IB Home Tutor in Al Marjan Island

The real question behind every search for an IB home tutor in Al Marjan Island is narrower than the words suggest: is there anybody within reach who actually knows my child's syllabus at my child's level? This page answers that instead of avoiding it. It sets out where coverage is genuinely good, where it is thin, what happens when no specialist is free, and how to test a claim of expertise in ten minutes. Lessons here are one-to-one over live video.

  • Coverage and fallbacks published by subject and level, not implied
  • Al Marjan Island sits under the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and verifiable; ask about it
  • We say no rather than substituting a generalist for a specialist

IB & IGCSE in Al Marjan Island

The honest answer to the question you are actually asking

Al Marjan Island is a set of reclaimed islands reaching into the Gulf off the Ras Al Khaimah coast, heavily weighted towards apartments, serviced residences and resort development. There is no school on the island itself, so the school run goes inland or down the coast, and visitor access is more involved than anywhere else in the emirate. All of which matters for logistics and none of which answers the question a parent is actually typing.

That question is specific: is there anybody reachable who has taught Higher Level Chemistry, or Mathematics Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level, or Economics at Standard Level, to an examination class? Not somebody who studied it. Somebody who has taught it, knows what the criteria reward and can name them. Every page competing for this search implies the answer is yes for every subject. None of them publishes a coverage limit. Across the competitor pages researched for the UAE clusters, not one discloses a subject or level it cannot cover, and several route enquiries to telephone numbers outside the UAE without saying so.

The truthful answer has three parts. For most Standard Level subjects and for the common Higher Level ones, coverage online is good and a match usually takes days rather than weeks. For a small number of combinations - a narrow Higher Level option close to a session, or an unusual language - coverage is thin and the honest response is a conditional yes or a no. And locally, inside Ras Al Khaimah, for Higher Level sciences and mathematics, the pool is genuinely small, because the emirate has a comparatively modest private-school sector and the few experienced teachers in it are usually committed in the evenings.

This page therefore does something uncommon: it publishes the coverage picture, the fallback options when a specialist is not available, and a method for testing whether anyone's claimed expertise is real. That last part is useful whoever you end up hiring, including if it is not us. Ten minutes of the right questions separates a Diploma specialist from a capable graduate who has read the syllabus, and the questions are not difficult. It is also the part of this page we would keep if we could keep only one.

On delivery, because the URL says home tutor: IB Gram teaches Al Marjan Island students one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. We do not place a tutor at a UAE address, and in-person visiting is a service we run only in India. On an island with involved access and no school of its own, that removes the logistics problem entirely. It also means the coverage question is answered from a national pool rather than from whoever is willing to cross the causeway at five o'clock.

At a glance

  • Coverage is good for most Standard Level and common Higher Level subjects
  • It is thin for narrow Higher Level options and some languages; we say which
  • Locally in Ras Al Khaimah, Higher Level science and maths supply is small
  • Ask any tutor to name the assessment criteria for your child's subject
  • The private tuition permit is free, so there is no excuse for not holding one
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Coverage differs by programme as well as by subject, and it is worth knowing which part of the IB you are actually asking about before you ask anyone whether they can help.

PYPAges 3-12 · Pre-school to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

Inquiry-led, no external examinations, reported against learning outcomes with an Exhibition in the final year. Coverage here is not a specialist question at all: what a primary student needs is reading fluency, number fact recall and the ability to work independently for twenty minutes, and a good general primary teacher provides it. Anyone claiming a scarce specialism at this stage is overselling.

Families on Al Marjan Island with primary-age children face the longest school run in the emirate, which argues for keeping any additional support at home and short. Two twenty-minute sessions a week work better at this age than one long one.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Criterion-assessed against descriptors A to D with a Personal Project in the final year. Coverage is comfortable across the main subject groups because the content depth is moderate and the skills are transferable. Where it genuinely narrows is the Personal Project, which benefits from somebody who has supervised one rather than from a subject teacher.

Where a Ras Al Khaimah family moves between a Middle Years school and an IGCSE school, the two sequence topics differently and real content gaps appear in maths and science. A single diagnostic session finds them; a summer usually closes them.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, usually three at Higher Level, scored out of 45, with written papers plus an internally assessed component in each subject marked against lettered criteria. This is where coverage becomes a real question, because the combination of subject, level and live component narrows the pool quickly. A Higher Level science with an investigation at planning stage needs a different person from a Standard Level revision request.

UAE schools sit the May session, with November available where offered. This page carries no specific IB examination or results date, because the IB's own site cannot be checked automatically; the coordinator's internal deadline sheet is the operative calendar.

CPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Career-related Programme

Diploma courses alongside a career-related study, a reflective project and a personal and professional skills course. Coverage for the Diploma courses taken within it is the same as for the Diploma itself. The reflective project is the thinnest area in the whole IB for tutoring supply, simply because far fewer people have supervised one.

Where a school in the northern emirates offers this programme, confirm which components are internally and which externally assessed before planning support, because the balance differs from the Diploma and changes what is worth buying.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Here is the coverage picture subject by subject, stated as plainly as we can. Where it is thin, that is the honest position rather than a negotiating one.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Standard Level coverage is good and matches are quick. Higher Level is narrower, because the course is demanding and fewer tutors have taught it to completion. Ask a candidate what the Exploration criteria reward and whether they have supervised one; the answer separates teachers from graduates immediately.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Reasonable coverage at both levels, though fewer tutors have taught the Higher Level statistics content in depth than claim to. The useful test is asking how they would handle a modelling question where the technology does the computation and the marks sit in the interpretation.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Standard Level coverage is good. Higher Level is one of the two thinnest areas in the whole Diploma for tutoring supply, and locally in Ras Al Khaimah it is close to absent. Investigation coaching at Higher Level narrows it further, because it requires someone who knows the criteria rather than the chemistry.

Physics

HL and SL

The other thin area at Higher Level. Uncertainty propagation and error analysis are the skills that matter and the ones most often absent in a candidate who has studied physics rather than taught it. Ask how they would teach propagating an uncertainty through a multiplication; a specialist answers in a sentence.

Biology

HL and SL

Good coverage at both levels, and the easiest of the three sciences to match quickly. The quality variable is investigation coaching: narrowing a research question until the variation is controllable is a skill distinct from knowing biology, and it is the one worth testing for.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Solid coverage, with one caveat: set texts vary by school and cohort, so a tutor's familiarity with the course does not mean familiarity with your child's texts. That is usually fine, because the assessed skill is analysis rather than content, but establish it rather than assuming.

Economics

HL and SL

Good coverage at both levels and quick to match. The differentiator is the internally assessed commentary work spread across the course, which needs a tutor who schedules rather than crams. Ask how they would sequence the commentaries against the school's other deadlines.

Business Management

HL and SL

Reasonable coverage. The Higher Level research-based component with its own word limit and criteria is the narrower part, and the test is whether a candidate can describe what distinguishes a mid-band response from an upper-band one in that component specifically.

Languages other than English

Language B and ab initio

The thinnest category overall, and genuinely so. Coverage for the most commonly taught languages is workable; for less common ones it is limited and the honest answer is often a conditional yes dependent on timing, or a no. We would rather say that than place a native speaker with no assessment knowledge.

Theory of Knowledge and the Extended Essay

Core components

Coverage depends on the Extended Essay's subject area rather than on the essay as a task. Theory of Knowledge support is reasonably available and uneven in quality, because arguing about knowledge is easy and teaching a student to answer a prescribed title is not.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, and which one is available to you depends partly on coverage rather than only on preference. That is worth saying out loud.

Named specialist, weekly

The same subject specialist each week at a fixed slot. This is what everyone wants and it is available for most subject and level combinations. Where it is not available, the honest options are a different time slot that opens a wider pool or one of the two formats below rather than a substitution nobody mentions.

  • Same tutor every week, named before you commit
  • Slot fixed, with reschedules by agreement rather than by surprise
  • Replaced only with your knowledge and consent

Diagnostic block with a specialist, then weekly with a generalist

Where a narrow specialist cannot carry a whole term, a short block with them sets the plan and names the targets, and a strong generalist delivers the weekly work against it. Not as good as the first option and considerably better than a mismatch. We would describe it to you in these terms rather than as though it were one person throughout.

  • Specialist writes the plan and the targets
  • Generalist delivers against it, with review points
  • The specialist returns for component checkpoints

Short targeted blocks only

Where availability is genuinely thin, a few sessions at the points of highest leverage: narrowing an investigation question, uncertainty handling, command terms before a mock. Less than a family wants and honest about what it is. Often it is also all that was actually needed.

  • Two to four sessions on one named problem
  • A written target and a defined finish
  • No rolling commitment implied or created

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Marjan Island

01

Coverage and fallback, published rather than implied

This table is the reason the page exists. It states, by subject group and level, how coverage actually looks, roughly how long a match takes, and what happens when nobody suitable is free. No competitor page researched across the ten UAE query clusters discloses a coverage limit of any kind, which means a parent cannot tell the difference between a provider with deep coverage and one that says yes to everything and works it out afterwards.

Read it with one thing in mind: the limiting factor is almost never the subject alone. It is the combination of subject, level, live component and time slot. Higher Level Chemistry with an investigation at planning stage, needed at 7pm on a Tuesday, is a much narrower request than Standard Level Chemistry revision at any time. Families who can flex the slot usually widen the pool more than families who can flex the subject, which is not obvious until somebody says it.

The fallback column is the part worth reading twice, because it describes what honest providers do and most do not describe at all. A diagnostic block with a specialist followed by weekly work with a strong generalist is a real option that works, provided the family knows that is what they have bought. The same arrangement sold as a specialist throughout is a misrepresentation, and it is common.

Where the honest answer is no, we say no. That costs us a booking and saves a family a term. The alternative - placing a capable graduate who has read the syllabus with a Higher Level candidate eight weeks from a session - produces a mismatch that becomes obvious in week three, by which point the weeks are gone and so is the money.

How to test a claim of expertise in ten minutes

Whoever you hire, including if it is not us, this is the most useful ten minutes you will spend. The aim is to distinguish somebody who has taught a Diploma subject to an examination class from somebody who studied it well and has read the guide. Both will sound competent in a general conversation about the subject. Only one of them will answer these questions crisply.

The questions work because they ask about assessment rather than about content. A graduate who got a 7 in Higher Level Chemistry knows chemistry. They may have no idea what the investigation criteria reward, what distinguishes a mid-band evaluation from an upper-band one, or why an uncontrolled variable caps later criteria regardless of the write-up. A teacher knows those things because they have marked them, repeatedly, and watched moderation adjust them.

Ask them with the expectation of a short answer. A specialist names criteria, describes a common failure, and gives an example from experience. A non-specialist generalises, talks about engagement and confidence, or asks you what the school has said. Neither answer is dishonest; they describe different people, and only one of them is what a Higher Level candidate needs eight weeks out.

One further test, the cheapest of all: send a piece of your child's marked work before you book anything, and ask what it shows. A specialist comes back with two or three specific things and what they imply. A generalist comes back with encouragement. The free trial lesson is the same test at greater length, and the thing to watch in it is whether the tutor diagnoses before explaining and whether your child does most of the talking.

03

The red flags in this particular market

The tutoring market serving UAE families contains a number of practices that are worth recognising, because several of them appear on pages currently ranking for exactly this search. None of what follows is speculation; each item was observed on a live competitor page during research in October 2026, and each is either a regulatory exposure, a consumer-protection problem, or a straightforward misrepresentation.

The most serious is the sale of completed assessed work. One site in this market advertises finished Internal Assessments at a published price. That is an academic-honesty breach, and its consequences fall on the student rather than on the seller: submitted work must be the student's own, and a malpractice finding can end a Diploma. Any provider willing to sell that is telling you what they think of the student's interests.

The second is claimed regulator approval. Phrases implying that a tutoring service is approved, accredited or licensed by an education authority are the most dangerous available on these pages, because the specific permits involved are issued to institutions with premises and are verifiable. A tutoring platform that does not hold one and implies it does is making a claim a parent can check and should.

The others are quieter. Self-asserted star ratings in page markup that do not match anything countable. Prices quoted in US dollars to families who transact in dirhams, or no price at all - three of the six main pages in this cluster publish no figure, and one refuses to answer its own pricing question in its own FAQ. Telephone numbers outside the UAE presented as the local contact route. And statistics with no sample size, date or method attached: percentages of students, median scores, satisfaction figures. The table below lists what to look for and what it indicates.

WHAT TO LOOK FOR BEFORE PAYING ANYONE

Who is legally permitted to tutor your child, and how to check

  • Permit issued by MoHRE under Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023
  • Free of charge, valid two years, stated completion time two working days
  • Eligible: school teachers, employees, unemployed residents, university students, students aged 15-18
  • No published fine schedule; disregard quoted amounts
  • A centre with premises needs a separate educational services permit

Private tutoring in the UAE is permitted and regulated, which is a better situation than the vagueness most pages leave parents with. The route is a private tuition work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years. The eligible categories are deliberately wide: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students.

The ministry lists the service as Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, with no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through its smart app, website and e-services system. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are, in the ministry's own words, subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published, so any figure circulating online should be treated as unverified, and we will not repeat one here.

Two practical points follow. Because the permit is free and takes two working days, there is no cost or administrative excuse for not holding one, which makes it a fair and easy question to ask. And a tutoring operation with premises and staff is a different legal animal from an individual tutor: it requires an educational services permit from the relevant authority, with initial approval first and annual renewal. Nobody should describe themselves as regulator-approved on the strength of an individual tuition permit.

Our own position, stated plainly: IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge or Pearson, and occupies no office in the UAE. There is also a conduct dimension worth knowing: in Abu Dhabi the education department's professional-ethics rules bar school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the permit carries its own code of conduct. Whatever the local rule, your child's own classroom teacher is the wrong person to hire privately.

05

Why the local pool is thin, in terms we can actually support

It is worth being precise about this rather than gesturing at it, because the reason matters for what a family should do. Ras Al Khaimah is a northern emirate with its own education regulator and a private-school sector concentrated around Al Nakheel, Al Hamra and Mina Al Arab. A Diploma subject taught at Higher Level in a small number of settings produces a small number of teachers with experience of it, and a fraction of those take private work after a full teaching day.

Compare that with Dubai, where the private school sector held 387,441 students across 227 private schools offering 17 different curricula in 2024-25, with the International Baccalaureate accounting for a share of enrolment and seven further private schools, including three International Baccalaureate schools, opening for the 2026-27 intake. The arithmetic of supply is simply different: a subject taught in many settings produces many experienced teachers, and some of them are free on a Tuesday evening.

This is not a judgement about Ras Al Khaimah's schools, several of which are long-established and well regarded. It is a statement about numbers, and it has one practical consequence: in this emirate, remote one-to-one is not a convenience or a cost saving. For Higher Level sciences and mathematics it is the difference between a specialist and whoever is available.

It also explains why coverage transparency matters more here than it would in Dubai. A family in a large market who hires a mismatch can replace them easily. A family on Al Marjan Island who hires the only locally available person has no second option, which is precisely why they deserve to know in advance whether that person has taught the course or studied it.

06

What we do when we cannot match you

Saying no is the part of this business nobody writes about, so here is how it works. If a request is for a subject, level, component and time slot we cannot cover with someone who has genuinely taught it, we tell you at the enquiry stage rather than after a trial lesson. The message names what is thin and why, which is usually the combination rather than the subject on its own.

Then we offer the real alternatives, described accurately. A different session slot often opens a materially wider pool, and families who can move an hour frequently solve the problem by moving an hour. Where that does not work, a diagnostic block with a specialist followed by weekly delivery by a strong generalist against the specialist's written plan is a genuine option, and we describe it in exactly those terms rather than as a specialist arrangement. Where neither works, the answer is to wait or to look elsewhere, and we say which.

We also tell you when you do not need what you are asking for. A family requesting a term of weekly Higher Level support for a problem that is two sessions of command-term work does not need the term, and selling it to them would be easy. The diagnosis from a marked script usually settles this in ten minutes, which is why we ask for the script before quoting anything.

None of this is generosity; it is the only version of this business that survives contact with a small market. In an emirate where families talk to each other and the alternatives are few, a mismatch sold as a match costs more than the booking was worth. The free trial lesson exists for the same reason: it is a test you run on us, with no card details taken and no obligation afterwards.

07

What a good first month looks like from here

Assume a match exists and has been made. A first month that is working looks specific rather than pleasant. In week one the tutor has produced a written diagnosis from the student's own marked work, naming two or three things costing marks and what the following sessions will do about each. If week one ended with a general impression and a plan to cover the syllabus, something has already gone wrong.

By week two or three the student should be doing most of the talking and most of the writing, with the tutor questioning rather than explaining. The single most reliable predictor of a wasted term is a tutor who lectures competently for fifty minutes while a student nods. It feels like value and produces almost nothing, because the only thing that moves marks is the student attempting, failing and being corrected.

By the end of the month there should be a piece of evidence: a timed section, a narrowed research question, a redrafted paragraph that now does what the criteria ask. One concrete artefact beats four weeks of positive reports. And there should be a review conversation, short, against the target that was written down at the start, with a real decision about whether to continue.

If the answer is no, say it early. The only thing wasted by changing a tutor at week three is three weeks; the cost of changing at week twelve is a term. In a market this size we would rather be told at week three and keep the relationship than discover at week twelve that a family quietly stopped booking. That is also why we publish the coverage table above: the conversations that go badly are nearly always the ones that started with a yes that should have been a no.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Marjan Island

These are the neighbourhoods Al Marjan Island families share schools and roads with, and in every one of them the local specialist picture is the same picture.

Al Hamra Village

The nearest community with a school inside it, a short run down the coast. Families here have the easiest access in the emirate and report the same difficulty finding a Higher Level science specialist, which is the point.

Mina Al Arab

Coastal and partly gated, slightly closer to the city. Access is easier than on the islands and the available local pool is identical, because it is an emirate-wide pool rather than a neighbourhood one.

Al Nakheel

The central district holding most of the emirate's schools. The largest local supply of teachers and also the most fully committed, which is why proximity to supply does not translate into availability.

Khuzam

Inland and close to the city centre, with campuses nearby. Early study evenings here mean a family can take a session slot that a later-finishing household cannot, which genuinely does widen their choice of tutor.

Al Dhait

Established inland villa districts. Households often have a commuting parent, so the available session window is late, and late slots are the most contested ones in any tutoring pool.

Al Qusaidat and Julphar

Older districts near the creek with the heaviest afternoon traffic in Ras Al Khaimah. For in-person arrangements this is the least reliable part of the emirate; for online sessions it makes no difference at all.

Al Mamourah and Seih Al Uraibi

Low density, small school-age populations, no realistic local market for a single Diploma subject at a single level. The honest position here is that online one-to-one is not a preference but the only available option.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Ask us the narrow question, not the broad one

Higher Level Chemistry, investigation at planning stage, Tuesdays after 7pm is a question we can answer accurately. Need a science tutor is one we can only answer optimistically. The narrower the request, the more useful the answer, including when the answer is no.

  2. 02

Send a marked script before any booking

It is the cheapest test of a provider that exists. Ask what it shows. A specialist comes back with two or three specific observations and what they imply; a generalist comes back with encouragement. Run that test on us before you run it on anyone else.

  3. 03

Get a yes, a conditional yes or a no

We will tell you which of the three it is and why, naming the constraint if there is one. Where it is a conditional yes, the condition is stated: a different slot, a shorter block, or a specialist plus generalist arrangement described in those words.

  4. 04

Use the free trial lesson as your own test

One 45 to 60-minute one-to-one session over live video, no card details, no obligation. Watch whether the tutor diagnoses before explaining and whether your child talks. Those two signals predict the term better than any credential on a profile.

  5. 05

Review at the end of the first month, against evidence

One concrete artefact and a short conversation against the written target. If nothing moved, change the plan or the tutor now rather than in the spring. Three weeks is a cheap loss; a term is not, and in a small emirate it is also hard to recover from.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

A coverage table nobody else publishes

No competitor page researched across the ten UAE query clusters discloses a subject or level it cannot cover. We publish the picture, the match times and the fallbacks, because a family on Al Marjan Island deciding how to spend a term cannot plan around an implied yes.

A method for checking us, and anyone else

The four questions in this page work on any provider, including this one. Ask who can name the criteria, who identifies specific failure modes, who narrows a research question, and who has taught the level to a final-year class. The answers are quick and they are decisive.

No regulator claims, because we hold none

IB Gram is not approved, accredited or licensed by the Department of Knowledge, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson, and has no UAE office. We explain what each body does and point you to it. Claimed approval is the most dangerous phrase in this market.

A hard line on assessed work

Criteria explained, plans questioned, drafts responded to in writing. No writing, no rewriting, no supplied data, no completion. A site ranking on these searches sells finished Internal Assessments at a published price, and the consequences of using it fall on the student.

The logistics problem removed entirely

Al Marjan Island has involved visitor access, no school on the island and the longest school run in the emirate. Live video sessions remove access, parking and arrival-time from the arrangement, which is why a slot here holds through a term where an in-person booking slips.

We will tell you when you do not need us

A problem that is two sessions of command-term work is not a term of weekly tuition, and the diagnosis from a marked script usually shows which it is in ten minutes. We ask for the script before quoting anything, for exactly that reason.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Marjan Island: your questions answered

Is there actually anyone in Ras Al Khaimah who teaches Higher Level Chemistry privately?+

Locally, very few, and that is the honest answer. The emirate has a comparatively small private-school sector concentrated around Al Nakheel, Al Hamra and Mina Al Arab, so a Higher Level subject taught in a handful of settings produces a handful of experienced teachers, most of them committed in the evenings. Online the picture is better but still narrower than for Standard Level, particularly close to a session or where investigation coaching is needed. We publish that in the coverage table rather than discovering it with you after a trial lesson.

How do I tell whether a tutor has really taught my child's subject?+

Ask four questions and listen for specificity. Which criteria is the Internal Assessment marked against, and roughly what is each worth? Where do students in this subject lose the most marks? How would you narrow this research question? Have you taught this subject at this level to a final-year class, and when? A teacher answers each in a sentence or two with examples. Someone who studied the subject well will generalise, talk about confidence and engagement, or ask what the school has said.

What happens if you cannot find the right tutor for us?+

We say so at the enquiry stage and name the constraint, which is usually the combination of level, component and time slot rather than the subject alone. Then we offer the real alternatives: a different session slot, which often opens a materially wider pool, or a diagnostic block with a specialist followed by weekly delivery by a strong generalist against the specialist's written plan. If neither works, the answer is to wait or look elsewhere, and we will say which rather than placing a mismatch.

Which Diploma subjects are hardest to find a specialist for?+

Higher Level Chemistry and Higher Level Physics are the two thinnest in the sciences, with Higher Level Mathematics Analysis and Approaches close behind. Less commonly taught languages are the thinnest category overall, and for some of them the honest answer is no rather than a conditional yes. Biology, Economics, Business Management and English A are comfortable at both levels. The Career-related Programme's reflective project is thinner than any subject, simply because very few people have supervised one.

Does the tutor need a UAE permit to teach my child online?+

Individuals providing private tuition in the UAE need a private tuition work permit from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is free of charge, valid for two years, with a stated completion time of two working days, and it covers school teachers, government and private sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Because it costs nothing, there is no excuse for not holding one, which makes it a reasonable question to ask any provider.

Why should I trust a page that tells me what it cannot do?+

Because the alternative is a page that says yes to everything, and in a small emirate the cost of that falls on you. A family in a large market who hires a mismatch replaces them next week. A family on Al Marjan Island who hires the only available person has no second option, so the value of knowing in advance is much higher here. Publishing the limits also makes the positive claims checkable, which is the only way a claim about teaching experience means anything.

Can we change tutors if the first match does not work?+

Yes, and you should say so early rather than waiting politely. The only thing lost by changing at week three is three weeks; changing at week twelve costs a term. What we ask is a reason, because sometimes the problem is the plan rather than the person, and a new tutor following the same wrong plan changes nothing. Bring the marked evidence from the first month to that conversation and it usually becomes obvious within minutes which of the two it was.

What should the first session actually deliver?+

A written diagnosis from your child's own marked work, naming two or three specific things costing marks and what the next sessions will do about each. Not a syllabus overview, not a get-to-know-you hour, and not a lecture on the topic you named in your enquiry. If the tutor accepted your diagnosis instead of making their own, the rest of the block will be built on it, and the commonest reason a term produces nothing is that the wrong problem was being solved throughout.

Are online sessions workable from an apartment on Al Marjan Island?+

Yes, and the practical advantages here are larger than elsewhere in the emirate. There is no school on the island, visitor access is the most involved in Ras Al Khaimah, and the school run is the longest, so an arrangement that requires someone to arrive at a fixed hour degrades quickly. A live video session needs a usable connection, a quiet surface and a device the student can write on or alongside. Sessions also continue unchanged while a family travels, which households here do more than most.

Should we hire our child's own teacher privately if they offer?+

No. In Abu Dhabi the education department's professional-ethics rules bar private and charter school staff from paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school, and the MoHRE permit carries its own code of conduct. Whatever the rule in a given emirate, the arrangement puts a teacher in the position of being paid by one family while assessing their child alongside others, which is bad for everyone including the teacher. Hire somebody with no connection to the school and no role in the student's assessment.

How long does a match normally take?+

For Standard Level subjects and the common Higher Level ones, usually a few days. For Higher Level Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics Analysis and Approaches, often a week or more, and longer close to a session when the few available specialists are fully booked. Flexibility on the time slot shortens it more than anything else a family can offer. If a provider promises a specialist in any subject within twenty-four hours, ask what they mean by specialist, because the arithmetic of supply does not support it.

Why do some tutoring sites not publish any prices?+

It is a pattern in this market rather than an accident. Of the main pages researched for these searches, three publish no AED figure at all, one refuses to answer its own pricing question in its own FAQ, and two quote US dollars at families who transact in dirhams. Published market rates exist and are easy to cite: qualified online subject tutors run roughly AED 150-300 an hour, and in-home visits roughly AED 180-500 on tables read in October 2026. Ask any provider for an AED figure in writing before booking.

What should I make of a five-star rating on a tutoring site?+

Very little unless it is backed by countable, attributable reviews that match what the page's markup claims. Pages in this market publish ratings that contradict themselves within a single page, and self-asserted review markup is against Google's structured-data policy and a consumer-protection exposure as a commercial representation. Judge instead on things you can verify: whether the tutor can name the criteria, what they say about your child's marked script, and what the first month produced. Those are harder to fake than a number.

Can you help with the Extended Essay if the subject area is unusual?+

Sometimes, and the determining factor is the subject area rather than the essay as a task. Supervision support for an essay in a mainstream subject is comfortable to cover; a narrow area may not be, and the honest answer then is no rather than a generalist pretending otherwise. What is coverable in almost every case is the process: narrowing the research question, planning the reading, and responding to the student's own drafts against the criteria. The writing itself remains entirely the student's own work.

Ask the narrow question and get a straight answer

The question behind this search deserves a yes, a conditional yes or a no, not a brochure. So tell us the subject, the level, the live component and the time slot you need, and send one piece of your child's marked work. We will tell you which of the three it is, name the constraint if there is one, and describe any fallback in the terms it actually deserves. Then test us with a free trial lesson, no card details taken. Lessons for Al Marjan Island students are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, and they continue while you travel.
