier, which shows direction. The predicted grade against the current one, which shows what the teacher thinks is reachable. Effort indicators, because a weak grade with strong effort and a strong grade with weak effort are different problems. And any comment naming a specific component or skill, which is the most useful line in the document and the brief for any tutoring.

What if the report says nothing specific about the problem?+

Email the subject teacher one question: which component or skill is costing the marks. Teachers answer that question well and parents almost never ask it, usually because reports feel like finished documents rather than the start of a conversation. A reply naming extended written answers, or data analysis, or unshown working, is a tutoring brief you can act on. A reply saying your child should continue to work hard is not, and tells you to ask again differently.

Does a school evaluation rating tell me about my child's lessons?+

Much less than most parents assume. Abu Dhabi private schools are supervised by the Department of Education and Knowledge, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate, and a school-level evaluation outcome is a whole-school judgement across every phase and subject. Your child sits in one subject in one year group. The subject-level report and the teacher's own comment tell you considerably more, and anything published should be checked for its date.

Is one long session or two short ones better in a packed week?+

Two short ones, for two reasons. Practically, two forty-five-minute holes are easier to find in a committed week than a single ninety-minute block. Educationally, accuracy and fluency work consolidates in the gap between contacts, so two sessions halve that gap and double the number of times a recurring error is caught. The exception is extended work, an Internal Assessment draft or a full timed paper, which needs a Saturday morning rather than a weekday evening.

What do Khalifa City families typically pay for Diploma support?+

At published market bands rather than ours, a qualified subject tutor online runs roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, which is about AED 600 to 1,200 a month for one weekly session on Bestimate's mid-band estimate. Student tutors online advertise from around AED 33 to 65, specialists sit at AED 200 to 450 and above, and in-home visits are quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included. Measure any quote, including ours, against those figures.

Is it allowed for a Khalifa City teacher to tutor their own pupil for a fee?+

You should assume not. Press reporting indicates ADEK's professional-ethics rules prohibit private and charter school staff from providing paid private tutoring to students enrolled at their own school, and that the MoHRE permit's code of conduct also bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. Treat that as press-reported rather than exact regulatory wording and verify the current policy if it matters. Either way, it is an arrangement we never facilitate and never advertise.

Will a tutor help with my daughter's Internal Assessment draft?+

With feedback, yes; with writing, never. A tutor can explain what each criterion rewards, question whether her research question is answerable, suggest reading, and tell her which section is weak and why so that she can fix it herself. Nobody at IB Gram writes an Internal Assessment, drafts an Extended Essay or produces coursework at any price. The school supervisor signs the work off and should know outside support exists; concealment creates a risk that falls on her.

What if you cannot staff the late slot we need?+

We tell you rather than offering a time that will not work. Late weekday evenings and Saturday mornings are the two windows most in demand across Abu Dhabi, and Khalifa City competes with Saadiyat, Al Reem, Yas and Al Raha households for them. Common subjects usually match within a few days; a narrow Higher Level combination at one fixed hour can take longer. Being told early leaves you time to look elsewhere while it still matters.

Send the arrival time and the week

Two things make a first conversation productive: when your child actually gets through the door in Khalifa City, and the week written down in hours including sleep. From those we can tell you which slot will survive a busy fortnight, how many subjects the week can genuinely support, and whether tutoring is the right purchase at all right now. Then your child meets a specialist on a free trial lesson before anything is paid. Lessons run live online, one to one, at the hour your household can keep.
