IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Al Qusaidat

Searching for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Al Qusaidat usually means one of two things: a Year 11 student who needs a specific paper fixed, or a Diploma student whose Internal Assessment is drifting. This page answers both by syllabus rather than by geography. It sets out paper weightings, command terms, criteria letters with their mark allocations, and the exact places Ras Al Khaimah scripts lose marks. Lessons are one-to-one and live over video on Gulf Standard Time.

IB & IGCSE in Al Qusaidat

Near me is the wrong question; which paper is the right one

Al Qusaidat is a short drive from Julphar and the older Ras Al Khaimah city grid, and the private schools serving it sit mostly in Al Nakheel, Al Hamra and Mina Al Arab. That geography produces a specific problem. The emirate's private-school set is small, so a cohort sitting Physics 0625 Extended or Diploma Chemistry Higher Level might number a dozen students, taught by somebody also carrying two other sciences. The teaching is often good. The specialism is thin, by arithmetic rather than by anybody's fault.

Which is why a search for a tutor near me is a reasonable instinct and a poor filter. Distance tells you nothing about whether the person has worked the 0620 qualitative analysis table or the Mathematics Analysis and Approaches Higher Level Paper 3. Those are the questions that decide whether a term of tuition moves a grade. Ras Al Khaimah families who filter by proximity first and syllabus second end up with a general science graduate for a specific paper problem.

IB Gram matches on the syllabus code, the tier or level, and the component that is weak, then delivers the lesson one-to-one over live video. We do not send tutors to UAE addresses; home visits are a service we run in India only. A family in Al Qusaidat gets whoever has taught the paper, not whoever can reach the roundabout by six. That is the entire trade being offered and it is worth stating in those terms.

This page is built as syllabus content rather than as an argument about delivery. It covers the IGCSE to Diploma bridge subject by subject, the Mathematics route choice between Analysis and Approaches and Applications and Interpretation, the command terms that quietly decide long-answer marks, the Internal Assessment criteria with their letters and mark allocations, and the word and page limits across assessed components. Those are the five things Ras Al Khaimah parents ask about once the panic about finding somebody local has passed.

One piece of advice before the detail. Bring the marked script. Not the report card, not the predicted grade, not a description of which topics feel difficult, but the actual mock paper with the examiner's or teacher's marks on it. A marked script shows within five minutes whether a student is losing marks to missing content, to writing answers mentally and skipping the method line, or to answering a question that was not asked. Those three problems look identical in a parent evening conversation and need completely different plans. Every section below is more useful with a script in front of you, and the first thing a good tutor will ask for is the same document.

Ras Al Khaimah also deserves one specific caution about exam dates. Cambridge runs its IGCSE, O Level and International A Level papers in a June series and a November series for centres here, and the February and March series it offers belongs to India alone. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs in May/June and November. Diploma candidates at UAE schools sit the May session, and this page deliberately publishes no specific IB date, because the board's own site is the only place those should be read and your child's Diploma coordinator is the person who confirms them.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

An Al Qusaidat student may be sitting IGCSE now and the Diploma in two years, or arriving into either from an Indian or American school. These are the three programmes that produce the syllabus questions on this page.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson International GCSE

Terminal written papers with Core and Extended tiers at Cambridge and a 9 to 1 scale at Pearson. The syllabus code is the operative detail: Cambridge 0580 Mathematics and Pearson 4MA1 Mathematics A cover similar content through different paper structures, and a tutor who knows one does not automatically know the other's question style.

Ras Al Khaimah centres sit the June and November Cambridge series; the February and March series is offered to India only. Pearson International GCSE runs in May/June and November. Every Cambridge centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones and the correct zone timetable is the only one worth planning from.

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects across Standard and Higher Level, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries an Internal Assessment marked against named criteria by the school and moderated externally, which means a sizeable share of the final grade is decided before any exam paper is opened.

UAE schools sit the May session. No specific IB session or results date is published on this page, because the IB's own site is the only authority for those and it should be checked with your child's Diploma coordinator rather than taken from a tutoring page. The Internal Assessment deadlines that matter most are internal to the school and sit far earlier than families expect.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

Criterion-referenced assessment across eight subject groups, culminating in the Personal Project. MYP marks are reported on a one-to-eight scale per criterion rather than as a percentage, which is the single biggest source of confusion for parents transferring in from an Indian or British system where a percentage is the familiar currency.

An MYP student moving to the Diploma in Ras Al Khaimah faces a sharper jump than an IGCSE student does in mathematics and the sciences, because MYP depth is lighter and the Diploma's first term assumes algebraic fluency. That gap is eight to twelve weeks of work if it is caught in Year 11 and a whole Diploma year if it is not.

AS/ALAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

Cambridge International AS and A Level

The alternative post-IGCSE route for a student who does not move into the Diploma. Narrower and deeper: three or four subjects rather than six, with no Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge. The Internal Assessment habits a Diploma student builds have no equivalent here, which changes what tuition is for.

This route matters to the Ministry of Education equivalency file. The published British track asks for one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or above, or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level, alongside five accredited GCSE or IGCSE passes at no less than E or grade 3.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Each note below names the component where Ras Al Khaimah scripts actually lose marks, with the syllabus code attached. This is the list a tutor needs before a first lesson, and it is more useful than a subject menu.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (DP)

HL and SL

Higher Level sits three papers plus the exploration, and Paper 3 is the extended problem-solving component that most students meet for the first time in a mock. Losses cluster in proof by induction, complex numbers in polar form, and the moment a question asks for justification rather than an answer.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation (DP)

HL and SL

Technology-rich and statistics-heavy, with a graphical display calculator assumed throughout. Students lose marks by giving an unrounded answer, omitting units, or treating a modelling question as a calculation question rather than one requiring a comment on the model's fit.

Chemistry (DP)

HL and SL

Energetics, equilibrium and organic mechanisms carry the paper. The scientific investigation is marked on research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation at six marks each, and the commonest failure is an investigation with no genuine independent variable range.

Physics (DP)

HL and SL

Paper 1 multiple choice punishes imprecise definitions and Paper 2 rewards algebraic rearrangement before substitution. Uncertainty propagation is examinable, routinely under-taught, and the fastest marks on the whole syllabus for a student who learns the three rules.

Biology (DP)

HL and SL

The volume of content hides the real issue, which is command-term discipline in six and eight-mark questions. A student who writes everything known about a topic scores the two marks the mark scheme lists and nothing for the rest of the page.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core, Extended, Higher tier

Method marks are the whole game. Students who work mentally and write a single line lose the credit for the correct approach. Algebraic fractions, graph transformations and non-replacement probability trees are where the predictable losses sit in Ras Al Khaimah mock scripts.

Chemistry (0620 / 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Moles arithmetic under time pressure, organic reaction pathways and the qualitative analysis table. The analysis table is pure recall and the cheapest marks in the paper; students who skip it in revision are leaving credit untouched on the desk.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Electricity is the recurring problem, particularly potential dividers and series-parallel combinations. The alternative-to-practical paper is learnable through vocabulary about repeats, precision and anomalous results, which makes it the highest-yield revision target in the subject.

Biology (0610 / 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Genetics crosses, osmosis practical write-ups and the extended responses. The mark scheme accepts a short list of specific phrases; teaching those phrases is worth more than another reading of the chapter.

English as a Second Language (0510 / 0511)

Single tier

The summary question has a word ceiling and a content-point tally. Fluent writers often score poorly because paraphrasing removes the required lifted detail. Reading precision, not expression, is what the paper measures.

Economics (DP and 0455)

HL, SL and IGCSE

Diagram accuracy decides the band at both levels. A labelled axis, a shifted curve and a marked new equilibrium earn marks that prose does not. At Diploma level the evaluation sentence must reach a judgement rather than list both sides.

Computer Science (0478 and DP)

IGCSE and DP

Data representation and network concepts are heavily recalled and heavily mis-remembered, especially hexadecimal conversion. Pseudocode must be internally consistent, which is a writing habit rather than a reading one and only builds by producing code under time.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three shapes of support work for a syllabus-led problem, and the right one depends on whether the weakness is content, technique or an assessed component with a deadline.

Single-component repair

Six to ten sessions aimed at one paper or one criterion rather than a whole subject. Used where a mock shows a strong Paper 2 and a weak Paper 3, or an Internal Assessment stuck on data analysis. The brief is narrow on purpose, because a narrow brief is the only kind that can be judged as finished.

  • One component, one named target
  • Opens with the marked script or the current draft
  • Progress measured against the published criteria
  • Ends when the component is at the intended band

Two-year Diploma accompaniment

A fortnightly slot across Years 12 and 13 in one Higher Level subject, timed around the school's own Internal Assessment and Extended Essay deadlines. Lighter than weekly, and it exists mainly to stop a subject drifting between report cards, which is where most Diploma damage happens.

  • Fortnightly, one Higher Level subject
  • Anchored to the school's internal deadlines
  • Steps up to weekly in the final term
  • Written note after each session

IGCSE to Diploma bridge, over the summer

Six to eight sessions between Year 11 and Year 12 in mathematics or a science, closing the specific gap between what IGCSE Extended covers and what the Diploma's first term assumes. The cheapest intervention in the whole Diploma, and the one almost nobody buys because nothing has gone wrong yet.

  • Summer block before Year 12 starts
  • Mathematics or one science, never both at once
  • Content gap list drawn from the actual syllabuses
  • Ends with a diagnostic on Diploma-level questions

What a tutor near me actually gets you in a small emirate

  • A distance filter in a small emirate reduces choice rather than guaranteeing quality
  • The in-home premium pays for travel, not for subject depth
  • Matching here is by syllabus code, level and weak component
  • Send the marked script; it is worth more than a description of the problem

In Dubai, filtering by proximity is a reasonable strategy, because the pool behind the filter is deep. Dubai has 227 private schools and 387,441 private-school students across 17 curricula. Ras Al Khaimah's private provision is a fraction of that, concentrated in a handful of places, and the Diploma or Extended-tier cohort in any one subject is small. Filter that pool by distance and you are not choosing between specialists; you are choosing between the two or three people who are free.

The honest version of the in-home question: it exists, it costs more, and the premium pays for travel rather than expertise. UAE rate surveys place in-home one-to-one at roughly AED 180-500 per hour including the visit, against roughly AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. In this emirate the extra money buys a shorter list, which is the opposite of what a parent paying a premium expects.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE. Lessons are one-to-one and live over video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, and the matching is done on the syllabus code, the level and the weak component. A student in Al Qusaidat stuck on Mathematics Analysis and Approaches Higher Level Paper 3 gets somebody who has taught that paper. That is the whole argument, and the rest of this page is the syllabus detail that makes it checkable.

If you want the short answer before the detail: send the code, the level or tier, and the marked script or current draft. Everything after that is a conversation about the component rather than about the catchment area.

02

The IGCSE to Diploma bridge, subject by subject

The gap between IGCSE Extended and the Diploma's first term is not evenly distributed. In mathematics it is wide and immediate. In the sciences it is narrower in content and much wider in experimental write-up expectations. In the humanities it is mostly about essay structure and source handling rather than about facts. Treating the transition as one single jump is why so many Diploma students have a difficult first November.

The table below is the version nobody in this market publishes. It names, per subject, what a student arrives with, what the Diploma assumes in the first term, and roughly how long the gap takes to close if it is addressed before Year 12 starts rather than after the first report. The weeks column is deliberately conservative and assumes one session a week with work in between.

Two patterns recur with Ras Al Khaimah students specifically. Students arriving from an Indian-curriculum school are usually ahead on algebraic manipulation and behind on extended written answers. Students arriving from a British-curriculum school are the reverse. Knowing which pattern applies changes what the summer block should contain, and it is visible in ten minutes of looking at a Year 11 script.

The cheapest moment to act on this table is the summer between Year 11 and Year 12, when nothing has gone wrong yet and therefore nobody feels any urgency. Six to eight sessions in that window cost a fraction of the remedial work the same gap generates in the final term of Year 13, and they buy something the later work cannot: a student who starts the Diploma believing they can do the subject. Confidence in the first term determines how much a student volunteers in class, and how much they volunteer determines how quickly the teacher notices a problem. That is the real reason the bridge is worth buying early.

Use the weeks column as a planning figure rather than a promise. A student who does the set work between sessions moves faster than the range suggests; a student who treats the session as the whole of the effort moves slower, and no tutor can compensate for that. The honest version of the arithmetic is that tuition supplies direction and feedback, and the student supplies the hours.

Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation

This is the one decision a Ras Al Khaimah Diploma student cannot easily reverse, and it is usually made in the spring of Year 11 with incomplete information. Analysis and Approaches is the algebraic, proof-oriented route. Applications and Interpretation is the statistical, modelling, technology-heavy route. Neither is a soft option and both exist at Standard and Higher Level, which means there are four distinct courses hiding behind the word mathematics.

The route matters for university admission rather than for difficulty. Engineering, physics, mathematics and most quantitative economics routes expect Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, and several admissions pages are explicit about it. Medicine, life sciences, business, psychology and design routes generally accept Applications and Interpretation, often at Higher Level. A student who wants engineering and takes Applications and Interpretation has made a reversible mistake only if it is caught in the first term.

The practical test is not which one a student prefers. It is how a student behaved on the 0580 Extended or 4MA1 Higher paper. A student who wrote full algebraic working and enjoyed the harder manipulation questions belongs in Analysis and Approaches. A student who reached correct answers by calculator and lost method marks belongs in Applications and Interpretation, and will do better there than in a course that punishes exactly that habit for two years.

There is a Ras Al Khaimah-specific wrinkle. Where a school runs only one of the four courses, the choice is made by the timetable rather than by the student, and the family discovers it after enrolment. If your child is aiming at a course with a hard Analysis and Approaches requirement, ask which of the four the school actually offers before Year 12 begins, in writing, and ask whether Higher Level is available in it. A school offering only Applications and Interpretation at Standard Level is a perfectly good school that happens to close off a specific university route, and that is a fact to learn in Year 11 rather than in Year 13.

Whichever route is chosen, the exploration sits in both and is worth the same share of the grade. The criteria are identical across all four courses, which means the planning work described later on this page applies regardless of the decision made here.

Command terms, and the marks they quietly decide

Most long-answer marks are lost on the instruction rather than on the content. A student who writes everything they know about osmosis in answer to a question beginning outline has written four paragraphs for two marks. The IB and Cambridge both publish command terms with defined expectations, and almost no revision plan treats them as content to be learned.

The fix is mechanical and fast. For each command term, the student learns the shape of the expected answer: how many distinct points, whether a judgement is required, whether a reason must be attached to each statement. Once that shape is internalised, the student stops producing essays for two-mark questions and stops producing one-liners for eight-mark ones. In Ras Al Khaimah mock scripts this single change is often worth more than any topic revision.

The table below sets out the terms that appear most often and the failure that goes with each. Use it with a marked script beside you. The pattern is usually visible immediately: a student loses marks on the same two or three command terms across every paper, in every subject, because the habit travels.

A worked example makes the size of the problem clear. Take an eight-mark question beginning evaluate. The mark scheme awards credit for points on each side and reserves the top band for a weighted judgement. A student who writes a beautiful page describing both sides and stops reaches the middle band and no higher, however good the content. The missing element is a final sentence that says which consideration outweighs the others and why. One sentence, two marks, repeated across four long questions in a paper. That is a grade boundary's worth of marks lost to a formatting habit rather than to knowledge.

The practice that fixes it is deliberately dull. Short timed bursts: eight questions, mixed command terms, answered to the expected shape rather than to the student's instinct, marked against the published scheme. Three sessions of that changes the habit, and the habit then applies to every subject the student sits, which makes it the highest-leverage work available in a short block.

Internal Assessment criteria, by letter and by mark

Diploma parents in Ras Al Khaimah are frequently told that the Internal Assessment is important without being told how it is marked. It is marked against named criteria, each with its own mark allocation, and the student can read the criteria before starting. That one fact changes the whole exercise from a piece of writing into a specification to be met.

Mathematics is the clearest example. The exploration is marked across five criteria lettered A to E: presentation, mathematical communication, personal engagement, reflection, and use of mathematics, totalling twenty marks. The largest single allocation sits on use of mathematics, which is also the criterion students most often weaken by choosing a topic that cannot sustain Higher Level content. In the sciences the scientific investigation is assessed across research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation at six marks each, twenty-four in total.

What a tutor does with this is specific and bounded. The tutor explains each criterion, shows what a strong response to it looks like in a published exemplar, reads the student's own draft and names which criterion is under-served. The tutor does not produce the work. Nobody here writes or finishes an Internal Assessment, an Extended Essay or a Theory of Knowledge essay for a student, because submitting work that is not the student's own is malpractice and the consequence lands on the student.

Parents can use the criteria directly, without any subject knowledge. Ask your child to read criterion C aloud and then point to the part of their draft that earns it. If they cannot, the problem is not the mathematics and it is not the writing; it is that the draft was built without reference to the thing marking it. That conversation takes four minutes, requires no expertise, and catches the commonest failure on the component. It works just as well on the sciences criteria and on the Extended Essay, where the published criteria are equally explicit about what each band requires.

One timing note for Ras Al Khaimah families. The deadlines that bite are the school's internal ones, not the board's, and they sit earlier than families expect because the school needs time to mark and moderate. Ask the Diploma coordinator for the internal draft and final dates at the start of Year 12 and write them on the same calendar as the exams, because an assessed component submitted late or unfinished caps a grade in a way no amount of revision later can undo.

Word and page limits across assessed components

Limits are published, enforced, and routinely discovered late. A Diploma student in Al Qusaidat who has written six thousand words of Extended Essay has not written a strong essay; they have written one that has to lose two thousand words in the week before submission, which is a worse edit than the writing it replaces.

The pattern is consistent across components: the limit is part of the task, and the skill being assessed includes selection. An Extended Essay sits at four thousand words. A Theory of Knowledge essay sits at one thousand six hundred. A Mathematics exploration is expected to run around twelve to twenty pages. Knowing these numbers at the start changes how a student plans, which is why the table belongs near the beginning of a Diploma year rather than near the end.

A tutor's role here is planning rather than cutting. The useful session happens before the first draft, when the student maps the argument against the available words and discovers that the research question is too broad to answer in the space. That is a thirty-minute conversation that saves a fortnight, and it is the single highest-value thing tuition does on an assessed component.

A rough allocation helps. For a four-thousand-word Extended Essay, a workable split is roughly four hundred words of introduction and research question, two thousand eight hundred across three or four analytical sections, five hundred of conclusion, and the remainder absorbed by transitions. Write those numbers at the top of the document before the first sentence and the essay stays in shape. Students who do not set an allocation discover in the final fortnight that one section has eaten half the budget, and the edit that follows removes the analysis rather than the padding, because the padding is harder to see in your own writing.

The same discipline applies to the shorter components. An eight-hundred-word Economics commentary holds one diagram and one judgement, not three of each. A one-thousand-six-hundred-word Theory of Knowledge essay holds two knowledge arguments properly developed rather than five sketched. Deciding how many ideas fit is the first act of the task, and it is where tuition earns its fee on these components.

What the market charges, from the cheapest option upwards

Start at the bottom of the market rather than the top, because that is where most searches begin. Budget online tutoring and university-student tutors advertise from roughly AED 45-150 per hour in the UAE, with one content platform publishing from AED 45-65 and another from AED 33-52. At that price you are buying homework supervision and general reassurance, which has a real use and is not the same as syllabus specialism.

The next band up is where syllabus knowledge starts. A qualified subject tutor working online sits at roughly AED 150-300 per hour, with one UAE agency publishing International GCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. Above that, IB, IGCSE and A Level specialists run AED 200-450 and beyond, with a UK-based agency quoting AED 270 and a UAE rate survey showing AED 200-450 or more. Premium named and examiner-track tutors reach AED 500-650, with one provider publishing AED 650. In-home one-to-one, including travel, sits at roughly AED 180-500.

Every one of those figures belongs to the provider or survey that published it, not to IB Gram, and none of them is a quote. What we publish is the model: one-to-one, delivered online, with a free trial lesson before any payment. If a page in this market shows you a rate with no source and no date attached, treat it the way you would treat an unsourced number anywhere else.

The question a Ras Al Khaimah family should actually ask is not what the hourly rate is but what the total block costs and what it is supposed to achieve. Ten sessions at a specialist rate with a named component target is a smaller and better-spent sum than thirty sessions at a budget rate with no endpoint, and the second arrangement is the one that quietly runs for two years. Ask for the number of sessions, the target, and the measure that will say whether it worked, then compare the totals rather than the hourly figures.

The honesty line, and why it is on the page rather than in the terms

  • A tutor teaches, questions and gives feedback on the student's own work
  • Published exemplars and criteria are the teaching material, not a model answer written for the student
  • No syllabus documents, past papers or mark schemes are reproduced or supplied here; they are cited and linked
  • The malpractice consequence falls on the candidate, which is why the line is drawn in public

There is a tutoring service in this market selling finished Internal Assessments at a published price. It ranks. Parents find it. So the boundary needs to be stated plainly rather than assumed: a tutor explains the criteria, teaches the skills, reads the student's draft and says which criterion is weak. The student produces the work. Nobody here produces assessed work on a student's behalf.

This is not squeamishness. Submitting work that is not the student's own is malpractice under IB rules, and the consequence falls on the candidate, not on whoever was paid. A Diploma student found to have submitted purchased work risks the whole Diploma, two years after the decision was made. No fee refund exists that compensates for that, and no tutor absorbs the penalty.

The practical boundary in a session looks like this. Acceptable: explaining what criterion E rewards, working through a published exemplar, questioning whether the chosen topic can sustain Higher Level mathematics, pointing at a paragraph and saying this summarises where the criterion wants reflection. Not acceptable: supplying sentences, restructuring the student's argument into the tutor's own, or editing a draft to a finished state. The difference is visible in a session recording, which is one quiet advantage of lessons delivered over video.

There is a related rule about materials that parents rarely hear stated. Syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables and subject guides belong to the IB, Cambridge and Pearson. We reference them and link to the official source rather than reproducing or supplying them, because redistributing them is a copyright matter and, for unreleased material, a malpractice exposure as well. If a tutoring service offers you a bundle of mark schemes as a selling point, it is offering something it does not own.

The same caution applies to anybody described as an examiner. Current examiner status is a specific thing that can be evidenced or cannot, and it confers no access to marking decisions, grade boundaries or unseen paper content. A tutor who has taught a syllabus for years is worth hiring on that basis. A tutor whose selling point is privileged access to the board is making a claim worth a direct question.

Checking that a tutor may legally teach in the UAE

  • Ask directly whether the tutor holds the MoHRE private tuition work permit
  • The permit is free, valid two years, and applied for through MoHRE's own channels
  • No fine schedule is published, so treat any quoted amount as fiction
  • No regulator or examination board accredits IB Gram, and this page claims none

Parents in Al Qusaidat can check this in one question, and most never ask it. Private tuition in the UAE runs on a permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, granted free of charge for two years. The eligible groups are broad: teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students.

So the question to a prospective tutor is simply whether they hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit. The application route is the ministry's own service for private tutor licensing, through the MoHRE smart app, website and e-services system, with no fee listed and a two-working-day completion time. Anyone describing the permit as expensive, slow or optional has not looked at the published service.

Two cautions worth carrying. Individuals tutoring without the permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and the ministry has not published amounts, so any specific figure you are quoted is invented. And a permit is not an endorsement by anybody: IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from the Ministry of Education, the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. A service using a regulator's name as an adjective is making a claim it almost certainly cannot evidence.

The permit also carries a code of conduct, and one clause of it matters to Al Qusaidat families directly: it bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school. In Abu Dhabi, ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff set out the same prohibition on paid private tutoring of students enrolled at the tutor's school. So the arrangement that feels most convenient, paying your child's own subject teacher for evening lessons, is the one to avoid, and it is also a poor idea on its merits: the person marking the internal assessments should not be paid to prepare the student for them.

An operation with premises and staff is a different legal animal from an individual tutor. A tuition centre in Dubai needs a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. That is a specific instrument held by specific businesses, and no online matching platform should be describing itself in its language.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Qusaidat

Where a family lives in Ras Al Khaimah changes which school a child attends and therefore which syllabus they sit. These notes are about that, not about the property market.

Al Qusaidat

Inland residential area next to Julphar, with secondary students travelling out to Al Nakheel, Al Hamra or Mina Al Arab. Most families here deal with two boards across siblings, because the schools they can reach do not all run the same one.

Julphar

Shares school buses and mock timetables with Al Qusaidat. A tutor working with one child here often ends up working with a sibling on a different board, which is why syllabus matching matters more than a single tutor covering everything.

Al Nakheel

Where a large share of the emirate's private secondary capacity sits. Students schooled here and living in Al Qusaidat are the group most likely to be sitting Cambridge rather than Pearson codes.

Al Hamra Village

Coastal community thirty minutes south holding part of the international-school provision, including the emirate's main route into IB programmes. The IGCSE to Diploma bridge question comes mostly from families attached to this cluster.

Mina Al Arab

Newer coastal development with a growing school-age population and limited local secondary provision, so mid-stage transfers between boards are common and the subject-matching problem arrives with them.

Al Dhait

Large southern residential district. Students here tend to be spread across more schools than any other area in the emirate, which produces the widest mix of syllabus codes in a single neighbourhood.

Khuzam

Central district near the government school cluster, with private-school families travelling out. Diploma students from Khuzam almost always sit Standard Level mathematics, which changes what the route-choice conversation looks like.

Al Marjan Island

Mostly resort and residential towers with a small resident school-age group, all of whom travel to the mainland daily. An online evening session is the only format that fits a weekday here.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Qusaidat

Ras Al Khaimah private schools serving Al Qusaidat

Students from Al Qusaidat are spread across these schools rather than concentrated in one. In a cohort this size, a subject can have a single teacher and a single teaching set, which is precisely the situation where a second specialist voice helps most.

Where families compare when a Diploma subject is unavailable

A Ras Al Khaimah student wanting a Higher Level subject the local school does not run compares these Dubai and Sharjah options. They are named as market context only; no relationship exists or is implied.

Named schools are context for the Ras Al Khaimah and wider UAE education market; no affiliation, partnership or endorsement is held or implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the code and the level

Mathematics is four different Diploma courses and at least two different IGCSEs. Send the syllabus code, the level or tier, the board, and the component that is weak. The exams officer or Diploma coordinator has all of it, and getting it right removes the commonest cause of a poor first match.

  2. 02

Send the marked script or the current draft

A marked mock paper or a current Internal Assessment draft tells a tutor more in five minutes than a conversation does in thirty. Component marks show whether the problem is content, timing or command-term discipline, and those three need entirely different plans.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson on your own material

A real lesson, not a consultation. The tutor works on a question your child got wrong, which is the only part of a first session with predictive value. No payment and no card details are needed to book it, and you are welcome to watch.

  4. 04

A written plan against the criteria or the paper

You get the target in writing: which criterion, which paper, which topics, in which order, over how many sessions. For an assessed component the plan includes the school's own internal deadline, because that date controls everything else.

  5. 05

Session notes you can actually use

After each lesson, a short note of what was covered, what was set, and what the tutor is watching. Six notes in a row with no movement is a signal to change the match, and having them in writing is what makes that judgement possible.

  6. 06

    An honest answer on availability

For a thinly taught Higher Level subject there may be no specialist free this month. You will be told that and offered a date, rather than placed with somebody adjacent to the subject. A clear no is more useful in an exam year than a quiet compromise.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matched on the component, not the subject

A weak Paper 3 and a weak Internal Assessment in the same subject are different problems needing different people. Matching at component level is slower to arrange and markedly more effective than matching on a subject name, particularly in a small emirate.

Criteria and mark allocations in public

This page prints the Mathematics exploration criteria by letter with their marks, and the published word limits across components. No competitor page in this market names a single criterion letter. A parent who knows the numbers can judge the tuition.

Both boards, properly distinguished

Cambridge 0580 and Pearson 4MA1 are not interchangeable, and a tutor who conflates them wastes sessions teaching the wrong question style. Ras Al Khaimah families often have children on both boards, so the distinction is routine here rather than academic.

Rates printed with their publisher

Every AED figure here names the survey or provider that published it and is presented as the market rather than as our price. Three of six ranking pages in this market publish no price at all, and two quote US dollars, which UAE families do not transact in.

A stated boundary on assessed work

Teaching, feedback and questioning on the student's own work. No writing, finishing or editing to completion of an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge essay. The malpractice risk sits with the candidate, which is exactly why the boundary is published.

One delivery format, disclosed first

Lessons are one-to-one and live over video on Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram does not send tutors to UAE addresses, and home visits are a service we run in India only. You know that before booking rather than after paying.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Qusaidat: your questions answered

We searched for a tutor near us in Al Qusaidat. Does distance matter at all?+

For logistics it used to; for teaching quality it does not. Lessons here are delivered one-to-one over live video, so the tutor's location is irrelevant to whether the session happens. What matters is whether they have taught the specific syllabus code and component your child is weak on. In an emirate with a small private-school set, filtering by distance narrows the pool to whoever is free rather than whoever knows the paper, which is the opposite of what a parent paying for specialism wants.

Which IB Mathematics course should my child take after IGCSE Extended?+

Read the IGCSE script rather than asking the student's preference. A child who wrote full algebraic working and enjoyed harder manipulation belongs in Analysis and Approaches. A child who reached correct answers on the calculator and dropped method marks belongs in Applications and Interpretation and will do better there. Then check the intended university course, because engineering, physics, mathematics and quantitative economics routes generally expect Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level while life sciences, business and psychology routes commonly accept Applications and Interpretation.

How is the IB Mathematics exploration actually marked?+

Against five criteria lettered A to E, totalling twenty marks: presentation worth four, mathematical communication worth four, personal engagement worth three, reflection worth three, and use of mathematics worth six. The largest allocation is on use of mathematics, which is also where most drafts fail, usually because the chosen topic cannot sustain content at the course level. A student who reads the criteria before choosing a topic avoids the single most expensive mistake available on the component.

Is the Extended Essay really capped at four thousand words?+

Yes, and the limit is part of the task rather than an administrative detail. Selection is one of the things being assessed, so an essay that needs two thousand words cut in the final week has already lost the argument it was supposed to sustain. The useful intervention happens before the first draft, mapping the argument against the available words until the research question is narrow enough to answer properly. A Theory of Knowledge essay sits at one thousand six hundred words on the same principle.

Where exactly does a tutor stop on an Internal Assessment draft?+

Yes, within a clear boundary. A tutor explains each criterion, works through published exemplars, questions whether the topic can carry the required depth, and reads the student's own draft to say which criterion is under-served. The tutor does not supply sentences, restructure the argument into their own, or edit a draft to a finished state. Submitting work that is not the student's own is malpractice under board rules and the penalty falls on the candidate, not on whoever was paid.

Why do my children sit different exam boards at schools in the same emirate?+

Because Ras Al Khaimah's private schools choose their own board, and the emirate's Department of Knowledge approves curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods school by school rather than imposing one. So a family in Al Qusaidat can easily have one child on Cambridge codes such as 0580 and 0625 and another on Pearson codes such as 4MA1 and 4PH1. The content overlaps; the paper structures and question styles do not, which is why a tutor should be matched per child rather than per household.

What are command terms, and why would they change a grade?+

They are the instruction words that open a question, and both the IB and Cambridge publish what each one requires. Outline wants brief main points; explain wants a reason attached to each statement; evaluate wants strengths and limitations weighed against each other and a judgement. Students who write everything they know lose marks on short questions and run out of time for long ones. Learning the expected answer shape for eight or nine terms is a few hours of work and often moves more marks than topic revision does.

My child is strong in class but weak in the mock. What is going wrong?+

Almost always one of three things: timing, method-mark discipline, or command-term handling. All three are invisible in classwork and all three show up immediately on a marked script, which is why we ask for the script rather than the report. A student who knows the content and loses a third of the marks is not short of teaching; they are short of timed practice marked against the published scheme. That is an eight-session problem, not a term-long one.

Does the scientific investigation in IB sciences have criteria too?+

Yes. The investigation is assessed across research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation, each worth six marks for twenty-four in total. The commonest failure is a design with no genuine independent variable range, which caps the data analysis and conclusion marks before any writing happens. That is why the highest-value session on the whole component is the one held before data collection starts, not the one held when a draft already exists.

How long before a Diploma subject gets beyond fixing?+

Nothing is beyond fixing, but the cost rises sharply once an assessed component is submitted. Content gaps found in Year 12 take weeks. The same gaps found in the final term compete with revision for every other subject. An Internal Assessment already handed in cannot be revised at all. So the honest ordering is: assessed components first, because they have hard deadlines, then content, then paper technique, which responds fastest and can be moved late.

My children are on Cambridge and Pearson codes. Can one approach cover both?+

Yes, and we treat them as separate courses rather than variants. Cambridge 0620 Chemistry and Pearson 4CH1 cover similar chemistry through different paper structures, mark-scheme phrasing and question styles, and the grading scales differ. A tutor matched to the wrong one will teach correct chemistry in the wrong examination idiom, which is a quiet way to waste a term. Send the code from the school's entry confirmation rather than the subject name from the timetable.

Is a fortnightly session enough for a Higher Level subject?+

For maintenance across Years 12 and 13, often yes. A fortnightly slot exists to stop a subject drifting between report cards, which is where most Diploma damage accumulates quietly. It is not enough to close an existing gap, and it is not enough in the final term, when the pattern should step up to weekly. Families who run fortnightly from early Year 12 generally need fewer total sessions than families who start weekly in the final six months.

What happens in the first session for an IGCSE student?+

The tutor works from the marked script or sets a short timed section, because a conversation about which topics feel hard is the least reliable diagnostic available. From the script the tutor identifies whether the losses are content, method-mark discipline or command-term handling, then names the order of work. You get that in writing after the session. The free trial lesson comes before this and runs on your child's own material, with you welcome to watch.

Do we need tutoring for UAE university equivalency?+

No. Equivalency is a Ministry of Education process and tutoring is not part of it. The published British track asks for five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from those five, plus one accredited Advanced Level subject at grade E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level. Verify current requirements with the Ministry or the emirate attestation authority. IB Gram neither performs equivalency nor guarantees any outcome from it.

Should we use the same person for two Diploma subjects to save money?+

Sometimes, and it is usually a worse arrangement than it looks. Mathematics and Physics is a plausible pairing; Chemistry and Economics is not. Even where one person can cover both, a single session split across two subjects becomes half an hour of each and a full hour of neither. Two subjects need two slots, and often two tutors, because component-level specialism is the thing being bought and it rarely spans a pair of unrelated syllabuses.

How do we know six sessions have achieved anything?+

By comparing a marked script against a marked script. A diagnostic paper at the start and a comparable paper at session six, both marked to the published scheme, give you component-level movement rather than an impression. The written note after each session tells you what was set and whether it was done. If the second script has not moved and the notes show the work was completed, the match is wrong and should change rather than continue.

Send the code, the level and the script

The useful version of a tutor near me is a tutor who has taught the exact paper your child is losing marks on. Send the syllabus code, the level or tier, the board, and the marked mock or current draft, and you will get a plan written against the criteria or the paper rather than a weekly slot with no endpoint. The trial lesson is free, runs on your child's own material, and you can watch it.
