IGCSE Science Tutor in Living Legends

An IGCSE science tutor in Living Legends faces an arithmetic problem before a teaching one: three subjects, a long journey home and one usable evening. There is no secondary school inside this community, so students arrive late. IB Gram teaches one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time and plans the rotation rather than splitting an hour three ways.

  • One science at a time, rotated on evidence rather than habit
  • The written practical block serves all three subjects at once
  • Sessions placed after the real arrival-home time

IB & IGCSE in Living Legends

Three sciences and one usable evening

A family taking three separate sciences at International GCSE has three times the content, three sets of command-term habits and three sets of practical conventions to learn, inside the same week as everybody else. In Living Legends that week is shorter than most, because there is no secondary school inside the community. Students travel out, most often to Al Barsha South, Dubai Hills Estate or the Al Khail Road corridor, and arrive home between four and half past four. By the time they have eaten, one usable evening slot remains.

That produces the central planning question, and most families answer it wrongly. Faced with three subjects and one slot, the instinct is to divide the hour: twenty minutes of biology, twenty of chemistry, twenty of physics. It feels fair and it produces recognition rather than fluency, because twenty minutes is enough to revisit a topic and not enough to fix anything. The alternative, which works, is rotation: one science at a time, concentrated, reviewed every six sessions and changed when the evidence says so.

There is one genuine exception to that rule, and it is the most valuable thing on this page. The written practical paper skills, identifying variables, criticising a method, processing data, assessing reliability and suggesting improvements, are examined across all three sciences and are largely transferable between them. A single block on those serves biology, chemistry and physics simultaneously. For a family with one slot and three subjects, that is the only purchase that genuinely multiplies.

Scheduling has a second layer here. Dubai Sports City sits immediately next door, and many households in Living Legends have children in academy programmes training between five and seven on several weekdays. Where that applies, the weekday evening is effectively gone and the weekend morning becomes the serious window. Add the mandatory UAE subjects, which Dubai private schools must teach alongside the licensed curriculum with instructional time calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit, and the taught week is fuller than a science option block suggests.

IB Gram removes travel from the arrangement so the remaining hours can be used properly. Lessons run one-to-one over live video, so a session starts minutes after arrival, consecutive slots cost nothing extra, and a weekend block can be used without anybody rearranging a car. Home visits are a service we operate only in India, so nobody is sent to a Living Legends address. What follows is the scheduling detail, the rotation logic, the shared practical block, and what a three-science plan costs. Taken in that order it produces a plan a family can still run in February, which is more than can be said for the three-sessions-a-week arrangement most households start with in September and abandon by half term.

At a glance

  • Three separate sciences means three sets of conventions, not one subject in triplicate
  • Splitting one hour three ways produces recognition rather than fluency
  • The written practical block is the one purchase that serves all three subjects
  • Academy training next door removes the weekday evening for many households
  • Lessons are delivered over live video, never at a UAE address
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Four routes cover nearly every science enquiry from this community, and the route determines how much there is to schedule in the first place.

SEPAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Three separate sciences

Biology, Chemistry and Physics as individual International GCSE subjects, each with its own papers and grade. The fullest content load and the standard route toward two or three sciences post-16. Three subjects also means three sets of command-term habits and three sets of practical conventions, which is what makes the scheduling hard rather than simply busy.

Students from this community heading toward IB Higher Level or A Level sciences are usually on this route, and they are the ones for whom rotation planning matters most. One slot divided three ways is the default arrangement here and the least effective one.

COORDAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Coordinated Sciences (double award)

All three sciences in one course carrying a double award, Cambridge code 0654, with content reduced in each. The reductions are not uniform across the three sciences, so the specification matters. The commonest error is revising from separate-science material and spending hours on topics removed from the award.

A large share of families in this area are on this route without being certain of it, because schools describe it inconsistently in reports. Confirming it with the examinations officer before booking tuition is the cheapest piece of planning available and takes one email.

COMBAges 14-16 · Years 10-11

Combined Science (single award)

All three sciences in one course carrying a single award, Cambridge code 0653, with content reduced further again. Appropriate where a student needs a broad science qualification rather than a route into science at sixteen. Scope discipline is where the efficiency comes from on this route.

For Ministry of Education equivalency on the British track, five accredited International GCSE subjects at no less than E or grade 3 are required, with Arabic and Islamic education excluded from that count. How a single or double award counts toward that total is a question for the attestation authority rather than a tutoring page.

POST16Ages 16-18 · Years 12-13

Post-16 science routes

A Level or IB Diploma sciences, with entry constrained by the International GCSE route and tier. Separate sciences at Extended or Higher tier are the comfortable foundation; a combined single award is usually not sufficient for a demanding post-16 science. That constraint is set at fourteen and discovered at sixteen.

Families here with a medicine or engineering ambition should check it in Year 9. Published entry requirements for the intended post-16 programme are the document to read, and reading them costs nothing and prevents an expensive surprise.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

In a rotation plan, each science needs its own diagnosis. These notes name where the marks go in each and how much concentration the work requires, which is what decides the slot.

Biology: transport and exchange

All routes, depth varies

Diffusion, osmosis, circulation and gas exchange. Content-heavy and vocabulary-dependent, with marks lost to answer structure on long questions rather than to recall. Tolerates a tired slot better than the physical sciences, which makes it useful after training.

Biology: genetics and inheritance

All routes, depth varies

Punnett squares, variation and selection. Marks go missing on genetic diagrams that omit gametes or parental genotypes, which is a presentation habit rather than a knowledge gap and closes in two or three sessions.

Chemistry: moles and stoichiometry

Extended and Higher mainly

Mass, moles, concentration and limiting reagents. The quantitative foundation the rest of chemistry rests on, so a gap resurfaces in electrolysis, energetics and titration questions. Needs a sharp hour and four or five sessions.

Chemistry: electrolysis and reactivity

All routes, depth varies

Half equations, products at each electrode and reactivity reasoning. Half equations unbalanced for charge are the standard loss, along with equations that balance but omit the state symbols the markscheme requires.

Chemistry: organic and rates

Extended and Higher mainly

Homologous series, functional groups and rate experiments. Students describe a rate change without reference to collision frequency or activation energy, which is precisely what the explanation marks reward.

Physics: electricity and circuits

All routes, depth varies

Current, potential difference, resistance and circuit analysis. Jointly with forces this carries the largest share of physics marks, and losses come from circuits worked from the formula sheet rather than redrawn properly. Needs a reasonably sharp hour.

Physics: forces and motion

All routes, depth varies

Motion graphs, Newton's laws and moments. Taught early and depended on afterwards. The reliable loss is a question attempted without the diagram that would have made it straightforward, which is a draw-first habit.

Physics: waves, energy and radioactivity

All routes, depth varies

Reflection and refraction, energy transfer and decay. Light on calculation and heavy on precise description, so it rewards organised notes and exact vocabulary and is the best physics topic for a depleted slot.

Practical skills on paper

All routes, both boards, all three sciences

Variables, method criticism, scale reading, data processing, reliability and improvement. The one block that transfers across all three sciences, and the most reliably recoverable marks in the qualification because almost nobody teaches it explicitly.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats, designed around the fact that a three-science family has fewer hours than subjects.

Rotation: one science at a time

A weekly slot concentrated on whichever science is currently losing the most marks, reviewed every six sessions and rotated when the evidence changes. This outperforms splitting an hour three ways, because a full session is long enough to close something while twenty minutes is long enough only to revisit it.

  • Award, board and codes confirmed before the first paid hour
  • Diagnosis repeated every six sessions to decide rotation
  • Problem sets sized for a school night after a commute
  • Short written note to the parent after each session

The shared practical block

Four to six sessions on the written practical skills examined across all three sciences: variables, method criticism, data processing, reliability and improvement. Because the technique transfers, one block improves biology, chemistry and physics together, which is the only multiplying purchase available to a three-science family.

  • Taught as transferable technique rather than per subject
  • Flawed methods analysed, which is the paper's own format
  • The student's own school practical data processed properly
  • Defined number of sessions with a stated endpoint

Weekend double slot

Two consecutive sessions on a weekend morning, covering two sciences with two specialists, for households whose weekday evenings are taken by training. No travel, no gate, and no gap between the slots, which makes it a practical answer rather than a compromise.

  • Two subjects, two specialists, back to back
  • Long enough for full timed papers in each
  • Suits academy households in Sports City
  • No second travel premium, because nothing travels

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Living Legends

01

The scheduling arithmetic: three subjects, one evening

Start with what the week actually leaves. A Year 11 student from this community commuting to Al Barsha South or the Al Khail corridor is home between four and half past four, needs thirty to forty minutes before they can concentrate, and has school homework across every subject plus the mandatory UAE subjects. That leaves one reliable weekday evening study slot and, for most households, one weekend morning. Three sciences do not fit into that by division.

The instinctive response is to split: twenty minutes per subject. It is the most common arrangement in this area and the least effective, for a reason worth stating precisely. Twenty minutes is enough to revisit a topic and remind a student of something they half knew. It is not enough to work through a multi-step chemistry calculation, diagnose why a physics circuit question went wrong, or restructure a six-mark biology answer and have the student rewrite it. Those take the better part of a session each, and without them nothing changes.

Rotation works instead. Pick the science currently losing the most marks, give it the whole slot for six sessions, measure against the same question types, and then decide whether to continue or move. Over a Year 11 that produces three or four concentrated runs rather than ninety fragmented ones, and the student can feel the difference by the second block. It also makes the spend legible, because each block has a start, an end and a result.

The one place rotation does not apply is the shared practical block, because that technique transfers across all three sciences. Scheduling it early means every subsequent block starts from a higher base. The table below sets out a rotation plan across a Year 11 for a three-science student in this community.

02

The journey, and what it leaves for science homework

It is worth doing the arithmetic rather than assuming it, because the result changes what a parent should book. There is no secondary school inside Living Legends, so the journey is a given rather than a choice. School finishes between half past two and half past three across Dubai's private sector. A journey to Al Barsha South or Dubai Hills runs twenty to thirty minutes in free traffic and longer on a bus that serves several communities, because the route rather than the distance sets the time.

Home between four and half past four, then. Thirty to forty minutes to eat and stop being a passenger. That puts the start of usable study time at around five, and a three-science student has school homework in all three subjects plus everything else. A tutoring session placed at five competes with the homework rather than supporting it; a session at six works, and leaves the earlier hour for the school's own tasks.

Then the evening has to absorb the mandatory UAE subjects. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are compulsory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with separate classes required for Arab and non-Arab students, and KHDA calculates instructional time on a 40-minute lesson unit while advising that no mandatory lesson runs shorter than 25 minutes. The homework that follows is real, and a science plan that ignores it is planning for a week the student does not have.

For academy households next door in Sports City the calculation is different again: training occupies five until seven on several weekdays, so the weekday science slot either sits immediately after school, before training, or it does not exist. In those households the weekend double slot is not an alternative arrangement but the main one, and recognising that in September avoids three months of cancelled sessions.

Which science belongs in a tired hour

Not all science work needs the same concentration, and knowing the difference lets a family use a depleted slot productively instead of writing it off. This matters more for a three-science student than for anyone else, because they have more subjects than good hours.

Biology tolerates tiredness best. Much of the work is vocabulary, structured recall and answer organisation, all of which can be done with a tutor guiding rather than the student generating. Restructuring a six-mark answer about gas exchange is a worthwhile use of a Thursday evening after training. So is working through model answers on genetics and tightening the language.

Physics is the least forgiving at the calculation end and among the most forgiving at the descriptive end, which makes it two subjects for scheduling purposes. Circuit analysis and forces problems need a reasonably sharp hour. Waves, energy and radioactivity are description-heavy and precision-dependent rather than calculation-heavy, which makes them perfectly reasonable in a tired slot.

Chemistry sits in the middle and divides sharply. Moles and stoichiometry need concentration, because they are multi-step arithmetic where one slip invalidates the rest. Reactivity trends, electrolysis products and the vocabulary of rates are more descriptive and survive a later hour. The practical consequence is simple: a rotation plan should place the quantitative chemistry and the physics calculations in the best window available, and use the depleted window for biology and for the descriptive parts of the other two. Doing that costs nothing and recovers an hour a week that most families write off entirely.

04

The practical block that serves all three subjects

This is the most useful paragraph on the page for a three-science family. In the main International GCSE science routes, practical skills are examined through written questions about experimental method rather than through a performed experiment marked on the day. Candidates identify independent, dependent and controlled variables, criticise a given method, read an instrument scale, process data into a table, plot a graph, assess reliability and suggest a specific improvement.

The decisive point is that those skills are substantially the same in biology, chemistry and physics. The context changes and the reasoning does not. A student who learns to name a controlled variable precisely, to spot that a method has no repeats, to plot with sensible axes and to write an evaluation that names a specific error and its specific effect, carries that into all three papers. One block of four to six sessions therefore improves three subjects, which is the only purchase in this market that genuinely multiplies.

It is also the most commonly untaught area in the qualification, and not through any failure by schools. Laboratory time is limited and is spent on apparatus, procedure and safety, with the data treatment set as homework and rarely taught explicitly. The result is a widespread gap that is both high-value and procedural, which is the ideal combination for tutoring.

And it suits online delivery particularly well, which matters in a community where a visiting tutor is expensive and loses minutes at the gate. Both people annotate the same data table and graph in real time. A tutor can display a deliberately flawed method and ask what is wrong with it, which is the format the paper itself uses. The most valuable single session is one where the student brings their own messy data from a school practical in any of the three sciences and watches it processed properly. The laboratory work stays with the school, which has the equipment and the technician.

05

Mocks, Ramadan and the series: planning three subjects around the calendar

A three-science student meets the calendar three times over, because mock periods, internal assessments and the series itself hit all three subjects at once. Planning around that is the difference between a rotation that holds and one that collapses in February.

The series first, because the rule for a UAE page is firm. Cambridge International runs International GCSE in a June series and a November series; the February and March series is offered to India only, so any page quoting a spring window is handing parents a date they cannot use. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. Backward-looking anchors can be checked: Pearson's November 2026 final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026.

Mock periods are the local hazard. Schools typically run them in one block, which means all three sciences are examined within days of each other and tutoring capacity should be planned to pause rather than intensify. A family that books extra sessions during mocks is buying hours the student has no room to use. The weeks immediately after mocks, by contrast, are the single most productive period in the year, because there is marked evidence across all three subjects and a diagnosis can be made properly rather than guessed.

Ramadan shortens school days across the Emirates and moves energy to the evening. Sessions typically shift later, often after Iftar, and shorten while holding frequency. For a three-science rotation that argues for using the Ramadan weeks on the description-heavy material, biology vocabulary, waves and radioactivity, reactivity trends, and front-loading the quantitative work before the month begins. Non-fasting students in the same household are affected too, since the shortened school day changes the week's rhythm for everyone.

What a three-science plan costs

Three subjects is the point at which tutoring budgets break, so the arithmetic deserves stating plainly. Every figure below names the provider or source that published it, which matters in a market where three of the six most visible pages publish no price at all and two quote in US dollars.

Budget online provision runs AED 45 to 150 an hour, with EdFlik advertising from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. Qualified online subject tutors sit at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing International GCSE from AED 150. Specialist International GCSE and A Level provision runs AED 200 to 450 and upward, with TutorChase at AED 270. In-home visits are quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour including travel, and premium named provision reaches AED 650 with BartyED.

Now apply three subjects. Weekly support in all three at the qualified band is three times the monthly figure, and Bestimate's estimate for a single weekly session is already AED 600 to 1,200 mid-range. For most households that is not sustainable across a Year 11, which is exactly why rotation is the right structure rather than merely the cheaper one. A diagnosis, a shared practical block and two concentrated single-subject blocks across a year costs a fraction of three standing weekly arrangements and usually produces more.

The in-home comparison is worse for three sciences than for any other request. Three visiting specialists means three travel premiums and three gate waits, and a tutor booked for six who clears security at ten past has delivered fifty minutes of a paid hour. Monthly, four two-hour in-home sessions are advertised at AED 1,599 to 1,799 against roughly AED 799 for eight online sessions. IB Gram does not sell UAE home visits at all; the service exists only in India, and the MoHRE private tutor permit is free of charge, so no licensing cost belongs in any quote.

07

Coursework, board material and the honesty boundary

International GCSE science carries less internally assessed work than the IB Diploma, but where any assessed personal work exists the boundary is the same across all three subjects, and it is worth stating because one page ranking in this market sells completed assessed work outright. The penalty for that falls on the student, not the seller.

A tutor may teach the content, explain what the assessment criteria reward, test whether a proposed approach is workable, read what the student has written and identify where it is losing marks, demonstrate a technique on different material, and teach citation and referencing properly. Where a school requires an authentication declaration, the student signs it, and a tutor who crossed that line has put the signature at risk along with the qualification behind it.

On materials the position is firm. Cambridge and Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade boundary tables are their copyright, and unreleased material carries a malpractice exposure in addition. A tutor cites the official source, works from what the school has legitimately issued, and writes equivalent practice questions in the same style and at the same difficulty. Across three sciences that is more work for the tutor and entirely manageable, and a provider advertising a download library of papers is offering an unresolved problem rather than an advantage.

A parallel rule applies to the mandatory UAE subjects sitting alongside the science timetable. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are compulsory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed curriculum, and for those subjects the use of any different or additional content without prior Ministry of Education permission is strictly prohibited. Support there works from the school's own material by design, which is a constraint rather than a preference.

08

Permits, regulators and honest availability for three subjects

Private tuition in the UAE is regulated by permit, and the facts are short enough that every page should carry them. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023 and is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. MoHRE's own service page lists no fee, states a two-working-day completion time, and takes applications through the smart app, website and e-services system.

Individuals offering private tutoring without a permit from MoHRE are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws, and no fine schedule has been published. There is also a conduct rule worth knowing: Abu Dhabi's professional-ethics rules for private and charter school staff prohibit teachers from paid private tuition of students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct does likewise. That reporting is press-sourced, so verify against the current ADEK document before relying on exact wording.

Because Living Legends has no secondary school of its own, the body inspecting your child's biology, chemistry and physics teaching is attached to the campus they travel to rather than the community they sleep in, and every one of those campuses sits in Dubai, so it answers to KHDA. KHDA oversees the quality of private education and inspects on six bands from Outstanding to Very Weak, and one band covers all three sciences together, which is why an Outstanding school can still have the physics department described in section two. Cross an emirate boundary and the body changes. Abu Dhabi and Al Ain are ADEK, which supervises licensing and accreditation. Sharjah has the Sharjah Private Education Authority and Ras Al Khaimah its Department of Knowledge, both approving tuition fees, curricula, programmes, courses, activities and assessment methods. Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah are supervised by the federal Ministry of Education. None of them has approved or accredited IB Gram, and neither has Cambridge nor Pearson; we operate no office, centre or branch anywhere in the UAE, which is the same reason the three-science evening above is built online rather than around a van.

On availability, single-science support at either tier matches quickly. All three sciences in the same evening is a scheduling problem rather than a supply problem, and it resolves with a weekend double slot or two evenings. The narrowest request is a specific tier in a specific board's physics at short notice, and where no specialist is free we give a date rather than offering a near-fit. No competitor in the clusters researched for this project discloses a coverage limit anywhere, which is why families keep finding one in week three.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Living Legends

These notes are about the clock and the journey, since both determine how many science sessions a week is realistic.

Living Legends

Gated, compact, no secondary school inside. Every examination-year student commutes, which leaves one reliable weekday evening slot and makes weekend mornings essential for a three-science plan.

Dubai Sports City

Immediately adjacent and the source of most academy commitments here. Training from five to seven removes the weekday evening for many households, which pushes science rotation to the weekend.

Motor City

A short drive north with on-community schooling for the earlier years. Students attending there have short journeys, which makes Years 7 to 9 science work genuinely easy to schedule.

Al Barsha South and Dubai Hills Estate

Where many examination-year students from here attend school, twenty to thirty minutes out. That journey sets the first usable weekday science slot at around six.

Remraam and Mudon

Residential neighbours to the south serving the earlier years. Short distances with slow school-run timing on shared approach roads, so afternoon slots work only for the younger cohort.

Arabian Ranches and the Al Qudra corridor

Further west and south-west with a wider established tutor market. Long enough journeys that a weekend-weighted plan is the only workable shape for three subjects.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Living Legends

Where International GCSE science is taught for this community

Examination-year science for students from Living Legends is taught outside the community, mainly along the Al Khail Road corridor and in the Al Barsha and Jumeirah area, with science option blocks usually set in Year 9.

Nearby provision for the earlier years

Years 7 to 9 are served close by, which is where the science option block and the Core or Extended trajectory are determined. Dubai's next intake adds seven private schools and 16,846 places across the emirate, four of them British curriculum.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Confirm the award and the codes

Which route, which board, which syllabus codes and which tier where one applies. For a science family that single reply prevents the most common waste in this market: diligent revision of content removed from a coordinated or combined award.

  2. 02

    Do the journey arithmetic honestly

School finish, actual arrival through the door, and the time the student can concentrate. Then subtract training and the school's own homework in three subjects. What is left is what you are actually scheduling, and it is usually one weekday slot and one weekend morning.

  3. 03

Buy the diagnosis across all three

Two or three sessions establishing which science is losing the most marks, so the rotation starts from evidence rather than from the subject the student complains about most. Those are frequently not the same thing.

  4. 04

Take the shared practical block early

Four to six sessions on variables, method criticism, data processing and evaluation. The technique transfers across all three sciences, which raises the base for every later block and makes it the only multiplying purchase available.

  5. 05

Rotate on evidence every six sessions

Measure against the same question types, then decide whether to continue or move. Pause during the mock block rather than intensifying, and use the weeks after mocks for the most productive re-diagnosis of the year.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

Rotation instead of splitting the hour

Twenty minutes per science produces recognition; a full session produces fluency. One subject at a time, reviewed every six sessions and changed on evidence, gives three or four concentrated runs across a year instead of ninety fragments.

One block that serves all three subjects

The written practical skills are examined across biology, chemistry and physics and are largely transferable. Four to six sessions therefore improves three subjects at once, which is the only genuinely multiplying purchase in this market.

Tasks matched to the energy available

Biology vocabulary and the descriptive parts of physics and chemistry survive a tired slot after training; moles and circuit analysis do not. Placing each in the right window costs nothing and is the largest free improvement a three-science family can make.

The calendar planned three times over

Mock blocks examine all three sciences within days, so capacity pauses rather than intensifies, and the weeks afterwards carry marked evidence in every subject. Ramadan weeks take the description-heavy material and the quantitative work is front-loaded.

Rates published with their sources

Every AED band names who published it. Three subjects is where budgets break, and the in-home comparison is worst here, because three visiting specialists means three travel premiums and three gate waits in a gated community.

No approval claimed and no material reproduced

No KHDA, ADEK, SPEA, Ministry, Cambridge or Pearson approval, no UAE office, no grade promise. Board papers, mark schemes and boundary tables are cited and linked rather than distributed, and equivalent practice is written instead.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Living Legends: your questions answered

Should one hour a week be split across three sciences?+

No, and it is the most common arrangement in this area. Twenty minutes per subject is enough to revisit a topic and remind a student of something half known, and not enough to work through a multi-step chemistry calculation, diagnose a failed circuit question or restructure a six-mark biology answer and have it rewritten. Those take most of a session each. Rotation works instead: one science at a time for six sessions, measured against the same question types, then changed if the evidence says so.

Which science should a Living Legends family start with?+

Whichever one the evidence says is losing the most marks, which is frequently not the subject the student complains about. Two or three diagnostic sessions across all three settles it from marked papers. One sensible exception applies: start with the shared written practical block if that gap is present, because the technique transfers to all three subjects and raises the base for every later block, making it the only purchase in this market that genuinely multiplies.

How can one block improve all three sciences?+

Because the written practical skills are substantially the same across biology, chemistry and physics. Identifying variables precisely, spotting a method with no repeats, reading an instrument scale, processing data into a usable table, plotting with sensible axes, and writing an evaluation that names a specific error and its specific effect are all context-independent. The subject changes and the reasoning does not. Four to six sessions therefore lifts three papers, and it is the most commonly untaught area because school laboratory time goes on apparatus and procedure.

What time can a three-science session realistically start here?+

Around six on a weekday. There is no secondary school inside Living Legends, so every examination-year student commutes, usually twenty to thirty minutes to Al Barsha South, Dubai Hills or the Al Khail corridor and longer on a multi-community bus route. Home between four and half past four, then thirty to forty minutes to eat and settle, and then the school's own homework in all three sciences. A session at five competes with that homework; a session at six supports it.

Which science works best in a tired slot after training?+

Biology, followed by the descriptive parts of physics and chemistry. Much of biology is vocabulary, structured recall and answer organisation, which a tutor can guide rather than the student having to generate, so restructuring a six-mark answer on gas exchange is a good use of a depleted hour. Waves, energy and radioactivity in physics and reactivity trends in chemistry behave similarly. What does not survive a tired hour is moles and stoichiometry or circuit analysis, both of which are multi-step and unforgiving of a slip.

Does a Living Legends student need a separate tutor per science?+

For a combined or coordinated award at the lower tiers, usually not, because the depth in each discipline is limited and the practical technique is shared. For three separate sciences at Extended or Higher tier, usually yes, because holding current knowledge of three specifications at that depth is a lot to ask of one person. Online delivery makes consecutive slots with different specialists cost nothing extra, which removes the main practical reason families default to a single tutor.

Should we book extra sessions during the mock period?+

No, and it is a common and expensive instinct. Schools typically run mocks in one block, so all three sciences are examined within days and the student has no room to use additional hours. Capacity should pause rather than intensify. The weeks immediately after mocks are the opposite: the most productive period in the year, because marked evidence exists in all three subjects and a diagnosis can be made properly rather than estimated. Plan the spending that way round.

How does the weekend double slot work for three subjects?+

Two consecutive sessions on a weekend morning covering two sciences with two specialists, with no gap because nothing has to travel between them. For households with academy training next door in Sports City, whose weekday evenings are largely gone, this is the main arrangement rather than an alternative. It is also long enough for full timed papers in each subject, which a 45-minute weekday slot cannot accommodate at all.

What does supporting three sciences actually cost?+

Weekly support in all three at the qualified band is three times the monthly figure, and Bestimate's estimate for a single weekly session is already AED 600 to 1,200 mid-range in Dubai. For most households that is not sustainable across a Year 11, which is why rotation is the right structure rather than merely the cheaper one. A diagnosis, a shared practical block and two concentrated single-subject blocks across a year costs a fraction of three standing arrangements and usually produces more.

How does Ramadan change a three-science plan?+

School days shorten across the Emirates and energy moves to the evening, so sessions typically shift later, often after Iftar, and shorten while holding frequency. For a rotation that argues for using the Ramadan weeks on description-heavy material in all three subjects, biology vocabulary, waves and radioactivity, reactivity trends, and front-loading the quantitative chemistry and physics calculations before the month begins. Non-fasting students in the household are affected too, since the shortened day changes the week's rhythm for everyone.

Which exam series will a science candidate sit from Dubai?+

Cambridge International runs International GCSE in a June series and a November series in the UAE, and the February and March series is offered to India only, so any page quoting a spring window is giving you a date you cannot act on. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. Checkable anchors: Pearson's November 2026 final timetable ran to 19 November 2026, June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026, and November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026.

How do mandatory UAE subjects affect a science revision timetable?+

They reduce the available hours, and a plan drawn from the science option block alone will overestimate what is free. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are compulsory in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, with separate classes required for Arab and non-Arab students. KHDA calculates instructional time on a 40-minute lesson unit and advises no mandatory lesson runs shorter than 25 minutes. The homework that follows is real and belongs in the arithmetic.

Will a tutor supply past papers for all three sciences?+

Not reproduced from the boards. Cambridge and Pearson past papers, mark schemes, syllabus documents and grade boundary tables are their copyright, and unreleased material carries a malpractice exposure as well. A tutor cites and links the official source, works from material the school has legitimately issued, and writes equivalent practice questions in the same style and difficulty. Across three sciences that is more work for the tutor and entirely manageable, and it has the advantage of targeting the specific gap.

Is a tutoring permit required for online science lessons in Dubai?+

The permit requirement attaches to private tuition rather than to a format. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Tutoring without it attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, although no amounts are published, so any figure quoted is unverified.

Rotate the subjects, share the practical block

An IGCSE science tutor in Living Legends has to solve a scheduling problem before a teaching one, because there are three subjects and one reliable weekday evening. Confirm the award and the codes with the school, do the journey arithmetic honestly, buy a diagnosis across all three, take the shared written practical block early, and then rotate one science at a time on evidence. Pause during mocks and spend the weeks afterwards re-diagnosing. Book a free trial lesson at the hour you actually intend to use.
