IB Home Tutor in Al Mamourah

Most families looking for an IB home tutor in Al Mamourah are not short of effort; they are out of sequence. The Diploma is decided by a chain of internal deadlines in Ras Al Khaimah schools that sit months before the May session, and a term spent on the wrong thing cannot be recovered later. This page lays the two years out backwards so you can see which deadline is next. Lessons are one-to-one and live over video on Gulf Standard Time.

  • Plans are written back from your school's internal deadlines, not forward from today
  • UAE Diploma candidates sit the May session; dates come from your coordinator
  • Lessons run live over video; no tutor is sent to a Ras Al Khaimah address

IB & IGCSE in Al Mamourah

The Diploma is a calendar problem before it is a teaching problem

Al Mamourah sits in the Ras Al Khaimah city area, close to Al Qusaidat and the older residential districts behind the creek. Secondary students here travel out to the emirate's private schools, most of which cluster around Al Nakheel, Al Hamra Village and Mina Al Arab. The practical consequence is that a weekday already contains two journeys before any studying starts, and the realistic window for a session opens around five in the evening rather than straight after the last lesson.

That is the small version of the problem. The large version is sequencing. The Diploma runs on a chain of deadlines that the school sets and the family discovers late: subject and level confirmation, the Extended Essay research question, the first Extended Essay draft, the reflection sessions, the Theory of Knowledge essay title, the Internal Assessment drafts for six separate subjects, Creativity, Activity and Service completion, mock papers, predicted grades, and then the May session itself. Miss the order and a student spends Year 13 doing Year 12's work.

Private schools in Ras Al Khaimah answer to the emirate's Department of Knowledge, which regulates private education here and approves tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. What it does not do is publish your child's internal Diploma deadlines, because those belong to the school. So the first useful action on this page is not booking a tutor; it is asking the Diploma coordinator for the internal deadline list in writing, which almost nobody does and which changes every conversation afterwards.

IB Gram matches Al Mamourah students to Diploma subject specialists and delivers every lesson one-to-one over live video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. We do not send a tutor to a UAE address, and home visits are a service we run in India only. In a northern emirate where a Higher Level cohort can number a dozen students, a specialist chosen for the subject beats a generalist chosen for proximity, and that trade is the reason the format is what it is.

The sections below give you the two years as a backwards table, the internal deadlines that genuinely bite, what a term of support costs in AED with the publisher named, how Ramadan and the UAE school calendar move the revision window, how the Diploma calendar collides with university application deadlines, and what the options are if the May results disappoint. Read the first table, mark where your child is, and the next decision usually becomes obvious.

One honest caveat about dates. This page publishes no specific IB exam or results date. The board's own site is the only authority for those and it should be read there or confirmed with your child's Diploma coordinator, because a tutoring page quoting an IB date is a page a parent might plan a flight around. Cambridge and Pearson dates are a different matter and are cited below with their sources, since those boards publish them openly.

At a glance

  • Ask the Diploma coordinator for the internal deadline list in writing, in Year 12
  • Extended Essay sits at 4,000 words; the Theory of Knowledge essay at 1,600
  • UAE Diploma candidates sit the May session; confirm dates with the school
  • Market rates for a weekly hour run roughly AED 600-1,200 per month
  • Ramadan shortens school days and moves study to post-Iftar hours
  • Lessons are delivered one-to-one and live over video
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Al Mamourah families meet the IB in three forms, and each has a different calendar shape. The Diploma is the one with hard external deadlines; the two below it are where the habits that survive the Diploma are built.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects across Standard and Higher Level plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries an Internal Assessment marked by the school against published criteria and moderated externally, so a meaningful share of the final grade is settled before any exam paper is opened. The core components have their own deadlines that run independently of subject teaching.

Ras Al Khaimah Diploma candidates sit the May session, like the rest of the UAE. The internal deadlines are set by your school and are the ones that control the plan: Extended Essay research question and drafts, reflection sessions, Theory of Knowledge title and essay, and six Internal Assessment submissions. Ask the coordinator for all of them at the start of Year 12 rather than discovering them one at a time.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

IB Middle Years Programme

Criterion-referenced assessment across eight subject groups, each reported on a one-to-eight scale rather than as a percentage, ending in the Personal Project. The Personal Project is the first time most students manage a long piece of work against a deadline they own, which makes it a rehearsal for the Extended Essay rather than a box to tick.

An MYP student in Ras Al Khaimah moving into the Diploma faces the steepest jump in mathematics and the sciences, where Diploma teaching assumes algebraic fluency the MYP does not require. Caught in Year 11, that is eight to twelve weeks of work over a summer. Caught in the first Diploma report, it competes with six new subjects for the same evenings.

PYPAges 3-12

IB Primary Years Programme

Inquiry-led and transdisciplinary, with no external examinations. The relevant feature for a Diploma-minded parent is the exhibition at the end, which asks a young student to plan and present independent work. Families who treat that as practice rather than performance tend to find the Personal Project and Extended Essay less alarming later.

PYP provision in Ras Al Khaimah is limited compared with Dubai, so families in Al Mamourah often start in another curriculum and transfer in. A transfer at Year 6 or Year 7 is straightforward; a transfer into Year 11 or the first Diploma year is not, and the gap that needs closing is in independent written work rather than in subject content.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

IGCSE as the route into the Diploma

Most Ras Al Khaimah students reach the Diploma through Cambridge or Pearson IGCSE rather than through the MYP. Extended tier in mathematics and the sciences is effectively the entry requirement for Higher Level in those subjects, and the grades out of Year 11 set the ceiling on the Diploma subject choice.

UAE candidates sit Cambridge in the June and November series; the February and March series is offered to India only. Pearson International GCSE runs in May/June and November. Those four windows matter to a Diploma plan because a November resit sits inside the first Diploma term and competes with it for the student's attention.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the Diploma subjects Ras Al Khaimah families most often ask about, with the component that carries the calendar risk named in each case. The deadline problem and the content problem are usually different problems.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The exploration deadline tends to arrive while Paper 3 content is still being taught at Higher Level, so students who leave the topic choice late end up writing an exploration about material they have not yet mastered. Choosing the topic early, even provisionally, removes most of that collision.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics-heavy and calculator-assumed throughout. The exploration suits this course well because real data is easy to find, but students lose reflection marks by presenting the data rather than interrogating the model's fit. The deadline risk is low; the criterion risk is in reflection.

Chemistry

HL and SL

The scientific investigation is assessed on research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation at six marks each. Design has to be settled before data collection, which means the highest-value session of the whole component happens weeks before any draft exists.

Physics

HL and SL

Uncertainty propagation is examinable, routinely under-taught and quick to fix, which makes it the best value target in a short block. Paper 2 rewards algebraic rearrangement before substitution, a habit that has to be built rather than explained.

Biology

HL and SL

Content volume disguises the real issue, which is command-term discipline in six and eight-mark questions. The investigation design deadline is the one that creeps up, because biology investigations need growing time or sampling time that the calendar does not forgive.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

The individual oral and the written assignments are scheduled by the school, which means they land in the middle of other subjects' deadline weeks. Students who choose their global issue and extracts early buy themselves a calmer Year 13 regardless of ability.

Economics

HL and SL

Three commentaries at eight hundred words each, drawn from published articles, with their own internal dates. The commonest failure is leaving all three to the same fortnight, which produces three rushed diagrams and no evaluation worth marking.

Business Management

HL and SL

The project depends on access to an organisation and real information, so the practical constraint is other people's response times rather than the student's writing speed. Starting the approach early is worth more than starting the writing early.

History

HL and SL

The historical investigation runs to around two thousand two hundred words and depends on sources chosen before the question is finalised. Students who pick the question first and hunt sources afterwards usually have to change the question, losing a fortnight.

Psychology

HL and SL

The experimental study requires an ethical design and a replicable method, both of which must clear the school's internal approval before data collection. That approval step is the deadline nobody warns students about, and it sits early.

Computer Science

HL and SL

The solution requires a genuine client and a working artefact, so the dependency is a third party again. Scope is the trap: students design something ambitious in Year 12 and spend Year 13 trying to finish it instead of documenting it properly.

Visual Arts

HL and SL

The comparative study, process portfolio and exhibition accumulate across both years rather than arriving as a single deadline. Nothing can be caught up in a final term, which makes this the subject where calendar discipline matters most and is least often applied.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three shapes of support fit a calendar-led plan, and which one you need depends on how many deadlines are still ahead rather than on how worried anybody feels.

Deadline-anchored fortnightly, across both years

A fortnightly slot in one Higher Level subject that moves its focus according to what the school's calendar demands next. In the Extended Essay weeks it is planning and feedback; in the content weeks it is teaching; in the final term it becomes weekly and turns into paper technique. The point is that the plan changes shape while the slot stays fixed.

  • Fortnightly, one Higher Level subject
  • Focus set by the next internal deadline
  • Steps up to weekly in the final term
  • Written note after every session naming the next task

Core-component block

Six to ten sessions aimed at the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay or one Internal Assessment, timed to finish two weeks before the school's internal deadline rather than on it. Used by Al Mamourah families who are coping with subject teaching and losing on the core, which is the commonest pattern in Year 12.

  • One core component, one deadline
  • Planning session before the first draft
  • Feedback against the published criteria only
  • Finishes early, so the student does the final edit

Final-term paper block

Two sessions weekly for eight to ten weeks before the May session, built on timed past-paper work and mark-scheme reading. Opens with a full paper under exam conditions and closes with another, so the movement is measurable rather than felt. No new content is introduced in the last fortnight.

  • Two sessions weekly, one subject, fixed end date
  • Diagnostic paper first, comparable paper last
  • Topic order from component marks, not textbook order
  • Ends two weeks before the first paper

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Al Mamourah

01

What an Al Mamourah family is really asking for

  • The search is about removing a third journey, not about a format preference
  • The in-home premium pays for travel; in RAK it also shrinks the pool
  • Lessons here are one-to-one and live over video, stated before booking
  • If the specialist is unavailable, you hear that rather than a substitute

The phrase home tutor carries a logistics wish inside it. A family in Al Mamourah has already done two journeys to Al Nakheel or Al Hamra Village and back, and the idea of a third is unappealing. So the search is about removing travel rather than about a particular teaching format, and the honest answer has to deal with both halves of that.

In-home tutoring is a real market in the UAE and it carries a real premium. Published UAE rate surveys put in-home one-to-one at roughly AED 180-500 per hour including the visit, against roughly AED 150-300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. The gap is the journey. In Ras Al Khaimah, paying that gap narrows the available pool rather than widening it, because the people who can reach Al Mamourah on a Tuesday evening are a short list and the people who have taught Diploma Chemistry at Higher Level are a different list.

IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE. Every UAE lesson is one-to-one and live over video, timed to Gulf Standard Time, and that is a deliberate model rather than a gap in coverage. What it buys an Al Mamourah family is a tutor matched to the subject and level your child is actually sitting, available in the evening window that exists after the school run, with a written record of every session and no travel on either side.

The free trial lesson happens before any payment and runs on your child's own material, so the first session is evidence rather than a description. If the specialist your child needs is not available this month, you will be told that rather than offered somebody adjacent, which matters more in a Diploma year than in any other because the hours are finite and visible.

02

The Diploma, counted backwards from the May session

This is the table that should be on the fridge of every Diploma household in Ras Al Khaimah and almost never is. Read forwards, the two years look spacious. Read backwards from the final paper, the sequence turns out to be tight, and the two terms that feel least urgent, the first two, are the ones carrying the work that cannot be redone. Every assessed component in the list below has a date set by your school, and once passed it is passed.

The windows in the middle column are approximate on purpose, because schools set their internal dates differently and this page publishes no specific IB session date. What is consistent is the ordering and the relative distance. The Extended Essay research question has to be settled long before anyone feels ready to settle it; the Internal Assessments cluster in Year 13's first half and collide with each other; and the mock window is the last point at which an external signal arrives in time to act on.

The right-hand column is the one to use. It names what should already be true at each stage, which turns an anxious feeling into a checklist. A family in Al Mamourah who reads this in the first term of Year 12 is in an excellent position. A family reading it in the second term of Year 13 should stop reading at the mock row and plan the final block, because the earlier rows are now history and treating them otherwise wastes the time that remains.

One structural point about the Diploma that the table makes visible: the core components are the only part of the programme where a student can lose marks through administration rather than through ability. A strong candidate who submits an Extended Essay late, or who misses a reflection session, loses points that no amount of subject knowledge recovers. Calendar discipline is therefore not an organisational nicety; it is a grade component.

The internal deadline is the real deadline

  • School deadlines sit earlier than board windows, by design
  • Get every internal date in writing, in one list, at the start of Year 12
  • Bunching is visible months ahead once the list exists
  • A tutor should work to your school's dates, not to a generic schedule

Parents hear about the IB's deadlines and plan around them. The dates that actually govern a Ras Al Khaimah student's life are the school's, and they sit earlier, sometimes much earlier, because the school needs time to mark internally, moderate, and upload. A school asking for a final Internal Assessment weeks ahead of the board's own window is not being difficult; it is building in the time its own process needs.

This produces a predictable failure. A student works to a date they have heard mentioned, submits something close to it, and is told the school deadline passed a fortnight ago. Marks are capped or the draft is submitted unfinished. The fix is purely administrative: at the start of Year 12, ask the Diploma coordinator for every internal date in writing, in one list, and put them on a single calendar alongside the family's travel plans.

The second half of the fix is spacing. Six Internal Assessments plus the Extended Essay plus the Theory of Knowledge essay cannot be distributed evenly by the school, because each subject sets its own rhythm. So they bunch, and the bunching is visible months in advance once the list exists. A student who moves one investigation design forward by three weeks because the calendar shows two landing together has done more for their Diploma than a term of extra teaching would.

A tutor's role in this is narrow and useful. The tutor works to your school's dates rather than to a generic plan, finishes a core component block two weeks before the internal deadline so the student does the final edit themselves, and names in each session note which deadline the week's work belongs to. That last detail sounds trivial and is the thing that keeps a plan alive across eighteen months.

04

What a term of Diploma support costs in this market

Take the monthly figure first, because that is the number a household plans around. UAE rate surveys put a weekly one-hour session at roughly AED 240-600 a month for budget tutoring, AED 600-1,200 for a mid-market qualified tutor, and AED 1,000-2,000 or more for specialist exam-year support. Advertised packages in this market include online bundles from around AED 799 a month for eight sessions, and in-home bundles at AED 1,599-1,799 a month for four two-hour visits.

Converted to hours, the bands run as follows. Budget online and university-student tutors advertise from roughly AED 45-150, with one platform publishing from AED 33-52. A qualified subject tutor working online sits at roughly AED 150-300, with one UAE agency publishing International GCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. IB, IGCSE and A Level specialists run AED 200-450 and above, with a UK agency quoting AED 270. Premium named tutors reach AED 500-650, with one provider publishing AED 650.

Every figure above belongs to the survey or provider that published it. None is an IB Gram price, and nothing on this page is a quote. What we do publish is the model: one-to-one, delivered online, with a free trial lesson before any payment and no card needed to book it. Ask for a quote and it arrives with the session length, the subject and the level attached, because an hourly rate detached from those three things means very little.

The useful comparison for an Al Mamourah family is total block cost against a named target, not hourly rate against hourly rate. Ten sessions at a specialist rate aimed at one Internal Assessment criterion is a smaller and better-defined sum than two years of a cheap weekly slot with no endpoint. Ask any prospective tutor for the number of sessions, the target, and the evidence that will show whether it worked.

Ramadan, the UAE calendar and when revision actually happens

  • Ramadan shortens the school day and moves study to post-Iftar hours
  • Online delivery removes travel around prayer times and iftar
  • Move content teaching out of Ramadan; keep paper work inside it
  • Protect the final fortnight from new content entirely

A revision plan written without the UAE school calendar on the desk is a plan that will break. School days shorten during Ramadan, the useful study window moves to the late evening, and the weeks around Eid are effectively unavailable for new learning. None of that is a problem if the plan knows about it; all of it is a problem if the plan assumed twelve even weeks and got nine uneven ones.

The practical adjustments are small. Sessions move to a post-Iftar slot, which works because lessons are delivered online and there is no travel to schedule around prayer times or the family meal. Content-heavy teaching moves out of the Ramadan weeks and into the weeks either side, while the Ramadan sessions carry lighter work: past-paper sections, mark-scheme reading, criteria checks on a draft. The student keeps momentum without being asked to learn new material on a short night's sleep.

The same logic applies to the other fixed interruptions. Mid-term breaks, the National Day period, and family travel over the winter are all visible in advance, and a plan that absorbs them in October is a plan that survives March. Al Mamourah families who travel for part of the summer have an additional advantage with online delivery: the session runs from wherever the family is, so a four-week trip does not become a four-week gap.

One thing worth protecting deliberately. The fortnight immediately before the first paper should contain no new content and no new commitments, Ramadan or otherwise. Students who are still being taught in that window arrive at the first paper tired and uncertain, and the marks that teaching might have added are smaller than the marks the fatigue removes.

06

Where the Diploma calendar collides with university applications

  • Predicted grades rest on mock performance, months before the exams
  • The term before predictions is the highest-leverage point for a short block
  • Equivalency is a Ministry process; no tutor performs or guarantees it
  • Five IGCSE passes at E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education

Year 13 contains two calendars running at once and most families notice only in October. The Diploma calendar wants Internal Assessment drafts and mock preparation. The application calendar wants predicted grades, personal statements, essays, references and sometimes admissions tests. They peak within weeks of each other, and the student is the single resource both are drawing on.

Predicted grades are the hinge. They are issued by the school, they depend heavily on mock performance, and they determine which offers are realistic. A student whose mock sits two grades below the prediction they need is not short of time in May; they are short of evidence in November. That makes the term before predictions the highest-leverage point in the whole two years for a short, focused intervention in a single weak subject.

For UAE university routes there is a separate thread. The Ministry of Education equivalency process has its own documentary requirements and its own timing, and it is not something a tutoring service performs or guarantees. The British-track rule is published: five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from those five, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at grade E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level. For the IB there is no points figure published here, because none has been read on the Ministry's own site.

The sequencing advice is simple and rarely followed. Start the documentary work early, while the Diploma calendar is still light, rather than in the term where every deadline lands at once. Verify current requirements with the Ministry of Education or the emirate attestation authority directly, since they are the only authority on their own process, and no tutoring page should be the source you plan a university application around.

07

If the results disappoint: what the calendar still allows

  • Read the result component by component before choosing a route
  • An enquiry about results suits a mark just under a boundary
  • A retake competes with whatever the student starts next
  • Cambridge and Pearson both publish a November window for IGCSE resits

A disappointing result arrives with a shorter decision window than families expect, and the options are sequenced rather than simultaneous. First comes reading the result properly, subject by subject and component by component where the school can release that detail, because the pattern decides everything that follows. A single weak component with a clear cause is a different situation from an even spread of low marks across a subject.

Then come the formal routes, each with its own window. An enquiry about results is a short-window option run by the school with the board, suitable where a mark sits just under a boundary. A retake in a later session is a longer commitment and sits in the middle of whatever the student starts next. A revised university plan may be faster and better than either, and is the option families consider last when it often deserves to be considered first.

For IGCSE siblings the equivalent arithmetic is clearer because the boards publish it. Cambridge runs June and November series for UAE centres, and Pearson International GCSE runs in May/June and November, so a weak result in one series has a defined next window. The November 2026 Pearson timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those past dates show the rhythm; the live official timetable is the only version to plan from.

What a tutor contributes at this stage is diagnosis rather than reassurance. A marked script or a component breakdown, read against the published criteria or mark scheme, tells you whether five months of focused work would change the outcome or whether the sensible move is a different route. That is a conversation worth having in the first week after results rather than the fourth, because several of the windows close quickly.

08

Who may legally tutor in the UAE, and the one question to ask

  • Ask whether the tutor holds the MoHRE private tuition work permit
  • It is free, valid two years, and applied for through MoHRE's own channels
  • No fine schedule is published, so any quoted amount is invented
  • No regulator or board accredits IB Gram, and this page claims none

The permit question takes one sentence to ask and most families never ask it. Private tuition in the UAE operates under a work permit introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, issued through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation and granted free of charge for two years. So the question to any prospective tutor is whether they hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit, and a straight answer is a reasonable expectation.

The eligible categories are wider than most parents assume: teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. MoHRE's own service listing covers issuance of a new work permit for private tutor licensing, applied for through the ministry's smart app, website and e-services system, with no fee listed and a two-working-day completion time.

Two cautions attach. Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and the ministry has not published the amounts, so a specific figure quoted to you has been invented by whoever quoted it. And the permit carries a code of conduct that bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school, which is the same position ADEK takes in its professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff in Abu Dhabi.

None of this amounts to an endorsement of anybody. IB Gram holds no approval, accreditation, licence or partnership from the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Knowledge, KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, the IB, Cambridge or Pearson. A service that uses a regulator's name as an adjective about itself is making a claim it should be asked to evidence with a permit number.

09

The honesty line on the Extended Essay and Internal Assessments

  • Criteria, exemplars, questioning and feedback on the student's own work
  • No writing, finishing or editing to completion of any assessed component
  • Official materials are cited and linked, never reproduced or supplied
  • Core blocks end early so the student makes the final decisions

This has to be stated rather than assumed, because services in this market sell finished Internal Assessments at a published price and they appear in the same search results as this page. The boundary here is firm: a tutor explains the criteria, works through published exemplars, questions whether a research question or an investigation design can carry the required depth, and reads the student's own draft to name which criterion is under-served.

What the tutor does not do is produce the work. Nobody here writes, finishes or edits to completion an Internal Assessment, an Extended Essay or a Theory of Knowledge essay. Submitting work that is not the student's own is malpractice under the board's rules, and the penalty falls on the candidate rather than on whoever was paid, two years after the decision was taken. No fee arrangement compensates for a withheld Diploma.

There is a parallel rule about materials. Syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes, grade-boundary tables and subject guides belong to the IB, Cambridge and Pearson. They are cited and linked here rather than reproduced or supplied, because redistribution is a copyright matter and, for unreleased material, a malpractice exposure as well. A service offering a bundle of mark schemes as a selling point is offering something it does not own.

The practical effect on a core-component block is that it finishes two weeks before the school's internal deadline. The student does the final edit, in their own words, having been told clearly which criterion needs more. That is both the compliant arrangement and the better one, because a student who has made the final decisions can defend the work in a reflection session, and a student who has not cannot.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Al Mamourah

Al Mamourah's neighbours share its school runs and its evening constraints. These notes concern timing and school access rather than property, because timing is what decides whether a session actually happens.

Al Mamourah

City-area residential district near Al Qusaidat and the creek. Diploma students travel out to Al Nakheel or Al Hamra for school, so a realistic weekday session starts at five or later once the bus has returned.

Al Qusaidat

Immediately adjacent and on the same bus routes, which means the same evening window and usually the same school calendar. Siblings across the two areas frequently sit different boards.

Julphar

Shares the city-area school run. Families here commonly have one child in a Diploma school and another in an Indian-curriculum school, so two separate deadline calendars run in the same household.

Al Nakheel

Holds a substantial share of the emirate's private secondary capacity. A student living in Al Mamourah and schooled here loses close to an hour a day in travel, which is the hour a weekly session has to compete with.

Al Hamra Village

Coastal community roughly thirty minutes south and the emirate's main route into IB programmes. Diploma families in Al Mamourah are most often attached to this cluster, with the longest standard commute in RAK.

Mina Al Arab

Newer coastal development with a growing school-age population and limited local secondary provision, so mid-stage transfers are common and arrive with a half-finished set of internal deadlines.

Al Dhait

Large southern residential district where after-school activities rather than travel set the session timing. Saturday morning slots fill first here, which is worth knowing a term ahead.

Seih Al Uraibi

Inland district on the city's southern approaches. Families here deal with the same evening window as Al Mamourah and the same scarcity of local Higher Level specialists.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Al Mamourah

Ras Al Khaimah private schools serving Al Mamourah

The emirate's private provision is concentrated rather than spread, and a Diploma cohort in any one school is small. That is not a criticism; it is arithmetic, and it is why a second specialist voice on a Higher Level subject is more useful here than it would be in Dubai.

  • RAK Academy
  • Ras Al Khaimah Academy
  • Scholars Indian School
  • Indian School Ras Al Khaimah
  • Our Own English High School Ras Al Khaimah
  • Emirates National School - Ras Al Khaimah
  • Little Flower English School

Where RAK Diploma families compare and sometimes transfer

When a Higher Level subject is not offered locally, Al Mamourah families weigh these Dubai and Sharjah schools against a weekly commute or a move. They are named as market context; no relationship exists or is implied.

  • Dubai International Academy
  • GEMS Wellington International School
  • Repton School Dubai
  • Victoria International School of Sharjah
  • Australian International School Sharjah
  • Jumeirah College
  • Dubai English Speaking College

Named schools provide context on the Ras Al Khaimah and wider UAE education market; no affiliation, partnership or endorsement is held or implied.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

    Send the internal deadline list

Before anything else, ask your child's Diploma coordinator for every internal date in writing: Extended Essay drafts and reflections, Theory of Knowledge title and essay, and the six Internal Assessment deadlines. That list is what a plan is built from, and most families have never seen it in one place.

  2. 02

Name the subject, the level and the component

Chemistry Higher Level is not one problem. A weak Paper 2 and an investigation stuck at the design stage need different people and different work. Tell us the subject, the level, and which component is actually behind, then send the marked script or the current draft.

  3. 03

Free trial lesson on your own material

A real lesson rather than a consultation call, run on a question your child got wrong or a draft paragraph that is not working. No payment and no card are needed to book it, and you are welcome to watch. What you are judging is how the tutor handles being stuck.

  4. 04

    A plan written backwards

You get the sequence in writing, dated from your school's deadlines rather than from today: which weeks cover which topics, which sessions address which criterion, and when the block stops. Core-component blocks are planned to finish two weeks early by default.

  5. 05

Session notes tied to a deadline

Each note says what was covered, what was set, and which deadline the week's work belongs to. Over eighteen months that last detail is what keeps a long plan from quietly drifting, and it gives you something concrete to check rather than an impression to trust.

  6. 06

A clear answer when nobody is free

For a thinly taught Higher Level subject there may be no specialist available this month. You will be told so and given a date or an alternative plan. In a Diploma year a clear no is worth more than a quiet substitution that costs six weeks to discover.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The calendar is the plan

Every plan here is written back from your school's internal deadlines and the May session rather than forward from the day you enquire. That ordering is the whole difference between support that lands where it matters and a weekly slot that runs for two years without a target.

Core components treated as components

The Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge essay and six Internal Assessments carry marks and hard dates, and they are the part of the Diploma where a strong student can lose points to administration. They get their own blocks here rather than being squeezed into subject lessons.

Rates printed with their publisher

Every AED figure on this page names the survey or provider that published it and is presented as the market, not as our price. Three of six ranking pages in this market publish no price at all and two quote US dollars, which UAE families do not transact in.

A specialist, not the nearest available person

In an emirate where a Higher Level cohort can number a dozen students, matching by subject and level beats matching by distance. Delivering online is what makes that possible, and it is why the format is stated plainly instead of being discovered after payment.

No IB dates invented on this page

The IB's own site is the only authority for session and results dates, so none are published here. Cambridge and Pearson dates are cited with their sources, and the past ones keep their year because that is what makes them checkable.

A published boundary on assessed work

Teaching, criteria, exemplars and feedback on the student's own work. No writing or finishing of an Internal Assessment, Extended Essay or Theory of Knowledge essay, because the malpractice penalty falls on the candidate and the line belongs in public rather than in terms.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Al Mamourah: your questions answered

Will a tutor actually come to our villa in Al Mamourah?+

No. IB Gram does not offer home visits anywhere in the UAE; home visits are a service we run in India only. Every UAE lesson is one-to-one and live over video, timed to Gulf Standard Time. In-home tutoring does exist in the Ras Al Khaimah market at published rates of roughly AED 180-500 per hour including travel, against roughly AED 150-300 for a qualified online subject tutor. In this emirate the premium mainly narrows the pool of available teachers, which is the opposite of what a family paying extra expects.

Which internal Diploma deadlines should I be asking the school about?+

All of them, in writing, at the start of Year 12. The list should include the Extended Essay subject and supervisor allocation, the research question deadline, each draft deadline, the reflection session dates, the Theory of Knowledge title and essay deadlines, and the draft and final dates for all six Internal Assessments. Schools set these earlier than the board's own windows because they need time to mark and moderate. Once you have the list on one calendar, the weeks where deadlines bunch become visible months ahead.

When does the Extended Essay work actually need to start?+

Earlier than it feels reasonable to start. The subject and supervisor are usually allocated around eighteen months before the final papers, and the research question should be settled within a few months of that, because a question that is too broad produces a first draft nobody can rescue. The single most valuable session on the component happens before any writing, mapping the intended argument against four thousand words until the question is narrow enough to answer in that space properly.

How does Ramadan change a revision timetable in Ras Al Khaimah?+

School days shorten and the useful study window moves to the late evening, so sessions commonly shift to a post-Iftar slot. Because lessons are delivered online there is no travel to arrange around prayer times or the family meal. The practical adjustment is to move content-heavy teaching out of the Ramadan weeks and into the weeks either side, keeping lighter work inside them: timed paper sections, mark-scheme reading, a criteria check on a draft. Families who plan this a month ahead lose almost no sessions.

My child's mock result is far below the predicted grade. What now?+

Read the mock component by component rather than as a single number, because the pattern decides the plan. A strong Paper 1 beside a weak Paper 2 points at timing or algebraic rearrangement under pressure, which responds quickly. An even spread of low marks points at content coverage, which takes longer. The term before predicted grades are issued is the highest-leverage moment in the whole Diploma for a short focused block, because predictions rest on mock evidence rather than on potential.

Is fortnightly enough for a Higher Level subject across two years?+

For maintenance, usually yes. A fortnightly slot exists to stop a subject drifting between report cards, which is where most Diploma damage accumulates without anybody noticing. It is not enough to close a gap that already exists, and it is not enough in the final term, where the pattern should step up to weekly paper work. Families who run fortnightly from early in Year 12 generally buy fewer total sessions than families who start weekly in the last six months.

Can the tutor work to my child's own school deadlines rather than a generic plan?+

That is the default here, and it is why we ask for the internal deadline list before the first session. A plan written against your school's dates will put Extended Essay planning in the weeks your school wants a draft and investigation design in the weeks your school requires approval. A generic Diploma schedule ignores the fact that two Ras Al Khaimah schools running the same programme can set their internal dates months apart from each other.

Does a Higher Level cohort of twelve students matter to my child's chances?+

It does not change the grade boundaries, which are set externally, and it does not mean the teaching is weak. What it changes is the margin for specialism. In a cohort that size, one teacher may cover several Diploma courses, and the hardest Higher Level content gets whatever attention a crowded timetable allows. That is arithmetic rather than anybody's failing, and it is the clearest practical reason an online specialist adds something in a northern emirate that it would add less of in Dubai.

What exactly may a tutor do with an Internal Assessment draft?+

Explain each criterion, work through published exemplars, question whether the design or topic can carry the required depth, and read the student's own draft to say which criterion is under-served. What a tutor must not do is supply sentences, rewrite the argument, or edit a draft to a finished state. Submitting work that is not the student's own is malpractice and the penalty falls on the candidate. Blocks here finish two weeks before the internal deadline so the student makes the final decisions.

Do we need to worry about equivalency while the Diploma is still running?+

Start the documentary work early rather than in the term when every Diploma deadline lands at once, but do not treat it as a tutoring matter. Equivalency is a Ministry of Education process with its own requirements and timing, and no tutoring service performs it or guarantees an outcome from it. The published British-track rule asks for five accredited GCSE or IGCSE subjects at no less than grade E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education, plus one Advanced Level subject at E or two at Advanced Subsidiary Level.

How quickly can you match a Diploma specialist for Al Mamourah?+

For mathematics, the three sciences, English and economics, usually within a few days. For a thinly taught Higher Level subject it can take longer, and if nobody suitable is free you will be told that and offered a date rather than placed with somebody adjacent to the subject. In a Diploma year, six sessions spent discovering a mismatch are six weeks that do not come back, so a clear answer about availability is worth more than a fast one.

Can sessions run while we are travelling over the summer?+

Yes, and that is one of the practical advantages of delivering lessons over video. The session runs from wherever the family is, so a four-week trip does not become a four-week gap in a plan that has deadlines waiting at the other end. The one thing worth agreeing in advance is the time zone the sessions will run in, because a slot that works on Gulf Standard Time may land awkwardly elsewhere and an awkward slot quietly becomes a cancelled one.

Who is legally allowed to give private lessons in Ras Al Khaimah?+

Anyone holding the MoHRE private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, government and private-sector employees, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. Tutoring without the permit attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, and the ministry has published no amounts, so any figure quoted to you is invented.

Is it a good idea to pay my child's own Diploma teacher for extra lessons?+

It is the arrangement to avoid. The MoHRE permit carries a code of conduct that bars serving students affiliated with the tutor's own school, and ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff in Abu Dhabi prohibit paid private tutoring of students enrolled at their own school. Beyond the rules it is poor practice on its own terms: the person marking your child's Internal Assessment should not also be paid to prepare it. An independent specialist gives you a second, unconflicted read.

What should the last fortnight before the papers contain?+

Timed past papers, mark-scheme reading, and nothing new. If a content gap surfaces in that window it gets a note and a two-minute recap rather than a lesson, because reopening material late reliably costs more marks than it recovers in a tired student. Blocks here are designed to end two weeks before the first paper for exactly this reason, so the final fortnight belongs to the student rather than to anybody's timetable.

How do we tell whether the tuition is working?+

Compare a marked script with a marked script. A diagnostic paper at the start and a comparable paper eight sessions later, both marked against the published scheme, give you component-level movement instead of an impression. On a core component the measure is the criterion band rather than a paper mark. The session notes tell you what was set and whether it was done, and if the work was done and nothing has moved, the match is wrong and should change.

Get the deadline list, then build the plan

The most useful thing an Al Mamourah family can do this week costs nothing: ask your child's Diploma coordinator for every internal deadline in writing, in one list. Send it to us with the subject, the level and the component that is behind, and you will get a plan written backwards from those dates rather than forward from today. The trial lesson is free, runs on your child's own material, and you are welcome to watch it. Lessons are one-to-one and live over video on Gulf Standard Time, and we will tell you before you book if the specialist you need is not free this month.
