IB & IGCSE in Al Ghadeer

Start with the annual figure, not the hourly rate

Nobody buys an hour of tuition. Families buy a term or a year, usually without ever seeing that number written down, and the hourly rate is a poor guide to it because the rates in this market span more than a factor of ten and the inclusions differ at every level. The honest way to start a conversation about cost is to annualise it, and that is what the first table on this page does, using published monthly estimates rather than our own figures.

Al Ghadeer sits on the boundary between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, a mixed community of townhouses and apartments on the corridor, with many households working on the Dubai side and some using schools there. That position produces a specific cost effect: families here are routinely quoted against both emirates' markets, and Dubai rates are the ones most visible online. A parent comparing a Dubai-advertised home tutor against an Abu Dhabi school fee cycle is comparing two different markets without realising it.

The second thing worth establishing early is what the money actually buys, because that varies more than the price does. At the budget end an hour is typically a review of homework the student has already attempted. In the middle band a tutor teaches the specification and marks written work between sessions. At specialist level the fee buys judgement: which tier, which topics to abandon, which papers to sit, what the mark scheme rewards. Those are three different products and all three are advertised in the same language.

Delivery, stated plainly: IB Gram does not offer home visits in Al Ghadeer or anywhere in the UAE, because home visiting is a service we run only in India. Lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. The relevant cost point is that published in-home visiting rates in the emirate run from AED 180 to 350 an hour in survey data and from AED 200 to 500 among independent home tutors, against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor online, and from a boundary community the difference is substantially a journey.

This page also sets out the options that cost nothing or almost nothing, because a cost page that only discusses paid options is a brochure. A school's own intervention class is free, taught by somebody who knows the specification and has seen the student's work, and for a procedural or terminology gap it is frequently the best available option at any price. Retrieval practice costs nothing. Reading a mark scheme costs nothing. All three should be exhausted before a family commits several thousand dirhams a year.

Every AED figure here belongs to the market, is attributed to a named published source, and was read in October 2026. Where an annual figure appears it is our own arithmetic on a published monthly estimate and is labelled as such. None of it is IB Gram's price list, and on the VAT treatment of tuition fees in the UAE we state no position, because that is a question for the Federal Tax Authority.

At a glance

  • Annualised figures make a tuition decision comparable with other household education spending
  • The same hourly rate can buy a homework review or a specialist diagnosis
  • In-home visiting carries a loading that is largely transport from a boundary community
  • A school's own support class is free and often the best option for a procedural gap
  • Lessons are one-to-one over live video, not a tutor driving out to Al Ghadeer
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

What a family is funding differs by programme, and so does the shape of the spend. These are the three routes an Al Ghadeer household is most likely to be budgeting for.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson IGCSE

Two years of teaching ending in a terminal examination series, with coursework minimal or absent in most subjects. Eight or nine subjects, so a household faces the broadest version of the rationing problem: funding everything is impossible and funding thinly across several produces nothing.

The cheapest effective spend in the IGCSE years is early. Work in Year 9 or early Year 10 can change which tier a school enters a student for, and the tier sets the grade ceiling. The same money in the final term buys examination technique, which is genuinely valuable and cannot recover a capped entry.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects with three at Higher Level, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internally assessed work in every subject with published criteria and word limits, which makes the spend lumpier: concentrated around deadlines rather than spread evenly across the year.

The best value in the Diploma is usually a core component rather than a subject. Theory of Knowledge carries twenty marks across two assessments against published instruments, with strict word limits, and almost no household budgets for it despite three to five sessions being enough to make a difference.

ASAAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

Cambridge International AS and A Level

Staged assessment across AS and A2 with narrower subject choice and greater depth per subject. Fewer subjects to fund than IGCSE and more depth in each, which usually means fewer and longer arrangements rather than more of them.

For Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, students must show one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than grade E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade, alongside five accredited IGCSE subjects at grade E or grade 3 or better. Verify current requirements officially.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These notes are about value rather than content: where an hour of tuition tends to return the most in each subject, which is the information a family rationing a budget actually needs.

Mathematics, IGCSE

Core and Extended, Foundation and Higher

High return where the fault is procedural — frequency density, scale factors, rounding, command words — because each is a short named repair. Low return in Year 11 where the fault is underlying fluency, since the week no longer holds the practice volume required.

Mathematics, Diploma

AA and AI, HL and SL

Consistently the best value Diploma subject, because the faults are diagnosable and because Higher Level Paper 3 is worth a fifth of the grade and is the least practised component. A short Paper 3 block is among the cheapest meaningful purchases available.

Chemistry

IGCSE, SL and HL

Good value at both levels where the work is marked written answers rather than explanation. At IGCSE the marks sit in calculation chains and particle-level reasoning; at Diploma level in organic mechanisms and the style Paper 2 demands.

Physics

IGCSE, SL and HL

Good value with one caveat worth money: a physics difficulty is frequently an algebra difficulty. A tutor who checks that before teaching physics can save a family a term of paying for the wrong subject.

Biology

IGCSE, SL and HL

Value depends entirely on method. The subject responds to written answers marked against the scheme and barely at all to explanation, so an articulate tutor who does not mark is poor value here however knowledgeable.

English, First Language and Language A

0500, SL and HL

High value where the hour is spent on feedback on the student's own writing, low value where it is spent discussing technique in the abstract. The Diploma's Individual Oral is a specific task that students rarely rehearse under conditions.

Economics and Business

IGCSE, SL and HL

Good value because the faults are structural and correctable: evaluation missing, diagrams imprecise, commentaries that summarise an article rather than applying a theory to it. Few sessions, visible change.

Theory of Knowledge

Diploma core

The best value component in the Diploma and the least purchased. Twenty marks, strict word limits of sixteen hundred and nine hundred and fifty words, and very little structured teaching on how the published instrument is applied.

Extended Essay support

Diploma core

Thirty-four marks with critical thinking alone worth twelve, best supported at the research question and first draft stages. Money spent in the final week mostly rearranges an argument that is already fixed.

A subject already at the top of its range

Any

No value, and we say so. This is the clearest case where a provider's recommendation reveals how they make decisions about somebody else's money, and declining it is the honest answer.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements at three very different price points. The cheapest is frequently the right one, which is not what a family expects to read on a page about cost.

Bounded block, three to five sessions

A named, finite repair: a procedural fault, a command-term problem, Paper 3 technique, a Theory of Knowledge instrument. At published specialist online rates this is a few hundred to a couple of thousand dirhams in total, with a defined end point and no rolling commitment.

  • One named target and a fixed number of sessions
  • Diagnostic set before and repeat set afterwards
  • The arrangement ends rather than continuing by default

Weekly term arrangement, one subject

Where the diagnosis is a content gap or underlying fluency, which cannot be compressed. Weekly lessons with marked written work between them and short daily practice, across a term or more, with a review date and a stated measure.

  • Matched to the exact specification or course and level
  • Work marked against the published scheme, not ticked
  • Reviewed against marked evidence at a fixed date

Two children, consecutive slots

Two specialists on the same evening where a household runs both systems. Costs twice as much as one arrangement, which is why we usually recommend funding the child in an examination year properly rather than both thinly.

  • A separate specialist per course rather than one tutor across both
  • One disrupted evening rather than two
  • A shared review date so both plans are judged together

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Ghadeer

01

A year of tuition, costed

The table annualises published monthly estimates over a nine-month school year, which is our own arithmetic on somebody else's figures and is labelled as such. The monthly estimates come from the Bestimate Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table and from packages advertised in this market, all read in October 2026. None of it is our price list.

Two things become visible once the numbers are annual. First, the range is enormous: a weekly hour at budget level and a weekly hour of specialist examination-year support differ by roughly a factor of four over a year, and in-home delivery adds a further layer. Second, the bounded block sits in a completely different bracket from everything else. Three to five sessions aimed at a diagnosed procedural fault costs less than a single month of a weekly arrangement, which is why the diagnosis matters more than the rate.

The sensible way for an Al Ghadeer family to use the table is to decide what kind of problem they have before deciding what to spend. A procedural fault, a command-term problem or an unpractised Paper 3 is a bounded-block purchase in the lowest row. A content gap or a fluency problem is a term, in one of the middle rows, and should be entered into knowing that it is months rather than weeks. There is no version of this market in which a fluency problem is cheap.

One further observation on the in-home rows. The loading over online delivery is real and from a boundary community it is largely transport: a visiting tutor is committing to a long round trip for a single lesson. What it buys is physical presence in the room, which genuinely helps some students, particularly younger ones and those who need supervision rather than teaching. For a Diploma student working on criteria-based assessed pieces it is usually the least valuable thing on the invoice.

02

The border effect: two markets, one household

Al Ghadeer's position on the Abu Dhabi and Dubai boundary creates a pricing confusion that families elsewhere do not have. Much of the published tutoring rate information in the UAE is Dubai-facing, because that is where the search volume is, and a household here is routinely quoted against both markets without being told which is which.

The practical consequences are small but real. A Dubai-based home tutor quoting for a visit to Al Ghadeer is pricing a journey across the emirate boundary, and that journey is in the rate. An Abu Dhabi-based tutor is doing the same from the other direction. Online, the geography disappears and the quote is for teaching. If you are comparing three quotes and one is a visit, you are not comparing like with like, and the difference is not quality.

The second border effect concerns schools. Some Al Ghadeer households use Dubai-side schools, which means a different regulator, a different fee approval process, potentially different term dates and a different inspection framework. Dubai's private schools sit with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in that emirate; Abu Dhabi's sit with ADEK, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools there. Confusing published news between the two is easy and consequential.

A dated example of why that matters. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. That is a Dubai measure. A family with a child in an Abu Dhabi school should not plan a budget around it, and a family with a child on the Dubai side should read the regulator's own announcement rather than a summary of it.

03

What you are entitled to receive for the money

If the price range is wide and the inclusions vary, the useful consumer question is not how much but what arrives. This is the part of the transaction families almost never specify in advance, and specifying it is the single best protection against spending a term on something unmeasurable.

The minimum defensible set is short. A written diagnosis in the first week, naming the specific faults found and the category of each. Written work set every week with an explicit instruction about what to show. That work returned marked against the published scheme or criteria, with marks rather than ticks. An error log maintained across papers showing whether the named faults recur less often. And a review at a fixed date at which the question is whether the marks moved, not whether the lessons were enjoyable.

All five of those are checkable by a parent with no subject knowledge, which is the point. A marked script showing eleven marks lost to command-term misreads in October and three in December is evidence. A cheerful message after each lesson is reassurance, generated by design, and in our experience that language appears precisely when the written work has quietly stopped being set.

The table sets out each item with what it looks like done well, what it looks like done badly, and how to check. Take it to any provider, including us. A provider who treats the list as reasonable is describing a service; one who finds it intrusive is describing something else.

04

Free, nearly free, and cheap: what to try before paying

A page about cost that only lists paid options is advertising. There are three or four interventions that cost nothing or almost nothing, and for a meaningful share of students they are sufficient. They should be exhausted before a household commits several thousand dirhams a year, and no provider has an incentive to tell you so.

The school's own intervention or support class is first. It is free, it is taught by somebody who knows the exact specification and has seen your child's work, and they have access to the department's assessment data. For a procedural gap, a terminology problem or a command-term habit, that is a strong combination at any price. Ask whether such a class exists and whether your child is in it, and treat a negative answer as the first question for the school rather than a reason to buy.

Second is reading the mark scheme. Published schemes are free on the boards' own sites and almost no student has read one. A student who reads three, with their own marked script alongside, changes the shape of their written answers permanently. A parent can supervise that in an evening without understanding the subject, simply by checking that the required elements named in the scheme appear in the student's answer.

Third is retrieval practice, which is free and better than the method most students use. Reading notes produces recognition; writing an answer without notes produces recall, which is what examinations require. Twenty minutes a day on a topic covered three weeks ago, marked against the scheme afterwards, outperforms two hours of rereading. The table sets these out with what each fixes and, importantly, what it cannot.

Hidden extras and the billing questions worth asking

The published rate is rarely the whole figure, and the gaps are predictable enough to ask about in advance. None of these questions is awkward and all of them are cheaper to ask than to discover.

Ask whether the price is per hour or per lesson, because a sixty-minute rate quoted against a forty-five minute lesson is a different price. Ask what happens if a session is cancelled, by either side, and how much notice is required. Ask whether marking of written work between sessions is included or billed separately, since that is the component that does the work. Ask whether a first payment commits you to a block, and whether anything renews automatically. Ask what happens if the match is wrong and a replacement is needed.

Ask about the free trial's conditions on the same screen as the offer, because an offer described as free with an undisclosed condition attached is not free. Ours is one lesson, with no card required and nothing starting automatically, and that is the whole of it. If a provider's trial requires card details, requires a block commitment afterwards, or is only free if you continue, those are conditions and you are entitled to see them before giving your details.

Ask about data, too, since tuition involves information about a minor. A provider should tell you what it collects, why, and how to have it deleted, and should keep a privacy link on every page. The UAE has a federal personal data protection law, and a lead form gathering a child's school, grades and photograph without a stated purpose is a problem regardless of intent. It is reasonable to ask what happens to the marked work and the diagnosis when you stop.

06

Tuition against school fees: the context

Tuition spending makes more sense viewed against the rest of a household's education budget than in isolation. For most families in this corridor, school fees are the dominant figure and tuition is a marginal addition — which argues for spending it precisely rather than broadly, since the marginal dirham has to work harder than the fee does.

The published context worth knowing is dated and checkable. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. Dubai's private sector in 2024-25 held 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering seventeen different curricula, and the 2026-27 intake adds seven new private schools, four UK curriculum and three International Baccalaureate, creating 16,846 new places. Those are Dubai figures; Abu Dhabi's fee process sits with ADEK.

Against that backdrop, the annualised tuition figures in the first table are a modest proportion of a typical private school fee and a large absolute number in their own right. The decision that most affects value is therefore not how much to spend but on what: one subject properly funded with marked work, or a core component nobody else is buying, against three or four subjects funded thinly enough that the written practice stops happening in all of them.

There is one figure in this market that belongs in a cost discussion for a different reason. A provider advertises completed Internal Assessments at AED 3,750 — roughly three months of genuine specialist tuition. We decline to produce assessed work at any price. The number is useful because it shows what is being sold in this market and at what scale, and because buying one is academic malpractice whose consequence falls on the student's whole entry rather than on the seller.

07

When money cannot buy the outcome

A cost page should say where spending stops working, because that is the information a family cannot get from anybody selling. There are four situations in which more money produces less than it appears to, and recognising them saves real sums.

The first is a load problem. A competent student carrying three Higher Levels, the Diploma core, mandatory subjects and a long daily journey may simply lack the hours the courses assume. Adding a weekly session to that week displaces the written practice that makes sessions work, so the intervention makes the situation worse. The honest next step is a conversation with the school about level or subject load, and we will say so rather than taking the booking.

The second is lateness. Tuition bought eight weeks before a terminal series reliably improves timing, command-term discipline, rounding and question selection, and reliably cannot rebuild two years of fluency or teach untaught content. Both are true at the same time. A family who knows which they are buying will spend the eight weeks well; a family who has been told it can fix everything will be disappointed in a way that was predictable from the start.

The third is breadth. Tuition works through marked written practice between lessons, and a student's free evenings do not multiply when subjects are added. By the third or fourth subject the lessons are the only work happening and nothing consolidates. The fourth is a structural problem at a school — a course not taught by a specialist this year, or a Higher Level combination that did not run — which tuition can palliate and cannot fix, and which should be raised with the school directly.

08

The permit, our status and the claims we will not make

Private tutoring in the UAE requires a work permit issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years — so a tutor who tells you the permit is costly is mistaken — and the ministry's service page lists no fee and a two working day completion time, applied for through its smart app, website and e-services system. Eligible applicants include registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, university students and school students aged fifteen to eighteen.

Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No schedule of amounts has been published and press reporting states that the ministry did not specify the fine amounts or detail the penalties, so a figure quoted to you as the penalty is invention — a useful test of whether the rest of a provider's claims are sourced. In Abu Dhabi, press reporting on ADEK's professional-ethics rules indicates school staff may not take paid private tutoring work with students enrolled at their own school. Verify the current document before relying on the wording.

An operation with premises is a different legal animal from an individual tutor and needs its own permit from the emirate regulator; in Dubai that is an educational services permit for a training institute issued by KHDA. IB Gram holds none, because it has no premises: it is an independent online matching platform with no office, centre or branch in the UAE, and no accreditation, licence, approval or partnership from ADEK, KHDA, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, Cambridge, Pearson or the IB. Describing a tutoring service as approved by one of those bodies without the document to show is the most dangerous sentence available in this market.

On claims and figures: we publish no star rating, review count or satisfaction statistic, because stating one honestly requires the sample size, the date and the method alongside it. Every AED figure on this page is attributed to a published source and dated October 2026, and the annualised figures are labelled as our arithmetic on those published monthly estimates. No tutor can promise a grade, a points total or a university outcome, and we decline to produce assessed work of any kind at any price.

Nearby areas we cover around Al Ghadeer

Al Ghadeer's position on the boundary means families here compare prices across two emirates. These are the communities and clusters that frame those comparisons.

Al Shamkha

The nearest large Abu Dhabi community inland, with some local provision and the same long afternoon return from the island.

Al Reef

Townhouses nearer the Khalifa City cluster, where many Al Ghadeer families' children attend school and where quoted rates are Abu Dhabi rates.

Hydra Village

A small gated community nearby with no school or tuition inside it, which is the clearest illustration of what proximity filtering actually removes.

Khalifa City

The main Abu Dhabi mainland school cluster, and the destination for most Al Ghadeer students who stay on the Abu Dhabi side.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Large mainland district with its own schools and tuition centres, and the nearest realistic option for an evening group class.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Work out which problem you have

A procedural fault, a content gap, a fluency problem, a load problem or a school problem. The answer determines whether you are buying a few hundred dirhams of bounded work or several thousand across a term, which matters far more than the hourly rate.

  2. 02

    Exhaust the free options first

The school's support class, three published mark schemes read with the student's own script alongside, and twenty minutes of daily retrieval practice. For a meaningful share of students that is sufficient, and no provider has an incentive to tell you so.

  3. 03

    Specify what you will receive

A written diagnosis in week one, work set and returned marked against the published scheme, an error log kept across papers, and a review date with a measure. Agree all five before paying anybody, including us.

  4. 04

Free trial lesson, with the conditions stated

One live video lesson. No card required, no block commitment afterwards, nothing renewing automatically. You decide after it, and if we think the honest next step is a conversation with the school rather than a purchase, we will say that.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Annual figures, not hourly ones

Nobody buys an hour. We annualise published monthly estimates so a tuition decision is comparable with the rest of a household's education spending, and we label the arithmetic as ours rather than presenting it as a source.

The free options are on the page

A school support class, published mark schemes and retrieval practice cost nothing and are sufficient for a meaningful share of students. A cost page that omits them is advertising rather than information.

We will sell you the small thing

Where the diagnosis is one procedural fault, a three to five session block is the honest purchase and costs less than one month of a weekly arrangement. Open-ended arrangements for narrow faults are how this market disappoints people.

Inclusions specified, not implied

A written diagnosis, work set and marked against the published scheme, an error log and a review with a measure. All five are checkable by a parent with no subject knowledge, which is the point of listing them.

Trial conditions on the same screen

One lesson, no card, no block commitment, nothing renewing. An offer described as free with an undisclosed condition attached is not free, and we would rather state ours than have you discover it.

Figures sourced, status stated

Every AED band is attributed and dated October 2026, and none is our price list. We hold no permit, licence or accreditation from any regulator or board, have no UAE premises, and publish no rating.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Ghadeer: your questions answered

What does a year of IB or IGCSE tuition cost from Al Ghadeer?+

Annualising published monthly estimates over a nine-month school year: roughly AED 2,200 to 5,400 for a weekly hour at budget level, AED 5,400 to 10,800 mid-market, and AED 9,000 to 18,000 or more for specialist examination-year support. An advertised in-home package of four two-hour sessions a month annualises to roughly AED 14,400 to 16,200. Those monthly figures come from the Bestimate Tutoring Cost Dubai 2026 rate table and market packages read in October 2026; the annualisation is our arithmetic.

Why are we quoted different rates from Dubai and Abu Dhabi tutors?+

Because Al Ghadeer sits on the boundary and most published UAE rate information is Dubai-facing, so a household here gets quoted against two markets without being told which is which. More importantly, a visiting tutor from either direction is pricing a journey across the emirate boundary into the rate. If one of three quotes is for a visit, you are not comparing like with like, and the difference is transport rather than quality.

What is the cheapest thing that actually works?+

The school's own intervention or support class, which is usually free, taught by somebody who knows the exact specification and has seen your child's work, and backed by the department's assessment data. For a procedural gap, a terminology problem or a command-term habit that is a strong combination at any price. Ask whether such a class exists and whether your child is in it. After that, reading three published mark schemes and twenty minutes of daily retrieval practice, both free.

How cheap can a useful paid arrangement be?+

A bounded block of three to five specialist sessions aimed at one diagnosed fault costs roughly AED 600 to 2,300 in total at published specialist online rates read in October 2026, which is less than a single month of a weekly arrangement at the same level. Where the diagnosis is a procedural fault, a command-term habit or unpractised Paper 3 technique, that block is frequently the whole of what a student needs and we would rather sell it than a term.

What should I receive each week for the money?+

Five things, all checkable without subject knowledge. A written diagnosis in week one naming the faults and their categories. Written work set with an explicit instruction about what to show. That work returned marked against the published scheme, with marks rather than ticks. An error log kept across papers. And a review at a fixed date measured on marked evidence. Cheerful messages after each lesson are reassurance by design, and usually appear when the written work has stopped.

Does the price include VAT, and are tuition fees taxed in the UAE?+

On the general tax treatment of tuition fees we state no position, because that is a question for the Federal Tax Authority and we would rather say so than publish something unsourced. What a family can and should do is ask any provider directly whether a quoted figure includes VAT, and ask for that in writing before committing. A provider who cannot answer clearly about their own pricing has told you something about their administration.

What hidden extras catch Al Ghadeer families out?+

Five recurring ones. Whether the price is per hour or per lesson, since a sixty-minute rate against a forty-five minute session is a different price. Cancellation terms and notice periods on both sides. Whether marking between sessions is included or billed separately, which matters because the marking does the work. Whether a first payment commits you to a block or renews automatically. And what happens if the match is wrong and a replacement is needed.

Is a free trial lesson really free?+

Ours is: one live video lesson, no card required, no block commitment afterwards, and nothing renewing automatically. That is the whole of the condition. Elsewhere, ask for the conditions on the same screen as the offer, because an offer described as free with an undisclosed requirement attached is not free. If a trial requires card details, a subsequent commitment, or is only free if you continue, those are conditions you are entitled to see first.

Should we fund three subjects or one for our Al Ghadeer student?+

One, properly, and then review. Tuition works through the marked written practice between lessons, and your child's free evenings do not multiply when subjects are added. By the third or fourth subject the lessons become the only work happening and nothing consolidates. One subject with a specialist and marked work reliably moves a grade; three funded thinly cost three times as much and move none. For a terminal examination year with two genuinely failing subjects, two is defensible.

Does the Dubai school fee freeze apply to our Abu Dhabi school?+

No. KHDA confirmed on 22 May 2026 that there would be no increase in private school fees in Dubai for the 2026-27 academic year, under Dubai's second economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion within a AED 2.5 billion total. That is a Dubai measure for Dubai schools. Abu Dhabi's private school fee process sits with ADEK, which supervises licensing and accreditation in that emirate. On a boundary like Al Ghadeer's the two are easy to confuse and the difference is consequential.

When is spending more on tuition pointless?+

In four situations. When the student has a load problem rather than a learning one, because adding sessions displaces the practice that makes sessions work. When tuition starts eight weeks before a terminal series and the fault is fluency or untaught content rather than technique. When the budget is spread across three or four subjects until the written work stops in all of them. And when the underlying problem is structural at the school, which tuition can palliate and cannot fix.

Why is Theory of Knowledge the best value thing to buy?+

Because it carries twenty marks — ten for the essay and ten for the exhibition — against published instruments with strict word limits of sixteen hundred and nine hundred and fifty words, and most students receive very little structured teaching on how those instruments are applied to what they have written. Three to five sessions aimed exactly at that often returns more per dirham than the same money added to a fourth subject. Almost no household budgets for it.

What is the AED 3,750 figure some providers advertise?+

A completed Internal Assessment, sold outright by a provider in this market. It belongs in a cost discussion for two reasons. It is roughly three months of genuine specialist tuition, which puts the price of the shortcut in perspective. And buying one is academic malpractice whose consequence falls on the student's whole Diploma entry rather than on the seller. We decline to produce assessed work of any kind at any price.

Does the permit a tutor needs add to what we pay?+

It should not, because the permit is free. The UAE private tuition work permit is issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years, with the ministry's own service page listing no fee and a two working day completion time. A tutor who tells you the permit is costly is mistaken, and anyone quoting you a specific fine for tutoring without one is inventing it, since no schedule of amounts has been published.

Decide the problem, then the budget

A procedural fault is a few hundred dirhams of bounded work. A fluency problem is a term and several thousand. A load problem is not a purchase at all. Working out which one you have costs nothing except reading the last marked script, and it affects the total far more than any hourly rate does. Try the school's free support class first, read three mark schemes with your child, and then specify what you expect to receive each week before paying anybody. Lessons here run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time; we do not offer home visits in the UAE, and the trial is one lesson with no card and no commitment.
