IB IGCSE Tutor near me in Sakamkam

People who search for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Sakamkam are usually at a crossing point: Year 11 finishing, a Diploma or A Level decision pending, and nobody local who can explain the gap between the two. This page covers that crossing, the Ministry of Education equivalency rules on both routes, and what the Arabic requirement adds to the week. Lessons are taught one-to-one over live video.

IB & IGCSE in Sakamkam

The crossing from Year 11 is the real problem here

A near-me search in Sakamkam looks like a question about distance and is usually a question about a transition. The pattern is consistent: a student is finishing Extended IGCSE, the family is weighing an IB Diploma against A Levels, and nobody within reach can explain what actually changes between the two in each subject. Fujairah's private-school sector is small and its local Diploma provision is limited, so the people who have taught both systems to the same student are rare on this side of the Hajar mountains. That is a supply problem, not a geography problem, and no amount of driving solves it.

Sakamkam is inland and north-west of Fujairah city, nearer the mountain edge, and the afternoon return from the coastal schools runs longer than the map suggests. The consequence for tutoring is timing: a session that waits on somebody else's journey drifts, and a weekly homework cycle collapses once the sessions stop landing where they were booked. An online slot at 17:30 is still 17:30 in February. That is a small practical argument, but over two years of Diploma deadlines it does more work than it sounds like.

IB Gram teaches Sakamkam students one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. It does not offer home visits in the UAE; that service runs only in India, and the same statement appears on all of the country pages this site publishes. The URL contains the phrase near me because that is what parents type, and the right response to it is a straight answer rather than a redirect buried in the eighth paragraph. There is a real in-home market here, priced on published figures at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour, and what it buys inland from this coast is a narrower subject list.

So this page is written around the crossing rather than around the neighbourhood. There is a subject-by-subject map of the gap between Extended IGCSE and Higher Level Diploma, which nobody in this market publishes in a structured form. There is the Ministry of Education equivalency picture with the British-track figures quoted because they are sourced and the IB figure omitted because it is not. There is what the Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies requirement adds to a UAE school week, which no competitor page researched for this market addresses at all. And there is an honest account of which subjects can be staffed and which cannot.

A note on dates before any of it. No IB session or results date appears on this page, because none could be verified from the International Baccalaureate's own site for this project. Diploma candidates in the UAE sit the May session; confirm every date through your child's coordinator. Cambridge and Pearson dates used elsewhere on this site are taken from those boards' own published guidance and are named by month rather than by year, so that the page stays true after a session has passed.

At a glance

  • Diploma: six subjects, 45 points maximum, 24 minimum, plus a three-point core bonus
  • Extended IGCSE to Higher Level is a real step, largest in mathematics
  • British-track equivalency: five IGCSE at E or grade 3, excluding Arabic and Islamic education
  • Federal rule: private schools must teach Arabic, social studies and Islamic studies
  • Fujairah private schools are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three routes a Sakamkam student can be on after Year 11, and one before it. The differences that matter are structural, and they decide what tutoring is for.

IGCSEAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

International GCSE at Extended or Higher tier

Eight or nine subjects assessed by terminal paper. Extended on Cambridge reaches A*; Core caps at C. Edexcel splits maths into Foundation and Higher tier. The grades matter twice: as a certificate in their own right, and as the prerequisite screen for whichever post-16 route follows.

For a Sakamkam family the prerequisite function is the one to watch. Diploma Higher Level subjects and A Level subjects both gate on IGCSE grades in the same discipline, usually at a B or better, and some schools gate mathematics more tightly than that. Ask the receiving school for its published entry requirements before Year 11 rather than after results.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

IB Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three Higher and three Standard, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS. Scored out of 45, with 24 the diploma minimum and up to three bonus points from the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge matrix. Internal assessment carries weight in every subject.

Because local Diploma provision in Fujairah is limited, this route often involves boarding, a weekly commute or a move to Sharjah or Dubai. Internally set Internal Assessment deadlines do not pause for any of those, which is the practical reason an online slot that survives a school change is worth more here than in a city with a dozen Diploma schools.

AS/A2Ages 16-19 · Years 12-13

AS and A Level

Three or four subjects taken deeper, with no compulsory core. Suits a student who is sharply stronger in some subjects than others or who already knows the degree they want. AS is cashed in at the end of Year 12 at some schools and not at others, which matters for the equivalency route.

The sourced equivalency rule names this stage precisely: one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. A student trimming to two AS subjects should check the current position through the Ministry of Education's own channel before committing to it.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme, where a school offers it

The IB alternative to IGCSE at this stage, assessed against four criteria per subject, each marked out of eight and converted to a 1-7 grade. The Personal Project in the final year is marked out of 24 across planning, applying skills and reflecting.

A Sakamkam student moving from the Middle Years Programme into the Diploma faces a different gap from an IGCSE student: less examination technique, more familiarity with criteria-based assessment. The first term of Diploma tutoring for such a student should be weighted towards timed paper practice rather than towards content.

Subject coverage

IB subjects we tutor

IB Diploma subjects first, framed by what changes from Extended IGCSE in the same discipline. That framing is the one a Year 11 family in Sakamkam actually needs.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

The largest step up from Extended IGCSE in the whole Diploma. Calculus arrives properly, proof becomes examinable, and Higher Level adds a third paper of extended-response problems worth twenty per cent. Students who relied on pattern recognition at IGCSE struggle first and hardest here.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

A gentler step from Extended in content but a real one in expectation: modelling questions require an interpretation in context rather than an answer, and statistics is taught at a depth IGCSE does not reach. Calculator technique is examinable in itself.

Physics

HL and SL

The content overlap with Extended IGCSE is larger than students expect; the difference is algebraic fluency and the expectation that answers carry uncertainty. Paper 1 at thirty-six per cent includes a data-analysis section that rewards practice on unfamiliar graphs.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Energetics and organic mechanisms are where Higher Level separates from Extended. The Internal Assessment at twenty per cent is a genuine investigation capped at 3,000 words, marked across research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation at six marks each.

Biology

HL and SL

The content load roughly doubles against Extended IGCSE and the command-term discipline tightens. Students who scored well at IGCSE by writing everything they knew lose marks in the Diploma for answering a different question from the one asked.

Economics

HL and SL

New to most students at sixteen, so there is no IGCSE gap to bridge unless they took 0455. The portfolio is three commentaries of no more than 800 words each on real published articles, and diagram accuracy decides more marks than the prose around it.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

A different subject from IGCSE English as a First Language rather than a harder version of it: the focus moves to textual analysis and global issues. The Individual Oral, worth thirty per cent at Standard Level, requires a global issue traced through two texts.

Business Management

HL and SL

Builds naturally on IGCSE Business Studies, with the pre-released case for the Higher Level paper as the main new demand. Ratio and break-even calculations remain the most reliable marks on the paper and the most commonly lost to arithmetic.

Computer Science

HL and SL

The solution-development Internal Assessment assesses product and documentation together, which catches strong programmers who have never been marked on a design process. The theory papers reach further into architecture and networks than IGCSE does.

Arabic B and Arabic ab initio

HL, SL and ab initio

Separate courses with distinct expectations, and placement errors are common. Sakamkam students arrive with more exposure than an international cohort elsewhere, because UAE private schools teach Arabic alongside the licensed curriculum from the earliest years.

IGCSE coverage

IGCSE subjects we tutor

The IGCSE side, listed by what each subject sets up for the next stage rather than by content alone. A grade is a certificate and a gate, and the gate is usually the part that matters more.

Mathematics (0580 / 0980; Edexcel 4MA1)

Core, Extended, Foundation, Higher

Extended or Higher tier is effectively a prerequisite for both Higher Level Diploma mathematics courses and for A Level Maths. Algebraic fluency built here is what determines whether the calculus in the Diploma lands or not.

Physics (0625; Edexcel 4PH1)

Core and Extended

Extended tier is the normal gate to Diploma Physics at either level. The Cambridge practical component at twenty per cent develops the method-writing habit the Diploma investigation then assesses formally.

Chemistry (0620; Edexcel 4CH1)

Core and Extended

Extended is the realistic entry point for Higher Level Chemistry. Mole work done properly here saves a term in the Diploma; mole work learned by procedure rather than by understanding costs one.

Biology (0610; Edexcel 4BI1)

Core and Extended

Content-heavy at both stages, so the habit that transfers is systematic retrieval rather than rereading. The explain-versus-describe distinction learned at Extended is the same distinction the Diploma papers test harder.

English as a First Language (0500; Edexcel 4EA1)

Core and Extended

Reading and writing rather than literature, which means a student can reach the Diploma without having been formally taught textual analysis. That gap is worth closing in the summer between the two stages.

Economics (0455; Edexcel 4EC1)

Core and Extended

Taking it at IGCSE removes most of the Diploma's early difficulty, because the diagram vocabulary is already in place. Students arriving at Diploma Economics without it spend the first term learning to draw.

Business Studies (0450; Edexcel 4BS1)

Core and Extended

The closest continuity of any pairing in this list: case-study technique and the main calculations carry straight across into Business Management. The insert still decides the answer at both stages.

Computer Science (0478; Edexcel 4CP0)

Core and Extended

Pseudocode marked on logic rather than syntax prepares a student for the Diploma's documentation demands better than a year of project work in a single language does.

Arabic (0508 first language / 0544 foreign language)

Core and Extended

Two separate qualifications with different papers, and students are sometimes entered for the wrong one. Neither counts towards the five subjects required for British-track Ministry of Education equivalency.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, all online and one-to-one, chosen according to where in the crossing your child currently sits.

A summer bridging block between Year 11 and Year 12

Six to ten sessions in the gap between IGCSE results and the start of the next programme, spent on the specific content the receiving course assumes and the previous one did not teach. In mathematics that is algebraic fluency and the start of calculus; in English it is textual analysis. The cheapest intervention in the whole crossing.

  • Targeted at one subject, chosen from the transition map
  • Finishes before term starts rather than running alongside it
  • Leaves the student ahead rather than catching up from week one

Weekly single-subject support during the programme

One session a week against one specification at one level, aligned to the school's scheme of work. The arrangement that produces marks most reliably, because nothing is being repaired under deadline pressure. Suited to the first Diploma year and to Year 10 at IGCSE.

  • Fixed weekday and time on Gulf Standard Time
  • Work set between sessions and marked before the next one
  • A written risk list by topic, kept current across terms

Core and coursework process coaching

For the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Internal Assessments, or for IGCSE coursework components. The work stays the student's own throughout. The tutor explains criteria in the board's wording, reads what the student wrote, and names the criterion it misses. A tutor does not write the Extended Essay or produce the coursework.

  • Word caps checked before drafting rather than after
  • Research questions narrowed to what available sources support
  • Feedback on the student's own text, never a rewrite

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Sakamkam

01

What a near-me search returns in Sakamkam, and what it should return

  • Filter on specification and level, not on driving distance
  • Market comparison: AED 150-300 online against AED 180-500 in-home
  • Fujairah appears in none of the competitor pages researched for this market
  • No tutor is sent to a Sakamkam address or anywhere else in the UAE

Searching for an IB IGCSE tutor near me in Sakamkam produces a list that is shorter than it looks, because most of the entries are advertising a subject rather than a specification. The useful filter is not distance. It is whether the person has taught the exact course your child sits — Higher Level Chemistry, not chemistry; Cambridge 0620 Extended, not IGCSE science — and whether they can say in one sentence where candidates on that course lose marks.

IB Gram's answer for Sakamkam is a specialist teaching one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. It does not offer home visits in the UAE; home visits are an India-only service. The published market rate for a travelling in-home tutor runs roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour against roughly AED 150 to 300 for a qualified online subject tutor, and inland from this coast the gap buys a shorter list of subjects rather than a better teacher.

There is a reason to be blunt about that rather than diplomatic. Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain appear nowhere in the competitor pages researched for this market. Those pages are written for Dubai and Abu Dhabi and reach the rest of the country by swapping a place name, which means a Sakamkam family reading them is looking at a supply picture that does not exist here. Saying so is more useful than repeating it.

What follows is the material a crossing actually requires: the gap between Extended IGCSE and Higher Level mapped per subject, the equivalency rules, the Arabic requirement that lengthens every UAE school week, an honest coverage table, and the Ramadan and holiday pattern that decides when revision can realistically happen.

02

From Extended IGCSE to Higher Level: the gap, subject by subject

One competitor in this market has a single subheading on the IGCSE-to-IB gap. Nobody has a structured, subject-by-subject version, which is strange, because it is the question every Year 11 family asks and the answer is different in every discipline. The gap is not a general increase in difficulty. It is a specific set of assumptions the Diploma makes about what a student can already do, and those assumptions vary enormously between mathematics and business management.

Mathematics is the largest step and the one to plan for first. Analysis and Approaches assumes algebraic fluency that Extended IGCSE develops but does not demand, introduces calculus properly, and makes proof examinable. A student who reached a strong Extended grade through pattern recognition rather than understanding will meet the limit of that approach within a term. Applications and Interpretation is gentler in content but demands interpretation in context, which is a writing skill as much as a mathematical one.

The sciences are closer than students expect on content and further apart on expectation. Diploma papers assume answers carry uncertainty, that graphs will be unfamiliar, and that a method can be written out. The Internal Assessment is the genuinely new thing: an independent investigation capped at 3,000 words, marked across research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation at six marks each, which is a research skill nobody taught at IGCSE.

In English the move is a change of subject rather than a step up. IGCSE English as a First Language is reading and writing; Diploma English A: Language and Literature is textual analysis and global issues, assessed partly through an Individual Oral. Business Management and Economics carry across most smoothly. The table maps each gap and the realistic amount of bridging work, which is usually measured in a handful of sessions rather than a term.

EXTENDED IGCSE TO IB HIGHER LEVEL — WHAT THE GAP ACTUALLY IS
SubjectWhat Extended coveredWhat the Diploma assumes you can doRealistic bridging work
Mathematics AAAlgebra, trigonometry, some graph workAlgebraic fluency, early calculus, proof as examinableEight to ten sessions over a summer, the largest gap on this list

BiologyA large content load, structured recallRoughly double the content and tighter command-term disciplineThree to four sessions on technique, then ordinary weekly support
English AReading and directed writingTextual analysis, global issues, an oral assessmentSix sessions; this is a change of subject, not a step up

03

Ministry of Education equivalency: what each route has to show

Equivalency is the process by which a school certificate earned on an international curriculum is recognised in the UAE, and it is almost entirely absent from this search result. Four of the ten query clusters researched for this market contain no mention of it at all, and one page that does mention it publishes the wrong subject count. For a Sakamkam family the practical importance is simple: the route chosen at sixteen determines which documents have to exist at eighteen.

On the British track the figures are published and can be stated. A student must show five accredited subjects in GCSE or IGCSE certificates with a grade of no less than E or grade 3, and Arabic and Islamic education are not included among those five. At the post-sixteen stage, proof is required of one accredited subject at Advanced Level with a grade of no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. A ranking competitor page states six IGCSE subjects; the sourced clarification said five.

On the American track the requirements are different in kind. English proficiency is shown through a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT. Mathematics requires at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying. That is a testing requirement rather than a subject-count requirement, and families moving between an American and a British school mid-stream sometimes discover it late.

On the IB track there is no figure on this page, deliberately. The published clarification this project could read states no IB points threshold, and no official source for one could be verified. Publishing an invented number would be worse than publishing nothing, because a parent might plan around it. Describe the process, cite the authority, and go to the Ministry of Education's own channel for your own case. Equivalency is not something a tutoring service performs, guarantees or accelerates, and tutoring is not a requirement for it.

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies alongside the curriculum

No competitor page researched for this market has a section on this, and Arabic appears in most of them only as a subject chip in a list. That is an odd omission, because the requirement shapes every UAE school week and it is the reason a Sakamkam student's timetable is fuller than a British student's on the same curriculum. The federal position is that private schools are not obliged to follow a specific curriculum beyond Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies, but must follow the ministry's general regulations.

The most detailed public guidance on how this works in practice comes from Dubai's authority, whose mandatory-subject document sets out requirements that had to be implemented by the start of the 2025-26 academic year. It is worth reading even for a Fujairah family, because it shows the structure: separate classes must be organised for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, and combined classes for both groups are strictly prohibited because the curriculum expectations and language of instruction differ.

The language rules are specific too. Standard Arabic is required as the main language of instruction for Islamic Education for Arabs and for Arabic as a first language; Arabic is the primary language for Social Studies for Arab students; and the school's licensed-curriculum language applies for non-Arabs in Islamic Education and in moral, social and cultural studies. Schools must also ensure that teachers of Islamic Education and Arabic hold the appropriate KHDA approval to teach those subjects, which is a concrete credential check a parent can ask about.

There is one rule that directly limits what any tutor can honestly offer. For the mandatory UAE subjects, the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the ministry is strictly prohibited. That means Arabic and Islamic Education tutoring works from the school's own material rather than from a provider's parallel scheme, and anyone offering a separate curriculum for those subjects is describing something the regulations do not permit. Instructional time, incidentally, is calculated on a forty-minute lesson unit, with schools able to vary lesson length provided the weekly total is met and a recommendation that no mandatory-subject lesson runs under twenty-five minutes.

Coverage and fallback: which subjects can be staffed from here

No competitor page researched across the ten query clusters discloses a coverage limit anywhere, and several conceal non-UAE delivery behind a phone number in another country. That silence is the most useful thing a parent could have had and the one thing nobody provides, so here is the honest version for a Sakamkam request.

Common subjects at common levels staff quickly: IGCSE mathematics, the three separate sciences at Core and Extended, English as a first language, and the most-entered Diploma subjects at Standard Level. Higher Level sciences and Higher Level mathematics staff reasonably. Minority Higher Level subjects — Computer Science, Visual Arts, Global Politics, a less common language — take longer, and in one specific evening slot may not be fillable at all.

What should happen then is a disclosure rather than a substitution. A realistic timeframe, an alternative slot, or a straight no. What should not happen is a generalist offered as a specialist, with the mismatch surfacing in week three of a Year 13 autumn. Supervision for the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge sits in a middle category, because the skill is process rather than subject and the pool is therefore wider than it looks.

Ask the question in those words of anyone you are considering, including us. If the answer is that everything is always available immediately in every subject at every level in any slot, in a market this size, then the answer itself is the information you needed.

06

Ramadan and the UAE year: when revision can realistically happen

Every revision plan assumes a normal week, and the UAE academic year contains several that are not. Ramadan shortens school days and shifts the family's whole rhythm, which means a 17:30 session that worked in January does not work in the fasting month. The practical answer is well established among families here: move the slot later, often to a post-Iftar time, and agree the change a week in advance so the work set between sessions still gets marked.

Because lessons are online, this is an adjustment rather than a disruption. Nothing depends on a tutor's drive home across Fujairah in the evening, and a session can shift by two hours without anybody's travel plans changing. That is a small advantage over a travelling arrangement, and it compounds over a Ramadan that falls close to a major examination series, which it periodically does.

The other calendar features worth planning around are the long summer break, which in the UAE is long enough for knowledge to decay noticeably in mathematics, and the midterm and winter holidays, which are the natural windows for a bridging block between IGCSE and the Diploma. Families often use the summer badly: either nothing at all, or a full programme that exhausts the student before term starts. A short, targeted block of six to ten sessions on a specific gap is more effective than either.

Travel is the last variable, and it is common in Fujairah households with family abroad. An online slot follows the student to another time zone with a one-off time adjustment. The thing that actually breaks a tutoring arrangement is not the travel; it is cancelling three weeks without rescheduling, so the homework cycle stops and the next session starts from a cold restart. Agreeing a reduced schedule beats pausing entirely.

07

What a tutor may touch, and what has to be refused

Both programmes in this page's title put assessed coursework in a student's hands, and both treat a breach as the student's problem. This search result contains a page selling completed Internal Assessment work at a fixed price. That is a malpractice trigger under the board's rules, and the candidate carries the finding rather than the seller.

The boundary is drawn by authorship. A tutor may teach content, explain criteria in the board's own wording, show how a comparable task is approached, read a draft the student wrote and name which criterion it misses, and teach the student to fix it themselves. A tutor may not write the Internal Assessment, draft the Extended Essay, or edit a piece to completion so the words become the tutor's. Knowing the hard limits is part of the job: 4,000 words on the Extended Essay, 1,600 on the Theory of Knowledge essay, 950 on the exhibition commentary, 3,000 on the sciences investigation, 800 per Economics commentary.

There is a second rule about materials. Subject guides, specifications, past papers, mark schemes and grade-boundary tables belong to the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge and Pearson. A provider distributing them as downloads is reproducing copyrighted material, and for unreleased papers it is a malpractice exposure too. Reference and link; do not redistribute. Everything factual here should be confirmed against the current official document.

And a plain statement of position, because the claim is common in this market and is the most dangerous sentence available to a page like this one. IB Gram is not approved, accredited, licensed or partnered by the International Baccalaureate, Cambridge International, Pearson, the Ministry of Education, the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, the Department of Education and Knowledge, the Sharjah Private Education Authority or the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. It holds no such relationship, claims none, and operates no premises anywhere in the UAE.

Nearby areas we cover around Sakamkam

Sakamkam and its neighbours, compared on when a child is home and what can be staffed locally. The answer turns out to be the same across all of them, which is the useful finding.

Sakamkam

Inland north-west of the city, nearer the mountains. The longest afternoon return of the inner districts, which puts realistic session starts around 17:30 and makes a fixed online slot more durable than an arrival window.

Fujairah City centre

The emirate's private-school capacity and widest local subject range, still narrow against Sharjah or Dubai. Students schooling here manage earlier session starts than Sakamkam families can.

Al Faseel

Coastal, near the corniche and the port, about fifteen minutes from the city schools. The timing difference against Sakamkam is the only practical distinction between the two for tutoring purposes.

Merashid

Settled residential district where demand runs to sciences and mathematics at the harder end, which is the band where local specialist supply is thinnest anywhere in the emirate.

Al Gurfa

South along the coast road, dispersed, often two school runs per household. Sessions settle into the 17:00 to 20:00 window as a rule rather than as an exception.

Dibba Al Fujairah

Around ninety minutes north with the fewest local secondary options in Fujairah. For a Diploma student there, online is the only route to a Higher Level specialist rather than one option among several.

Khor Fakkan

A Sharjah enclave on this coastline, so its schools answer to the Sharjah Private Education Authority rather than the federal Ministry of Education that supervises Fujairah's.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Say where in the crossing your child is

Mid-IGCSE, between Year 11 and Year 12, or inside the Diploma. The answer changes the whole shape of the work: bridging content, weekly subject support, or process coaching on the core. Sending that detail in the first message removes two sessions of discovery from the front of the engagement.

  2. 02

Send the specification and the level

For IGCSE, the syllabus code from the entry confirmation. For the Diploma, Higher or Standard Level and which mathematics course. These decide whether a match is possible at all, and they are the difference between a specialist and someone who knows the subject in general terms.

Hear the coverage answer before paying

Common subjects staff quickly; a minority Higher Level subject in one evening slot sometimes cannot be staffed. You get told which applies, with a timeframe or a straight no. That disclosure appears on no competitor page researched across the ten query clusters in this market.

  4. 04

Free trial lesson, used as a test of explanation

Listen for criteria, command terms and named papers rather than for enthusiasm. Ask what changes between Extended IGCSE and Higher Level in your child's subject; a specialist answers concretely. Your child's view on whether they could follow it is the other half of the signal and the more reliable half.

  5. 05

Diagnostic in the first fortnight, then a written risk list

A timed paper or a marked draft, returned with losses attributed by cause rather than listed by topic. Ask for the risk list in writing and ask for it again after a month. An item unchanged for three weeks is a conversation, not something to wait out until a report arrives.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

The crossing mapped per subject, not in general

The gap between Extended IGCSE and Higher Level is eight to ten sessions in mathematics and two or three in business management. One competitor has a single subheading on this; nobody has a structured version. A Year 11 family in Sakamkam needs the per-subject answer, because the planning differs completely.

Equivalency figures quoted only where they are sourced

The British-track and American-track numbers are published and appear here with their route. The IB points threshold is not published anywhere this project could verify, so it is absent. A ranking competitor states the wrong IGCSE subject count, and a parent planning around that number would plan wrongly.

The Arabic requirement treated as real

Arabic, Islamic Education and Social Studies run alongside every licensed curriculum in the UAE, which is why the school week is fuller here. No competitor page in any cluster covers this, and the content rule it carries limits what any tutor can honestly offer in those subjects.

Coverage disclosed instead of implied

If the subject, level and slot cannot be staffed, you hear it before paying. No page researched in this market discloses a coverage limit anywhere, and several route UAE parents to a number in another country without saying so. The limit is more useful information than the promise.

Ramadan and travel planned, not improvised

The slot moves later during Ramadan, often post-Iftar, agreed in advance so the work set between sessions still gets marked. Travel is a one-off time adjustment rather than a cancelled term. Because lessons are online, none of it depends on anybody's drive across Fujairah.

The authorship line drawn before work begins

Teaching, criteria, feedback on the student's own draft, and every word cap checked against the guide. Not writing, not completing, not supplying, and no redistribution of the boards' papers or mark schemes. One page in this search result sells finished Internal Assessments and the candidate carries that risk.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Sakamkam: your questions answered

Is there an IB or IGCSE tutor physically near Sakamkam?+

For common subjects at common levels, often yes. For Higher Level Diploma subjects, Extended Chemistry, Economics or Computer Science, usually not, because Fujairah's private-school sector is small and local Diploma provision is limited. Sakamkam, Al Faseel, Merashid and Al Gurfa draw on the same pool, so moving a few kilometres changes nothing. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time instead, which replaces the question of who lives nearby with who has taught the course.

How big is the jump from Extended IGCSE maths to Higher Level in the Diploma?+

It is the largest single step in the whole crossing. Analysis and Approaches assumes an algebraic fluency that Extended develops but does not demand, introduces calculus properly, and makes proof examinable. Students who reached a strong Extended grade through pattern recognition meet the limit of that approach within a term. Applications and Interpretation is gentler in content but requires written interpretation in context. Eight to ten bridging sessions over a summer is a realistic plan for the first and four to six for the second.

Why is there no IB points figure for equivalency on this page?+

Because no official source for one could be verified. The published clarification this project read states requirements for the British and American tracks and names no IB points threshold at all, and the International Baccalaureate's own site returns an error to automated checking. Publishing an invented number would be worse than publishing nothing, because a Sakamkam family might plan around it. The British-track figures are here because they are sourced. For an IB case, ask the Ministry of Education directly.

What does the Arabic requirement add to a Sakamkam student's week?+

Private schools in the UAE must teach Arabic language, social studies and Islamic studies alongside whichever curriculum they are licensed for, so the timetable is fuller than an equivalent British or IB week elsewhere. Classes are organised separately for Arabs and non-Arabs in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, with combined classes prohibited because the expectations and language of instruction differ. The practical effect on tutoring is later realistic session slots rather than any change to the international grades.

Can a tutor use their own Arabic or Islamic Education material?+

No, and this is a genuine regulatory limit rather than a preference. For the mandatory UAE subjects, the use of any different or additional content without prior permission from the ministry is strictly prohibited. That means tutoring in those subjects works from the school's own material and scheme rather than from a provider's parallel programme. Anyone offering a separate curriculum for Arabic or Islamic Education is describing something the regulations do not permit, which is worth knowing before paying for it.

Which post-16 route suits a Fujairah student better, the Diploma or A Levels?+

It depends on the student rather than on prestige. The Diploma is six subjects plus an Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and CAS, scored out of 45 with 24 as the minimum, and it suits a broadly strong, organised student. A Levels are three or four subjects taken deeper and suit a student who is sharply uneven or already certain of a degree. A student who struggles with deadlines finds the Diploma core punishing in a way subject tutoring cannot fix. Local Diploma capacity in Fujairah is limited, so either way a school move may be involved.

What should a summer bridging block between Year 11 and Year 12 contain?+

One subject, chosen from where the gap is largest, and six to ten sessions finishing before term starts rather than running alongside it. In mathematics that means algebraic fluency and the beginning of calculus. In English it means textual analysis, which IGCSE English as a First Language does not teach. In the sciences it means a planning session on the independent investigation. The aim is to start the programme slightly ahead rather than to catch up from the first week.

How does the Diploma's Internal Assessment differ from IGCSE coursework?+

It is genuinely independent research rather than a structured task. In the sciences it is capped at 3,000 words and marked across research design, data analysis, conclusion and evaluation at six marks each, for twenty-four in total, and it carries twenty per cent of the subject grade. Research design cannot be repaired once data is collected, which is why the planning conversation has to happen before the practical work. IGCSE coursework, where it exists at all, is more tightly specified by the board.

What happens to lessons during Ramadan for a family in Sakamkam?+

The slot usually moves later, often to a post-Iftar time, agreed a week in advance so the work set between sessions still gets marked rather than quietly dropped. Because lessons are online nothing depends on a tutor travelling across Fujairah in the evening, so a two-hour shift is an adjustment rather than a disruption. Shortened school days during the month also change what a student can absorb, so the sensible plan reduces session length rather than adding more of them.

Does equivalency require tutoring, or can a school handle it?+

Tutoring is not required for equivalency and nobody should suggest otherwise; it is a documentation process run by the authorities, not an academic hurdle a tutor clears. What tutoring can affect is the grades the documents will show, which is a different thing. The process itself is described by the Ministry of Education and handled through its own channel, and no tutoring provider performs, guarantees or accelerates it. Treat any claim to the contrary as a false-urgency pitch about a regulatory process.

Can we book a tutor for two subjects across both programmes at once?+

It is possible and usually unwise as a starting point. A student mid-crossing is already carrying an unfamiliar workload, and two new weekly sessions plus the work between them is a real load. Sequencing works better: start with the subject whose diagnostic shows the shortest, most specific loss list, bank the improvement, then move the hours. Two specialists on different evenings beats one tutor covering both, with one of them asked to keep sight of the deadline calendar.

Which Higher Level subjects are slowest to staff for Fujairah students?+

Computer Science, Visual Arts, Global Politics and the less common languages, followed by Higher Level sciences and mathematics which staff reasonably. The cause is the number of people who have taught that course recently rather than its difficulty. If your request is in the slower group, expect a timeframe rather than an assurance, and expect a straight no if a specific evening slot cannot be filled. A generalist offered as a specialist is the failure mode to avoid.

What does the Middle Years Programme prepare a student for differently?+

A student arriving at the Diploma from the Middle Years Programme is comfortable with criteria-based assessment and less practised at timed papers, which is the reverse of the IGCSE student's position. The first term of support should therefore be weighted towards examination technique rather than content. The programme assesses four criteria per subject, each out of eight, converted to a 1-7 grade, with a Personal Project in the final year marked out of 24 across planning, applying skills and reflecting.

What permit should a tutor working with a Sakamkam student be able to show me?+

Ask to see the private tuition work permit. It was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and is applied for through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation's own service with a stated two working days to complete. Eligible applicants include school-registered teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. Tutoring without one brings fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule is published, so no figure is quoted here.

Name the crossing point, then take one trial lesson

For a Sakamkam family the first useful message is short: which stage your child is at, which specification and level, and which subject worries you most. With that, the gap can be mapped and a plan built around it rather than around a guess. Then take a free trial lesson and ask the tutor what changes between Extended IGCSE and Higher Level in that subject. Lessons run one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, after the school day, with the slot moved later during Ramadan by agreement. Nobody is sent to a Sakamkam address, and the equivalency figures here appear only where a source exists.
