IB Home Tutor in Living Legends

Searching for an IB home tutor in Living Legends produces very few names, because a single gated community of villas and towers off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road is not where independent Diploma specialists live. IB Gram solves that differently: lessons are one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time, matched to the exact course and level, with nothing arriving at a Living Legends address.

  • Matched by Diploma course and level, not by driving distance
  • No gate pass, guest registration or parking to arrange
  • Free trial lesson before anything is agreed
  • Home visits are offered in India only, never in the UAE

IB & IGCSE in Living Legends

One gated community, and almost no local Diploma specialists

Living Legends is a single master community rather than a district: villas and apartment towers arranged around a golf course, gated, sitting off Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road between Dubai Sports City, Motor City and Remraam. That compactness is pleasant to live in and unhelpful for finding a tutor, because tutor supply follows population density and road access, and a self-contained community of this size supports a handful of generalists at best. The chance that one of them has taught Mathematics Analysis and Approaches Higher Level recently is small.

The Diploma makes that scarcity matter more than it would for other curricula. Six subjects across two levels, three core components, internal assessments moderated against published criteria, and papers that differ between Higher and Standard Level in content, duration and weighting. The useful qualification in a tutor is not a degree in the subject but recent experience of this course at this level. A capable graduate can explain a topic and still miss that a student is losing marks to command-term misreading, which is where a large share of Diploma marks go.

There is a practical layer specific to gated communities that nobody writing about home tutoring mentions. A visiting tutor needs to be registered at the gate, or met, or given a pass. Parking has to be sorted. If the session is at six and the tutor arrives at ten past because security took five minutes, the family has paid for an hour and received fifty minutes. Twice a week, across a school year, that is a real quantity of lost teaching and a recurring small irritation that wears out an arrangement.

Then there is the permit question, which applies anywhere in the Emirates. Private tuition is regulated: the MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and MoHRE's own service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Individuals tutoring without it are subject to fines and penalties under the applicable laws. A parent in a gated community is entitled to ask about it before letting somebody into the house, and the fact that the permit is free means there is no excuse for not holding one.

IB Gram's answer removes the gate, the drive and the radius from the problem at once. Lessons run one-to-one over live video, so the constraint becomes the subject and the level rather than who can reach the community at a usable hour. We do not sell home visits anywhere in the UAE; that service exists only in India, and saying so plainly matters more than a soft answer. The rest of this page covers what a visit actually involves here, how the formats compare, what the market charges, how the exam calendar works backwards, and where a tutor's role ends.

At a glance

  • Living Legends is a compact gated community, not a district with its own tutor market
  • Diploma briefs are level-specific; HL and SL are examined differently
  • Gate registration and parking cost teaching minutes on every visit
  • The MoHRE private tuition permit is free and lasts two years
  • Lessons are delivered over live video; nothing arrives at the address
IB programmes

Every IB programme stage, mapped to UAE school years

Three IB programmes and one common alternative are in play for families here, often across siblings. These notes focus on what each one asks of a student in a community this size.

PYPAges 3-12 · Foundation to Year 6

Primary Years Programme

No external examinations. Progress comes through units of inquiry, a portfolio and the Year 6 Exhibition, a student-led project rather than a test. The habit that matters at this stage is explaining reasoning aloud, because the Middle Years Programme asks for written justification from the first term and children who were never asked to produce it stall in Year 7.

Primary-age children here travel to schools in Motor City, Sports City or Remraam, so journeys are short and afternoon sessions are genuinely available. That is the one age group in Living Legends for which local timing is easy, and it is worth using while it lasts.

MYPAges 11-16 · Years 7-11

Middle Years Programme

Each subject marked against four criteria, A to D, on a 0-8 scale against published descriptors, with the Personal Project in the final year. Marks go missing where a student answers the question but not the criterion, which is a diagnosable problem and a fixable one once somebody works from the rubric rather than a textbook.

Families in Living Legends often meet the MYP after a move, because the surrounding communities mix British and IB provision within a few kilometres. A student arriving from a Year 9 International GCSE track into MYP 4 has the content and not the criterion habit, which is a term of work rather than a year.

DPAges 16-19 · Years 12-13

Diploma Programme

Six subjects, three Higher and three Standard, plus the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Activity, Service. Each subject carries an internal assessment marked against published criteria and moderated by the IB. A plan built for the wrong level wastes hours on material the student will never be examined on.

Candidates at UAE schools sit the May session, and the deadlines a student here actually works to are set by their own coordinator months earlier. Families in this community tend to arrive asking about internal assessment support a term later than the point at which it would have helped most.

ALAges 16-18 · Years 12-13

A Levels as the local alternative

The surrounding school supply includes strong British-curriculum provision, so siblings in one Living Legends household are frequently split between the Diploma and A Levels. Cambridge International A Level runs in June and November series, which puts the two children on different annual rhythms.

A household holding both routes needs two calendars respected in one week, and the peaks do not coincide. That is manageable when nothing has to travel and awkward when a visiting tutor is involved, which is one of the quieter reasons mixed-route families in this community end up working online.

Subject coverage

IB and IGCSE subjects we tutor

These are the Diploma courses families in and around Living Legends ask about most, with the level and the specific place marks are lost. A request that names the course and level is matched in hours; one that says IB science has to be unpicked first.

Biology

HL and SL

Content-dense and vocabulary-dependent. A student can recall a process accurately and score two of six because the answer is not structured as the markscheme reads it. Statistical treatment of internal assessment data is where otherwise strong candidates drop a band.

Chemistry

HL and SL

Stoichiometry underpins everything quantitative, and organic mechanisms decide the Higher Level grade. The standard loss is a describe answer where the command term asked for an explanation, and equations that balance without the state symbols required.

Physics

HL and SL

Mechanics and electricity carry the marks and are taught early, so gaps compound for two years. Unit and significant-figure discipline costs marks on content the student understands, and Higher Level questions routinely combine two topics in one item.

Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches

HL and SL

Proof, functions and calculus, with one paper sat without a graphical calculator. Marks are lost in method communication: a correct answer with no visible reasoning collects a fraction of what the question offers.

Mathematics: Applications and Interpretation

HL and SL

Statistics-led and calculator-active throughout, with modelling questions that must be answered in words as well as numbers. Students who chose it to avoid algebra are often surprised by the writing demand in the exploration.

Economics

HL and SL

Diagram accuracy decides a large share of the marks: axes labelled, curves shifted correctly, the new equilibrium identified. The internal assessment commentaries depend on choosing usable published articles, and unusable choices are the common early error.

Business Management

HL and SL

Tools must be applied to the case rather than described. Students who learned to define terms for International GCSE keep defining them and run out of time on the questions where the marks actually are.

English A: Language and Literature

HL and SL

Two assessed orals and papers on unseen texts. The Individual Oral needs a global issue narrow enough to sustain for ten minutes, and students routinely choose one far too broad. Close analysis of how a text works is what lifts a grade.

Theory of Knowledge

Core component

An essay on a prescribed title and an exhibition. Progress depends on discussion rather than drill, so the sessions need room to breathe. Short weekday slots rarely achieve much; a longer fortnightly block does more.

Arabic B and ab initio

HL, SL and ab initio

Dubai private schools must teach Arabic regardless of licensed curriculum, with separate classes required for Arab and non-Arab students. Productive skills carry the assessment weight and benefit from short frequent practice.

How sessions run

Tutoring formats built around UAE school timetables

Three formats cover almost every request from this community. All run over live video, and the difference is cadence rather than medium.

Weekly one-to-one, term-time

A fixed slot with the same specialist each week, pinned to the student's own school assessment calendar rather than to a generic scheme of work. This is the format for a student who holds a grade and wants the band above, and it is the one that builds the method-communication habit Diploma markschemes reward.

  • Same tutor, same hour, Gulf Standard Time
  • Sequenced against the school's own deadlines
  • Short written note to the parent after each session
  • Pausable for school examination weeks and travel

Core component blocks

A short dense run around an internal assessment, the Extended Essay or the Theory of Knowledge essay. The tutor tests the research question, explains the criteria, and gives feedback on the student's own draft. The student writes every word; that is the only form this support may take under IB rules.

  • Research question tested before drafting begins
  • Criterion-by-criterion feedback on the student's own text
  • Referencing and academic-honesty practice built in
  • Four to eight sessions rather than an open-ended run

Pre-session intensive

A concentrated run in the weeks before the examination session, built on past-paper technique, command-term discipline and timing. It sharpens rather than rescues: it works where content is broadly in place and marks are being lost to method.

  • Diagnostic paper first, so the plan targets measured gaps
  • Two or three sessions a week for a defined period
  • Timed sections under examination conditions
  • Weekend mornings available, which suits academy families

What IB and IGCSE study actually looks like in Living Legends

01

What a home visit to a gated community actually involves

Nobody selling in-home tutoring describes the logistics, so here they are. A visiting tutor coming to Living Legends has to get through a gate. Depending on the arrangement that means being pre-registered by the household, being met, collecting a pass, or waiting while security confirms the visit. Parking has to be found. None of this is onerous once, and all of it is a recurring friction twice a week for thirty-odd weeks.

The cost shows up as teaching minutes. A tutor booked for six o'clock who clears the gate at ten past has delivered fifty minutes of a sixty-minute lesson, and the family has paid for sixty. Over a school year at two sessions a week that is a substantial amount of tuition lost to administration. The second cost is reliability: a tutor who hits traffic on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road and arrives at twenty past has effectively cancelled half the session, and this happens often enough to erode an arrangement by the second term.

The third cost is the one that shapes the market. Tutors price access. A specialist willing to drive from Al Barsha or the Marina to a gated community off a major arterial road, twice a week, at the hour everybody wants, is pricing the journey and the uncertainty into the fee. That is why in-home rates in Dubai are quoted at AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included, against AED 150 to 300 for a qualified subject tutor working online. The gap is logistics, not pedagogy.

None of this makes in-home tutoring wrong. For a child under about ten, or a student with significant attention difficulties, physical presence does real work and is worth paying for. For a Diploma student working on papers and data on a screen anyway, it is an expensive solution to a problem that no longer exists. The table below compares the two honestly, including where in-home wins.

02

Why a community this size cannot supply a Diploma specialist

This is arithmetic rather than opinion. Independent tutors build a diary from the families within reach, and the number of families within reach of a single gated community is small. Of those families, only some have Diploma students. Of those, only some need a particular subject, and only some of those need it at Higher Level. Follow that chain down and the local demand for, say, Chemistry Higher Level in one community is perhaps a household or two in a given year, which cannot sustain a specialist.

So specialists do not locate themselves by community; they locate themselves by access, and then they travel. The ones who travel to gated communities off arterial roads charge for it, and the ones who do not travel widen their subject range until the diary fills with whatever is nearby. Both are rational responses, and neither produces what a Living Legends family actually wants, which is somebody who has taught their child's exact course recently and is reliably available at a fixed hour.

There is a further scarcity that is often misread as a local problem. Higher Level cohorts at individual Dubai schools are often small, which means the number of teachers anywhere in the emirate who have taken a particular Higher Level course through to a final session recently is smaller than the number who teach the subject. That scarcity is city-wide. Narrowing the search by distance does not just reduce an already small pool; it filters on the one variable that has nothing to do with quality.

Removing distance inverts the question usefully. Instead of who is free and close, it becomes who has taught this course at this level and can take half past six on a Tuesday. That question has a real answer, and the answer is the same for a household inside the Living Legends gate as for one in Arabian Ranches. IB Gram does not offer home visits in the UAE at all, which is the honest version of this rather than a coverage area we could not actually serve.

03

What IB tutoring costs here, read from the monthly figure down

Most families decide on a monthly number rather than an hourly one, so start there. Bestimate's Dubai estimates for a weekly one-hour session put budget provision at AED 240 to 600 a month, mid-range at AED 600 to 1,200, and specialist examination-year support at AED 1,000 to 2,000 and upward. Market packages include roughly AED 799 a month for eight online sessions and AED 1,599 to 1,799 a month for four two-hour in-home sessions. Read those two packages side by side: twice the money for half the number of contacts.

Translated into hours, the market has five identifiable bands. Budget online at AED 45 to 150, with EdFlik advertising from AED 45 to 65 and Tutopiya from AED 33 to 52. Qualified online subject tutors at AED 150 to 300, with Unitors publishing International GCSE from AED 150 and IB from AED 200. In-home visits at AED 180 to 500 including travel, with Bestimate at 180 to 350 and independent home tutors reaching 500. IB and A Level specialists at AED 200 to 450 and upward, with TutorChase at AED 270. Premium named provision at AED 500 to 650, with BartyED at AED 650.

For a Living Legends family the relevant comparison is between the qualified online band and the in-home band, because those are the two realistic options for a Diploma student. The difference buys a car journey and a gate pass. It does not buy better teaching, and in this community it actively costs teaching minutes for the reasons described above.

None of these figures is an IB Gram price list, and that distinction matters because three of the six most visible pages competing for these searches publish no price at all, while two of the three that do quote in US dollars. Each band above names who published it so a parent can check a quote rather than take it on faith. Our own answer to the price question is a free trial lesson and a conversation, since the only figure that predicts anything is whether this specialist moves this student.

The examination calendar, read backwards from the papers

No competitor page researched for this project names an examination series, a registration deadline or a results date. For a Diploma family that absence is strange, because the calendar is what a plan has to be built around, and the deadlines that matter most are not the examination dates at all.

Get the series right first. IB candidates at UAE schools sit the May session. For Cambridge qualifications, which many siblings in this community are taking, the UAE series are June and November; the February and March series is offered to India only, so any UAE page quoting a spring window is handing parents a date they cannot act on. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November. This page publishes no specific IB examination or results date, because ibo.org returns an error to automated verification and an unsourced date that a family plans around is a genuine harm. Confirm IB dates with the school's coordinator.

The deadlines that actually shape a plan sit months earlier. Entry deadlines come well before the papers because centres submit candidate data and order materials. Internal assessment deadlines are set by the school rather than the board, typically several months before the board's submission window so that teachers can mark and the coordinator can moderate. A student who starts thinking about an internal assessment when the examination timetable appears has already passed the point where tutoring helps most.

Backward-looking anchors are worth citing because they can be checked. Pearson's November 2026 International GCSE final timetable ran from late October to 19 November 2026. June 2026 results reached centres on 19 August 2026 and students on 20 August 2026. November 2025 results reached students on 22 January 2026. Those intervals, roughly ten weeks in summer and nine from the November series, are the real shape of the wait. Pearson also publishes provisional timetables that can be revised, so the official timetable is always the document to check.

05

The Diploma core, and where a tutor must stop

The Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and the internal assessments are the components most likely to be squeezed out of a week, because none of them has a weekly lesson defending its place. They also carry real weight and hard deadlines, set by the school months before the board's windows. A student who handles subject homework competently can still arrive at a submission date with nothing drafted.

The support that helps is shaped differently from subject tutoring. These components do not benefit from a short weekly slot; they need occasional longer sessions, spaced weeks apart, each with a clear deliverable. The research question tested for viability. The method agreed. A first section drafted and reviewed against the criteria. The argument checked for whether the conclusion follows from the evidence. Four well-placed sessions across a term achieve more than twelve fortnightly check-ins.

The boundary around this work is the thing that should decide which provider a family uses, and almost nobody writes it down. One page ranking in this market sells completed Internal Assessments for a four-figure sum. That is not a competitive product; it is an IB malpractice trigger, and the consequence falls on the student, whose diploma can be withheld. So the line needs stating rather than left to inference.

What a tutor may do is substantial: teach the content, explain what each criterion asks for in the criterion's own language, test whether a research question will survive contact with real data, read a draft the student has written and say where it is losing marks, model an analysis on different material, and teach referencing properly. What a tutor must never do is produce the work. Not the exploration, not the Extended Essay, not the Theory of Knowledge essay, not a Personal Project, and not an edit so heavy the voice is no longer the student's. Nor may any provider supply IB, Cambridge or Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes or grade boundary tables, which are the boards' copyright.

06

Who is legally permitted to tutor your child in the UAE

This question has a clear answer and most tutoring pages avoid it, which is itself informative. Private tuition in the UAE is regulated by permit. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023. It is granted free of charge for two years. Eligible applicants include teachers registered in government or private schools, employees in the government and private sectors, unemployed individuals, school students aged 15 to 18, and university students. MoHRE's own service page is titled Issuance of a New Work Permit - Private Tutor Licensing, lists no fee, states a two-working-day completion time, and takes applications through the smart app, website and e-services system.

Two consequences follow. There is no reasonable explanation for a tutor not holding a permit that costs nothing and takes two working days. And individuals offering private tutoring without one are subject to fines and penalties outlined in the applicable laws. No fine schedule has been published and a figure circulating online could not be verified, so treat any page quoting an amount with suspicion.

A tutoring operation with premises and staff in Dubai is a different legal animal. That requires a KHDA Educational Services Permit for a training institute, with initial approval first, a maximum of six months to complete the permit and licence steps, and annual renewal requested at least thirty days before expiry. This is why the phrase approved tutors deserves scrutiny wherever it appears: the permit belongs to an institution with premises, and it is not a judgement about any individual's teaching.

For a household in a gated community there is a practical version of all this. Before the first paid session, ask three questions: do you hold a current MoHRE private tuition permit, which category of eligibility applies to you, and does my child attend your school? The last one matters because Abu Dhabi's professional-ethics rules bar school staff from paid tuition of students enrolled at their own school, and the permit's code of conduct does likewise. That reporting is press-sourced, so verify against the current ADEK text, but the principle is sound.

MoE equivalency for an IB or International GCSE student here

Equivalency is the process by which the UAE Ministry of Education recognises a foreign secondary certificate, and it sits between a school leaving certificate and a UAE university place. Several of the query clusters researched for this project contain no mention of it at all, and one ranking page publishes the wrong subject count for the British track. For a household with one child on International GCSE and another on the Diploma, getting it right early is more useful than any revision technique.

On the British track the published requirements are specific. Five accredited subjects in GCSE or International GCSE certificates at a grade of no less than E or grade 3, plus one accredited subject at Advanced Level at no less than E, or two accredited subjects at Advanced Subsidiary Level at the same grade. Arabic and Islamic education are not included among the five. A competitor page claiming six subjects is wrong, and a family who planned an option block around that number has made a real mistake for free.

On the American track, English proficiency requires a score of 5 in the IELTS academic test, 61 in the TOEFL iBT, or 450 in the reading and writing section of the SAT, and mathematics requires at least 450 in the SAT Math test before applying. For the International Baccalaureate, no verified points threshold could be read on an official Ministry source for this project, so none is published here. Check moe.gov.ae or the emirate attestation authority directly.

Two limits worth stating. Equivalency is not something IB Gram performs, expedites or guarantees; it belongs to the family and the Ministry, and our role is to describe it and point to the official channel. And tutoring is not required for equivalency, for a university place or for school progression. Any page implying otherwise is manufacturing urgency around a regulatory process, which is both inaccurate and a poor way to treat a parent making a significant financial decision.

08

When no specialist is free at the hour you want

Every platform in this market writes as though a tutor is always available for every course at every level, and none of them discloses a coverage limit. That is not true of any provider, and pretending otherwise just moves the disappointment to the week after the enquiry. So here is the honest version for a household in Living Legends.

Common requests match quickly. Both Diploma mathematics routes, the three sciences at Higher and Standard Level, Economics, Business Management, English A and the International GCSE subjects have deep coverage, and a trial lesson can usually be arranged within a few days. Where a family wants the hour everybody else wants, between half past five and seven on a weekday, the limiting factor is the slot rather than the subject, and moving a session fifteen or twenty minutes often resolves it immediately.

Narrower requests behave differently. A rarely offered Group 2 language, Theory of Knowledge supervision at short notice, Computer Science Higher Level with a particular programming paradigm, or Career-related Programme reflective project support can all take longer, and sometimes the correct answer is that no suitable specialist is currently free. In that case we give a date rather than put a near-fit in front of a final-year Diploma student, which is the decision most likely to waste a family's money and term.

One further disclosure belongs on a UAE page. Lessons are delivered by specialists who may be based in the UAE or elsewhere, and the network includes experienced IB and Cambridge teachers outside the Emirates. That is how a household inside a gated community reaches a Higher Level specialist at a chosen hour at all. A parent should hear it at the outset rather than deduce it from a dialling code, and in no scenario does anyone arrive at a UAE address, because home visits are a service IB Gram operates only in India.

Where we tutor

Nearby areas we cover around Living Legends

Living Legends sits among communities that supply its schools, its traffic and its tutor market. These notes are about what each one means operationally for a family inside the gates.

Living Legends

Villas and towers around a golf course, gated, with no secondary provision inside the community. Every school-age child travels, and every visiting service has to be registered at the gate, which is why the clock matters more here than the map.

Dubai Sports City

Immediately adjacent and the nearest dense school and apartment cluster. Academy training in this neighbourhood takes the five-to-seven window, which affects Living Legends households whose children train there.

Motor City

A short drive north with on-community schooling and the closest realistic cluster of independent tutors. Even so, the Diploma specialists within that cluster are few, because Higher Level cohorts across Dubai are small.

Remraam and Mudon

Residential communities to the south with school provision for younger years. Journeys from Living Legends are short in distance and awkward in timing, since both approach roads congest at the same hours.

Arabian Ranches and Arabian Ranches 2

The established villa communities to the west, with IB primary provision and a wider established tutor market. Still a meaningful drive from the Living Legends gate at six in the evening.

Dubai Studio City and Dubailand Residence Complex

Mixed-use neighbours with few schools and little tutor supply. Their presence explains why the local market looks thinner than the population of the wider area would suggest.

Al Barsha South and Dubai Hills Estate

Where many Living Legends secondary students actually attend school, roughly twenty to thirty minutes out depending on the hour. The commute is the reason a 5pm session is unrealistic for a Diploma student here.

The Sustainable City and Al Qudra corridor

Further south-west, with IB provision that draws some families from this community. The journey home from there is among the longest in the area and pushes sessions later again.

School ecosystem

IB and Cambridge school communities we support in Living Legends

Schools immediately around Living Legends

The closest provision sits in Motor City, Sports City and Remraam, which is where most primary and middle-years children from this community travel. Journeys are short, so afternoon sessions are realistic for younger students.

Where Living Legends Diploma students travel

Diploma Programme provision for this community is further out, along the Al Khail Road corridor and in the Al Barsha and Jumeirah area. Higher Level cohorts at individual schools can be small, which concentrates provision quality in one or two teachers per year group.

How matching works

From first enquiry to a tutor who fits

  1. 01

Name the course and the level precisely

    Give the real arrival-home time

Living Legends has no secondary provision inside the gates, so every Diploma student travels. Work out when they are actually home, fed and able to concentrate. A slot that looks fine and is twenty minutes too early fails every week.

  3. 03

Meet the specialist in a free trial

A full session, no charge, no card, with no gate pass to arrange. The test is diagnostic: the tutor should finish able to name the specific skill costing marks. If the fit is wrong, say so and we match again rather than asking anyone to persist.

  4. 04

Agree a plan with dates in it

A short written plan naming topics, cadence and checkpoints, anchored to the school's own assessment calendar. Core components get their own milestones, because those deadlines are set by the school months ahead of the board's windows.

  5. 05

Review at six sessions, then before the session

Six sessions is enough to see movement in method even where the grade has not shifted. Compare against the diagnostic rather than an impression, and pause cleanly for school examination weeks and travel.

Why families choose us

What UAE parents tell us matters most

No gate, no pass, no lost minutes

Sessions start on time because nothing has to clear security or find a parking space. In a gated community that is not a convenience point: over a school year at two sessions a week, gate access and traffic remove a real quantity of paid teaching.

Matched by course and level

A community of this size cannot support a Diploma specialist by local demand alone, and Higher Level scarcity is city-wide rather than local. Matching on course and level rather than distance filters on the variable that actually predicts usefulness.

Prices stated as the market, with sources

Every AED figure here names who published it and is given monthly as well as hourly. Three of the six most visible pages in this market publish no price at all, and one asks the price question in its own FAQ list before declining to answer it.

The academic-honesty line written down

Tutors teach, question and give criterion feedback on the student's own work. They never produce internal assessments, Extended Essays or Theory of Knowledge essays. One page ranking in this market sells completed coursework, and the student carries that risk.

Dates only where verified

IB candidates at UAE schools sit the May session, and we publish no IB examination or results date because ibo.org blocks automated verification. Cambridge runs June and November in the UAE; the February and March series is India-only.

Coverage limits disclosed before payment

Where a narrow course has no specialist free, we give a date rather than putting a near-fit in front of a final-year student. No competitor in the clusters researched for this project discloses a coverage limit anywhere, which is why families find one in week three.

Questions parents ask

IB and IGCSE tutoring in Living Legends: your questions answered

Can I get an IB home tutor to come inside Living Legends?+

Not through IB Gram. Home visits are a service we run only in India; everything we deliver to UAE families is one-to-one over live video on Gulf Standard Time. Independent in-home tutors do work in this part of Dubai, and the market quotes them at roughly AED 180 to 500 an hour with travel included. In a gated community there is an additional hidden cost: gate registration, parking and traffic routinely remove five to fifteen minutes from a booked hour, and over a school year at two sessions a week that is a significant amount of paid teaching lost.

Why are there so few IB tutors based around Living Legends?+

Because local demand cannot sustain a specialist. Follow the chain: a single gated community holds a limited number of families, only some have Diploma students, only some of those need a particular subject, and only some need it at Higher Level. That leaves perhaps a household or two a year for any given specialism. Specialists therefore locate by road access and travel, charging for the journey, or widen their subject range until the diary fills with whoever is nearby. Neither produces what a family here wants, which is recent experience of their child's exact course.

Which schools do children from Living Legends attend?+

Primary and middle-years children mostly travel to nearby provision in Motor City, Sports City and Remraam: families name GEMS Metropole School, Victory Heights Primary School, Bradenton Preparatory Academy, South View School and GEMS FirstPoint School at The Villa. Diploma students generally travel further, to schools along the Al Khail Road corridor and in the Al Barsha and Jumeirah area, including GEMS Wellington Academy Al Khail, Fairgreen International School, Kent College Dubai and Jumeirah English Speaking School in Arabian Ranches. Schools are named as travel context only, with no affiliation implied.

What time can a Diploma session realistically start from this community?+

Later than the school bell suggests. There is no secondary provision inside Living Legends, so every Diploma student travels, usually toward Al Barsha South, Dubai Hills or the Al Khail corridor. School finishes between half past two and half past three, but the journey home in the afternoon plus thirty or forty minutes to eat and settle puts the first workable slot at around six. Online sessions can be pinned to that hour precisely, which is the main practical advantage over a visit depending on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road behaving.

Does a tutor need a permit to work in a Dubai gated community?+

A tutor needs the same permit everywhere in the UAE, and the community makes no difference to it. The MoHRE private tutor work permit was introduced by Ministerial Resolution No. 710 of 2023, is granted free of charge for two years, and covers registered school teachers, government and private-sector employees, unemployed residents, university students and school students aged 15 to 18. MoHRE's service page lists no fee and a two-working-day completion time. Tutoring without it attracts fines and penalties under the applicable laws, although no schedule of amounts is published.

How much should a Living Legends family budget monthly for Diploma support?+

Bestimate's Dubai estimates for a weekly one-hour session give AED 240 to 600 a month for budget provision, AED 600 to 1,200 mid-range, and AED 1,000 to 2,000 and upward for specialist examination-year support. Packages circulate at roughly AED 799 a month for eight online sessions against AED 1,599 to 1,799 for four two-hour in-home sessions, which is twice the money for half the contacts. For Higher Level work the specialist band is the honest answer, and a free trial lesson is the sensible way to test the match before committing to it.

Is online tuition as effective as a tutor in the room for Diploma work?+

For secondary students, in most cases yes, and in some respects better. Diploma work is already screen-based: papers, data sets, graphing tools, annotated drafts. A shared document with both people writing on it does things a paper exercise book cannot, and the session leaves a record in notes rather than evaporating. The honest exception is children under roughly Year 5 and students with significant attention difficulties, where presence does real work. For a Diploma student here the limiting factor is the specialist's expertise, not the medium.

Can two children in one Living Legends household share a tutor?+

They can, and it is often better that they do not. A child in MYP 3 and a sibling in the second Diploma year need different things, and the person who gives excellent criterion feedback in the MYP is not automatically the right Physics Higher Level specialist. What works well is two consecutive slots with two specialists on the same evening, which costs nothing extra because nothing is travelling. With a visiting tutor the same arrangement means two journeys and two travel premiums, or one compromised session.

Which exam session will my child sit from a UAE school?+

IB candidates at UAE schools sit the May session. This page publishes no specific IB examination or results date, because ibo.org returns an error to automated verification and an unsourced date a family plans around is a real harm; confirm with the school's coordinator. For Cambridge qualifications a sibling may be taking, the UAE series are June and November, and the February and March series is offered to India only. Pearson Edexcel International GCSE runs May/June and November, with its November 2026 timetable running to 19 November 2026.

How far can a tutor go in helping with an Internal Assessment?+

A long way, and the line is specific. A tutor may teach the content, explain what each criterion asks for in the criterion's own language, test whether a research question will survive contact with real data, read a draft the student has written and identify where marks are being lost, model an analysis on different material, and teach referencing properly. A tutor must never produce the work: not the exploration, not the Extended Essay, not the Theory of Knowledge essay. One page ranking in this market sells finished Internal Assessments, and the penalty for that lands on the student.

We have seven weeks before the papers. Is starting now sensible?+

Sensible, provided the plan changes shape. Seven weeks is a technique window rather than a content window. It starts with a diagnostic paper, then targets the two or three places marks are actually being lost, which at this stage is usually command-term reading, method communication and timing rather than missing knowledge. Expect two or three sessions a week with real work in between. What seven weeks cannot do is rebuild two years of a Higher Level course, and any provider promising a specific grade from here is selling something undeliverable.

How do Arabic and Islamic Education fit around a Diploma timetable?+

They are compulsory and they lengthen the week. Arabic, Islamic Education and Social or Moral Studies are required in all Dubai private schools regardless of the licensed international curriculum, and KHDA requires separate classes for Arab and non-Arab students in Arabic as a first language, Islamic Education and Social Studies, with combined classes strictly prohibited. Instructional time is calculated on a 40-minute lesson unit. A revision plan drawn from six Diploma subjects alone therefore overestimates how much free evening time a student in this community actually has.

Will you supply past papers for my child to practise on?+

No, and a provider offering a download library is showing you an unresolved problem rather than a benefit. IB, Cambridge and Pearson syllabus documents, past papers, mark schemes and grade boundary tables are the boards' copyright, and unreleased material carries a malpractice exposure as well. A tutor cites the official source, works from what the school has legitimately issued to the student, and writes equivalent practice questions in the same style and at the same difficulty, which produces the same preparation without the copyright problem.

If the first Living Legends match does not work, what then?+

Tell us and we match again. The trial lesson exists precisely to surface this before money changes hands, and the signal worth watching is not whether the session was pleasant but whether the tutor could name the specific skill costing marks by the end of it. The same applies if a fit fails later in the term. What we will not do is ask a final-year Diploma student to persist with a near-fit because the diary is full; where no suitable specialist is free, we give a date instead.

The gate is not the obstacle; the specialist is

If you are looking for an IB home tutor in Living Legends, the thing worth solving is not access but expertise. A gated community of this size cannot supply a Diploma specialist by local demand, and Higher Level scarcity is city-wide rather than local, so a radius search narrows the choice on the one variable that does not matter. Name the course, the level and the specific problem, then ask who has taught exactly that recently. Book a free trial lesson, judge it on whether the tutor names the skill costing marks, and decide from there. Nothing arrives at your address and no card is needed.
