IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Al Marjan Island

Typing IB IGCSE tutor near me from an Al Marjan Island address returns a very short list, and the reason is arithmetic rather than bad luck. Specialist Diploma and IGCSE teachers are concentrated in Dubai and Abu Dhabi; the northern emirates have a thin local pool, and an island reached by one causeway thins it again. This page prices what a radius search costs you in choice, sets out what each subject is worth paying for, and explains how IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video instead.

  • Coverage and fallback disclosed before you pay, not after
  • Market AED bands attributed to the provider that published them
  • Diploma and IGCSE handled by subject specialists, not generalists
  • Lessons one-to-one over live video at Gulf Standard Time slots

IB & IGCSE in Al Marjan Island

The radius problem, and what it actually costs a family here

A near-me search is a distance filter, and a distance filter is the wrong tool for this job. It sorts candidates by how far they live from your door, which is a fact about them and tells you nothing about whether they have taught Cambridge 0620 chemistry at Extended tier or marked a Higher Level mathematics exploration against criterion C. On an Al Marjan Island address the filter is unusually brutal: draw a ten-minute circle and it contains resort towers and apartments, no schools and very few teachers.

Widen the circle and the list grows, but so does the price. Every extra kilometre a tutor drives is unpaid time that returns to you as a higher hourly rate. The published UAE market makes the shape of this visible. A qualified subject teacher working online advertises around AED 150 to 300 an hour, as Unitors publishes for IGCSE and IB. Ask for an arrival at a door and the band becomes AED 180 to 500, with Bestimate's 2026 rate table for the country putting in-home one-to-one at 180 to 350 and independent home tutors at 200 to 500. You are paying more, from a smaller shortlist, for the same hour of teaching.

That is the argument this page is built on, and it is an argument about value rather than convenience. Specialist subject teachers are genuinely scarce in the northern emirates: the private-school set in Ras Al Khaimah is small and concentrated around Al Nakheel, Al Hamra and Mina Al Arab, so a family needing Higher Level physics or Cambridge Additional Mathematics 0606 is not choosing between several local candidates. They are choosing between one, none, or somebody who teaches the subject one tier below the level required.

IB Gram's answer is to drop the distance filter entirely. Lessons for families here are one-to-one online tuition over live video, with a shared whiteboard, screen annotation and a recording afterwards. We do not send a tutor to a UAE address; in-home visits are a service we run only in India, and we would rather say that in the fourth paragraph than bury it. What replaces the drive is choice: the tutor is selected because they have taught the exact specification your child sits, and their postcode never enters the decision.

The sections that follow are organised around money, because that is what this search cluster is really asking. What a radius buys and what it costs. Which subjects repay paid hours fastest and which do not. What we will tell you if nobody suitable is free, and what happens to the rate then. Who regulates your child's school and why that changes nothing about your tutoring choice but everything about your exam dates. And the equivalency rules that decide whether a set of certificates earned in this emirate opens a UAE university door.

IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Island households split across both of the programmes in this page's title, often inside the same family. The notes below are about what each programme costs in support hours and where that support has to be bought from, rather than a brochure description.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects across the groups, three at Higher Level, plus the extended essay, theory of knowledge and creativity-activity-service. The support profile is long and shallow rather than short and steep: two years of steady work, with the heaviest demand falling on internal assessment feedback and on Higher Level paper technique in the second year.

This is the level where a radius search fails hardest in the northern emirates. A Higher Level chemistry or mathematics teacher within twenty minutes of Al Marjan Island may simply not exist, and the local substitute is usually a graduate in the subject who has never taught the Diploma. Those are different products and they should not cost the same.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

Five years assessed against four criteria per subject, each marked out of eight, which is why an MYP grade cannot be read like a percentage. Families often buy support here for the wrong reason, treating a 5 as a failure when it is a mid-band outcome, and under-buy in the year that actually decides the Diploma entry.

The cheapest useful money in this programme goes on the transition year. An MYP student moving into Higher Level mathematics or sciences needs algebraic fluency that the criteria do not test directly, and a term of work in the summer before the Diploma is worth more than the same spend in the first term of it.

CIEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Cambridge IGCSE

Single-subject courses with codes that decide everything about the match: 0580 and 0606 mathematics, 0625 physics, 0620 chemistry, 0610 biology, 0455 economics. Core and Extended tiers carry different grade ceilings, and the entry your school has made is the first thing a tutor should ask about.

Cambridge candidates in Ras Al Khaimah sit the June series, with November as the resit route. Every centre is allocated to one of six administrative zones with its own timetable, and Cambridge states it cannot accept responsibility for a candidate who misses a paper after using the wrong zone's version, so dates come from the school's exams officer.

EDXAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

The second board in the emirate, with its own codes such as 4MA1 and 4PH1 and, in some subjects, a modular route that lets a unit result be banked. That changes how support should be bought, because a modular entry has more than one deadline to work towards in a single year.

Pearson runs International GCSE in May/June and November. The published record is checkable: June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, while November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Pearson issues provisional timetables ahead of a series, so always work from the live official document.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

IB Diploma subjects first, with the honest note on how many paid hours each tends to need and why. Cost per grade moved varies enormously by subject, and no near-me list will tell you that.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The subject families over-buy and under-target. Higher Level marks concentrate in Paper 3's extended investigations and in proof technique; Standard Level losses are usually algebraic rather than conceptual. A diagnosis on two past papers locates almost all of it, which keeps the hours finite.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Modelling, statistics and the graphical calculator. Students lose marks to unjustified model choices and to writing conclusions that do not refer back to the context. That is a technique repair, not a content one, and it is among the cheapest grade movements available.

Physics

HL and SL

Higher Level adds depth that punishes shaky algebra, and the data-analysis questions reward a habit rather than knowledge. Pair it with mathematics under one tutor where possible, because the rearranging that fails in physics is usually failing in maths too.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Organic mechanisms and energetics carry the Higher Level grade, and the internal assessment is where families most often need feedback rather than teaching. Marks are lost in the evaluation section far more often than in the method.

Biology

HL and SL

Broad content with precise terminology requirements. The expensive error is buying content hours when the loss is in command-term reading: a student who explains when asked to evaluate will score in the middle band whatever they know.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy and evaluation marks decide it, and the internal assessment commentaries need a tutor who will question a choice of article rather than suggest one. Higher Level adds quantitative work that catches students who chose the subject to avoid maths.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The individual oral and Paper 1's unseen analysis are both teachable techniques with a short learning curve and a long practice tail. Buy fewer hours earlier and more marking later; the reverse is the common and expensive mistake.

Business Management

HL and SL

Application to the stimulus material is the whole grade. Students who learn more theory and score the same are losing application marks, and that pattern is visible in a single marked paper.

Psychology

HL and SL

Study knowledge is necessary and insufficient: the marks sit in using a named study as evidence for a specific argument. One of the subjects where a local generalist and a specialist produce visibly different work.

Theory of Knowledge and the extended essay

Core

Not taught so much as supervised, and the support is feedback on the student's own drafting. A tutor questions the research question, names what is unsupported and stops there; the writing belongs to the candidate and nobody else.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE side of the same household, where the cost arithmetic is different: narrower loss patterns, faster diagnosis, fewer hours to a grade.

Mathematics (0580 / 4MA1)

Core and Extended

The most predictable repair in either programme. Algebraic manipulation, bearings, vectors and the structured longer questions account for most losses, and eight to twelve targeted sessions is a realistic estimate once a paper has been marked properly.

Additional Mathematics (0606)

Extended only

Calculus and trigonometric identities with no Core safety net, taken by students heading for Higher Level Diploma mathematics. Few teachers in the northern emirates have taught it, which is precisely where a radius search returns nothing usable.

Physics (0625 / 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Electricity costs more marks than any other topic and the alternative-to-practical paper is a separate skill. Expect roughly a third of the hours to go on experimental method rather than content.

Chemistry (0620)

Core and Extended

Mole calculations, ionic equations and qualitative analysis. Students who answer in words where symbols are required bleed marks steadily, and that is a cheap and quick correction.

English as a First Language (0500)

Single tier

Directed writing technique can be taught in a handful of sessions and then needs marked practice for a term. The money belongs at the back end of the year, not the front.

Economics (0455)

Extended

A student who can define every term and still sits mid-band is losing the same evaluation marks every time. Several marked attempts fix it; more theory does not.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three arrangements island families use, all delivered one-to-one over live video. None of them involves travel, so none of them carries a travel premium or a weather risk.

Single-subject specialist slot

One tutor, one subject, one fixed weekly slot, chosen for having taught that syllabus code at that level. This is what a near-me search cannot deliver from an island postcode, and it is the arrangement that moves a grade fastest per dirham spent.

  • Matched on syllabus code and component, never on distance
  • Work set and marked between sessions
  • A topic list you can see shrinking week by week
  • Recording available after every session

Diploma core supervision

Shorter, less frequent sessions across a longer stretch, for the internal assessment, extended essay and theory of knowledge. The tutor questions, names what is unsupported and hands the drafting back. It is the lowest-hour, highest-leverage support in the Diploma.

  • Fortnightly rather than weekly, timed to the school's internal deadlines
  • Feedback given in conversation and annotation, never written into the file
  • Research question interrogated before any writing starts
  • Official criteria used as the reference, linked rather than reproduced

Two-programme household plan

For families running a Diploma student and an IGCSE student at once, scheduled as one conversation and reviewed together. It avoids the common outcome where the younger child's support quietly disappears because the exam year absorbed the whole budget.

  • One schedule covering both children, reviewed each term
  • The younger child's slot protected during the older one's exam run
  • Shared skills taught once: significant figures, graph work, command terms
  • Separate tutors where the specifications differ, which is usually

01

What a near-me radius buys, and what it costs you in choice

Start with what the search is doing. A near-me query sorts by distance, which is a proxy for convenience and a terrible proxy for competence. On an island with one causeway, convenience and competence point in opposite directions: the people who can reach you easily are the ones who live nearby, and the people who have taught your child's exact course are distributed across the whole country.

The table below sets out what each radius contains. It is not a measurement of a tutor register, because no such register is published for this emirate; it is the practical experience of matching families from these postcodes, and it is deliberately framed as what you give up rather than what you get. Inside twenty minutes you are choosing from a handful of generalists. Inside the emirate you have added some subject teachers and all of them are now quoting travel. Nationally, and online, the constraint disappears and the binding question becomes the evening slot rather than the map.

There is a version of the radius search that works, and it is worth saying so. A primary-age child who needs reading practice and a routine is well served by somebody local, patient and inexpensive, and the subject specialism hardly matters. The radius fails at the top end: Higher Level sciences, Additional Mathematics 0606, Diploma mathematics Paper 3, a first-language English grade stuck in the middle band. Those need somebody who has taught the component, and distance has nothing to do with whether they have.

Cost per grade moved: which subjects repay paid hours fastest

  • Narrow, repeatable loss patterns are cheap to fix; judgement is not
  • A marked past paper beats a school report for working out which is which
  • Spend on one subject to completion before opening a second slot
  • No honest provider will convert hours into a promised grade

Families budget by subject and almost nobody prices by outcome, which is why two households spending the same amount get very different results. Some grades are cheap to move because the loss pattern is narrow and diagnosable; others are expensive because the thing being bought is judgement, and judgement needs repeated marked attempts rather than explanation.

Mathematics at either level is the clearest example of the cheap end. A student losing marks to algebraic manipulation and to the structure of longer questions can usually be diagnosed in one session and repaired in eight to twelve, because the failure repeats in an identifiable way. First-language English sits at the other end. Nothing is broken in a diagnosable sense; the student writes competently and scores in the middle band, and moving that requires several marked pieces with the same reader. The hours are not wasted, but they are not eight either.

The table is an estimate and says so. Any provider offering you a fixed number of hours to a fixed grade is selling something they cannot deliver, and a grade promise is the one claim we will not make on any page. What a range does is let you decide which subject to spend on first, which is the decision that actually determines whether the money worked. A family with one evening slot and three worries should put it where the loss pattern is narrowest, finish that subject, and then move the slot; the alternative, three subjects maintained at an hour a week each, produces thirty hours per subject across a year and closes none of them.

Coverage and the honest fallback when nobody suitable is free

No competitor in this search cluster discloses a coverage limit, and several conceal non-local delivery behind a foreign phone number. We would rather publish the limit. There are subject and level combinations where the roster is thin in any given term, and a family in Ras Al Khaimah asking for one of them deserves to know that before they clear an evening.

What happens in practice is one of three things. Either a specialist is available and you are matched within a few days; or the specialist is available at a different time and the question becomes whether your evening can move; or nobody who has taught that component is free, in which case we say so. The third answer is the one that matters, because the alternative, universal in this market, is to put a confident generalist in front of a Higher Level student and hope.

The table sets out where the roster is deep and where it is not. Treat it as a statement about availability rather than about quality: a generalist who is honest about having taught the subject at a lower level is often the right answer for a Standard Level student and the wrong answer for a Higher Level one. The rate does not change because a fallback applies; what changes is what we tell you the session can achieve. Published honestly, a thin month is also useful information for a family: it is the strongest possible argument for booking an autumn slot in a scarce subject rather than appearing in March and discovering that the only remaining option is somebody who has taught the course one level down.

Who regulates your child's school, and why it changes your dates

Five bodies regulate private schools across the seven emirates, and almost nobody in this search cluster names more than one of them. Dubai sits with the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, described by the UAE government's own information service as responsible for enhancing and overseeing the quality of private education in the emirate. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain sit with the Department of Education and Knowledge, which supervises the licensing and accreditation of private schools there. Sharjah has the Sharjah Private Education Authority, which regulates private education in that emirate.

Ras Al Khaimah has its own Department of Knowledge, which regulates private education here, and the same government source records that the Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah authorities approve tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah fall under the federal Ministry of Education, which supervises private schools in those three emirates. That is the complete map, and it is worth having because families moving within the country assume the Dubai rules travel with them.

None of this changes which tutor is right for your child. What it changes is your calendar and your paperwork: which authority approves the fee you are paying, which one your school answers to on curriculum and assessment, and which route you will use for attestation later. A tutoring page cannot do any of that for you, and a tutoring company claiming approval from any of these bodies is making a claim it cannot support. IB Gram holds no regulator or examination-board approval and does not suggest otherwise.

Equivalency: the five subjects that decide a UAE university application

Certificates earned in Ras Al Khaimah have to be recognised before they open a UAE university door, and the rules for the British track are published and specific. A student must pass five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and must submit proof of one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or better, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade.

Two details catch families out. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five required subjects, which means a student counting them towards the total may be a subject short without knowing it. And the figure is five, not six: one ranking competitor in this market publishes six, and a family acting on that is being told to buy an unnecessary entry. For the American track the published requirements are different again, with English proficiency met by a score of 5 in the academic IELTS, 61 in the TOEFL iBT or 450 in the SAT reading and writing section, and mathematics requiring at least 450 in the SAT Math test.

For the IB there is no number we will print. The source that sets out the British and American tracks states no IB points threshold, and we will not publish one that has not been read on the Ministry of Education's own pages. Equivalency is also not something a tutoring company performs, guarantees or speeds up. Describe it, check it with the authority, and treat any provider offering to handle it as a provider to be wary of.

Arabic, Islamic education and social studies alongside an international timetable

  • Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies sit on top of any international curriculum by federal rule
  • Separate classes for Arab and non-Arab groups are required in the mandatory subjects in Dubai
  • Instructional time is counted in forty-minute units, with a twenty-five minute minimum advised
  • Material is prescribed, so support means working with the school's programme rather than around it

Families comparing tutoring quotes often leave these three subjects out of the budget entirely, and then discover in Year 10 that they carry real timetable weight. Private schools in the UAE are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must adhere to the Ministry's general regulations. That federal baseline is why every emirate has a mandatory-subject requirement sitting on top of whatever international programme a school is licensed for.

Dubai's regulator publishes the most detailed version, and it is instructive even for a Ras Al Khaimah family because it shows how seriously the requirement is treated. Arabic, Islamic education and social or moral studies are mandatory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum. Schools must organise separate classes for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic education and social studies, and combined classes for both groups are prohibited because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ. Instructional time is calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit, and schools are advised that any mandatory subject lesson should run at least twenty-five minutes.

Two consequences follow for anyone buying support. First, the content is prescribed: using different or additional material without prior permission from the Ministry is not allowed, so a tutor working in these subjects supports the school's own programme rather than importing their own. Second, teachers of Islamic education and Arabic in Dubai schools must hold the regulator's own clearance to teach them, which is a concrete thing to ask about. Neither point is a reason to skip the subjects in a plan; both are reasons to ask a provider a specific question before paying.

07

The money questions nobody asks until the third term

  • Do not open a second subject in the final eight weeks; finish the first
  • Stop paying when the papers are sat, and expect your provider to say so
  • Plan the Holy Month schedule before it starts, with post-Iftar slots
  • Settle the change-of-tutor process before the first invoice, not after

By March the conversations change. Families who started in September with a general worry arrive with specific, slightly panicked questions, and they are almost always questions that would have been cheaper to ask in October. The commonest is whether to add a second or third subject eight weeks out. The answer is nearly always no: at that point the budget belongs on timed papers and marking in the subject already running, because adding a new diagnosis in April buys an incomplete repair in two places instead of a finished one in a single place.

The second is whether to keep paying after the papers are sat. There is no reason to, and a provider who does not tell you that is being paid for your inertia. We will say when a plan has finished. The third is what happens to the slot during the Holy Month, when evening routines invert and a four o'clock session becomes unworkable; sessions move to a post-Iftar time and the week usually gets lighter rather than heavier, which the plan should anticipate in advance rather than absorb as disruption.

The fourth question is the one worth asking first, in the trial lesson, about what happens if the tutor is wrong for your child. A fair answer names a process and a timescale, inside a fortnight, without buying the term again. A provider who cannot answer it has designed their pricing around you not asking, and on an island postcode where your alternatives are genuinely limited, that is the asymmetry most worth closing before you pay anybody.

08

Running a Diploma student and an IGCSE student in one household

A good proportion of island families are doing both at once, and the two programmes behave so differently that a single household budget usually gets allocated badly. IGCSE support is a sprint with a finite target: a diagnosable loss pattern, a known number of sessions, a paper in June. Diploma support is a two-year arrangement where the heaviest leverage sits in internal assessment feedback and in Higher Level paper technique, and where the core pieces have internal school deadlines rather than board exam dates.

The practical failure is predictable. The exam-year child absorbs the budget and the younger one loses their slot in February, which is exactly the term in which the IGCSE tier decision and the Diploma subject choices are being made. Protecting the younger slot through the older child's exam run costs less than reinstating it a year later, because a dropped routine is more expensive to rebuild than to maintain.

The table compares the two cost profiles honestly, including where each programme needs fewer hours than families expect. Diploma core supervision is the clearest example: fortnightly feedback on the student's own drafting, over several months, is a small number of sessions with a large effect, and it is the one place where buying more hours actively risks crossing a line that must not be crossed. The more time a paid adult spends with a draft that must be the candidate's own work, the harder it becomes to keep the help on the right side of the academic honesty rules, so the low session count is a feature of the design rather than a limit on the service.

What a trial lesson should prove before you spend anything

  • Confirm board, syllabus code, tier and level before the trial, not during it
  • The child should be working for most of the hour, not listening
  • Finish with a named loss pattern and an estimated session range in writing
  • Any condition attached to the word free should be stated on the same page

A free first session is standard across this market and it is used badly almost everywhere. Most providers treat it as a sales meeting with teaching attached: the tutor talks, the child nods, the parent is reassured, and nothing has been established. A trial should be a diagnosis, and you should finish it holding information you did not have an hour earlier.

The useful version is simple. Your child attempts real past-paper questions at the right tier while the tutor watches and says very little. The tutor then tells you three things: where the marks are being lost, what pattern connects the losses, and roughly how many sessions that implies. If they cannot do the third, they have not done the first. Insist on the subject and tier being correct before the session, because a Core-tier diagnosis on an Extended-tier candidate is worse than no diagnosis at all.

There is one condition worth stating plainly, because caution about the word free is well earned in this market. Our trial is a single lesson with the proposed tutor, before any payment and with no card details taken, and it exists so you can judge the teaching rather than the brochure. If the match is wrong you say so and nothing is owed. That is the whole offer, and anything a provider attaches to the word free that is not visible on the same screen as the word deserves a question.

One more thing a trial should settle, and it is the question island families are least likely to ask: what happens if the match is wrong in week three. Get a named process and a timescale before the first invoice rather than after it.

These notes are about the radius a near-me search draws and what falls inside it. The distances are the reason local supply is thin, and they are the reason the rate rises when you insist on proximity.

Al Marjan Island

Four reclaimed fronds of apartments and hotels with one road on and off. A ten-minute radius here contains residents and resort staff, and no school campus, so the nearest teacher is already a mainland teacher.

Al Hamra Village

The closest mainland community and the closest campuses, including the RAK Academy British and international schools. This is where a genuinely local tutor would live, and the pool is small enough to be counted on one hand per subject.

Mina Al Arab and Hayat Island

South along the coast road, villas and low-rise apartments. Same radius problem, same answer: families here are choosing between a short list of nearby generalists and an open list of specialists online.

Al Nakheel and Al Uraibi

The commercial centre and the emirate's main concentration of independent tutors. Twenty-five to forty minutes from the island on a weekday evening, which is the premium you are quoted when you ask for an arrival.

Khuzam

Inland district built around a British curriculum campus. Island children enrolled there already commute once a day; a near-me search that produces a Khuzam tutor is proposing a second journey in the same direction.

Al Dhait North and South

The large residential belt towards the ring road, where most locally advertised tutors are pricing for Al Dhait families. An island booking is quoted at the top of their range, for the obvious reason.

Al Jazirah Al Hamra and the Dubai road corridor

Between the coast and the emirate boundary, with many parents commuting south. Dubai specialists are reachable online from here in a heartbeat and unreachable by car on a school night.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Marjan Island

Campuses on the Al Hamra side, nearest the island

Island families are most often enrolled here, which fixes their term dates, mock windows and board entries. Those three things decide when tutoring money converts into marks, so they matter more to a plan than the distance to a tutor.

  • RAK Academy - British School Al Hamra
  • RAK Academy - International School Al Hamra
  • RAK English Speaking School
  • RAK Academy - British School Khuzam

City-side campuses a minority of island households commute to

Indian-curriculum and city British schools in Al Nakheel and Al Uraibi, reached by a daily drive north. Children on the same frond can sit different boards, which is why a shared tutor rarely works across two households.

  • The Indian School Ras Al Khaimah
  • Our Own English High School, Ras Al Khaimah
  • Scholars Indian School, Ras Al Khaimah
  • Little Flower English School, Ras Al Khaimah

These schools are named to describe the education context around Al Marjan Island; IB Gram asserts no affiliation with, approval from or relationship to any of them.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Send the specification, not the postcode

Subject, board, syllabus code, tier or level, school and year group. On an island address the postcode is the least useful thing you can tell us, and the syllabus code is the most useful. That one message removes the guesswork that makes a near-me search so slow.

  2. 02

We tell you the coverage position first

Before a slot is offered we say whether a specialist in that exact component is available, available at a different time, or not available this term. The third answer is given rather than disguised, because a Higher Level student placed with a generalist loses a term finding out.

  3. 03

A diagnostic trial lesson, free, with the proposed tutor

One session spent on real past-paper questions while the tutor watches. You end it with the loss pattern, the connecting cause and an estimated session range. No payment is taken beforehand and nothing is owed if the match is wrong.

  4. 04

A written plan you can price

Topics, components, session length, frequency and an estimated range of sessions. An estimate can be checked against reality in four weeks; an open-ended arrangement cannot be checked at all. You set the budget against the plan rather than against a monthly habit.

  5. 05

Review at four weeks, then at the mock results

Two fixed review points. The first asks whether the diagnosis was right; the second asks whether to step up, hold or stop. Most plans change at one of them, and a provider who never proposes stopping is not reviewing anything.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Matching on the specification, not the map

The tutor is chosen because they have taught the component your child sits. Distance is not a quality signal and on an island postcode it is an active filter against competence, which is why we removed it from the decision rather than charging you to overcome it.

The coverage limit is published, not hidden

No competitor in this cluster states where its roster is thin, and several route UAE families to a foreign phone number instead. We tell you when nobody suitable is free, and we would rather lose the booking than place a generalist on a Higher Level course.

Rates on this page belong to whoever published them

Every AED band here is attributed to its source and the month we read it. We do not present market figures as our price list, we quote in dirhams rather than dollars, and our own cost arrives with a written plan rather than before one.

The coursework boundary is written down

A tutor questions a draft, names what is unsupported and hands it back. Nobody here writes a student's internal assessment or extended essay, and no official paper or mark scheme is supplied as a download. Both of those are things competitors in this market sell openly.

No approval we do not hold

IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation or licence from any education regulator or examination board, and no UAE office. We name the regulators to explain what they do. Any tutoring page that implies endorsement by one of them is making the single most dangerous claim available in this market.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Marjan Island: your questions answered

Why does an IB IGCSE tutor near me search return so little from Al Marjan Island?+

Because the island is residential and the mainland pool is small. There is no school campus on the fronds, so the nearest teacher is already a mainland teacher in Al Hamra, Al Nakheel or Khuzam. The private-school set in Ras Al Khaimah is concentrated in a few districts, and specialist Diploma and Extended-tier teachers are scarce locally in a way they simply are not in Dubai. A radius search is sorting a short list by distance; it is not telling you whether anyone on it has taught the specification your child sits.

Is a nearby generalist ever better than a distant specialist?+

Yes, for a specific job. A primary or lower-secondary child who needs routine, reading practice and someone patient is well served locally, and subject specialism barely matters. The radius fails at the top: Higher Level sciences, Cambridge Additional Mathematics 0606, Diploma mathematics Paper 3, a middle-band first-language English grade. Those need somebody who has taught that component and marked against its scheme, and whether they live twenty minutes away has no bearing on whether they have. Match the choice to the job rather than to the map.

What should we expect to pay for Higher Level Diploma support here?+

The published UAE market puts a qualified subject teacher online at roughly AED 150 to 300 an hour, with Unitors listing IB from AED 200, and specialist IB and IGCSE tutors at AED 200 to 450 or more on Bestimate's 2026 table, while TutorChase quotes AED 270. In-home delivery moves the band to AED 180 to 500. Those are other providers' figures read in October 2026 rather than ours. IB Gram discusses cost against a written plan after the trial lesson, which is the only point at which a number means anything.

How quickly can a specialist be matched for an island family?+

For IGCSE mathematics and the sciences, usually within a few days. For Cambridge Additional Mathematics 0606, Higher Level Diploma mathematics or Higher Level sciences, allow a week or two, because the roster for those is moderate rather than deep in any given term. Theory of knowledge and extended essay supervision should be planned a term ahead and cannot sensibly be arranged in April. If nobody who has taught the component is free, we say so rather than offering a substitute without naming the substitution.

Do you ever tell a family you cannot help?+

Yes, and it is the part of this page most worth checking against competitors. If a Higher Level psychology or economics request arrives at peak season and no tutor on the roster has taught that course, the honest answer is no rather than a confident generalist. Placing one costs a family a term and then the money again. No provider in the researched UAE market discloses a coverage limit at all, and several hide non-local delivery behind a foreign phone number, which is the same problem wearing a better suit.

Which regulator approves our school in Ras Al Khaimah?+

The emirate's own Department of Knowledge, which the UAE government's information service describes as regulating private education here. The same source records that the Ras Al Khaimah authority approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods, so more than inspection sits with it. Dubai schools answer to the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, Abu Dhabi and Al Ain to the Department of Education and Knowledge, Sharjah to its Private Education Authority, and Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah to the federal Ministry of Education.

Does IB Gram hold any approval from a regulator or an exam board?+

No. We hold no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from any UAE education regulator, from the IB, from Cambridge or from Pearson, and we have no office or centre in the country. We name those bodies on these pages to explain what they govern and where to verify something, which is a different thing entirely. A tutoring business with premises and staff in Dubai would need an educational services permit for a training institute, and describing yourself as approved without holding one is the most dangerous claim in this market.

How many IGCSE subjects does our daughter need for equivalency?+

Five accredited subjects at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus one accredited Advanced Level subject at E or better, or two Advanced Subsidiary subjects at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not counted among the five, which is where families most often come up short without realising. The number is five and not six, despite a ranking competitor publishing six. Check your own case against the Ministry of Education's current guidance, because this is a regulatory process no tutoring company performs or speeds up.

Is there a points figure for IB equivalency we should be working towards?+

Not one we will publish. The sourced guidance we can cite sets out the British and American tracks in detail and states no IB points threshold at all, so any number you see on a tutoring page for that has come from somewhere unverifiable. Ask your school's IB coordinator and check the Ministry of Education's own pages. The same caution applies to IB exam and results dates: the IB's site blocks automated checking, so nothing on this page states a Diploma session date, and your coordinator is the only reliable source for yours.

Can one tutor take both our Diploma child and our IGCSE child?+

Occasionally, and usually not. A Higher Level chemistry teacher can certainly handle Cambridge 0620 Extended, so where the subjects line up it works and saves a scheduling conversation. Where they do not, two children get half a tutor each. The bigger saving in a two-programme household comes from protecting the younger child's slot through the older one's exam run, because February is exactly when the IGCSE tier decision and the Diploma subject choices are made, and a dropped routine costs more to rebuild than to keep.

Do we need to budget for Arabic and Islamic education as well?+

Many families should, and most leave it out of the plan. Private schools in the UAE must cover Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies alongside their licensed international curriculum under the federal rules, and in Dubai the regulator sets out separate classes for Arab and non-Arab groups, prescribed content, and instructional time counted in forty-minute units. Support in these subjects means working with the school's own programme rather than importing other material, because using different or additional content without ministry permission is not allowed.

What does the trial lesson actually have to produce?+

Three things, in writing. Where marks are being lost, the pattern connecting those losses, and an estimated number of sessions to close them. If a tutor cannot give you the third, they have not really done the first. Your child should be working for most of the hour on real past-paper questions at the correct tier rather than listening to an introduction. It is one free session with the proposed tutor, taken before any payment and with no card details, and nothing is owed if the match is wrong.

Should we add a second subject in the last eight weeks before the papers?+

Almost never. Eight weeks out, a new subject means a new diagnosis, and a diagnosis that lands in May leaves no time to act on it. The money does more in the subject already running, switched from teaching to timed papers and marking against the official scheme. The exception is where two subjects share a skill that is failing in both, such as graph work or significant figures, in which case one tutor can drill it once and both grades move without a second arrangement being bought.

How do sessions work during the Holy Month in Ras Al Khaimah?+

Evening routines invert, so a four o'clock slot becomes unworkable and a post-Iftar slot becomes the obvious one. Because lessons are delivered over live video there is no travel to reorganise, and the move is a change of time rather than a change of arrangement. The sensible plan also gets lighter rather than heavier for those weeks, with one session instead of two and marked work set across a longer gap. Agree that shape in advance rather than letting it happen as disruption.

Can a tutor help with the extended essay without breaking the rules?+

Yes, and the boundary is firm. A supervisor or tutor may interrogate a research question, point out that an argument is unsupported, show how a source should be handled and name what is weak in a draft the student wrote. No tutor may write a student's extended essay, draft their internal assessment or edit a piece to completion, because submitted work that is not the candidate's own is malpractice and the consequence falls on the student. Any provider offering finished coursework is selling a risk, not a service.

Replace the radius with the specification

A near-me search from Al Marjan Island is asking the wrong question of a short list. Tell us the subject, the board, the syllabus code and the level instead, and we will say straight away whether somebody who has taught that exact component is free this term. If they are, your child sits a free trial lesson with them, one-to-one over live video at a Gulf Standard Time slot that fits an island evening, and you finish it with a named loss pattern and an estimated number of hours. If they are not, we will tell you that too, which is the one answer this market never gives.
