IGCSE Home Tutor in Al Ghadeer

The real question behind every search for an IGCSE home tutor in Al Ghadeer is whether anybody within driving distance actually teaches the syllabus your child sits. Not IGCSE in general. Cambridge 0580 or Pearson 4MA1. Core tier or Extended tier. Paper 4 or Paper 6. This page answers that honestly for a family on the Abu Dhabi border, shows you how to test a tutor's claim in five minutes, and explains why IB Gram matches by syllabus code over live video rather than by driving distance.

  • Matched to a named syllabus code, not to IGCSE in general
  • Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel treated as the different courses they are
  • Coverage limits stated at enquiry, never filled approximately
  • Lessons delivered online, one-to-one, in Gulf Standard Time

IB & IGCSE in Al Ghadeer

Does anybody near Al Ghadeer teach your child's actual syllabus?

Al Ghadeer is on the far northern edge of the Abu Dhabi emirate, off the E11 near Al Samha, which means the pool of tutors willing to drive to the community is small and the pool who happen to teach a specific IGCSE syllabus within that group is smaller again. Most parents here discover this in the same order. They search for a home tutor, find two or three who answer, and only later realise that the person teaching their daughter Chemistry has taught the Pearson 4CH1 course and she is entered for Cambridge 0620. The content overlaps. The papers, the tiering and the practical assessment do not.

So the honest answer to the question in the search bar is: probably not, and that is the wrong thing to optimise for anyway. A tutor chosen because they live twenty minutes away is a tutor chosen on a criterion that has no relationship to your child's grade. The criterion that does matter is whether they can tell you, without looking it up, how many papers your child sits, what each is worth, which topics appear only on the Extended tier, and where candidates routinely throw marks away on the paper they are weakest at.

IGCSE is not one qualification. Cambridge International runs its own suite with four-digit codes such as 0580 for Mathematics, 0625 for Physics and 0500 for First Language English. Pearson Edexcel runs International GCSE with codes such as 4MA1, 4PH1 and 4EA1, assessed differently and available in a modular pattern Cambridge does not offer. Several Abu Dhabi schools run a mixture, so siblings in the same household can sit different boards in the same subject. A tutor who says they teach IGCSE and nothing more specific has told you very little.

What IB Gram does about the scarcity problem is remove geography from the match. Lessons are delivered one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, with papers screen-shared and annotated during the session. We do not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; visiting tutors are a service we run only in India. That is a limitation stated plainly, and it is also the thing that lets a Al Ghadeer family book the person who actually teaches 0580 Extended rather than the person who lives closest to the E11 junction.

The sections below are built around verification rather than persuasion. There is a table of what coverage genuinely looks like by subject and level, including where it is thin. There is a board comparison so you can work out which course your child is on. There is the Core and Extended tier question, which quietly decides a grade ceiling. There is the Ministry of Education equivalency rule, where one ranking competitor publishes the wrong subject count. And there is a short list of questions that will tell you in five minutes whether a tutor knows the syllabus or the subject's reputation.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Four qualification routes touch a Al Ghadeer household running the British curriculum. The notes say what each one demands and where a tutor match goes wrong if the route is not identified first.

Cambridge IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge International IGCSE

Two years of linear courses examined at the end, with four-digit syllabus codes and, in several subjects, a Core and an Extended tier. Candidates typically take between five and nine subjects. Assessment is by written paper, with practical or alternative-to-practical components in the sciences and an optional coursework route in some subjects.

Cambridge candidates in Al Ghadeer sit the June series, with November available as a resit route. The February/March series is offered to India only and should be ignored on any UAE page. Every centre belongs to one of six administrative zones and Cambridge warns that the correct zone timetable must be used, so take dates from your child's exams officer rather than from a tutor.

Edexcel IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Pearson's international suite, with codes in the 4XX1 pattern. Maths is offered at Foundation and Higher tier, and several subjects can be sat in a modular pattern across sittings rather than entirely at the end. Grading uses the 9 to 1 scale in the international specifications a UAE school is most likely to have adopted.

Pearson International GCSE exams run in May/June and November each year. The November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, and results from the November 2025 series reached students on 22 January 2026. June 2026 results went to centres on 19 August 2026. Pearson publishes provisional timetables ahead of each series, so the live PDF is the only version to plan around.

Lower SecondaryAges 11-14 · Years 7-9

Cambridge Lower Secondary and Checkpoint

The stage before IGCSE, assessed through Checkpoint tests that schools use for setting and for tier decisions. Cambridge runs Primary and Lower Secondary Checkpoint tests in March, May and October. Weak algebra or weak scientific writing at this stage becomes a tiering decision in Year 10 that a parent rarely gets to revisit.

This is the cheapest and most effective place for a Al Ghadeer family to intervene, and the stage most often skipped. A Year 9 student whose Checkpoint maths is weak will be put forward for the Core tier, and the Core tier has a grade ceiling. Fixing the algebra in Year 9 is a term of work; arguing about the tier in Year 11 fixes nothing.

AS and A LevelAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

International AS and A Level progression

Where most IGCSE students in this corridor go next, unless the school runs the IB Diploma. Subject choices at this stage depend on IGCSE grades and on whether Extended tier maths was taken, since the Core tier does not prepare a student for A Level Mathematics.

For Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, students must show one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or better, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade, alongside the five IGCSE passes. That is the published rule, and it is why the IGCSE tier decision in Year 9 reaches further than most families realise.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the IGCSE subjects Abu Dhabi families most often ask us to cover, named by syllabus code where the code changes what a tutor needs to know. Coverage is genuinely uneven across them and the following section says where.

Mathematics (Cambridge 0580, Pearson 4MA1)

Core and Extended; Foundation and Higher

The single most requested subject here. Extended tier adds functions, harder trigonometry, vectors and more demanding algebra, and Cambridge assesses it across two papers rather than one. Marks are lost on method not shown, on premature rounding, and on failing to read what the question asked for in the units given.

Additional Mathematics (Cambridge 0606)

Single tier

Taken alongside 0580 by stronger candidates, often as preparation for A Level Mathematics. The calculus and the harder trigonometric identities are new content rather than extensions, so a tutor who teaches 0580 well is not automatically equipped for 0606. It is a scarce subject to staff in this emirate.

Physics (Cambridge 0625, Pearson 4PH1)

Core and Extended; single tier at Pearson

Electricity and circuits are where most of the lost marks sit, followed by the practical paper or the alternative-to-practical. Students who can rearrange the formula but cannot explain which quantity is conserved stall in the longer questions. The two boards assess practical skills by different routes.

Chemistry (Cambridge 0620, Pearson 4CH1)

Core and Extended; single tier at Pearson

Moles calculations, electrolysis and organic reaction pathways account for most of the damage. Candidates memorise the series of steps and then cannot apply it to a compound they have not seen. The qualitative analysis section of the practical component needs separate, deliberate preparation.

Biology (Cambridge 0610, Pearson 4BI1)

Core and Extended; single tier at Pearson

The volume of content is the problem rather than its difficulty. Candidates who revise by rereading score well below those answering past questions against the command terms. Genetics and transport in plants are the two topics most often reported as unfinished when a student arrives for tuition.

English First Language (Cambridge 0500 and 0990)

Single tier

Reading and directed writing cannot be revised by memorising content, which is why late starts hurt here more than anywhere. Students need timed practice at summary writing and at writing in a specified form and register. The 0990 variant is the 9 to 1 graded version of the same course.

English as a Second Language (Cambridge 0510 and 0993)

Single tier, with speaking endorsement

A different course from First Language English and a different grade ceiling for university purposes. Many Al Ghadeer students are placed in it by default and would be better served by First Language. That placement decision is worth a conversation with the school in Year 9, not Year 11.

Economics (Cambridge 0455) and Business Studies (0450)

Single tier

Both are won on command terms and diagram accuracy. A question asking a candidate to analyse and answered with a description is capped whatever the content knowledge. Business Studies rewards applying theory to the stimulus material in the paper rather than reciting the theory alone.

Computer Science (0478) and ICT (0417)

Single tier

Two very different subjects that parents routinely conflate. Computer Science requires algorithm design, trace tables and pseudocode precision; ICT is practical application work assessed at a keyboard. A tutor comfortable with one is often no use at all for the other.

Arabic as a First Language (Cambridge 0508) and Arabic as a Foreign Language

Single tier

Abu Dhabi schools run Arabic for every pupil regardless of the licensed curriculum, and the stream a child is in determines the course. Federal rules require Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies in private schools, so this sits alongside the IGCSE programme rather than instead of part of it.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three ways of buying IGCSE help from this corridor, judged on whether they can actually address a named syllabus and a named weak paper rather than the subject in general.

Weekly one-to-one on a named syllabus

A single tutor matched to the code on your child's exam entry, working the same two or three weak topics week after week until the marks on those questions move. The tutor keeps a record of papers attempted and errors repeated, which is what makes the second term cheaper in effort than the first.

  • Matched by code and tier, for example 0580 Extended rather than IGCSE maths
  • 60 or 90 minutes after 17:00 Gulf Standard Time to clear the commute
  • Past papers worked live on screen with the mark scheme applied
  • A short note to the parent after each session naming the error pattern

Tier and board diagnosis before anything is booked

A single session whose only purpose is to establish where the student actually is: which board, which tier, which papers, and whether the current tier entry matches the evidence. Families who skip this step often buy a term of tuition pitched at the wrong level, which is the most expensive mistake available in this market.

  • Entry details and tier confirmed against the school's own paperwork
  • A short diagnostic paper worked under timing
  • A written view on whether Core or Extended fits the evidence
  • A six-week plan with named topics rather than a subject name

Pre-series intensive before the June or November papers

A dense run of sessions built entirely from past papers for the right board and tier, used by families whose budget cannot stretch across the year. It buys exam technique efficiently and cannot repair missing content, which is worth knowing before it is booked rather than after.

  • Two or three sessions a week across four to eight weeks
  • Every session includes a question answered under exam timing
  • Marked against the published mark scheme, not against impressions
  • Revision ordered by where marks are going, not by syllabus order

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Ghadeer

01

What coverage honestly looks like for a Al Ghadeer IGCSE student

Nobody in this market publishes a coverage limit. Every provider implies that any subject at any level is available on request, and families find out otherwise in week three when the tutor who was going to teach Additional Mathematics turns out to be teaching from the 0580 scheme of work. We would rather state the position at enquiry, because a parent who has already spent an hour a day on the E11 deserves a straight answer about what exists.

The pattern is consistent. Mainstream subjects at mainstream tiers are easy to match quickly. Mathematics, the three separate sciences, English and Economics at Cambridge or Pearson are all well staffed, and a free trial can usually be arranged within days. The difficulty concentrates in three places: subjects that look mainstream but are not, such as Additional Mathematics 0606 and Computer Science 0478; first-language subjects other than English and Arabic; and any request that pairs a specific board with a specific practical component.

There is a second axis parents rarely think about, which is the tutor's experience of the right tier. A teacher who has taught Core-tier maths for five years can explain every topic a Core candidate needs and will be noticeably weaker on the Extended-only material, because they have not taught it recently. Asking for a specialist in a subject is not the same as asking for a specialist in the paper.

When we cannot cover something, the fallback is stated rather than hidden. For a genuinely niche combination, the match may come from our wider pool of IB and IGCSE specialists outside the UAE, taught in your child's own time zone over the same video platform. The table sets out where coverage is strong, where it is thin, and what the realistic wait is.

Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel: establish which one before hiring anybody

This is the first thing to settle and the thing most often skipped. Cambridge International and Pearson Edexcel both award an international GCSE in the same subjects, with overlapping content and genuinely different assessment. A tutor prepared for one will teach a reasonable lesson on the other and will not know where that board's candidates lose marks, which is the part you are paying for.

The differences that matter are structural. Cambridge Mathematics runs a Core and an Extended tier with different papers and a different grade ceiling; Pearson runs Foundation and Higher. Pearson offers modular entry in several subjects, so a student can bank a unit in one series and complete in another; Cambridge assessment is linear. The sciences differ in how practical skills are assessed. Even the grading scale can differ between specifications a school has adopted.

Finding out takes one message to the school office or one look at the exam entry statement, which lists the syllabus code against each subject. Those codes are the most useful four characters in this whole process. Once you have them, a tutor conversation becomes short and decisive, because you can ask about Paper 4 of 0580 and hear immediately whether the answer is specific or general.

A UAE-specific wrinkle worth knowing: some Abu Dhabi schools enter different subjects with different boards in the same cohort. It is entirely normal for a student to sit Cambridge sciences and a Pearson maths, and for a sibling two years above to have sat the opposite. Do not assume the school has one board.

Core or Extended: the tier decision that sets a grade ceiling

Cambridge Mathematics and several Cambridge sciences are tiered. The Core tier covers less content and its papers cannot award the top grades; the Extended tier covers more and can. Schools decide entries, usually in Year 10, on the basis of Year 9 attainment and classroom evidence. Parents are informed rather than consulted, and by the time a report makes the consequence clear the decision is often months old.

The practical effect is that a Year 11 student on the Core tier has a ceiling they cannot exceed no matter how well they are tutored, and that ceiling may close off A Level Mathematics and some university routes. Nobody is served by discovering this in the spring of Year 11. A family that asks in Year 9 which tier their child is heading for, and what would have to improve to change it, has a real decision in front of them.

Tuition pitched at the wrong tier is the other half of the problem. A tutor working through Extended-only topics with a Core candidate is spending your money on material that cannot appear on the paper. A tutor working Core material with an Extended candidate is leaving the hardest third of the course untouched. This is why we insist on confirming the tier from the school's own paperwork before the first paid session.

If the tier is right and the grade is still short, the gap is almost always in the same places: algebraic manipulation that is slow rather than wrong, method marks lost because working is not shown, and a failure to check that the answer answers the question in the units asked for. Those three are trainable within a term.

Five minutes of questions that tell you whether a tutor knows the syllabus

  • How many papers, and what is each worth on this board?
  • Which topics are higher-tier only in this syllabus?
  • Which question do your students most often lose marks on, and why?
  • What does the practical or alternative-to-practical component require?
  • Can you show the MoHRE private tuition permit, and what will you do with a coursework draft?

Credentials are easy to assert and hard to check, so the fastest filter is subject-specific detail. A tutor who genuinely teaches a syllabus answers these without hesitating, because the answers are part of their working week. A tutor who teaches the subject's reputation will give you warm, general replies and will change the topic to experience and results.

Ask how many papers your child sits for this subject on this board, and what each is worth. Ask which topics appear only on the higher tier. Ask which question on the paper their students most often lose marks on, and why. Ask what the command terms are and how a describe question differs from an explain question in the mark scheme. Ask what the practical component requires and how they prepare a student for it.

Then ask three questions that are not about the subject at all. Can you show your MoHRE private tuition work permit? What will you do with my child's coursework draft, in your own words? And what happens if the match does not work after three sessions? The answers to those tell you about risk rather than knowledge, and risk is the part a parent has least visibility of.

Finally, notice what a good answer sounds like. It is specific, it includes a number, and it sometimes includes an admission. A tutor who says they are strong on the written papers and would want to check the practical requirements before promising anything is being more useful than one who says they cover everything.

05

Who regulates your child's school, and what that tells you

Al Ghadeer sits in the Abu Dhabi emirate, so the schools a family here chooses on the Abu Dhabi side are licensed and inspected by the Department of Education and Knowledge. ADEK supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate and publishes its own inspection outcomes. That is the authority whose school listing a parent should check for curriculum, programmes and ratings, and it is named by essentially none of the tutoring pages competing for this search.

The distinction matters more here than in most communities, because Al Ghadeer families regularly consider schools across the border. A school a short drive north is regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority instead, which is responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in Dubai. Two regulators, two inspection frameworks, two published rating systems. A parent comparing a Dubai rating with an Abu Dhabi rating is comparing two different measurements.

The wider map is worth knowing because families move. Sharjah's private schools are regulated by the Sharjah Private Education Authority and Ras Al Khaimah's by its Department of Knowledge, both of which approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods rather than only inspecting. The Ministry of Education supervises private schools in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah.

One thing a regulator does not do is endorse tutors. There is no such thing as an ADEK-approved or KHDA-approved private tutor, and any provider implying otherwise is describing something that does not exist. A business running a training institute with premises in Dubai needs a specific KHDA Educational Services Permit; IB Gram holds no regulator permit, accreditation or partnership of any kind.

The five IGCSE subjects the Ministry of Education counts

Certificate equivalency is the step that converts a British-curriculum school leaving record into something a UAE institution recognises, and it has a published rule that is widely misreported. On the British track, a student must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must also show one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or better, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade.

The detail that catches families is the exclusion. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects for the GCSE or IGCSE count. A student taking five subjects of which two are Arabic and Islamic Education does not have five that count. One page currently ranking for these searches tells UAE parents they need six IGCSE subjects; the published rule is five, and getting this wrong changes a subject-choice decision in Year 9.

For the American track the requirements are different: English proficiency is shown by a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and mathematics requires at least 450 in the SAT Math test. For the IB there is no points threshold we can verify, so no figure appears on this page. Anybody publishing one without a Ministry source is guessing.

Two cautions. Equivalency is a process the Ministry runs, not something a tutoring company performs or guarantees, and tutoring is not required for it. The honest role of a tutor here is to make sure the subject choices made in Year 9 and Year 11 leave the five countable passes achievable, which is a planning conversation rather than a service.

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies alongside the IGCSE programme

  • Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies are required in private schools regardless of curriculum
  • KHDA prohibits combined Arab and non-Arab classes in Arabic first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies
  • Mandatory subject time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, with at least 25 minutes advised per lesson
  • Additional or different content for these subjects needs prior Ministry permission
  • Count these subjects into the week before adding private tuition hours

Every private school in the UAE teaches Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies regardless of the international curriculum it is licensed to deliver. That is a federal requirement: private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond those subjects, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations. For a Al Ghadeer family running a Cambridge or Pearson programme, these subjects sit alongside the IGCSE timetable and carry their own homework, assessment and reporting.

The organisational rules are more specific than most parents realise. In Dubai, KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, stating that combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because of different curriculum expectations and language of instruction. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, and KHDA advises that any mandatory subject lesson should run at least 25 minutes.

There is also a constraint on material. For the mandatory UAE subjects, the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is strictly prohibited. That shapes what tutoring in these subjects can honestly consist of: working with the school's own material and the Ministry curriculum rather than introducing an alternative scheme.

The reason it belongs on an IGCSE page is timetable arithmetic. A student carrying nine IGCSE subjects plus Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies has a genuinely full week, and a parent adding three hours of private tuition on top needs to know what is being displaced. Almost no competing page in this market mentions these subjects at all, which makes their load invisible in every tutoring plan published for UAE families.

08

Coursework, feedback and the line a paid tutor does not cross

Some IGCSE subjects carry coursework or a controlled assessment, and every one of them requires the work to be the student's own. A tutor can teach the skills the task assesses, explain the assessment criteria, read a draft the student has produced and say clearly where it falls short of the criteria. A tutor cannot supply text for submission, rewrite a draft into its final state, or produce the work for the student to hand in.

It is worth being blunt about why this appears on a page about finding a tutor. One provider visible in these search results sells completed Internal Assessments at a published price. Boards treat submitted work that is not the candidate's own as malpractice, and the consequence lands on the student, not on the seller. A family paying for help should be able to tell the difference between teaching and substitution, and the test is simple: at the end of the session, who did the writing?

The same boundary covers material. We do not reproduce or distribute Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade boundary tables. Those are the boards' copyright, your child's school has legitimate access to what they need, and a tutor working from the official specification and citing it is doing the job properly.

Ask any prospective tutor the coursework question directly and listen for a specific answer. A tutor who describes reading a draft and giving criterion-referenced feedback is describing the job. A tutor who offers to tidy it up or get it finished is describing something that can end a qualification.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Ghadeer

Availability in this corridor varies by community because school clusters, exam centres and tutor density do. These are the places that come up when a Al Ghadeer family asks us who is actually free.

Al Ghadeer

No IGCSE school sits inside the community, so every candidate here is registered at a centre elsewhere and travels to sit papers. That makes the exams officer at the school, not the tutor, the single source for timetable dates.

Al Samha and Al Rahba

The nearest settled neighbourhoods and the closest thing to a local tutor pool. In practice the people available here teach primary and lower secondary well, and specific IGCSE syllabus codes patchily.

Al Shahama

Several long-established schools and a correspondingly larger pool of teachers living nearby. Al Ghadeer families often look here first for a driving tutor and then discover the board does not match their child's entry.

Khalifa City and Al Raha

The strongest British-curriculum cluster on the mainland side of the commute. Students we support travel from the border communities to schools here, which puts a realistic weekday lesson after 17:00.

Mohammed Bin Zayed City

Dense with tuition centres running fixed schemes of work, which is the main alternative Al Ghadeer families price against. Centres cover the syllabus broadly; they rarely cover a single candidate's weakest paper.

Al Reef

A frequent compromise between the border and the island, with shared school transport routes running through it. Bus arrival times around 16:45 set the earliest honest weekday start for a lesson.

Abu Dhabi island and Al Reem Island

Where the largest concentration of exam centres and specialist teachers sits. From Al Ghadeer that is over an hour each way, which is exactly why a video link is the practical answer rather than a compromise.

The border corridor: Al Ghadeer, Al Samha and Al Shahama

Families here choose between driving south toward the Abu Dhabi mainland and north toward the Dubai side of the border. Both directions put the child home late, and both mean the registered exam centre is some distance from the house.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the syllabus codes, not the subject names

Take the codes from your child's exam entry statement or ask the school office. Cambridge 0580, Pearson 4MA1, Cambridge 0620: those four characters determine who can usefully teach the course. Add the tier where the subject is tiered. This single step removes most of the mismatch that happens in this market.

  2. 02

A diagnostic trial, free, before anything is agreed

A full session online at no cost with the tutor we think fits. Your child works a real question from the right board and tier while the tutor watches how they handle being stuck. You get a written note afterwards naming the error pattern and the first six weeks of work, whether or not you continue.

  3. 03

Confirm the tier against the school's paperwork

Before any paid session we check that the tier we are teaching to is the tier your child is entered for. If the evidence and the entry disagree, that is a conversation to have with the school in Year 10, not a thing to discover from a mock result in Year 11.

  4. 04

Weekly sessions with a named topic list

The same tutor each week, working from a list of named weak topics rather than from the syllabus in order. Past papers for the correct board and tier are worked live on screen and marked against the published mark scheme, and you get a short note after each session.

  5. 05

Review on marked evidence every six to eight weeks

We look at marked work rather than at impressions, and decide whether to keep going, change the focus or change the tutor. Changing the tutor is a normal outcome of a review and costs nothing. Sessions are scheduled in Gulf Standard Time around the commute you actually have.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched to a code, not to a subject

A tutor is matched against Cambridge 0580 Extended or Pearson 4PH1 rather than against maths or physics in general. That is the distinction that decides whether the person across the video link knows where this board's candidates lose marks, and it is the one most providers never ask about.

Coverage limits said out loud

Where we cannot match a specialist for a narrow subject such as Additional Mathematics 0606, we say so at enquiry and explain the fallback. No competitor in this market publishes a coverage limit. A parent in a long-commute community needs to know what exists before rearranging a week around it.

Geography removed from the match

A driving tutor is drawn from the people living near the E11 junction. Online, the pool is the people who teach the paper. From Al Ghadeer that difference is the whole of the available quality, and it costs nothing in fuel or in a child's evening.

Sources named, dates attached

Regulatory points on this page carry the authority that issued them and exam dates carry the series they belong to. Where something cannot be verified, such as an IB session date, we say so rather than publishing a number that reads well. That is a usable page rather than a persuasive one.

The coursework boundary stated before payment

A tutor teaches, explains criteria and gives feedback on a draft the student wrote. A tutor does not supply text for submission. One provider in these results sells finished coursework outright, and the consequence of submitting it falls on the student, so the boundary belongs on the page.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Ghadeer: your questions answered

Is there an IGCSE home tutor near Al Ghadeer who teaches my child's exact syllabus?+

Honestly, the odds are poor. Al Ghadeer sits on the emirate border with no IGCSE school inside the community, so the pool of tutors willing to drive here is small, and the subset who teach a specific code such as Cambridge 0580 Extended or Pearson 4MA1 Higher is smaller again. Choosing by driving distance means choosing on a criterion unrelated to your child's grade. We match by syllabus code over live video instead, which makes the specialist available regardless of where either of you lives.

Does IB Gram send an IGCSE tutor to a villa in Al Ghadeer?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE, and tutors travelling to a family's address is a service we run only in India. Al Ghadeer students are taught one-to-one over live video in Gulf Standard Time, with past papers screen-shared and annotated during the session. We state this before any payment because the pattern families complain about in this market is a home-tutor promise followed, quietly, by a video link.

How do I check whether my Al Ghadeer child sits Cambridge or Pearson?+

Look at the exam entry statement from the school, which lists a syllabus code against each subject, or send one message to the school office. Cambridge codes are four digits such as 0580, 0625 and 0500. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE codes follow a 4XX1 pattern such as 4MA1 and 4PH1. Do not assume the school uses one board throughout: it is common in Abu Dhabi for a student to sit Cambridge sciences and a Pearson maths in the same year.

Does it really matter if a tutor knows the other board instead?+

It matters more than the content overlap suggests. The two boards differ in tiering, in whether modular entry is possible, in how practical science skills are assessed and sometimes in the grading scale a school's chosen specification uses. A tutor prepared for the other board will teach a competent lesson on the topic and will not know which question on this paper candidates consistently throw marks away on. That knowledge is most of what you are paying for.

What is the difference between the Core and Extended tiers in Cambridge maths?+

Core covers the shared core of the syllabus and its papers cannot award the top grades. Extended covers the core plus the extended topics and the full grade range is available. The school decides entries, usually in Year 10, on Year 9 attainment and classroom evidence. The practical consequence is that a Core entry can close off A Level Mathematics, so a Year 9 conversation about what would change the tier is worth far more than a Year 11 appeal.

Can tutoring move my child from the Core tier to the Extended tier?+

Tuition can change the evidence the school is looking at, which is what changes a tier decision, but only if it happens early enough. Once an entry has been made for a series, the tier is fixed for that sitting. The honest window is Year 9 into early Year 10, when a term of focused work on algebraic fluency and on showing method can shift a borderline judgement. By the spring of Year 11 the useful question is how to secure the best available grade within the tier entered.

Which IGCSE subjects are hardest to find a tutor for in this part of Abu Dhabi?+

Additional Mathematics 0606 is the most common disappointment, because its calculus content is new rather than an extension of 0580 and tutors who teach 0580 well are often not equipped for it. Computer Science 0478 is the next, since pseudocode and trace-table precision is a narrow skill that ICT experience does not provide. First languages other than English and Arabic are the hardest of all, and there we say plainly that we cannot cover it rather than offering an approximate match.

What if no UAE specialist is free for a Al Ghadeer IGCSE subject?+

We tell you at enquiry rather than after payment. For a niche combination the fallback is a specialist from our wider IB and IGCSE pool outside the UAE, teaching over the same video platform in your child's own time zone, and we say so explicitly so you can decide. No competitor in this market publishes a coverage limit at all, which is why families keep discovering one in week three. A stated limit is more useful than an implied promise.

When do IGCSE candidates in Al Ghadeer actually sit their papers?+

Cambridge runs a June series and a November series, and UAE candidates sit those two. The February/March series is offered to India only, so disregard any page quoting it. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. For the exact timetable, take it from your child's exams officer: every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones, the correct zone version must be used, and Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong one.

How many IGCSE passes does a Al Ghadeer student need for UAE equivalency?+

Five accredited subjects at a grade no less than E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or better or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. The exclusion is the part families miss: Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five. One page ranking for these searches tells UAE parents six subjects are needed. The published rule is five, and the difference changes a Year 9 subject choice.

Does my child's Al Ghadeer school report tell me which regulator inspects it?+

Not usually, but the emirate does. A school on the Abu Dhabi side is licensed and inspected by the Department of Education and Knowledge, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools in the emirate. A school across the border is overseen by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority instead. The two publish different frameworks, so an Abu Dhabi rating and a Dubai rating are not directly comparable, and ADEK's own school listing is the place to check.

Are there such things as ADEK-approved or KHDA-approved private tutors?+

No. Regulators license and inspect schools, and in Dubai they permit training institutes with premises through a specific KHDA Educational Services Permit. There is no regulator approval scheme for individual private tutors, so a provider describing its tutors as regulator-approved is describing something that does not exist. What a tutor can and should hold is the MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, which is free of charge for two years.

How do Arabic and Islamic Education fit a Al Ghadeer IGCSE week?+

They run alongside it. Private schools in the UAE teach Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies regardless of the international curriculum they are licensed for, so an IGCSE student carries those subjects as well. KHDA calculates mandatory subject time on a 40-minute lesson unit and advises at least 25 minutes per lesson, and requires separate classes for Arab and non-Arab pupils in several of them. Count that load before adding three hours of private tuition to the week.

Will a tutor help finish my child's IGCSE coursework if we are short of time?+

Not in the sense the question usually means. A tutor teaches the skills the task assesses, explains the assessment criteria and gives feedback on a draft your child has written. Supplying text, rewriting a draft to completion or producing the work is malpractice, and the consequence falls on the candidate rather than on whoever supplied it. The test of whether help is legitimate is simple: at the end of the session, who did the writing? It should always be the student.

What should I ask an IGCSE tutor in the first five minutes?+

Ask how many papers your child sits for this subject on this board and what each is worth. Ask which topics are higher-tier only. Ask which question their students most often lose marks on, and why. Ask what the practical component requires. Then ask to see the MoHRE private tuition permit and what they will do with a coursework draft. Specific answers with numbers in them are the signal; warm general answers that pivot to results are the warning.

Send the syllabus code and we will tell you honestly what we can cover

The useful next step is not a sales call. Send us the syllabus codes from your child's exam entry, the tier where the subject is tiered, and what the last marked paper looked like. We will tell you plainly whether a specialist in that exact course is available, how quickly, and what the fallback is if not. If the match exists, the first lesson is free and runs online, one-to-one, in Gulf Standard Time, with a written note afterwards naming the error pattern and the first six weeks of work. If it does not, you will hear that instead of a booking.
