IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Al Rahmaniya

Typing "IB IGCSE tutor near me" from a villa in Al Rahmaniya is really one question: is there anybody within reach who has taught this exact syllabus? Distance is the wrong filter. Al Rahmaniya sits off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road between Al Tai and Muwaileh, and the number of Chemistry HL or 0580 Extended specialists living inside a twenty-minute drive of it is small. IB Gram answers the question with subject cover instead of postcodes: one-to-one lessons over live video, on Gulf Standard Time, with a free trial lesson before anything is booked.

  • Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time
  • A free trial lesson happens before any schedule is agreed
  • Tutors teach, review and give feedback; the student writes every word
  • Market rates on this page carry the source they came from

IB & IGCSE in Al Rahmaniya

What "near me" is really asking, and the honest answer

A search for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Rahmaniya almost never means what it says. Parents are not hoping for somebody on the next street. They are hoping for somebody who has marked a Cambridge 0580 Paper 4 often enough to know that candidates lose three marks on the same transformation question every June, or who can look at an MYP Criterion C comment and translate it into what the Diploma will expect in eighteen months. Proximity is a proxy for competence, and in a Sharjah villa community of this size it is a poor one.

Al Rahmaniya sits inland from the Sharjah corniche, off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, next to Al Tai and a short run from Muwaileh and University City. Sharjah Sustainable City is inside it. Families here are a mix of long-settled Sharjah households and newer arrivals who moved out of the Al Majaz and Al Khan towers for space. Their children are spread across British-curriculum, IB and CBSE schools in three directions, which means the subject combination in any one villa is unlikely to match the villa opposite.

That spread is exactly why a radius search fails. A parent needing Physics 0625 Extended and a parent needing Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL are both told the same thing by a map: here are four tutors within six kilometres. Neither of them is told the thing that decides the outcome, which is whether any of those four has taught the paper their child is sitting. Nobody advertises the gap, so parents book on distance, change tutor in week five, and lose a term.

IB Gram works the other way round. The enquiry starts with the board, the subject, the level and the assessment that is closest, and the match is made against tutors who teach that specific combination. Lessons are delivered online, one-to-one, over live video, scheduled on Gulf Standard Time around the Sharjah school day. IB Gram does not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-home visiting is a service offered only in India, and pretending otherwise would be the fastest way to waste your evening.

What follows is the information a parent in Al Rahmaniya would otherwise have to assemble from six websites: what the Sharjah market charges per hour and why the in-home figure is higher, how to check in two minutes that a tutor is permitted to teach privately in the UAE, which exam series your child's board actually runs here, what a tutor is allowed to touch on an Internal Assessment, and what happens when no specialist is free for a narrow subject. Every figure is attributed. Nothing on this page is a price list of ours.

At a glance

  • Al Rahmaniya feeds schools in Muwaileh, Al Tai, Al Hoshi and University City, not one catchment
  • Cambridge runs June and November series for UAE candidates; the February/March series is offered in India only
  • The MoHRE private tuition work permit is granted free of charge for two years
  • Market rates in the UAE: roughly AED 150-300 an hour online for a qualified subject tutor
  • A tutor who offers to produce an IA is describing a malpractice route, not a service
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Al Rahmaniya children sit across three overlapping stages, and the tutoring that helps at each one looks different. These are the three that generate most enquiries from this part of Sharjah, with what the stage actually demands rather than a brochure description.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Two years, usually eight or nine subjects, assessed almost entirely by terminal written papers. Cambridge splits many subjects into Core and Extended tiers with different grade ceilings; Pearson Edexcel International GCSE does not tier the same way and uses its own codes, such as 4MA1 for Mathematics. The practical difference for a tutor is which paper your child is entered for, because the same topic is examined to a different depth in each.

Sharjah schools near Al Rahmaniya use both boards, sometimes in the same building for different subjects, so the first question in a trial lesson is which syllabus code appears on your child's entry. For UAE Ministry of Education equivalency, Gulf Today reported that candidates must pass five accredited IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, and that Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among those five.

MYPAges 11-16 · MYP 1-5

IB Middle Years Programme

Criterion-referenced rather than paper-driven. Each subject group is marked against four criteria, A to D, on an eight-point scale, and a report that reads 5-6-4-5 tells you far more than a percentage would. Students who cruise through MYP on classroom participation often meet the Diploma's written demands unprepared, which is the single most common reason an MYP 5 family in Sharjah starts tutoring.

Victoria International School of Sharjah runs the IB continuum, and families in Al Rahmaniya who choose it are usually planning a Diploma two or three years ahead. Tutoring at MYP 4 and 5 here works best aimed at the criteria the Diploma will reuse: structured written argument, the command terms, and the research discipline that the Personal Project exposes before the Extended Essay does.

DPAges 16-19 · DP1-DP2

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects across HL and SL, plus Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Internal Assessment carries roughly a fifth to a quarter of the grade in most subjects and falls due while teaching is still running, so DP1 collapses for students who treat coursework as a later problem. The May session is the one UAE schools sit; November exists as a route but is rare here.

A Diploma student in Al Rahmaniya typically commutes out of the community to school, which compresses the usable evening to a narrow window. Online one-to-one fits that window where a travelling tutor cannot, because the lesson starts when your child sits down rather than when a car clears the Maliha Road junction. Subject specialists for HL sciences and Mathematics AA are the scarcest part of the Sharjah pool.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

The subjects below are the ones Al Rahmaniya enquiries concentrate in. Each note says what the assessment actually rewards and where marks leave the page, because that is the information a parent cannot get from a subject list.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The proof-heavy IB maths route. HL adds proof by induction, complex numbers and a far deeper calculus option. Marks leave on unjustified steps rather than wrong answers: a correct final line with no working earns a fraction of the method marks. Students arriving from a CBSE or MYP background usually need the written reasoning rebuilt before any new content.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and technology-active work. The graphical display calculator is not optional and the examiner expects it used, cited and interpreted. The common failure is treating AI as the easy route: SL AI still demands clear interpretation of regression and hypothesis testing in sentences, which is where answers go thin.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic mechanisms, energetics and the data-based paper decide grades. HL candidates lose marks describing a mechanism in words where arrows, charges and lone pairs are required. The Internal Assessment needs a research question narrow enough to control one variable properly, which is where most Sharjah students need the earliest help.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics and fields reward students who draw the situation before writing an equation. Paper 2 extended response marks go to candidates who state the assumption they are making; the rest write a correct number and stop. Uncertainty treatment in the practical work is a reliable source of lost IA marks.

Biology

HL and SL

The content volume is the trap rather than the difficulty. Command terms separate grades: outline, explain, distinguish and evaluate each demand a different shape of answer, and a student who writes everything they know about a topic scores less than one who answers the verb that was used.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagrams carry marks that prose cannot recover. Axes labelled, equilibrium shifted, the new point named. HL adds calculation and the policy evaluation that most candidates leave as assertion. The commentaries need real sourced articles and a clear link to one syllabus concept, not a summary of the news.

Mathematics (IGCSE 0580 and 4MA1)

Core and Extended

Cambridge 0580 Extended and Pearson 4MA1 cover similar ground with different paper structures. Extended candidates lose marks on transformations, bounds and the non-calculator arithmetic that nobody practises. A tiering decision made wrongly in Year 10 caps the grade before the student has sat anything.

Physics (IGCSE 0625 and 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Electricity and waves produce the widest mark spread. Candidates describe a circuit instead of calculating it, or quote a formula without rearranging. The alternative-to-practical paper rewards students who have actually handled apparatus, which is a real consideration for anyone studying online.

Chemistry (IGCSE 0620 and 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Moles, electrolysis and the qualitative analysis tables are where Extended marks concentrate. Students who learn the ion tests as a list rather than as observations forfeit easy marks. The six-mark extended answers need a structure, not a longer paragraph.

English Language and Literature

IGCSE First Language and IB Language A

Directed writing and the unseen commentary both test control of register. Marks move when a student stops retelling the text and starts naming the effect of a specific choice. For IB Language A, the Individual Oral collapses without two well-chosen extracts and a global issue that is genuinely arguable.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats cover almost every Al Rahmaniya enquiry. All three run online over live video. The difference is intensity and who is in the room, and the right choice usually changes at least once across a two-year course.

Weekly one-to-one, same tutor

One or two sessions a week with a single subject specialist, running across the term. This is what most Al Rahmaniya families start with and it is the format that produces the clearest picture of progress, because the tutor sees the same student against the same syllabus week after week and can tell you which topics have actually settled.

  • Sixty or ninety minutes, booked at a fixed weekly slot
  • The tutor works from your child's own school scheme of work
  • Written notes after each session naming the next topic
  • The slot can shift for a mock week without losing the tutor

Assessment-block support

A short, defined run of sessions aimed at one piece of coursework or one paper: an IGCSE Paper 4 technique block, a Chemistry Internal Assessment from research question to final draft review, or an Extended Essay from topic to the first supervisor meeting. The student does the work; the tutor teaches the method and reads what the student produced.

  • Four to eight sessions with a stated endpoint
  • Feedback on the student's own draft, never a rewrite of it
  • Criterion letters and mark allocations explained before drafting
  • Finishes when the piece is submitted, not on a rolling subscription

Exam-term intensive

Raised frequency in the weeks before a June or November series, built around timed paper work rather than new content. Sessions are shorter and more frequent, and the agenda is set by what the last timed paper exposed. Families in Al Rahmaniya often move to this format after the February mocks and drop back afterwards.

  • Two or three shorter sessions a week during the run-in
  • Every session opens with a marked paper, not a topic list
  • Mark-scheme language taught directly from official command terms
  • Scheduling adjusted around Ramadan and post-Iftar study where needed

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Rahmaniya

01

What a "near me" search actually returns in Sharjah

  • Distance-ranked results optimise for the one variable that does not affect the grade
  • Al Rahmaniya's local pool thins sharply at HL sciences and Extended-tier maths
  • A group timetable at a centre rarely fits a Diploma student's evening
  • Matching on syllabus code first is the only filter that changes outcomes

A local search for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Rahmaniya returns three kinds of result, and only one of them is what the parent wanted. The first is a directory listing filtered by distance, which ranks a university student in University City above a Chemistry HL specialist in another emirate purely on kilometres. The second is an agency page naming every area in Sharjah in a footer list, where Al Rahmaniya appears because a template inserted it. The third is a tuition centre with premises, which is a genuinely local option but a group one, with a fixed timetable your child's school day may not fit.

None of those three results tells you the thing that determines whether the tutoring works, which is whether the person teaching has taught the exact paper your child is entered for. That gap is not an accident. Distance is easy to publish and subject depth is not, so the market publishes distance. A parent in Al Rahmaniya then does the sensible thing with the information available and books the closest option, which is how a family ends up with a general maths tutor working on a student entered for Cambridge 0580 Extended Paper 4.

The honest reframing is to treat the question as a supply question. Al Rahmaniya is a villa community, not a city centre, and the pool of people within a short drive who have taught Physics 0625 Extended or Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL is genuinely thin. Widen the radius to all of Sharjah and it improves. Drop the radius entirely and match on subject and board instead, and the pool becomes large enough that your child gets a specialist rather than a generalist who happens to live nearby.

That is the trade this page is making the case for. You give up the idea of someone arriving at the villa, which IB Gram does not offer in the UAE in any case, and in exchange your child gets a tutor chosen for having taught the syllabus rather than for a postcode. The lesson happens over live video on Gulf Standard Time, the first one is free, and if the match is wrong you say so and the match changes rather than the schedule limping on.

02

Three questions that test whether a tutor knows the syllabus

Parents are told to check qualifications, and qualifications are worth checking, but a degree certificate does not reveal whether somebody has taught the current specification. Three questions do, and they take four minutes in a trial lesson. Ask them of any tutor, including ours. The point is not to catch anybody out; it is that a tutor who has genuinely taught the paper answers these instantly and specifically, and one who has not gives you an answer about enthusiasm.

The first question is which syllabus code your child is sitting. A tutor who teaches IGCSE Chemistry should want to know whether it is Cambridge 0620 or Pearson 4CH1 before discussing anything else, because the papers differ and so does the practical assessment route. The second is where candidates lose marks in that subject. A specific answer names a topic and a mark-scheme behaviour. A vague one names revision. The third is what the Internal Assessment or coursework criteria are called, letter by letter, with the marks attached.

The table below sets out what a thin answer and a strong answer sound like, so you can tell them apart in real time. Use it in the free trial lesson. It is also a reasonable filter for a tuition centre or an independent tutor you found through a community group, and it is more useful than a star rating, because a rating tells you about somebody else's child and this tells you about the person who will be teaching yours.

One more practical note for Al Rahmaniya families specifically. Bring your child's most recent marked paper to the trial lesson, not the report card. A report card is a summary written for a parent; a marked paper shows a tutor exactly which marks were available and which were left behind, and a specialist will start diagnosing from it within a minute or two.

FOUR-MINUTE SYLLABUS TEST FOR ANY IB OR IGCSE TUTOR
Ask thisA thin answer sounds likeA specialist answers like thisWhy it separates them
Which syllabus code is my child entered for?"IGCSE Chemistry, I cover all boards.""Is it Cambridge 0620 or Pearson 4CH1? The practical route differs and so does Paper 6."Nobody who has taught both boards treats them as interchangeable
Where do candidates lose marks in this subject?"They don't revise consistently enough.""Electrolysis half-equations and the qualitative analysis observations, every series."Diagnosis requires having marked the paper, not read about it
What are the coursework criteria called?"There's an internal project component.""Criteria A to E for a DP science IA, 24 marks, Evaluation is where most students stall."Criterion letters and mark totals are memorised only by people who use them
Which exam series are we working towards?"The next exam session.""June, with November as the resit route; the February/March series is India only."A tutor planning backwards from a real series builds a different schedule
What will you do with my child's draft IA?"I'll help get it finished.""Read it, mark it against the criteria, and tell your child what to rewrite."The second answer is the only one that keeps the student inside IB honesty rules
03

Is the tutor legally permitted to teach privately in the UAE?

This is the question almost nobody asks and it is the one with real consequences. Private tutoring in the UAE is regulated by permit. The private tuition work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. The u.ae guidance is explicit that it is granted free of charge for two years, and that individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so any figure you see quoted for it is somebody's guess.

The eligibility list is wider than parents expect. It includes teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged fifteen to eighteen, and university students. That last category matters in this part of Sharjah, because University City sits a short drive from Al Rahmaniya and undergraduate tutoring is a visible local market. A university student with a permit is operating properly; the question is whether they have taught your child's paper.

There is a separate restriction that catches families out. A school teacher may not take paid private tutoring work with students enrolled at their own school. Abu Dhabi's ADEK has set professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff to that effect, as reported by Gulf News, and the permit itself carries a code of conduct on the same point. So the offer of your child's own class teacher, privately, after hours, is not the inside track it sounds like. Treat it as a reason to look elsewhere.

MoHRE's own service page, "Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing", lists the application route through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system, with a two-working-day completion time and no fee. That page is where a parent can read the current position rather than taking a tutoring website's word for it, including this one.

Online one-to-one against an in-home visit in Al Rahmaniya

The in-home option is real and parents are right to weigh it. What they are rarely shown is the arithmetic. Market rates reported for in-home one-to-one tuition in the UAE run roughly AED 180-350 in Bestimate's 2026 rate table, with independent home tutors quoted up to AED 500 an hour, against roughly AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor online. Unitors publishes IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. The gap between those bands is not a quality premium. It is travel, priced into the hour.

For Al Rahmaniya that travel is a specific number rather than an abstraction. A tutor coming from Sharjah city or across the Dubai border is committing to a round trip through the Maliha Road and E311 junctions at exactly the hour they are busiest. A tutor absorbing ninety minutes of driving for a sixty-minute lesson either charges for it or restricts how many students they take, and in both cases the parent pays. Online, that ninety minutes stays in the day and the lesson can start at the hour your child is actually ready.

The second effect is the one that matters more. Travel caps the pool. If the tutor has to reach your villa, your choice is limited to specialists willing to drive to Al Rahmaniya on a Tuesday, which for Chemistry HL or Mathematics AA HL may be nobody at all. Remove the drive and the constraint becomes the timetable instead of the map. That is the whole argument, and the table below sets it out without flattering the online option on the points where it genuinely loses.

To be plain about those losses: a very young child, a student who needs physical apparatus in front of them, or one who cannot be left to work independently between sessions is better served face to face, and we say so when an enquiry looks like that. IB Gram does not sell in-home visits in the UAE, so there is no version of this page where that recommendation is a sales pitch.

Where subject cover runs thin, and what happens then

  • Deep cover: maths both routes, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Economics, English
  • Thin cover: Further Maths, HL Computer Science, Music, Design Technology, Global Politics
  • Arabic as a first language needs a teacher who meets the regulator's own standard
  • An honest no at enquiry costs you an email; an undisclosed gap costs you a term

No tutoring platform covers every subject at every level at every hour, and the ones that imply otherwise are the ones you discover the truth about in week three. The honest position is that cover is deep in the subjects most students take and thin in the ones few take. For an Al Rahmaniya enquiry, mathematics, the three sciences, economics and English are reliably covered at both IB and IGCSE level. Narrower combinations are where the answer sometimes has to be no, or not this term.

The subjects that go thin in the Sharjah pool are predictable: Further Mathematics, Computer Science at HL, Music, Design Technology, Global Politics, the second and third languages beyond French and Spanish, and Business Management at HL during coursework season. Arabic as a first language is a specific case, because KHDA requires that teachers of Arabic and Islamic Education in Dubai private schools hold the appropriate approval from KHDA, which sets a genuine standard for anyone teaching those subjects seriously.

What we do when cover is thin is say so at the enquiry stage rather than booking you in and improvising. In practice there are three outcomes. The subject is covered and a specialist is free, in which case a trial lesson is scheduled. The subject is covered but the only specialist has no slot in your child's window, in which case you are told what the realistic alternative times are. Or the subject is not covered at the level you need, in which case the answer is no, with a suggestion of where else to look.

That third outcome is published deliberately. The competitor audit behind this page found no UAE tutoring site that discloses a coverage limit anywhere, and several that route UAE parents to overseas phone numbers rather than admit where delivery happens. A disclosed limit is worth more to you than an undisclosed promise, because it is the one you can plan around.

06

SPEA, and what the Sharjah regulator actually controls

Parents in Sharjah hear three regulator names and are rarely told which one applies to them. The Sharjah Private Education Authority regulates private education in the emirate, as the UAE government's own private-schools guidance states. Dubai's equivalent is the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, which oversees the quality of private education there. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain fall under the Department of Education and Knowledge. Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah sit under the federal Ministry of Education, which supervises private schools in those three emirates, and Ras Al Khaimah has its own Department of Knowledge.

The Sharjah position has a feature that matters more than inspection ratings. The same government guidance records that the Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah authorities approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Curriculum and fee approval, not merely inspection, sits with the emirate. For an Al Rahmaniya parent that means a question about why a school teaches a particular board, or why a fee has changed, has an address in Sharjah rather than in Dubai or at federal level.

This also explains why your neighbour's experience may not transfer. A family that moved from Al Nahda into a Dubai school is now dealing with KHDA; a family whose child is at a Sharjah school is dealing with SPEA; and a child sitting exams as a private candidate deals with the exam board directly regardless of either. Three different bodies, three different processes, one community. Knowing which one you are actually under saves a great deal of misdirected effort.

One thing a tutoring service cannot do is borrow any of that authority. IB Gram is not approved, accredited or licensed by SPEA, KHDA, ADEK, the Ministry of Education, the IB or Cambridge, and no honest page would imply it is. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific instrument issued to training institutes with premises in Dubai, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. It is not something an online matching service holds, and the phrase "regulator-approved tutors" should make any parent close the tab.

07

What a tutor may and may not touch on an IA or Extended Essay

  • Taught: criteria by letter, research-question design, referencing, draft feedback
  • Not available: drafting, rewriting to completion, or supplying text to insert
  • A marked draft comes back with criterion references and a rewrite instruction
  • Coursework blocks are booked a term ahead, not in the final fortnight

This is the boundary that decides whether tutoring helps a Diploma student or ends their Diploma. IB academic-honesty rules make the assessed work the student's own, and a student who submits material they did not produce faces a malpractice finding. The research behind this page found a site in this market selling completed Internal Assessments outright. That is not a cheaper version of tutoring. It is a different product with a different outcome, and the student carries the consequence rather than the seller.

The useful line is between method and product. A tutor can teach the criteria and what each letter actually rewards. A tutor can discuss three candidate research questions and explain why two of them cannot be controlled with school apparatus. A tutor can read a draft the student wrote and mark it against the published criteria, then say which paragraph fails to meet Evaluation and why. A tutor can teach referencing properly, model a worked example on a different topic, and rehearse the supervisor meeting. None of that touches the student's authorship.

What a tutor must not do is supply text. Not a paragraph to insert, not a rewritten conclusion, not a method section drafted on the student's behalf, not an edit so heavy that the voice changes. The student writes every word of the exploration, the essay and the commentary. Where a draft is weak, the feedback names the criterion and the problem and sends the student back to it. That is slower than the alternative and it is the only version that is safe.

For an Al Rahmaniya family the practical consequence is scheduling. Coursework support has to start early enough that the student has time to do the writing themselves. A Chemistry IA begun eight weeks out can be taught properly; the same IA begun ten days before the school deadline leaves no honest route, and anyone promising one at that point is promising something else. Start the research-question conversation in the term before the deadline, not the week of it.

08

Arabic, Islamic Education and UAE Social Studies alongside IGCSE

Every private school in the UAE teaches Arabic, Islamic Education and social or moral studies regardless of the international curriculum it is licensed for. The federal position is that private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations. In Dubai, KHDA's mandatory-subjects guidelines required implementation by the start of the 2025-26 academic year, with April 2026 for schools whose year begins in April. Sharjah families see the same subjects on the timetable.

Parents in Al Rahmaniya often treat these as the subjects that do not count, and then discover in Year 11 that they occupy real timetable hours and real homework evenings. The organisational rules are specific. KHDA requires separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and states that combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arab students and for Arabic as a first language.

There is also a content restriction worth knowing before buying any material. For the mandatory UAE subjects, the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the Ministry of Education is strictly prohibited. So a tutor working in this space teaches the school's own prescribed material and the skills around it, rather than importing a parallel syllabus. Instructional time is calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit, schools may vary lesson length provided weekly totals are met, and the guidance advises at least twenty-five minutes for any mandatory-subject lesson.

The equivalency angle closes the loop. Gulf Today reported that for the British track, Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five accredited subjects required at grade E or 3 for Ministry of Education equivalency. So these subjects matter for the school report and the timetable, and separately your child needs five other subjects at the stated grade for the equivalency count. Those are two different requirements and conflating them is a common and expensive mistake.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Rahmaniya

Al Rahmaniya does not sit alone. Enquiries from this part of Sharjah come alongside these neighbouring communities, and each one changes the practical detail of when a lesson can start and which schools the children attend.

Al Tai

Immediately alongside, built around Nasma Residences. Families here share school runs with Al Rahmaniya and Scholars International Academy is the closest British-curriculum option, which makes IGCSE the dominant enquiry.

Muwaileh

Denser and older, with Wesgreen International School and the International School of Creative Science inside it. A six-kilometre run from Al Rahmaniya that takes fifteen minutes at nine in the morning and far longer at two.

University City

Sharjah's higher-education cluster, which gives the area a visible supply of undergraduate tutors. Useful for maths at Year 8, rarely the right answer for Chemistry HL or a Paper 4 Extended entry.

Al Zahia

Villa and townhouse community off the E311 with its own retail centre. Diploma families here commute into Sharjah city or across to Dubai, so the usable tutoring window opens late and closes early.

Al Majaz

On the Khalid Lagoon, apartment-dominated, and the community many Al Rahmaniya families moved out of. Children often stay at the same school after the move, which stretches the school run considerably.

Al Nouf

Established inland Sharjah housing closer to the Al Dhaid road. A different school mix again, weighted towards CBSE and the Ministry curriculum, with IGCSE families travelling further for their entry.

Tilal City

Newer master-planned plots south of the airport road. Still filling, so the local tutoring supply lags the population by a couple of years, which is precisely when an online match matters most.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Rahmaniya

Muwaileh, Al Tai and University City

The schools most Al Rahmaniya children actually attend sit in this arc west and south of the community. British-curriculum provision dominates, with IGCSE entries split between Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel depending on the subject and the department. Students we support attend schools in this cluster.

  • Wesgreen International School
  • The International School of Creative Science, Muwaileh
  • Scholars International Academy, Al Tai
  • Sharjah American International School
  • Australian International School, Sharjah

Sharjah city and Al Hoshi

For IB families the pull is towards Al Hoshi and the older Sharjah city schools, which is a longer run from Al Rahmaniya and the reason Diploma sessions here tend to be booked after seven in the evening rather than straight after school.

  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Sharjah English School
  • GEMS Our Own English High School, Sharjah
  • Delhi Private School, Sharjah
  • The Millennium School, Sharjah

Schools are named as local context so that parents can recognise their own catchment; no affiliation, endorsement or commercial relationship with any school is implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Tell us the syllabus code, not just the subject

The enquiry form asks for board, subject, level and the next assessment date. Cambridge 0580 Extended and Pearson 4MA1 go to different tutors. If you do not know the code, your child's exam entry slip or the subject page of their school report carries it, and we will work it out with you.

  2. 02

Get an honest answer on availability

You are told within the day whether a specialist for that exact combination is free in your child's evening window, free at another time, or not available this term. An Al Rahmaniya school run often decides which of those three it is, so send the time your child actually gets home.

  3. 03

Meet the tutor in a free trial lesson

The first lesson costs nothing and is a real lesson, not a sales call. Send a recent marked paper beforehand. Use the four-minute syllabus test from this page on the tutor; a specialist will not mind, and the answers tell you more than any review would.

  4. 04

Agree a slot and a target, then review it

Sessions are booked at a fixed weekly time with a stated goal: a tier decision, a paper technique, an IA from research question to submission. After each session you get written notes naming the next topic, and if the match is wrong you say so and it changes.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched on the paper, not the postcode

The filter is which syllabus and level the tutor has taught, which is the only variable on the shortlist that moves a grade. A specialist two emirates away over live video beats a generalist six kilometres from Al Rahmaniya, and the trial lesson is where you verify that for yourself.

Rates shown with their sources

Every AED figure on this page is attributed to the competitor or rate table it came from, with no invented price list and no hidden quote. You can check Unitors, Bestimate and EdFlik yourself. Three of six ranking pages in this market publish no price at all.

Coverage limits stated up front

If no specialist covers your child's subject at the level you need, or none is free in your window, you are told at the enquiry stage. That answer is less pleasant than a booking confirmation and considerably more useful when you are planning a term.

The honesty boundary is written down

Tutors teach, review and give feedback on the student's own work. Nobody drafts, rewrites or supplies text for an IA, Extended Essay or TOK essay. That boundary is published here because in this market it is a genuine difference rather than a formality.

Scheduling built around the Sharjah week

Slots run on Gulf Standard Time around the school day, with room to shift for mock weeks and to move to post-Iftar timing during Ramadan. A travelling tutor cannot flex that way, which is a large part of why online works better for a Diploma evening here.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Rahmaniya: your questions answered

Is there actually an IB or IGCSE tutor near me in Al Rahmaniya?+

There are tutors near Al Rahmaniya, including independent tutors and undergraduates from nearby University City, and tuition centres a short drive away in Muwaileh and Sharjah city. Whether one of them has taught your child's exact paper is a separate question, and in a villa community this size the honest answer for HL sciences or Extended-tier maths is often no. IB Gram does not place tutors in UAE homes; lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. That removes distance from the shortlist so the match can be made on syllabus experience instead, which is the variable that changes a grade.

How do I check a Sharjah tutor is allowed to teach privately?+

Ask whether they hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, and ask to see it. UAE government guidance states the permit is granted free of charge for two years, so there is no cost reason for a tutor not to have one, and people tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. MoHRE's own service page, Private Tutor Licensing, lists the application route and a two-working-day completion time. Separately, a school teacher may not take paid tutoring work with students enrolled at their own school.

What do tutors around Al Rahmaniya charge per hour?+

Published market figures, not ours. Bestimate's 2026 Dubai rate table puts in-home one-to-one at roughly AED 180-350, with independent home tutors quoted up to AED 500. Unitors lists IGCSE tuition from AED 150 and IB from AED 200 online. EdFlik advertises from AED 45-65 at the budget end, usually meaning a university-student tutor. BartyED publishes AED 650 for a premium named tutor. The spread between the in-home and online bands is largely travel priced into the hour rather than a difference in teaching quality, which is worth knowing before you compare quotes.

Which exam series will my child in Sharjah actually sit?+

For Cambridge International, UAE candidates sit the June and November series. The February/March series is offered in India only, so any UAE page quoting a February exam window or a late-November entry deadline for it is giving you a date for another country. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. For the IB Diploma, the May session is the one UAE schools sit, with November as an uncommon alternative. Always confirm the current dates on cambridgeinternational.org, qualifications.pearson.com or with your school's exams officer, because provisional timetables are revised.

Does online tuition really work as well for a Sharjah student?+

For a secondary student working towards written papers, the evidence from how these lessons actually run is that it works well, because the limiting factor is the quality of the diagnosis rather than the room. The tutor marks a paper on screen, annotates it live, and the student keeps the file. Where online is weaker is with young children, students who need physical apparatus in front of them, and students who will not work between sessions without supervision. IB Gram offers no in-home option in the UAE, so when an enquiry looks like one of those cases we say so rather than selling around it.

My child is at a school in Muwaileh. When can a session start?+

Most British-curriculum schools in the Muwaileh and Al Tai arc finish in the early-to-mid afternoon, and the run back to Al Rahmaniya is short outside peak. In practice that puts a realistic first slot somewhere from late afternoon, with Diploma students usually better served after seven once they have eaten and done school homework. Because lessons are online there is no travel to absorb on either side, so a ninety-minute session at eight in the evening is as workable as one at five. Tell us the time your child is actually home and we schedule from there.

What can an Al Rahmaniya tutor do on a Chemistry Internal Assessment?+

A tutor can teach the assessment criteria letter by letter, help your child narrow a research question to something controllable, explain what Evaluation actually rewards, and read and mark a draft your child produced. A tutor cannot supply text, rewrite a section, or edit to completion. Under IB academic-honesty rules the work must be the student's own, and submitting material produced by somebody else risks a malpractice finding against your child. Some sites in this market sell finished Internal Assessments; that is a different product with a serious consequence attached, and the student carries it rather than the seller.

Which regulator covers my child's school in Al Rahmaniya?+

The Sharjah Private Education Authority regulates private education in the emirate, so a Sharjah school sits under SPEA. UAE government guidance also records that the Sharjah authority approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, which is broader than inspection alone. If your child commutes to a Dubai school the relevant body is KHDA instead; Abu Dhabi and Al Ain fall under ADEK, Ras Al Khaimah under its Department of Knowledge, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah under the federal Ministry of Education. Knowing which applies saves a lot of misdirected enquiries.

Is a university-student tutor from University City good value?+

At the right level, yes. University students are explicitly eligible for the MoHRE private tuition work permit, and the budget end of the UAE market, around AED 45-150 an hour on published competitor rates, is largely this group. For Year 7 to Year 9 maths or structured homework supervision that can be sensible. For a Cambridge 0580 Extended Paper 4 entry or a Chemistry HL Internal Assessment it usually is not, because the work needs somebody who has marked those papers against the published mark scheme. Match the tier of tutor to the tier of assessment.

What happens if no specialist covers my child's subject?+

You are told at the enquiry stage. Cover is reliable in mathematics on both IB routes, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Economics and English at IB and IGCSE level. It runs thin in Further Mathematics, Computer Science at HL, Music, Design Technology, Global Politics and the less common languages. When the subject is covered but no slot fits your child's evening, you get the realistic alternative times instead of a booking that quietly fails. When it is not covered at the level you need, the answer is no and a suggestion of where else to look.

Does Al Rahmaniya have an IB World School inside it?+

No. Al Rahmaniya is a villa community and its children travel out to school, with the nearest IB continuum provision at Victoria International School of Sharjah in Al Hoshi and most British-curriculum options sitting in the Muwaileh and Al Tai arc. That geography is part of why tutoring supply inside the community is thin: tutors cluster where schools cluster. It is also why an online match makes more practical sense here than in a dense school district, since the constraint on a Diploma evening is the commute home rather than the tutor's address.

From Al Rahmaniya, how many IGCSE passes does the equivalency count need?+

Gulf Today reported the Ministry of Education requirement for the British track as passes in five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates at no less than grade E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five. One competitor page in this market publishes a six-subject figure, which is wrong. Equivalency is a Ministry process, not something a tutoring service performs, so confirm the current rule on the Ministry's own channel before acting.

Can lessons move during Ramadan or the Sharjah mock season?+

Yes, and both are planned for rather than worked around. During Ramadan families commonly move sessions to a post-Iftar slot, which an online lesson can absorb without anyone rearranging a drive. Mock weeks usually mean pausing new content and switching to marked-paper work, or dropping a week and picking the same tutor up afterwards. The fixed weekly slot exists so there is something to move; it is not a contract to sit in the same chair at the same minute for a year. Tell the tutor the mock dates as soon as the school publishes them.

Is IB Gram approved by SPEA or KHDA?+

No, and no tutoring service should claim otherwise without the permit number to show. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation or licence from SPEA, KHDA, ADEK, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. A KHDA Educational Services Permit is a specific instrument for training institutes with premises in Dubai, with initial approval first and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. What matters for a parent is the individual tutor's MoHRE private tuition work permit and their subject record. Treat the phrase "regulator-approved tutors" as a warning sign rather than a credential.

What should I bring to the free trial lesson?+

Your child's most recent marked past paper or assessment, with the marks and comments still on it, and the syllabus code from their exam entry. A report card summarises; a marked paper shows exactly which marks were available and which were left behind, and a subject specialist will start diagnosing from it in the first few minutes. Bring the school's assessment calendar too, if you have it, because the next deadline shapes what the first few sessions should cover. The trial lesson is free, with no card required and no obligation to book afterwards.

Start with the syllabus code and a trial lesson

If you have been searching for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Rahmaniya, the useful next step is not a wider map. Send the board, the subject, the level and the date of your child's next assessment, and you will get a straight answer on whether a specialist for that combination is free in your evening window. The first lesson is free, runs one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and is a real lesson built around a paper your child has already sat. If the match is not right, say so and it changes. Nothing on this page is a price list, and every rate quoted carries the source it came from.
