IGCSE Tutor near me in Jumeirah Village Circle

Families comparing options for an IGCSE tutor near me in Jumeirah Village Circle usually end up comparing neighbourhoods: here against JVT, Al Barsha South, Motor City. This page does that comparison properly and then explains why the answer comes out the same in all four. IB Gram teaches Jumeirah Village Circle students one-to-one over live video and sends no tutors to UAE addresses.

IB & IGCSE in Jumeirah Village Circle

Comparing neighbourhoods is the wrong comparison

Jumeirah Village Circle sits inside a ring of communities that look interchangeable on a map and feel quite different to live in. JVT is next door and quieter. Al Barsha South holds much of the nearby school provision. Motor City is eight to fifteen minutes along Hessa Street with a large British-curriculum campus. Families here compare all four constantly: for schools, for rent, for the commute, and for tutoring.

On three of those four, the comparison is genuinely informative. School provision differs. Commute times differ by twenty minutes or more at the edges. Session timing differs, because a student in Al Barsha South is home before a student travelling from Arabian Ranches 3. Those are real distinctions and this page sets them out in a table.

On tutoring quality, the comparison collapses, and it is worth understanding why. The supply of people who teach a specific IGCSE syllabus code to a specific tier is set at the level of the emirate, not the neighbourhood. There are not Cambridge 0580 specialists in Motor City and a different set in JVT; there is one small pool of people in Dubai who teach that code well, almost all employed full time, and they are distributed by where they happen to live rather than by any logic connected to your address. Moving from the Circle to Al Barsha South would change your school run and would not change which tutors can actually help.

So the comparison that matters is not between areas. It is between provider models — agency, international marketplace, independent freelance tutor, tuition centre group class, school-run support, and online one-to-one — because those differ enormously in price, accountability and what they actually deliver. Most tutoring pages compare themselves against an unnamed set of other platforms. This one compares the models, with the rates attributed to whoever published them.

There is a second comparison this page insists on, and it is the one that actually changes outcomes: Cambridge IGCSE against Pearson Edexcel International GCSE. They are different qualifications with different paper structures, different tier names, a different calculator position in mathematics and a different practical route in the sciences. A tutor working from the wrong scheme of work spends your money on topics your child will never be asked about, and that mistake is far more expensive than any difference between one of these neighbourhoods and the next.

IB Gram teaches Jumeirah Village Circle students one-to-one over live video at a fixed weekly time in Gulf Standard Time, matched by syllabus code. We do not send tutors to homes anywhere in the UAE; in-person home tutoring is a service we run only in India. Our fee follows a free trial lesson, because an honest number depends on a session count only a marked paper can establish.

At a glance

  • School provision, commute and session timing differ genuinely between these areas
  • Specialist tutor supply does not; it is an emirate-level pool, not a local one
  • The useful comparison is between provider models, not postcodes
  • Cambridge and Pearson are different qualifications needing different tutors
  • Lessons are live one-to-one video; no tutor visits a UAE address

Cambridge IGCSE

Four-digit codes — 0580 Mathematics, 0625 Physics, 0620 Chemistry, 0610 Biology, 0654 Co-ordinated Sciences, 0500 First Language English — with most mathematics and science subjects split into Core and Extended. The current mathematics model assesses through two papers of equal weight, one without a calculator and one with, which is a structural difference from Pearson that changes how a student should revise.

Cambridge runs a June series and a November series, and the February and March series is offered to India only, so it has no place in a UAE family's plan whichever of these communities they live in. Cambridge allocates every centre to one of six administrative zones and states it cannot accept responsibility for candidates who miss an exam after using the wrong zone's timetable, so the zone is a school-level question worth asking.

4MA1Ages 14-16 · Years 10-11

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE

Codes such as 4MA1 Mathematics A, 4PH1 Physics, 4CH1 Chemistry, 4BI1 Biology and 4EA1 English Language A, with Foundation covering grades 5 to 1 and Higher covering 9 to 4. A calculator is permitted on both mathematics papers. Pearson tutor supply across the whole of Dubai is thinner than Cambridge supply, which is the clearest example of a constraint that is emirate-wide rather than local.

Pearson Edexcel International GCSE examinations are available in May/June and in November. As a checkable illustration of lead times, the November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Work from the live official timetable rather than any restated date.

TIERSet during Year 10

The Core and Extended decision

Not a programme but the decision that matters more than any other. A Cambridge Core or Pearson Foundation entry caps the available grade at 5, which rules out most science A Level and IB Diploma Higher Level routes. It is set by the school on Year 10 evidence and is reviewable early in Year 11 if somebody asks before the final entry deadline.

This is identical in Jumeirah Village Circle, JVT, Al Barsha South and Motor City, which is rather the point of this page. What varies between those four is which school makes the decision and on what evidence, not the consequence. A five or six session block on higher-tier material produces written evidence a head of year can act on.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

Subject demand across these four communities is almost identical, which is itself informative. These are the IGCSE subjects we are asked for from all of them, with what each one actually turns on.

Mathematics

Cambridge 0580 · Pearson 4MA1

The most requested subject in every one of these areas. Losses are habitual rather than conceptual: unrounded intermediate values carried forward, and method lines omitted on four and five-mark questions where the steps are the marks.

Additional Mathematics

Cambridge 0606

Offered by some schools in this cluster and not others, which is a genuine area-level difference because it depends on the campus rather than the community. The best available bridge to A Level or Diploma Higher Level mathematics.

Physics

Cambridge 0625 · Pearson 4PH1

Electricity decides the grade everywhere. Series and parallel reasoning collapses on unfamiliar diagrams and formula rearrangement fails under time pressure, identically in JVC and Motor City.

Chemistry

Cambridge 0620 · Pearson 4CH1

Moles calculations carry weight beyond their apparent size, and the qualitative analysis ion tests are recall marks routinely left blank. One session on the tests is among the best returns in the qualification.

Biology

Cambridge 0610 · Pearson 4BI1

Marks turn on precision of language rather than understanding. Osmosis answers missing partially permeable membrane, enzyme answers saying the enzyme died. Fixable in a short block and the same everywhere.

Coordinated and Combined Science

Cambridge 0654 and 0653

Whether a school offers the double award, the single award or three separate sciences does vary across this cluster, so it is one of the few genuinely campus-dependent differences worth checking before a move.

English as a Second Language

Cambridge 0510 and 0511

Demand is high across all four communities because of the international intake. Writing marks hinge on text type and register: an essay produced where a report was asked for loses marks nobody has explained.

First Language English

Cambridge 0500 · Pearson 4EA1

The reading paper rewards short precise comment on selected evidence; long paraphrase scores badly. A habit, so earlier intervention is worth considerably more than later intervention.

Economics

Cambridge 0455

Diagrams must be labelled and then used in the prose. A correct diagram the answer never refers to earns almost nothing, which makes this a cheap fix once diagnosed.

Business Studies

Cambridge 0450

Application to the case organisation is the ceiling. Generic answers about customers and profit are why a confident student stalls at grade 6, and the correction is practice volume on stimulus material.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Having established that the area is not the variable, here are the three formats that genuinely are, in the order a Jumeirah Village Circle family should consider them.

Online one-to-one, matched by code

A fixed weekly slot with a tutor selected for your child's exact syllabus code and tier, with past-paper questions marked between sessions. The only format where the tutor pool is the whole set of people who teach that code rather than the subset willing to drive to a particular address.

  • Same tutor, same time in Gulf Standard Time, every week
  • Matched by code: 0580 or 4MA1, 0625 or 4PH1
  • Questions marked against the published scheme between sessions
  • Available identically in all four of these communities

In-home one-to-one, the market option

Practical in every one of these areas, because all four are central and reachable. Advertised in Dubai at roughly AED 180 to AED 500 an hour including travel. It buys presence, which matters for a younger child, and it narrows the tutor pool to whoever will make that journey at that hour.

  • Genuinely workable across this whole cluster
  • Market rate includes travel, itemised or not
  • Pool limited to those willing to drive to your door
  • Not a service IB Gram provides anywhere in the UAE

Tuition centre group class

Most visible in Motor City and Al Barsha of these four, and genuinely cheaper per student. It works for content sweeps before mocks where everyone in the group is on the same code and tier, and it does not address the individual habit costing marks on every paper.

  • Lower cost per student, lower attention per student
  • Works for revision coverage, not for individual diagnosis
  • Adds a journey for the family rather than the tutor
  • Worth asking what code and tier the group is actually sitting

01

What actually differs between these four communities

The honest comparison first, because the rest of the page argues that it does not matter much for tutoring and it genuinely matters for other things. School provision differs: Al Barsha South and JVT hold several campuses this whole cluster uses, Motor City has a large British-curriculum school inside it, and the Circle itself has provision but fewer secondary options. Whether a campus offers three separate sciences, the coordinated double award, or Additional Mathematics 0606 varies by school rather than by area, which is a reason to compare schools specifically.

Commute differs. From the Circle, JVT and Al Barsha South are five to fifteen minutes and Motor City is eight to fifteen, so a student lands home around 3.45pm. From Arabian Ranches 3, Mudon or Town Square the same school day ends after 4.30pm. That twenty to forty-five minute spread is the single largest practical difference in this comparison, and it changes which session slot works.

Housing type differs, and it has a small tutoring consequence. The Circle and Dubai Sports City are apartment-heavy; JVT, Arabian Ranches and Mudon are villa and townhouse communities. A student working at a kitchen table in a two-bedroom apartment with siblings present has a different environment from one with a study, and that affects whether a session needs headphones and a closed door more than it affects anything else.

What does not differ is the specialist pool, and the table makes the comparison explicit so you can see where the real distinctions sit.

Why the tutoring answer is the same in all four

  • Specialist supply is produced at emirate level by school staffing, not locally
  • No mechanism concentrates a syllabus code's specialists in one community
  • Local search results rank optimisation, not presence
  • Ask about school, tier, code and permit — checkable from anywhere

Think about how the supply of IGCSE specialists is actually produced. A school needs roughly one physics teacher per few hundred students, and only some of those have taught Extended-tier Cambridge 0625 rather than a national curriculum or Pearson 4PH1. Across the whole of Dubai that produces a small population of people who teach any particular code to any particular tier, and nearly all of them are employed full time at the schools that offer it.

Those people live wherever they live. There is no mechanism that concentrates Cambridge 0580 specialists in Motor City or Pearson 4CH1 specialists in JVT. So when a family compares tutoring between these four communities, they are comparing samples of the same emirate-wide pool, drawn by the accident of where individuals happen to rent. Moving house would change the school run, the rent and the commute, and would not change which tutors can teach your child's code.

This is also why the local search result is such a poor guide. A place-name query returns whoever optimised for that place name, and research across sixty-odd competitor pages in this market in October 2026 found agencies routing UAE parents to Indian phone numbers, one page displaying a Dubai footer address on an Abu Dhabi page, and several listing twenty-five or more schools as clients with no apparent relationship. Local presence in a search result is a claim, not a fact.

The consequence is straightforward. Stop comparing areas and start comparing provider models and syllabus-code coverage. Ask which school a tutor teaches at and at what tier, which code they work from, and whether they hold the MoHRE private tuition work permit. Those three answers are checkable from any of these four addresses and they are the same three answers that matter in all of them.

03

Comparing provider models instead

Here is the comparison worth making. Every tutoring page in this market compares itself favourably against an unnamed set of other platforms, which tells a parent nothing. A model-level comparison, with rates attributed to whoever published them, is more useful and more honest.

An agency matches you to a tutor and takes a margin, and quality depends entirely on how it vets. An international marketplace gives you volume and reviews and typically quotes in US dollars, a currency no Dubai family transacts in — two of the six best-ranking pages in this market do exactly that. An independent freelance tutor is often the best value and carries no replacement if the match is wrong or they leave mid-term. A tuition centre group class is cheaper per student and cannot diagnose an individual error. School-run support is free and limited to what the timetable allows. Online one-to-one widens the pool to everyone who teaches the code.

On rates: budget online tuition is advertised in Dubai from AED 45 to AED 150 an hour, with one platform listing from AED 33 to AED 52 and another from AED 45 to AED 65. Qualified online subject tutors sit at AED 150 to AED 300, with one agency listing IGCSE from AED 150. In-home visits including travel run AED 180 to AED 500, a rate survey putting the band at AED 180 to AED 350. Specialist provision is quoted at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, one UK agency at AED 270, and premium examiner-led work as high as AED 650. All read from the providers' own pages in October 2026.

The three questions that separate the models are not about price. Does somebody replace the tutor if the match is wrong, and at what cost? Is marking between sessions included or billed? And what happens to a prepaid block if the tutor leaves? Those answers are rarely published and they tell you more than any rate.

The board comparison, which does matter

Having argued that the area is the wrong variable, here is a comparison that is genuinely load-bearing and that most families cannot make. Cambridge IGCSE and Pearson Edexcel International GCSE are different qualifications with different paper structures, different tier names and, in some subjects, different content. A tutor working from the wrong scheme of work spends your money on topics your child will not be asked about.

Find the answer on the last report or the entry confirmation, where the syllabus code appears. Cambridge is four digits: 0580, 0625, 0620, 0610, 0654, 0500. Pearson combines a digit and letters: 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1, 4BI1, 4SD0, 4EA1. In Dubai it is entirely normal for one student to sit different subjects with different boards, because schools choose per department, so check every subject rather than assuming.

The structural differences worth knowing: the current Cambridge mathematics model assesses through two papers of equal weight, one without a calculator and one with, while Pearson permits a calculator on both of its mathematics papers. Tier names differ — Core and Extended against Foundation and Higher — with the same effective grade ceiling of 5 on the lower tier. Practical assessment in the sciences differs between a practical test and an alternative-to-practical paper depending on the entry.

And one supply difference that is emirate-wide rather than local: Pearson specialists are scarcer in Dubai than Cambridge specialists. That affects how early you need to book rather than what you pay, and it is identical whether you live in the Circle, JVT, Al Barsha South or Motor City.

05

The tier ceiling, identical in every one of these areas

If this page persuades a Jumeirah Village Circle parent of one thing, let it be this. A Cambridge Core entry caps the maximum available grade at 5, and a Pearson Foundation entry does the same. A student needing a 6 or 7 for science A Levels or IB Diploma Higher Level cannot reach it from the lower tier, in any community, at any rate, with any provider.

Schools in all four of these areas make the decision for the same defensible reason: a borderline candidate entered for the higher tier can score below its lowest available grade and come away with nothing, where the lower tier would have produced a secure 4 or 5. It is a risk judgement rather than administrative caution. But it is made on Year 10 evidence, and a student whose work changes in the first term of Year 11 can sometimes be moved if somebody asks before the final entry deadline.

A five or six session block on higher-tier material is the purchase that has leverage here, because it produces a clear answer and, more usefully, written evidence a head of year can act on. Both possible outcomes are worth having, and the one that says the gap is too wide saves considerably more money than the one that says it is not.

Where the tier cannot change, the options are to revise the post-16 plan or to enter the November series on the higher tier, potentially as a private candidate through an approved Dubai centre. Both are legitimate. Buying thirty weekly sessions against a ceiling is not, and we will say so before taking a booking rather than after the first invoice.

Would moving house help?

  • A move buys a shorter school run, which is worth real time
  • A move can buy different school provision, which may matter
  • A move does not change which specialists teach your child's code
  • Staying puts you at no disadvantage once travel is removed

Families in this cluster do move between these communities, and tutoring access is occasionally cited as a reason. It is worth being direct: it is not a good reason, and three other reasons are.

Moving from the Circle to Al Barsha South or JVT buys you a shorter school run, which is genuinely valuable — fifteen or twenty minutes twice a day is a real quantity of a teenager's week, and it moves a session slot earlier by half an hour. Moving to Dubai Hills Estate buys you access to a different set of schools, which may matter if the current campus does not offer three separate sciences or Additional Mathematics 0606. Moving away from the Dubai Sports City edge may reduce academy pull on the four-to-six window, though families usually keep the academy.

What a move does not buy is a better tutor. The specialist pool for your child's syllabus code is drawn from the whole emirate, and it is sampled by where individuals happen to live rather than by anything connected to your address. A family that moves for tutoring access has paid moving costs to change a variable that was never the constraint.

The same logic applies in reverse and is more useful: if you are staying, you are not disadvantaged. Whatever is available to a family in Al Barsha South is available to a family in the Circle once the travel requirement is removed, which is the entire argument for online delivery in a cluster like this one.

07

What it costs, with the hidden items named

Rates do not vary between these four communities, because they are set by format and tutor category. Published Dubai figures: budget online tuition from AED 45 to AED 150 an hour, qualified online subject tutors at AED 150 to AED 300, in-home visits including travel at AED 180 to AED 500, specialist IGCSE and IB provision at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, and premium named or examiner-led work as high as AED 650. One provider publishes AED 799 a month for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to AED 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions.

Monthly estimates for one weekly hour run AED 240 to AED 600 at the budget end, AED 600 to AED 1,200 in the middle, and AED 1,000 to AED 2,000 or more for specialist examination-year support. All of these were read from the providers' or surveys' own published pages in October 2026, and they describe the market rather than IB Gram, whose fee follows the free trial.

Now the items that do not appear in a comparison and should. Whether the figure is per hour or per lesson, because a ninety-minute lesson quoted as a session price is a different number. Whether marking a full past paper between sessions is included or billed. What notice is required to cancel without charge, which matters acutely in a cluster where academy schedules move. Whether a prepaid block expires. And what happens if the tutor leaves mid-block.

On VAT, we limit ourselves to stating whether our own quoted prices include it, because the tax treatment of tuition fees is a Federal Tax Authority matter and not something a tutoring page should assert. For wider context, KHDA confirmed in May 2026 that private school fees in Dubai would not rise for the 2026-27 academic year under an economic incentives package valued at AED 1.5 billion, so fees are the stable line this year across every one of these communities.

Who is permitted to tutor, in any of these communities

  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and valid for two years
  • A very low rate usually reflects tutor category rather than illegality
  • Never engage your child's own classroom teacher as a paid tutor
  • A KHDA training-institute permit covers premises, never an individual

The rules are federal and emirate-level, so they are identical across this whole comparison. Private tutoring in the UAE requires a private tuition work permit, introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and administered by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. It is granted free of charge for two years. MoHRE's own listing for issuance of a new work permit for private tutor licensing shows no fee and a two-working-day completion time, applied for through the MoHRE smart app, website or e-services system.

Eligible categories include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, university students, and school students aged 15 to 18. That last category explains much of the AED 45 to AED 150 band: a very low rate usually signals tutor category rather than illegality. Individuals tutoring without a permit are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws; no fine schedule has been published, so no figure can honestly be quoted and we do not quote one.

One boundary applies everywhere in this cluster. ADEK's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from giving paid private tuition to students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct carries a similar restriction. That is press-reported and should be verified against the current ADEK policy document before being treated as exact wording. The practical rule holds regardless: do not engage your child's own teacher privately.

And what nobody in any of these areas holds. A tutoring business with premises in Dubai needs an Educational Services Permit for a training institute from KHDA — which is a thing a tuition centre in Motor City may legitimately hold and an individual tutor cannot. IB Gram holds no such permit, operates no UAE office or centre, and is not accredited, licensed, approved by or partnered with KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, the Ministry of Education, MoHRE, Cambridge, Pearson or the IB.

09

Session timing, where the areas genuinely diverge

  • Inner three communities: home around 3.45pm; outer belt after 4.30pm
  • Adjacent academies close the early window regardless of commute
  • Weekday slots at 5.30pm without a club, 7pm to 8.15pm with one
  • Weekend mornings for whole timed papers; sessions move in Ramadan

This is the one operational area where the comparison pays off, because the commute really does differ. From Jumeirah Village Circle, JVT and Al Barsha South, students travel five to fifteen minutes and are home around 3.45pm. From Motor City it is eight to fifteen. From Arabian Ranches 3, Mudon or Town Square it is twenty to thirty-five minutes and home is after 4.30pm.

That ought to open an early slot for the inner three, and mostly it does not, because Dubai Sports City sits next to the Circle and its academies take students out between four and six. So the workable windows across this cluster are around 5.30pm for students without a club, 7pm to 8.15pm for those with one, and the later end of that range for anybody commuting from the outer belt.

Put the session after a first attempt at the school's work rather than before. A student who has tried the questions arrives with a specific sticking point, which a specialist resolves quickly; scheduled earlier, the session becomes supervised homework at a specialist rate. This holds in all four communities and is not an area-level question at all.

Weekend mornings are the most underused slot across this whole cluster and the right one for whole timed papers, which need ninety uninterrupted minutes. Online delivery is what keeps the arrangement robust: sessions move within the week when a mock or an academy fixture collides, shift post-Iftar during Ramadan, and stop cleanly at study leave, agreed on day one.

Where we tutor

The four communities, compared honestly

These are the areas a Jumeirah Village Circle family actually weighs against each other, plus the belt behind them. Note what differs and what does not.

Jumeirah Village Circle

Dense mid-rise apartments and townhouses with Circle Mall at the centre, bordered by Al Khail Road, Hessa Street and Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. Short school runs, and Dubai Sports City next door taking students out between four and six.

JVT

Immediately adjacent and lower-density, with school provision inside and beside it. The commute advantage over the Circle is five minutes at most; the tutor pool is identical.

Al Barsha South

Holds much of the school provision this whole cluster uses, including IB continuum campuses. Living here shortens the school run and changes nothing about which specialists are available.

Motor City

Eight to fifteen minutes along Hessa Street, with a large British-curriculum campus and an active tuition-centre market. The group-class option is more visible here than in the Circle.

Dubai Sports City

Adjacent to the Circle, apartment-heavy, with the academies that shape every family's afternoon in this cluster regardless of which of the four they live in.

Dubai Hills Estate

Ten to twenty minutes, with substantial recent school provision and higher rents. The nearest genuine upgrade in school choice rather than in tutor access.

Arabian Ranches

Fifteen to twenty-five minutes along Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. Established provision, longer afternoon leg, and the same specialist pool again.

Arabian Ranches 3 and Mudon

Twenty to thirty minutes out. Here the commute genuinely changes session timing, pushing families towards 7pm weekdays or weekend mornings.

Town Square

Twenty-five to thirty-five minutes along Al Qudra Road, the longest run in this comparison, which puts a Year 11 student home after 4.30pm.

Jumeirah Park

Ten to fifteen minutes towards the coast, British curriculum, and a frequent destination for students travelling out of the Circle for school.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Jumeirah Village Circle

Jumeirah Village Circle, JVT and Al Barsha South

The provision this whole comparison revolves around, five to fifteen minutes from the Circle. Whether a campus offers three separate sciences or the coordinated double award varies here, and that is a genuine reason to compare schools rather than areas.

  • JSS International School
  • Sunmarke School
  • Arcadia School
  • Dubai Heights Academy
  • Nord Anglia International School Dubai
  • Dwight School Dubai

Motor City, Dubai Hills and the Arabian Ranches belt

The second ring, ten to twenty-five minutes out, where the British-curriculum intake is heaviest at this age. Mock timetables across these campuses differ by up to a fortnight from the Circle-side schools, which affects when a block should start.

  • GEMS Metropole School, Motor City
  • Jumeirah English Speaking School, Arabian Ranches
  • GEMS FirstPoint School
  • Ranches Primary School
  • Dubai British School Jumeirah Park

Schools are named as context for families comparing these communities. IB Gram has no affiliation, endorsement or partnership with any of them, and none is a client.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Stop comparing areas, start comparing codes

Find the syllabus code and the tier on the last report or entry confirmation. 0580 or 4MA1, Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher. Those two facts determine the tutor, the past papers and the realistic ceiling, in every one of these communities equally.

  2. 02

    Ask the three model questions

Whoever you are considering: does somebody replace the tutor if the match is wrong and at what cost, is marking between sessions included or billed, and what happens to a prepaid block if the tutor leaves. Those answers are rarely published and tell you more than any hourly rate.

  3. 03

    Send one marked paper

A marked mock shows whether the losses are habitual or content, which decides whether this is a six-session technique block or a longer content arrangement. Any provider quoting a term of weekly tuition before seeing a marked paper is pricing a guess you will pay to correct.

  4. 04

Take the free trial on a lost question

You and your child meet the proposed code-specific tutor over live video. Hand them a question the mock lost. Afterwards you get their read, a session count and the fee, and you decide. No payment is required to reach that point and nothing is conditional on booking.

  5. 05

Set a review date against a school assessment

Book the block with a review tied to the next school assessment. If the named errors have gone, stop or move on. If they have not, we change the approach or the tutor. An unreviewed weekly slot is the most expensive habit in this market, in every community in this comparison.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

We tell you the area is not the variable

Specialist supply for a syllabus code is produced at emirate level by school staffing and sampled by where individuals happen to live. That is why a family in the Circle is not disadvantaged against one in Al Barsha South, and why moving house would not change which tutors can help.

Model comparison, not a straw man

Every page in this market compares itself favourably against unnamed other platforms. We compare the models a parent is actually choosing between — agency, marketplace, freelance, centre, school support, online one-to-one — with rates credited to whoever published them and the research date stated.

Matched by syllabus code

Cambridge and Pearson differ in paper structure, tier names, calculator position and practical route. We staff by code, and we will tell you that Pearson supply across Dubai is thinner, which affects how early to book rather than what you pay.

We name the tier ceiling before taking a booking

A Core or Foundation entry caps the grade at 5 in every one of these communities. If the plan needs a 7, the leverage is a five-session evidence block and a conversation with the school, or a November entry on the higher tier — not thirty sessions against a ceiling.

Online delivery, stated before booking

Lessons are live one-to-one video in Gulf Standard Time. IB Gram makes no home visits in the UAE; in-person home tutoring exists only in our India service. You read that here rather than after an invoice, and no UAE enquiry is routed to a non-UAE number.

Hidden items named, no invented data

We name the things a rate comparison usually omits: per hour or per lesson, marking included or billed, cancellation notice, block expiry, tutor replacement. No guaranteed grades, no satisfaction statistics without a sample size and method, and no self-asserted ratings.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Jumeirah Village Circle: your questions answered

Is it easier to find an IGCSE tutor in Jumeirah Village Circle or in JVT?+

Neither, and the reason is structural. The supply of people who teach a specific syllabus code to a specific tier is produced at the level of the emirate by school staffing, and those people live wherever they happen to live. There is no mechanism concentrating Cambridge 0580 specialists in one community and Pearson 4PH1 specialists in another. What differs between the Circle and JVT is the school run by about five minutes and the housing type. The tutor pool is the same sample of the same population.

Would moving to Al Barsha South improve our tutoring options?+

No, though it would improve two other things. A move there shortens the school run by fifteen or twenty minutes twice a day, which is a real quantity of a teenager's week and moves a session slot earlier by about half an hour. It may also give access to different school provision, which matters if the current campus does not offer three separate sciences or Additional Mathematics 0606. What it does not change is which specialists can teach your child's syllabus code, because that pool is emirate-wide.

Which provider model actually suits an IGCSE student best?+

It depends on the problem rather than the postcode. Online one-to-one matched by syllabus code gives access to the whole specialist pool, which matters most for Extended-tier sciences and Pearson codes. An independent freelance tutor is often the best value and carries no replacement if the match fails. A tuition centre group class is cheaper per student and cannot diagnose an individual habit. School-run support is included in fees and limited by the timetable. Ask each one who replaces the tutor if the match is wrong.

How do I tell whether my child sits Cambridge or Pearson?+

Look for the syllabus code on the last school report or the examination entry confirmation. Cambridge codes are four digits — 0580, 0625, 0620, 0610, 0654, 0500. Pearson codes combine a digit and letters — 4MA1, 4PH1, 4CH1, 4BI1, 4SD0, 4EA1. In Dubai it is entirely normal for one student to sit different subjects with different boards, because schools choose per department, so check each subject rather than assuming. Past-paper material does not transfer between them, which is why this is the first question.

Does Cambridge really have a non-calculator maths paper and Pearson not?+

The current Cambridge IGCSE Mathematics model assesses through two papers of equal weight, one taken without a calculator and one with, at both tiers. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics A permits a calculator on both of its papers. Confirm the exact structure for your child's cohort with the school, since models are periodically revised. The revision consequence is substantial: a Cambridge candidate needs deliberate non-calculator drilling for half the available marks, while a Pearson candidate's time is better spent on problem-solving volume.

Are tutoring rates different in Motor City than in the Circle?+

No. Rates are set by format and tutor category rather than by community. Published Dubai figures are budget online tuition from AED 45 to AED 150 an hour, qualified online subject tutors at AED 150 to AED 300, in-home visits including travel at AED 180 to AED 500, specialist provision at AED 200 to AED 450 and above, and premium examiner-led work as high as AED 650. What is more visible in Motor City is the tuition-centre group option, which is cheaper per student. Market rates researched October 2026.

What should a rate comparison include that it usually leaves out?+

Five things. Whether the figure is per hour or per lesson, because a ninety-minute lesson quoted as a session price is a different number. Whether marking a full past paper between sessions is included or billed. What notice is required to cancel without charge, which matters in a cluster where academy schedules shift. Whether a prepaid block expires. And what happens if the tutor leaves mid-block. These are rarely published and they change the real cost more than the headline rate does.

Is a tuition centre group class worth considering here?+

For content sweeps before mocks, yes, provided everyone in the group is on the same syllabus code and tier — worth asking, because centres do mix them. Cost per student falls and attention per student falls with it, so it does not address the individual habit costing marks on every paper, which is what most IGCSE students actually need. It also adds a journey for your family rather than removing one for the tutor, which in this cluster means an extra twenty minutes each way.

Does the tier ceiling differ between these communities?+

Not at all, which is one of the cleaner illustrations of this page's argument. A Cambridge Core entry caps the maximum grade at 5 and a Pearson Foundation entry does the same, in Jumeirah Village Circle, JVT, Al Barsha South, Motor City and everywhere else. What varies is which school makes the decision and on what evidence, not the consequence. A five or six session block on higher-tier material produces written evidence a head of year can act on, and that works identically from any of these addresses.

My child is in an apartment with siblings around. Does that affect online lessons?+

It affects the setup rather than the outcome. The Circle and Dubai Sports City are apartment-heavy while JVT and the Ranches communities are villa and townhouse, so a student here is more likely to be working at a shared table. Headphones and a closed door solve most of it, and a consistent place to sit matters more than the size of the room. What genuinely helps is the session being placed after the first attempt at homework, so the time is spent on a specific sticking point rather than on settling.

Why do local search results look so different from this answer?+

Because a place-name query ranks whoever optimised for that place name. Research across sixty-odd competitor pages in this market in October 2026 found agencies routing UAE parents to Indian phone numbers, one page displaying a Dubai footer address on an Abu Dhabi page, and several listing twenty-five or more schools as clients with no apparent relationship. Local presence in a result is a claim that costs nothing to make and is almost impossible to check. A tutor's school, tier and syllabus code are checkable; a pin on a map is not.

When should a session run for a student in this cluster?+

Around 5.30pm for students without a club and 7pm to 8.15pm for those with one, with the later end for anybody commuting from Arabian Ranches 3, Mudon or Town Square. Students in the Circle, JVT, Al Barsha South and Motor City are generally home by 3.45pm, which looks like it should open an earlier slot, but Dubai Sports City is adjacent and its academies take students out between four and six. Weekend mornings are the right slot for whole timed papers.

If we are already using a school's own support, do we need a tutor?+

Often not, and it is worth exhausting first because it is included in fees and the teacher knows both the student and the scheme of work. Its limits are structural rather than qualitative: it runs on the school timetable, it is usually small-group, and the teacher cannot give an individual student a marked past paper every week. The sensible test is whether school support has already addressed the specific habit a marked paper reveals. If it has not after a term, a short targeted block is the next step.

What if no tutor is free for my child's code and tier?+

You get the realistic wait rather than somebody who teaches the other board. Supply is thinnest for Pearson science codes, Computer Science and Additional Mathematics 0606, and tightest in the eight weeks before the June series — and all of that is true identically in every community in this comparison. In the meantime we can often run a useful adjacent block, such as practical-paper technique or a marking session on the mock. Where the available tutor is based outside the UAE, we say so before any payment.

Compare the model and the code, not the community

If you are weighing Jumeirah Village Circle against JVT, Al Barsha South or Motor City for tutoring, the comparison will not resolve, because the specialist pool for your child's syllabus code is drawn from the whole emirate and sampled at random by where people live. Compare the provider models instead, and get the code and the tier right. Send us those two facts and one marked paper, and we will propose a code-specific specialist you can test in a free trial lesson over live video. No home visits in the UAE, no promised grades, every figure attributed.
